Unique game with a pretty fun gameplay idea. It somehow makes it quite fun to play with the one strike mechanic, and each and every character feels different, to the point you will actually have to learn to play the game once again to master the character properly. And be careful, the DLC completely breaks the balance and makes it nearly impossible to complete the game.

It's a very limited game for the price. You can literally beat the hardest difficulty with one hand and looking from the side of your eyes. Unless you have it on a local venue with many other players to play with, it's not gonna last longer than 10mins without a online multiplayer. Great game, but not worth the money spent on it. Hopefully Two Strikes will make this better, but the differences there already worry me a bit (heavy and light attacks on a 1 "strike" 2D game don't work as well if you have 2 strikes for light attacks and 1 for heavy. The third game will have 3 low, 2 medium and 1 heavy for death? Come on.

It's that retro game that you get for less than a Coke so why not. Half an hour ago I finished the game three times, 2 in arcade mode, 1 in 1 kills mode, both in easy difficulty.

I won't say it is a fighting game because you only get one attack move of each character, and one hit will kill for you and your opponent, timing and when to attack/defiance is the core. Like most fighting games, characters in One Strike are not all that balanced, from the character selection page I picked that guy with a long katana to hit my opponent at a longer distance, and he gave me the first successful run.

As the achievement popped up, I noticed players using another guy had the highest accomplished rate and that's when I realized Hangaku, the guy who uses a ridiculously long hook is almost a cheat in the game. His hook can go more than half of the screen, with the longest melee weapon in the game I win easily in 5 seconds. The only guy who may be a threat is the ninja throws Shuriken, but he wouldn't do it at the beginning of the game. As a result, anyone who picks Hangaku in Easy difficulty is very likely to beat the game.

I also bought the DLC but the extra maps/characters do not show up. If any devs read this review please fix it.

If you enjoy retro games this could be a good pick. I recommend this game.

Fantastic in singleplayer but takes a lot of fiddling with the controller configuration to get working. Two player mode does not work. Developer has stated they do not intend to fix this major oversight. Rather disappointing given the high quality of the music and gameplay otherwise.

[h1] Gameplay [/h1] Eine direkte Story hat das Spiel nicht. Es gibt 4 Spielmodi (Arcade, Team Duel, Tournament & The Only Life). Zudem gibt es insgesamt 7 Kämpfer (mit DLC gibts dann noch mal 3 zusätzliche dazu). Jeder Kämpfer hat seine eigene Waffe und Bewegungsaktionen. Im The Only Life Modus müssen wir jeden Grundkämpfer (also alle 7) nacheinander besiegen. Beim Arcade Modus ist es genau das selbe mit dem Unterschied das man 5 Leben pro Kampf hat (der Gegner auch also muss man eine Runde 5 mal gewinnen um den Gegner zu besiegen). beim Team Duel wählt man 3 Kämpfer und muss 7 Runden jeweils Random 3er Teams besiegen. Zu Guter letzt gibt es dann noch den Tournament Mode wo 8 Kämpfer Random an einem Turnier teilnehmen und wir 3 Kämpfe nacheinander gewinnen müssen um zu siegen (dabei kann man die CPU Kämpfe skippen oder sie sich ansehen). Das Gimmick des Spiels ist das man mit eine mSchlag tötet oder getötet wird was zwar nichts neues ist aber hier sehr cool umgesetzt wurde. Jeder Modus kann in 3 Schwierigkeitsgraden gespielt werden (Easy, Medium & Hard). Jeder Kämpfer hat natürlich seine Stärken & Schwächen die man lernen muss. Die Chiptune Musik ist gut gemacht und die Pixelgrafik der Stages sehen ordentlich aus

[h1] Achievement Schwierigkeit 5/10 [/h1] Es gibt insgesamt 72 Erfolge. Hierfür muss man mit 6 Charakteren (Ausnahme sind Oni & die 3 DLC Charaktere) jeden Modus auf jeden Schwierigkeitsgrad beenden. Auf Leicht läuft man Ruckzuck durch. Auf Medium geht es noch ganz gut. Aber auf Hard muss man die einzelnen Bewegungen & Moves der Charaktere schon genauer kennen und viel Geduld haben. Aber es ist alles gut machbar

Die Pixeloptik verleiht dem Spiel einen gewissen Charme und die Chiptune Musik passt Perfekt dazu. Das Gameplay hat mir auch sehr viel Spaß gemacht. Ich kann das Spiel auf jeden Fall sehr Empfehlen, es verdient definitiv mehr Aufmerksamkeit

This game is a gem. I've gotten it for I think 2€ on sale, and I don't regret any cent spend on this game.
One Strike is a charming Retro-Themed 4-Button-Fighting-Game.
No Jumps, No Cross-Ups, No Supers, No Special-Moves, No Team-Shenanigans.
Pure 1 on 1 Weaponbased Combat.

And One Strike delievers on that like nothing!
Yes, yes, the Game has a really tight Theming and Identity, if you do not like Fighting Games that are "basic" and don't allow for hours of Training-Mode-Sweating, this won't be for you.
If you want to put time into learning extremely long combos or crazy Knockdown-Set-Ups like most modern Fightinggames want you to, you won't like this game.
If you like the more strategic and more methodical gameplay-aspect of Fightinggames, you will like One Strike.
With only 1 Point of Health to spare, meaning that each and every attack landed by your opponent will kill you, you have to be more thoughtfull about positioning, attacking and the timing of your block.
Yes, I wrote timing of you block.

Controls:

The game is played in a simple matter:

You get an Attack-Button, a Block-Button, a Left-Dash and a Right-Dash-Button, plus moving Forward and Backward with the D-Pad / Control-Stick.
You are not able to "hold" your guard, whenever you press block, your character will block by any means, just to leave themselves vulnerable afterwards.
The same goes with attacks: Pressing the Attack-Button will also leave you quite vulnerable, if you've missed your opponent that is!

The Dashes are mostly for Positioning,
Yet the Developer decided to use the Dashes to give Certain Characters additional Attacks.

Theming, Graphics and Music:

Okay:
I HAVE to mention this right now:
The music is great.

You cannot believe how often I've played against good friends of mine, moving / vibing to the backgroundmusic and having a great feeling.
The music brings a lot of hype and tension to the game, feels very distinct from stage to stage and just feeds into the overall theming of Medieval Fantasy Japan.
The locations you will fight over your life also range from a wide variety, from a Bridge inside of a Village with Viewers in the Background to a Seaside-Stone-Cliff, everything is there and fits perfectly.

The graphics are lovely to look at, reminding of the old SNES-Fighting-Games and having TONS of charm, if you are into it, of course.
Tho since One Strike is definitley younger than the mentioned 16-Bit-Console, all the animations One Strike has to Over are Smooth, very Detailed and extremely fluent.

Also: The character-select-screen shows Paintings of your Character, which is really charming, and while it doesn't really fit into the retro-aspect that well in my opinion, still makes for a better vieweing of the character you will maybe play as,
since the Pixel-Art-Sprites do not show many facial features. In-Fact, the Sprites are Faceless.

And I, personally, have come to really like that design, since you will be able to still feel the emotions of each character within their Attack-,Dash- and Defend-Animations.

Character-Diversity:

So, with 1 Button for Attacks, 1 Button already dedicated for Blocking and 2 Dash-Buttons, the Characters CANNOT be that different from each other, right?

WRONG!

Even without the "Rise of the Dragons"-DLC, the initial Roster of 7 Characters contains different Fightinggame-Archetpypes.
From more Zoning-Based Characters such as Hangaku to the defensive Walls like Soujirou but also the Jack-of-All-Trades, in this case Kenji, are in this game.
Now, the Controls are Universal, yes, BUT:
One Strikes Roster features characters that trade their Forward-Dash for another Special-Attack (Oni), their Block for a quick close-ranged Attack (Hangaku)
or even, in case of Dragon, their Block for the ability to become invisible.

The characters feel very distinct from one another, and most of them, if not all, are surprisingly recognizable!

I won't be going over all the characters, but you can trust me, and probably each other person who has played One-Strike for more than 10 minutes, that the characters feel very different and have different Strengths and Weaknesses.

Single-Player:

Now, the Single-Player features 1 mode abscent from multiplayer:

"The Only Life"
Where you basically want to defeat all Characters while
only having one life.Getting hit once means you have to restart the Mode,
not unlike any other Fighting-Games' Survival-Mode.

Arcade, Tournament and Team-Duel are also Playable in Single-Player, just against computercontrolled Opponents.

Multiplayer:

Arcade:

Each Player chooses a Character, gets 5 life and the first Person to lose all of them, loses the game.

Team Duel:

Each Player chooses a Team of 3 different Characters, then orders them to their liking and proceeds to play against the other Players' Team.
There are no "Supports" or Tag-in-Mechanics, the only difference to Arcade is that each character has exactly one life, and once taken out, cannot be played anymore.
Thus leaving the next-chosen Character to take down the opposing team. Once your 3rd Character gets hit, you have lost the Team Duel.

Tournament:

Compete in a Single-Elimination-Tournament to become the Champ!
I have to confess, this Mode is the Mode I've played the least amount, so I might rework this part later on.

One Strike has become a Party-Staple amongst me and my friends. The game won't be the top of the conversation that often, but once it is, it is with a lot of confidence and great memories.
I personally just can recommend you this game, if you have the people to play it with, if you have opportunities to just play and enjoy this game for like 1 hour once in a while.
I cannot see myself grinding this games single-player, but I am sure down for a nice First-to-2 in Arcade-Mode when asked for.

One Strike looks like a crappy 2D retro pixel fighter/versus arcade game, but it isn't. It's more of a crappy 2D retro pixel QTE/twitch game. There's no health bars, it's one hit, one kill, so there's none of the interesting component of these games where you adjust your strategy and work hard picking the right moves at the right times...instead, this is a game of watching the enemy then striking in response to the right stimuli... yeah, it's a QTE reflex game. And it's bad, real bad.

From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.

The artwork here is terrible, it's a blend of old retro pixel "art" used as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics, with intersitual screens featuring some of the most amateurish "Baby's First Wacom Tablet" style drawings I've ever hurt my eyes on. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget to arrange someone who can do graphics properly, or lack of talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result of these decisions.

There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision.

The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts.

Because this is designed for consoles, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the inferior console gaming appliances that the game was designed for. These are unfortunate compromises and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was a second thought for the console-centric developers. The game is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for consoles forces upon a game. Once more, console peasants have made gaming worse for everyone.

These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.

The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 6 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected.

One Strike has the gamer gouging price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam.

Sort of plays like Bushido Blade from PS1. Although there's no dismemberment like there was in that game. You get hit once, you die. It's an easy to understand but difficult to master game. You're constantly switching between blocking, attacking, and backing away. One wrong move means death. My one complaint is I wish they're was more content. The DLC adds a few more things but the game still feels really bare bones. I'm hoping they release more content in the future as I liked this game.

I bought two games from the developer(One Strike, Two Strikes) and gave him two best reviews.

After adding friend on 1.31th.2023, i made some feedback and suggested updating a beautiful art cover of One Strike.

One Strike has a ugly art cover which is not completely filled with the cover frame, there shows a large black edge.

On weekend, the developer always had some dubious pretext to pretend to update.

For example(Friend message):
he said he was busy in doing a job when i found he was playing game;
or
he said he was making dinner but i still found he was playing game.
(he said he was doing a job or making dinner, and game shows him playing status)
ok, ok, ok, ok, ok, ok,
the developer has never told a lie!!!

Over a month, today is 2.20th.2023, it has still not been updated.On 3.18th.2023, i had left messages several times, but the developer haven't replied me. Just now, i found that he deleted me and the art cover still have no update.

The developer had given an absolute assurance that it would update a beautiful art cover of One Strike, but so far he has not done...

Two Strikes is EA Beta-Testing game, i thought he would run away with money according to sincerity and honesty from the developer.

So, this was a pleasant surprise. I had it on my wishlist for a while and finally picked it up, and wow.

One Strike is a retro style 2D brawler. The graphics are very retro and the soundtrack is an absolutely kicking 16 bit sound one. Fantastic to listen to.

The gameplay is simple, yet really deep. All the charaters can move, attack, block, and can either dash or do a unique move. Each character feels very different, which is something not a lot of fighting games can pull off. They each feel distinct. Unfortunately they aren't very balanced. Kenji, is a basic swordsman who is just medicore at everything. Meanwhile you have another character with a ball and chain and ridiiculous range, whose only downside is being unable to block. The games DLC adds additoinal characters that can throw weapons and have wide range attacks and attack much quicker then anyone else, respectively. The balance is defintely off, but it's still fun.

The game has four modes, an arcade mode with every charater and five lives each. Which works out to either 35 or 50 fights depending on if you have the DLC. Problem is, there's no continues. So if you get to like fight 30 of 35 and mess up you need to start all over again. There's also a "One Life" mode where you fight everyone one after another in a gauntlet and you die in one hit, and so do they. There's a tournament, which is self explantory. And a team battle mode, where you get 3 fighters to use and face a team of another 3. And a versus mode. So there's a LOT to do here.

Given the price, it's absolutely worth picking up. But it's gonna take many strikes before you end up mastering this one.

プレイする分には純粋にやりがいが増えて非常に楽しいが
実績解除狙いならDLC無しの状態でやるのがいいだろう
(新キャラ達は新たに実績が追加されるわけではないので)
あとフルコントローラサポートは嘘っぱちですｗ

2021年の旧正月セールで買いました。
まだすべてのステージをクリアしてはいないのですが、30分ほど遊んだところで惚れこんでしまったのでひとまず日本語レビュー一番乗りです。

＜基本＞
本ゲームはカテゴライズするならば２D格闘ゲームといったところですが、非常に特徴的なのは、体力ゲージが存在しないことです。では攻撃を食らうとどうなるのか？一撃で死にます。
他のゲームでいえば、３Dですがブシドーブレードといえば伝わりやすいでしょうか。攻撃は基本的に構え→攻撃の順で出るため、考えなしに出すとガードで容易に防がれます。そのほか、ジャンプがない代わりに地上での高速ステップが可能であり、地上で間合いを図りつつのじりじりとした差し合いがこのゲームの肝となります。

＜キャラ＞
と、こう書くと地味～なゲームだとの印象を持つかもしれませんが、バリエーション豊かなキャラクターたちがそんなネガティブな印象を感じさせません。前ステップができない代わりに構えのモーションが小さく攻撃を悟られづらいキャラ、鎖鎌による遠距離攻撃が可能なキャラ、リーチが短い代わりに2連続攻撃が可能で相手にガードの択を迫れるキャラなどちょっと触っただけでもわかるくらいいろいろなキャラクターを楽しめます。これぞ格ゲーですね。

＜グラフィック・BGM＞
グラフィックはスト2どころかそれより前の世代といったところでしょうか、それでもキャラは特徴をとらえているし背景も豊富で飽きさせません。また、チップチューン調のBGMは私は大好きです。レトロゲーム感がよく出ていますね。

＜対戦＞
対戦モードがありますが、オンライン対戦はできない？ようです。そこが残念ですね…

以上、ほぼ褒めてしかいませんが、実際数十分遊んだくらいでは気になる点が見つからないゲームです。ボリュームは値段相応ですが、格ゲーが好きな方も、逆にちょっと苦手だなって方も新鮮な気持ちで楽しめるのではないでしょうか。少なくとも私はそうでした。おすすめです。

This game is a mixture of frustrating and one leg up on a stump looking proudly up into the air rewarding. This game teaches you that hesitation is defeat, sorry kiddos. Whenever I play this game with others we're all laughing and getting super competetive talking like old warriors such as "IT'LL TAKE YOU YEAAAAAAARS BEFORE YOU CAN CHALLENGE ME!" or " Did you not know that the reason I won was because I can hear the wing beat of a butterfly 4 years away?

My only problem with this game is..... WHY IS IT NOT ONLINE!?

A fun proof of concept easy to pick up arcade fighting game.
The features and game modes are quite limited, but for a game this cheap and simple, I give it a pass.
There are techs and tricks to be learned here of course, but you'll find the exploits soon enough.
Parts of the soundtrack are really good tho.

One Strike is a simple, yet complex, 1 on 1 fighting game. All it takes is one hit and you're out! It features 7 characters, each with their own style of fighting. It is great to pick up and play a few games with your friends. It offers multiplayer and single player, and some game modes that offer a little variety. It is a great casual fighter to play in small sessions, and definitely worth $4.99. I also own this on the Nintendo Switch, which is where it shines best. If you happen to own a Nintendo Switch, I'd recommend that version for its portability.

Every match is like rolling a dice and guessing what number it will land on. Beating the game with every character chipped away at my sanity and surely shaved a good 5 years off my life....

First this looked like trash to me, but surprise, surprise, this had indeed depth and requires skill to master it.
The graphics and the music are not my thing, but the animations are fine. I totally hate the controls but with a little help of a custom controller layout all is well and good.

Extrêmement fier d´avoir découvert ce petit bijou,
One strike est un jeu de combat 2D avec comme concept... Eh bien... qu´il suffit que d´un seul coup pour éliminer son adversaire, mais cela en reste la même chôse pour vous.

C´est bien de là que One Strike se démarque, vous pourriez vous dire qu´il suffit d´être le plus rapide pour éliminer son adversaire, hors ce jeu propose des gardes qui permettent de facilement retourner votre tentative d´attaque, en une opportunité de vous éliminer.

Vous vous diriez alors qu´il suffit juste d´attendre que votre adversaire se vautre pour contre-attaquer ? Eh bien, Même pas, car comme Bushido Blade, les différents personnages possèdent de divers armes [i](Sabres, KunaÏs, Lances et j´en passe, je vous laisse réviser vos leçons de Japon féodal)[/i] et donc, de diverses portées, habilitées et donc, de différentes tactiques.

Donc pour le cas que j´ai évoqué, une attaque jugée vulnérable à vos yeux, pourrait en fait avoir une plus longue portée que vous le pensez comme Oni, pourrait rapidement répliquer avec une seconde attaque après votre garde comme Tomoe, ou même être juste un moyen pour vous obliger à répliquer à votre tour en reculant rapidement avec Kenji.

D´une apparence simple, ce jeu donne quand même de s´adapter aux tactiques de votre adversaire, pour espérer réussir à le toucher.

Au-delà du de la prise en main du jeu, Je veux quand même appuyer la bande son du jeu, étant surtout fan du thème de Tomoe.

Aussi, chose à savoir, ce jeu possède de pas mal de modes de jeu différents, s´adaptant à des sessions de jeu solo ou en multijoueurs.

One of the game's labbel is "casual". That is misleading. While is really easy learning to play, the more you play, the deeper it gets. Play it with a friend, and you will get amazed at how frequently you both will be discovering how to counter this or that unit or technique, that minutes ago seemed unbeatable. That cycle will repeat and repeat until you both will be playing sword duels that will make Kenshin Himura look like a noob.
This is a excelent couch game, especially for the price.

One Strike – єдине творіння студії Retro Reactor, яке побачило світ 3 листопада 2017 року; після цього про студію майже нічого не чутно, що шкода, адже їхній дебют вийшов напрочуд вдалим, просто не знайшов широкої слави.

[*] One Strike – це щось на кшталт Mortal Kombat, але водночас ні, щось схоже на One Finger Death Punch, але теж не зовсім. Знайти точний аналог дуже складно: бути «ще однією такою грою» майже неможливо, а от бути One Strike – це вже певна честь. Геймплей зводиться до того, щоб убити ворога, завдавши всього одного удару. Так, на словах звучить просто, але, як відомо, й «Війну і мир» написати нібито теж не складно.

У нашого героя є кілька дій: удар, блок, ривок назад і вперед, а також звичайна хода. Використовуючи цей набір, нам потрібно завдати супротивнику вирішального удару – у той момент, коли в нього немає блока і він перебуває в зоні досяжності нашої атаки. Все максимально просто за формулою, але далеко не завжди просто на практиці.

Усього в грі сім персонажів – це типові японські воїни, серед яких є навіть бог Оні. Усі вони різні, і до кожного потрібен свій підхід: хоч управління в усіх однакове, радіус удару, швидкість атаки, захист і темп руху сильно відрізняються. У цьому й полягає суть One Strike.

У грі є чотири режими.
Єдина життя – у вас лише один шанс на помилку, і потрібно перебити всіх доступних персонажів.
Аркада – те саме, але ви й ворог маєте по 5 спроб. Завдання незмінне – перемогти всіх суперників.
Командна дуель – розтягнутий, дуже розтягнутий режим: ми обираємо трьох бійців, задаємо порядок і б’ємося проти ворожих команд; у кожному раунді персонажі відроджуються, але гру зарахують як пройдену тільки за героя, що стоїть на чолі команди.
Турнір – мій улюблений режим. Ви обираєте персонажа й вас кидає в випадкову турнірну сітку, де ви боретеся з тими, хто дійшов до тієї ж стадії. Програв – вилетів із турніру.

Вердикт:[i] One Strike приємно дивує. Дивлячись на скріншоти й геймплейні відео, здається, що гра не варта уваги, але насправді це дуже затягувальний і крутий варіант заміни звичних файтингів. Ви навіть не уявляєте, як горить ваш товариш, коли ніяк не може пробити ваш блок.[/i]

When looking for a fighting game, there are a few requirements that I hope to encounter before making a purchase. Solid mechanics, a good mix of different characters, some depth to explore and an interesting premise and/or concept to make it stand out. One Strike have all of these and as a result, it's unquestionably a good game. It's sharp, has a good learning curve and also distills its fighting game core to its basic components, making for a good introductory game for anyone that wants to get into the genre. This is worthy of applause, since fighting games are difficult to get into at best and can be outright hostile to new players at worst.

And yet, as I write this, I'm unsure if I should recommend this game or not.

You see, One Strike is exactly what it looks and sounds like: a fighting game where everyone dies in one hit. Nothing less, but sadly, not really anything more. There are four singleplayer modes that all end up being (basically) one of three things: matches against AI where you either have five lives, three lives or one life. That's it. No story, no online component, nothing. As much as I like it, I feel like there could have been much more there, and should have been.

On top of that, the UI is barebones to a frustrating level. There's no "ESC menu" when you're in a match, meaning no quick restart and no quitting out of a match if you misclicked and entered the wrong mode (for instance). There are also a number of menu screens between the starting menu and you actually getting into a game, including a mode description which only has a function the first time you go through it. This makes going into a game slow and cumbersome, which would be fine if it was necessary - but it isn't. That's what makes it so frustrating, as the game deserves better than having these elements of irritation in there.

There are also no options. At all. So there's that.

If you're going into this game as a fighting game, then it's very good. In terms of pure mechanics, it's fun, and the different difficulty modes have a great balance to them. If you're out to learn the basics of fighting games, then it's also good. It might also be decent if you have a friend to play with. That is why my review is a recommendation, because for what it is, it's good. But for anyone else who might only want a game to play? Sadly, I'm obliged to say that you just won't get the content here. For the general audience, this is probably a pass.

Do Not Buy this if you plan to use it with a Steamlink, No Controllers work regardless if you enable or disable ps,xbx, or generic support. I have yet to hear anything back from the dev since I posted about this weeks ago. Only way you can use a controller on steamlink is if your willing to go through the pain of binding keyboard buttons to your Controller. You have been warned~!

Nostalgia everywhere!

This game gave me goosebumps while I remembered all my golden days playing Master System, Mega Drive, Gameboy and other video games.

But talking about the game... The game is really well polished and balanced. You have one chance to defeat your opponent and mastering the defense, attack and dash timing is essential. At first you can think: "What the! This character is too easy", but them you get to play at HARD difficulty and you see that the game is pretty well balanced and hard to master.

And oh, the music.... it's just amazing. I actually stayed minutes in the game title screen just to listen to the full song. All of the songs are great, and also the sound effects.

The graphics are really good. I like the way the developers balanced the high def graphics with the 8 bits. You actually see that the 8 bit was a design choice and the developers have the skills to deliver highly detailed graphics.

The controls could be better, though. Be able to rebind them would be really cool.

I'm giving an 8.5/10 to this game. Looking forward to see it flourish and new deliveries from these developers.

One Strike is a 2D fighting game with great gameplay, art, and soundtrack. It has references and elements that the lovers of the 90's fighting games, like Bushido Blade and Samurai Shodown, will really like.

Due to the mechanics of one-hit kill, and also for each character possessing unique abilites, it's essencial to read the oponent's next step to become victorious, turning the battle very cool. The gameplay is also very simple and fluid, making it easy to learn each character's techniques.

It also has various 1P and 2P modes, like the "Tournament" and "Team Duel" mode, turning the game more challenging and fun.

If you like 2D fighting games, One Strike is a highly recommended game!

This is a very good little indie game! I don't see many indie fighting games, so as a fan of the genre that's a good thing to have. The one-hit mechanic is SUPER cool given the samurai setting, very adequate, you feel the tension in each match, even they being so short (less than 10 seconds many times).

PROS
- One-hit-kill mechanic that sets this game apart from most else
- Interesting characters with unique moves and different combat styles
- Very short matches make up for a unique experience in a fighting game
- Nice pixelart characters and environments
- Little indie game to kill time and play with friends
- Low Pricing

CONS
- Few characters to play. Probably the developer will add more over time
- It may get a little repetitive playing against AI for some time, so bring some friends!

Definetely worth it if you like samurai, fighting games, local co-op, pixelart or if you're just a nice guy who likes to support indie devs. Honestly I have never played a game like this.

In this game, timing is the only thing that matters, timing to move back, to attack
each character have its own attack move & weapon
each weapon have its own differences in attack distance, attack speed, ect wich makes the game more challenging to do against ai
do this with friends while you are drunk and you'll have a lot of fun trying to be the fastest
I always imagene how good games with these graphics should have been in the 90s on nes or snes

One Strike is a challenging, fun and very balanced game.

I have had the pleasure of seeing this game grow and become this marvel, I am very happy now you can be playing.

All modes are amazing. With a very good leveling and guaranteed fun, the mechanics of a stroke and end is the most incredible of all, it brings a more tense and interesting atmosphere for the game.

I can guarantee that the game will bring a lot of fun, whether in singleplayer or multiplayer mode.

[h1] About this game and my opinion about it [h1]

So the controls on keyboard are pretty messed up atleast for me but luckily this has controller support which suggest you play with since it makes the game easier. The game has 6 characters they have unique moves and you can make a strategie with them if you want. The game will feature trading cards very soon so thats gonna be fun most likely. And you can play with your friends but if you dont have 2 controllers it may be unfair for them or you since it gets pretty hard. The difficulity mesaurements are great the hard mode isnt some extreme stuff its just for people with more skill and the normal is pretty much who played the genre and the easy is who are new to the genre and the style of the game.
The game has 4 very interesting mode and i wont go too much into the modes at all. The game doesnt need a story to be honest its good as it is like this. And the soundtrack is most likely the best thing about this game it just fits with the game so good i love the soundtrack they made it really good. And the pixel graphics are amazing as well as the little details on the screen like moving grass and more. And the games reality is quite good its one hit and your down its like real life.

[h1] One strike, the perfect way to slash op your foes in glorious 8-bit combat. [/h1]

One strike is wonderful wonderful game about 6 samurai fighting eachoter in ancient japan. This is achieved with a measely 6 buttons to make your character move across the screen, block and slash up your opponents. The name "One Strike" comes from the mechanic that once you're hit, you're dead; this makes the game ever more tense as you are trying to down your foes and save your own life.

[b] Introduction [/b]

One strike is a two dimensional fighter with a one hit, one kill mechanic. Your primary objective is to kill your opponent, this is done by hitting them with whatever weapon your character has; this varies from character making the ways you fight and fight every enemy more thoughtfull and gives the game more depth. All of this is supported by the games amazing soundtrack that puts this game in my book as a "Good Game" as i know i will play this game many times because of how much fun i have with it.

[b] Combat [/b]

This the most important part of a 2D fighting game and it does it very well, not that it's perfect however it is near to perfect. Each character has the ability to: move forward, backward, dash forward and backward, block and attack. The movement, although having different animations, are practically the same for every character. The block and attack are very different, each character has a different weapon, this ranges from a simple sword to a throwable knife with a chain attached to it so it can be pulled back. Each character has their own weapon and utilizes it in their way, one character may use his sword to block directly while the other swings around his staff so fast he blocks enemy attack with them. These blocks last for a few seconds after which you are vulnerable until you press the block key again; this is done on purpose so that someone cannot sit still blocking for the entire match so that the enemy still has a chance to cut your wang off.

Attacking can be done during the times your enemy isn't blocking, this does leave you vulnerable if you do miss and not being able to block instantly makes you think wether you should attack now or later in order to main your enemy. This level of depth is something that i had at first not expected from a game like this, being as this is a one hit one kill system the combat system is not like street fighter where you mash the same button and eventually win.

The addition that every character has it's own weapon and blocks is also very important, this makes you as a player change the way you play the game according to your character and to your enemy, that means that there are 216 different ways to play the same game; which is pretty impressive.

[b] Soundtrack [/b]

The soundtrack of this game is also phenomenal, it's fast paced and has an almost japanese theme to it. It's very nice to listen to and it accentuates the great combat of One Strike. I cannot stress enough how important the soundtrack is to this game, it is absolutely amazing and one of the best i have heard in a long time. I find it accelerates a little slow however when it's going it's absolutely wonderful and i feel like a japanese samurai 800 years ago fighting for my life. dashing across the landscape in intense combat.

[b] Gamemodes [/b]

There are 4 different was to play One Strike, One life; where you have one life and have to beat 5 other characters. Arcade where you have to beat 5 characters however you both have 5 lives. Team deathmatch where you need to beat 5 teams each 3 characters with one life each. and Tournament where 8 characters figh in a tournament grid, so 1v1's until the finale, all these gamemodes can be set on easy, medium or hard which brings me to my next point

[b] Artificial Intelligence [/b]

The AI in this game is quite good, it knows how to play the game and does so with supprising accuracy, often it was ammusing to see the hard AI fight ittself just because of how good it was. I have heard complaints about the easy AI being too simple however there's a reason it's called "Easy" if you want to easily win then that's the gamemode for you. To me only the "Hard" bots prove a real challenge that i struggle to beat.

[b] Minor issues [/b]

There are minor technical problems such as in tournament mode both players being called "P1" in the finale etc. These are all very small things that i see other reviewers heavily criticising however this is not a gamebreaking aspect in any way so i'm going to leave it at this because it is not important.

[b] Conclusion [/b]

One strike is a wonderful game with combat that feels rewarding, the sounds not being overused and nice to listen to; all supported by a masterful soundtrack that i'm still listening to while writing this review. For it's relatively low price this is a game i recommend anyone that likes video games to play; I myself don't like 2D fighters too much and i was able to enjoy it all the same.

Por que eu recomendo One Strike?

1- Estilo gráfico old School. Dá até gosto de jogar em telas menores. Animações fluidas desta pixel art.
2 - controles simples (o que não quer dizer que o jogo seja fácil. Há uma curva rápida de aprendiZagem, mas que traz boa diversão principalmente quando o player 2 é seu amigo.
3 - Caracterisitco jogo de luta.
4 - Som e efeitos não deixam a desejar.
5 - Personagens bem construídos arte linda na seleção dos mesmos.
6 - dá pra usar teclado e joystic
7 - Processamento leve

O que pode melhorar?

1 - Ter mais fases
2 - Modo história com cutscenes
3 - outros idiomas (pelo menos o português), mas não atrapalha em nada no jogo

It's an amazing tribute to old school fight games!

The strongest points of One Strike are the fact of each duel is a mini heart attack at the end, the weight of animations and the screenshake create a very good mood when you cut some necks or strip a belly off! The music and SFX are dramatic and the pixel art graphics are beautiful!

Each character has a very particular way of fight, wich is great cause you have to try a lot of different tatics to win.

This game has a very cool mood into the samurai way-of-life!

This game is oddly charming. This might have to do with the fact that the game's pixel art and normal art combined with its smooth gameplay and enticing soundtrack is rather well done. As far as I can tell, there isn't many bugs and I haven't tried out all the modes yet, but from the base game alone, I can tell it's very well done. I have achieved all modes of the One Life except for Very Hard which I haven't unlocked, so I'll base this opinion on those quirks alone. Every character is balanced in a specific way. The first one, The Swordsman, (I couldn't really get their names as the font is really hard to look at,) is basic enough to learn the game with. He has a guard that is activated with H and an attack that swings outward with G. He can also dash backwards and forwards with the T and Y keys respectively. I personally like The Chain Swinger as she has zero guarding, but can easily attack targets from a distance with her G attack and can swing faster in close quarters if she is that close with her H attack. It's not too bad of a game as it reminds me of others such as DropKick and Mortal Kombat. It is simplistic enough that it isn't too hard and not too easy. It's balanced just right to where you feel a sense of accomplishment when you make a finishing blow on a target and don't feel annoyed as much when you lose.

Pros:
-The gameplay is well done. No character feels out of place here. Each have their own strengths and weaknesses that make them strong against certain targets and weaker against others.
-The pixel art is very good for the time. It is reminiscence of older japanese cultures as what I picked up was that all the characters in the game use a specific type of japanese weapon. While I may not know the specifics of the swords, I do know that the last character, The Sai Wielder, uses double sais in her tactics which I believe was used in old japanese lore.
-The soundtrack and sounds are all approriate for its timeperiod. They don't sound completely off and instead enchance the game's overall appearance making you feel like you are fighting others somewhere in older Japan.

Cons:
-I found a weird bug that happens specifically with The Sai Wielder. If she dies and the opponent dashes to her before the revenge and other buttons appear, she can glide across the ground back to the other side. This isn't too deterimental as it doesn't happen a lot, but I found it odd that it happens at all.
-Another wonky thing I found is that the hitboxes for some abilities are rather...quirky, I guess. For example, if you use Sai Wielder's Attack just before The Chain Swinger uses her G attack, you can get the hitboxes rather unresponsive to an attack to the Chain Swinger unless you dash into her again and attack. This is also a weird bug that occurs, but I have no idea how it works. It also happens really frequently, but it's activated by player response to AI reactions. It's not too bad, but I've had a few times where the attack should of hit her and it goes right through. I'm not sure if it's even truly a bug either, it might just be how the Sai Wielder is played.
-The controls take some time to adapting to. I don't like that you can't change them because I only used a keyboard to play the game as it was all I had. It's just weird, that's all.

Overall: I'd give it a solid 7/10 or 8/10.

Comments: The game works well with what it has. Although there are some random bugs that may occur, they don't detract too much from the presentation overall. The gameplay, soundtrack, and pixel art all work well and together they make a charming game that doesn't require too much from the player.

Edit to the current review: Found another bug, but it's only purely visual. Somehow, on the final tournament battle, you end up with two 1P. The battle is the same as it should be from how it looks on the tournament screen normally, but when it says who is fighting who next, that shows up instead of your actual opponent. I'll see if the glitch happens in other modes other than easy in tournament. This will happen even if your opponent is the same as you. A similar glitch that happens is if you are in the final stages of the tournament and then quit, the profiles from the last match that would of happened get overlayed with the profiles from the current match. Specifically, this seems to do with the other glitch of the 1P getting overlayed with the actual opponent. This also happens even if a CPU wins and takes your place as the opponent. The person on the right is always refferred to as Player 1 even though Player 1 can't even be over in that bracket. I found another such glitch that happens if a CPU wins. If they win, their profile gets overlayed with where they were in the last tournament. So you might end up with a Staff Wielder background combined with a Swordswoman foreground. Luckily, this only happens in the first round as the background of the previous winner stays there and only the foreground moves up.

A novel one on one fighter in the vein of Bushido Blade, Dive Kick and Nidhogg where the key to victory is not with insane complex combos or special moves but with quick timing and anticipating your opponent's own moves because as the title implies, it only takes ONE STRIKE to down a combatant.

While it appears relatively simple on the surface, each fighter has their own unqiue movements and attacks, making for a variety of match ups and thus strategies. In the mold of "easy to learn, hard to master", it actually makes it a sell for both casual and hardcore players as multiplayer with friends can easily add as much depth as you are prepared to give it in return. Full disclosure, I was only able to play a sizable amount of the single player only, yet the appeal of verses mode is clear.

Against the AI, it did provide a good challenge, with multiple difficulties and modes including arcade and tournaments. While there is a great variety to each fighter in terms of both movement and attacks, adding further to different strategies, I did find some easier to play as than others. In one case not only was I able to stream roll through arcade with ease, when the AI played as the same character, they also did the same to me. As a result, I do question some balance. Granted, there may perhaps be a strategy to it but when the AI also struggles I am left wondering. However this is far from a deal breaker, rather something I personally noticed in single player at the time.

The presentation is an interesting mix of 8-bit graphics yet 16-32-bit music that will not be for everyone but I'll argue it is fitting with the simple but effective gameplay and overall charming style. There is also very well hand drawn art that somewhat clashes with the pixels but it does add character to each fighter. Despite the pixelated visuals, there is variety and distinct colour, with really only a couple of level and character combination blending a tad more than the rest. The music though is pretty stand out and nails the vibe it is going for, a particular point of praise!

Overall, it does effectively combine an retro-presentation with well crafted timing-based fighting gameplay, making it perfect for enoyable bursts and no doubt more fun with friends, potentially with even more depth and length. At a very low price point, I would recommend trying it for yourself and supporting this developer.

Each modes are explained in detail while selecting them. Six Warriors with each of different abilities and fighting style are to be chosen before selecting any mode of the game.

The graphics are good. I didn't mean Ultra graphics and AAA game good, I meant 2D graphics good. They are certainly not ugly. The background scenarios are great too. What more could be expected from a 2D game with pixelated graphics?

This game is free of those nuisance. The game runs perfectly fine and no lags or crashes are caused at any part of the gameplay whatsoever.

One strike is a 2D 8-bit Fighting game and it follows the foundation of a lot of earlier fighting games. Although I like the artstyle they have gone for, I much prefer an artstyle such as Streetfighter 2.
The concept of ‘One Strike’ is that if you are struck once, you’re out.
An update came out today (7th November 2017) which fixed a lot of bugs I had before the update, so good on the developers for sorting some issues out as soon as possible.

[*]Character selection is good, there are six characters to chose from, each character has their own weapon and their own skills which can be used for a different play style when you’re facing the opponent, making the game have a lot of replay value.
[*]4 different difficulties (Easy, Medium, Hard and Very Hard), making the A.I of the other player a lot smarter so therefore you have to adapt to the enemy and their playstyle in order to win.
[*]There are 4 game modes for [i]’Single Player[/i] which are very fun in their own right and can add a lot of content for the players.
[*]Multiple areas in which you can fight in, giving a nice aesthetic environment every time.
[*]The concept of getting struck once and you’re out is fascinating, makes it that more tense and forces you to become better at the game.
[*]Versus mode that allows you to play with a friend and fight one another to come out victorious to bring in that competitive edge.
[*]When selecting the characters, they have their 2D pixel blank face and then they have their artwork on the left hand side which are well drawn for each character and you can tell what kind of character they are just by the image.
[*]Using a gamepad has made the controls feel a lot smoother and a lot more fluid when I am facing my opponents. It worked for my XboxOne controller, not sure on the Xbox360 controller.

[*]Also in the tournament game mode, at the last fight, it had gotten the faces wrong when it was saying who was in the final. So this could be an issue which could be fixed.
[*]The font is extremely hard to read, I could barely read the names of the characters you could select.
[*]Sometimes the music would start over when I chose a specific game mode which was unexpected as I thought it would carry on.

В игре самые быстрые схватки, какие мне приходилось встречать. В этой игре не придется избивать соперника до посинения, тут убиваем одним ударом! Поэтому схватки тут редко длятся больше минуты.
Порадовала детальная анимация убийств. Крови и насилия в игре хватает.
В игре множество режимов от дуэли до турниров. Можно играть одному или соревноваться с друзьями (игра поддерживает локальный мультиплеер).
Бойцов шесть. Они отличаются внешне и ударами. Если где-то не получается пройти очередную схватку, то можно сменить персонажа и сложность игры и попробовать снова.
Отличный файтинг для любителей олдскула. Динамичный, разнообразный и кровавый.

На выбор 6 бойцов, каждый со своими особенными приемами. Управление на шести кнопках: движение влево и вправо + отскок вперед и назад + удар + блок. У некоторых персонажей отскоки могут наносить повреждения врагу, а у других нет, а у некоторых даже блок наносит повреждения! Поэтому приемы у всех особенные, а стиль боя разительно отличается.

Матчи почти мгновенные. Игра недаром называется «Один удар». Тут один точный удар - ты труп! У бойцов нет полосок жизней, они сразу отправляет на тот свет. Тут нет добиваний, зажимов и фаталити! Можно лишь отскакивать и ставить блоки. Есть режим, в котором большее количество жизней, но это не меняет геймплея. Вы умираете от одного удара, и сразу происходит рестарт матча без выхода в меню, как в режимах с одной жизнью.

«One Strike» поддерживает локальный мультиплеер. Не имея под рукой контроллера можно сыграть вдвоем на одной клавиатуре! Это огромный плюс.

При простой, пиксельной графике присутствует качественная анимация персонажей и арен. Выглядит игра хорошо. Персонажи и окружение порадуют любителей азиатской культуры.

One Strike, and you’re out! That’s basically the gist of the game; any and every attack will kill you in one hit. Time to test your 2D reflexes.

[*]I quite like that there are few controls. Each character gets two attacks and dashes (backwards and forwards). While this might sound dull, it actually works well considering that it only takes one hit for you to kill/die. Basically, you need to be creative and very precise with your timing to win (kind of fits well with the samurai theme, don’t you think?).
[*]Diversity comes in the form of 6 playable characters and different game modes (the game modes are very similar though). It’s nice that the characters all have different attacks and styles. It’s also fantastic that a versus mode is included. However, I’m a little concerned about character balance. Since this is a one-shot-kill kind of game, I consider a longer range to be a huge advantage. As the game currently stands, I find that there are very few tools to help short range characters deal with a longer range.
[*]The music takes me back to old fighting games. Perhaps the music in One Strike isn’t as memorable, but it’s quite good.

[*]I find that 5 lives is a bit much per opponent (in the Arcade mode). It would be nice if there was an option to choose how many lives you want (perhaps 2-5 lives? fewer lives = higher risk to gameover).
[*]The victory screen is quite plain. It’s basically a summary of the game modes you’ve won (I think this should be accessible from the main menu). I’d like to see some kind of congratulations/winner screen, like most retro games have.
[*]I encountered a few bugs:

[*]Sometimes when I click on “Revenge”, nothing happens.

I could easily spend a few hours playing One Strike with a friend. It’s a simple to learn, difficult to master kind of game, so anyone can pick it up. Versus mode is definitely the highlight of One Strike (I’m less interested in playing the single player mode).
This game is new, so I suspect that the developers are still weeding out the bugs and optimizing it. Most of the negative points that I’ve listed down can easily be fixed, so they don’t carry much weight... [b]YET[/b]. This game is not for everyone, but I’m certain that many will enjoy it very much.

One strike is similar to that of Samurai Showdown. You are given 6 characters. Each with their own weapon and fighting style.

I tried both the team mode, the arcade and the one life modes just to see what they did.

The game is fairly simple. You have two variety of attacks and depending on who you use, those attacks vary between offense and a few that are defense.

So let me put out the scores.

For visual graphics I give the game a 6.0 because it does have backgrounds though the faces in both the models on the fighting portion, and in the background are fairly pixelated with zero facial features for the most part, save for a beard. The clothing designs are semi-stylish but again there is a fair bit of pixelizing.

For the music, the simplistic scores are pleasing to the ears and they represent the game well. I give the music a 9 out of 10.

The fighters: The fighters at least on the full menu show actual visualization of their faces. But that is not what you see once you start the matches. you see blank faces. The fighting moves and styles are somewhat interesting and so i give the fighters a score of 7 out of 10.

The game mechanics in terms of keyboard controls are a little..... strange. For example, my mouse did not work in the game's menu or fighting area at all. I had to use my keyboard. And I did. i was using the arrow keys for left/right, but i was using G and H for the attacks. Which was a little weird but I got used to it relatively fast. The game controls get a fair 7.0 from me because even if they are a little odd, you can still casually play the game.

The overall fun factor stands at a solid 7.0. I had some fun the first time around but after a short while I found my attention for enjoying this game waneing a little. I would have liked more characters, maybe a few facial details besides the beard and clothing to identify better with the characters.

I would recommend this game to a friend, and I will say this. The game is so casual in and of itself, that pretty much everybody from little kids to adults can play it with relative ease.

TL;DR: If you like the simple fun of a game like Dive Kick and wouldn't mind more of that same pure simplistic fun, this game is exactly what your looking for. This game does a great job of making you want to get into deeper fighting games and you'll come to appreciate it as the gateway drug/game to more complex fighting games, just as Dive Kick is considered.

Pros:
-Simple Controls
-Local multiplayer is always a plus
-Different characters have enough difference to them, to make you find a one tailored for your gameplay style
-CPU is an actual challenge to fight
-Teaches basic fighting game tactics

Cons:
-No configurable keybindings

One Strike, joins Dive Kick perfectly on the list of games that builds the bridge for causal gamers seeking to go from games like those to heavier fighting games like Street Fighter, King of Fighters, or even Mortal Kombat. These games need to be praised more but honestly maybe these games are the unsung heroes of the genre because with these game are literally the gateway drug/game into fighting games for casual gamers. Fighting games these days are filled with systems and set-ups that many people including myself don't care to invest in, honestly its just to complected or intimidating. One Strike and Dive Kick goes back to the roots of what makes these games fun, by simplifying that tense moment in a match where both players are on edge and one hit can end it all.

Story/Gameplay: No story, but i can tell this is just a simple old school idea of an Japanese warriors tournament. There are different modes for solo and local VS, and even an local tournament mode. One mode (Arcade) specifically gives each fighter 5 hit-points (its still 1 Hit-point kill per round) after losing all 5 you will lose the match.

-The combat is simple and fast paced just the same as dive kick. You can move left or right (No jumping in this game), and two buttons for attack or block, and two for dodge forward or back. Now the special thing here is that each button triggers a distinct style of move for each character, for example for one character a dodging backwards might be a simple backstep but for another its a swift retreating attacking. With this the game becomes more than just a simple wait to attack game because your while you are worried about taking the first strike, your also worried about whiffing (Missing an attack) and whether its on purpose or not. If you play on harder difficulty you'll see the CPU whiffing on purpose alot to trick you into attacking and they will punish you for it.

Controls- The controls are simple but i do wish you could configure the keyboard bindings. I also tried to connect my controller to this game (In the options it states there is controller configurations) but i just couldn't get it working at all.

Visuals: The pixel art is well done but I'm not going to lie, I would love to see a great game like this have a more detailed art style. The fighting Arenas are artistically well done, my favorite is the cliffs above the sea-level.

Sound: The music is unbelievably good, like crazy catchy. The chippy tunes reminds me of music from games like Street Fighter 2. They really pull you into the fights and gets you hype.

Conclusion: I gotta admit I love this game, because an non-fgc gamer such as myself can be taught fighting game tactics like whiffing, countering, and canceling without realizing it, that's what games like One Strike and Dive Kick does; it teaches you fighting game basics. After a while you'll what to play a game with even more complex fighting game tactics to learn more.

We find a 2D game with a retro and 8 bits style with the mechanics that the first to hurt the opponent is the winner. In the story we get into various characters of medieval Japan with the intention of become the best warrior.

-Each character differs from the others by their weapons and fighting styles.
-There are a lot of scenarios where battles take place.
-Some scenarios have effects that make you put more in it, like the winter scene where snowflakes fall from the sky.
- Collection system of your victories called '' Accolade '', is a tree where your victories are shown in all modes, difficulties and characters.
-A simple control and easy to understand.
-A HUD, artwork and beautiful setting with many details that give it that oriental touch.
-An extensive amount of game modes: 2 main game modes, single player and versus. The singleplayer mode is divided into 4 (The only life, Aracade, Team duel and Tournament) and the versus mode is divided into 3 (Arcade, Team duel and Tournament).
-The system of choice of characters team duel mode is very well achieved, so they will make you remember old fighting games.
-The One Touch One Death system manages to make fast and simple games.

[b]Neutral: [/b]-A simple background story but that gives you enough to have a role.

[b]Cons:[/b] -The characters have only one suit and this does not change unless you are against it.
-Many difference between the difficulties, the '' Easy '' is very easy, the '' Normal '' is difficult and the '' Hard '' is impossible. (This obviously is going to be noticed less with practice).
-It has some bugs, like the tournament mode, in this same when you reach the final in the box of who fights against whom, your character appears against your character (p1 vs p1) instead of your character against the machine (p1 vs com).

One Strike is a 2D fighting game with retro pixellated graphics. You incarnate one of the 6 available fighters and make your way through Japan in medieval time. Defeat your ennemies to become the best warrior! Different game modes are available : a singleplayer mode (AI) and a local multiplayer mode to play with friends. The game also features a great bunch of achievements which grow up the lifetime a bit more! Playing with a controller is very recommended.

[h1]Graphics/Soundtrack[/h1]
One Strike has 8-bit retro graphics, which means it is "very pixellated". They are not very detailled, however, the game looks very nice. The colors are well chosen and create a real harmony. The soundtrack is great! It's between asian music and arcade games music. Very catchy to me.

[h1]Positive points : Why is it fun?[/h1]
Trying to become the master is very satisfying and it gets addictive very fast! Also, having the choice between 6 heroes with different abilities is a cool feature. Playing with friends is even more fun. Games are short, one hit only is needed to kill your opponent.

[h1]Negative points[/h1]
The menus aren't very intuitive... Also, I couldn't read the texts very well in the menus, because of the pixellated theme. Not clear at all. Too many symbols but not enough informations, too bad... Also, the controls aren't well thought, and you'll have to change them in the little console when you launch the game ("input" section). BUT you can play with a controller, and it will be perfect. The game is actually meant to be played with a controller.

[h1]Lifetime/Worth it?[/h1]
The lifetime of this game is decent, even though I guess you can get bored pretty fast. Anyways, you could always get back on it after a few weeks and have fun again! Now is it worth it? Totally. 5 bucks for that much fun is absolutely OK! Go ahead.

If you want a cheap 2D fight game, to have fun with your friends, or to feel like a great japanese warrior... You found it! One Strike is very entertaining and addictive. Definitely worth its price! Play with a controller for a great experience.

Quer uma experiência excelente que exigem rápidos reflexos, timing preciso e muita habilidade? Então esse é o jogo certo para vocês!

One strike traz uma quantidade excelente de lutadores para lutarem em um sistema de one hit kill, onde o menor descuido pode custar a sua vida. Após quase uma hora de jogatina pude ver o quão incrível esse jogo é, os personagens são distintos e se adaptam aos mais variados tipos de jogadores, desde os mais ofensivos até os mais defensivos.

A mecânica do jogo é interessante e pode trazer uma diversão incrível por um bom tempo, e é mais divertido ainda jogar esse jogo com um amigo através do modo multiplayer.

Esse jogo realmente vale um 10/10. recomendadíssimo

played the game and Actually enjoyed it took me back to when games were basic and fun a few moves and a little
skill was all it took to beat a game like this
there are 6 characters to choose from and the online mode is available which i recommended
one life mode is a lot of fun rage inducing basically 1 life 1 hit kill or be killed (play on medium difficulty hard is way to hard)
backgrounds are pixelated goodness and the music perfect for the game not annoying at all.
as I say in the pros and cons bit plays with PS4 controller not all games do so thats great to see :)
I recommend this game and I hope theres more to come mode wise and character wise

PROS
Not a bad looking game backgrounds are polygon and look really colourful in a good way blocky 2D style art
tough game easy to very hard
I played first with keyboard the switched tio PS4 controller it worked great
the game itself is easy to get into
I think adding more characters and moves will improve it the characters are pretty decent so far
and add balance
looks like bushido blade and yie ar kung fu really gives the game an old school vibe

Cons
too few characters
characters need more moves IMO
needs online multiplayer (it will hopefully be included asap)
A.I is kickass and will punish you if your not aggressive enough so dont be chicken :)

Oh SWEET RNGesus. I thought Shigatari was bad..

5 minutes with this game was ALL I needed to make up my mind. After getting sh!t-canned 3 times in a row by my own doppleganger I was like: "OH BIDGE ITS OHHHHN!" I was not about to get Cupheaded by pixel art!

This game offers you bite sized chunks of Nintendo HARD.

Then when you do manage to beat ONE of the difficulties with ONE of the characters it shows you all the versions you have yet to clear. A video game version of frat hazing and I love it. Thank you sir! May I have another?

This game would be excellent as a party game. If some enterprising body configured a way to control it with a pair of airmouse controls this would give 1-2 Switch a run for its money.
