As much as I love the virtue of trial and error, for a puzzle game, Micron has done a better job at making me dumb than exercising my mind. Most of the levels forced me to pick up a guide or a walkthrough. The music is integrated into the puzzles, however, this feature does nothing, especially in levels were timing is required.

best brain trainer so far. 51 handmade levels. 12 bonus levels. 3.5hrs of joy (depends tho). i've got so much satisfation from solving puzzle on my own.

I love the puzzles in this game, but MAN the puzzles where the solution is "Slightly change the timing when the ball hits something" I can't wrap my head around ;-;
A fun little puzzle game with some challenging puzzles and that integrates music into the puzzle in a way I have not seen before. Redirect balls of different colors so that they hit various objects at the right place and the right time, while playing a little tune as you do it. Not too challenging until you get to later levels where you must build paths of the right length to time when balls hit, or break a path at just the right time to send balls to different locations in a specific order.

Micron is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs.
Micron is an unabashed, lazy ripoff of Deflexion/Khet (Copyright Innovention Toys, LLC, 2005). Many lazy "amateur" developers don't pay attention to their obligations under copyright law, and often steal the ideas of actual, real game developers without credit, such as the "developer" here has done. At this stage no legal action has been taken by Innovention Toys, LLC against the "developer" here, but it's never off the table, as previous copyright law cases have shown.
Putting aside the unethical intellectual bankruptcy of stealing someone else's game concept for profit, this is also breaking that unwritten law of stealing other people's game ideas... you should at least try to do better than the game you're ripping off. Micron is considerably worse than Deflexion/Khet.
Just like Khet, the game is played by arranging various blocks (in this case even less embellished than those in Khet) to reflect the course of "bouncing balls" which replace the laser in Khet's video game and physical variants. Create the correct path to "solve" each puzzle level and move on to the next one. There's also an annoying soundtrack that makes this mobile app significantly worse than Khet, which at least doesn't assault your ears.
From a technical perspective, as a mobile app, this doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision.
The mobile app features extremely lazy, minimalist "art", of the type you normally expect to see in low effort Flash/browser games and mobile apps. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing.
The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the mobile app unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts.
Because this is a mobile app, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the iPhones that the mobile app was designed for. These are unfortunate handicaps and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was an afterthought for the iPhone developers who are to blame for this. The mobile app is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for mobile phones forces upon a game. Once more, mobile devs have made gaming worse for everyone. I didn't spend thousands on building a gaming rig just so I could pretend it's an iPhone.
These technical defects push this mobile app below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
The mobile app never really caught on with the millions of gamers on Steam, with a very low peak player count close to launch, and then just a handful of players launching this mobile app every couple of days. This is undoubtedly caused by factors such as those raised in this review. It's always helpful with buying decisions to consider how popular and successful the product is, and unfortunately while this did accumulate a few participation trophy reviews, overall, people just aren't using it.
So, should you buy this mobile app?
Once more we see greedy mobile devs trying to scam PC gamers. On Steam, this is $3 USD, on app stores, it's $1 USD. Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay THREE TIMES THE PRICE for a cheap mobile app just because it's been lazily dumped on Steam. This is unacceptable disrespect for PC gamers. Because this is a mobile app, is priced to insult and gouge PC gamers, and because of the other defects, it's impossible to recommend.

Well well well......for the asking price you can get a very good puzzler and I can think of only one other similar game that I can compare it to quality wise and price wise ( I don't know if these are even words)
You know, like a wise woman once said - Easy to learn hard to master - :) The game starts with very easy levels but some latter levels can get very tricky, I think the progression is handled well in this puzzler. Good music and sound, nice minimalistic design. Look, this game is a classic if you ask the puzzle fanatics sooooo .... buy it because you can't go wrong.

This has been sitting in my Steam library for ages, but I stumbled across it again after getting a Deck. It's a fun little puzzler, and works perfectly on it out of the box. The publisher should really submit it for validation, as it's well-suited to handheld play.

With over 60 (including bonus) levels it is well worth its 3 dollar price tag. It really exercises your brain and has steam workshop support for your and other peoples tracks!
Micron is a great puzzle game that fuses together multiple mechanics to create a flow of moving balls that are required to press a button behind a breakable door. The goal is simple, but challenging because each level has a pattern to it based on the size of the map. There are 51 main levels and 12 bonus for a total of 63 levels. All the achievements can easily be unlocked for 100% completion. Overall I found the game quite enjoyable and the further you progress the more difficult the levels become. You can have the right solution with perpendicular timing and still fail to solve the puzzle. That is why this game requires critical thinking and testing to figure out when to place certain walls or portals so that you can hit each switch and finish the puzzle correctly. Rate 8/10

The object of the game is to use a variety of game pieces (from simple, angled tiles to portals) to redirect pellets around the puzzle in order to breakthrough to a final switch to complete the level. In total there are 63 such levels, including 12 bonus levels that grant two additional achievements once completed. Most of the puzzles are solvable with just two or three minutes of thought, but some of them require a significant amount of planning and timing to work perfectly. And yes, you will have to reset your puzzle often enough.
Pros:
+ Simple game design (easy to understand)
+ Challenging but fun (learning curve is well balanced)
+ It's a rhythm game, so you are playing to some bops!

It's a $2.99 game at its regular price. I don't know how often it goes on sale, but even at $3 it's a worthwhile buy. I had fun playing it once.
Micron is a music driven puzzle game where you create music. Since there's no story, we're jumping straight into graphics.
Graphics:
Micron is a very minimalistic game, there's not much to talk about here, since it's all basically shapes on a colorful background. There's basically not much to talk about there, they do their job well enough.
Audio:
Since Micron is a music driven game, the music has to be decent and since you have influence you're sort of helping to create the tunes. Every time you do something it adds another note to the music and most of the tracks are pretty catchy, albeit nothing incredibly in depth.
Gameplay:
The basic gist of Micron is you try to guide notes from one part of the grid to another by placing stuff on a grid to move those notes around, which creates music. It's a rather simple puzzle game it's starts of pretty easy and fun and quickly becomes much more complex as you play and more. There's roughly 60 levels to go through and they increase in difficult over time.
A lot of the puzzles can actually be beaten if you listen into the music and honestly it's quite fun figuring out the pathing of where to place the paddles and if you mess up it's a quick reset so you can go back into solving without thinking too much about it.
I will say though I still feel there's a very small amount of puzzles and it would have been cool to see a few more really difficult ones and possibly a level creator, but since this is a port of a mobile game, I won't nag on it too much for that reason.
Verdict:
Micron is a fun little puzzle game, where you don't have to think about the story, just pick it up and solve puzzles. It's really fun and challenging and really cheap to boot, so if you want a fun little puzzle game, definitely check out Micron.

The puzzles are great and tough.
Perfect length and difficulty. The generated music in each stage sounded great. There's plenty of content for the price and 90+ community stages on steam workshop.
Nice little puzzle. There's a musical aspect to the game, but it's not a "rhythm game" where you need to input actions precisely to the beat: here you figure out how to place pieces on the board, and the background music evolves as you go.

총 레벨 개수는 63개이며, 난이도는 중간 정도로 무난하다. 레벨 중 절반 정도는 경로를 짠다고 해서 끝난 게 아니고, 타이밍에 맞추어 막대기를 배치해야 풀리는 레벨들이라 초반에 지루하다고 느낄 수 있는 레벨들보다는 약간 신박하다고 느꼈다. 게임 내 효과음이 괜찮아서 추천했다는 평이 많은데, 아쉽게도 나는 이 게임을 다른 노래 들으면서 하느라 이에 대한 평을 남길 수 없다......
결론적으로, 조금 오래된 퍼즐게임이긴 하지만 그래도 퍼즐게임으로써의 재미는 충분하다. 단순하고 값싼 게임을 좋아하면 한번 사서 해보도록 하자.

The puzzles for Micron are well done, with the gradual increase in difficulty done very well. There are a few optional levels when you play through the game’s main levels and there are a few extra levels available to try after you complete the main levels. If that’s not enough, there’s always the addition puzzles available in the Steam Workshop.
Another thing that I would like to point out is while you’re working to solve the puzzles, music will start playing, but it starts with little instruments and notes playing. As you add bumpers, or pieces, to the puzzle and it starts to interact, more instruments start to play and when you’ve solved it, it feels like you put together a nice audio track.

In each level, you are given a set number of bumpers, or pieces, to use in solving the puzzle. If you made a mistake, you have a reset button available to restart the level and try again. If you want to remove one, but not all the pieces, tough luck, because there’s only the reset button and that’s it. I suppose this is made to ensure that the game isn’t completely easy, but it feels like some of these puzzles can be solved by removing one piece.

Micron is set-up to be played with either a mouse, a keyboard or a controller. After playing through the game with the mouse, I felt it was unnecessary for the developers to set-up keyboard and controller options. Main reason for saying this is because it feels much easier to play the game with the mouse.
Micron checks a number of boxes for me: Gameplay, check; Sound, check; Price, check. There’s no surprise for me to make a good recommendation for this game.
Very nice game
The puzzles for the most part are simple. There are some fairly challenging ones, but the thing that really makes this game is the overall atmosphere and aesthetic. There's something very satisfying about watching your puzzle solution play out, the hypnotizing motion of the projectiles on the screen, the rhythmic, sometimes chaotic music.

Guide round thingies via mirrors-deflectors to the target wall. Simple concept, seen it in the past, some nice variations and fresh elements that are introduced as you progress. The implementation of the event-triggered music is a major part of what got me into and hooked onto this game. The puzzle mechanics are simple yet challenging, and the musical payoff keeps you enagaged throughout.
Micron is a charming minimal puzzle game. The game consists of a sequence of small puzzles involving balls bouncing around the screen. The goal is to place the barriers in such a way that a ball gets into the exit. The puzzles range from easy to appropriately challenging, with 51 puzzles in the main game and 12 bonus challenges. New concepts are introduced slowly and build on previous concepts, allowing you to master one thing at a time. Completing the game takes a few hours in total, and overall the puzzles are medium difficulty.
What really stands out, however, is the use of music and rhythm. Every puzzle mechanic is synchronized with the music: at the basic level the balls are created once every 8 beats, playing a tone, and then as they interact with the objects you place they produce tones and variations in the music. It is hard to describe why, but this really completes the game experience. In effect, you are solving the puzzle and composing a rhythmic music pattern at the same time.
The levels are color-coded -- most mechanics are specific to a certain color, and each color has its own music track and tones. This way the music does not get monotonous and continues to be satisfying. I also appreciated that the bonus levels were gimmicky and fun, rather than trying to be too difficult or complicated.
Overall, I highly recommend Micron. The puzzle design is good, but the musical synchronization makes it a unique gem.

Very nice blend of generative music and puzzles. Nice to see a music game that isn't a note reading exercise. I wish the levels were bigger though, that they transformed into more layers or similar. Right now, at least for easy levels, you get an abrubt break in the nice music the game and the puzzle solution is creating.
It's alright, pleasant casual puzzler, nothing toooo taxing if you're into puzzle games, 79p in steam sale, can't complain. Workshop support so some life left in it yet.

TLDR: Niche type of game in which you place tiles to object route a ball towards a goal. I found it to be restrictive and boring despite the good audio due to emphasis on strict puzzles.
This is an object routing game - using a hex grid - in which you deviate the movement of a ball to have it reach an exit point. The options menu is very limited. Game fullscreens correctly. Xbox 360 pad detected correctly. If this was mobile its ported mostly competently. Aesthetics are simple but clean and effective. Sound design is surprisingly good despite its simplicity.
This is not a music game or a rhythm game. But what sets it apart as a puzzle game is how the sound effects for the ball and the routing tiles end up making a sort of a song sometimes, and are mostly pleasing to the ear even when they do not. Which is why I have decided to put it in the Casual - Music category rather than the Casual - Object Routing one.
I only played the initial few levels to assess the worth of the title so I cannot comment on the complexity of the puzzles. The initial ones were fairly simple.
Conclusion : Between the Xbox pad support, the vibration of the pad in synch with the sound effects, and the overall feeling of rhythm that the game uses to stay dynamic and interesting. You can tell there is a legitimate attempt to make a good game here but it just is not my cup of tea.

Some games have levels that look like they were pulled out of a random level generator.
But this, my friend, is game design done right. So right that it brings a tear to my eye and chills down my spine.
When I am on my dying bed thinking about the few regrets that I had in my life, I will say, "At least I played Micron."
Micron is masterfully done puzzle game with beautiful music and sound effects that really bring you into the experience. Guide at least one micron to the final exit, to complete each level while listening to the effect your placements have on the music.
This game was quite fun. New mechanics are introduced from time to time, and they have you master those before bringing in a new mechanic. When your microns 'hit' objects, they produce a sound effect that meshes directly into the background music. Musically inclined players will get hints in the harder levels if they are on the right track as the effects will confirm their ideas with proper inclusion in the background music.
Sound: The background music is very relaxing and is conducive to puzzle solving. Combined with the sound effects as your actions affect the microns, it's a very well done auditory experience.
Graphics: Simple and elegant. Nothing overly elaborate, but again, unneeded for this type of game. Colorblindness was not an issue for me with the red/green in the game, so they must have been far enough apart.
Gameplay: Simplistic and easy, when using the mouse. I tried with the controller which it supports but the d-pad movement is too fast, and the analog is a bit slippery. Could be my controller. Keyboard mouse was much easier for this. Difficulty doesn't scale too quickly and you have 51 primary levels to beat. Beat those and there are an additional 12 levels to bang your head against.... while enjoying the music.
Overall: 7.3/10 - If you like puzzle/logic games, this is a definite must have. Challenging in the later levels, and may take a few tries to really get it, but you will get there eventually. Price tag of $5 isn't too bad for what it is. Personally I like discounts and this has been in several bundles. Will likely reappear in one, so if you see it there, be sure to grab it. Or just pay for it. If you get a coupon for 50% most people won't complain over that price tag for what the game is.

Emerging from the fuzzy morning brain I grabbed a hot cup of java and slipped into this light and esthetic puzzle experience. Toe tapping to gentle ‘chillout house music’, I choreographed bouncing balls in 2D Minimalist geometric mazes and helped them ‘exit’ to the next levels. Sixty-three puzzles, six hours, 6 minutes a puzzle: Nice.

「発射された球の方向を変えて、時にはギミックを攻略しゴールに導くパズルゲーム」というシステム自体は割とありがちなもの。
個人的に高評価なのはBGMの方で、トランスやチルアウトのような綺麗なサウンドが多いのだが、球が反射したりスイッチを押すたびに新たな音が生まれ、少しずつBGMの雰囲気が変わっていくのは面白いシステムだと思う。
値段に対して問題量が少し少ないかなとは思うが、決して問題の質が悪い訳でもないのでワンコインとしては充分の出来。
あ、でも詰まっちゃうと1問に20分くらい掛かったりしたので、パズルが苦手は控えた方が良いかもしれません。

A very fun and interesting puzzle game. For the most part, the difficulty is appropriate. Some levels are pretty simple while others can be pretty challenging. But my favorite aspect of this game is how the music and sound effects all tie together... the ambience it all gives is relaxing and enjoyable. Honestly, my only complaint is that I don't get to listen to the music long enough for the shorter/simpler levels.
Definitely worth the investment.

Короткая, на 60+ уровней головоломка, где нам предстоит управлять "пульками-шариками" в замкнутом пространстве "тетради в клеточку", посредством вертикальных, горизонтальных и наклонных плоскостей, а также 2 телепортов. Основные уровни головоломки страдают казуальностью, зато бонусные заставят поднапрячься. Цветовая гамма заднего фона радует глаз и позволяет акцентироваться на решении задачи. Сделано со вкусом, с некоторым закосом на пиксельарт, вцелом - сделано на совесть.

Great little puzzle game that doesn't overstay its welcome. (3hrs to complete the main game minus bonus levels)
+ liked the minimalistic approach to music. It felt just right.
+ oveall pixel-y design is very serviceable, doesn't feel bare
+ level editor for moar levels
- not a big fan of precise timing required for some levels (just a handful, though)
- not a big fan of having to reset a level if you misclicked in placing a piece
However, I completely understand both "-" as valid gamedesign decisions, which make this game "not another game with lasers". For the sale price, I've had zero regrets and pleasant time.

Micron is a straight-forward puzzler with simple graphics and decent sounds. Early levels are easy and the complexity progressively gets more difficult as one would expect. There is little to confuse the player; it is just problem solving with a small set of variables. The music is timed to parallel on-screen activity, providing a neat effect. The interface is clear and fast. I look forward to more challenging levels. 8/10
What a pleasant little distraction for the last couple of days.
To look at it from the outside, it's a faily standard switch-pressing puzzler of which there have been quite a few. However, Micron stands apart in a couple of ways:
1. It doesn't get stupidly hard (see caveat below)
2. It doesn't go on longer than it should
3. Each level doesn't take too long to complete
Most games of this time get to a point, and it's clear the developer's been holding back some painfully hard levels, and has run out of 'ramp up' levels, and all of a sudden drops you off a cliff. You're sitting there looking a level thinking "The last level took me 2 minutes, and I've been staring at this for more than 20. What happened?" (I'm looking at you P.B. Winterbottom amongst others). This doesn't happen in Micron... The levels are iteratively harder, and many of the 'nice interlude' levels (as I think of them) give you a strong hint as to what the twist in the upcoming level is going to be, while being pretty easy in themselves.
There are some strategies you learn, and sometimes you just look at a level, the selection of pieces and it all just clicks.
Okay, here comes the caveat. There are a couple of levels which require you to do something a tad differently to the levels around them: Bonus 9 comes to mind. For those, there was no choice but to go have a look at a hint. Every permutation I tried just wouldn't work. In those cases, it's usually because you need to do something with precision timing, and Ijust hadn't experimented enough.
I like the little tricks it plays with your assumptions on colours, and the ways it makes you think about stretching 'flight time' to synchronise events.
The game would have only taken me one evening to finish, if I'd played it in one sitting. All in all, I think about 3 hours of playtime, which was perfect.
For a quid or two, a nice little puzzler, perfect for a plane flight, train ride, or just whiling away a little time with a cup of tea.
Fun little puzzler, although in later stages a little obtuse.
Un concept simple mais bien exploité, on se prend vite au jeu.
Relaxing, enjoyable and rewarding. Definitely of the best puzzle games on steam. The minimalistic music works well and helps to absorb you into the game. The main game is a bit short, but the steam workshop allows you to play user created levels, or create your own.
Some of the later levels are quite difficult if you don't examine the puzzle close enough. Stop and think. Backwards deduction helps. Even then you will miss things and may get stuck. If you want a real challenge try the player created content, some of it is insane!
Thumbs up. A very good purchase when it is on sale.

Für alle die gerne krübbeln ist Micron das richtige Spiel!
Petit jeu pas cher mais fort sympatique. La difficulté n'est pas trop au rendez-vous, mais l'ensemble est plaisant. C'est surtout beau à voir et à entendre.

I don't know if I'd recommend it for $5, but on sale, yeah.
It took me the time that I have in it to 100% (but I used some hints).
Count on about 3 hours of game, which includes some getting stuck.

A decent puzzle game where you have to route balls/light pulses to buttons and eventually a goal. Each ball triggers a note or musical segment. The puzzles eventually become quite challenging. It engaged me enough to complete the game, so I have to give it credit there. The graphics are extremely simplistic as is the sound/music, but neither are bad in any regard. Rather, they're quite fitting for the game. If you like puzzle games, this one is probably worth a try, especially if you can grab it on a sale. 7/10
