One of the most frightening horror games I’ve played.
Bought this game on sale.... Wont even start.... doesnt say any error, steam just saying "starting...then the stop button and then the play button" nothing else..... So dissapointed!
дуже довга гра бо в ній всі попередні частини, обожнюю попередні частинии а цю так і не закінчив бо не дають шансу пропустити те що вже пройшов. Боляче але не рекомендую, розумію навіщо мені об'єднали попередні частини якщо вони вже мною пройдені.

Its a beautiful story, and tragic. But fun.
Gra fajna, choć ma według mnie trochę braków, np. lektor nie czyta to samo co w tekście, brak save - jest to bardzo irytujące jak wejdziemy w jedne drzwi i już się nie da cofnąć tylko trzeba rozdział przechodzić od nowa. Kilka razy zaliczyła buga w histori córki gdzie podczas animacji zawisłem w powietrzu i nic się nie dało zrobić. I tak z 4 razy z rzędu :(
Poza tym fabuła, zagadki, bardzo fajne. Są różne historie którymi musimy podążać.
Warto choć raz przejść każdą z nich, a dla ambitnych zaliczyć na 100%.
The original version of Layers Of Fear was incredible - it didn't need a sequel nor a remake to "expand" things...

Can't imagine how these are the same devs that made Silent Hill 2 Remake. This reimagining, while not lacking in the art and overall presentation department, can roughly be described as a series of nonsensical, directionless sequences trying to convey a lot of different things at once but missing something that would make it cohesive. As with Observer, this would've maybe been better as a movie or book.
The best game, my favorite
Аппаратный люмен +RT отражения и тени + HDR, делают игру визуально приятной глазу в 4к в DLAA 4.5.
Но в игре не реализовали наниты, и не завезли текстуры 4к, поэтому даже в нативе с DLSS 4.5 M текстурам не хватает деталей. Звук хороший, есть Dolby Atmos.
К примеру в Silent Hill 2 remake, на UE5 детализация намного лучше за счет нанитов
Сама игра по скидке для любителей жанра пойдет
Hardware lumens + RT reflections and shadows + HDR make the game visually pleasing at 4K with DLAA 4.5.
However, the game didn't implement nanites or 4K textures, so even with DLSS 4.5M native textures lack detail. The sound is good, and there's Dolby Atmos.
For example, in Silent Hill 2 remake, UE5 offers much better detail thanks to the nanites.
The game itself is a great buy for fans of the genre at a discount.
堪比艾迪芬奇的恐怖佳作,第2部完全超越了第1部
Ich habe mich als jemand der die Originale gespielt hat ja gefragt, was dieses Remake soll, aber war unter anderem durch den neuen Prolog zuerst positiv überrascht.
Aber dann erreiche ich die Stelle, wo der erste Teil von 2016 angefangen hat und von da an gab es Stabilitätsprobleme.
Nach dem dritten Absturz wurde es mir zu blöd.
Das Original lief einwandfrei.
Diese Version hier sieht auch nicht besser aus, aber zieht durch die Unreal Engine mehr Leistung als das Original.
Schade.
Die Layers Of Fear Reihe sind die einzigen Team Blobber Spiele, die ich echt gut fand.

I for the absolute life of me cannot get this game to run on Mac, even though it's "mac compatible". I've never, ever had issues such as getting basic functions to run properly (even for a single second, such as looking in a direction or walking). Because I payed for it I tried an hour straight to work around these issues, but the game is unplayable for me. I get stuck walking in a certain direction any time I try to move (with a 3 second lag), it glitches every time I try to look somewhere (again, 3 second lag), and I exhausted all options.
Technical notes:
This game runs as expected without performance issues under Proton Experimental, though in order to prevent it from freezing intermittently it was necessary to disable raytracing. This can be done from the in-game settings, though if you encounter freezing before you can reach that menu, you can also add the argument "-noraytracing" to the game's launch options.
HDR functioned correctly. Enabling DLSS caused some ghosting of text on the UI, but nothing too distracting.
The game itself:
I remember having fun with the original 2016 game, but I guess it hasn't really stood the test of time, because I found Layers of Fear 2023 to be really quite boring.
The original always sort of felt like a sophomoric and cliched effort, like it was mostly just a good project to help the developers learn Unity (and, I suppose, ditto Unreal 5 for this remake). But I don't remember it being as uninteresting as this. Did they remove half of the scares or something? The combat sequences they added diminished the experience rather than adding to it, as well.
I can understand the skepticism people had about Silent Hill 2 looking back at Layers of Fear, because while Bloober started to get better with the likes of Blair Witch and The Medium, this one is pretty rough. If I had checked out of their games straight after Layers of Fear, I would definitely have been worried about their handling of Team Silent's magnum opus.
It's kind of crazy they're doing a third game, a novel tie-in, and some live action stuff, because there's really nothing here worth expanding on.
Reading this back, it sounds a little harsh, but my opinion took a pretty negative turn towards the end, particularly because it seemed like there was a lack of care throughout this remake. There are so many errors in the note transcripts, and even on the assets themselves. The voice overs sometimes don't match the notes you pick up, as though they were hastily rewritten in the recording booth. And the acting itself is pretty poor, with a lot of hammy delivery. I found their inconsistent handling of how to redact the notes quite distracting, and the language used doesn't really suit the period setting.
All of the Layers of Fear games are pretty missable unless, like me, you are curious about Bloober's earlier work and can grab the game on a significant discount.

Oh boy, do I ever have thoughts about this game. It's only worth it if you have played and enjoyed the other games and are looking for something completely different. If you're looking for a remaster, then run away from this, because it is very different. They change the story and experience quite a lot from the originals. I love the plot of the original and how they tell the story of the painter and his effect on the people around him, but this version changes the entire underlying narrative.
At first, I was heavily put off by it; the direction they took was one I didn't like at all. However, considering that the 2016 version exists, and always will, understanding that a story can be told differently years later makes total sense and is acceptable. Overall, the game looks amazing, but I noted that the dialogue and script were considerably worse. The voice acting is okay, with lots of overlapping audio if you're moving at a pace too quick for the game's speed. It's best to take your time and wait.
This game is an attempt at morphing the franchise into an anthology series, which I didn't feel it needed. The mechanics introduced didn't add anything to the experience. So why play this? If you like the other games and want something different and new, then give it a try.
Next time, I’d like a game that captures the innovation, emotive narrative, and above all, the fear that the franchise deserves. The original did many things for the first time; I believe this addition does very little to innovate.
I loved Layers Of Fear 1 and 2, and I'm excited for 3, but I have to say I am unimpressed with this remake of 1. What I do like is the new world, it looks great, the voice acting is nice and I enjoy the new puzzles. What I do not like are the game breaking bugs, changes to the first story to force in new mechanics. What made 1 different from 2 big spoilers ahead [spoiler] is that the monster couldn't hurt you, but you are still scared because of the phycological aspect. They completely remove that for generic run from the monster time which even scary. In this remake you are forced to fight your wife (and turn her to goo??) or repeat the same part of the story [/spoiler] the 2016 version is better from a story perspective. [spoiler] "tip the scales" to me is a cheap replacement for the emotional weight of the decisions you make in 1 to get the wife and daughter ending. [/spoiler] imo if you want the best experience play the 2016 version for The Painters story. The og id give a 7-8 outa 10 but this remake is easily a 3 out of 10, they ruined it. play the 2016 version instead I can not stress it enough.

Jak dla mnie gra 9/10. Klimat, muzyka, fabuła, grafika i mechaniki prawie wszystkie cudne. No właśnie... Jedna ogromna wada według mnie to te potwory które cię gonią i jedyne co możesz zrobić to powstrzymać je na kilka sekund. Nurzące, męczące i według mnie nie potrzebne. Potwory można było wykorzystać lepiej jako straszaki, a nawet jeśli miało by dojść już do ucieczki bohatera to można było to rozegrać lepiej.
Jeśli lubisz horrory przy których trzeba pomyśleć by je przejść oraz zrozumieć fabułe to ten tytuł jest zdecydowanie dla ciebie.

beautiful aesthetic but it's mostly a walking simulator where sometimes there's something chasing you while you create a story. gameplay becomes very monotonous after 1h of gameplay.
LOVE the game. But the ending was disappointing, I was thinking they'd make the ending more interesting... Aka the woman who is writing. She got trap in the house with the flame and that's it.. Not really a BIG ending, my opinion though
