Storyline

The game has its moments, but its not a solid take on the automation genre. Everything is "technically" there, but its execution is lackluster.

Much of it can be forgiven for the positives it brings to the table, and it is worth a play through with some caveats.

I beat it on normal. I restarted 3/4 of the way through, kept the normal settings nd my tier to rebuild a more orderly base.

Some tips:
Unless you are hyped on achievements, lowering the quest threshold and making the game easier is recommended. How much really depends on your pain tollerance. It gets grindy for no reason at all, leading to a mix of issues.

You may want to give yourself the option to build ruins. They are a hastle and not always well positioned. Doing so can make the game too easy.

Turning on the ability to raise and lower terrain may be recommended, hubs require a reasonable amount of space and supply ins and outs are easily disrupted by slopes.

Big problems:
Trains are necessary and of limited use. Run a main line out from your base then split off hubs off of it.

Train identifiers work based on the item put in the identifier, not the order. They can take 4 separate turns, You can prioritize groupings and train hubs 1 item at a time. The single item on the signal is what is important. If any match, the train turns.

There arent real rewards to expanding and building a megabase. A well supplied endgame is overkill, but anything less can be a major headache late game as well.

You basically want a few highly efficient hubs for general production, feeding trains. Such as coal, spark production, all so you can relay the goods by train down your main hub.

Its easier to just build a solid production of sparks and ample storage than automate most mob farms. Automate boomy sparks and use coal trains or spark transport to keep teleporters open. Then just farm what you need by teleporting in and tossing some boomys. If you do it right you will have plenty.

I set up some well functioning and efficient mob farms, its possible. Though some mobs are inherantly difficult, they are out of the way (requiring rail transport), or the mob itself has abilities that kill large numbers of sparks if not micromanaged. This problem never goes away.

Tech/research progression really dumps on your hubs later, and its a problem. You will want to shoehorn in new outputs and the terrain is unforgiving. There is no good way to know how you will want to link your supply lines unless you know the tech tree, which is hidden.

Overall it can be fun, its cute and a time sink, its got everything you could want in an automation game. Yet its not well executed, the hours and hours it takes to establish a solid base, just to have tech/progression add in layers you need to shoehorn in later. Can be a real drag, and canibalizing huge resource hubs to rebuild is a real pain. Slight moodifications arent bad, you can move buildings. Yet if you wished your hub faced the other way and had a different layout... let alone if you turn your mid game into spaghetti. This is why I started over... and there is no quick start option, its all a bit of a slog one way or another.

I love that i can play with family in other places. I also love that it's flexible on who can open the shared world, but usually its limited to the last person to play and save as the last save is not universal each save stays with each personal steam account and i like that incase someone messes up.

Super fun. It is like a cosy factoria type of game. It takes a little thinking but it is not too high of stakes. took me less than 80 hours to finish it. The achievements did break while playing and creating and playing new game did not fix it unfortunately. I probably would have finished sooner had the puffy achievement not broken as I started and played a new game till that point. Still worth playing. Hopefully they are able to fix the achievement issues.

I would give this a thumbs up for fun idea, Pikman and Factorio combined in one. Thumbs down would be the nonsensical LGBT rainbow garbage and dlc. I'm not sure why they thought adding all of that sexual orientation flags junk would somehow enhance the game. It's pointless to advertise what you like to f#@$. It's tiresome to see. The DLC is crap also.

They started out strong, but then the devs just gave up it looks like. If you get it on sale and like automation style games, give it a go. It's fun for the most part. I wish I was able to get it for my kids and play with them, but with the fruity flags, it's an automatic pass on that. Not kid friendly.

If you are looking for a cozy yet deeply engaging automation fix, Oddsparks: An Automation Adventure is an absolute delight. It manages to balance the complexity of factory building with a charm that is often missing from the genre.

The Highlights
• Charming Aesthetic: The art style is cute, vibrant, and incredibly enjoyable. It makes spending hours in the world feel like a treat rather than a chore.
• Controller Friendly: This is one of the few automation games that is exceptionally easy to control with a controller. The UI feels natural and intuitive.
• Seamless Co-op: My husband and I have been playing together, and the drop-in/drop-out co-op is flawless. No technical hiccups, just pure teamwork.
• Addictive Progression: The sense of progression is spot on. I frequently lose track of time while playing, which is the ultimate sign of a high-quality gameplay loop.

A Note on the "DLC"
I have seen some negativity regarding the paid DLC at the 1.0 release. Honestly, if these had been labeled as "Supporter Packs," I am sure people would have had no issue. It is a great way to support the developers for a job well done, and the base game provides more than enough value on its own.

Final Verdict
I am incredibly excited to see how the late-game factory and automation tech trees play out. This is a polished, addictive, and adorable adventure that is well worth your time.

Very fun game overall but definitely with some flaws. The automation parts of the game are at times at ends with the with exploration aspects in ways that lead to some extremely frustrating builds and items. Enemies are also mostly a joke to fight and kill not really requiring much strategy or thought for the most part. The game could REALLY benefit from some quality of life features. Overall still very fun and I would recommend it if you like exploring and automation.

I've been looking for a cosy automation game for a while now and I've finally found it.

I knew as soon as I opened this game for the first time that I would really enjoy it and so far it's a breath of fresh air.
I love everything about this game. The art style is really refreshing and I'm enjoying learning all the new mechanics.

This game is unashamedly itself and rightfully so. It's not like any other automation game I've played, nor should it be. The entire aesthetic fits in with itself well and there's no mechanics so far that don't fit the style.

If you're looking for a cosy automation game, this is it :)
I highly recommend this game.
