I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

I like the game a lot, but it has some frustrating issues. I first played this years ago and had only remembered it recently, so I picked it up to try it once more. The game itself is great, it has simple stealth-puzzle gameplay where timing and reaction are key. The story is a bit dull but I like it for what it is. The music is nice, but gets repetitive, and the artwork is alright.
Some bugs I ran in to are guards spotting you when you're behind solid objects, the screen going completely black after entering doorways or getting spotted (and having to quit and re-continue), and one wildcard where the game just crashed altogether. All of that in just 1 hour of playing. If it weren't for it being genuinely fun and a pleasant experience, I'd have stopped already. It's an old game, so I don't expect anything to be tweaked any time soon.
Overall, for the price, I'd say go for it. It truly is a good game, just needs more polishing.

It's a stealth game implemented in the RPG Maker Engine.
It all controls the same as overworld segments in RPG Maker games, your moveset is limited to walking and interacting with objects. So it's a bit limited in mechanics to say the least.
It's not a great stealth game but an interesting one if you want to see how RPG Maker can run a stealth game.

I feel bad about this, but the game kinda sucks. I suppose that a lot of my criticism is subjective, but even then I hardly think this game is worth your time. There are many other stealth games with far better stories and gameplay out there.
I'm a fan of stealth games myself, but whenever I play a stealth game, I always just shoot the guards from a distance and then slip by. Here though, perfect stealth is the only way through. There aren't any weapons or even stealth tools. Not to mention that despite having branching paths, the level design is very linear and restrictive. To get through a room, there's often just one (maybe two) ways to get through, and levels aren't super open either. It's quite simple and when all you're doing is sneaking, it can get pretty tedious. Maybe I'm just impatient, but I can't stand waiting around for guards to move for half my playtime.
There's the story too. I didn't get to far into the game, but it seems pretty lame. There wasn't really a "hook" and the characters weren't particularly well defined or entertaining either. It seems like a Robin Hood story in a fantasy setting with an anti-war message. The main character, Estella, is especially a let down. First of all, her design is pretty poor. She doesn't even look like a woman. She doesn't need to be a bimbo or anything, but she certainly could've used some more charm.
The graphics are mostly stock RPG Maker fair, but Estella and the guards have original sprites. Nobody else, though which is incredibly jarring. Estella and the guards more realistically proportioned, but everybody else is just a stock RPG Maker chibi. What the heck? Why bother giving just Estella and the guards original sprites then? A consistent look is very important; the illusion is shattered when the art style radically changes like that. I know graphics can be expensive to produce, but I paid money for this game and I expect more. Besides, not making anything original would've literally produced a better product and been cheaper.
The music was good, though. I can't really comment much. It just fit the mood fine.
Anyway, the simple story and sterile gameplay really don't warrant the need for anyone to play this game. It is cheap, though, so I suppose if you feel like it then you can pick it up and try it, but even then is something so mediocre really worth your time at all?

In Ladra you play as the thief Estella, who's main goal is to relieve noblemen and women of their burden of wealth, and occasionally dabble in information gathering.
When a friend of a friend hears an unsettling rumor, Estella, the best thief in the city is hired to look into it. After eavesdropping and uncovering vital information of an unsettling plot, you must do everything you can to prevent a war from ever happening.
Coming into this I had pretty low expectations, I don’t typically enjoy RPG maker games but I was pretty happy with this one. The stealth mechanics were pretty neat and I enjoyed the plot more than I thought I would. The music was pretty standard.
To fullscreen the game, open the game and right click on the white bar on the top where you can close out the game (X), click properties and then “fullscreen.” Restart the game and enjoy!

Pretty fun ninja game. I found the second theft mission to be a bit too long and lost interest in continuing. Really needs a bigger screen or full screen option, but it's still a pretty cool system though!

An interesting game, attempting to combine stealth-action genre with JRPG style. The heroine, a young thief named Estella, sneaks through the night past the guards, “appropriates” various treasures (and books) from nobles too rich to need it, and must stop a conspiracy threatening to bring total war that would engulf nearby kingdoms. The game is short (some 1-3 hours of gameplay), simple in graphics and with few simple melodies. Being spotted by the guards (before you learn how to avoid them) might get frustrating, if you’re not careful, but you won’t be forced to repeat an entire mission if discovered. Game system is easy to master, so even an average player shouldn’t have any problems getting all the achievements over time. Good pick if you want to try a stealth game that is a bit more casual.

The idea of making a rpg maker stealth game is very good, but the system is somewhat frustrating and way too simplistic, as are the dialogues, which don't have character portraits or any other way to give some life to the conversations..
With an interesting story and an attempt to innovate on the RPG Maker genre, it's a good case study for your RPG Maker ventures but not very fun on it's own.

TLDR: Stealth-only gameplay in RPGMaker engine. Surprisingly well executed but gets repetitive and a bit frustrating. Short game if you stick to beating.
So basically this is an inventive game in which you cannot enter combat. You stick to darkened tiles that darken the whole screen, acting as a fairly effective shadow system to stay outta line of sight. You can crouch to use scenery to block field of view and also enter cupboards, cracks in walls and study guard patrol patterns to sneak past them
There are a series of small challenges with a return to a hub periodically to get some of the lore and story which seemed decently told but nothing really memorable or special.
While I do not hate the game, the mechanics are very well executed but would had been better used in a more fully fledged RPGMaker title rather than as its own standalone game. There is something kind of slow about the stealth gameplay and without a solid engine, or the ability to fall back on combat or use distractions to alter the guards patterns it gets a tad tedious.
Becomes fairly easy once you are frustrated to stop caring about the guard's patterns and try to brute force your way through which more often than not will punish you by resetting some progress. Thankfully the game autosaves on the regular.
Once the game starts expecting you to pickpocket moving guards, remembering branching pathways in a building or otherwise handle tight success windows to get through a corridor. It can become more trouble than reward for the more casual player out there. Especially without a map.
There has been quite a number of little stealth games released as well, and the genre has quite a fair bit more competition than you would expect. Games such as Serial Cleaner come to mind, but one should not discount the Thief series, the deus ex's, assassin's creeds, Styx series, Hitman series and probably many more.
For those reasons I would rather declutter the library by removing local content and hiding this title in the archive so as to give better visibility for other games that have a more ambitious and better rounded overall gameplay on offer.
Ladra é um jogo de rpgmaker em que você controla Estella, uma ladra pra lá de furtiva que está tentando impedir uma nova guerra de acontecer. Basicamente, não há combate aqui. Você precisa se esgueirar pelas sombras, engatinhar ao lado de balcões, bater a carteira de guardas-chefes, esconder-se em armários e fendas para passar sem ser vista. Se for vista, você precisa recomeçar da sala em que entrou.
O jogo tem lá sua dificuldade. Talvez seja eu que seja meio besta, mas já a segunda missão achei muito difícil em comparação com a do tutorial, sem mencionar que há uma parte em que se você é pega e reinicia, às vezes você é automaticamente pega por conta do respawn bem nas vistas do guarda.

Juego entretenido. La historia podría estar un poco más pulida. Bastante de fácil de jugar, aunque contiene algunos bugs al salir de determinados escondites y he tenido que cerrar el juego y volver a empezar. Estaría bien que lograran arreglar estos pequeños fallos.

While its simplicity is often brought up as a flaw in reviews (which is fair), it's actually just what i wanted out of a stealth game. Sneaking around, with a clear way to get through, nabbing collectibles as you go. The moment you get caught, you get put right back where you were beforehand. It never tries to be more complicated- it doesn't add a battle system for when you get caught, for example. Its just something simple to play through without racking your brain, and I appreciate that.
I haven't gotten through it yet and I'm sure I'll have more to say when I'm finished, but I figured I'd put a placeholder review for anyone whose expectations for this game are different than the actual gameplay. That and I want to help get the game out of the mixed reception zone lol.

Я очень редко пишу отрицательные обзоры на игры, но у меня нет иного выбора в данный момент. Управление рассыпали по всей поверхности клавиатуры! Игра заставляет долгое время следить за противниками, искать обходные пути и маршруты, но при мельчайшей ошибке просит начать с самого начала комнаты. "Но как же кайф хардкора?" - спросите вы. "Это багнутое управление, несуразная реакция врагов" - отвечу я! Управление портит все впечатление от игры, оно выводит и рвет игроку нервы. Я очень хотел пройти эту историю, я начал вникать в сюжет, пытался запомнить имена героев и целей, но на 3тьем задании удалил игру с великим облегчением. Не советую покупать.

Die meisten RPG-Maker-Spiele sind Rollenspiele nach fernöstlichen Gameplay-Mustern (wen sollte das auch verwundern). Inzwischen gibt es aber auch einige Titel, die diese Engine für andere Spielgenres verwenden. So gibt es z.B. (Action)-Adventures, Simulationen und sogar Jump'n'Runs. Auch der brasilianische Indie-Entwickler „Is Future Bright“ kehrt mit „Ladra“ (ital. für weiblicher Dieb) dem eigentlichen Sinn der RPG-Maker-Engine den Rücken zu, und setzte das Programm für ein Stealth-Spiel ein. Nun ist diese Idee nicht wirklich neu. Tatsächlich habe ich schon einige Maker-RPG's gespielt, wo Stealth-Abschnitte als Minigame Verwendung fanden (Deadly Sin, Echoes of Aetheria). Diese Abschnitte haben mir immer gut gefallen, daher weckte auch Ladra mein Interesse, welches dieses Konzept aus einem kleinen Gimmick heraus in ein vollwertiges Spiel umsetzten möchte. Ob der RPG-Maker jedoch tatsächlich für ein spannendes Stealth-Game geeignet ist oder nicht, will ich euch in folgenden Zeilen verraten.
[h1]Make theft not war[/h1]
Man übernimmt die Rolle von Estella, einer Kriegswaise, die von einem alten Meisterdieb ihr Handwerk erlernt hat und seitdem ihre Brötchen mithilfe ihrer langen Finger verdient. Auch ihr Hehler Tonan wurde einst von Estellas Lehrmeister ausgebildet, womit er wohl so etwas wie ihre Familie darstellt. Tonans Taverne dient dazu nützliche Informationen aufzutreiben, während das Hinterzimmer zur Abwicklung der schmutzigen Geschäfte genutzt wird – wie praktisch! Doch keine Sorge: Abseits ihrer kleptomanischen Ansichten sind Estella und Tonan überraschend ehrenwerte Menschen, die Gewalt und Krieg zutiefst verabscheuen. Der König ihres Heimatlandes Brumine ist da leider ganz anders gepolt. Er plant einen Krieg mit der Nachbarnation Likram. Hierbei geht es freilich um nichts anderes als den Gewinn wertvoller Bodenschätze. Estella ist nicht sonderlich erfreut über diese Nachrichten, schließlich hat sie im letzten großen Krieg gegen Likram ihre Eltern verloren. Um zu verhindern, dass die aktuelle Generation das Elend des Krieges miterleben muss, beschließt sie mithilfe von Tonans Informationsnetzwerk diebische Gegenmaßnahmen zu ergreifen …
Tja, und damit wäre die bodenständige Handlung auch bereits abgewickelt. Man übernimmt eine Diebin in einer mittelalterlichen Welt, die ihre Fähigkeiten für den Frieden einsetzen möchte. Und ehrlich gesagt, kann man auch nicht viel mehr dazu sagen, denn überraschende Wendungen, weitreichende Charakterentwicklungen und dergleichen sucht man in diesem Spiel vergebens. Das liegt vielleicht auch daran, dass das Spiel nur ca. 2 Stunden kurz ist. Und da Estella nun einmal nichts weiter als eine pazifistische Diebin ist, besteht eben auch kein Raum für epische Konfrontationen und heldenhaften Pathos. Auch von der Welt als solche bekommt man eigentlich nicht viel mit, da unsere Heldin ihre Freizeit ausschließlich in Tonans Taverne zu verbringen scheint, wo sie aber immerhin durch Gespräche mit einigen NPC's einige nette Geschichten zu hören bekommt. Jene Geschichten sind aber in 50 % der Fälle auch nur Anspielungen auf andere große Stealth-Spiele wie Thief, Hitman und Co., welche halt wesentlich interessantere Stories zu erzählen haben. Wäre vielleicht nicht verkehrt gewesen, wenn man statt einiger Anspielungen mehr Augenmerk auf die eigene Handlung und Spielwelt gelegt hätte, hmm?
[h1]Keine Spannung, keine Motivation[/h1]
Ok, um eines noch mal klarzustellen: Ladra ist kurz, sehr kurz! Nach dem kleinen Tutorial-Einbruch, erwarten unsere Diebin gerade mal vier Aufträge, bevor der Abspann vorbeiflimmert. Aufgrund dessen kann man es auch verzeihen, dass Ladra nur einen einzigen, automatisch speichernden Saveslot bietet – oder auch nicht (ich hasse sowas!).
Das Spiel an sich ist schnell begriffen und leicht zu steuern (entweder per Tastatur oder Controller). In jedem Auftrag muss Estella einen spezifischen Schatz ausfindig machen, einsacken und anschließend zum Levelausgang vordringen, um den Auftrag erfolgreich abzuschließen.
Freilich gibt es zahlreiche patrouillierende Wachsoldaten, die ihr dabei einen Strich durch die Rechnung machen wollen. Als Pazifistin ist es Estella nicht gestattet Gewalt anzuwenden, daher beschränkt sich das gesamte Spiel auch auf Schleicherei. Kämpfe in jeglicher Form sucht man also vergebens. Um an den Wachen vorbeizukommen, gilt es also deren Laufrouten und Beobachtungsrichtungen zu verinnerlichen, um im richtigen Moment vorbeizulaufen. Solange man vier Tiles (Schrittflächen) von einer Wache entfernt steht, sehen sie die Diebin nicht. Wenn man sich im Schattenbereich befindet, reicht sogar eine Tile als Zwischenraum. Und Wachen die ihr den Rücken zuwenden, bemerken Estella generell nicht. Verräterische Schrittgeräusche und ähnliche Lärmquellen sucht man in diesem Spiel nämlich vergebens. Estella kann sich ferner Ducken um z.B. ungesehen unter Tresen vorbeizuschleichen oder sich im hohen Gras zu verstecken. Gegebenenfalls verschanzt sie sich auch gerne mal in Schränken, Kisten oder Rissen in der Wand. Manchmal muss man eine höherrangige Wache bestehlen oder eine verschlossene Truhe knacken. Zum stehlen einfach nur hinter die Wache stellen und den entsprechenden Knopf ein paar Sekunden gedrückt halten. Zum Schlösserknacken einfach die richtige Richtungstaste drücken um einen Balken aufzuladen, und diesen anschließend im markierten Bereich zu „balancieren“.
Tja, und damit wäre auch schon alles gesagt, was man wissen muss. Oh sicher, es gibt optionale Schätze zu erbeuten und man kann freilich auch enttarnt werden, doch haben diese Dinge keinerlei Bedeutung. Wird man enttarnt, landet man einfach nur am letzten Checkpoint, welche sich immer bei Raumwechseln aktivieren. Durch diese großzügigen Checkpoints wird zwar Frust vermieden, aber auch jegliche Herausforderung und Spannung unterbunden. Die optionalen Schätze und Schmöker aus Bücherregalen kann man getrost ignorieren, da man hierdurch keinerlei Vorteil erhält. Die dienen nur dazu ein paar Achievements freizuschalten.
[h1]Grafik und Sound[/h1]
Grafisch bietet Ladra nicht viel. Für die Maps wurden die langweiligsten RPG-Maker-Bausätze verwendet, die man sich vorstellen kann. Passt aber andererseits gut zum bodenständigen Stil, den das Spiel anpeilt. Lediglich bei den Sprites für Estella und die Wachen hat man Eigenkreationen verwendet, was zumindest einen minimalen Mehrwert darstellt. Schade, dass man diese Mühe bei den NPC's, denen man in der Taverne begegnet, gespart hat.
Beim Soundtrack siehts anders aus. Hier hat man, so weit ich weiß, grundsätzlich eigene Kreationen verwendet, die auch sehr gut zum Spielgeschehen passen. Der große Kritikpunkt ist jedoch, dass sich der OST zu schnell wiederholt. In den Missionen wird halt irgendwie immer die gleiche Melodie verwurstet, was einem gegen Ende hin doch auf den Keks geht – und das obwohl das Spiel bloß 2 Stunden kurz ist. Dennoch gibt es hier eine gute Wertung, weil es eben keine Musik aus der RPG-Maker-Bausatz-Retorte ist.

Falls ihr es noch nicht bemerkt habt: Ladra konnte mich nicht überzeugen. Das Spiel ist viel zu kurz, abwechslungsarm und unspektakulär, um irgendwas herumreißen zu können. Die Grundidee gefällt mir zwar gut und ich will keineswegs bestreiten, dass Ladra soweit gut funktioniert und mit Liebe programmiert wurde, doch nützt mir das auch nichts, wenn ich mich beim zocken eher langweile. Es fehlt einfach die Motivation sich beim Schleichen und Stehlen Mühe zu geben. Dabei ist gerade dies das A und O bei einem Stealth-Game!
I don't like vagueness of this game. Sometimes the guards notice you, and sometimes not. Sometimes key "Q" do not work. And sometimes even saved game can disappear. So this is the annoying bugs. But the graphics is cute.

A fun stealth game AND it's made in RPG Maker? Sounds unbelievable, but here we are. Worth a look, at the very least. And they even added achievements!
A quick FYI: you can use fullscreen by clicking on the icon on the top left of the window (the games icon) and then going into properties and selecting "Full Screen" (duh) then restarting the game

but in all seriousness. It's fun, intuitive, and (for a 2D game) very well thought out.
While in the darkness you can't just walk right on by some idiot. You have to pay attention and plan your route both as you go, and before you start.
Very interesting and something I haven't seen before in an RPGMaker game, was how they actually had crouching work fairly well in a 2D game.
GRAPHICS:
It's a retro indie game, so i won't judge its graphics to harshly, but personally i enjoy it.
OVERALL:
8/10 It's pretty great, although not necessarily perfect.

Fun little old school zelda-rpg like stealth game.
-So far mostly hide in shadows/stealth.
-Graphics are basic but decent.
-Lots of save points (basically each room)
-Gamepad support, although had a couple small issues.
-Reasonably priced.
Only downside is that it plays in a small screen window.

Ever play a game in the "Thief" series? This is what you get when someone decides to make a Thief game with RPG Maker and it's a fun experience.
No combat, just sneaking through shadows, crouching behind counters and fences, hiding in crates and closets while observing the guards patrol patterns and waiting for the right opening to make your move. Get spotted even once and you have to restart from the last checkpoint but since every room you enter is a checkpoint this is not an issue and the game maintains a quick pace.
Graphically, other than the main character's sprite, the game seems to use default RPG maker assets. If you ever played an RPG Maker game you know how this looks and controls. Nonetheless visual design is clean. Everything is laid out well, for the most part it's clear where you can hide and important details like treasures to pick up or entrances to secret passages are clearly visible. There is also a minimal but decent story about the character trying to sabotage war preparations, it does the job providing some context on the missions and the character's motivations.
On the negative side there are odd spelling errors here and there. Controls are solid but they have some quirks that could have been ironed out (my main gripe is how you have to be completely still to crouch or get up from the crouching position) and early on it requires some trial and error to figure out how the enemies field of vision works. Also keep in mind the game is extremely linear, each room/screen has one solution/route you have to figure out so it's best to get into it knowing each mission is a series of connected stealth/timing puzzles rather than expecting an "open" stealth game.
In conclusion this is a neat little indie title well worht it's full (low) prize. If you're a fan of stealth games and don't specifically dislike RPG Maker games this should earn a cozy spot in your wishlist and hopefully your library. Heartily recommended.

But this one is pretty well done and has the unique aspect of trying to use stealth and shadows to sneak through halls and rooms unseen. It's actually quite fun and makes it feel and play a little different then all of the other RPG Maker games I've played.
There are a few mis-spelled words now and then, but it doesn't detract much from the game. My biggest gripe in the time I've played the game so far is that the escape key doesn't work at all, and I was forced to CTRL-ALT-DEL to manually abort the game. The game saves automatically, but still the ESC key should work as a method of escaping the game.
These are pretty minor gripes, and I think people who enjoy these classic RPG style games will be very happy with this entry on Steam, especially at it's low price point of $3.99 USD. Catch this game on sale, and it's even a better value.
If you are the type that doesn't usually enjoy these kind of RPG Maker games, then the unique steath aspect of the game will not likely make it fun for you, so I'd caution against buying it just for that aspect alone.
Grading this game on what I've played of the game.. I'd give it a 7 out of a possible 10. Recommended for people who enjoy these classic RPG sort of games, and not recommended for people who enjoy fancier/pretty RPGs or more action oriented games.
