This game is currently not available in steam. I had bought this a long time ago and completed it recently. This game provides an extension into the story if you had chosen Kaori as your partner.
Playing this brought me nostalgia from the previous game and I enjoyed it well. The visuals are the same along with the narrative style. Nothing much has changed and thankfully not gotten worse too.
There are no steam cards nor achievements but that's fine for a VN. If you enjoyed the previous title and have this in your library, you might have already completed it.
This is the only sequel of the Ace Academy which makes prob Kaori the main route in AA.
Too bad they didn't countinued it, this was from the creators the only good "franchise", they had.
Goodbye Kaori 4ever, Bon voyage Pixelfade!
👍
Kaori After Story is a gentle, character-focused visual novel that functions as an affectionate epilogue rather than a traditional standalone romance. Developed and published by PixelFade, it continues the story of Kaori following her romantic route in ACE Academy, shifting the spotlight away from school drama and competitive stakes toward intimacy, family, and the quieter moments that define a relationship once the “confession” phase has passed. From the outset, the game is clear about its intent: this is not about dramatic twists or branching conflicts, but about spending meaningful time with a beloved character and exploring what a relationship looks like when it settles into everyday life.
The narrative centers on a winter holiday trip to Kaori’s hometown, where the protagonist is introduced to her family and the environment that shaped her personality long before the events of ACE Academy. Much of the story unfolds through small, personal interactions—conversations over meals, casual teasing, shared activities, and moments of reflection that arise naturally from being placed in an unfamiliar family setting. These scenes may appear low-stakes on the surface, but they serve an important purpose by deepening Kaori’s characterization and grounding her beyond the archetypes often associated with romantic visual novels. The writing places emphasis on warmth and authenticity, allowing humor and affection to coexist without undermining emotional sincerity.
What stands out most in Kaori After Story is its pacing. The game deliberately slows things down, encouraging players to savor scenes rather than rush toward an outcome. This relaxed rhythm mirrors the holiday setting and reinforces the idea that the relationship itself is the reward. There is very little in the way of high tension or conflict, and when emotional moments arise, they tend to be reflective rather than confrontational. For fans of Kaori, this approach feels earned, as it allows her softer traits—vulnerability, awkwardness, quiet confidence—to take center stage without competing narrative distractions.
Presentation is one of the game’s strongest elements. PixelFade’s polished visual style is on full display, with expressive character art enhanced by Live2D animation that gives subtle motion to facial expressions and body language. This added layer of animation significantly improves emotional readability, making even simple dialogue exchanges feel lively and personal. Full English voice acting further strengthens immersion, lending natural cadence and personality to interactions that could otherwise feel understated. Background art captures the cozy atmosphere of winter settings and family spaces, reinforcing the game’s comforting tone throughout.
In terms of interactivity, Kaori After Story offers limited but purposeful choices. While player decisions do influence certain scenes and conversations, the overall structure remains largely linear, guiding players toward a consistently positive emotional resolution. This design reinforces the game’s identity as a curated experience rather than a branching narrative experiment. The focus is not on replaying to see wildly different outcomes, but on fully absorbing a single, cohesive story arc. As a result, replay value is modest, but the emotional payoff is more concentrated and deliberate.
The game’s length reflects its scope. Most players can complete Kaori After Story in a relatively short sitting, and this brevity is both a strength and a limitation. It ensures the experience remains focused and avoids overstaying its welcome, but it also means that secondary characters and side dynamics receive limited exploration. The story rarely strays from Kaori and the protagonist, which works well for its intended audience but may leave players wishing for deeper interaction with her family or expanded subplots.
Importantly, Kaori After Story is deeply tied to its predecessor. While new players could technically follow the narrative, much of the emotional resonance relies on familiarity with Kaori’s journey in ACE Academy. The callbacks, shared history, and character growth land far more effectively when viewed as a continuation rather than an introduction. This makes the game feel like a reward for long-time fans—a chance to revisit a favorite character in a more intimate, relaxed context.
Ultimately, Kaori After Story succeeds by embracing its role as a heartfelt extension rather than a reinvention. It offers a cozy, emotionally sincere experience that prioritizes character warmth, polished presentation, and the simple pleasure of spending time with someone you care about. While its narrow focus and short length may limit its appeal for newcomers or players seeking dramatic complexity, fans invested in Kaori’s story will find it a satisfying and memorable conclusion that celebrates connection, comfort, and the quiet joys of being together.
Rating: 9/10
Yes.
Why does worst girl get the after story?
It's an okay rom-com visual novel which focuses on the events after Ace Academy. I find it hilarious that I didn't even chose the orange haired gal as my girl to go out with (as she was a short tempered tsundere). I really don't understand these character archetypes where the female character shows her displeasure with you by constantly sh9tting on you, yet she loves you secretly. If I find a gal like that, I'd b7tc+ slap the lights out of her.
Also, there's
Gigguk
from Anime youtube as a guest character for some reason. Overall, not a worthwhile purchase.
After playing ACE Academy, I immediately bought this game as I was so desperate for another look at this world and its characters. And I'll be honest, I was not disappointed. The character model of Kaori is amazing, and the choices that this game offers give you a plethora of content for its price (I did buy it on sale but thats not my point). Also, just pointing this out, this was made in 2018, and is better than 90% of current AAA games today.
absolute cinema
If only it had more
still it was peak
I need more!
This is a sequel to Ace Academy!
Or, actually, if you chose the Kaori route in Ace Academy, Pixelfade's first game, then this is the after story sequel following the same MC and his relationship with the fiery red-haired leader!
If we're talking about story length, this game isn't as long as Ace Academy, Crystalline, or Ethereal Enigma. It's a simple, charming and romantic follow-up to the main story of Ace Academy. This is the first and only actual sequel that Pixelfade has done and I love it when stories or VN type games put up more content that revisit characters that we've already gotten to know and met previously.
As the game description says, Kaori invites you to meet her family for the Christmas holidays and it is a trip to remember! If you do decide to play this game, I highly recommend you enjoy Ace Academy first so that the context for this After Story will make sense. If you have already completed that game and gone with the Kaori route, then you'll enjoy the return of your character and his relationship with one of the main female leads from Ace Academy!
Optional: Playing this at Christmas.
Cute little add-on to the Ace Academy, there's pretty much nothing to complain about since you'd only buy this game if you already enjoyed her route in the previous game. I honestly think the best way to experience Ace Academy is to play Kaori's route then play this game right after.
Wholesome
Just a short and sweet side story following the relationship with Kaori set after the events from the main game. Compared to Ace Academy that this story is based off, the animations, art style, and voice acting all showed major improvements. If you liked Kaori from the main game then you will like her after story.
Steam Deck Experience: Excellent
It was good. A nice little continuation of the Kaori route from ACE Academy. Using Live2D for Kaori was a nice little touch. If you like ACE and specifically Kaori, you'll like this story,
Great for those who loved Kaori.
Pretty short (around 4h per playthrough), but really warm afterstory. Playing Kaori's route in ACE Academy first isn't mandatory, but recommended. Teasing our gold-hearted redhead tsundere and pleasing her when she least expects it is no less fun than it was. Especially since her family helps with it from the get-go (a bit strange, but appreciated nonetheless).
PixelFade knows how to write a story.
-Nice sequel to ACE Academy (Christmas Special)
-Nice Art
-Nice intro/opening
-Good story
-Voice acting
A short yet as much sweet and entertaining story as the other visual novels from the studio. (And I went for Kaori on my first playthrough of Ace Academy, so...) Anyway, great job guys!
Wow Kaori is actually nice when she doesn't behave like a tsundere.
So this might be too much info but I go through really bad seasonal depression and this game gives me something to look forward to. This game and the after story brings me a lot of joy, If the developers ever see this, thank you for making a game that has made its into my holiday traditions and giving me something to look forward to at the end of the year besides getting older. Cannot wait for your next release and please do another holiday after story.
Kaori After Story
Má smysl Kaori After Story hrát bez předchozího hraní ACE Academy?
Není dlouhá a strávíte nad ní jeden pěkný večer.

It's been a while since I've last played a game, and I just wanted to add my thoughts on this beloved little gem:
Kaori: After Story is a short and Sweet Visual Novel where you play as a young blonde guy whom celebrates Christmas with her parents for the first time.
This game was truly romantic and delightful. Unlike other visual novels that have you only looking at an avatar still, you get to see Kaori looking deep into your eyes, as well as expressing every emotion you would expect a human being like yourself to.
This is truly a grounded romantic story, for your choices have realistic impacts. Usually, I myself pick the kindest and most thoughtful endings I can possibly pick, and got the wonderful happy ending, and I was very satisfied with that. I forget how much money I spent on this game, but it was worth every penny, as I spent a good time getting to know Kaori, and experiencing love from the MC's perspective.
The only flaw I found with the game was the preference interface. The automatic scroller for the story wasn't present and i had to click with my mouse the whole time, which was kind of a bummer, because I would've enjoyed just relaxing while I looked deep into Kaori's eyes, but this is a bit of a small nitpick, as everything else about this game was pretty great.
I remember buying this game about a year ago, and tried playing it, being bored to tears by the lack of player choice, but after having put it down for awhile, I can see the real value of the game is your romantic interactions with Kaori. Certainly, I am reminded of the days when I used to date, and how I needed to consider my words and how I said things so that I didn't hurt the feelings of the girl, as I fondly remember how sensitive all of the girls I was in relationships were. Kaori gets offended at you if you say the wrong things, and you can honestly mess up a good time by saying the wrong things, and you can pitch in to the teasing. Personally, I don't like teasing anyone, and this reflected in my playthrough, for I was kind and nice to Kaori, and wanted her to be happy and always smiling, and she was for the most part.
Great Game, Very Reminiscent of real relationships, yet still romantic in a dreamy sort of fashion. Simply Enjoyable, thank you developers for such a slice of sweetness in this finely crafted visual novel.
A great addition to an already entertaining story from ace academy. It definitely gives an extra bonus if you chose the Kaori route in the previous game. I would definitely recommend this if you enjoyed ace academy. Its very humorous and has all the things you love about PixelFades creations; compelling story, fun humor, interactive options, and more. From a long time fan, Well done again PixelFade, keep up the good work.
It's an alright game. Pretty short and kind of boring. Still, it was nice seeing their relationship develop more. But, as some other people have complained, this sequel was a good opportunity to show off more intimacy between them but it didn't (That dream part was so disappointing).
They added a bit of animation to Kaori when she speaks which was a nice touch. Her sprite also looks higher quality than Ace Academy. While I did say it was a bit boring, the dialog is still amusing at times. Seeing Kaori get defensive and flustered is something that never gets old.
Idk if this was a problem on my end because I don't see it mentioned anywhere but I wasn't able to scroll to backtrack the conversations. That's a must have for VNs where the choices give different dialog lines. So idk if they removed it or if my game was bugged but I couldn't do it.
Also, the BGM music reset to max volume every time I restart the game or loaded a save. I'm also unsure if that's a bug or something they need to fix.
Overall a decent game. Definitely must buy if Kaori was your favorite from Ace. The price is a bit much for what it is. I would wait for a sale to pick it up but I do recommend reading through it since it's quick one.
If you played through Ace Academy and played through Kaori's route then you'll love this small sequel. It's filled with a lot of wholesome scenes and sweetness to absorb you into the atmosphere.
grant
super small game but the art and small movements of the charecter was good
Swiggity swoogity
It is more or less a romcom ending for Kaori route from Ace academy. Once again I learned the hard way that I should read descriptions more closely before buying something even on sales. The problem with this game is that is not actually a proper standalone. It really needs Ace academy to be played first. It is also way to fluffy for my taste. It is just a 2 hour ending which should be there in the Ace academy in the first place (I know I know that they could not make it due to the funds restrictions but still...) It is nicely done though and it retains original atmosphere.
This was really cute. this just makes me fall in love with Kaori even more.
This was well made, although a bit short, i still enjoy it. Thanks, Pixelfade

Fun but short.
About a 2 hour read for a single playthrough. Compared to the original this one had a nice comfy feeling to it. Nothing amazing but still worth a read if you enjoyed the original.
the type of content i expected from an after-story. very satisfied
If you loved Kaori in Ace academy then you'll definitely love her even more here, it's a short one but really wholesome and heartwarming
Its short, sweet and simple if you followed Kaori's route from ACE Academy. Personally she was my least favorite route because I think there was lack of affection in her route compare to other girls. Valerie and Yuuna stole the show so I wish devs would have made a after story about them. But I'll admit this game fixed many of the Kaori issues I had with ACE Academy. Still I think her ship with that daycare member sit very well if you don't follow her route.
I'm going to be completely honest. As an sub anime watcher, playing this is dub was excruciating for me at first lol (I don't think it has an option to play in Japanese/couldn't find it). But as i continued playing i eventually got used to it and found it funny and touching. I got absorbed into the story and had a blast while playing this. Therefore, I'll give this masterpiece a 9.5/10 rating. Also, yes you should buy this if your wondering. Why? bc... "YOU HAVE A BLONDE FACE" (You'll understand if you play LMAO)
I LOVE KAORI A LOT
this game is sort of an add on to ace academy. one of the characters called kaori. i played this game before ace academy, didnt know it was supposed to be played after. so if youve played ace academy, and your interested in kaori (or even if you arent) this is a fun visual novel to check out. it is same quality as everything. just a fun extra if you liked ace academy. just get it
Beautiful after story.... I'm out of words...
Extremely cute story and very fun to play through, would reccomend! its good
Highly enjoyed and made me want to go back and play ace academy again, would seriously buy a remake of ace academy if it also had the live 2d, looked so good!
Big fan of ace academy and of Kaori
I am completly Speechless
The after story is even more beautiful and so well written if you played "Ace Academy" beforehand and optet for the Kaori route.
I was really touched about the Ending and the whole story was so heartwarming.
i really hope for the second part of Ace Academy so we can finish the story we begun.
One of the Best Visual Novels i played
Good work PixelFade Studio
Ba.. ba.. BAKA!!!!!!
if you like cute romance anime or cute romance games then your going to love this. it was short but sweet and very very cute. It will also remind you that your single because yes you are single your playing an animated romance novel on steam.
10/10 you'll enjoy it
best girl no doubt
Bought this game on a whim, and i'm glad I did! The story was insanely good, though its only worth playing if you played Kaori's route in "Ace Academy". 10/10 would buy again.
Uwu
Pretty much a perfect "flirting with your girlfriend" romance visual novel. There are some pretty funny scenes in here, and also lots of cute, romantic scenes and shows a precious side of Kaori.
Only thing I'd criticize is that the game window is different than in Ace Attorney. The sprites are also different, but I don't mind much because the new sprites are pretty good.
SYDSNAP SUPREMACY 【6.5/10】
A great after story that I find myself playing every year around Christmas as it's perfect for the season .
Ah oui !
Short story but like omg that was cute asf. Her family is so awesome to meet with and I went with the ring route, a total yesss from me!
A great ending to a great story, can't wait to play whatever else PixelFade puts out.
worth the time and money
I love fireworks :D
The ACE Academy universe has been expanded and boy, what a great visual novel this was. Kaori After Story was just a joy to read and play, it was so adorably touching and heartwarming to see how the after story unfolds. The art is absolutely gorgeous, especially the final part of the VN. The story is just so pure and cute, and the music is super upbeat a lot of the times. The replay ability while isn't a big highlight of this novel, but it's still worth playing it over and over again for the cute moments. The Voice acting is amazing and quite possibly the highlight of this novel. Kaori's VA did a phenomenal job as well as the VAs for Kaori's family. The dialogue and comedy were just adorable and hilarious throughout the entire novel, with tons of cutesy and cheesy writing. The model for Kaori was very well done and surprised me by how good it moved and expressed! It's a shame we only got Shou as the only person returning from your group, would've been cool to have a choice to call who for choosing a present for kaori. You could've chose either Shou, Yuuna, Valerie, Mayu, or even Nikki to ask for help with finding a gift. And it would've been a cute cutaway if you got a call from your uncle, asking if everything is doing alright over there. I think these moments would've been great as it would be nice to hear those familiar voices again. Either way, I really enjoyed Kaori After Story. It was heartwarming, hilarious, adorable, and romantic, although I wish the novel was a bit longer. Well done PixelFade! You never disappoint! Hopefully with this VN, there's the possibility of more after stories for the other ACE Academy girls??? Please??? That would simple be amazing!!
After playing through ACE Academy, I knew I had to pick this game up. (I initially went through ACE Academy with Valerie's route but also played through all the others to see the unique interactions). I think Kaori was a fine choice for a follow-up to ACE Academy's story since Mayu and Shou ended up together in most routes. This game was perfect for me since I'm a sucker for both comedy and romance. The Yandere trope isn't my personal favorite but I think it works very well in this game as opposed to ACE Academy. Perhaps it's because in this game, Kaori and the MC are already in a relationship, but her character just seems more complete. As a sucker for romance, the winter village getaway and the final fireworks scene were amazing and I definitely teared up at the end of the game. My two cons of this game are 1.) the last day where you just basically play a VN within a VN was kinda boring as I wanted to spend more time with Kaori and 2.) the length of the game is fairly short. I understand that the point of this VN wasn't supposedly to be a super fleshed out story, and was instead supposed to be a romantic sequel story of ACE Academy. However, even though I was thoroughly satisfied and pleased with the ending, the shortness of the game leave me with a desire for more. I probably feel this way though since I am a sucker for romance and I just wanted to see that played out for as long as it could go. Hopefully PixelFade can come out with a full-length romance VN very similar to this so I can get my full fill of romance. Overall game is a 9.5/10 and would highly recommend to anyone who played ACE Academy in the past
OK, just finished this game already - 1 day after completing ACE Academy.
A great little extension story for those who are fans of Kaori (myself included :))
The feeling of experiencing romantic activities during the Christmas season with Kaori as well as her family is really fun, emotional and precious.
Although this is not a sequel as many fans of ACE Academy would like, I am still glad that the developer has never forgotten the first game - their first child :) This game was a great gift that developer gave to their community after 2 years of waiting. I still hope that more games related to ACE Academy will be released in the future. I am always ready to continue my journey at ACE Academy with my friends as well as my love.
Farewell Kaori, Valerie, Yuuna, Mayu, Shou, Nikki and all other characters! Until the day we meet again!
Now it's time to start the next journey: Crystalline!
Gives you all the feels. 10/10
Wholesome, well-written and enjoyable story. Warm fuzzies!
this is good but it also makes me realize how lonely i am
I was never into Visual Novels.. until recently. I thought I'd give ACE Academy a try and I ended up loving it so much that I ended up playing PixelFade's entire catalog. Three times.
I love this After Story in particular. It's short and extremely sweet. Made me laugh. Gave me feels. It was truly touching and I wish there were more After Stories like it. I'd love to meet Yuuna's parents or Valerie's mom or Mayu's dad, you know?
I highly recommend this game AFTER playing ACE Academy, both are well worth it imo.
Sweet and heartwarming 84 minutes of closure for a great predecessor game.

the story is really cute and refreshing, and the intro is a blessing to the ears (its called winter's light and it's on spotify too)
10/10 its a good continuation to Kaori's ending from Ace Academy

Excellent ending to the Ace Academy according to me. Filled a place.
Lovable sequal.
Short and sweet! Very cute game. Love the music!

the Story is both heart warming and uplifting. its also refreshing to see this kind of story is still being told.
Note: if you don't get some of the references or understand some of the names, I would say its very recommended to play ACE Academy as its the first game for this 2nd part.
if you like boring games, this is for u. the story is so painfully boring i literally cannot play anymore.
KAORI IS LOVE,KAORI IS LIFE
FIRST OFF- Play Ace Academy.

If yes, PLAY THIS GAME.
If not, there is no point getting it. This is pure Kaori just Kaori with her family too. MUST BUY if you are a Kaori fan!! 10/10
Just perfect. A perfect wholesome, heartwarming side story of ACE Academy.
More ACE
This is a pretty cool sequel to the main game, I really hope the developers do something similar for the other girls!
Amazing game to play especially if you got her route in Ace academy which i got on my first play through through if you havent played ace academy take a step back and pick that game up first you will definetly enjoy this game so much more with the context when playing through this game you can defintely see the teams growth from the last game to this one the voice acting is amazing as well as the animations definetly a good game to play
good game
It's basically a story about how life would be if you chose Kaori in the previous game. It's relaxing. Nothing too special or fancy.
I would've been happier if they made one with Valerie though.
If you want to see kaori's magnificent behind, this is the game for you!
Great ending to their story
super hot fire
This was very Enjoyable and really hope to see an Ace Academy 2 come out. I know the story was pretty much complete but there is still more you could do for how MC dad died and pursueing the people who did it or make a Military Arc where MC joins the Military with they one they chose as romance. Although my dreams of this happening wont happen i can still dream right?
If you played through Kaori's route in Ace Academy then you should definitely play this as it continues her story.
I enjoyed the Kaori route in Ace Academy. Having Kaori After Story in the PixelFade bundle was really nice. The art improved and the motion animation for Kaori helps it be more lively and expressive. At the start, I was a little sad I couldn't use space to go next like in Ace Academy but then I discovered I could use the Enter Key so yayyy. I had a great time and only wish for more content!
A great continuation of Ace Academy. A tad short for a visual novel, but it's supposed to be more of an epilogue than its own story, so that's not a problem. I will look forward to replaying around the holidays for years to come.
