a game that has been in early access for almost 8 years now... started out well, i loved the game giving a break down of different mechanics from the start of a new game, however it doesnt explain how to actually start. it throws you in with no help on how to start playing and what you should be doing or how.

Fighting is.. interesting, although getting hit once just means your going to die slowly because you get insant bleed out, and despite many items at your disposal, such as rags or a sewing kit, these wont work to stop bleeding out.

dying is a bit more weird and just a complicated way for the game to kinda screw with you. With no way known off the bat to craft storage or place things safely away, if you die, you lose some items which can be found floating above your death spot but unattainable. but what if I throw stuff on the ground in my base? those items no longer can be picked up and are just unattainable junk in a pile.

The game has been out long enough that this sort of stuff shouldnt be a problem, if the game hasnt been worked on in some time I could understand, however I was seeing updates as recently as 7 days ago from this post. not sure what the developers have had in mind or where their progress is going but right now the game seems more about looks than playing.

Yes, No, Maybe...Who knows. This game has been out for awhile now and still feels janky, It does play better on the coop test branch than it does on the main game. I keep coming back to it hoping they have updated the main game with those improvements. At least the dev's are still working on it and it hasn't just been abandoned like so many seem to be. It is still a work in progress though so keep that in mind. It has the stuff to be great, it just needs it brought to the surface.

I purchased this title in 2018; And the amount of meaningful content that has been added since that time has been abysmal. There have been no updates to the "public" branch of the client in quite some time. Whilst the dev focuses on the MP / coop build, the game itself is essentially dead. Even in the branch where "active development" is still taking place, the majority of the world is empty, and vehicles that were useable several years ago no longer work. Same with shelters. I'll reinstall this hoping for some kind of change about once a year, because the game had initial promise, but always end up disappointed.

TL;DR - Stuck in dev hell, so barring some kind of miracle, save your money and leave this title in 2018 where it belongs.

Seid 2018 im EE und es hat sich nicht wirklich viel getan!? Ja echt jetzt und in den nächsten 10 Jahren wird es nicht anders sein, krass echt, seid 2018.

Es ist halb fertig und die Grafik ist alt und Pixel. Eine wirkliche Story gibt es nicht und alle Updates basieren eher auf Steam-Zwang damit man nicht Closed. Ebenso sind alle Elemente halbfertig und neue verbessern nichts, diese machen nur schlechte verbugte Elemente rein aber vom Game selbst bleit alles seid 2018 EE, Bugs und Nerv.

Es gibt ja echt Games die irgendwie am leben bleiben müssen um automatisch Geld zu generieren dabei spielt es auch keine rolle ob diese im ewigen Koma sind.

Zurückgeben ging auch damals nicht da die Zeit abgelaufen und wohl bewusst gestreckt wurde (Einlogfehler, sonstige Fehler), dann ist es so als hätte man bereits die Rückgabe-Spiel-Frist von den vorgegebenen Stunden überschritten. Steam denk daher du hast lange und kräftig gespielt.

Na ja, kennt man ja von vielen Kopie und Paste Games. Ich Rate dringend vom Kauf ab, warte lieber weitere quasi Zehn Jahre und seht ob die Farbe der T-Shirts nun anders sind oder ein neues Zombie Monster hinzukam. Kann aber auch sein das nach so vielen Jahren ein neuer Eimer oder ein neuer Stuhl hin zu kommt, nur eben in helleren braun oder grau, ja ich weis, voll wichtig. Wichtiger als das Spiel, ich weis.

This glitch ridden, clunky game is absolutely not worth playing. Its unfinished (obviously) but in a very irritating way as there are assets that have no use, doors that wont open, whole areas that appear to have no purpose. There is no autosave, so if you forget to save after a few hours and it has one if its many glitch or crashing moments then you lose all the time you put into it. I found one engine, it glitched away and disappeared, no matter where I looked, I could not find another engine, meaning a whole element of the game was lost to me. Late game has no great surprises, build a base, nothing attacks it, what's the point? No end game boss, only three types of enemy, a mess of ideas probably from different developers who have picked up this project over the 8 years it has been in development. It is laggy as hell, so the pistol is pointless, I played it early on and I found it much more enjoyable than it is now, this feels like a very different game and is honestly not worth even the budget price it is now

Hrozně zvláštní typ survival hry. Graficky nic převratného, nápad nijak inovativní a přesto se ke hře stále vracím, ani nevím proč. Je to single player hra kde přežíváte v nevelikém světě. Upřímně ani nevím jestli je ve hře nějaký cíl kromě přežití co největšího počtu dnů, ale hra má takovou zvláštní atmosféru a zvuky která mě vždycky pohltí. Jednou za čas pahne hustá mlha a začnou se z lesů vynořovat zombíci, nebo něco v podobném smyslu. Hned ze začátku najdete nějaké jednoduché úkryty a také narazíte na domy které lze zabrat a zabydlet se v nich. Ve hře je možnost i výroby předmětů a stavění různých zařízení nebo obranných mechanismů a staveb. Většina vybavení ve hře jde přenášet, takže když narazíte na dům kde jsou židle a nebo menší nábytek či kufry, můžete to vzít do rukou a odnést nebo naložit na vozík a odvézt. Celkově jsou ve hře zajímavé mechaniky, ale jak jsem psal, nic převratného.
Pokud máte rádi jednodušší survivalovky, tak doporučuji vyzkoušet.

It is a great game for people who are wanting a god survival game needs work on respawning items. mean I understand why it doesn't but the map is to small for there not to be reasonable items mostly food and drinks and look caches. for the demo needs to add everything to actually be able to advance. like I cannot make the fire wood at all nore the thing that lets you make it. the AI is good with the raiders but could get better routes in there system and better movement around stuff. I have been playing this for a good while and the only problem I have ran into is some glitches in the map an problems with the crafting. the only thing that I can not craft is the firewood I looked it up tried and found out that I would need a stump to cut the logs in half but I am unable to even do that because it is not in the beta version. one more thing is that on some of the guns the sights do not work at all. Other wise then that its a great game when it comes to co-op and fully released I recommend you and you friends getting this and playing it together

PLAYED this game shortly after it first came out was fun. reloaded it after few years and it will not recognize any weapon/item slot 1 or any of them no matte what i try. ive uninstalled and reinstalled and still wont recognize weapon/item slots. very aggravating so ill uninstall and move on to better games.

Il fût un temps où j'achetais mon joystyck ou mon JVM, un temps et où j'allais acheter mon jeu en magasin en format boîte. Des jeux finis et testés. Aujourd'hui, on sort une coquille vide, on la vend et ensuite on engrange au fil des mises à jour. Je suppose que le développeur prend le temps de dépenser l'argent amassé. Tantôt une nouvelle maison, une nouvelle voiture, des vacances ensoleillés et tantôt on sort une MAJ à deux balles et ça continue. 2018 - 2026. C'est devenu une rente.

I've been enjoying my time with Mist, it's not alot of hours and sure it's most likely nowhere close to complete but I take it with a grain of salt when you think about the fact that this is mostly a "solo project" (Not counting on the additional help here and there). I like the concept and everything about the game, it just needs more time.

I would say that this game fits a very niche audience and if anyone is thinking about buying the game then maybe check some gameplay or try it out yourself and make your own opinion. Early Access games are bound to be buggy (not all and not everytime but most).

It could be worse...it could be a triple A game that is "complete" and is filled with bugs and crashes.

I kind of regret buying this game.

I bought this game nearly 3 years ago now and it remains a clunky mess.
A lot of the gameplay just feels unfinished and slow.

Yeah sure, The game is early access but its been there since 2018.

The idea is cool but the lack of refinery of anything just is frustrating.
Think do get updated but it feels so unfinished when something else gets added.

I really do hope this game gets some stuff refined because on paper its great. And if it was early access for a year or two it would be fine. But for 8 years it's just not great.

One thing this game has good is optimization. It runs Pretty well as long as the game code isn't borked.

I completely forgot about this impulse purchase from several years back, but found it again a little bit ago buried in the depths of my library and when I saw that it had been getting weekly updates for the past several months, I figured I would check it out and see how things have come along.

I start a new game, load in, and then get mauled to death by a bear a few paces from where I spawned in. Not a great start, but no big deal, let's try it again. It says I'll lose my inventory if I revive and my base might get looted so instead I quit to the main menu and start another new game. Load back in and now I can't interact with anything because all the controls got zeroed out... And there doesn't seem to be a way to reset them to default so I guess I have to do it all manually? Is this going to happen each time I die? Also, as apparent in the screenshots there are female characters in the game, but you can't play as female for whatever reason. I guess they're just there as eye candy for the time being.

Not sure what else to say other than I vaguely remember the game being more stable years ago. Did it get updated to a new game engine or something? It's wild that it's glitchy enough to wipe your controls on death and then not let you save them. Maybe I could restore them by validating the game files, but honestly, is it really worth it? If it's glitchy enough to wipe controls like that, what else is going to fall apart further down the line?

I guess I'll come back and check on it again after it has had more time in the oven.

So, I bought this game a couple years ago, CLEARLY I only played 7 hours of it. Tried to play it again after a long absence from it, and it is still buggy.
1: Almost ALWAYS spawns you near an enemy base where they all have guns and you have a pointy stick.
2: The "tutorial" is just a clickable list of stuff you can do and doesn't give full explanations on the aspects of the games, just a generalized 'here is what you can do, figure the rest out yourself'
3: Crafting is underexplained and item descriptions are unhelpful. Example(as another person elaborated) It doesn't tell you what the building NEEDS to be useful, so putting a water tank in the middle of your base with no water source under it makes it just abstract art and useless. Standing torches don't state they need fuel and when crafted are useless until you find it. Firewood has to be crafted for Barrel light sources. And crafting structures can randomly stops in the middle of crafting.
4: Hunger/Thirst system is buggy, sometimes fast drain, sometimes slow drain, regardless of weather and exertion.
5: Food spoils far too fast, and PRESERVED FOODS in CANS go bad fast as well.
6: Farming is relatively useless as all the harvested foods spoil faster then the found foods, and there are some foods you cannot grow and must find.
7: Weapon systems are....to put it nicely, really crappy. Melee weapons do near nothing in damage compared to just fist-fighting the infected. Bows cannot be "hip fired" and always need to be aimed before releasing. Regular guns lose accuracy after modding them with better sights.

The game concept is great, the premise is nice, but the execution needs a TON of work. If the Dev is still working on this game, PLEASE play and debug your own game, so you know what needs fixed, instead of just adding more to it and breaking it further. Possibly make a specified zone where the initial spawn is a set "safe zone" with no infected and no gun-toting enemy bases are nearby to just sec-kill you after you just get into game and begin looking around.
I will change my review in another 6 months is it happens to be better by then.

Nach 2 Jahren bin ich mal wieder in das Spiel reingesprungen und es hat sich leider um einiges mehr verschlechtert.

Worüber ich mich sehr gefreut habe, ist die Map Funktion, die war auch extrem nötig.

Das wars aber auch schon wieder mit den neuen positiven Sachen. Ich habe hotkey probleme, mir wird bei was auch immer für einer Aktion, immer nur ein leerer Hotkey angezeigt. Die Gegner sind um einiges schlechter geworden sei es Banditen oder die zombies.

Die Gegner sind stuck in einer Animation und entweder wird man aus 10000M erkannt oder steht einfach mittendrinnen ohne dass etwas passiert.

Das Core Gameplay, finde ich hat auch gelitten, besonders der Crafting Teil.

Mal schauen wo sich das noch alles hinentwickelt, damals war ich sehr zuversichtlich und hatte echt spaß, jetzt hab ich das game nach 20 Minuten gequittet weil es echt schlecht ist.

Schade.

* Техническая сырость и баги (для раннего доступа простительно, но ощутимо)
* Высокий порог входа – на старте легко запутаться, нужно разбираться и учиться на ошибках
* Угроза существует только локально: зомби, бандиты и звери привязаны к своим зонам и не покидают их. За пределами этих территорий можно жить спокойно – никто не нападает, погода не вредит. Из-за этого общее напряжение быстро спадает
* Сырая боевая система и плохая физика
* Карта есть, но не отмечает текущее местоположение

Игра с огромным потенциалом, который пока реализован лишь частично. Это редкий проект, где чувствуется настоящий дух постапокалипсиса: суровая природа, необходимость планировать и локальное, но ощутимое напряжение. Но техническая сырость и недоделанные механики не позволяют ему раскрыться в полную силу. Сейчас это скорее неогранённый алмаз для тех, кто готов мириться с недочётами ради возможности увидеть, как из многообещающей идеи рождается нечто большое
✔️ Понравится, если вы ценитель симуляторов выживания и готовы прощать технические шероховатости; любите исследовать миры, обустраивать базы и крафтить; хотите погрузиться в атмосферу и насладиться пейзажами

A feedback for people who want to try this game:

So first of all: This game is still early access after almost 8 years...
When playing one thing i instantly noticed was the lack of structures and if there were interesting ones, they were full of zombies which sprinted towards you once you were somewhat in their radius. Sneaking isn´t really a method... It´s just sneaking... no stealth.
I´m someone who values logic in games - atleast some. AND especially in survival games. Almost every car had no tires - who stole them? I found a gun along with 7 packets - mind you packets - of ammo, which only gave my gun 7 BULLETS. Kinda crazy - no, they weren´t counted as magazines. The graphics were okay, atleast it didn´t bug me off. I didn´t play long, becaause i couldn´t... The game is playable, but not always enjoyable. I´ve seen cool things in the screenshots and got exicted, but never got that far in the game. If you value open world - it does give you an open world - maybe too much. If you walk too far, you´ll fall down. Not a big deal though. What i said before. The buildings looked off place and if they were actually not decayed, you could find some loot. I think, especially for my taste, there was too less of an adventure. Why were there so less buildings? Overall i think this game needs some more work - yes. I don´t wanna say it´s bad bad, ´cause i couldn´t develop a game myself, but i think i would want more detail, story, lootable buildings, survival stuff and especially better lootpool...

Maybe some people like it ´cause it´s simple, i dislike it ´cause it´s too simple... Maybe so simple it kinda makes it harder. Like the magazine example i gave-

IF YOU BUY, think about if you like simplicity, don´t mind much/no story at all, simple lootpool, more of a (i´ll try everything) than i´ll horde loot if i need it for something, ´cause some items are rare...

So if you are a person who doesn´t mind games that aren´t perfect, can live with:

-little optimization
-little story
-not much to explore
-not much logic (so less, that it could be other than you expect from a game based on how it´s in rl)
-a map that stays the same
-AND have much time to spend ´cause i didn´t find no backpack and you prolly have to build anything to store items...
-small map

Es ist sehr schlecht gemacht aber trotzdem auch cool weil es viele Mechaniken gibt wie Möbel aufheben und platzieren oder Shelter für NPCs bauen oder einrichten. Man kann Coop spielen in der richtigen Spielversion, und weil es einigermassen schön aussieht es doch echt Unterhaltam. Man kann Häuser einrichten und muss den Generator betanken und kann einige Autos fahren. Die Waffen sehen auch cool aus.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?
“I expect the game to be in EA Version until the balance of the game is stabilized and the season system has been added completely. I expect everything to be done by 2025.”

It's 2026 now and the game is far from being finished. Good foundations but eight years in making with barely any progress in every updates is a joke. This is the first and last time I back up a dev for an early access.

The game definitely needs more work, as of right now, its pretty bad. I would not recommend buying it right now in its current state. Some examples.

Food and drinks expire even if they are canned, doesnt make sense.
Food expires way too fast
You cant grow most crops, but they are required to make stew and other foods.
You can only find certain foods like broccoli in lootable house and on raiders, not zombies. So its rare for no reason
Crops dont fill as much food as everything else
Crops expire extremely fast
Growing crops is way more work than the outcome is worth.
There isnt a point to cooking food as it does not fill as much as canned stuff.
Broken leg means the agonizing pain of slow walking, but whats the point if you can sleep it off in 8 hours of sleep or hop on your 4 wheeler or car and drive.
The trading outpost is a straight rip off, also in an extremely weird spot in the corner of the map which itd be better if it was center.
Quests should be a thing in the game, working for items and materials because loot does not respawn.
Melee weapons are useless, they dont do good damage, you take more damage using them against zombies.
The descriptions for items and buildings is very vague, I placed my water tower and realized it needs to be near water to suck up water, it didnt explain that or even how to use it.
Some sort of waves or horde mechanic should be introduced, as of right now, its just a go to town, loot, build with no worry of zombies attacking except in towns.
Lootable NPCs should give far better loot, killing a shotgun guy should give shotgun ammo, armor, gun parts, gun itself, instead, the loot they give is random like broccoli (most common) carrots (common as rags), rarely anything gun related or ammo. They are wearing clothes and they dont drop them, cmon man
Dont ever use melee against raiders, they have aimbot and will instantly kill you even if you get a good hit in, they cant get stunned or drop weapons which makes it impossible.
Hitboxes with melee weapons are awful, you have to be touching the npc to actually hit them, but zombies and raiders can smack or shoot you from 80 feet away
Sniper tower snipers have insane aimbot, they can spot you from 100 miles away and instakill you with one shot.
No stealth mechanic so raiders can even see you at night
Only way to really play is to backstab enemies, otherwise you waste so much ammo or durability on weapons
Fishing is in the game but its so boring
You can't deconstruct built structures so once you place them, they act as a wall which can block you or get in your way permanently. The only way to fix it is to start a new save.
Building is strange, things dont line up for some reason yet they clip together.
Building requires way too many materials, when materials are rare enough as is
Houses are indestructible, so no worry of zombies breaking through windows or busting down doors
Night is literally pitch black, if you get caught outside without light, you are literally staring at a black screen until morning or sleeping until morning. The moon should provide some light at least.
You are invincible in vehicles, zombies cant attack and raiders bullets do nothing to the car. I stood next to the weird tentacle zombie on my 4 wheeler and it just lost interest as soon as I got on

There is 100s more problems like floating structures, house mesh you fall through the floor and stuff but just some of the many examples.

I liked this game it has a lot of depth and is really fun it is a bit slower for my personal liking but i know some people enjoy that but there are some problems especially bugs and the game is basically unplayable on hard drive you need ssd my game kept either loading for 15mins or just crashes when on hard drive

Игра не оправдала ожиданий. 8 чертовых лет и она до сих пор в раннем доступе и там мало что изменилось кроме переработанной карты. Оптимизация нулевая, много багов, лагает до жути. Сохранения работают через раз, непонятно зачем добавили кооп. Как выживалка нормас, зомби, бандиты, животные, нпс, система прокачки оружия и ранения. Но как полноценная игра - фигня. Желаю удачи разработчику, но желания у меня больше нету в эту игру играть

Ah yes, lets focus on co-op when I dont even have a properly working game. Great idea. This guy has like severe ADHD when it comes to trying to decide what he wants to add to the game. He wants to add more and more new stuff when the basics are completely broken. Then when he has an aspect that works, he decides he doesnt like it anymore and completely changes it. This game has the potential to be great if it had a different developer.

This is a garbage game. After all these years, there hasn’t been a single major improvement; it’s completely stagnant. It’s basically a scam at this point. The developer keeps selling pipe dreams while pocketing the buyers' money, and god knows what they're actually doing. Every update is just a half-hearted, perfunctory effort.

I suspect this game is a fraudulent product. I strongly suggest that Steam delist this game immediately and refund all the developer's ill-gotten gains to the buyers.

This game has so many game ruining issues.

I like the concept, but I will not return to this or suggest it until these are resolved. Gameplay for gameplay sake is fun, however, there are so many game ruining glitches that ruin progress. I've gotten so far only to get stuck in a wall. Literally stuck inside the wall of a building with no way out other than to suicide your character losing all items in the inventory that you may have worked so hard to accumulate. With it not being easy to find items, but so easy to lose them because of a glitch and not through intentional mechanics of the story, combat, environmental survival, etc...; it is very exhausting to have to start all over again to get where you were.

Items don't respawn as far as I'm aware of. When you die, or get stuck in a glitch in my case, the item is gone and you can make yourself whole no matter how much effort is put in. I will not return until this is fixed. This is the only issue that really bugs me.

It has happened two times after much progress. Once in the mine: I got stuck in the walls of the mine. Once in the house where you find an engine and battery in the detached garage: I got stuck in the wall upstairs in the laundry room. This has so much potential. I've seen this written by others. If you are going to charge people money for a game, hire a team of talented people to focus on this. Very disappointed. I only comment because this has so much potential.
