My partners, friends, and coworkers all know about my very intense and bizarre relationship with this game. I hate this little troll, but I also feel... /attached/ to him-- Desperate to engage with him in a game that only serves to make me angry. When I was going for the No Cheating ending, our final two pieces spent 45 minutes dancing around each other, and I was locked-in the entire time. I thought everything after that would feel trivial in comparison to how hard I worked for the No Cheat ending, except now I'm going for the Ascension ending and it is Worse.
Whenever the topic of indie games comes up, I'm recommending this game every single time. 10/10 this game is my nemesis and my dear friend.

You don't have to be good at chess to finish this game. The concept is original, but the entire game won't take you longer than 2 or 3 hours unless hunting for achievements.
PEAK chess experience, the only better game is 5D chess with interdimensional travel

very fun to play, definitly wouldnt pay more than whats being asked, could probably complete in around an hour, but has other stuff after first completion so its probably about 5 hours until youve fully completed it
Having the troll cheat me and consistently insult me whilst doing so. 10/10 Could not stop laughing when the troll told me the, "the sequel will be harder, this game does not pander to casuals" after stomping me.

Really good and funny strategy game which is not expensive and I think the best chess remake I've ever seen. (with Shotgun King)
The only problem imo is that it miss a harder mod with a better AI for replayability.

I really do recomend this game; brilliant concept. Unfortunately it glitches sometimes claiming false accusations when the troll obviously cheated, so I'm hoping the negative review will inspire the devs to fix it.
For the price point, this game is worth a hour of your time. It's really fun, and working towards the good ending is a wild RNG ride.

This game is really high quality and very polished, it definitely
gives you the "learning chess for the first time" feel and I really appreciate that about it. However this game is quite small you can 100% it in like (2-6) hours but that time feels welk spent and I think this game deserves a purchase if you like fun strategy mechanics or chess.
The game is simple and well designed. Isn't trying to be more than it is. You come to play bad chess with a troll and that's what you get. 10/10 game

It's a pretty fun twist on chess, and beating it for the first time takes about an hour. Getting all of the achievements takes significantly longer and keeps the game fun, but I ran into a small issue where the "wipe save file" button would not wipe my save and I had to manipulate my files instead. Definitely worth it for the price.

King of the Bridge is chess game with some added weird rules like Rooks being able to eat pieces of the same color and Bishops being able to move outside the board. At the start most of these new rules are not explained to you and you must figure them out by accidentally breaking them over a few playthroughs. Once you have all of them you need to memorize them so that you can accuse the nasty Troll of cheating which allows you to cheat back to gain an advantage as getting his King piece is not enough as you need to get all of his pieces to win.
Overall a very fun game to simply play and to get all achievements in I just felt that there honestly could've been some more wacky rules to discover and keep in mind to make it more interesting and complex.
Great fun, wish there were also actual chess with this style

Fun little puzzle game with chess-like mechanics. Can occupy you for an hour or two, or longer if you enjoy going for achievements.
Cool albeit small and short game. Worth getting for a small price if you have 1 hour to kill

A very fun, simple and quick "alternative chess" game anyone can pick up with or without chess knowledge! One of the few chess alternatives where it may be even better to have no knowledge of how the actual game works. If you cheat you get punished with an auto loss, if you catch your opponent cheating you may cheat a turn yourself.
The achievements very unique and fun to do/figure out on your own.
A bit of a bummer that your opponent ALWAYS catches you cheating, it would've been great if there was a small cahnce if you'd be able to get away with it.
A very interesting and charming twist on chess! Fun and unique puzzle game and I think anyone familiar with chess will find some mechanics in this game to be quite humerous.

Don't remember last time I played a puzzle game and had this much fun. This was honestly goated and I highly recommend it to anybody (that likes to think and actually pay some attention while playing games). The humor is as broken as the rules and I absolutely love it ! Not too long of a game to complete and the speed modes are there if you need a challenge, overall pretty balanced in my opinion.
The credits after every victory, however, annoyed me a lot. Would be great to be able to skip after the first time they rolled.

Notes for the dev going forward (I loved the game, but some QOL things to keep in mind for future games):
The menu was a bit unintuitive. I would often go into the settings for 'game' to change the mode, wipe the save, whatever, but getting back was annoying:
1. After wiping a save or confirming the change of mode, I would expect pressing back to bring me to the top menu
2. When it didn't, I often clicked 'game' again, because I thought that would let me play the game
3. When I got out of it a second time by pressing back, I would assume the next 'back' is in the same place and end up clicking 'text'
and I wouldn't remember this so I followed this pattern almost every time i changed a setting. Perhaps have it go to the top menu after confirming a mode change or wipe, let 'esc' key act as a keyboard shortcut for 'back', and have the back button in the same place on every menu layer.
Also. chasing different endings, I often tried to skip the credits, as I'd seen them many times, but skipping them too early caused me to have to sit through act 3 from the start again. Maybe a clear marker of when you can safely skip, or a smart skip button for people who have witnessed that ending before would be nice.
Overall, great game! Keep it up

Very good quality chess puzzle. Plays well on steam deck and some achievements might take longer than others (looking at you juggler and ascension ending). The speed run and speed chess modes were fun. I like when good games don't take themselves too seriously even if they're good enough to boast.
This is a BRILLIANT little game. Deeper than I thought it would be for $3.00. Five stars; would recommend.
