Very short, mostly just walking around doing basically fetch quests. Perhaps it's too easy on Normal, but at the same time due to the lackluster experience I doubt I'd pick it up again with a higher difficulty setting.

Atmospheric, but I wouldn't call it "survival" or "exploration" - the first boils down to "heat yourself every 30 seconds" and the second boils down to "another almost empty room with a crate and a desk".

Признаться честно, в свое время я очень сильно увлекался хоррорами ( симуляторами ходьбы, ок? С 2013 по 2016 только такие и выходили), и Near Death казалась именно такой. Я специально не читал описание к игре, и судил только по обложке и трейлеру. Оказался не хоррор, а выживач в ледяных и суровых условиях Антарктики. И знаете что? Ни разу не пожалел, и даже лучше чем ожидал годы назад.

[b] Сюжет и основной геймплей [/b]

Мы девушка ( как зовут, ей Богу не запомнил, это и не важно) самолёт которой потерпел крушение в Антарктике, не до летев до нашего места назначение - Мак-Мердо. Но нам повезло - рядом была исследовательская станция Сутро. Или...не очень повезло? Когда мы после довольно таки жёсткой посадки добираемся до базы, то мы видим, что там все полу-заброшенное, окна частично разбиты и людей нет. Поначалу я подумал, что там уже побывало Нечто и для успеха выживания нужно только разыскать МакРиди, но оказалось всё куда более прозаичнее и реалистичнее , и от этого не менее ужасным - базу закрыли, а демонтаж выполнен только на треть ( первая фаза), остальное рабочие отложили до улучшения погодных условий. В общем, нам тут никто не ждал, всё держится на соплях, генераторы работают не все и не везде, шкафчики с проводкой почти все поломаны, многие окна разбиты, что делать - неизвестно, но ясно одно - нужно не замёрзнуть и спастись любой ценой!

По геймплею - это выживач в ледяной буран на заброшенной полярной станции, где погода ухудшается с каждым часом, начинаем игру мы с минус 20, а заканчиваем сильным вытрем под минус 100 (!). Найдя средство коммуникации с Мак-Мердо, наша героиня пытается выработать с нашим корешем Майком план спасения. Зданий тут на базе немного, но расстояние между ними приличное. За окном - жуткий холод, к которому прибавляется буран и всё это происходит в полярную ночь. Поэтому перемещение от здания к зданию тут - очень тяжелое испытание, а по завершению - ощущение что сотворил подвиг. Вся суть тут - поддерживать себя в тепле. Для этого нужно собирать ресурсы какие есть, и крафтить что может нас согреть или утеплить здания в которых мы находимся.

Я проходил игру на средней сложности, но и это непросто - лут рандомный, меняется от сохранения к сохранению, заклеить все окна не получится, как и дать питания во все здания что бы в закрытых помещениях был свет и подогрев - тоже. Нужно думать. На улице - Ад на Земле, темно + сдувает ветер, но и скрафтить маркировочные огни и канатные тропы положить между всеми зданиями тоже не выйдет -нужно еще и уметь планировать маршрут. Главная задача - собрать снегоход, и снарядить себя в таких условиях в поход на 200 миль, что заставит нас посетить КАЖДОЕ здание в игре, по указаниям и подсказкам нашего кореша Майка с Мак-Мердо. Всю игру мы бегаем, крафтим, в общем, выживаем как можем, попутно собирая снегоход в долгий путь, что бы убраться с Сутро нахрен. Просто звучит, тяжело сделать.

[b] Геймдизайн, и общие впечатления в целом[/b]

Это очень суровый, но необычайно атмосферный выживач. Игра маленькая, весит всего гиг или около того, но на 5-8 часов одно прохождение точно займёт + реиграбельность на разных уровнях сложности, если хотите все ачивы. Играть было очень кайфово - мрачный визуальный стиль, как и крутой эмбиент саундтрек , подчёркивающий суровость и тяжесть нашего положения, но не вгоняющий в депрессию, только украшает Near Death. Всю игру теплится надежда, что получится выжить, несмотря на все эти тяготы судьбы. Достижения каждой из последующих сюжетных целей чувствуется, как победа над боссом в соулс-лайк игре, не меньше. Как выживач, игра отлично передаёт всю холодность и суровость ледяной пустоши Антарктики, и в конце этого приключения - выдыхаешь с радостью, с чувством завершения опасного приключения. Редко какая игра дарит подобные ощущения в наши дни, не только в жанре выживач, а в целом.

Рекомендую однозначно. Крутой атмосферный выживач, который стоит своих денег. Игра небольшая, проходится относительно быстро, но можно растянуть на пару зимних вечеров, отлично подходит в зимнее время года.

Но если серьёзно — отличный арктический +- линейный, не сильно растянутый бродилко-выживач. Если хочется атмосферы дубака в духе Анабиоза или Пенумбры, только без всяких страшилкоужастиков (но с напряжением жопы) и в коротком формате, то вполне себе пристойно.

Попотеть и напрячь немного мозги заставляет, заканчивается быстрее чем реально успевает надоесть

I really enjoyed Near Death. It's survival without the horror aspects frequently featured in arctic scenarios, it's just you versus the unforgiving arctic environment. I'd also note it's a fairly linear game. Don't expect to be looting materials to build bases or anything of the like. Your looting and crafting is limited to parts you need to buy time and survive long enough to escape. It clocks in around 3 hours long. If you liked the heat and cold elements of Cryostasis I'd certainly suggest taking a look.

Mikor a Near Death-et játszottam, beugrott egyből a Cryostasis, azzal a különbséggel, hogy az az Északi-sark közelében, ez pedig egy Déli-sarki kutatóállomáson játszódik.

Ide, egy Sutro nevű bázis közelében zuhan le főhősnőnk, aki folyamatosan a fagyhalál elkerülésével van elfoglalva, csak úgy mint az ukrán Action Forms játék főszereplője, viszont a Near Death a realitás talaján megmaradva nem kerget minket mindenféle rémségekkel, a halál viszont sokszor garantált a természet által, épp elég elfoglaltságot jelent a szűkös ellátmány beosztása és a melegíthető helységek felkutatása.
A Sutro bázis sok épületből áll melyek nincsenek távol egymástól, viszont a zord időjárás, a szél és a sötétség miatt gyakran megesik, hogy nem érünk át épségben a célba.
Az egyébként magyarul is játszható játék nem hosszú, mert a fejlesztőbrigád is csak három emberből állt, akik nagy játékfejlesztő cégektől álltak össze egy pár évre, a Near Death elkészültéig.

Szerintem rendben volt minden, beleérve a zenét is, bár én gyakran voltam frusztrált a körülmények miatt, sokszor elfelejtettem hogy a legnehezebb fokozatot vittem. Valahogy az atmoszféra nem adta, de ez amiatt is lehetett, mert többségében elég nagy volt a kapkodás és a pörgés.

Very atmospheric game with amazing visuals and weather design. Gameplay is fairly simple but that works well with the set up of the environment being the main challenge throughout the storyline as the player explores the base and gathers the required items. Normal difficulty was challenging but in an enjoyable way, not sure I'm brave enough to try it on the harder difficulties.

Amazing game! Gives off vibes of The Thing with the 1980s antarctic research camp, but without the monsters. A lot like Sub Nautica but instead of holding your breath you are trying to make it from spot to spot without freezing to death. Just like in that game, you can craft different things that lengthens the time you can spend in the cold, increasing your access to other parts of the camp. I absolutely loved this game!

Fantastic short survival game which is all about the atmosphere. Plot is minimal (collect stuff, don't die), which effectively keeps the focus on the brutal environment and your tenuous connection to other humans over the teletype. I did run into some very minor wonkiness with movement (had to reload 1-2 time because I couldn't move, and phased through one floor), but nothing that detracted from the game. This is one of my favorites that I've played recently. The last 2-3 minutes of the game are beautiful and felt like an unexpected reward for making it that far.

This is a short walking simulator through a hash Antarctica terrain. It was a bit difficult until I figured out the mechanisms. After that it was a bit easier to play. Fun for a few hours, more of a sit back and get into the cold vibe. Would not recommend playing this if you are already cold.

A fun survival experience, about 3-4 hours long.

The game play is centred around staying warm, managing resources, and planning your next trip across the facility. You have a lot of things to do if you want to make it out of this abandoned antarctic base alive. The main enemies are your limited resources and the cold which limits how long you can be outside at a time.

It is set in the 1980s on a dark and stormy night in the Antarctic with limited visibility and extreme weather conditions. Stranded in an abandoned and rundown research station, you have to navigate your way between various buildings, figuring out how to gather the necessary resources in order to be able to repair enough equipment to eventually be able to craft and execute an escape plan. Some of the equipment you gather makes your navigation much easier giving the game a hint of a Metroidvania. There’s also quite a lot of backtracking and eventually you get to know the base layout like the back of your hand. The puzzles, if you can call them that, are all environmental: How can I behave in a way that I can achieve this task without dying? That said it’s not trivial to avoid dying so you will have to think and be strategic.

The game effectively captures a sense of desolation, loneliness, and insecurity about being able to survive. You see no other living beings though you do occasionally interact over a teletype with home base. While fairly low poly and clearly a video game, it feels fairly like a real place, and authentically ripped out of the 80s in terms of equipment and furnishings.

The main challenge is not dying of exposure as you rush between buildings and other exposed areas. The game has a difficulty setting that controls how quickly you will lose consciousness. On easy it is still possible to die, but the game starts to take on a bit of a walking sim where you don’t have to worry too much about death unless you get badly lost, which you will probably be, at first. There is also a very small amount of platforming which I think most anyone should be able to clear. In theory you can run out of consumable resources and get stuck however on easy this seems pretty much impossible.

My biggest complaint is there is a key object necessary for being able to get through some doors that is neither hinted at nor particularly obvious when you come across it. I spent a dull and frustrating hour near the end trying to figure out what I was missing before I finally managed to stumble onto it. If you find yourself unable to get into the Water Station then it’s time to look at the steam guides for how to proceed.

I played with an Xbox 360 controller, and everything was possible to complete using just that input device.

I didn't finish the game but rather left it in the middle.
The batteries drained out, Karosine too and had no idea where to go without at least a compass in total darkness.
I've found myself wondering in the darkness trying to find the way to the next objective while facing the extreme weather which made me run to the shelter just to lose my way again.
Maybe I'm missing something here and the idea is good but after too many tries I left it.
I do recommended it for those who like these kind of survival games where you need to feel your way around.

Came back to this game after a few years and finally finished it on Condition 1, which is the hardest difficulty. Before I list my complaints, I just want to say the game is only $8, and it is an amazingly refreshing experience to have a survival game that doesn't feature supernatural creatures or angry cannibals or whatever. In that sense, I think it's worth supporting, but it's not perfect.

It's extremely linear, so don't even think about exploring if you're not explicitly told to go somewhere. Also, my Condition 1 playthrough was so utterly devoid of crafting materials (it's random) that I was forced to use almost nothing at all aside from kerosene for the heater and blowtorch. A tank of kerosene seems to last less than 30 freaking seconds on this difficulty, and you can freeze to death in sealed rooms, so make sure you've finished the game at least once before trying... it sucks.

The dialogue isn't always believable. The teletype message you see in the preview images above looks nice and professional, but rest assured that all communication from that point on will quickly deteriorate into things like pop culture references and cracking wise about the fact that our dear protagonist just had a near-lethal drop. From a collapsing bridge. Into a huge pile of snow. In an Antarctic blizzard.

I have an extremely hard time believing the pilot is in a truly life-threatening situation when she's bringing up The Shining and saying things like "I just took a flight. Without a plane." WOW! SO FUNNY! Can someone tell me why we're wasting the limited resources left on site at an abandoned, decommissioned facility for bad jokes instead of critical communication?

If none of these things are deal breakers for you, it might be worth playing at least once, if only to see a survival game that can be atmospheric and unsettling without supernatural creatures and jumpscares.

A fantastic short-ish game (around 3 hours for a first playthrough) where there are no monsters, no jump scares, no shooting, just you against the unforgiving environment of Antarctica. With cold constantly bearing down on you and resources running low, you need to think and act fast to finish a set of objectives and leave the place. The game is quite well balanced. My first playthrough was on hard; here cold affects relatively fast, resources are scarce and you cannot afford many mistakes. A single wrong turn out in the cold can cost you your life. When crafting items you need to consider tradeoffs and not expend scarce resources on relatively useless items. On Condition 1 (the hardest skill setting) you rely on your experience from the first playthrough to act as fast as possible and craft only what you absolutely must (such as better clothing and wiring kits for a few specific spots like the garage). Items that you might have overlooked on easier skill settings (such as rope and light poles) suddenly become essential. On easy (which I took a quick look at to get one last achievement related to light poles) resources are so abundant that you rarely need to consider tradeoffs, and cold affects you only very slowly, rendering your portable heater almost useless.
Anyway, the game is pretty cheap and has replay value, so get it if you enjoy a fair challenge. Just be adviced that you get little rest in Near Death, so if you're one of those who like to take their time to explore at their own pace, this game definitely isn't for you.

Delightful and tense 3 hour experience against the cold with mechanics added at the right time to keep pacing tight. Every decision I made along the way had trade-offs to make the moments of peace hit so much harder.

100% recommend as an engaging walking simulator that I'll be revisiting for sure.

Short narrative-driven game about surviving the Antarctic winter. No monsters, no aliens, just you vs the encroaching cold. It's relatively short (3.5-4 hours on Normal for my playthrough), but I think any longer and it would start to overstay its welcome.

A great premise but disappointing execution. The game is [i]very[/i] linear. You can roam wherever you want in theory, but if you go somewhere before being explicitly told to, you can't interact with any plot-relevant items, you'll use up valuable resources, and you may end up making the whole thing harder for yourself because some parts of the world only function once. You'll have to come back later when you're told to go check that area out anyway.

The resource economy and amount of backtracking are obnoxious. I wouldn't mind it in a longer game, but using double digits of batteries for my flashlight in my three-hour playtime (which seemed to cover about the same amount of time in-universe) is ridiculous. Batteries and kerosene tanks each only last about ten minutes. Yes, it's very cold, but really?

I was really looking forward to actually having to survive for a couple weeks in an abandoned research station, but the game quickly discards that idea in favor of a series of clunky fetch quests that, when completed, reward you with a black screen and credit roll.

Save your money unless it's on steep sale.

As someone else pointed out, for a game with no enemies or interactable characters, it never gets boring. The tension of trying to survive in a harsh climate feels real, keeping you engaged throughout.

The open-world map gives you the freedom to explore anywhere at any time, adding to the sense of realism, though the quests themselves are mostly linear and follow a decent story. The atmosphere is a standout—the scenery and weather effects are beautifully done, fully immersing you in the cold wilderness.

If you enjoyed Firewatch, this is basically the frozen version of that. Definitely recommend!

Que juego de porquería, me encantó. El ambiente es muy asfixiante, la música desesperante y el viento, ese viento de porquería que taladra tus oídos, se hacen presentes embonando todo perfectamente en un juego de supervivencia. Es corto, pero desesperante, no hay que preocuparse más que de no morir congelado y nada más, pero ahí mismo radica la dificultad, el entorno en sí es un gigantesco monstruo que buscará matarte congelado. Realmente es una experiencia muy inmersiva que te sumerge en la desesperación por sobrevivir en el ártico. Altamente recomendable.

"Near Death" es un juego que sabe exactamente lo que quiere lograr. Aunque no se trata de un survival en su fórmula completa (aquí no hay hambre, sed o enfermedades), toma algunos elementos característicos del género para mantenerte completamente inmerso en una atmósfera de tensión constante.

Sin la presencia de puzzles imposibles, una decena de items por craftear y con la cantidad adecuada de recursos, el gameplay nunca se vuelve insufrible. Sin embargo, te obliga a planificar cuidadosamente el uso de esos recursos para no arrepentirte más tarde. En resumen, "Near Death" ofrece entretenimiento de sobra, en sus 4 horas de duración, manteniéndote enganchado del principio al fin.

Pretty good game ! It reminded me of The Long Dark a bit, I liked the ambiance a lot. I wish there was a little bit more to the story but for a short experience, that was pretty neat ! Also, I feel that the normal difficulty was quite easy tho, I recommend playing at least on hard difficulty if you want some challenge.

As someone else pointed out, for a game with no enemies and no interactable characters, you never get bored and you really feel the stress of trying to survive in the harsh climate. You have an open world map and the freedom to walk anywhere at any time, giving it a good sense of realism, but with mostly linear quests that play out through a decent story. The scenery and the weather and very nicely done too. Definitely recommend, particularly if you liked Firewatch (this is basically the cold version of that!)

I don't know why this is steam deck verified, but it probably shouldn't be. There are some graphical glitches that make it impossible to see certain options (like when you encounter the first teletype), and also, the controls are not labelled correctly. They still show letters (like "press R to refill") when playing on the steam deck with a PS5 controller (I didn't try it without a controller), so I would argue it shouldn't be listed as fully compatible.

As it is, the controls are pretty confusing. I'll try it again later to see if they fixed the graphical glitches, but for the moment, I find it unplayable. I won't refund it, but I can't recommend it in its current state.

Просто искал себе игру с атмосферой Антарктидой, жесткой зимой и выживачом. Когда играл впервые то не покидало мысль вернуть деньги, НО! Чем дальше играл тем я не заметил как игра буквально начинает пронзать мою душу. Мое сердце сжималось и стучала как вне себе. Диалоги живые. История интересная. Атмосфера особенно в конце просто ШИКАРНА! Не жалею что потратил свои деньги и время. Как игру на пару вечеров очень рекомендую.

Surprisingly nifty little game. Movement is a bit awkward, but it looks halfway decent, the story is compelling, and the survival mechanics are actually rather thrilling, which I think can be chalked up to the excellent environmental design. My recommendation is to avoid the higher difficulties unless you play a second time to get those achievements; on the hardest difficulty, the random resources are scarce enough that you can just get shafted out of being able to craft essential items, and the timer for freezing in the cold is so short that it not only becomes frustrating, but inadvertently removes all tension by turning the game from a survival horror into a reload-until-successful-athon, which isn't very scary at all. On normal, I didn't die at all (though I certainly could have at some moments), but I was on edge the whole time. On condition 1, I was just mildly annoyed half the time. Still, pretty good, bite-sized game. Highly recommend!

Якщо ви шукаєте собі невелику самітну атмосферну виживалку на пару вечорів, Near Death — це саме те, що вам підійде. До неймовірності атмосферна й моторошна гра з гарною графікою, приємним саунд-дизайном, яке в купі дає незабутні відчуття й приємний посмак після закінчення.

Одразу хочу звернути увагу на те, що гра досить коротка. Для сучасного гравця, мабуть, аж надто коротка. 4-5 годин неквапливого проходження на важкій складності — це максимум. Та все ж я рекомендую її. І це кажу я, для кого коротка гра — одразу червоний прапор. Чому ж я її раджу?

Near Death — це горор-виживалка, але не така, про яку ви одразу подумали. У грі ви не зустрінете прибульця, маніяка чи бозна-яку монстряку. Near Death розповідає історію про кмітливу й рішучу жінку, яка, попри лютий мороз і нескінченну заметіль, сам на сам б’ється з найнепривітнішим і найнебезпечнішим місцем на Землі — з Антарктидою.

Кожен вихід на вулицю — тотальна боротьба за життя. Темрява, страшна хурделиця, нічого не видно за снігом. Вітер настільки сильний, що без мотузки тебе здуває зі шляху. І під час кожного такого виходу ти чуєш моторошний до сиріт на шкірі саундтрек, який щосекунди нагадує “Ти в небезпеці”, “Хутчіше шукай укриття”, “Ти замерзаєш”, “У тебе мало часу”. А на додачу у цьому хаосі досить просто втратити напрям руху й загубитися. Що ж, іще одна людина, яку поховає сніг…

Та попри все, на останніх секундах таки встигаєш дістатися будівлі й зігрітися. Але тут ще небезпечно. У приміщенні немає світла й вибиті вікна, а керосину для обігрівача обмаль. Треба відремонтувати електрощиток і залатати вікно. Зараза, немає проводки, треба знайти її десь тут, поки ще є паливо. Батарейка в ліхтарику здохла, ще цього не вистачало. Нічого не бачу… Ура, є проводка, щиток полагоджений, вікна залатані. Нарешті безпечно. Нарешті є час зібратися з думками й пометикувати, що робити далі. Або ж просто відпочити від усього цього.

Near Death, як ви вже зрозуміли, напрочуд атмосферна гра. Вона змушує вірити в непереборну силу стихії й ти постійно відчуваєш себе в небезпеці під час вилазок. Та з іншого боку, безпечні й “обжиті” гравцем місця відчуваються затишно й комфортно. На місце холодних синіх відтінків і моторошного саундтреку приходять теплі, приємні кольори й набагато менш інтенсивний звуковий супровід. Це неочікуваний й досить сильний контраст, який, одначе, влучно доповнює атмосферу. У грі є один конкретний момент, де це відчувається прям дуже сильно.

Так само влучно атмосферу доповнює і графіка. Я аж ніяк не є графічним дизайнером й суджу картинку виключно з перспективи пересічного гравця. Та на мій хлопський розум, подібна графіка чудово підходить для таких виживалок. У мене вона викликає асоціації з живописом, наче модельки підмалювали пастеллю від руки. Тож у підсумку, графіка виглядає стильно, не відчувається “застарілою” й доповнює загальну атмосферу. А приємним бонусом є те, що гра геть невимоглива до заліза, і її легко можуть потягнути будь-які дрова.

[h3] А що ж там з недоліками? [/h3]

Недоліки в Near Death звісно ж є. Це невелике інді-творіння з маленьким бюджетом і командою, тож воно має типові проблеми, притаманні інді. Наприклад брак “глибини” в різних аспектах. Крафт досить примітивний. Кількість речей, які можна зробити дуже невеликий, немає можливості розбирати предмети на складники.

Діалоги, які до речі відбуваються через телефонограму, хоч і написані на непоганому рівні, здебільшого функціональні. З переписки протагоністки й диспетчера видно, що між ними була історія, або вони до біса добре знайомі. І ти очікуєш якоїсь глибини в розмові, переходу на особисте, прояву характерів. Але цього не відбувається. І подібних прогалин у Near Death можна знайти вдосталь.

Звісно можна зробити зарозуміле обличчя і сказати, що гра “примітивна” й “неглибока”, бо має пару таких моментів, але не варто забувати, що це маленька інді з обмеженими можливостями. До того ж це була б геть несправедлива оцінка, бо більша частина гри зроблена на якісному рівні.

На перше проходження я раджу важку складність. Ресурсів обмаль, але все в адекватних межах. Не рекомендую легку складність через надмірну кількість ресурсів і слабкий вплив погоди на гравця.

Near Death коштує як 2 чашки кави *плаче через ціни на каву*. На розпродажах на неї часто величезна знижка. Тож навіть якщо гра не зайде (а це вкрай малоймовірно), це все одно не ті гроші, за якими варто сумувати. Спробуйте, вона того варта.

Really cool indie game. Sadly, not very long and the ending was reportedly also cut due to time and budget constraints. Despite that, the intensity of the weather, evokes a very immersive experience. I'll probably will beat this game again, but on a higher difficulty for that reason alone. The soundtrack works really well, and those brief moments of safety gave me genuine feels of coziness. Although some of the platform-based gameplay (having to make somewhat questionable movements), the overall experience totally makes it up for it.

A short but sweet little 2-3 hour game. One of those games that isn't a horror game, yet is absolutely horrifying in how vulnerable you are to the environment. But in the end, that last vista of the game is so beautiful after the struggle.

My only complaint is that it's very linear: There is no point to visiting an area of the complex before being told to, and no reason to visit them again once you've left (with one exception).

Чутка багованная, неудобная, корявая поигрулька. Замах на рубль, выхлоп - на три копейки.
1. Механика замерзания ничерта не понятна вначале. Готовьтесь к 3-4 смертям на ровном месте.
2. Постоянно гоняют туда-сюда по базе. Есть элементы "метроидвании", только г0вняные. Например вы не можете взять некоторые вещи до определённого момента в "истории". Они так и будут лежать на столе, пока не отработает скрипт и включит интеракцию с ними. Это - г0вняный дизайн.
3. О! История... Единственный инструмент продвижения "истории" (он же "раскрыватель" персонажей) - телетайп. Всё. Ни интересных записок, ни страшной истории про то как полярники поехали кукухой и ушли голые в снега - ничего. Просто самолёт. Просто упал. Мы просто тётка, которая просто нашла полярную базу без единого человека на ней. С генераторами в рабочем состоянии, с топливом и пр. Тётка просто мёрзнет. Мы просто скучаем. Всё. Это вся история. Без "спойлеров". Хотя спойлерить тут нечего.
4. Игра играется, она проходима. Баги есть, но с ними жить можно. Совет - люлька проезжает только один раз. Не пытайтесь на ней заехать обратно - будете стоять в лимбе, где ничего не происходит, а выйти нельзя. Делайте сейвы.
5. А ну и конечно же cраная механика ветра... Оооо-да... В общем, куда бы вас не отправили, готовьтесь к ветру в рыло. В любой момент времени. Он вас стопорит на месте. Способ борьбы - присесть. Очень удобно, когда вам надо преодолеть большое расстояние в метель и БЫСТРО. Или перепрыгнуть сломанные мостки. Кайф. Каждый раз получал ни с чем несравнимое удовольствие. Г0вно. Mрази. Ж0па. Зачем? Каждый раз - ветер в харю, У меня в руках стальной бидон на 100 литров, я и так замедлен - не. Мало. Надо ещё и ветер в морду. Кайф.
"С бидоном на кортах в метель". Вот вам резюме. Весело? Нет. Интересно? Нет.
Не брать. Ничего нового тут нет.

Allow me to explain :

I dont hate on this genre of games.They barely have enough things in them to call them a game,but they (ideally) compensate by having you expirience a rich story from the eyes of protagonist.
Near Death,however, has neither enough gameplay nor story/dialogue to be interesting. You pick stuff up,carry it and talk to a typewriter before repeating it before reaching a dissapointing ending : [spoiler] Garage door opens and you say you're going home.End credits. This little gem is incredible. Yes, it's rather short, but the gameplay is interesting and the atmosphere is awesomely done. The music is great and sets the tone well. Also, while the themes are similar to The Long Dark, this game is actually finished. I wish the developer had been able to take this as far as they had wanted.

They did it; they made a frightening survival game in the real world without a single monster. It is amazing how good this game is at communicating coldness. PROS:
+ It's strangely atmospheric, despite the graphics being low, there's a part when the weather dies down and the view is just... wow.
+ The game puts fear into you, not due to monsters or anything, but due to the weather, planning your journeys is key in this game.
+ The crafting is minor but effective, crafting items that'll protect you against the harsh cold.

CONS:
- Very short! Even took my time by thoroughly exploring the rooms and still finished it in a few hours.
- Kind of a spoiler here but after finding the final piece, the weather dies down completely, the view is gorgeous but dampens the story a little.

VERDICT:
Quite a hidden gem, it's rough around the edges in terms of game length but it's worth a couple of runs, I managed to play it on the hardest difficulty, and still managed to finish this under the 3 hour mark. I didn't feel like I rushed it but as long as you use the equipment efficiently, it's easy to manoeuvre around blizzard area.

I mentioned in the cons that the weather clears after finding the last part for the snowmobile, it's mildly infuriating since this is a survival game, why does the weather drastically change at the final hurdle? For a good view? Kinda feels like the whole scavenger hunt was for nothing. With that said, it's still a pretty fun game to play and worth it's asking price.

After your plane crash-lands in Antarctica, you find yourself stranded and alone at an abandoned research facility in the midst of a deadly blizzard. Plunged into utter darkness, temperatures 100 degrees below zero, and conditions far too harsh to allow for rescue, you must explore Sutro Station and and use the tools at your disposal in hopes of escaping and finding your way home.

Nice little survival game, doesn't do anything super ambitious or overstay its welcome. Obviously the mechanics and design strain credulity at times in order to make facing 'the cold' as the primary antagonist more interesting/challenging, but it all works fairly well. Graphics, sound, and overall atmosphere fit together nicely. Most flaws in my eyes relate to the game needing a bit more polish. For example, giving the user more and clearer cues on their 'cold' status would've made some spots a bit less frustrating. Would also have been nice to be able to deconstruct/decraft inventory items (something that would most certainly happen in that sortof situation). Big picture though these nitpicks are pretty easy to overlook, and if you're interested in the idea of a pretty original survival game, you're likely to enjoy this.

In a market oversaturated by "survival" games, this one stands out as actually being SURVIVAL. There's no monsters to avoid. There's no big assembly lines to build. There's no terraforming the land into your own personal factory and mansion. You are stuck at an abandoned research base in Antarctica, you are at constant risk of freezing to death, and it just keeps getting worse. It's incredibly gripping, and manages to be scary without cheap jumpscares or ominous notes - less like a horror movie and more like a thriller. Best of all, there's actually an ending; you're not just here for the sake of seeing how long you can last. I have never in my life felt so relieved to see the credits roll.

Basically, you just have to NOT freeze to death brrrrrr and there's stuff to help you with that while you're looking for a way out of this predicament which you can craft or pick up around the map. Ahhhhhh. The weather gets worse over time and it makes moving a bit awkward if you're moving in the opposite direction of it (like fighting the current) ungggh brrrrrr.

About 3-hours of gameplay.

I paid £1.20 for it which as the protagonist likes to say a little too often is 'okay, okay.'

Animations for the beginning and end would've been nice just for a little cherry on top.

Easy achievements if you're into harder difficulties. I guess I'll just settle for 16 of the 18 achievements because Normal difficulty was enough for me personally.

Overall, I recommend it and it was a pretty cool experience.
