It sparked my mana, would recommend.

Also some partial spoilers and things to mention
- Mana Spark is decent for its price and incredible on sale.

Why?
- it is now long, interesting, and challenging enough to warrant enough gameplay for what you pay
- it is fun to exploit the systems of the game (some items interact with the games mechanics in exploitable ways that are fun for a player like myself)
- the starting character remaining still for a second when they fire means you have to be careful with how you play (but a mention that your character has strong bolts but remains still when firing is warranted so the player doesn't feel cheated when they take hits in those moments)

Some things I'd really like improved that would greatly improve the gameplay (minor spoilers)
- the charge shot skill is sadly useless as you can just fire twice in the time it takes to charge up a 2x damage shot (which means stunning an enemy twice and being able to reposition between shots which is far far better)

I would fix this by changing the charge up time from 2 seconds to 1.5 or even 1.3 seconds and increasing the rune price of the skill. Difficult games require players to make intelligent decisions and the right decision should be how you use a skill rather than not using it at all if a game is well designed.

- I would nerf the clever stone ram, as I found it led to me winning exchanges I should have lost. After taking a hit I can kill three of the petrified enemies and repeat whenever I get hit (essentially making me impossible to kill).

I would fix this by changing the flawless kills requirement from 3 to at least 5, especially considering plenty of enemies (goblats, bats, spiders, etc.) are essentially free kills. Elsewise, a better slightly more complex fix might be to change the item to only count unpetrified kills "Clever Stone Ram, grants a petrified stone for every three unpetrified enemies killed". It is also very fun to be overpowered and the idea behind the item is awesome, I always love seeing it in the peculiar rooms, so it may be alright to have one op item though I still think it would be even with a nerf.

Enemy AI. Having the enemies fight together intelligently is great. Some enemies on their own can still become useless because of their behaviour. The electricky guy that runs away usually gets stuck in a corner, and is trivial to fight when that happens. A good quick fix would be to make the projectiles it shoots impossible to shoot down so a player can't just repeatedly shoot in the same direction and win. It should also reuse its electric circle power periodically rather than just once. Elite enemies in challenge rooms (besides the elite guard shield lad person) I felt were very easy to exploit with fast attacks, giving them some stagger immunity could be a good idea in general.

Asides from mechanics, the story of the game is quite solid and the ideas behind how its presented are serviceable. Despite this, the actual writing itself felt a little poor and characterless. For example, a character might say "I need 2 cactuses to unlock the cactus farm" in this game instead of "If i just had a couple cactuses I could easily restart my uncle's cactus farm!" whilst the latter is not going to win me any awards it's clear that there is much more emotion and characterisation being conveyed than there is in the former example, and I really love the idea and presentation of the mana spark world.

Quicker ones
- the hit stop can make the game feel sluggish when hitting enemies very fast, an option to turn it off or halve it would be appreciated
- i really like the monster meat design and am just now getting it's a reference to Don't Starve :D, giving the player heaps of long term advantage in plenty of health but also lots of early risk by damaging is a quintessential idea in roguelikes (not a criticim obviously, just thought I'd say that).

Overall i really like this game and it's well worth getting on sale. The art is good, the challenge is fun, the randomness make each run a bit unique. For the joy alone of bullseyeing a skeleton between its eyes even though 90% of its body is covered by its shield (i don't know if this was intended but it is very funny) why not give it a try?

I loved Nova Lands and decided to check this out. Mana Spark is a fun game. It's scope is much smaller than a game like Issac or Neon Chrome. There aren't as many items, environments or variety in enemies. I myself appreciate the focused scope of the game though. I feel like the developer made extra sure that the content they could include was impactful and didn't have any filler.

The gameplay is fun and responsive. I don't ever recall feeling like I died to "some bs". The characters are varied in their playstyle which adds some replay value. The items and how they work together are fun, but you won't be spending 40+ hours working on combos. The game isn't huge. What is included though is quite good.

With the game not having much content I feel like $12 might be a bit high of a price. I personally think it's worth it, but with games like Issac being $15 with literally 10x the content, this can be a hard sell. Thankfully the game is often on sale.

If there's one thing this game does well it's sound design. The sound design in this game is INSANELY good and it ties the experience of the game together. A lot of care went into all the atmospheric sound effects here, that stuff isn't easy.

Relatively short and fun, and equally cheap; Not a ton to unlock, and the unlocks are relatively quick (or small puzzles). The story is kinda neat, though not particularly fleshed out or ground-breaking. Sound design and monster types are pretty basic but nice enough, though you'll start to feel the limitations pretty quickly (especially the first two bosses).

Definitely not for everyone though, it's brutally unforgiving of even the smallest of mistakes in the second half; Some monsters can hit for as much as 3 full hearts of damage, in a game where you might only be starting with 2 total, can't get more than 1-2 more per item, and many of the items that increase your offense actually DECREASE your max hp. I managed to beat it with a max hp of like 5, so it's hardly impossible, but... I've also only beaten it precisely one time, using the character that has lots of pets to deal damage for her. Third boss second phase is... frustrating, because it's tanky and deals incredible damage with very short windows of opportunity to fight back for two of the four classes.

Definitely no game of the year, but a competent game that I still had like 20 hours of fun with, and seems worth supporting a small developer.

Tl;dr: Small indie gem that is a bit rough around the edges but is worth playing if you are into rogue-lites/likes, especially if it is on sale.

The good:
- Room randomisation and itemisation make it so it's different enough each run so that it doesn't get too boring too quickly.
- Enemies are interesting enough and have patterns you need to learn to counter.
- There is some variety in the characters you can play.
- Has a nice replay feature which allows for gif saving.

The not so good:
- UI and menus need some polish as right now they feel a bit like they were plastered on at the last minute.
- Some of the NPC/playable character unlocking felt a bit rushed for me.
- If things align, some enemies + level layouts can feel unfair as you don't have an easy way to mitigate/avoid the damage.
- The variety in character design is slightly samey.

I'd rate this one 7.5/10. The two devs did a decent job but the game could benefit from some improvements to make it truly shine.

Tenho enormes suspeitas que o jogo traz algum malware. PC tava rodando tranquilamente e pouco depois de ter instalado começou a ter uns picos de uso de CPU. Adoraria oferecer alguma informação mais precisa, mas não manjo de softwares.

Se não for culpa do jogo, é um 6/10 da vida. Ninguém deve passar de umas 7 horas jogando e é melhor comprar Enter The Gungeon visto a falta de variedade.

Top down roguelike with some random generated levels. Explore, collect and fight different enemies and such (usual roguelike). Shooting is more about precision and good aiming if you miss you lose your precious hit. Some foes have features or other equipment that block your arrows so keep aiming where they're vulnarable. Torches can be extinguished giving you element of surprise. Save game at campsites - generally mini souls like experience. Gameplay is good but controls are better with keyboard and mouse IMO. As you travel you gonna find various items that grant random perks and other support. Some items can be bought using coins (only shop rooms). You can fast travel to visited rooms on your map. Visuals are simplified and very pixelated. Music is decent and I like it. For the most part gameplay is good. Game have coop support which will give you an edge because difficulty might be troublesome for some. Ok game if you're looking for another mini souls like experience or roguelike.

The game is really good, while it will take some time to get used to each of the characters weapons and how to use their abilites never mind the sacrifical sections in way to benefit your self.

Other then that the only real bad thing I can say about it is that the devs fails to update the page regularly so that one can know that the game right now have local co-op for example (although it would great if one could play online multiplayer with other people)

Conheci o jogo por curiosidade depois de vê-lo no grupo do clube de jogos, me chamou atenção o visual em pixel-art e aproveitei uma promoção.

A história é simples: humanos sem mana são escravizados, até que um grupo se rebela. Mas ninguém vai jogar isso pelo enredo, então vamos ao que interessa – a gameplay.

No estilo roguelike clássico, você explora dungeons geradas proceduralmente, enfrentando monstros e ativando alavancas pra prosseguir. Há variedade de personagens, cada um com seu estilo de combate: o caçador equilibrado, a guarda veloz, a botânica com bumerangue e um cachorro, e o guerreiro tanque com escudo. O combate se destaca por exigir mira precisa – acertar pontos fracos faz toda a diferença, e posicionamento é essencial.

Além disso, o jogo tem mecânicas criativas: itens como a granada congelante (super útil, mas arriscada), interações com o cenário e inimigos que reagem de formas únicas aos seus ataques. O combate é realmente o ponto forte de Mana Spark – engenhoso, tático e surpreendente para um jogo de visual simples.

Mas aí vem os problemas. A base do jogo, um acampamento que vai sendo expandido, acaba caindo em redundâncias: poucas receitas realmente úteis, um item ativo muito superior aos demais, e NPCs que perdem relevância rápido. E aí tem os bugs: congelamento e petrificação que se anulam, chefões que travam e perdem graça, e habilidades que às vezes ativam sozinhas. Isso tudo prejudica o senso de mérito na vitória, um velho problema meu com roguelikes.

A frustração aparece especialmente nos chefões mais fortes, que têm HP exagerado e forçam builds específicas. Ainda gosto da criatividade no combate, mas ela contrasta com escolhas de design que cansam nas tentativas repetidas. No fim, recomendo Mana Spark sim, apesar dos pesares. É um jogo brasileiro criativo, com boas ideias, mesmo que tropece em execução. Só não digam que não foram avisados.

Este juego es uno de esos juegos que, si pudiera, le daria un "meh". No es tan malo como para no recomendarlo pero tampoco es tan bueno como para poder recomendarlo al 100%, este juego solo lo recomendaria si lo ves de oferta (2€ me costo) y quieres un juego sin mas pretensiones que probar algo distinto, echar un rato y poco mas.

Tambien mencionar que algo que ha podido afectar a mi perspectiva del juego ha sido que en mi 3º o 4º run he llegado al boss final (el cual me mató por lo que considero un bug visual) cosa que mató gran parte de mi interes por el juego.

Mana Spark es un rogue like muy pequeño y bastante mediocre en cuanto a diseño e ideas, es un rogue like tipico con una progresión inspirada en Dead Cells, en la cual iremos recogiendo "runas" de algunos enemigos caidos las cuales podremos guardar en un cofre en los puntos de control y esas runas nos serviran luego para mejorar el campamento y obtener ciertas mejoras. Mejoras, las cuales, son poco interesantes en su mayoria.

En cuanto a gameplay, hay varios personajes y, aunque el combate se siente bien en general y es divertido con todos ellos a la larga puede llegar a ser repetitivo ya que al ser pequeño y tener poco contenido y poca variedad sentiremos que estamos luchando contra los mismos monstruos una y otra vez. Sobre las mejoras y objetos secundarios que iremos encontrando pasa algo parecido, hay muy pocos y tampoco son demasiado interesantes (la mayoria son simplemente mejores stats), el juego tampoco ofrece ningun sistema de reroll por lo que tampoco tendremos margen para decidir que build seguir (aunque tampoco tiene contenido como para ofrecer variedad en ese aspecto) Por ultimo los niveles son poco interesantes, mas alla de un objeto cada 2-3 pisos.. no hay nada, ni eventos, ni cofres, ni exploracion.. los niveles son niveles vacios donde deberemos buscar una palanca para abrir la puerta y seguir bajando y ya.

Conclusión: Lo dicho, si te sientes con ganas de jugar y probar algo "nuevo" o distinto y echar un rato... por el precio al que puede llegar en rebajas o bundles (2€) no esta mal, pero recomendarlo como juego al que jugar como tal.. no puedo.

I normally dont like these repetitive start from the beginning every time games but this is quite simple and fun. Nice basic pixel art style and movement/fighting feels very good.

Depois de dar final com todos os personagens, hora da análise.

Mana Spark é um Dungeon Crawler bem divertido e que surpreendeu.
Depois que você pega o jeito, fica bem mais fácil.... mas no começo é morte atrás de morte.
Seguem os pontos positivos e negativos do jogo:

+ 4 Personagens jogáveis;
+ Grande quantidade de itens de fortalecimento;
+ Várias opções de itens de apoio no acampamento;
+ Exploração recompensada (quase obrigatória eu diria);
+ Inimigos interessantes;

- História fraca, podia ter sido bem melhor;

No todo, é um bom jogo. RECOMENDO.

The developer has revoked a batch of keys sold to Humble Bundle, which I was directly affected by.

Despite paying for a bundle that included it 4 years ago while having no use for the key, as I already owned the game, I found an opportunity of sending it to a friend, who reported it was "already used".

After contacting Steam support directly about the key, I was told "The CD Key for this game has been revoked by the game publisher. This can happen when a batch of keys are stolen, or perhaps the key was for a beta game that has shipped and you'll need to purchase it."

̶H̶u̶m̶b̶l̶e̶ ̶B̶u̶n̶d̶l̶e̶ ̶r̶e̶f̶u̶s̶e̶d̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶r̶e̶p̶l̶a̶c̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶k̶e̶y̶,̶ and so my only resort is to call out the developers for this shady behaviour publicly.

The developers, as far as I know, have already been paid by Humble Bundle (and the customers) for the bundle's inclusion of their game, which gives them ZERO legitimacy in revoking the keys that they chose to sell. The key at no point had an advertised expiration date.

This type of behaviour from an alarmingly increasing number of developers should be shunned, frowned upon, and actively rallied against. Once you buy something, you own it, period.

As such, BEHEMUTT should be boycotted for their shady behaviour. I know for a fact I wasn't the only person affected. Don't let them win.

UPDATE: Humble support sent me a new, working key. This review will stay up, as this is entirely the developer/publisher's responsibility.

游戏初玩还不错。不过时间长了就能发现内容过于重复。
总之就是一款刷子迷宫游戏，玩家一路向下杀穿地下城。

角色有四个：追求精确射击的弓手，像猎空一样闪避的弩手，养宝宝的豢养师，以及大盾战士。弓手是默认角色，弩手打完第一个BOSS可以解锁，豢养师要做一个小任务，战士要解决谜题。都是前期可以获得的。

地图共15张，包括4个商店房间、3个BOSS房间，8个普通地下城。
地下城分三种：2层野树林，3层地下通道，3层实验室。除开始和末尾外，基本上一个地下城一个商店房一个地下城一个BOSS房这样。
三个BOSS分别是：图书馆里的大眼怪，火炕里的巨龙（头），制造怪物的邪恶魔法师。最后一个我没打过。

不同角色有不一样的攻击力和特殊技，这个不必说。
另外随着楼层的推进，基地会进来不一样的人，为角色提供升级：
其一是饭菜，可以提供不同的能力提升；
其二是陷阱，可以提供不同的主动道具;
其三是图鉴，可以解锁不同的怪物，并选定某个降低其威胁度；
其四是老人，可以传授一个特殊技，每个职业一个；
其五是祭坛，可以永久性绑定一个被动道具。

游戏中的被动道具大概有50个，包括提高血量、召唤恶魔、增加攻击力等等。只在这一局有效。
最觉的是在迷宫的各自可以激活；
在商店房间可以用金币购买，从随机的三个里面选；
有时迷宫里会有小BOSS房间，挑战成功可以二选一；
有特殊的房间，需将血量降到一血才能挑战，会出现数波怪物，挑战成功后可以从现在有被动道具中选择一个与角色绑定。

The game is not the best at balancing, but is an interesting challenge. And gave me vibes like Wizard of Legends (which I loved). However It's a bit rough, specially in controls (you can't react in certain moments), but overall it was a good experience, both in gameplay and worldbuilding. I had two major problems while playing it though:
1. Performance during the final boss. An endless number of enemies are spawned in groups of 1 to 4, and if you don't have a lot of damage to kill the boss fast, the corpses and swords that those enemies throw will leave the whole screen filled with visual garbage that will affect the performance HEAVILY.

2. I died right after killing bosses. Twice. The first time when I beated the first boss (which hurts). But the second one hurted more, since it was after the final boss, so I don't know how the game ends yet, but I have the achievement. The worst part was that after final boss the game took control and I though: Oh, a cutscene where I can't do anything. I remove the hands from the keyboard and then it throws me right back to the fight were there was one summoned enemy remaining which attacks and kills me without any warning.

This game is only for people who:

A: Like pixel graphics
B: Like an unforgiving hardcore roguelike experience

This game was very difficult to play/navigate. Your dash is very quick/short and the recovery frames are brutal. On top of that, enemies can also dash after they run to your location. They also have shields and collision detection. You cannot dash through enemies. This is brutal considering many of these levels are -tight- and hallways can get blocked by the bad guys.

Lots of RNG for levels which is great, but lots of deads ends that feel like a waste of space. Quite often you'll find yourself at the first 'store' with zero gold, which is insane considering the first ability costs just 1 gold. At least make the first one free if you're gonna RNG the starting gold that intensely.

Also found it annoying you could only have 1 'powerup' per merchant in town despite that they all offer a plethora of choices to spend your runes on.

There are definitely more fun roguelike games out there, this one is rough.

É com muita dor no coração que negativo um projeto com uma capacidade tão promissora. Mana Spark, um projeto nacional, é um jogo de temática Roguelike (O que vou criticar e muito durante essa review), sua arte feita em Pixels possui um visual agradável, possuindo uma boa trilha sonora e uma jogabilidade muita boa, sendo de primeira vista aquele jogo que te faz pensar "Que jogo incrível, como ainda não tinha ouvido dizer sobre ele?", porém o jogo peca de diversas formas, seja em sua repetitividade de inimigos ou até mais grave como a progressão de campanha (se é que existe uma). Uma coisa bem interessante a principio foi a geração aleatórias de cenários o que me pareceu algo bom, mas isso até descobrir que SEMPRE ao morrer você ira perder absolutamente tudo.
- Conseguiu algumas habilidade após matar um "Boss opcional", mas morreu?.
- Jogo: F0da-se?
- Conseguiu algumas Moedas e Orbes após matar todos os inimigos do andar?
- Jogo: F0da-se?
Ou seja, ira perder qualquer coisa que conseguir encontrar. O jogo sequer tem Checkpoints, tive que matar o Boss inicial da biblioteca umas 7 vezes, sem exagero. Não possui um sistema de progressão e recompensa, você sempre será fraco e voltará do inicio, e não é como se tivesse como voltar e pegar suas coisas de volta, pois os andares são gerados de forma aleatória.
Como disse após morrer voltamos a nosso acampamento inicial, onde conseguimos evoluir habilidades especiais e até enfraquecer monstros através de compras de pesquisas. O mais ridículo de isso tudo é que mesmo que faça a pesquisa de todos os monstros só podemos escolher um para se enfraquecer...
O personagem jogável mais fraco é a Guarda, sua vida é menor em comparação aos demais personagens, e não temos um inventario no jogo para curarmos, caso receba algum dano reze para que algum monstro drop cura e não receba algum dano no caminho. Com dois hits morre, e é todo andar que encontrará cura.

Conclusão finais: Jogo promissor com falta de mecânicas fundamentais para manter o player jogando, caso não fosse do gênero Roguelike acredito que o sucesso seria maior.

resolvi comprar o jogo, joguei um pouco, em questão de 8 horas de jogo eu já conseguia zerar e montar umas builds daora

Acho que da pra definir o Mana Spark como um jogo simples porém muito divertido.
Vc não vai encontrar uma centena de personagens, equipamentos e fases super variadas. Mas isso não é um ponto negativo! Ele é bem executado e funciona muito bem com o conteúdo que trás. O combate é gostoso e apesar das fases não variarem tanto, nessas 5h de gameplay, ele não me cansou nenhum pouco. Então está mais que recomendado!

Jogo muito bom e cativante, jogabilidade uma delicia e cada personagem tem seu jeito. Á um único adendo que poderiam corrigir, no boss final do game, ele fica invocando monstros e se tu mata ele invoca mais, e os corpos deles vão acumulando. Isso faz o jogo começar a lagar muito e eu quase morro só por isso e não pela dificuldade em sí.

Fora essa a questão é um excelente jogo. Recomendo fortemente.
