Great concept ruined by terrible execution
Intruder could be a fun tactical stealth shooter, but the actual experience is rough. The player base is extremely low, so finding a decent match is a struggle. And when you finally get into a lobby, most of them are locked or full of veteran players who have every map memorized. If you’re new, expect to get stomped by campers who know every angle, every sound cue, and every cheesy spot.
The learning curve is steep in the worst way — not because the mechanics are deep, but because the game gives you nothing to practice with. There are no bots, no offline mode, and no way to learn the maps without being in the heat of battle. When the game relies so heavily on map knowledge, that’s a huge problem.
Thoroughly fulfills the secret agent fantasy.

An amazing stealth tactical shooter that doesn't take itself too seriously. You will feel both on edge and will be dying laughing at the same time. Best played with a large group of friends.
Best 10 bucks I have ever spent on a shooter, though not really worth it if you don't have a large group to play with, since the game is kind of dead, which is a shame.
Very much do recommend getting this game if you're starving for a Splinter Cell-esque Spies vs Mercs kind of game that isn't too comptetitive.

I saw the trailer for Checkpoint and thought the whole game was like that. But both sides feel the exact same to play, most matches are just slow paced gunfights with minimal use of tools or environment. Thieves start with the same type of guns as the SWAT teams so it doesn't really matter what side you're on.
Only plus is the comms system is innovative
The game dosent tell you where you are located on the map, the graphics are meh, and the tutorial dosent necesarily tell you the keybinds for certain things.
Ignoring these small mishaps, the game does certainly seem interesting. But what should i know? I only played for 43 minutes.

don't waste your money on this game, hit reg is also absolutely awful, shot a guy 4 times point blank and apparently "balance" makes the gun shoot 90 degrees up which then, because the other guy was crouching he could instantly 1 shot me with what is apparently the meta (a shotgun)
Very good example of asymmetric PVP. Not quite polished, but clearly a labor of love. A refreshing change from the basic FPS formula.
G.O.A.T. Stealth Game, severely under-rated with the occasional player bump when streamers play it back in the day. Still gets updates, has a decent amount of players again and is just super fun and simple.

Ok so I've played roughly close to an hour but I feel I've played enough to give it a review. If you merged elements from rainbow six siege (some not all) and put Splinter Cell the Spies vs Mercs Mode together along with stealth mechanics you get this game. Typing close to 12am MDT which is 2AM EST I can safely say there are enough players on at all times for you to find a game.
A lot of people play private match but there are also public games. Doesn't seem to have any cheaters at all or at least I haven't found any. I won two matches in a row and even eliminated the other team by myself once as an Intruder. If you got good aim you can win in this game or just be sneaky and catch them while they're turned.
I do recommend it. It does need some improvement in explaining what the gadgets do and what not but besides that the tutorial is decent and the levels are solid. It's a fun game and an alternative to the Spies vs Merc splinter cell which is not available unless through community methods.
I give it overall a solid 9 out of 10 from my early impressions.
Really great game, next to no bugs, runs smoothly, you can tell the devs love their game, and as for gameplay it's really fun, the gunplay is unique and pretty good, the controls are good, and the in game voice chat makes for a great addition.
It's a fun game don't get me wrong. There's competitiveness in it that reminds me of Rainbow Six Siege, minus the zoomers constantly saying racial slurs.
My main concern is how it's supposed to give that "Spy versus Mercenary" vibe that made Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory such a great multiplayer. It doesn't quite scratch that itch nor is it remotely similar. Both sides start off with weapons depending on the game mode. Sneaking and infiltrating is kind of redundant when you can expect where the enemy will come from and camp them. Daylight changes through the game so there's only a small window for actual nighttime.
TTK is fast, which isn't a problem and is only worth noting. There's no objective markers on the screen for both teams so you kind of have to know the maps or just stumble around until you locate something.
These aren't issues for me at all and I just want to mention them: Friendly fire is on and you need to visually recognize your team's clothing. Not a problem for people who have played EFT or realism shooters like Squad.
It's very random how you can shoot someone though and they can get back to their feet if you didn't fully kill them. Make sure to double tap or empty a mag in them lol.
Overall it's a fun game, especially with friends if you can manage, but I wish it straight up copied Splinter Cell's multiplayer.

Peak, you actually have to use strategy like 90% of the time. Its preferred to have a large friendgroup that owns this game to have the full full experience but 2v2 or 3v2 works too

While the community is bad, the cheaters are worse - a lot of basic issues limit the game, but the most obvious is choosing netcode that does not code its network ;) - you always get to kill the guy who killed you, but he also gets to kill you - you got loony toon time then everyone gets everything that happend.
If you mention the netcode issues you get a steam forum ban from the game dev, but this reviews the games issues. Truly strange choices (Pistol > Shotgun) (Hands beat ballistic shield) and such, which a child could fix with a change of a number, are unfixed for several years.

This game takes some getting used to and I'm pretty bad at it, but the Spies vs Mercs idea is a great format and there's a lot of charm to this game and an active mapping community as well.
I've had this game since before it came to Steam back when it was only sold on the developers website. It's an incredibly fun game when you're able to find matches for it. Unfortunately that isnt an easy task these days. Even at its peak on steam it only had ~1400 players and now it averages 90 or less.
I absolutely recommend it if you can get a big group of friends to play, but i wouldn't buy it if you don't have that.
The mechanics are great. A balance mechanic so you can't just run anywhere, tactical stealth and fun gadgets.

It's pretty good. Love the variety of mechanics and equipment, and the ease of access to use them all throughout a round. There's room to play creatively and strategically in a variety of ways.
It will leave you really wishing the community were a bit larger. Depending on the time of day, there may be 1 or 2 lobbies in the US region. Sometimes there are no lobbies, though you do see password-protected lobbies with some players.
After enough hours, it will start to leave you wanting a little more content, a little more variety, a little more polish. It's a pretty solid and fun experience regardless, for being in early access.
Although custom maps don't get played very often in the public lobbies, there seem to be some pretty solid options out there.
