This game looks like someone watched The Secret of N.I.M.H. high on acid and said "Yooo what if... "

This is what I pictured in my mind when I read the tale of desperaux.

It feels like a little mix of Oddworld and Secret of Nimh. It’s basically a poor man's Trine.

I'm so proud there's a game with such an important endangered animal as the main character! Macrotis starts with a terrible, torrential downpour that ends up flooding the home of an adorable bilby family. Poor Mother Bilby is helpless to save her children as she’s swept away by the raging waters. After washing up somewhere underground, all she knows is that she has to head upwards to find her children and reunite her family.

It is a little sad. But it's also a sweet and beautiful game too. The game’s story may be simple, but it’s surprisingly sweet and moving. Told through in-game dialogue and narrated stills, you really start to feel for Mother Bilby. It’s a pleasant surprise, as most platformers don’t end up giving you all the feels. As a father myself the premise really hit hard.

it has a bit of an old-ish school feel to the mechanics and controls. The game starts off pretty simple , you can move left and right, push certain objects, bite through ropes, jump, catch onto ledges to pull yourself to new platforms, and even do a fun wall jump. The first couple of puzzles are fairly simple, mostly involving pushing small logs or stones to reach ledges that are just out of reach. The puzzles quickly grow much more complex and challenging from there on. You’ll need to push blocks into small bodies of water to adjust the water levels so that logs float higher, allowing you to move objects across them. Sometimes you’ll have to keep moving through what feels like a small obstacle course to keep up with a turtle, which helps you navigate across water, since Momma Bilby can’t swim.

The art style of Macrotis is wonderfully charming. The surface of the water is just amazing. My eyes could’ve stared at it for a loooong time. A lot of the details were so great. The stills are done in sepia, and do a great job of adding more depth to the narrative. Momma Bilby herself is absolutely adorable, and her voice-acting is just spot-on. The color palette of the different levels is absolutely gorgeous. It’s not often that you see a game with such bold and intense color choices pull it off so well.

Although a bit short, it’s not often that you find a platformer with a lot of heart. The wonderful artwork, challenging and unique puzzles, and surprisingly moving story will keep you hooked on playing. If you need something short and sweet, give Macrotis: A Mother’s Journey a try.

atmosferik sunum ve bulmaca çeşitliliği süper. Vaatlerini yerine getiriyor. Eklentiler yerine asıl derdini anlatmaya odaklanması doğru bir tercih. Bulmacaların temel parçası küpü yavaş yavaş sağa sola çekme işi biraz hantal ve oynanışı durağanlaştırıyor. Karakterin yapısından, özelliklerinden böyle olması mantıklı bir açıklama fakat bu 2. chapter sonrası eklenen özelliklerin yanında bunu hızlandırma da eklenebilirdi. Hikaye, sunum, bulmaca, atmosfer ve sanat tasarımı gayet iyi. pek fazla eksi yazacak bir durum yok ama artılar da güçsüz.

A great puzzle game with breathtaking graphics and interesting lore... Every puzzle is just the right difficulty and satisfying to solve. The game also won't eat much of your time and can be completed within a few hours but people who want more of a challenge can try completing all of the achievements and getting all the collectables. My only criticism is that despite the game not being designed for agile movement, there are still time-based puzzles. Nevertheless, it isn't something you can't get through with a few tries.

This game is not the worst thing I've played, but overall I still don't think it really deserves this positive review.
Considering the pricing, the positive aspects and the inability of leaving a neutral review I'm going with it. After all I completed 100% and don't really regret having played it, but I'm very much into this sort of game. If you're new to it there are several better options to get started with.

I personally dislike the graphics and colours but not too off-putting and I checked previews so not why I bought it and didn't bother me at all.
Cutscene artwork and soundtrack were actually great, especially the soundtrack!

Level design is not terrible but often unnecessarily complex, too many platforms that are absolutely pointless and not fun to explore either. Same thing about the scenery, too much detail put into the background and didn't find it stunning either.

While the plot is what you'd expect, I hated the voice acting and script and having to go through every single line again every time I made an irreversible mistake or got myself killed was painful.

Controls are unbalanced, some movements/actions are responsive and fast, others are clunky and slow. Took lots of fun out of the platforming.

List of skills/powers you acquire throughout the game is long which sounds great but it feels like the puzzle solving mechanics were poorly explored for each skill. Puzzles themselves are on the easy side and the latter ones just have too many steps instead of having grown harder and more creative. It's challenging enough but mostly due to the different ways of having to reset the puzzles. Checkpoints are not too unforgiving so never found it frustrating, but for a game with so many different actions/skills available the puzzle solving is just way too repetitive.

The last chapter felt rushed in some aspects, puzzles were disappointing and encountered a few bugs like:
-setting off the 3 crystals achievement after doing the 2nd one twice because I got myself killed;
-kept trying to gather energy or whatever from one of the crystal stands after it was already empty and setting off the same voice line;
-died for no apparent reason while moving boxes a couple of times.

Bittersweet story, absolutely horrible voice acting (I just turned the dialogue volume off and stuck to subtitles), appropriate music that doesn't drive the player insane, and an overall enjoyable game. The puzzles had a nice mix of easy and a bit more difficult. I think this would be a proper introduction to puzzle solving for a kid or young teen.

I played this game with a controller which I feel really helped make everything play more seamless. A few reviews mention some shotty controls, but I never really ran into that while using the controller. If you're just looking for a casual puzzle game that won't give you a headache, this will probably fit the bill.

Also the arachnophobia mode... I appreciated that. Lol.

Le jeu démarre très bien, dommage que les puzzles du chapitre 3 viennent tout gâcher.
De la difficulté juste pour principe d'être des puzzles long et difficile, sans vraie logique derrière et n'attendez pas d'explications ni indices/conseils de la part du jeu.

Et la traduction français c'est du mot à mot à la google trad' donc ça veut rien dire par moment.

I don't really know why, but this was such a bad game in my opinion. Only good thing about it was the fact that it was done in under 4 hours with 100% achievements, which btw was extremely easy to get.
There isn't anything really horrific about this game. Personally, I hated the graphics and found nothing cute about it, but that might just be me. The controls are a bit sluggish and odd, but I've tired worse. Somehow the movement seems off. At times its too fast and sometimes painfully slow, there is no balance at all. None of the mentioned things should make me dislike the game this much, but I really really don't like it. I think I was about 10-15 mins in when I started looking forward to the end. I played this over several times and had to force myself to finish it, I was simply that bored.

I feel bad about leaving a negative review when I can't pinpoint the reasons better, but it might just be the overall feeling of the game. I bought this game at a really good discount, but honestly I still feel like I wasted both money and time here, sigh.

I really liked playing this game a lot. The only minus thing about the game was that I couldn't change the controls because this game had to be played with the arrow keys that I'm not used at all (I played on PC). Also, some of the puzzles were a bit difficult but it just because I'm such a small brain :D So if you like puzzle games like ori and the blind forest (and btw these games are very similar to each other) and the keys don't matter then I recommend 👍

If you want to ruin a game, any game, simply add...
Timers.
Now if you are Proud Dinosaurs and really want to transmogrify your customers into ex-customers by making sure that not a drop of fun can be sucked out of your software:
- force them to wait in the middle of rushes;
- reduce maneuvers' time windows to their absolute minima;
- restart the entire long stretches upon death;
- or soft-lock the puzzles without killing them, until they accept that they must suicide.

I've rated games 0/10 for their stupid timers alone. I suppose I need to rate Macrotis with a negative number, to be fair to them.

fiyatı da şahsen uygun ve adamlar hadlerini fiyat seçerken gayet bilmişler gidip de haketmedikleri bir mevlayı yazmamışlar. oyuna fiyat performans olarak baktığımızda karşımızda gerçekten güzel bir oyun görüyoruz. grafikler güzel ve oynanış akıcı. hikaye gayet güzel dizayn edilmiş ve işleyişi de güzel. şahsen bence bu paraya kesinlikle alıp destek olunmalı ( her ne kadar geç kalınsa da) umarım yeni güzel yaptıkları şeyleri de oynarım. eksikleri tabikide var öyle bir şaheser beklemeyin misal oynanışda bazen animasyonlarda hata oynanışda özellikle kaplamalara atlamada hatalar tabiki de az çok bazenleri oluyo ya da oynadığım kadarıyla oynanışındaki hafif rahatsız edicilik zevkinizi biraz bozabiliyor. fakat dediğim gibi oyun güzel. mutlaka paranız varsa alın.

Hangi tuşun ne işe yaradığını 2 saat arayıp bulmanıza gerek kalmıyor. Grafikler oldukça tatminkar. Üzerinde çalışıldığı belli oluyor. Oyunun masalsı bir hikayesi var. Oyun içi bulmacaların zorluğu gayet iyi, 2 veya 3 denemede ne yapmanız gerektiğini hemen keşfediyorsunuz. Bulmacaları çözerken çok fazla aynı şeyleri tekrar ediyor hissini yaşamıyorsunuz.

Oyunun baş karakteri olan keseli tavşanın adı Billey. Oyunun görselleri gayet hoş hazırlanmış. Bulmacalar başta baya bir kolay olsa da oyun ilerledikçe bulmacalarda bir hayli zorlaşıyor. Bulmacalar zorlaşırken oyuncuyu kesinlikle sıkmıyor öncesinde ufak bir bulmacayla yeni bir mekanik öğretiyor, sonrasında diğer mekaniklerle harmanlanmış daha zor bir bulmacayla karşımıza çıkıyor. Büyücü ve Billy arasında ki sohbetler gayet hoş ve tatlı olmuş. Oyunun normal fiyatı 18,50 TL indirimde ise 12,95 'e düşüyor. Oynanış süresinden dolayı 18,50 vermek istemeyebilirsiniz ama 12,95 olduğunda kesinlikle almanızı tavsiye ederim.

Macrotis is a pretty decent puzzle platformer. The focus is squarely on the puzzling, the platformer is mostly very light apart from three timed sequences where you need to outun rising water / keep up with a swimming turtle. The level design is good, and although the puzzles aren't that difficult, the solution is never too obvious to become boring. Throughout the game you acquire additional skills which you need to solve the increasingly complex puzzles.

Expect about 4 to 5 hours of gameplay. The story is extremely sweet and non-violent, I had totally expected a few nasty plot twists here and there, for instance that the wizard would turn out to be evil or something, but no, Macrotis remains sweet right till the very end (so sweet it will give you diabetes!)

Macrotis: A Mother's Journey is a delightful journey of a mother Bilby trying to return to her 3 children after being separated from them during a massive flood. It is a fine first effort by Turkish Developers Proud Dinosaurs and has deservedly won some awards.
The raging waters carried Mrs Bilby deep underground and during her journey she meets a wizard who is willing to help her return home. However, they have to stop the rain first. Through supernatural powers endowed to her, she is able to leave her body and move through walls with her spirit self. It makes for interesting gameplay. She is able to push stones, eat roots, dig through walls and create walls.....aside from being an acrobatic jumper.
Gameplay is fairly simply, but you have to be pretty nimble at times to get through a couple of long obstacle courses pretty fast. I found the first 2 chapters much harder in the platforming area than the latter part of the game. The water course was particularly challenging. The latter part of the game was puzzle heavy where you had to use strategies to go from A to B. My brain really ached at times!
Graphics are bright and beautiful and the music creates a lovely peaceful ambience. Puzzles were very creative and although not overly hard, required some thinking. There was a backstory of an ancient race of little people which was interesting. I never got bored. I personally found the voiceovers quite good, but others didn't like them.
Experienced platformers will sail through this. I got all the achievements, but had to replay some chapters to find two missing ones which I discovered through a guide.
Some players may find this emotional as it highlights the love of a mother for her children and she will move mountains to find them again. Be sure to watch all the credits (which are short) as the story continues afterwards. I had no glitches with this game.
I look forward to another game from this developer. Strongly recommend for people who like non violent games and a heartwarming story. 8.5/10

Öncelikle yerli bir firmadan bu kadar başarılı bir yapım görmek beni çok mutlu etti. Grafikler aynı Hollow Knight da olduğu gibi ilk görüşte beni kendisine çekti. Hikaye olarak, yavrularına ulaşmaya çalışan bir anne keseli tavşan var ancak sadece onunla yetinmeyip farklı bir dünya yaratmışlar ve o dünya hakkında oyun boyunca sürekli oyuncuyu bilgilendiriyorlar. Bölüm tasarımları gayet başarılı. Hiç bir bölüm birbirine benzemiyor ve sadece bölüm geçmiş olmak için yapılmadığı belli. Üzerine düşünülerek hazırlanmış. Beautiful environments, some challenging puzzles and an interesting if somewhat unexpected story.
The slow introduction of the new abilities and their uses was well done and I especially enjoyed the Wall building ability in the later game and how it added some additional depth to the puzzles. It also had a weirdly satisfying animation.
Look forward to seeing the next project from this developer.

[h1]Solider gewaltfreier Indie-Platformer mit Rätseln[/h1]

Ich habe schon diverse ähnliche Platformer gespielt (z.B. Ori, Wenjia, Seasons After Fall) und "Macrotis" ist im Vergleich ein relativ kurzes, aber auch preiswertes Spiel. Die Gesamtspielzeit liegt bei geschätzten 10 Stunden.

Der Schwierigkeitsgrad ist mittel - und wie es sich gehört kontinuierlich ansteigend. Dabei wechseln sich Puzzles verschiedener Schwirigkeit ohne Zeitdruck mit Jump&Run-Sequenzen unter Zeitdruck ab, was dem ganzen eine hübsche Abwechslung gibt. Durch Sonderfähigkeiten im Spielverlauf, etwa das "Meditieren", ergeben sich völlig neue Arten von Rätseln, die überraschende Lösungen ermöglichen. Im Gegensatz zu "Ori" und "Wenija" habe ich das Spiel an keiner Stelle als unfair oder frustrierend schwierig empfunden, was ich als großes Plus ansehe.

Mein einziger Kritikpunkt sind die vorbelegten Tasten, die nicht anpassbar sind. Zur Navigation sind die Pfeiltasten + Leertaste Pflicht, und die linke Hand steuert mit den Tasten Shift, W, E, S und D Zusatzfunktionen. Das erfordert im Vergleich zu ähnlichen Spielen eine Umgewöhnung, und die nahe beieinander liegenden Tasten der linken Hand führen bei mir öfters zu ungewollter Fehlbedienung.

Das Spiel ist gewaltfrei und auch für Kinder gut geeignet. Wer eine Spinnenphobie hat, kann sogar in einen spinnenfreien Modus schalten. (Die sind eh nur Deko.) Das Menü ist mäßig gut deutsch übersetzt, die Audiosequenzen im Spiel sind jedoch nur englisch verfügbar, auf Wunsch mit deutschen Untertiteln.

Die "2.5D"-Grafik ist mal was Neues und sehenswert. Manchmal irritiert der sehr detailreiche Hintergrund etwas, aber im Grunde wirkt das Spiel sehr hübsch. Die Charakter-Animationen sind gut, die Übergänge aber oft abrupt. Die Musik ist nicht schlecht, trifft meinen Geschmack aber nicht so gut wie die der anderen o.g. Spiele. Gelegentlich nervt die häufige Wiederholung der Stücke etwas, und auch Mutter Bilbys Kommentare können bei mehrfach nötiger Wiederholung einer Passage manchmal nerven.

Für einen Angebotspreis von unter 5€ ist das Spiel definitiv sein Geld wert, selbst 8€ sind OK dafür.

Достойная инди-игра, можно рекомендовать. Красивая, без глюков, играбельная - непросто сделать что-то такое, достойный дебют для небольшой студии "Proud Dinosaurs". Недостатки, правда, тоже есть.

Вышел на неё через Steam Labs -> Deep Dive (поиск похожих игр) - искал игры, похожие на "Ori and the Blind Forest" и выпала на первой странице. Выглядит красиво, отзывы хорошие, стоит недорого - взял. Конечно, найти что-то сильно похожее на Ори-игру почти нереально (т.к. это, ИМХО, единственная игра в своём роде), но, как говорится, в разумных пределах. Играл на Linux через Proton и не сразу сообразил, что из-за этого не работают cutcenes. Мне сразу без лишних слов вручили персонажа? Ладно. Бежим и учимся управлению. Персонаж похож на землеройку, но уж очень разговорчивый! Игра выполнена в 3D: т.е. хотя это плоский платформер, персонаж и декорации - всё трёхмерно. Это не плохо и не хорошо, просто дизайнерское решение. Есть небольшие недочёты картинки и анимации. Но через минут 10 было уже совершенно всё-равно, т.к. игра затянула. Чтобы её пройти мне понадобилось часов 6, авторы игры оценили в 4 часа время, которое игрок потратит на игру.

Игра является исключительно puzzle-платформером, а, значит, врагов и боёвки нет совсем. Но это не значит, что в игре нельзя погибнуть - можно, и многими способами. Пенальти за гибель небольшой - возвращают к началу задачки, а задачки не длинные, если уже знаешь, что делать. Анимаций у персонажа не очень мало и, когда уже знаешь что делать, можно стараться двигаться по карте красиво. Задачки в игре бывают двух типов: статичные, коих большинство, и динамичные. Статичные на любом шаге не ограничивают игрока по времени. Динамичные же требуют успевать делать правильные действия в ограниченное время; но, когда знаешь что делать, то видишь, что запас по времени дают хороший. Решение редко приходит сразу, обычно решение получается за несколько итераций, которые необходимы, чтобы учесть все факторы. Некоторые динамичные задачки перекликаются с escape sequences из Ори-игры в том смысле, что надо уже начинать действовать, не зная ещё в точности, что же нужно делать - т.е. проходятся по тому же принципу trial and error что и в Ори-игре, но при этом проходятся достаточно быстро, чтобы не вызвать у большинства игроков rage-quit.

Завершить игру на Linux, к счастью, не смог: прошёл всю игровую часть, но чтобы завершить игру и получить соответствующее достижение нужно посмотреть cutscene, которые не работают на Linux. Тогда я пересел на Windows-планшет. Игра работает на 10-ке на Core M3 (Skylake, 2 ядра 4 потока около 2 ГГц, графика HD515) если понизить разрешение до HD (720p). На маленьком 10.6" экране игра выглядит классно! По-моему так достигается наилучший experience! Небольшие шероховатости картинки и анимации теперь совсем не видны, а cutscenes работают и тирады персонажей поэтому обрели больше смысла и игра в целом стала выглядеть целостно, можно сказать засияла (внезапно! :D).

Плюсы:
- красивая,
- играбельная, так, например, основную способность персонажа весело использовать,
- без багов (по крайней мере я не встретил),
- быстро затягивает,
- русский перевод хороший. Некоторые ньюансы смысла потеряны, но перевод всё-равно производит впечатление добротного.

Минусы:
- к сожалению, не держит до самого конца так же хорошо как играется вначале. Дело в том, что есть эпизод ближе к концу, когда попадаешь из одной головоломки сразу в другую и не всегда можешь сказать, что это другая задачка, а не та, что ты уже решал - настолько они похожи. Вначале интереснее было, когда тебя знакомили с разными механиками и головоломки остояли друг от друга. Т.е. пробежишься - решишь головоломку - пробежишься ещё; игра так воспринимается более динамично и разбавляет решение задачек созерцанием окружения пока бежишь. Могли бы выкинуть часть головоломок там и оставить вместо них куски карты, где можно просто бежать и любоваться;
- в игре довольно оригинальное управление и я не нашёл способа его изменить, что было немного неудобно;
- [strike]в игре нет VSync и потому на полных настройках графики моя R9 290, мощность которой избыточна здесь, использовала всю свою мощность и сильно грелась - пришлось понизить графику чтобы уйти от этой проблемы, что как-то не классно[/strike] добавили VSync;
- не понял почему, но хотя картинка не видно чтобы тормозила на Core M3 в FullHD (1080p), персонаж реагировал на управление с хорошим запаздыванием и это было совсем не дело. Вылечилось понижением разрешения до HD (720p).

Момент выхода на поверхность в конце очень понравился: трёхмерка использована классно, и сцена вызывает эмоции, - побольше бы таких моментов в игре!

P.S. У игры, похоже, очень мало продаж в Стим, хотя сделана с душою. Выглядит так, что из-за низких продаж разработчик быстро потерял к ней интерес после релиза, а ведь поправить по мелочи есть что. Да и, как известно, успех помогает двигаться дальше - сделать следующую игру ещё лучше.

Oyunu genel olarak beğendim. 2.5 D grafikleri ile oyun gerçekten çok güzel gözüküyor. Müzikleri de beğendiğimi söyleyebilirim. Platform ve puzzle kısımlarının ise gerçekten iyi düşünülüp çözülmesi gerekiyor. Oyunda herhangi bir aksiyon mekaniği olmadığı için yapımcılar puzzle kısmına çok kafa yormuşlar ama bu kısım çok gözünüzü korkutmasın. Deneme-yanılma yöntemiyle en fazla 6-7 denememde az çok nasıl çözüleceğiyle alakalı bir fikrim olmuştu benim. Senaryo kısmı ise tabi ki çok komplike ve detaylı değil. Oyunun sade ve hoş bir konusu var ve atmosferi yer yer ilgi çekici olabiliyor. Türk yapımı olması da göğsümüzü kabartan durumlardan biri tabi ki de. Proud Dinosaurs firmasının başka oyunlarını da sektörde görmek dileğiyle. :)

I bought this game to support the developers. It is their first game, and the studio is promising. As you may understand, I did not have many expectations from the game, but it turns out the game is fun. There are great puzzles to solve, and the graphics are beautiful. The only thing that I don't like is that the gameplay mechanics feel old. I hope developers will modernize the gameplay mechanics in their next game.
