Operation Warcade VR - What a ode to the old arcade games where you need to shoot enemies and vehicles, pick up upgrades and grenades by shooting them and it really is a blast all around.

One thing that does take a bit of practice and that is difficult to the point that it's really annoying getting the challenges complete, is flying with the jet or helicopter. Now, I've been doing that in Battlefield 3, 4, 1, V and 2042, it doesn't handle like those games unfortunately. Very decent attempt, but it does require you to practice a bit.

Going for 100% achievements, you don't need to do all the challenges in all the levels, but rather focus on those that you can obtain and skip those that you can't, like 30 kills with the helicopter or jet.

Highly recommend this masterpiece to anyone that has VR and loves the old arcade games!

I like the concept - arcade machine, side-scrolling fun, infinite ammo, just you and lots of enemies. The best part are the immersion sections where you can hop into specific set pieces of the map to throw knives, snipe distant enemies (sniping always being troublesome in VR), dual-wild bazookas, or drive various vehicles (which is honestly more trouble than its worth most of the time). It's a cool and fun concept that helps shake up each level, and they're completely optional (minus the challenges that require them) so you don't have to do them if you're sick of a sequence or just want to get on with things. I like that thrown weapons like grenades at the enemy or knives at you grow and shrink in size as they cross the screen threshold, neatly transitioning between the two aspects of the game. I also like that you can see your own "face" on the arcade screen in immersion sections. It's good for a giggle.

All that to say, I do not like this game once I got past the first ten or so levels. It just doesn't work out when you have tons of tiny enemies shooting at you from every direction and you're dead before you can parse all their locations. There's a reason on-the-rails shooters in proper arcades only have you dealing with the enemies you can see all at once on the same screen without needing to peer around to try finding them behind walls, cover, vehicles, and more, as well as making them nice and obvious. Grenades work to pick up the slack on dealing with hidden enemies until you run out. The game has a few cruel tricks - like those bomber jets that you need to know they're coming in advance to shoot them down in time or they just kill you, or the Hostages which are incredibly easy to kill by accident.

In the end, after getting killed several times on the same maps retrying over and over and feeling that some challenges were just way too much effort to make progress, I uninstalled. This thing needs tweaks before I'd be willing to give it another serious shot. If you're curious, buy it on sale for $5 or less and you'll get your money's worth.

Operation Warcade is so addicting and fun... but it's also frustrating... the whole "arcade with tiny soldiers" thing is actually quite a bit of fun and keeps you engaged and playing to finish the missions... but flying the aircraft in this game is an exercise in futility... the controls are terrible, and many times you can't even get off the ground before the aircraft self destructs..

Also there are missions where you are not allowed to kill any civilians, but there are trucks that run through the scene and mow the civilians down after you've done everything you can to free them and/or make sure they are safe

Overall I give this game a thumbs up, but be warned, getting the full 'three stars' on every mission is next to impossible

Not bad, but i wouldn't pay much for it tbh. I got it on sale and whilst some parts of the game are well done there are other parts which are equally bad.
Some of the quick events are horribly placed, but the game can be fun for a little while. I'll probably play more but atm i have a lot of better games to try. So i'll be back.. maybe.

Giving this a no purely based on the price. I think for around $15 or under this may have been ok, but for nearly $30 this game certainly feels lacking.

I enjoyed this game. It had an arcade feel. Its a rail shooter type game with some areas that you can unlock by shooting an icon and go into a mini game in that area for the level. Seemed like you needed to complete challenges to earn points and move on to new levels, which i'm not a huge fan of. Regardless, this game was fun. Try the demo and see if its for you.

This game is absolutely phenomenal. I am really enjoying it. I love the perspective a lot. It's like you're a giant army man crushing little tiny human ants. It's so comical and I love it.

It's also really fun to play. The way the screen moves to the side makes it feel like an old school 90s game but the immersion bits make it feel like a VR game. It's a great combo and I am looking forward to trying to 100% this game.

Operation Warcade is a VR shooter that tries to bring back that gaming nostalgia by taking you to a classic virtual game arcade from the 80s and otherwise succeeds nicely.
With the variety offered by the two game modes, along with the challenges, achievements, unlocks and a ranking system, there is plenty of opportunity to get hours and hours of gameplay out of this game.

As you progress through the levels and take down enemies, you will also see a variety of special items that must be shot in order to be collected or activated. This includes special grenades that explode in strange and wonderful ways, other weapons like another dual-purpose Uzi, and the ultimate monkey - an immersion point that takes you into the real game.
The two Operation Warcade machines offer a different experience depending on which one you play. While they both use the same level design and maps, the gameplay is slightly different.

A lot of fun and takes me back to the good old days of going to an arcade to play these.

The arcade room itself could use some love and some of the flight/driving controls can be a bit wonky but otherwise a good VR game.

I would not recommend paying full price for it. Wait til it's on sale. It's a good game, but not $19.99 good.

So far only played a bit but it is a real fun on rails shooter.
Plays like a side scrolling arcade shooter with a twist.
The bonus sections are very odd and sometimes very difficult to play but they are more like optional side quests.
Overall fun game for a low(ish) price.

Got this game for $8 on a sale. Can firmly say it was worth the price. You can choose between playing it like it is a arcade cabinet. Or be warped into the cabinet. In the arcade cabinet mode there is a box that if you shoot it will warp you into the game.. I don't think anything compares to feeling like you are in a action movie blasting people with dual uzis...I felt like this was GTA when I would be driving the car and blasting people at the same time.

It's a brilliant game, incredibly fun and easy to pick.
It's surprisingly various also, as there are many "immersion points" where you end up piloting aircrafts, tanks, doing a sniper and quite a few others. The bow for example is very well done - as good as "In Death" really. Some are a bit more janky - the helicopter and the airplane mostly.
But overall, it's a super game.

You can play this game in two modes...one simulates you standing in front of an arcade cabinet, with your gun mere inches from the cabinet's screen. Don't recommend this mode. The other mode simulates you standing in a box with a window cut out in the shape of a CRT screen... almost as if you are in peering into the game world. They were smart to not let you stick your head "into the screen" to see what's coming up ahead left and right.

Your default gun being auto-firing is convenient and makes for a less physically restraining experience but the excitement for taking shots is lost as a result. There's no penalty for firing all willy nilly, so it actually takes away from the lasting appeal.

I don't believe there was a way to change preferred hand, so if you start the game grabbing the gun with one hand, you can't switch it later (I could be wrong).

Depth of the game and quality of graphics aren't all there, but that's to be expected. The basic enemies almost always spawn running in from the left or right, so that gets old pretty quick.

The most fun is when you get to board the other artillery in the game. Tanks, Helicopters, etc. You see the option, shoot it, game pulls you into that vehicle for a brief period of time to breakaway from the side-scrolling... but that's really it.

Покупал её довольно давно, не помню, сколько тогда стоила; сейчас стоит основная цена 419 и акционная 104 копья. За акционную или близкую цену, дешевле хорошей шавухи - брать вполне можно. За >200 - не стоит. Реиграбельность, в принципе неплохая, но для открытия новых уровней требуется выполнять задания, подчас весьма и весьма муторные, которые зависят от рандома (ну да) значительней больше, чем от вашего скилла. Соответственно, дроч-ть одну и ту же миссию одного и того же уровня ради очков за выполнение задания очень скоро надоедает и реиграбельность, даже интересных миссий, сходит на нет. Действительно, реализованы много VR механик, но на графике из весьма грубых полигональных моделей, которые явно бросаются в глаза при игре с видом от 1го лица; кроме того, пилотирование авиции откровенно сложное и неудобное. В общем - средненько.

Such an excellent concept. Take an old arcade favorite like operation wolf or it's many other games just like it from the old arcade days and adapt it to VR. Once again just like Midway they did not deliver. Not even close. This game is terrible. Broken achievements. Broken game play. Terrible design choices. The hostages are like a terrible joke on players. The same few concepts repeated over and over in 6 levels to reach an artificial game length. I hope another developer does something like this, but actually puts skill and effort into it.

Spiritually it's like an HD remake of Operation Wolf, an antediluvian light-gun based game from coin-op cabinet times. The basic gameplay has the player looking down at lil' dudes and vehicles coming across a side-scrolling screen for you to pick off. Adding to this are "immersion points", which let the player enter the game in first person, typically using land or air vehicles (sometimes just riding, other times fully controlling them) or special weapons (the explosive bow is particularly fun - no VR game is complete, it seems, without archery!). An interesting touch is that during these first-person segments, the player can look up and see what the soldiers see - a stony-faced, heavily-armed colossus gazing down upon them through a giant TV screen. No wonder they try to shoot him before fleeing in terror, I probably would too!

To extend its life there is actually a second game mode, a bit like an endurance mode, bringing it very close to its spiritual predecessor - including finite credits and ammunition. This isn't obvious at first but can be easily accessed by grabbing the gun on the other cabinet (immediately right of the "standard" mode cabinet) in the virtual arcade room.

My only substantial gripe is that one of the level objectives is critically bugged, though it is not essential to progress (details in spoiler below if interested).
[spoiler]Specifically, this objective was to kill 10 enemies with throwing knives on a specific level, but there were never actually 10 spawns in the relevant immersion point. After maybe 40 attempts, changing settings, checking guides and discussing on forums it seems I'm not the only person to have the problem but no fix exists. I even tried getting the last kills using deflected throwing knives (a monumental pain) but it didn't count these! I eventually just used CheatEngine to complete this, as it was the only thing between me and 100% completion.[/spoiler]

In summary: I had an absolute blast and would highly recommend it. That being said, if you aren't having fun by 1 hour, remember your refund rights as what you see is exactly what you get!

Great game! Very nostalgic of retro old school games of NES and arcades era. Haven't gotten deep into the game but i already found myself enjoying it right off the bat and wanting to play more, BTW Quest 2 with Air Link. It isn’t ground breaking graphics, but I don’t get a headache.

What really got me to "pull the trigger" on this was the fact there was a demo!! How many games, especially now a days where we instantly have buyers regerts?! TOO MANY!!! Demo is just the first level and that's it. Even the stats went to the full version which was nice, but obviously it isn't like you got too far into the game anyhow.

I do like that fact you can go into FPS to do parts of it. It isn't a switch at will type, unfortunately.

Worth buying full price at $20? I'm gonna say no. I waited until it was on sale for $5. Great concept and idea but I would say for a price tag of $20 there should be more somehow, and since its 4 years old this is it. But I will say there seems to be a lot of levels so that’s great!

In all honesty if you're curious about this game then check the demo first because its there to try for a reason and that's smart! Then do what ya do.

I paid $6.50 for this, and I think it's worth right around $5. It's fun, but it's not really active enough for my VR tastes, so I don't feel myself driven to come back to it. I probably will play it more eventually, and this is a game that friends new to VR will enjoy.

There is a bit of a progression system, and some cool first person moments. It's not a bad game, I just wouldn't pay more than right around $6 for it.

La verdad que es un juego que a medida que vas jugando te va enganchando. Excelente inmersión para lo que se pretende, varias modalidades de juego con sus respectivas zonas inmersivas y unos gráficos bastante currados.
No llevo mucho tiempo jugando pero lo que he visto me ha gustado.
Me ha recordado a mis tiempos en las arcades y lo encuentro un título que no debe faltar en la biblioteca de juegos.

Buen seguimiento con las Quest2 y sus controladores un buen título que recomiendo con nota alta.

Operation Wolf was my favorite game back in the day and would always sink a butt load of quarters whenever I came across one. I got this game in a fanatical bundle for what ended up being a couple of bucks. What a surprise! Great game and has Operation Wolf style action! Love the different weapons you get to unlock as well! I will def be sinking hours into this game! Be sure to push all your adoring fans over in the arcade if they start crowding you!

Wow. I don't have a lot of time played yet, and I didn't play this much in the arcades, but it's amazing. You play the game like you're standing in front of the arcade while being transported into the game at various stages. When you're in the game is where Operation Warcade really shines. Flying the plane was awesome and I can't wait to see what else they have in store for me! I would put the fun and playability from a retro standpoint up there with Half-Life: Alyx. It's that much fun. The demo only offers one level. Had I known it would be this cool, I would have skipped the demo and bought it.

90년대 오락실 "오퍼레이션 울프"를 VR에 옮기고자 한 게임.

무한 탄창으로 총알을 난사하는 이른바 람보류의 건슈팅 게임이지만

수류탄을 던지는 손맛이 영 별로인데다

기본 모드에서는 적들이 미니어처로 나오는지라 맥빠지는 느낌이 있습니다.

스테이지 진행도중 중간중간 미니게임형식으로 시점이 변경되며

비행기도 몰아보고 칼던지기, 샷건, 쌍수무기 등을 체험할수 있는 점은 좋았습니다.

올드스쿨 게임에 많은걸 바랄수는 없겠지만 깊이가 없어서 아쉽네요.

게임자체는 할인기간에 산다면 나쁘지 않으니 추천을 누르겠습니다.

This game is the bees knees! Just Fantastic!
What I absolutely love (PRO's):
- Just like the old "Operation Wolf" game but then 1000X more immersion.
- Genius use of VR to feel you are right there shooting like a bad*ss.
- fantastic "force feedback" from my Oculus Quest 2 controllers
- The mini games are super immersive

What could be improved (Cons):
- The option (switch on/off) to have a little tutorial entering a mini game. Not an issue, there is just a slight learning curve but that is part of the game and replayability.

Conclusion: Buy this! It is amazing! I love playing this on Oculus Quest 2 through Virtual Desktop and love it.

This was one of my favorite games on oldschool platforms, and I already had this game on Viveport (where i already played for a couple of hours), i rebough it because it was included with the "Nostalgia Bundle".

Its a GREAT game, based on the original, but in 3D with "immersive zones" where you go down to the ground and fight in 1st person.

These are kinda like minigames, where you drive a truck with one hand while shooting with the other, or ride in a chopper, or fly a jet, or shoot arrow, or shoot a sniper, or take a high position and take out enemies below... and a few others like that.

Its pretty cool that even if there are at least a couple of these on every level, the devs managed to make them slightly different so they are not really a repeat over and over.

Each level has 3 special requirements specific of that level (kill 3 enemies with a granade, kill 5 enemies using crossbow, etc...) finishing the level AND doing the tasks gives gold stars, the amount of goldstars you unlock, also unlock upgrades for your weapons, and unlock new levels.

Performance was great with a gtx1080, audio, controls, all around worked as expected.

Imo this game for the price of the bundle is a very easy game to recommend. Im thoroughly enjoying this.

I've enjoyed Operation Warcade far more than I ever expected to - it's a really creative VR adaptation of a retro game concept and is actually more fun than most "native" VR shooting games. A VR co-op mode would really take this to the next level!

Just played half an hour of it so far, but instantly love it.

Really clever blend of old school, VR and good ol' shooting anything that moves, and everything that doesn't too!

It really carries the feel of Operation Wolf, with a well executed twist.

Bought 1976 straight away, and spent the next 30 minutes on that, which is also brilliant!

I look forward to a series of these.

8/10 would throw floating grenades again!

So far all I can say in terms of improvement is please add some kind of co-op feature.
Seeing the cabinet next to mine in the arcade made me hopeful to be able to play with my friends who also had VR headsets but alas it could not be.

OMG way more fun than i was expecting. Bought this game to satisfy my light gun itch and its done that and more. Feels more like your'e in a live action shooting gallery. Simple and well done with power up pov changes to add to the fun.
bought it for $5, would've been satisfied paying $20.

I absolutely love the vr action in this game, though I cant recommend it for the full $20. for even $10 or $15 it is completely worth it the sheer amount of variety within each level blows my mind. As a long time fan of light gun games, this game completely scratches the itch and transports you into how it felt to play them as a kid.

Um dos melhores jogos de VR!! Extremamente divertido! Apesar de ser FPS em primeira pessoa, não dá tontura ou sensação de enjoô, pois a movimentação do personagem se, dá na maioria das vezes, dentro de um trem em movimento (você fica numa porta aberta, que na verdade é a tela do fliperama. Muito divertido, estilo Rambo!!! Mete bala, flecha, granada, boooom!!! Tem até mira sniper!!! Fabuloso!

First and foremost this is fun! It doesn't take itself too seriously, and neither should the player, just go along for the ride.
This is not to say the game is poor in any way, it is in fact well crafted and at times really quite superb. Graphically clever and though with an occasional momentary hiccup, really good to look at. The game play is compelling and exciting, one of those where you have "just one more go" constantly!
Recommended for exciting compelling fun.

I don't recommend this game. It's not terrible, and plays fine. It's just, you can do a lot better than this. There are so many more VR shooter games available that are better than this one. This game was just kinda "meh" for me. I can see what they were going for with the game. I grew up in the 80's and played the hell out of Operation Wolf in the arcade. This feels like a bad VR knock-off of that. The stages are minimal, fairly flat, and uninteresting. They feel cobbled together rather than expertly crafted. There is so much room for improvement and polish here. This could be a fantastic game, banking on more than just nostalgia. As of right now I feel it's less than average. I'm disappointed in this game.

他のゲームは問題ないのに、このゲームだけ、VRHMDではなくOSの標準デバイスで音声が再生される。
そのため、一々OSの音声再生デバイスを指定しなければならない。
こんなのありえないでしょ。

どうしてこんなに「やって当然」「修正して当然」の事項が放置されるのかな。
steamのvrゲームは、自信を持って他者にすすめることのできるゲームが余りに少ない。
おすすめしないゲームだらけ。

VR today is fun, but it seems as if the development teams are pretty much focused on certain genres of gaming. You have the first person shooter types - Half-Life, Boneworks, Pavlov, etc. Then you have your 'experiences' which aren't really games but rather immersive movies where you might have to point at some things or solve puzzles. Then of course you have your beat based games such as Beat Saber and Audica, Synthriders, etc.
I love VR, don't get me wrong. But most of the games are pretty much the same style of gameplay. Sure, there are exceptions - Op. Warcade is one of them.
I've never played a game like this in VR - not only does it give props to the old school style shooter arcade cabinets of old, it literally puts you right in the game itself. Not just shooting troops, but flying airplanes, helicopters, manning gunboats, etc.

This game ROCKS because it's so innovative. What's sad is that there hasn't been any activity from the team for quite some time.

Even for the price point it's at now - if you are yearning for something different - just buck up and buy it.
Stay away from the bundle though - the other ones are pretty meh.

This game is phenomenal! it's like going back to your childhood in the arcade playing Operation Wolf, Time Crisis or Silent Scope. If you enjoyed playing arcade light gun shooters as a child and like Super Hot VR this is the perfect game for you. Absolute VR essential. Perfect for when you just want to sit down and chill but still want to play VR. it really scratches that VR shooter itch when you are feeling lazy

Let me preface this by saying, I was not expecting a ton for the price and I have a bad habit of not wanting to play vr at the end of the day on long work days.. I usually want to sit on the couch and console game. This game changed my expectations of what a good cheap can can be and given me a new avenue to enjoy vr at the end of a long day when I dont want to "duck and cover" in Pavlov. Not to mention I grew up as a child of the 80s and it really hits on my sense of nostalgia!
