I can't stress enough how great this game is. Unfortunately, this is another instance where the Playstation version is the definitive way to play. The first time you switch stages in the PC version, there is a sizeable frametime spike. At first I thought this was a typical case of shader compilation stutter, but it appears the shader is not even cached permanently. It happens every time you reboot the game. To have something so distracting happen in a tight puzzler is a shame

super fast and snappy falling block puzzle game that's based on reflexes and quick thinking to score well and survive long. a bar (the timeline) will sweep the screen and erase any 2x2 square it detects; more squares = more points. the blocks will always fall to the bottom, which means you can stack blocks in ways that allow consecutive combos once previous blocks are erased. checkerboard patterns are to be avoided, as they're hard to deal with, so you want to be at least a little careful with block placement the speed of the timeline changes with the music speed, with slower speeds allowing you to build up larger combos during that time. the music is also great; many EDM-type tracks with a good amount of genre mixing. has great tutorials and the mission mode challenges you on your skills and knowledge, allowing you to improve at the game and not feel lost. the puzzle mode is also pretty cute and a nice way to reinvent the game without changing the mechanics. visually, it's also fantastic, with lots of style that doesnt get too overwhelming during gameplay, and aiding how good the game feels to play.

This game is amazing!! One of my favorite games of all time. 10/10

Let me start off by saying that I've never played a Lumines game before trying this one. I was always curious to try this game but it always looked intimidating and confusing based off of the videos but nonetheless after playing a ton of Tetris Connected I bought this on sale in December 2025.

I started off really enjoying the game but was struggling to make it remotely far into the basic challenge and kept saying "I love this game and want to get better but its way too hard" I could only get to level 29.
So I kept playing just like everyone said, there is no formula to learn to get better, it just happens over time. It took 3 days stuck at 29 then I went to 35, then another day passed and got to 45, the 54, 83, 98, and finally 105. Once I learned how to become very efficient with all the blocks, specifically the L piece
(3 color, 1 color) that when I became way better. Then it came down to learning how to manage the board better over time.
Now I have gotten so good that I have all the achievements except beating the CPU without retries(Cheater).
I keep playing more and more and to my surprise I'm getting better and better so if you are new please do not quit because you will get better.

I can't express properly how much I love this game and am so thankful that I decided to try it for $5.

One of my most beloved games. It’s one of those rare gems that not many people know. The way you can just combo blocks and clear them while listening to the music is the most satisfying thing a puzzle game can have. The soundtrack honestly feels like a bonus to the already great gameplay, every song is so distinct. From bongos to electro, there is certainly something you will like in the game’s music. Tetsuya Mizuguchi described the PlayStation Portable as an interactive Walkman, this game much like it's predecessors, fully encapsulates that concept. Shame they didn't include the copyrighted music from Lumines 2. Just... play this game if you like block puzzle games. You won't regret it

I've played Lumines since the beginning when I was a 13 year old with a PSP that went with me everywhere. I've owned every Lumines title except the new Arise and it is still one of my favorite puzzle games if not my all time favorite.

Creo que esta es mi forma favorita de jugar a Lumines. La responsividad de los controles, la amplitud de opciones de personalización, todo es muy satisfactorio. Personalmente tuve que bajar el brillo porque los efectos de flash me mareaban un poco, pero por lo demás, bastante bien.
