Really great visuals and fantastic music, story and atmosphere
It pains me to leave a thumb down...

Game starts off quite well, but the moment it introduces the shadow that closes in on you, the experience kinda falls apart for me. It makes the game far less about the puzzle aspect and puts the emphasis on traversal execution. There are too few checkpoints and it was a frustrating experience that took me many sittings to fully complete this frustrating game over some years, being a masochistic completionist. The E-Z Achievement is still taunting me.

I guess in a way the experience of playing this game is on theme,
because I really felt like dying at many points

(game not complete at 1.1 hours at review time, part of my review all my games effort)
(short version)
A gravity puzzler with a serious/depressive plot line. For $12 you could do much worse; A big + is many levels can be won in different ways.

(long version)
I like it, I don't love it, but it kept me entertained for about an hour before my brain started getting frustrated. If you're not in the mood for a depressive story this one might be a game to steer clear from.

The good: Levels can be won (often) in different ways, the game is a serious challenge, achievements (as of Dec 2025) are mostly golden due to lack of completion on this game. $12 is a good price for the game.

The bad: If you're not in the right head space this game may upset some people going though various issues. Some of the additional level threats (i.e. the darkness) can feel unfair at times, but it's part of the level to make you feel rushed so I get it.

I like the soundtrack that balances In Between fails and success solving the jump puzzles. Some puzzles are cruel and I didn't like that, was hoping something more fun but with fate and facing the darkness they can be solved, In Between I died many times and the transitioning from death to life brought a smile with patience that i liked very much. Bulmaca oyunu oynamak isteyen istek atsın!

Finally, after a long time, I can say this game is perfect: with its mechanic of changing the direction of gravity to overcome obstacles and reach the door at the end of each level, combined with a realistic, poignant, and melancholic story in the background, it’s a flawless puzzle game. Each level introduces extra features and new challenges that seamlessly replace the previous ones to keep the pace from slowing down.

Ключевые особенности:
Вам необходимо проходить платформенные сегменты, благодаря способности менять гравитацию на всю локацию, что порой немного меняет уровень. Гравитацию можно менять вверх, вниз, вправо и влево, но только тогда, когда персонаж стоит на каком-либо объекте.

Минусы:

- Из-за арт дизайна иногда не замечаешь шипов, которые отправляют тебя на контрольную точку. Есть двери которые после нажатия платформ закрываются сразу, а некоторые нет. И они выглядят абсолютно одинаково. То же самое можно сказать и о других элементах некоторых уровней. Такое встречается не постоянно, но если модельки объектов выглядели бы по разному, это могло давать информацию игроку при первом взгляде на этот самый объект. О истинной работе элементов уровня можно узнать только постфактум, что назвать хорошим решением сложно.

- Нет возможности отдалить камеру, или же посмотреть в какую либо сторону. Камера иногда отодвигается, но только если так захочет сам разработчик в каком-то конкретном сегменте. Происходят ошибки игрока тогда, когда он это не может контролировать.
Еще можно добавить что в сегментах с тьмой, если на которую не смотреть она будет приближаться и убьёт героя. Особенно в этом сегменте чувствовалась не хватка отдаления камеры т.к. когда ты находишься над или под тьмой, то и разогнать ее не можешь. Благодаря камере, ты мог бы заранее у себя в голове построить маршрут, но иногда ты просто не можешь не смотреть на тьму из-за условий игры. Приходиться запоминать локацию постфактум и частично на ощуп.

- Сюжет с самого начала хочет развить у игрока сочувствие к герою, но как сострадать к персонажу, которого ты еще даже не знаешь? Да, это задает тон истории но можно было бы не говорить и не намекать так прямо игроку что гг болен раком. Потому, казалось бы трагичная судьба, в моем случае выражала скорее раздражение, чем сочувствие.
Так же можно добавить, что сюжет подается не предсказуемо и не стабильно. Иногда можно слишком застрять на определённой локации и выпасть из контекста сюжета. А просмотреть фрагменты памяти которые появляются на экране повторно нет никакой возможности. Предлагаете искать на ютубе для возвращения в контекст? Смешно. Игра не должна отвлекать тебя от экрана и все необходимое должно быть в игре.
Еще стоит сказать, что сюжет начинается с буквально последних часов жизни главного героя. Но при этом повествует историю жизни не от конца, с которого мы собственно и начали, а с самого начала.

- Со 2 главы начинают регулярно сегменты, где приходиться ждать секунд 15-20, что бы продолжить проходить экран. Ждать медленно едущую платформу или кружок гнева, который просто убивает если к нему подойти и т.д. Было ощущение что игру специально растягивают, дабы прошедший не успел оформить рефанд.

- Иногда не совсем честные хитбоксы. Порой тебя убивают шипы тогда, когда ты вроде бы их не должен касаться. Впрочем, бывают и обратные случаи. Ни то, не другое, честным назвать нельзя.

Плюсы:

- Арт-дизайн, в целом, неплох. Не могу его назвать выдающимся, но смотреть на картинку вполне приятно. Именно приятно, но не более того.

- Сюжет подается очень дозировано и аккуратно. В целом, тон истории задаётся неплохо и понятно. Опять же, звезд с неба не хватает и не без вышеописанных огрехов, но приемлемо.

- Головоломки интересные и изобретательные. В целом много гимиков которые регулярно миксуются между собой и не успевают приесться. Само решением ЛИШИТЬ игрока прыжка в ПЛАТФОРМЕРЕ очень смелое. И что не мало важно, у разработчиков это получилось! Геймплей действительно вполне самодостаточен и прыжок просто не нужен. Игре и без того есть чем развлечь игрока, что бы тот не скучал. Некоторые головоломки действительно заставляют пошевелить серым веществом + игра любит вызывать у игрока чувство кризиса, когда нужно торопиться, иначе придётся начинать заново. Хорошее решение, определенно похвально.

- Музыка не цепляет, но что-то в ней точно есть. По крайней мере, она очень подходит атмосфере игры, задавая правильное настроение. Да и сама по себе вполне хороша. Как и саунд дизайн. Но вот его уже похвалить не за что. Звук как звук, ничего особенного.

- Игра работает стабильно и без багов/вылетов. Другие игроки на это жаловались, но лично я такого ни разу не встретил.

Итог:
Даже я, совершенно не фанат платформеров-головоломок могу признать что геймплей по настоящему уникален. Не без огрехов, но в целом в игру можно играть и получать удовольствие. Не будь всех тех проблем, что я описал выше, я бы определенно прошел игру. Но, увы, рефанд.

We are made of no more than dust of dying stars; when we die, we return to our stellar form, to become the seed of new life. 没想到这个游戏在2024年末，通关率大概只有5%。用今天来衡量独立游戏的标准来看，关卡设计并不出彩，操作手感并不流畅，叙事和氛围感塑造得也比较粗糙。

但是，玩的时候，我的手边放着库伯勒罗丝博士的《论死亡与临终》——于是，还是下了决定准备通关并给个好评。抛开玩法和关卡，好像这个作品透露着一股朴素之气。好像这就是一段临终病人的随访、一段也无风雨也无晴的走马观花。也许这番自白便是他预备踏上这不归之旅的最后一丝休整。随即，他在这绝对的平静中再次化为尘埃、化为孕育新生命的种子。

那个男人是否会感慨，他后继有人、后生们人才辈出？

포기. 게임 플레이가 너무 번거로워서 재미가 없습니다.

상하좌우로 중력의 방향을 변경해 벽과 천장을 타고 목적지에 도착하도록 하는 퍼즐플랫폼게임입니다. 퍼즐은 목적지까지 도착하기 위한 중력변경과 이동의 수순을 맞추는 방식이구요. 챕터마다 대표기믹이 있어서 플레이방식에 변화가 생기도록 했습니다.

퍼즐 난이도는 쉽지만 맵을 일부만 보여주고 조작에 제한시간을 걸면서 타이밍재기를 요구하는 경우가 많아 지나치게 번거롭다고 느껴져 그다지 즐길만하지 못했습니다. 퍼즐은 단순한데 그 답이 맞는지 죽어가면서 짚어가야 된다는 게, 썩 유쾌하진 않네요. 자꾸 제한시간을 걸면서 조작실수를 유도하는 듯한 부분도 싫었습니다.

기대했던 플레이와는 많이 다른 느낌이었습니다.

Bought this game ages ago...never tried it. Started a little over two hours ago and I. cannot. stop.
The story is captivating, the controls are marvelous, the graphics are wonderful. I did not want to stop until I helped the protagonist finishing their journey. 10/10! This is a must buy if you enjoy puzzles and a good story.
PS. You're going to die...A LOT, but it's okay because the levels are short and you start right over again.

一定要玩到第三章（Bargaining），在此之前我觉得这是个好游戏，把父母对孩子的爱写得很好，但看到这一章我被男主和他老婆双向奔赴的爱情震撼到了。不光是文案写得感人至深，游戏玩法也一样是“双向奔赴，在考虑自己的同时还考虑对方”，真的不能更赞。

这个游戏最厉害的一点就是100%的代入感，第一章被黑暗追赶我觉得很恐怖，第二章总是被那个红气球追来追去很气人，这两个章节的难度都非常大，大到劝退，但到了第三章，老婆知道了男主生病了，从这里开始游戏难度骤降——有个人在遥远的地方关心着你，帮你开启一道道门，为你送去一只只渡你的小舟，直到你们两人重逢相拥。

这一章关卡难度下降是个非常好的设计：一个人面对一切很难，有个人和你一起面对就会容易很多。

男主是个无足轻重的小职员，没学历，没钱，被报社当成牛马累出病，但在女儿的画里爸爸却是超级英雄。男主对老婆说希望死后把这幅画带到另一个世界。

“文案=人生经历+关卡障碍”这一点很像Braid，但是相比起Braid我更喜欢这个，简单地刻画父母对孩子的爱，夫妻之间的爱情，却感人肺腑。

这种沉浸式剧情也让我想到了《去月球》，但我不喜欢《去月球》，因为回想起来一地鸡毛，只会觉得母亲很偏心很讨人厌，觉得无辜的女主很可怜，却感受不到男女主之间的爱情。

In Between 胜出是因为它足够简单，没那么戏剧性，也因此足够真实、真挚。

这是这十年我玩过的最好的游戏，如果满分是5分我想给这个游戏6分。

Lo que realmente destaca en In Between es la forma en que integra la narrativa con la mecánica de juego. ¿Manipular la gravedad? ¡Hecho! Pero espera, también estás navegando por las tumultuosas emociones de un hombre enfrentando su inevitable destino. Sí, justo como cuando intentas decidir en el supermercado entre las papas fritas y la ensalada. Además, el arte estilo dibujo a mano da un toque distintivo que parece gritar \¡Soy especial!\

Aunque la idea de batallar contra la gravedad es genial, alguna que otra vez te encontrarás luchando con controles que parecen tener una mente propia... algo así como tu gato cuando le llamas por su nombre. A esto se le suma que algunos puzles pueden hacerte sentir más perdido que turista sin Google Maps, necesitan un poco de equilibrio para no causar un aneurisma cerebral.

In Between es un juego indie de puzles con unas mecánicas bastante originales y retadoras.
En el aspecto gráfico, a pesar de no ser espectacular, denota que se ha depositado mucho cariño en su desarrollo. Sin embargo, por algún motivo, su estética no acaba de convencerme. Cumple de sobras con su cometido, pero el diseño de los dibujos no me resulta demasiado atractivo.
La banda sonora está bien. Las melodías no son pegadizas, pero cumplen a la hora de acompañar a la historia con una cadencia relajada que casa perfectamente con el argumento y dinámica de los niveles.
La jugabilidad es excelente. El personaje responde perfectamente y con gran precisión a nuestros movimientos. En un juego de este tipo, donde cada movimiento puede ser crucial y la gravedad se altera con cada uno de ellos, eso se agradece.
La dificultad, en cuanto a los niveles, sigue una curva más o menos ascendente sin llegar a límites desesperantes. Irás avanzando poco a poco, sin quedarte prácticamente encallado en ningún momento. Sin embargo, manejar las 8 direcciones de movimiento (4 para caminar y 4 para la gravedad) con soltura puede ser algo complicado y necesitarás de un par de horas antes de empezar a sentir que empiezas a tenerlo controlado.
La durabilidad, de unas 8 o 10 horas, es más que correcta. Conseguir todos los logros puede llevarte el doble de ese tiempo, así que tendrás bastantes horas de entretenimiento aseguradas.
En definitiva, estamos ante un juego que te encantará si te gustan los juegos de puzles con mecánicas originales, por el buen diseño de todos sus niveles. Sin embargo, personalmente no me acaba de convencer la estética de las animaciones entre fases. En su argumento se tratan temas muy profundos relativos a la vida y a la muerte y lo veo muy interesante en ese sentido. Sin embargo, estamos ante un drama en mayúsculas, así que si no tienes ganas de escuchar las desgracias malrolleras de la vida, mejor elije otro título. Desde luego, en cuanto a las mecánicas y al desarrollo de los niveles, como juego de puzles, lo recomiendo sin dudarlo.

2D puzzle platformer with a story mixed in with it. Most mechanics are not explained but are very intuitive, and there are enough of them to keep the game feeling fresh; although some "chapter" mechanics are underutilized or sometimes used in the wrong ways. No difficulty setting, but the last few difficult levels of every chapter are skippable. Solid game all around.

I am 32 years old.

My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.

When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.

Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.

With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.

After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.

Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.

Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.

Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

I originally purchase this game 7 years ago but have not gotten around to playing it until recently. It's been so long I don't even know why I originally purchased it, but it was most likely during a steam sale. I mainly played it because I was looking for a random game in my backlog and picked one that's been sitting there since forever.

The reason I bring this up is because I am not sure if I would have fun if I played it back then, but I do know I didn't really have fun playing it now. The levels can be frustrating. Some jank or missing timing by half a second can cause you to do the entire level again. Some levels do have a checkpoint though.

The story is good, and while I didn't have fun I also didn't regret playing it. The game is frustrating, but considering what it is abot it may be meant to be like that. Overall the game will probably last you about 4 hours depending how difficult you find some of the levels.

God I love me a good depressing game but I didn’t know it was going to hurt so much.

I first played this during quarantine, and man the story was intense. I love how it embedded the 5 stages of grief into each section. Really cathartic for where I was emotionally at the time.

I adored this game! I really liked the style and I found the story totally engrossing, and ultimately devastating. I also thought the stages of grief were wonderfully incorporated both into the game-play and into the dialogue (some of the things the protagonist says between levels and within the levels themselves really got me).

It's great because of the personal perspective it offers, as well as the education it embeds, regarding such topics. We learn empathy by walking in the shoes of others, and games like this allow you to do just that.

I found the controls fine and I very much enjoyed the maze-like levels and the puzzles they contain. Though to be honest, I really wish the story had been put into a Walking SIM format like "Moose Man" so we could get more of the story more consistently.

It can get really challenging from the start but it's worth it, specially during a sale which you can get it for as low as $1, that's less than a bottle of coke! Gotta admit that there’s a lot of games that can suddenly become pretty good when they're that cheap!

If you are not those kind of people that say "I can't wait to get to depression" vote not.

In fact, I'm finding hard to enjoy this game because of it's theme, but the levels are different and the puzzles are nice. So I'm giving it a positive in case others who find the depressive story more enjoyable can play it.

You have levels with limited visibility where you have to face one side to keep the shadows from getting to you, you have levels more oriented to platforming with moving obstacles and fast moves and levels where you have to control a mirrored character that are quite interesting.

I was so on board with everything this game started laying out during the tutorial. The artstyle, the music, the intriguing (and depressing) premise accompanied with great voice acting. The tutorial explaining the gravity shifting mechanic was enough to hook me into the promise of all the puzzles this game has to offer. But things quickly fell apart once into the 1st chapter…

Firstly the main character model (while visually fantastic) is a bit clunky to control. He takes long strides while moving around. Problem is: this game is borderline pixel perfect in its requirements of jumping around the “spikes” in the levels. If one hair of your character model brushes against a sliver of the spike - dead, restart the level. Which in itself is fine (see Super Meat Boy), but the model's long stride makes it difficult to position yourself (in contrast with Super Meat Boy’s incredibly tight controls). Many times while positioning myself for even the most simple of jumps, I would accidentally brush the spike and have to restart.

Now keep all that in mind while introducing the mechanic of the first chapter: a “timed” restraint put on your character in the form of a black wave that starts to consume the screen (unless you are looking at it directly, which in fairness does push the wave back). This mechanic is incredibly frustrating. The levels are obviously designed to place your character in bursts of motion that prevent you from looking at the wave, meaning you have to fly through them pretty quickly. But with pixel perfect precision…and clunky character movement - not a good combination. Further to this, the levels get complex very quickly with blocks and spikes that can be altered in different ways via gravity manipulation. It would be nice to have a few seconds to catch my breath and examine the puzzle a bit before jumping right in (and almost certainly dying immediately). In this sense it feels like the game becomes muscle memory/memorizing precise controller inputs rather than “solving” the puzzles.

I get wanting to be a difficult platformer (again, I loved Super Meat Boy). But the gameplay here is not nearly tight enough to justify playing through these long, checkpoint-sparse levels.

✔️ The game is pretty enough, with a distinct art style, and nice piano soundtrack.
✔️ The narration is pretty intriguing, for what I have seen of it.

❌ The movement fluidity is a bit clunky - it would be manageable on its own but...
❌ WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP PUTTING TIME-INTENSIVE MECHANICS IN THEIR PUZZLE GAMES WITH ROUGH CONTROLS??? Seriously, I was kinda enjoying the game, and then they introduced that creeping darkness mechanic that advances when you don't look at it, and suddenly the experience became hellish. Not only it is very easy to make positioning mistakes that make you die because you lost too much time, without even clearly understanding where you made a mistake exactly, but also the darkness itself is very difficult to read - there isn't any clear border that marks the moment you die from it. It made me give up on the game.
❌ Also got an annoying bug when after a death I spawned in the darkness and I had to die repeatedly until I restarted the level...

So, yeah, I don't recommend. I'm not against time-sensitive actions in puzzle platformers in general, but having to deal with it when the game's fluidity is less than ideal, when the timer isn't clear, and when missing the timer makes you restart the level... This really sucks.

- Buen estilo artístico.
- La narración es una parte importante... y la voz inglesa está muy acertada.
- Los puzles están bien, ya que en cada parte del juego cambian un poco las mecánicas para poder ir haciendo otras cosas.

- Algún bug me he topado en la cuarta parte del juego donde ha tocado resetear la partida.
- A pesar de la cantidad de puzles... el juego es breve.
- La historia... cala si eres sensible :(

Un gran juego que te cuenta los estados de duelo y como se viven. Dese luego, muy recomendable para el precio que tiene.

I am about 5 hours into this game and a little over halfway through it. I have really been enjoying my time with it. The graphics are very appealing and add to the experience. But game play is what sets this title apart from other platform puzzlers. The interesting physics concepts being explored are fantastic. Moving with one stick while controlling the gravitational flow with the other stick translates into a game play that is challenging but fun. If you don't like dying in games this title is probably not for you. You will die consistently often. But with each death you try and learn something new. I highly recommend giving this game try.

This is a pretty imaginative and great Puzzle Platformer with a deeply plotted out message. Couldn't ask for anything more. The Gameplay was crafted to give the player autonomy in the narrative that was the focus. The gameplay is also really fun. This game needs to join your collection along with Braid and Super Mario Brothers.

In den Level gibt es leider keine Checkpoints und wenn ich dann in jedem Level zig mal sterbe weil ganz am Ende eine Frame daneben war oder ich eine Millisekunde zu langsam war, dann kommt der Erzählfluss leider ins stocken. Mir ist völlig unverständlich, warum das Game da so völlig unverzeihlich argiert. Ich würde gerne die Story erleben, komme aber nicht dazu, weil ich mich durch die Level knobeln und navigieren muss. Selbst wenn ich bereits verstanden habe was das Spiel von mir will, muss ich das Level immer und immer wieder wiederholen bis ich es perfekt geschafft habe. Das die Steuerung selbst mit Controller nicht 100% perfekt ist tut sein übriges. Macht insgesamt leider wenig Spaß, wenn man nur die Story erleben will, dann lieber ein Lets Play anschauen.

I didn't have many expectations coming into this, but what I got was a short little gem of a game about navigating and coming to terms with one's death. It's a bit pricey for its runtime, which can be completed in about an hour or two unless you go achievement hunting or want cards, but would be well worth it in a sale for the music and atmosphere alone. Highly recommended for puzzle platformer enthusiasts.

I've played for over a hour and for the most part it's a very good game the controls have to be a bit tricky if you forget and push the wrong key you will find yourself died if you get it for a good deal you can't go wrong

The premise is good - I like both the story and the game's twist on the puzzle-platformer. I did find some of the early levels surprisingly difficult, to the point where I nearly gave up and uninstalled the game. But I pressed on and found many of the later levels much easier. I appreciate that the game lets you skip the last few (extra difficult) levels in each 'chapter' so that you can continue with the story without getting too frustrated. In the end I did go back and clear all the bonus levels too, but the narrator's comment about losing your dignity in the process really hit home as I was grinding through that very last level.
