A single-player MMO kind of experience that is fun without internet trolls bothering you.

Between this game involving baseball player Curt Shilling to the state of Rhode Island funding the game to it being a "single-player MMO" kind of game, I had to play this game. And so I did, and it was decent. I enjoyed my time with it, but I guess it didn't feel as large as an MMO since it wasn't one. I did like the various attack types and the open-world game play that did feel like MMO-type gameplay, but I often felt that it was a little quiet (again, it might be due to the fact that it's not actually an MMO). Ultimately, I had fun playing the game, but it was surprisingly not too memorable outside of my ring boomerang, which was cool to throw.

The Positives:
-Good graphics and decent controls and gameplay. It did feel like a fantasy third-person action RPG.

-I enjoyed the combat variations from what you'd see in other games. It did have a somewhat unique feel despite its similarities.

-The story behind this game is a roller coaster of emotion. It's an ambitious title, it ultimately failed originally in terms of revenue for cost, but it somehow saw a rerelease years later. I've purchased both versions to support the ambition even though the game cost a fortune.

The Negatives:
-Ultimately, despite being beautiful and fun to fight, it didn't feel as epic as it probably should've. It wasn't bad; it just wasn't memorable for me and so it didn't seem to make an impression.

-As I mentioned, it is like a single-player MMO, meaning that it didn't really have an answer for how sparse MMOs are without quests and other players and such all around.

-While I did switch things up a few times, giving the game variety, I did rely on a couple of old standby combat moves that worked a lot of the time.

Overall, I recommend the game because it's good and it has a wild story behind it that got it where it is. Unfortunately, I can't say it stays with you since I barely remember it after years have gone by since playing, but I do recall enjoying it enough where I can say that it's a good game. It doesn't have anything that stands out to me as being iconic (except for those rings), but it was fun and I think anyone would enjoy their time with it. It's one of those things where the younger you are, the more likely it'll stay with you as a cherished experience (there's some science that says that memories formed when you are 8 stick around the most in terms of long-term nostalgia).
