About a year ago, I was invited to play a card game called "Magic the Gathering". I informed the people who brought me over that I'd never played a tabletop card game before. They reassured me they'd show me the ropes and it'd be fairly easy to grasp for newcomers. After they handed me something called a "Commander Deck", they then proceeded to inform me of a new mechanic of the game on every turn I took and hastily requested I just play a card. I protested, saying I needed to read what the cards said first so I knew how they worked. They told me it was fine, just play a card. "No, not that one, you don't have enough mana. Not that one either, that's a token." and other such comments were thrown my way as I scrambled to do something while still trying to remember the earlier mechanic I was told about 3 turns ago, nevermind what was being thrown at me on the current turn. I got about an hour in before deciding this was a miserable experience and promptly abandoned the game session.

You might be wondering what this has to do with One Step From Eden. Regrettably, I'm here to tell you I had a near identical experience as I did with my first time playing Magic the Gathering.

Similarly, I only sunk about an hour into One Step From Eden, but I think that's plenty for me to write about my experience with it as I am reluctant to play more. I appreciate the desire to continue on the style of combat the Mega Man Battle Network series offers, believe me, I do. I myself am a massive fan. This is not nearly as straightforward and intuitive, however, and exclusively gets more complicated at a breakneck pace.

I did two runs due to this game's randomized nature of providing the player tools to work with and different enemies and bosses to fight. The first of which gave me a spell that offered me a shield with its strength based on the number of spells in my deck. I tested it out in the practice area and it failed to work, saying "Must be in battle". Not really helpful for giving me an idea of how effective it was. Then I got a spell that gave me something called "Flow" and despite the extra menu that popped up to describe it, I have to say, it did nothing to teach me what it is or how it worked. Typing in "One Step From Eden what" into my phone's search bar immediately caused it to add "is Flow?" on the rest of the search, which tells me I'm not alone in my confusion. This is about the point where I started to get worried about how things would go for my experience with this game.

The next spell I got had a tool tip stating I'd need to be a level 14 magician to use it. I was only level 2 at the time and didn't even realize classes were present at all in OSFE. Despite the tool tip, I could still use the spell just fine, which did not help my already growing confusion with the game's mechanics. I did a few more fights, progressed to the second area, died, then started a new run, fared about the same, and got a level up that's apparently separate to the levels I gain on my runs. This gave me a spell called "explosion" which stated I should've done a better job distributing my stats. Theoretically, this would help me use it more effectively or would've given me a different, better reward? It did nothing to tell me which stats I should focus on, which would already prove difficult due to the random nature of the game.

Just under an hour in and I was already exhausted, just as I was with Magic the Gathering. I love Mega Man Battle Network. So much so I even got all of the achievements in both Legacy Collections back at launch. I looked forward to giving One Step From Eden a shot after seeing the similarities in the gameplay, but this isn't remotely what I came to love about the series. Heck, even with BN's most obscure mechanics, questionable translations from time to time, or unfortunate issues with localization (One of many birds, anyone?), I still never felt as at a loss on what was happening as quickly as I did with One Step From Eden.

OSFE relentlessly throws everything and the kitchen sink at you constantly and expects you to grasp what's happening immediately. I was told it was made for people who have experience with the Battle Network series, but even I'm unable to keep up with everything this kept throwing at me. I cannot in good faith recommend this to anyone and that sucks to say because I can tell the devs are experienced BN players, yet I think they spent too much time practicing and mastering their own, brand new mechanics, before releasing the game as it's just too much too fast. There needed to be a slower approach to the pacing of this game's introduction to mechanics and some proper down time, not just a practice room, between fights. Don't even consider trying One Step From Eden if you haven't played Battle Network before, you'll be even worse off than I was.

I don't think this game is bad, and I would probably give it like a 6/10, but this is Steam where reviews must be binary, and this game has more negatives than positives.

+ Unique premise
+ Good art style, nice sprite work
+ Good soundtrack

- Incomprehensible. Everything happens lightning quick and there are too many things to pay attention to.
- Insane and unforgivable asymmetry between what enemies can do and what you can do. Enemies can waltz over to your side of the grid and cast enormous, powerful AoE spells, they can lock you to a single square in multiple ways, they have no cooldowns and limited telegraphing. If the player got a little bit of this sauce, I wouldn't mind, but you're weak af.
- Stupid RNG, ZERO cheese. Too many niche spells, too many half baked synergies, and most of them are useless because even if something seems good, you have to be able to *hit* the enemy with it, which is nigh impossible because...
- no preview indicator for attacks! WHY? Seriously, being able to hold down a spell and view its trajectory before releasing it would be a wonderful QoL feature, and it would really aid in learning how every spell works.
- Bonkers burden of knowledge and BS system bloat. Hard to learn, hard to master, unrewarding and unsatisfying.

Truly one of my favorite roguelites, takes the incredibly unique megaman battle network combat system and just focuses on making it both amazingly polished and replayable
Combined with some great character design, fun lore and nice music, an easy recommendation for any roguefiend

A good and fairly well balanced Deck-builder/Rouge-lite that can and will kick your ass if you let it. It's difficulty generally follows a curve but, there are definite bumps and jumps. I absolutely suck at it and the mod menu scares me but, I think the game as a whole is good solid fun all around. Definitely recommend

In a never-ending sea of rougelites to play, I still find myself firing this up now and then. I can imagine the game being too fast paced for people with how frantic the gameplay is but growing up with the Megaman Battle Network series there's not many games like it. Cute designs, enough card variety to keep things interesting, and a run full length that is perfect for a session or two (~60min). The card evolves can use a little work, they feel somewhat generic, but balance in a single player game is secondary to fun.

재밌는 덱도 많고 지금 다시 하라고 하면 다시 할 정도로 재밌게 했고, 정가 주고 사도 괜찮을 정도라고 생각한다.
덱 빌딩 요소가 있고, 캐릭터마다 컨셉 덱을 할 수 있다는 점은 장점이지만, 창작마당이 있어서 다양한 캐릭터, 다양한 덱을 써볼 수 있다는 것도 장점.
다만 고난이도로 갈수록 하는 덱은 정해져있다. 높은 난이도에 따라오는 피로감도 단점이라면 단점.

도트 그래픽이 예쁘고, 탄막게임에 익숙하고, 난이도 있는 덱빌딩 겡림을 하고싶다면 추천한다.

I say this with love, this feels like a rhythm game without strict timing, and i love it. The music is also fan freaking tastic, and i've gotten tracks stuck in my head so often.

I do find it hard to get a run going where I feel very powerful, and that's kind of a shame because i've experienced the power ceiling of the game's systems before. It's given me huge dopamine rushes, but I guess i just wish they were more accessible on anything more than the game's sudden whim.

The closest thing to Megaman Battle Network out there. Mixed with, whatever subgenre of roguelite people want to argue Slay The Spire is.

The mix of genres actually works pretty well. You build a deck of spellcards over time as you fight battles, visit the shopkeeper literally named Shopkeeper, and fight the other playable characters as bosses. Ideally by the end of the game you should have a fairly optimized deck of cards, otherwise your run is likely going to end in failure. There's almost no story whatsoever, it's just raw gameplay. Same general grid based gameplay as Megaman Battle Network, but your deck is fed to you randomly only to reshuffle once you play every card. Each playable character also has their own unique basic attack and mechanics. My favorite being Terra, who is themed around breaking squares on the opposing side.

There's some interesting stuff going on with the deck building aspect. You can delete useless cards, upgrade cards, try to build around some synergy between cards, etc. For example Hazel tends to function well by placing turrets and other objects down and potentially moving them around with cards themed around displacing things.

The game is pretty hard. It requires good reflexes and being able dodge while simultaneously trying to setup attacks. The deck building requires planning otherwise you'll have to go through a bunch of bad cards before you can get to the ones your strategy is based around.

Good game all around if you want to scratch the itch left by Megaman Battle Network. Although it now has to compete with Megaman Battle Network literally being on Steam which wasn't the case when this game first launched. Still recommend it as it's gameplay isn't a 1 to 1 recreation of Battle Network, but its a harder recommendation given nostalgia fueled gamers can now just buy a collection of the games that probably led them to looking into this.

Absolutely incredible game, one of my all-time favorites! I completed all of the achievements and still return occasionally to try advanced challenges. As a deckbuilder, I've found it to be extremely flexible; there are lots of options that work well, and it's fun to try adding a card that you don't usually use and work it into a strategy. The music introduced me to steel_plus who is now one of my favorite game composers. I would also recommend Duelists of Eden; I don't enjoy PvP as much and so have barely played it, but the combat mechanics are naturally suited to PvP. Would highly recommend!

构筑的爽感策略感运营感中的正反馈都不够强，爽局几乎没有，构筑难卡牌之间的联动少遗物之间联动不起来，每局看词条拿牌就完事了，加上全角色公用牌库公用遗物池，无脑拿就完了。
如果是冲着洛克人，硬核来玩完全没问题，游戏的战斗节奏，bgm，像素画风都非常棒，开了创意工坊，还有本地联机对战本地联机合作，剧情也能起一个点缀的作用
但如果冲着肉鸽卡牌来可能会失望，因为随机性大/构筑难/遗物的数值太弱机制又不强/方差小/战斗操作弥补等因素，每局游戏同质化很严重。地图设计也是没有一样，难关/危险物/小BOSS/普通的战斗，这种战斗几乎没有区别（危险物还会卡构筑，有些体系完全不能走危险物），非战斗路线中没有其他肉鸽的随机事件，而是固定的商店/篝火/宝箱，商店中的遗物医疗包和部分卡牌能回血导致篝火十分鸡肋，宝箱又只给一个遗物收益层面被小boss和商店的收益拉爆。种种因素叠加在一起导致每局的路线选择不是我想要选什么，而是我为了不去篝火或者普通战斗危险物这种关卡只能选一条收益最高的路线。
算上操作反应，背卡背boss在各层的招数等等学习成本快赶上尖塔了，但正反馈爽感完全不如尖塔，正反馈全在优秀的战斗系统设计上了

As someone who previously played through the megaman battle network games, this was a really great spin on the battle mechanics of those games. Battles are completely real time action and less to do with planning out your next set of moves, which makes this game much different and enjoyable.

My one complaint about the game is it just starts the next battle immediately without giving a chance to digest what list of enemies/obstaces you're facing. And some of the enemy designs feel like they fuse together with some of the other things on screen. It could have been better to take 2-3 seconds and spawn each enemy on the field one at a time and then start the battle normally. I say this cause there were many time during the higher difficulty stages where some of the enemy designs seem to blend together with everything else.

Overall, this is an incredible game with tons of replayability, and the modding scene for this game simply opens it up for so much more fun. The music and art is good, the spell selection is nicely varied, controls are simple and responsive. Lot of great references in game that gave me a good chuckle.

9/10 Game. Just awesome.

Antes de começar a review eu gostaria de dizer o quanto a trilha sonoro é magnifica. Eu joguei isso no beta antes de ser lançado e quando foi lançado e parei por um tempo, ao retornar eu conseguia lembrar da musica inicial do jogo perfeitamente e sentir algo
Agora sobre o jogo, seu estilo e gameplay são ótimos, onde a cada vez que você tenta você consegue desbloquear algo novo e poder explorar outros tipos de builds, porém isso diminui com o passar do tempo e começa a ficar repetitivo.
Sobre os personagens eu diria que são interessantes mas a falta significativa de história neste jogo não me deixa me aprofundar ou sequer gostar deles. Sendo esse um dos seus maiores problemas, você não sabe muito do que se trata o jogo, seja do seu mundo, seus objetivos e até mesmo quem você é.

It's been 2 years since I first bought the game and I finally beat my first run. I absolutely love the battle mechanics, the boss fights, spells, and spell combos. I'd say the only thing that felt overlooked was most of the character's abilities and how most of them felt underpowered. Once I unlocked Violette, I only used her because her abilities and starting spells were genius by design. Otherwise, very good rogue-like.
Will continue playing to collect more character abilities to see if I can prove myself wrong.

One step from Eden terminé en a peu près 4 heures.
Je précise q'une seule run réussie est seulement nécessaire pour avoir accès aux crédits de fin du jeu.

Mine de rien , ce fut ardu, étant donné que ce jeu possède un gameplay atypique.

Bien entendu, le jeu est nettement plus long pour atteindre le 100%.
Chose que je ferai avec grand plaisir !

Concernant ce roguelike, j'ai été surpris concernant son gameplay, un gros mélange de deckbuilder, tactical et le tout en temps réel. Ce qui peut en dérouter plus d'un.

J'ai quand même insisté pour comprendre le jeu, et après plusieurs échecs pour comprendre les patterns des ennemies (surtout des boss) et rechercher les synergies pour mes decks, ce fut que du bonheur.
Le tout accompagné d'une OST percutante totalement dans mes gouts.

Si vous n'avez pas froid aux yeux sur les roguelikes exigeants, je vous le recommande.

One Step From Eden (OSEF) is a pretty interesting game. It's very clearly based on the megaman battle network series, yet it's so different from it's inspiration that saying that almost feels like underselling it.

So, what is it? It's a rougelike about characters attempting to get to a place called "Eden", hence the name. There's vague lore you can put together from character dialogue and descriptions, but outside of that the story isn't really the main focus. Plus, there's 3 wildly different endings so the game's tone can be... strange.

The gameplay follows a pretty simple loop; you move through areas, getting into battles while drafting new spells for your "deck". This is a deckbuilder, though calling it that feels weird at times since it's anything but a slow-paced strategy game. But there is deckbuilding elements, so I can't argue with that. Pathing is pretty simple (there's only 3 paths you can take, and it's generally just deciding between different types of battles, and then occasionally between resting, a shop, or a chest.)

What makes this game work is ultimately the battle system. It's megaman battle network on every single drug known to man. Combat is fast. Really fast. Spells do a lot of damage and fast, but need to be aimed well (most of the time) to do anything. Enemies have simple attack patterns, but they again attack fast and many of them can tear down your health at incredibly fast speeds on higher difficulties.

The spells you use to fight are designed such that they work best together. Each one has a "Brand" with a cute name (Slashfik, Anima, Hexawan, etc) that puts it in a general category. Most spells tend to synergize with other members of their brands at first. Because yeah, having more poison cards from the poison category tends to work well.

But what you start to realize is that many of the spells more generic effects also synergize well with other brands. Turns out, Rooting enemies in place works really well with spells that set the ground on fire, even if the aren't in the same category. The game's passive artifacts further encourage this, as most of them add synergies between categories. Now your fire suddenly applies poison to targets, and your poison can now apply frost stacks, which themselves can now slow and root a target.

It's a very interesting contrast; the deck-building is very slow and methodical. It's more like labbing out possible combos in a fighting game. You're even given free reign to throw around your spells between fights to see what the ideal method of working through your deck is. Notably, you can only really have 1 copy of a given spell in a deck at a time, and there's no real way to guarantee you draw any given card first.

Which means when you get into a fast-paced fight, you have to suddenly translate that abstract strategy into something workable on the fly. Sure, some decks can get away with spamming their spells, but a lot of decks will need to be thinking several enemy moves ahead, by striking where they're *going* to be in a second rather than where they are currently.

It's just a very unique style of game, and when you get the flow of combat down, you feel like an honest to god anime protagonist, throwing out spells and techniques that utterly devastate your opponents in seconds. That is not a feeling that a lot of games can give you outside of maybe like, fighting games.

With that said, the game isn't perfect. A lot of it's more obscure mechanics are just not really spelled out to the player, and feel like things that were added in during an EA period which were never properly explained to someone who didn't play it then. Removals can actually be used not just on cards, but also artifacts and even the debuffing "Pacts" you can take at shops for extra rewards. There's three endings based on how many bosses you choose to murder, and it really isn't clear that you can just... leave after a boss is defeated to spare them.

Most egregiously, you can actually manually select up to two brands (or the same brand twice) to show up more often in rewards to fish for certain cards. This is incredibly helpful, and I had no idea the mechanic existed until after I had beat the game on it's highest difficulty, Hell Mode 14.

Speaking of those Hell Modes, the game has an ascension system with 14 "Hell Passes", modifiers you can enable which make the game progressively harder. These are... hit and miss for me, personally. Stuff like removing the 4 tile aim indictor (many spells hit exactly 4 tiles away) feels less like making the game actually harder and more like making it more incomprehensible. Hell Mode 14 outright starts you at 1 Max HP, turning the game into a "don't get hit at all" simulator which is interesting, but is just such a leap in difficulty and feels counter to the design of so many enemies that it feels like an afterthought.

There's also just the issue that the game is really, really, REALLY fast. I have less trouble keeping up with late-game Ultrakill gameplay than I do the higher hell modes of OSFE. It gets to the point by the end of runs that it feels easier to just have a deck which kills things so fast that they never get a chance to do their interesting attack patterns, rather than actually dealing with and learning those attack patterns. Especially with how crazy the bosses scale by the end of the game if you have them start out at their "max" potential.

But hey, that's just how the game is played. I can always drop the difficulty down if I want to. And I do; Hell Mode 14 was a fun one-time challenge, but it's not for me. That's alright. At the end of the day, this is a wonderful game which feels very good to play and looks amazing (the pixel art is incredibly smooth and really adds to the sense of power and slickness of each character). Give it a shot, just be prepared for something very fast paced and you'll have a great time.

已经很久没玩这个游戏了，之前打到了最后一个难度，尝试了一会还是释怀了，一血出门对我来说还是太抽象了，这意味这游戏的前大半时间不能被击中，后半段容错也很低，但是高难度下随着关卡的推进和幸运的增加，小怪和boss的攻击欲望会越来越趋近癫狂，这需要及其快的反应速度和对怪物的熟悉。

我最喜欢玩的西索金币左轮还需要时间装弹发射并且计算伤害处决，boss和小怪的闪转腾挪也让我难以命中。

可能你在前面还有一点在跳舞机上下左右的感觉，但后面难度激增，boss弹幕对你场地的疯狂轰炸会让你手忙脚乱的出牌，有些卡牌还是指向技能，这需要你调整你与boss之间的站位。

我只在这里总结一下难点：
1.你需要注意你的走位！躲避敌人的弹幕，并且注意敌人的种类进行应对！
2.你需要看你的两个卡槽是什么卡！并在合适的时机释放！

The game is pretty ok but the speed is insane, mixed with a bad readability of what's happening, it makes the game really painful to play. Need a better learning curve a better hud/animations.
Also, the characters are too specialized in their own area, which makes the deckbuilding completely nonexistent. Frost guy : build only frost, etc.

エグゼ作品などこの手のゲームは未経験ですが楽しめました。
敵の攻撃を避ける、もしくはバリアで堪えるが基本なので最初はとにかく死にます。

慣れてきたり、タワーデッキ（ひたすらカード回してバリア盛るデッキ）辺りを使い始めると
ゴリ押しで突破できるようになり、回数を重ねると敵の攻撃パターンも概ね理解できるようになってきます。

ただローグライクと言われると少し怪しいかな？とは感じました。
というのも予め組みたいデッキがある場合それに合ったスペルしか取得しないので、
「状況に合わせて色々なスペルでコンボを組む」というプレイスタイルはしないかも。

気持ちのいい爽快感あるBGMとかなり早いゲームテンポなので個人的にはオススメしたいです。

I normally don't write reviews at all. Hell not even for some other games which I firmly say are better than OSFE, but this game for some odd reason has me incredibly charmed. Don't let its cute design and appearance fool you into thinking this is a megaman battle network clone. The amount of sweat you can experience in this game is to the point where you'd probably be able to sink about 100+ hours into this "simple looking game" and still not even be halfway done with exploring everything there is to explore. Wrote this at 15 hours but Im really liking it so far. Can reccomend/. Solid 10/10 for what it is imo

A really fun mix between deck builder and action shooter.

Protip: Once you know what type of card build you are going for, open your deck and set your type preference. I played for a long time without knowing you can tell the game what types of cards to give priority so its not completely random.

It will take a long time to get used to the speed of the game and memorize what attacks each enemy and boss does to get proficient at dodging, which is a skill to prioritize in this game. Overall is very fun once you get the hang of it but at the start it will be quick and merciless.

The normal default mode is great to experiment and learn each character. The hardest parts of this game is getting the true genocide ending and the difficulty modifiers all the way to Hel Mode 14.
I got lucky with the shopkeeper and completed it but man its hard as nuts, not sure how it can be done with other characters.

I absolutely love this game. I own it for the PS4, Switch, and now Steam. I've been running it via Gamehub Lite, unmodded, on my Odin 2 Portal, and the experience has probably been the best version for me so far. The replay value of this game is incredible. Each of the handicaps transform the difficulty of this game immensely, and the fluidity and control you have over routing are extremely well managed. The difficulty curve can be tricky, especially for someone like me who never played any of the inspirations this game takes from, but that's part of the joy in it for me. The spells and upgrade system are the meat and potatoes of the gameplay loop, and while you don't have any direct control over your pool at the end of each stage, you do have some influence, which considering the 20+ character and initial load out combinations, can be immensely helpful, but the game can also reward you for leaning into chaos by increasing your luck stat for forgoing those controls. I'm sure some people are probably a bit worn out on procedurally generated games, but to me, it is a crime that this game isn't considered a classic at this point. There's a massive variety of playstyles built into the game, a frankly absurd number of viable build strategies, and after literal years, somehow, I'm still not bored of the game. There are very few games I would consider to be better money spent than this game.

The gameplay is great. While the core mechanics are quite simple, a lot happens at once regarding your upgrades and abilities that it can be confusing since there's no real tutorial (I suggest looking up a beginner's guide). But once you get the flow it's addicting and second nature.

Mega Man Battle Network as an Action Roguelike seems like such a perfect combination and it's weird how this is this the only game to try it. Luckily, the devs clearly got the assignment and made sure the core gameplay loop takes the direction and makes it consistently fun and varied.

Each run is very different, not only due to the character you choose but what abilities you get. You may go into a run with a plan but then take your build in another direction due to what synergies you can put together, combined with your character's latent abilities.

And imo that's what makes a great action roguelike imo. Where the core gameplay is fun and simple, and the complexity is from what you build as your run progresses.

My only issue really is, and it's not a problem with what's there but what isn't, is I wish there was a legit story mode. The game hints at a story through the very occasional piece of dialogue and other implied ways, but it's still essentially just an arcade style experience.

I think that would help bring more players into this outside just the fun of the gameplay loop. It feels more arcady because of it and I think it had potential to do more in the story.

I know there are plenty of classic action Roguelikes that don't have a true story mode, like The Binding of Isaac and Dead Cells, but those do the Fromsoft thing and bake the story into gameplay loop. Eden doesn't really do that much, you mostly get a line or two from a boss.

There's more than enough going on to build a bigger story around, so it's strange that wasn't created. That would also solve the lack of a true tutorial issue as that can be baked into a story mode.

Otherwise, it's highly recommended if you think you'd like it.

Very unique kind of game, and I find playing it was challenging but pretty fun. I don't think I'll have the time to sink in enough hours to consistently win runs, or even win my first run (the difficulty floor seems very steep to me), but I'll always enjoy myself win or lose because I love deckbuilders and OSFE allows for you to think for ages about optimal play. That's the case when it comes to mechanical skill in playing fights moment to moment or with established card game theory (pathing, draw, energy, building an engine, managing currency, etc).

9.8/10 (Not that the game was mind blowing, I just had a lot of fun.)

Liked:
- Art style and music
- The "learn as you go" mentality. No obnoxious tutorials, plenty of opportunities to experiment and figure things out for yourself.
- The overall gameplay. It's challenging, rewarding, and fun. There's a surprising amount of playstyle variety, the deckbuilding is solid, opportunities to tweak rng, interesting characters (playstyle wise, not a whole lot of actual "character" going on), controls are smooth, nothing ever felt cheap, it's just good.

Disliked:
- Really struggling to think of anything I disliked honestly. Hence the score I guess. My only gripe is that many strats rely heavily on artifacts, so if you want to do a specific type of run, you really have to cross your fingers. What you should do, and I'm sure what the game expects you to do, is see what kind of artifacts you get before deciding on a strat. So really it's only a minor gripe.

The game shows some cutscenes near the end and some dialogue after you beat the bosses. It seems that there is some lore behind the dialogues, but since there isn't anything more you can learn from, it's hard to make sense of it.

You play in an 8x4 grid, where each half is separated between you and the enemies. In addition to a normal attack that is unique to each character, you have several cards in your deck that you can use to aid you in defeating the enemies. If you die, you must restart the run from scratch, although there will be some experience points that can be used to unlock more cards for your future runs.

Navigating the world can be done by choosing a node. Although most of them still lead to battle, some nodes, like campfire and shop, will help you to prepare for the fights ahead. There are usually three paths in each world that you can choose from, and you need to plan carefully from the start since some nodes will be unreachable if you choose the wrong one.

The game has 9 playable characters, with each character having at least 1 alternate set with a different loadout. These characters will start with some specific cards, giving you an easier time finishing your build. There are several builds with different playstyles in this game, and you can choose whichever you are more comfortable with.

Obtaining cards is simple. There are a lot of cards with different types, and you'll be able to choose one out of three after each battle. In addition to cards, there are also artifacts—your passives. Combining them to create a certain build will be vital in finishing your run.

Some builds rely on a specific card to function. You need to get lucky with the RNG to get that card to function. There is a way to increase the probability of getting a certain type of card, but the most important cards for the build are usually of a higher rarity, which can make it harder to get.

Fights can be easy or hard depending on your build. Different builds play differently; some rely on high burst, some rely on your persistence, while others rely on your ability to spam cards. However, the game seems to favor more of the first type since it is faster to clear the game with that build. However, it can be hard to find the card you need to get going.

Dodging is vital to finishing the game. While it might be inefficient in certain builds, you still need to learn the enemies' attack patterns to beat the game. Normal enemies can still kill you with their numbers, while bosses have attack patterns that might look as if they're covering the whole screen if you didn't pay attention.

Boss fights get harder as you play. Most bosses are randomized, but they usually have tiers that will increase after you finish more worlds. The higher-tier bosses can deal devastating attacks that can chip your HP quickly if you don't dodge. However, it can be hard to learn how to dodge these attacks—some of them can cover the whole screen, making it hard to deduce where you need to go to avoid them. Moreover, you need to spend some time to reach these bosses, and there is no other way to practice with them apart from playing the game from scratch again, hoping that you'll only encounter that boss near the end of the run.

[b]Length and Difficulty[/b]
I finished my first run in 1.9h. Note that it took me 15h+ to finish my second run with another character. The game can be hard for some people, especially since the projectiles feel like a bullet hell sometimes. Luckily, the game offers Angel Mode, where you can reduce enemies' speed and damage. Moreover, you can also remove the perma-death aspect by pressing Alt + F4 before the game-over screen appears.

If you need more challenge, the game also has Hell Passes, a modifier that will make the game harder. There are 14 of them, and you can activate more than one of them at the same time.

The game can get stale as you play. The gameplay is addicting, but you'll find yourself doing the same thing over and over just to finish it, especially if you only want to learn an attack pattern of a certain boss. You can also play with different builds, but the game is broken in certain builds, and it's hard to go back to the normal build once you try those out, especially since it's easy to set them.

[i]One Step From Eden[/i] has an addictive gameplay that relies on RNG. I didn't like how your run can get ruined if you didn't get a specific card that is vital for your deck, although it can still be salvageable depending on your skill. Bosses are challenging to beat, which is perfect if you prefer it that way. If you want to cheese the game, it also has the means, although you need to collect the cards and artifacts for it first. If you enjoy fast-paced combat that tests your reflexes, you'll definitely enjoy it. However, I'd rather recommend buying the game on sale since the game can be very short if you don't want to explore it to its fullest, which can be cumbersome to do.

My favorite entry of the Megaman Battle Network series, the fourth installment[s] Red Sun/Blue Moon, are the least popular because of how many times the game must be replayed to unlock all the content. The multiple new game plus playthroughs you have to do was my favorite part of Red Sun/Blue moon because rather than being locked into the endgame scenario, I got to use all the new chips and abilities against harder enemies is something that kept those games eternally fresh for me.

When I learned about OSFE, something immediately clicked for me and was hooked as soon as I played it. The rougelike aspect of the game really resonated with why I like MMBN4 so much. It scratches an itch so specific, I do a run of this game almost everyday. I have over 500 hours in this game and it was only this year that I started delving into the Hell Passes and other routes which gave me that feeling of playing the game for the first time again.

This game truly is a masterful work of art, and I was very glad to get a physical copy of the game, 1000 blessings unto the GOAT ThomasMoonKang.

This is not a replacement for Megaman Battle Network no matter how similar it looks. I tried really, really hard to like this game. On paper a lot of the mechanics are similar. But it's just not fun. It's stressful and annoying to play. Part of what made Battle Network fun was the ability to perfect your "deck" to suit the playstyle you wanted in the game. This game just has layered RNG, and extremely annoying boss patterns that feel unfair. The pace of the game honestly makes me feel the carpal tunnel developing in my wrists as I play it. Not recommended no matter how badly I wanted a sequel to Battle Network. Just go play the collection.

This game is about as good of a love letter to the Megaman Battle Network series as i could ever expect.

It draws so much inspiration while still keeping an identity of it's own by adding a rogue-like deckbuilder spin on it. All in an extremely well-executed combination of aesthetics, gameplay loop, smooth controls, and an amazing list of soundtracks.

A must-play for anyone that has ever enjoyed digging through Battle Network post-game seeking out those fabled SP bosses. Thank you so much Thomas Kang.

難易度は高めだと思いますが、ゲーム速度を下げれるのとビルド次第でゴリ押せるので、ある程度アクションゲームやり慣れている人なら大丈夫だと思います。自分が気持ちよくプレイできる速度に設定したらいいかと。自分も初めは速度を落としました。
このゲームの対人バージョンが出ましたが、最初に言った感想の通り爽快感を味わう為にプレイしているので対人はあんまりしたいと思わないかな…
