Finally, a great addition to "where is my wife" genre.

I absolutely love this game so far, i love the design of various enemies and the puzzles. I also really enjoy that your character doesnt have a health bar but honestly.....the sprint animation is little silly and when i flip the map it sounds like I am violenty punching it. Still 10/10, especially if you love games like fear and hunger or resident evil.

I've been looking for a game similar to Yuppie Psycho, if you like backtracking exploration with some action (lovecraftian themed) then you can give it a go.

It does look the part, although by the end after doing 1 ending (played on Normal),
I've no interest in going going back (it was interesting for the 1st half of the game)
- No major set pieces
- Bosses feel like minor bosses and most can be killed with melee without using the gun (especially if you're well versed in playing action games like soulslikes/soulsborne)
- Most music were silent
- No tenseful moments where there are dangerous enemies you have to hide from (like Alien Isolation or some parts in Yuppie Psycho)

Completely unimpressive game - an unoriginal story that feels like it's been done dozens of times before, bland writing and dialogue (doesn't have any 19th century flavour), laughably easy combat, and an obscene amount of backtracking across mostly boring locations.

It's a decent 'baby's first introduction to survival horror', I suppose, but that's about it. Wouldn't rate this above a 5/10.

Resident Bloodborne in 2D. Definitely one of Steam's hidden gems which I highly recommend.

Steam Deck performance:
Runs great, small size, easy on the battery. Perfect for the deck.

Pros:
- Great art style, the 19th century mansion filled with cosmic horrors
- The story is good even if not very original, I was genuinely interested in reading the notes and dialogues.
- Very familiar RE-style game mechanics work well in this game: limited saves, limited inventory, limited resources.
- Enemy and boss visual design is great. Combat wise it's serviceable, good fit for a survival horror game.
- Music and sounds are good and help with building the atmosphere
- Puzzles are mostly easy, but none is frustrating or counter-intuitive. Overall they do a good job of providing the some distraction from exploration and combat.
- The game features different areas, each fits well into the story and setting. It's great that the devs tried to bring a bit of variety there and not just limit the player to one mansion.
- Performance is perfect and I did not encounter a single bug in my 6.5 hours so far

Cons:
- I'm not sure it was a good idea to give the player iframe dodge roll. I mean, yes, it makes the game even more Bloodborne, but it trivialises combat to the extent that you don't feel threatened in a survival horror game. When you get the sabre you might as well put on the Doom Eternal soundtrack and blast Rip and Tear.
- The running animation is a bit weird and you will need to run a lot backtracking the levels in RE1 style.
- Level design of the later levels is not as good as the early game

As a huge Bloodborne and cosmic horror fan I absolutely loved this game. The devs definitely cooked with this one, I recommend it even at full price (I got it on sale). Looking forward to their next game which I already wishlisted.

Silent Hill 2 / Resident Evil with a smidge of Lovecraft. This game is excellent and well worth the price. It has an interesting premise, plays really well, it's very logical and the combat controls are great which makes fighting the monsters slightly more fun than usual for this type of game.

Only down side is you can't skip dialogue. There aren't many places where this is a big issue, but the few windy dialogs right before a boss fight can get really annoying.

The game is decent overall, but without a guide, S ending is incredibly convoluted.
There are also random non-consequential dialogue options early game that block ending opportunities for literally no reason at the end of the game. I had miss-clicked a dialogue option very early on before I referenced a guide, only for it to not change anything and leave me confused as to why I could not get ending A.

It is easy to tell a lot of thought was put into progression, lore, characters, and the world, however, dialogue was often odd which made it hard to take many conversations seriously.

I wish I could give a mixed review. It is totally worth the $4 sale price for anyone looking for random indie horror games to kill some time with, but it is not something I would recommend overall.

TDLR - everything else except the controls are the reasons to play this game! If I had to rate it, 8.5/10

If you have a weekend where you want to try something new - try Lamentum! The storytelling and atmosphere of this game is amazing - some of it was predictable, sure, but it didn't steal way from the story whatsoever. Tropes are tropes for a reason, and this studio did very well portraying them. Gothic horror is always a great genre to delve into and I did have a genuine jump in my seat once or twice (yes, even with it being pixel, those monsters catch me off guard sometimes). I was rooting for both Alissa and Victor throughout the game and thought that the roles the NPCs played were short, but clear when it came to furthering the story. Boss battles and monsters were fun when it came to figuring out their mechanics and whether to run vs. fight. The endings, while I haven't achieved them all (achieved 2/4 as of this review), seem like a good balance between "easy to obtain" and "yes, put some elbow grease in there, that's why they're the best endings" based on the guide I read.

Now, the gameplay mechanics - WHEW. It wasn't my favorite and definitely took some time to adjust, even when playing on a controller. I thought it was a bit silly that some items, such as keys, were automatically used w/o needing to equip, but ink, the required item for saving, had to be equipped beforehand. Aiming your gun was a bit wonky, but not horrific, especially since you can dodge/swing your way through the game. I also struggled longer than I'd like to admit when it came to using a knife for a situation where it had to be treated as an item, not as a weapon (even though it's equipped and used as a weapon for the rest of the game).

Fine, not what I had hoped, it goes way too casual on the "ambiance" (too much set dressing, it almost becomes comica rather than spooky) and for the immediate kick in the head of horror setting it doesn't exactly deliver while also peppered with EXTREME darkness.

But my reason for posting this now is the fact that I'm stuck, I solved the puzzle but I can't grab the mirror. What's that about?

Lamentum est une de ces rares tentatives d'adapter les codes du 'survival horror', démocratisés en grande partie par des jeux 3D (Alone in the Dark & Resident Evil), dans un jeu en deux dimensions. On retrouve donc de nombreux éléments de gameplay propres au genre: la gestion continue d'un inventaire à la taille limitée, les monstres et autres menaces que l'on fuit d'avantage l'on affronte pour préserver nos points de vie ainsi que nos munitions, le backtracking incessant, etc, ...
L'histoire de Lamentum est classique mais efficace: un homme amnésique mais déterminé à revoir l'amour de sa vie va traverser l'enfer (figurativement mais pas seulement...) et retrouvé progressivement la mémoire pour comprendre le pourquoi de tout ce merdier. La narration à base de flash-back et extraits de journaux trouvés au cours de l'aventure fonctionne bien et il y a suffisamment de personnages intéressants pour nous motiver à en découvrir d'avantage.
Visuellement, Lamentum affiche un très joli pixel art qui participe pour beaucoup à l'ambiance réussie du titre. On est ici dans le cauchemardesque à la H.P Lovecraft et on a plus souvent envie de serrer les dents que de se marrer.
Le titre a une durée de vie que j'estime correcte. Le finir en ligne droite prend à peine une dizaine d'heures ce qui est la norme pour un jeu du genre. De plus, plusieurs fins (avec un réel intérêt narratif) sont disponibles, dont certaines vraiment pas évidentes à obtenir (je tiens à préciser que je ne l'ai terminé qu'une seule et unique fois mais ai pris le temps de vérifier que le jeu en avait encore sous le capot).
Lamentum est un jeu que je recommanderai facilement pour toutes les raisons énoncées ci-dessus. J'aurais quelques reproches à lui faire tels que son 'menuing bancal' (ce qui est un problème dans un jeu où l'on passe tant de temps dans l'inventaire) ou bien le fait que les ennemis soient, pour la plupart, très facilement abusables (ce qui n'aide pas à les craindre) mais cela n'empêche en rien d'apprécier le titre. Si vous aimez les 'survival horror' ou que vous êtes simplement curieux de ce qu'un titre 2D horrifique peut donner, n'hésitez pas. Vous passerez un bon moment (façon de parler...)!

Je recommande chaudement, un bon Resident evil 1 like à l'ancienne, de plus avec un pixel art magnifique et une ambiance horrifique et pesante, ça a un charme fou.

Je voudrais revenir sur les combats que certains ont trouvé pénibles, je les aies trouvé pour ma part très facile lorsqu'on time bien ses attaques + esquive juste derriere (j'ai meme quasiment pas utiliser les armes a feu, presque que du cac toute la partie).

Concernant l'endurance qui s'puise lorsqu'on a un ennemi a proximité, la parade est très facile, suffit de courir par petit à coup de sorte à ne pas s'épuiser, de plus on a une esquive style dash gratos qui ne consomme pas d'endurance alors franchement sans etre insultant, suffit de faire un peu marcher sa matière grise...

Concernant l'histoire elle est assez classique mais sa narration est très bonne et les personnages secondaires prennent un tournant pour le moins surprenant, perso j'ai tout simplement adoré, un must have meme sans soldes

Jeux d'aventure/horreur dans la veine des Survival/horror à l'ancienne. A vous les joies de la gestions de soins et de munitions, les énigmes à base d'objets à combiner ou de plateformes à actionner.

Son histoire est assez classique : Vous voulez sauver votre femme de la maladie alors , avec tout l'espoir qui vous restes, vous allez chercher secours chez un aristocrate mystérieux. Puis ,vous vous réveiller dans un lit ensanglanté et sans votre dulcinée à vos cotés. A vous d'arpenter les couloirs de ce manoir pas comme les autres.

Le plus, à mes yeux, est la diversités des créatures que vous allez trucidés : Ils sont diverses pour un jeu de cette taille. Leurs designs oscillant entre le body-horror et le fantastique. Vraiment, chapeau.

Il existe plusieurs fins possible avec des conditions à répondre avant donc faites bien attention à vos actions.

Pour les fans d'horreur à l'ancienne, sautez le pas, c'est vraiment une réussite.

我就不该选一般模式，就应该选简单模式。累死累活打死苍蝇怪结果出来没墨水保存不了，为了找墨水又刷地图结果被怪逼近死胡同里戳死了。有些战斗容错率真的太不行了，换弹还要时间，子弹换完怪已经贴脸把我戳死了。

비행몹이 다가올 땐 왠만하면 잡고 넘어가자, 달리기로는 못 제치고 회피도 비행몹이 더 빨라서 개같음

거기다가 몹 있을땐 계속 뛰지도 못하고 랜턴을 들면 무기를 장착 못해서 시야가 좁아진 상태로 싸우게 된다.

번역이 되있지 않았더라면, 훌륭한 공략이 있지 않았더라면, 엔딩 한개 보기도 벅찼을듯..

엔딩 4개 다 봤음, S엔딩이 제일 보기 힘든거 같은데 다른 엔딩이랑 뭔 차이가 있나 싶다..

Gioco molto, molto carino e che - pur non avendo una grafica da far gridare al miracolo - intrattiene non senza instillare una buona dose di pathos e paura qua e là.
Il sistema di controllo è piuttosto agevole e le meccaniche di gioco si padroneggiano alla svelta.
Non mi è piaciuto molto il sistema di gestione dell'inventario: ok non voler permettere accumuli infiniti di oggetti, però è impossibile abbandonare qualcosa per far posto a un altro oggetto (l'unico modo è utilizzare un consumabile per la salute) e questo è un po' limitante.
Per il resto, ottima la possibilità di raggiungere quattro finali differenti anche se sono un po' troppo stringati (un filmato più lungo e pregnante sarebbe stato preferibile, soprattutto per l' "S".
Comunque, consigliatissimo a tutti gli amanti di questa tipologia di gioco basata sull'orrore lovecraftiano.

1.剧情克苏鲁。主角为了拯救患病的爱人，来到了一座神秘别墅，没想到别墅主人是邪教徒，将主角的妻子作为邪神降临的容器。根据主角收集和选择的不同，会触发4个不同的结局，分别是主角堕落，主角逃跑，主角战胜邪神降临体大义灭亲和主角放过邪神降临体自己牺牲。
缺点：
1.这个游戏除了剧情克苏鲁味道十足，其他都是缺点。首先是难度，别看游戏画面是2D像素，但是难度极高。几个boss战对你的走位和操作有极高的要求，否则很容易被秒杀。游戏的场景和关卡也充斥着魂游独有的开门杀、陷阱杀等。
2.主角性能弱。主角作为一名成年男性，战斗力极低，表现为体力少，很容易被陷阱秒杀或者死于怪物攻击。近战武器攻击速度极慢且近，很容易打不到怪物反而被怪物近身。远程武器每射击一发子弹都需要重新装弹，且子弹极少。强烈建议游玩本游戏的玩家用CheatEngine修改无限弹药，避免中后期被怪物围殴致死。
3.必须看攻略。本作如果不看指南的中文全成就攻略，几乎不可能靠自己摸索打出全部结局。很多道具隐藏的极为隐秘且错过就不能再取，恶意极高。
说这个游戏不难的，可以看一下成就完成率，只有4%左右的玩家战胜了最终boss，魂游真的害人不浅。

НО ребята- она без гайдов непроходима.
Вы будете блуждать часами, чтобы разгадать загадки и собрать все НЕПОДСВЕЧЕННЫЕ предметы, а их очень много.

Каким образом нужно догадаться применить предмет в одной из комнат, чтобы в другой что-то открылось-известно одним разработчикам.

И как же было обидно, когда я в конце узнал, что в определенном месте не взял один предмет и не смогу закончить игру на секретную концовку!!! Вернуться нельзя, очень обидно.

Система сохранений тоже храмает, автосейва нет, сохраняемся в спец комнатах.

В целом- это сложно, местами нудно и противоречиво. Все же- прошел.

Атмосфера огонь, музыка огонь и главное- история ооочень хороша по моему.

A játék Victor nevű emberkéről szól, akinek a felesége megbetegedik, a gyógyszerek nem segítenek, ezért elmennek egy Grau Hill nevű kastélyba, mert ott elvileg van egy elfeledett gyógymód, ami segíthet az asszonynak.
Persze, ennek ára van, de senki nem kérdezi meg, hogy meg akarjuk-e fizetni.
Emberünk se számít rá, micsoda árat kell érte fizetnie.

Lefekvés után elszabadul a pokol, rémálomszerű világban találja magát, mely ötvözi a Silent Hill és a Resident Evil elemeit, hangulatát is, és remekül.

A rémálomban különleges, bizarrabbnál bizarrabb szörnyekkel találkozol. Bizarr, de mindenképpen érdekes világban, festményekkel, hangulattal.
Ezt sehol nem kapod vissza, az biztos.

A játékban az a feladatod, hogy megold a rejtvényeket, megtaláld az élőket, s eldöntsd, kiben fogsz megbízni, mert a játéknak több befejezése is van.
A rejtvények megoldásával fegyverhez juthatsz, szobákat oldhatsz fel, vagy akár titkokat is felfedhetsz.

A rejtvények nem bonyolultak, nem kell arra gondolni, hogy sudokuzni kell, vagy kacifántos logikai feladványokat kell majd megoldani, mert nem.
Egyszerűen csak meg kell találnod a szükséges elemeket egy másik elem feloldásához, vagy éppen a tovább jutáshoz.
Mindez pedig azzal járhat majd , hogy a mentésedet többször is be kell töltened.

Nyugodtan aktivált a "korlátlan mentés" lehetőséget, ezzel nem esel el semmi fontostól, a játék nem lesz ettől könnyebb, csak kevésbé idegesítőbb, mert nem kell újra meg újra az elejétől kezdened, vagy sok lépést, teendőt, előrehaladást visszaugranod, ami hatalmas segítség, hidd el.
Csak abban fog segíteni, hogy nem fogod negatívan értékelni a játékot, nem fogsz kilépni, mert eleged van, hogy újra meg újra be kell töltened valami ostobaság miatt a mentést, ha van, mert ha nincs, kezdheted az egész játékot előröl.

A játékban van közelharci illetve távolsági fegyver is.
Mindegyiknek a használata rémesen egyszerű.
Egyik csalóka opció a kard lesz. Megszerezheted a szablyát ugyan, elég hamar rá is bukkansz, de sajnos ez egy rejtvény, amit meg kell oldanod, hogy végleg tied legyen a szablya, és kisétálhass vele a szobából.
Ne feledd, ha látod, hagyd ott, mert meghalsz. Ezt amúgy egy fa karddal helyettesítheted. Tehát a szablya csak akkor lesz a tied, ha a helyét pótolod fa karddal, amit meg kell találnod, s akkor kimehetsz a pengével a szobából.
A kés lesz meg a legkönnyebben, a többiért kacifántos utakat kell bejárnod, és rejtvényeket megoldanod, hogy a birtokodban legyen.

Az eszköztár mérete korlátozott. Fontold meg, mit tartasz magadnál. A régi elemeket, vagy az épp nem kellő darabokat, esetleg az újakat egy végtelen fenekű ládába rakhatod bele, az íróasztal közelében, ahol elmentheted a játékot.
A tárgyakat csak akkor vidd magaddal, ha az éppen kell.
Például a kés.
Vagy a lámpa, egy vagy kettő gyógyitóka.
Ha van pisztolyod, a kés nem kell. Ha van szablyád, a kés nem kell, stb.
A Puzzle-tárgyak maradjanak a ládába.
Ha majd megvan minden darabja, mehetsz velük a szükséges helyre. Feleslegesen ne cipeld.

2 fajta életerő feltöltő itóka van. Egy félig feltöltött flaska, ami kevés életerőt ad vissza, meg egy teletöltött flaska, ami nyilván többet, akár a teljes életedet feltöltheti.
Ne feledd, a játékot a halálhoz közeli életerő-státusszal kezded, így az legyen az első dolgod, ha megtalálod az itókát, hogy igyál, A fél palackokat egy teljesen feltöltött palackká kombinálhatod, helyet takarítva meg.

[h3]Grafika és hangok[/h3]
A grafika egyszerűen csodálatos, magával ragadó, persze csak annak, aki nem él full-kawai hangulatban.
A rajz, a grafika nagyon részletes, lenyűgöző hangulatot áraszt, megvan a nyomasztó érzés.
Szépek szörnyek, a színek, elképesztő játék.

A zene mindig ugyan az, szinte, ennek ellenére nem lehet ráunni.
Mindegyik szörnynek egyedi, sajátos hangja van, melyet távolról is lehet hallani, még az előtt, hogy meglátnád, ami különösen hasznos, ha a sötétben vagy.

Mind a grafika, a hangok, és a játékmenet remekül illik egymáshoz, nagyon klassz egyveleget alkot, ami miatt igen hamar rabul ejt minket a játék.

[h3]Hallássérülteknek:[/h3]
Tény, hogy a játékban a szörnyeket előbb lehet hallani, mint látni, főleg a sötét szobákban, de ez ne tántorítson el attól, hogy játssz vele.
Én csak az első 2 órát játszottam végig hanggal, a többit nem.
A játék [b]könnyű[/b] fokozaton remekül játszható hangok nélkül is.
A szörnyek elől elfutni mindig van lehetőség ezen a szinten, sose fognak lesből lecsapni, nem ér váratlanul, így az se baj, ha nem hallod a sötét szobákban, mert ha meglátod, gyakorlatilag a reakcióidődőn múlik, hogy el tudsz-e lépni mellőle, majd elszaladni, ha kell. Ha van jól feltöltött életerőd, egy sebzést bekaphatsz, de az semmis, elvégre könnyűn játszod.
Vannak lények, melyek gyorsak, és követnek, ha nincs fegyvered, menj ki a szobából minél előbb, és megvan oldva a probléma.
Más szörnyek csak akkor veszélyesek, ha közel mész hozzájuk, vannak akik nem is látnak, akkor se, ha te már látod őket.
Szóval ez a könnyű fokozat éppen erre van kitalálva.
Teljesen jól játszható a játék hangok nélkül, de ez akkor lesz igaz, ha könnyű fokozaton játszod, és ne érezd magad kínosan emiatt. Nem az a lényeg, hogy nehéz fokozaton kividd, mert az a menő.
A szórakozás a fontos.

[h3]Megéri-e?[/h3]
Naná, hogy megéri!
Akciósan egyáltalán nem drága, kb 4 euro lehet, ezen az áron meg aztán végképp megéri, mert egy csodálatos világot, látványt kapsz, egy izgalmas játékmenettel.
Bár tény, hogy nagyon rövid, de annál szórakoztatóbb.
Ha bírod a horror játékokat, ki kell próbálnod.

Oynadığım en detaylı pixel korku oyunu diyebilirim. Farklı farklı endingler var. Save açıp diğer endingleri de görebiliyorsunuz. Walkthrough olmadan oynamak biraz zor. Çünkü görevlerin belli bir sıralaması veya hangi yöne gitmeniz gerektiği ile ilgili ipucu oyunda yok. Bir odaya girdiğinizde önünüze birden yaratık fırlayabiliyor. Mansion içinde ve dışında da yüzlerce oda olunca oyunu oynamak gerçekten zorlaşıyor. Ama beni hikayesi ve diyalogları ile içine çekti diyebilirim. Kesinlikle full parasına bile değer.

勉强的好评，望山跑死马。

因为研究洛夫克拉夫特，看了游戏推荐过来的。看到的弹幕都在说“跑图可能有些劳累”。我心想我也算玩过不少游戏了，跑图而已，无伤大雅。跑图也是一门艺术，在不同的区域中，获得强力的道具也好，补充故事情节也好，每个区域都有着自己的功能。
如果让我现在回头来评价这款游戏，它的地图设计和区域功能设计是否做到了这一点？我想它做的很不错。

整个游戏的感受，可以分成三部分来解释：
拿到新钥匙，回到旧区域。打开新房间，知晓更多秘密，获得更多道具，击败更多敌人。钥匙代表的，是一份探索的恐惧夹杂着激动的欢愉；
在雨夜的花园迷宫奔跑，与怪物纠缠战斗，压抑的气氛夹杂着焦虑的心情，谨慎地解开谜题，最后拿着雕像饰品一溜烟地回到安全屋，不安的心情一泻千里；
在血腥迷幻的镜中世界厮杀，寻找解开谜题的线索，在不断地战斗中，感到劳累的同时，又仍然坚持往前走，一路直达教堂，不断地机械操作，最后完成游戏。

看起来，我似乎代入了我操纵的角色，能设身处地体会他的情绪，从而奔跑，解密和战斗。难道我不该为这样的游戏给一个优秀的评分吗？

我拒绝。因为跑图的相对时间占比...实在是太长太长了。

我打了两个存档。这算是我的一个习惯。第一个存档就是用来感受主线的，莽就完事了。第二个存档我才会去注意支线，在进入镜中世界前通过网上的攻略，补齐了漏掉的部分。由于第一个存档熟练度的加成，我比上次竟然快了...大概只有二十来分钟。
整个流程中，我感觉战斗啊，资源管理啊，等等其他部分，占比实在太少，也没有什么记忆点，就是老生化那一套。但是跑图的占比太多，这就显得整个流程，回忆起来好像一直在跑。
我感觉我就像一头，头上吊着一根胡萝卜的驴。

还有个S结局，看看其他人的视频好了，没力气玩了，牛马也得休息休息。

As a person who does not like playing horror games, this was pretty neat, it gives Resident Evil vibes (Limited inventory, safe rooms, and saving with ink) which is not a bad thing. I did enjoy playing it, the story was pretty intresting, but kinda predictable, and the gameplay is pretty basic, however the game was fun overall, it's a hidden gem of a game 9/10

A 2D Survival Horror title, taking place in mid-nineteenth century New England, playing as Victor Hartwell, bringing his wife to the halls of Grau Hill in search of a cure for a fatal disease she has contracted.

Lamentum has a strong foundation in survival horror in terms of its game play mechanics; requiring inventory / supply management, combining items, notes for lore, seeking out NPCs which still roam the grounds, and finding puzzle items in order to proceed. Combat is pretty simple, with a variety of both melee and ranged weapons to be found should you go looking, enemies dropping to a few swings of an object. Ammunition is quite plentiful, still finding myself saving it for boss encounters to breeze on through. Healing comes in the form of bottles of laudanum, which can be found whole or in halves, to be consumed or combined into a full bottle.

Much of the strength of Lamentum comes from the fantastic pixel art / sound work, rendering the halls of Grau Hill and the creatures within in such a great way that builds a strong atmosphere / world. The world of Lamentum feels quite Silent Hill inspired, due to a nightmare world slipping its tendrils into the mansion / surrounding grounds, along with the slight eldritch vibes coating the experience. Creature designs are really on point, being great pixel representations of twisted humans into monstrous forms of body horror.

There are four different endings to be found, one requiring the collection of Strange Coins and Teeth throughout the entire play time, with all four able to be nabbed with the right dialogue choices at key points in the game, along with reloading a save towards the end.

I was surprised with how much I ended up enjoying Lamentum, being a pretty fantastic experience at the end of the day. I would easily recommend this to fans of survival horror.

Can't recommend the game due to game-play. So many inconsiderate things they do to the player. Having to equip ink every time to save, all enemy combat is exactly the same (swipe dodge swipe) really never needed a gun at all, and the worst part is ALL traversal is a damn maze its fine if some of the game felt like a maze but not the entire thing. Found my way around eventually but 4 of my 7 hours was just trying to figure out where to go. 1 other minor gripe were all the side characters wish they gave the player more time with Edmond, Clayton, Lily, etc cause their outcomes were just confusing and didn't mean anything since I had no attachment to them other than reading the various notes found around.

Lamentum is a successful blend of Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Edgar Allan Poe in a competent 2D setup.

Great pixel art, great soundtrack, good writing, good level design, simple but efficient gameplay. The plot is somewhat standard, but engaging and not disappointing.

There's not much to dislike in this game. It is perfect in what it proposes: an eerie small adventure in a creepily beautiful atmosphere of classical nightmare.

There should be way more 2D RE/SH-like games like this one. It is the best format to enjoy a gloomy (but somewhat cozy) casual horror experience.

Lamentum is an excellent sprite-based Lovecraftian puzzle-horror game that takes elements from many games and blends it into something uniquely its own.

The combat takes some getting used to, but once you understand the ideal mechanics (keep distance -> time melee swing to connect as soon as enemy moves within striking range -> frame-cancel with evasion move to retreat out of range of enemy -> repeat until dead) it's pretty straightforward.

The puzzle gameplay is where Lamentum excels. There are a wide variety including pictograph/cipher puzzles, item combination puzzles, memory puzzles, and even some items that can be used exclusively for specific solutions, giving the game some replay value to see all there is to see. Not extremely challenging but still satisfying.

However my favorite aspect of the game is the lore. The history, trying to piece together events and identifying who wrote messages, and deciphering the Lovecraftian language to solve messages adds a ton of texture to the game. I kept an open notebook where I tracked numbers I came across, symbols, tried to work out event chronology, and just genuinely had a great time exploring the game world. I'd recommend the game for this alone.

My only complaint would be that there are conditions that need to be satisfied for the various endings, and one in particular involves finding hidden items that do not all have the telltale "glint" that indicates most other items in the game that can be looted. To amplify this, several of these hidden items are in areas that the player cannot back-track to or revisit, meaning that if you miss one you are locked out of that ending for the current playthrough. It would be nice if there were some sort of equipable item or some other method of detecting if such an item is present in the current room/area, for example. Maybe something to consider if the developer makes a sequel.

The art style is cool and I think the story is interesting, but my only problem with the game is every time I go to shoot with the pistol, the game freezes for a couple seconds. I don't know if it's my drivers or settings, but I almost die each time because the enemies get to move a little bit before the screen starts moving again, making a slight teleportation effect happen. Haven't screwed me over yet, but if I die from it and lose a bunch of progress, I'm changing the rating to a thumbs down.

嗯...虽然我不太喜欢玩克苏鲁游戏，但我还是从这款游戏中获得了不一样的乐趣，感觉上这游戏解谜的元素没这么复杂，但我玩到中期的时候还是得查攻略。简单说一下，老婆有病没得治所以去求助黑暗地牢那个“我们的家族没落了”的伯爵，结果被人家设计了一夜之间老婆没了自己也傻了，于是就慢慢找老婆顺便揭开真相。这游戏有枪，CE能改子弹，血瓶很多，吓人的地方不多，除了最终BOSS没有什么机制怪，有点收集元素但不严重，如果不想达成隐藏结局可以不理会。对了闪避小技巧，近战收刀慢，砍出去的时候马上闪避即可重置普攻，另外枪需要较长的上弹时间，也可以利用闪避技巧在武器出现上弹动作或者你看武器图标装上了子弹的时候闪避即可进行第二轮射击。其次可以用闪避帧躲掉部分怪物的攻击（比如最终BOSS的菊花范围攻击，闪避动作出现的时候是免疫攻击的。好端端的克苏鲁游戏被我玩成了类银河城也是尴尬），祝大家游戏愉快。

Lamentum is a game that caught my eye because it already had one of the things I love. Amazing pixel art. With that being said, not only does the art style work perfectly with the game play but the story is awesome.

I have also lived in New England and can confirm that these creatures are crawling the streets at any given time.

The riddles are fun and you have to think a bit to figure out where to go next, which is a nice touch for a change.

Lamentum é um jogo surpreendente que superou todas as minhas expectativas, oferecendo uma narrativa que me prendeu do começo ao fim, mesclando, sabiamente, homenagens aos clássicos do terror, como Silent Hill, sem perder sua unicidade narrativa. A experiência da jogatina é melhorada por um sistema de backtracking fluído que permite aproveitar cada detalhe dos mapas, itens e inimigos, retirando qualquer aspecto que possa ser considerado cansativo ou enjoativo. Além disso, é impossível não observar como os finais, o meio e o início do jogo se entrelaçam com o próprio nome “Lamentum”, sintetizando de maneira magistral a tensão, o desespero e a beleza melancólica que permeiam toda a jornada vivida por Victor, o que, na minha opinião, consolida esse jogo como uma obra extraordinária.

This game still needs work. He should have had a native english speaker play the game before releasing it, and point out all of the flaws to him so he could go back and fix the bad english. Makes the game somewhat difficult to play. The amneisa mechanic where you suffer a penalty when seeing monsters is also uncalled for here, and was much better implemented in amnesia where you could actually escape from the monster. Here you may be much too far away from a door to do that. I wouldn't recommend buying this game unless you catch it at a ninety percent discount.
