Horror completamente inefficace, gameplay noioso e lento (in alcuni giochi horror può funzionare, qui è solo pesante) con gran parte del tempo passato a compiere attività tediose, eventi senza alcun senso che formano una narrativa che cerca di essere criptica e spaventosa ma fallisce nel farlo, momenti in cui si litiga con i controlli del gioco... NO ONE LIVES UNDER LIGHTHOUSE okazała się dla mnie dużym rozczarowaniem. Rozgrywka sprowadza się do monotonnego chodzenia z punktu A do punktu B, a zagadki są bardzo proste i przewidywalne, co szybko staje się nużące.

Fabuła nie wnosi nic oryginalnego ani ciekawego. Próby nadania jej głębi poprzez symbolikę kart czy tarota wypadają płasko i znacznie lepiej widziałem to w prostszych grach.

Jako horror psychologiczny gra nie wywołała u mnie żadnych emocji — spędziłem ponad godzinę na bezrefleksyjnym klikanie i chodzeniu, bez choćby cienia napięcia.

Nie wrócę do tej gry i nie polecam jej nikomu. Jedynym plusem jest pikselowa grafika w stylu wczesnych konsol, ale to za mało, by uratować całość.

I normally like these busywork horror simulators, but this one won't even let me progress. On the second day, as you are fixing a machine, a giant monster spider spawns. I know what I'm supposed to do, I'm supposed to go into a house to hide from it. However, this is made impossible by the game happening from the perspective of the spider and switching my protagonist to tank controls. I can only see where he is and how he's turned when the spider is close and for the life of me, I can not figure out how to massage the direction keys to make my guy go in the house. I died around 20 times, attempting over and over again to angle him right so he'd go in there, not even getting close. If something this bad is the very first challenge they confront you with, I don't want to know what comes later. Thankfully it only cost 2 bucks.

У вас две задачи: убирать мусор дома и на маяке и зажигать лампу вечером. Но вдруг начинает происходить какая-то мистическая срань.

Что круто: графика, атмосфера и некоторые твисты, которые случатся уже очень быстро. А ещё можно скипнуть некоторые моменты, которые однажды станут совсем невыносимыми.

Что не круто: порой даже чтобы пройти чисто сюжет не понимаешь, что нужно делать, и мечешься из стороны в сторону. А уж для достижений так вообще нужны совсем неочевидные действия. Для другой концовки тоже. А ещё это какой-то арт-хаус в сюжетной части.

Собственно, фанатам авторского кино про маяки и симуляторов ходьбы рекомендую.

What stood out to me most is its emotional core - the relationship between father and son. The protagonist follows in his father’s footsteps as a lighthouse keeper, carrying on a legacy that feels both meaningful and a bit tragic.

At its heart, it’s about loneliness and what isolation does to your mind while being stuck in this never-ending cycle of life on the island. The story’s open to interpretation too - some might see it as this weird mystical stuff, where the pendulum feels like the center of a growing psychosis
Honestly, I didn’t understand much after the first playthrough, but the game isn’t long - it takes about 3–4 hours to finish. The game’s worth a second playthrough, as the endings change based on your choices. On the second run, a lot of things start to click and make much more sense.

I can see why the Director's cut attracts strong feelings in both directions. Personally, I really like how Marevo Collective create atmosphere and are happy to let you find your own through their low polycount levels. It's an unsettling experience at times, and my playthrough has had precisely one jump scare, so it's very well done at that level. I'd recommend picking this up if you are into atmospheric horror which isn't going to take your hand and guide you through what it all means.

Weird, eerie, psychodelic and horribly atmospheric. It's not a game, it's an experience definetly not for everyone, but it was something what sucked me in and made me feel like I was the one on the island surrounded only by vast ocean in deep loneliness. Give it a try.

Even though I haven’t finished the game yet and haven’t completed it, after playing for just one evening I experienced incredible enjoyment. The game is very atmospheric, the sounds slowly drive you mad, and I even felt like I was in "The Lighthouse" by Robert Eggers (definitely watch it if you liked the game).

The first hour of gameplay (it took me about an hour, though it might be shorter if you rush) feels very similar to the film mentioned above. I really liked this part. After that, the game starts to turn more into Lovecraftian horror and some kind of psychedelic experience.

For now, I don’t have much more to add since I haven’t finished the game yet. I’m curious to see how it all ends and whether I’ll go completely insane by the end of the playthrough :)

Well, I finished the game and I’m planning to replay it because I realized there might be different endings. I’ll also try to complete it with 100% achievements. I really liked the game, even though at times it was a bit difficult to understand what exactly was happening.

The game strongly reminded me of the film The Lighthouse, which I mentioned before. I loved that movie, and although the game has more Lovecraftian elements, almost every lighthouse scene felt like something straight out of the film. I don’t know whether the developer was inspired by it or not, but I really enjoyed the similarity.

I would give the game a 9/10. At times it felt a bit too pixelated (I understand that it’s inspired by the PS1 style, but the visuals could have been a bit clearer). Still, despite that, the game visually conveys the madness happening in the story very well.

I also felt that the sound design could have been stronger. It would have been great to hear more sounds for example, loud foghorn noises like in the film it would have added even more tension to the atmosphere and strengthened the feeling of growing madness.

Overall, the game is definitely worth your attention, and I think anyone who enjoys strange, unsettling, and unconventional stories will like it.

No one lives under the lighthouse is not a bad experience, but the game is too diverse is its flaws to recommend to any particular type of person.

If engaging gameplay is what you're looking for, you will absolutely not find it here. The game is very short, but the monotonous premise of lighthouse tending teased by its setting is somehow made even more monotonous by the obtuse and unexciting gameplay. The aimless walks you go on trying to figure out what to do next are infinitely more exciting than the slow walks you will go on once you figure out what you need to do to progress. When actual horror excitement does occur, you'll end up receiving it with more enthusiasm than dread, as it gives you an incredibly brief break from the otherwise glacial pace. That slow pace is hardly even played with as a mechanic to lull you into a false sense of security or to subvert your expectations of repetition. It just lulls you.

If the setting and aesthetic of maritime horror catches your eye, then you will be disappointed by how little the game makes use of this. The game rarely departs from the titular lighthouse and the island it resides on, hardly changing much between levels to skew your perception of it. The promises of a nautical twist on horror insinuated by the entire premise are hardly ever delivered on. When the game's setting does shift, [spoiler] it is replaced by the most generic cultish and hellish imagery. The mystery is paid off with an unsatisfying and bland look that does no favors to its story.[/spoiler]

Speaking of, if you look to horror games for their narratives, you may find the experience more enjoyable than most. The game uses nonlinear storytelling and some generally abstract dialogue and plot points to tell its admittedly interesting story. If you're someone who likes abstract stories that give room for interpretation and that don't hold your hand, this story will be for you. Even these potential strengths, though, are not without flaws. The game's aesthetic, while initially alluring, quickly becomes a detriment to the story. The imagery that the story relies on gets put through a pixelated lens that undercuts parallels and seems to provide little reward for having a keen and curious eye. If all that fails to dissuade you, the actual plot may even prove to be ultimately too boring for you anyway.

Despite all that, I don't regret playing this game. I enjoyed many aspects of it. I think there is a lot of promise shown in both gameplay and story, though mostly in the story. If you're not intimidated by the potential flaws and are willing to gamble a couple hours, this game may ultimately be an enjoyable experience for you. I would wager, however, that most will not fall into that category.

I honestly found the true ending of this game to be one of my favourite horror game endings of all time. This may be one of my favourite horror games of all time, period. I know that there will be plenty of people who disagree with the idea of the director's cut edition being a good game, but I honestly and wholeheartedly mean it when I say it. I can't say I entirely understood the story, but from what I did understand, it was a surprisingly solemn and genuine story that spoke towards guilt and moving past it. I've heard talk of scrapping this plot in a hypothetical sequel, but to be completely honest, the idea of both a straightforward sequel and scrapping of the current plot breaks my heart. I'd much rather a spiritual successor, and to allow this game as it is now. I think that the director's cut is great, and that anyone who has a problem with it should be able to mind their own business and play the original version as much as they want.

You might enjoy it. You might not. I really couldn't get into it.

I felt it was so monotonous, so tedious. There is absolutlely no direction, you are feeling for hints in the dark with no waypoints, no markers, no sentences of what to do. You have endless possibilities on an island with no direction. If you can't figure out what to do, you get to run back and forth and back and forth, until you finally figure out what to do.

By the time you figure it out, or give in like I did, you will discover a story that has no smooth edges. It is frustrating to attempt to grasp, it is all over the place, and I wish I could find something more,,, meaningful.

I truly feel the only thing that I enjoyed about this frustrating endeavour, was the way that achivements were built in. I loved the Tarot design, the little pocket in the menu was really cute. I also absolutely adored the sound design and the music, but other than that it just felt repetitive. It felt there was no direction, and I wish that I had at least a gentle guiding hand.

TLDR; If you're an alcoholic, youre going to hell.

I don’t usually like horror games, but this was an interesting experience.

The game doesn’t rely on jump scares or chase sequences for its horror, focusing instead on its narrative, with mystery and confusion as its strongest points. In fact, you have very few interactions with the monster itself, but each one is unexpected and creative. The monster’s presence is mostly conveyed through its off-screen interactions with you, creating a strong contrast with the game’s sense of loneliness. The game does a great job of maintaining a heavy and tense atmosphere throughout the entire experience.

Gameplay-wise, the game is very confusing, offering little to no guidance on what you’re supposed to do each day, making it hard to progress without a guide. Although this feeds well into the confusion factor, it heavily hinders the overall gameplay experience.

Given that the story is the main focus of the game, if you enjoy cosmic/Lovecraftian horror, you will probably appreciate it more and have an easier time understanding its themes.

In the end, I did enjoy the game despite its flaws. It was a short but engaging experience.

氛围营造得还可以，演出也还行，引导做得一般，作者好像默认玩家全员清楚灯塔守卫这一职业的工作内容流程和具体道具的用途，但其实很多时候东西拿在手里一头雾水（而且有些道具卡视野很难找到，互动点也得卡视角才显示高亮），剧情也一般（台词咬文嚼字谜语人有点尬），怪物的设定也就那么回事，比较流俗的那种，没什么新意，不如不要揭露实体，前面每天出点黑泥或者异常的时候还有点未知的恐惧，玩到后面稍显无聊，有追逐战，个人讨厌追逐战（又无趣又拖进度，操作也不舒服）。整体中等吧，没有很惊艳也没有失望透顶。

Great game! I got it for the price of a pack of gum, so worth the investment for me. It really reminds me of the lighthouse movie ironically called, "The Lighthouse", just with a monster and a cultish influence. (Which is good if your into this type of H.P. Lovecraft feel} I recommend doing a straight playthrough first to see how you do, then going back after for additional playthroughs to get all the achievements and endings.

整个游戏的叙事手法真的很牛逼，非常的电影化，流程里的“干活”更多是推进剧情而去做的，你看看现在这些年那些什么奶茶店、花店、汉堡店恐怖，基本没有一个是做得到在玩家"工作"的时候能够让玩家感到不无聊的，不是说不好，而是那种模式的前期会及其无聊，以至于等到你前面铺垫开了，到了后面已经缺少那种紧张感刺激感了，一心只想着“卧槽这逼游戏怎么还没完”。
而这个游戏的“干活”，就是每天去灯塔那里，续油，然后让大灯转起来。听着很简单，但游戏中真正让你靠着肌肉记忆完成这项任务的流程只有两三次，因为后面每天的流程你都会遇到不一样的诡异事情整体的节奏并不拖沓，很少说感到无聊什么的，也就有一天的流程里下大雨，你需要去挖东西那里有点繁琐。
虽然是像素，但表现力完全不缺，故事叙事手法感觉看了一部诺兰的电影，总之这游戏真的建议一次性通关，两个多小时左右，不算长。多结局我没打，因为有些节点需要重头打，不能点关卡加载去刷，这点需要注意一下。

Эта игра из тех, которые куда лучше подходят для чьего-то пересказа на youtube, чем личного прохождения, по причине отсутствия какого-то интересного геймплея. Большая часть действий в игре "сходи из точки а в точку б, нажми кнопку е, потом идти из точки б в точку а" — всё это не сопровождается какими-нибудь интересными событиями или сюжетными откровениями.

Из плюсов возможность отыграть Дим Юрича с прятками в сортире и предложением воспринимать сюжет как история про бухого деда забывшего сына в подвале.

The story is good, and has kept me on the edge of my seat. But a walkthrough is required to avoid soft-locking yourself and needing to start the game over again. Having an accessible inventory would negate this issue entirely. Now I am playing on Linux so it could be my system and maybe nobody else has this problem, however I had to start up a new game twice now because I had accidentally soft-locked myself by not picking up and interacting with items in the correct order.

Trotz der Tatsache, daß dies ein Horrorspiel ist, fühlt es sich für mich nicht wie eines an.

Ich fühle mich eher so, als würde ich mit einem jugendlichen Vandalen auf meiner Insel zusammenleben; er beschmiert ständig meine Sachen mit schwarzer Tinte, er hat meinen Leuchtturm sabotiert, und dann hat er mein Dach kaputt gemacht und meine Küche verwüstet. Ich denke jedoch, daß ich die falsche Einstellung und Mentalität für dieses Spiel habe. Die Atmosphäre war da, das Design war da, aber die ganze Zeit während dieses letzten Kampfes konnte ich wirklich nur denken: 'Jetzt kann ich dich töten!' Ich knurrte gegen Ende des Kampfes 'Komm heraus, du Hahnrei!' und hätte beinahe meine Frau und Tochter aufgeweckt.

Ich glaube nicht, daß ich ein einziges Mal in dem Spiel Angst hatte, sondern eher nur genervt von dem Monster und dann sehr wütend war.

Die Atmosphäre ist dennoch hervorragend. Gutes Spiel.

This game manages to do a couple of things right, which is in a sense exceptional since not many games are capable of pulling these off. For example, tension is kept constantly high for mostly all the runtime, ambiance is cool (although the lighthouse concept is getting a bit old), it looks great (actually it looks horrendous, but you get my point: ♥♥♥♥♥♥ graphics are always a plus in horror games), and the length is on point (games aimed to scare should be short).

The issue is, most of its content doesn't make the slightest sense. The story is illogical, the lore is illogical, the gameplay is illogical. I am not complaining at minor plotholes that you realize are there a couple of hours latter when you think about what happened: I am complaining that apparently the monster that can eat me alive and makes loud noises when walk is able to steal my keys without me noticing, that kind of thing.

I can rant for long, but not without spoiling everything. I guess the game has made a big enough impact on the horror scene to justify playing it once, but I am not calling it a good game.

All in all the game is okay, but I would probably only buy it on sale. The aesthetics of the game are nice but nothing amazing for the retro aesthetic, and the tension at the start of the game is great, until you realize you can't really interact with anything you're not supposed to yet, and the game just becomes a sort of busy-work simulator where you do whatever the game is telling you to do without any real justification for why things are happening, and it just felt like they wanted you to explore the island and do random stuff. Also sometimes things aren't super clear on how you should progress, so you have to do random stuff and guess the order of what you need to do.

There's a couple chase scenes that are interesting but have no real stakes and are extremely easy to get out of, I didn't end up finishing the game because I just got bored.

TL;DR - Nice atmosphere but gameplay kind of sucks

Tohle byla určitě jedna z nejzvláštnějších her, co jsem kdy hrál. V tomto příběhu se snažíte udržovat maják v chodu a během plnění úkolů vás nahání stvůra (ne vždy).

Líbilo se mi retro zpracování, pár lekaček a celková atmosféra hry. Na druhou stranu jsem měl pocit, že příběhově některé věci nedávaly smysl.

Even when i haven't seen the Lighthouse movie, I have still really enjoyed the game. I think that the feeling of being lighthouse keeper is really greatly demonstrated in this game with the right horror feel in it. I really recommend playing it and if u want then watch the movie first.

A long game that, through its tiring nature, both calms your focus and builds tension at the same time. The visuals and music keep you in a constant state of anticipation, with the sense of suspense slowly growing and truly kicking in closer to the third day.
The mechanics are extremely simple, perhaps this simplicity is exactly what lowers your guard. The visuals can be a bit aggressive for players sensitive to flashing effects, but within the genre they effectively enhance the feeling of pressure and unease.
Overall, I recommend it. The game manages to keep you engaged and occupy your time without relying heavily on jump scares, which is a pleasant surprise.

The game starts of strong with a nice Lovcraftian atmosphere, but around the half waypoint it becomes a disjointed mess.
The game quickly becomes tedious because you have no agency. Normally this isn't a problem, because what you do makes sense. But here the main gameplay quickly boils down to guessing the order in which you have to do things to progress. Sometimes the actions are nonsensical.

Why do you have to dig up a coffin? No idea. You just have to do it, because you can't interact with anything else. It's as if the game is saying: "Click here for scary stuff to happen".

If I don't understand what's happening, then I can't be invested in whatever is happening. Same is with the random cuts that have no rhyme or reason other then "Boohoo scary stuff is happening! Aren't you scared?"

Sorry, but random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is just just not interesting.

このゲームはレトロなグラフィックと雰囲気、独特の世界観が持ち味のホラーゲームであり、ホラー要素も普通に楽しむことが出来る作品である。ホラー要素の中身についてだが、じわじわと来る怖さであり、雰囲気、世界観で怖さを感じさせている。その為ガチガチのホラーや声を出して驚く方向性ではなく、世界観、雰囲気で怖がらせてくるゲームなので、前者を望む人は注意する点であると感じた。このゲームの一番の特徴はストーリーの深さであり、相当ストーリーが難解で、難しい物になっている。場面が変わったり、時代が変わったり、意味深な描写があったりなどである。それぞれの実績にも意味があり、ストーリーという点では一切無駄が無い作品だと感じた。自分もストーリはsteamのレビューで詳しく説明している人やガイドで考察を見たが、結構説明不足な点が多いと感じたので、考察する人はその点を考慮してするのが推奨されます。
また、新エンディングに行くのには実績や他のルートも行かないといけないので注意が必要です。
このゲームは雰囲気、世界観、古風なグラフィックの三つのホラーゲームがしたい人で、更にじわじわと来る怖さとストーリーを考察して楽しみたい人にはお勧めできる作品だと思います。

The lighthouse sans Robert Pattinson et Willem Dafoe qui deviennent fous et jutent sur le phare.
Le début est sympa, le côté routine/folie est bien géré et il y a des idées cools à droite, à gauche mais la fin (même si je pense qu’il y en a plusieurs) était bof, le jeu se prend pour ce qu’il est pas et c’est chiant.
Tu perds pas le fil de l’histoire parce que le perso est fou mais plus parce que le jeu sait plus où il en est.
Ou alors j’ai rien compris et c’est incroyable.

Great game! PS1 style graphics and desert lighthouse island build heavy atmosphere and repetitive gameplay makes you feel like an actual lighthouse keeper. I care more about the vibe and experience than lore so latter half was a bit random and not as engaging as the beginning but it's a condensed 2 hour story so that's not really a big deal
