A Professor Layton-like that has great music, cute writing, and endearing animation, but is brought down by the gameplay, both in terms of the puzzles, and the metagame. Some minigames are fun, but because of the metagame timer mechanic, you can't enjoy them. Also, most of the minigames are timed as well, which ruins the cozy feel the game is trying for.
Plus a lot of the minigames are just not good. Running into a two stage sliding block puzzle, a towers of hanoi puzzle, and a minigame that require precognition in order to beat, all in a row soured me on this game.
It seems that the game was designed to waste your time to stop you from blasting through it, and refunding it in the return window. But this also makes the game more anxiety and frustration building than relaxing and cozy.
Later Alligator is such a joy to play! The minigames are all fairly short and simple, but that allows the humorous writing, delightful art, and absolute banger of a soundtrack to take center stage. The trailer does a great job of showing off the game's quirky charm, so if you vibe with it, definitely take a chance on this game!
It's not that this game is terrible, but I didn't click with the humor. I [i]love[/i] the art! It's super cute, but the jokes didn't land for me and it brought the experience down more than I thought. Might try getting extremely high and playing this with a friend to see if that elevates the experience for me.

A very cute game with clearly a lot of love put into it. I played it with my friends watching and we took turns voicing the characters and laughing at the goofy dialogue. The little minigames are cute and not too difficult. Worth noting that you can't do everything in one playthrough, though I think the game ends right at the right time without overstaying its welcome. The game is designed for you to have to make choices on how to interact with and where to go. I think it's a good mix of basically a visual novel with some point and click and little minigame elements. There are some very fun surprises throughout that I was delighted by. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a nice relaxing, goofy time.

Definitely a bit of a different game to my expectations, though not necessarily in a bad way. Despite being labelled as a point and click, the actual method of play featured here is far closer to a Professor Layton sort of point and click experience than a more traditional one, wherein the world acts more as a vessel for a variety of self-contained challenges as opposed to the bulk of the player's engagement being on that world itself. In this case, that refers to minigames and dialogue, where each new screen features a beautiful background and a bunch of very obviously visible characters to speak with.
The presentation of the game in general is straight up one of the coolest things ever though, a game that's a place to show off incredible amounts of adorable, expressive and well animated alligators that are able to capture such a wide range of appeals. I think they're basically all cute because alligators are inherently adorable, but it's fun seeing the contrast between those that are more explicitly adorable compared to rougher looking ones that are trying to act tough or mysterious. The game also makes excellent use of the entire screen for a lot of the basic assets and the more complex animations, leaving it that there's never a feeling of there being a truly dominant section of the screen that you need to draw your eyes towards, it's instead something that shifts around a lot and makes everything feel really dynamic.
The simplicity of a lot of the minigames gives off the impression of this feeling a bit like a high end flash game, a grab bag of basic mechanics spun in such a way to charm despite how little you're technically doing at points, making something as simple as playing Tower of Hanoi a genuinely deeply memorable, cute experience. With that said, the game has those moments where it reaches beyond those basic styles in order to deliver some fantastic creativity. I particularly found the section dedicated to fixing someone's phone to be lovely in the way that the actual steps you needed to take felt as creative as they did while also elaborating on characters in some roundabout ways. The overarching task of trying to figure out how everyone fits together in the family tree also ends up being a really fun task to undertake, especially once you hit the point where you're needing to examine the structure of the tree itself alongside more obscure clues to understand how everyone is connected, never being an especially impossible task but also being a clear step up in puzzle solving than anything else at play.
There was almost 0 question that I was going to like this game to some extent because it tapped into my love for crocodiles/alligators in such a pronounced way that I could feel stars in my eyes even when literally nothing of note was happening. Truly one of the best looking games I've played both in terms of staging and animation quality, and even if the game doesn't necessarily always reach particularly stunning heights in terms of your moment to moment interactions, you'll at the very least feel very comfy with your time playing it, at least, as long as you don't focus on the time limit.

Later Alligator is one of my favorite games of all time. I would recommend this game to literally anyone, since the gameplay is not too hard, but there are a couple achievements that require a few more play-throughs to get. The art style and the music are SOOOOOOO good, and the game has held up over time in terms of writing AND being bug-free. If you love funky, weird, and funny games, then you will have a great time with this game. If you don't, you'll probably also have a great time.

The art is cute and cozy as the other reviews say. If steam allowed for a starred rating system id give it a 3, i am giving it a negative purely because of the massive amounts of praise the game is getting. IMO, the art is one of the only things I like about the game. The music is really nice at first but grows annoying over time, the minigames are too easy but thats understandable for a cozy game. I seem to be entirely unable to win the pinball though, it is the only mini game that feels tough - but too tough.
It may just not be my kind of game, but playthroughs are short and if you want to go for achievements you need to repeat the same dialogue and it grows annoying with the music and same easy mini games.
I may retry the game and come back to this review, but honestly, I'm really not a fan.
This game was such a breath of fresh air and a wonderful suprise. The artwork and music are both wonderful and charming. The writing is absolutely top notch and hilarious. I would constantly catch myself giggling to the absurd logic of many of the characters. The puzzles and minigames where definetly engaging and enjoyable. A very creative point & click game that I would recommend to anyone!

Later Alligator is about Pat, a paranoid guy living in Alligator New York City, who becomes convinced his family is plotting to kill him. While treating himself to a birthday stay in a nice hotel, he meets you, and asks you to help him: go meet all his family members and talk to them to find out about the mysterious Event that will be taking place later that day. To get them to talk to you, you have to do them small favours or defeat them at something, resulting in a unique minigame.
It has delightful hand-drawn animation and the designs have so much personality and brightness. I would often just watch the animations play out and click on things just to see them move. I also loved it as a kind of homage to NYC culture and color. The writing was genuinely funny — I particularly enjoyed the text-message exchanges between you and Pat. It’s meta, and could be too meta, but the charm carries it off, as does the fact that it was often truly clever and original and doesn’t take itself too seriously. It was just so fun.
The real mystery of the story isn’t the question of The Event — what’s really going on with Pat’s family is pretty obvious pretty quickly. Instead, the main question is that of who you, the player character, are, and why you’re getting so involved in Pat’s life. This can only be solved by playing through until you manage to meet and defeat all the family members, and there are three endings which gradually escalate as you get closer to the truth. The game carries over all of your progress between playthroughs, so despite the ostensible time limit you basically can take as long as you want and not miss anything. I thought it was really well-constructed and was able to complete everything in 5 hours, including some of the more punishing achievements.
The gameplay is simple warioware-style minigames. This isn’t usually my favorite thing, but with a game that had so much going on in terms of art, music, and writing, I think this worked really well. (I actually quite liked the pinball minigame lol.) The minigames are cute and thematic and add some fun stakes without feeling like they’re getting in your way, and I think that’s fine for this type of game.
My one complaint is the achievements, which are really incongruously punishing for the style of game this is — it looks like someone separate from the main dev was responsible for the programming/tech side of things and whoever they were made a bad choice here. But that’s a real nitpick. I didn’t have any problems findings the collectibles, though an indicator of whether you’d found everything in a given area would have been nice.
On the whole I thought it was great and honestly for me the visuals and music make it worth experiencing on their own. I’ve been chuckling about it for a while now and will continue to think back fondly on it for the foreseeable future. I’m sure it was an enormous amount of work in terms of animation but I’d love to see another game from this studio — I’d especially love to see a completely different direction and atmosphere for the style. The team is just really talented.

Una pequeña aventura gráfica con minijuegos divertidos y un tono desenfadado. Su fuerte es la animación y el carisma que desprende su humor, pero la barrera del idioma puede resultar un aspecto a considerar. Ofrece un pequeño desafío para los completistas. Recomendado, solo si entiendes inglés alto y estás familiarizado con jerga americana.
Very fun and refresing game. The animation detail is so unique, I love how the devs took care of the personality of the game, which feels like a mixture of wario ware and professor layton.
I really liked the art style, quirky humour, and diverse puzzles and stories in this game. Unfortunately, it's got a few persistent and very annoying bugs, particularly relating to the more frustrating minigames and the puzzle pieces, which is a real shame. I would recommend it for kids and people who aren't interested in collecting achievements, or who don't mind extra legwork/potentially editing save files to remove dud data to re-collect puzzle pieces. The smooth animation, jokes, huge range of characters and stories, and overall level of polish and joy in the game is worth it!

A comedic point and click adventure game with a lot of simple minigames. The art and animation are the stars of the show here, and this game has some good music too.
The writing is shallow and the characters are one note, but thats fine because they are just a delivery mechanism for animations and jokes. The writing is pretty ironic and self-aware which I know irks some people, so be aware as you will be reading a lot of it.
The minigames are simple but fun, often with a little gimmick or twist to give them some personality (like playing hide and seek badly to give a sad kid a win in his life).
This is a clever, unserious game that's only a few hours long, but those hours are mostly filled with quality material.

Basically a ridiculously cute and frequently funny minigame...game. I had a stupid grin on my face up until the final hour or so of searching for the last couple collectibles, which became monotonous without a guide. I'll save you a lot of time: stick to the family badges - puzzle pieces don't give a meaningful reward.
Note that the game doesn't take very long to complete, isn't really on a timer despite what it may sound like, and is generally very easy. I get the impression some minigames were heavily nerfed since release.

Cute as hell, but the minigames can be pretty boring at times. Best way to experience this is by grabbing a friend on discord and enjoing the chaos together.
It's just not for me, the humor falls flat, and although a musician I'm fond of did the tunes, it's not entirely my cup of tea either. However, I spent $9 on this some five years ago, so I wanted to have given it a go.

Adorable little game. My one gripe is they don't support controllers. I have a Steam Controller, so I can get by, but most of the game could absolutely be played with controller. There are a couple minigames that are faster, and I'll have to play with a mouse (screw you stinky alley-gator), but I've thoroughly enjoyed the dialogue and characters.

Instantly one of the most charming point-and-clicks I have ever played. Just had a great little time solving mysteries in a buttery smooth hand-drawn animated alligator world where all of the characters are full of personality and have big stumpy lizard claws. There's also A SECOND PLOT TWIST after THE FIRST PLOT TWIST that ties the whole game together! (but only if you do a second playthrough)
I like that, in addition to Pat being the way he is (I would die for Pat), Pat's dad is [i]also[/i] an anxious wreck having an existential crisis but, through his advanced years, has learned to bury it with irreverent humor. May Pat soon learn his ways.
This is just so fun. There's so much life in all the animations, there's so much detail in all the backgrounds, and I really, thoroughly enjoyed how different all the minigames were from each other. It's just so lively! I hope one day I get to make something like this.

Been a SmallBu fame since baman and piderman and when I knew they were developing a point and click game, I was so excited. Charming and funny as always.
Un juego bastante memorable y que realmente se nota en cada rincon el cariño y la dedicacion con la que fue hecho, lo unico negativo que le veo es que el juego no tiene traduccion a otros idiomas para ampliar su publico y es demasiado corto, pero si la barrera del idioma no es un impedimento, es un juego que es realmente disfrutable y que te puede sacar una sonrisa, recomendado.

My only complaints are that the sound option does not really seem to work perfectly. You can control all sounds except the "fake" talking noises from the characters ... which is kind of off putting. Also the intro when you start the game is super loud and not affected by your sound settings. Best you can do is lower the game on your OS level

would give a 10/10 for animation and artstyle, game play is fun but the repeating for true ending thing kind of drags out. over all a great, cute ltitle game :)

Short and Sweet with a degree of replayability to see the full context of the... really out of nowhere ending.
I love Crocs and Gators so it was inevitable I grab this.
Even with the fairly simply designs, the characters are animated with a lot of personality, each character feeling very unique.

i really wanted to like this game. i bought it while it was on sale bc i wasn't sure if it would be a game for me. i don't want to return it bc i can tell that there was a lot of love and care put into this game, it just unfortunately isn't for me. i love the art style, i thought some of the dialogue was funny, and i really loved the story behind it. however actually playing the game isn't fun, it's just a bunch of minigames. some of them are kinda fun but majority is j ust frustrating/just a bit and not a game. if u want to play all the minigames u have to go through the game multiple times and it just feels like a slog. there's a character creator at the end and the choices feel lack luster to how some of the characters look in the game. the sound mixing is terrible! no matter how much u lower the sound it is still blaringly loud and honestly u might as well play without sound or turn ur computer volume to 1 (i had turned my headphone volume to the lowest possible and there were still moments of loud sounds).

But ♥♥♥♥ whoever the hell made the pinball achievement. Step on a lego :( Let me skip the ending as well, I don't want to do the flashlight scene->end scene section 100000 times. Now I despise this game.

Later Alligator는 마음이 유약한 어린 악어 팻을 돕는 주인공의 이야기입니다. 팻은 가족들이 자신 몰래 뭔가를 꾸미고 있다며 무슨 계략을 꾸미고 있는 지 주인공에게 밝혀 내달라고 의뢰를 합니다. 마을 곳곳을 돌아다니면서 팻과 관계있거나 혈연관계에 있는 사람들과 대화하여 미니게임을 플레이하여 사건의 전말을 서서히 알아가는 게임입니다.
전체적으로 가벼운 분위기의 게임이라, 편한 마음으로 플레이할 수 있습니다. 미니게임 플레이 방법도 몇몇 빼고는 직관적이고 간단하기 때문에 상당한 숙련도를 요구하는 게임은 없습니다. 다만, 일부 게임들은 다소 비합리적이라고 느낄 수 있는데, 판정이 이상한 뽑기기계 미니게임이라던가 양쪽 사이드가 넓어서 허무하게 핀볼이 날아가기 쉬운 핀볼게임, 아예 운에 의존해야 하는 도둑잡기등이 그러합니다.
또, 게임이 상당히 가벼운 만큼 깊이 있는 게임 플레이를 느끼고 싶다면 다소 부적합한 게임일 수 있습니다. 그리고 모든 수집요소를 다 모아야 진엔딩을 볼 수 있기 때문에 진엔딩까지 보고싶다면 게임을 약간 깊게 파고들어야할 수 있습니다.
총평
가격대비 플레이타임이 아쉬운 편, 상당히 가볍게 즐길만한 게임이지만 모든 진실을 알고자 한다면 모든 수집요소를 다 모아야 함.
This is honestly one of the cutest Sherlock Holmes type games I've ever played. I'm especially fond of the art style and the quirky dialogue the little gator folks got. The ending wasn't what I was expecting. All I know is this game is pretty neat!
I'm currently stuck trying to get all the achievements, but that just means I gotta get good, lmao—
Overall, 10/10 game. Would definitely recommend it to people looking for a short, fun story game. Trust me, its worth the few hours.

this game is SO CUTE i love the artstyle and the story and the music and it's a real treat to puzzle out and replay but the "pinball lizard" achievement is SO TEDIOUS to get and unfortunately i had to resort to manually giving myself the last puzzle piece because the game just bugged out. otherwise its very fun and casual (none of the minigames are really that hard, and if you are struggling, it is built to replay), and i will think very fondly of it!
