It was kind of a fun game, but I can't really recommend it because it's buggy.

I got regular crashes, I could rarely play for more than an hour before it crashed. I finished the game 4 times and in one run through I got a quest I couldn't complet. In an other one, I went over the meter (kill X of a specific enemy) and the quest failed when the timer ran out. As long as it's not the main quest, you just lose out on some reward, so it's not the end of the world. But it's annoying. Since this is an "old" game, I'd be very surprised if any of this was fixed. If you're still interested in this game keep that in mind.

One of the best survival apocalypse games i ever played even this game is solo only.

1) a lot of weapons (melee, pistols, submachine guns, machine guns, flamethrowers, sniper rifles), and every weapon has a durablity, so you need to repair it later (or sell/dismantle)

2) different rarity of weapon that define damage and amount of slots for weapon mods (you can upgrade rarity of every weapon with materials)

3) all weapons have mods up to 8 (when you rise skill that allow to have up to 8 mods, by default you can have 5 modes, so you can buy them from traider or loot, they will increase damage of weapons a lot.

4) a lot of skill that will increase your health, damage, range (you cant have all of them, so you need to decide what way to play and what weapon you will use)

5) you have disease right from the start of the game, so you need to use a cure every certain moment of time or you will die. you earn cure by killing infected or traiding.

6) 10 different characters (perks) from the start, so you decide which one to go

7) the best part of the game - you can recruit NPC/companions (up to 5 during the whole game, and depends of perk you took in the beginning) and they will follow you and help to fight against infected:

* you can give any weapon you want to any companion
* every companion has a skill tree, when you make any actions in the
game or they kill infected -they will level up, and only you decide what
skills you will upgrade
* you can apply any mods for companion's weapons
* companions have a backpacks, so when you loot a lot, they will pick up
items when you dont have a free space in you inventory (later you can
sell or dismantle)
* companions - are main firepower especially for hardcore runs.
* some simple commands for companions - follow, hold position, attack

8) bosses and short events when you can get Unique weapons (even the best weapon in the game is Legendary that you crafted from zero by adding mods you want).

9) campaign around 25-30 hours if do not rush.

10) usual campaign (4 difficulty) where you can die and will start from the beginning of the location and Hardcore campaign (4 difficulty) where if you die - its game over and need start from the beginning.

11) subway that will allow to travel fast between different locations.

12) great music.

So this game has everything you want: shooting, looting, exploring, traiding, repair system, a lot of different skills/doctrines, and companions that can carry you through all difficulties with any weapon you want to give them.

Note: i dont recommend to jump on high difficulty from the beginning because it can be frustraiting experience, better start from normal or easy to learn game mechanics.

It is a highly ambitious Diablo-like game set in WW2. The Germans have released a mutating zombie virus in the U.S. and now the apocalypse is nigh. It's ambitious because it adds many unique ideas to the genre, most centered around survival. Added things include: Night and day cycle where the nights get so dark you can't see, Fatigue that forces you to rest inside houses and buildings or else you suck at combat until you do, and weapons that need constant repairing and maintenance.

The problem is all the interesting ideas just aren't very fleshed out. The visuals are all very bland and grey. It is a bit of a very ugly game. There are many things that are not explained, even though this game has a tutorial mission. The tutorial didn't let me know that I could upgrade weapons or upgrade skills multiple times. There was a lot of stumbling through the game and finding out things much later than I would have liked to. The story is told through a lot of text, so much small text and so much reading. Towards the end of the game it really falls flat. The game ends anticlimactically with the final level just throwing a ton of boss enemies that are the most retarded bullet sponges I have ever seen. The difficulty curve goes way too extreme on that final level. The difficulty is slowly ramping up as it should then says ♥♥♥♥ we are going to end this game so lets push things to the extreme! Instant kill you bosses galore, and will take so many bullets to kill that the game will cycle through a day/night cycle before one of them goes down... All for the reward for beating it, a cliffhanger sorta we might (never) make a sequel type ending. Really, the final areas of this game feel slapped together just so the developers could say it was finished.

But in the end, this game gets a thumbs down for having way too much ambition and not enough polish.

As others have noted, I Shall Remain actually looks like it could be an interesting game. Unfortunately, it feels and plays like an early Beta and was clearly not finished. Text is way too small to read comfortably, levels are way too dark, sound is broken (only music is playing), and the game blue-screens every 10 minutes.

It's very original, I'll give it that. But way too ambitious. It tries to cover everything to the point of overwhelming the player, while not polishing any of the mechanics. Found myself lost constantly. The camera angle is confusing, the lighting is awful, can't see ♥♥♥♥,
It tries to mimic some of the classics like diablo and half-life, but you can tell that it will fail right away from the awfull story-telling text. I wouldn't normally hold that against it, but the gameplay is very frustrating as well, so it's a no-go from me.

Okay, sure the graphics are a little difficult and the controls take some getting used to (I'm stuck behind a tree AGAIN?) but it's a fun game. I wasn't expecting it to be a looter shooter, but here we are, with me comparing flame throwers for DPS vs features. There's a sense of urgency for most of the game (I understand at some point the urgency gets removed via plot, and you can go grind if you want, but I haven't got there yet). The gameplay is solid, the characters aren't bland, the music is good, and it's got some international indie charm. Plus, who doesn't like setting Nazis on fire?!

I give it a solid thumbs up.

Yet another isometric zombie basher with limited story but endless killing and an occasional boss battle. The art style may be a bit too dark and dungy for some, but I like it. Though the controls are easy to understand and use, no one in their right mind will say the same about the clunky camera controls.

The developers boast of the game's RPG features. Lots of perks don't make a game an RPG. True, your actions will affect what perks open up. But if you are only given one choice (a melee weapon} it will be no surprise if you open up melee perks. Besides, adding numbers to stats don't make compelling perks. Being allowed to choose your stats and special skills from the start, along with your preferred weapon, could have made it more of an RPG experience. Getting special attacks or abilities would have made for much more compelling perks.

How about that quartet of gaming features I love so much (loot, exploration, combat, crafting)? Loot is plentiful enough, but often useless. Combat is no more complicated than hitting one of your keys at the right time. Exploration reveals shadowy dark corners of an unspectacular city. If crafting exists, it isn't evident in the early game. One of my favorite features of other post-Apocalyptic, settlement management, is also missing.

How can a positive review be so negative? Because there is a lot to hate here. Much of the game is quite pedestrian. Much of the game will not please a lot of people. Much of the game can get very boring very quickly. For me the effort to add RPG elements to a isometric zombie game and the unique look of the gaming world makes this an adequate game.

So as the old adage goes, buyer beware. And buyer buy cheap.

Mid-tier graphics and minimal combat variety are balanced out by decent writing, solid RPG mechanics, and a well made soundtrack.
If you're cool with simplistic gameplay in exchange for a fair bit of depth in your rpg, then I can safely recommend this. Makes me think most of the Hunter: the Reckoning games.
Only thing that could make this genuinely better would be multiplayer.

This game does many things really well. Atmosphere, customization, Isometric RTS and team management. It also does many things poorly, like non-linear quest breaking, poor Windows 10 support, and some haphazard design choices.

But that's why I downvoted this game, I downvoted the game because I've played it for 23 mostly enjoyable hours, but to finish the last few achievements I would have to play over 70. Multiple additional playthroughs, including some on No Death mode, all because the harder achievements dont retroactively accomplish the easier ones.

I'm a completionist, I can't justify that, that is poor design. It appears that the devs had the opportunity to do some quality of life tune-ups to the game and decided to halt the polishing process early to move onto their next game. I do not approve.

I Shall Remain is a hybrid ARPG/adventure game with a post apocalypse zombie survival theme. Survive on the streets after an outbreak turns most of the worlds population into zombies.

There's a reasonable potential for the game, with inventory management, RPG progression, top down action combat and so on. The graphics and artwork are also reasonable.

The problem is the delivery here isn't of high standard. The game needed a lot more bugfixing and polish before being launched, and it doesn't seem any of the outstanding problems will be fixed. For me, the game crashes after alt+tab, which is a dealbreaker in this decade or the last one.

It's always the biggest shame for any game when it gets so close to being tolerable but the developers phone in the last 2% of effort needed to push it over the line.

This game is different, interesting and fun. It has a story just for the tutorial, then you continue as a different person from the tutorial for the actual game. It has nice atmosphere, and some interesting systems for getting more powerful, and of course, lots of loot! I didn't know about the flashlight, so when it first got dark I couldn't see anything. It's unfortunate that this game isn't more well known, it's unique enough with solid gameplay, and a compelling narrative driving the character on. The music is very nice, though sometimes it's too front-and-center. I may see if I can turn it down a bit. The full price is $11 CAD, I got it for half that. It's worth the full price.

It was okay, but I didn't finish the whole game. Seems to have plenty of side quests, people to meet and loot to discover. Has some annoying time limits that force a completionist like myself to rush towards specific mission objectives to reach them in time. It was a bit stressful, but the gameplay itself is pretty fine. And you can see the developer wanted to create a good, complex plot and background for the events.

If you like feeding zombies & monsters some bullets and explosives in 3rd person view, I Shall Remain could be an alright bit of entertainment for you.

The concept of the game is interesting, but I felt something was missing. The player aims to find his brother where he gets to know various characters (where he is able to do several side quests), locations and monsters. Being able to recruit companions and customize them the way you want. But throughout this process the locations vary but it becomes very repetitive (killing monsters > moving to the next area and repeating the process again and again), the combat system I found a little clumsy and frustrating, the AI of the companion for some reason is not good at all, because even being right next to him with several enemies he doesn't attack for some reason. I missed vocal interactions with other characters. When I realized I was not enjoying playing the game, I put this game aside and move to the next on.

Это плохая [b]ARPG[/b] — лучше поиграйте в [b]Grim Dawn[/b].
Это плохая выживалка — лучше поиграйте в [b]Subterrain[/b] (в ней грамотно реализована система инфекции, к слову).
Геймплейно к этой игре ближе всего [b]Survivalist[/b], которую я тоже рекомендую.

Тем не менее, игра хорошая, но я рекомендую вам использовать программу [b]ArtMoney[/b] для комфортного старта игры. Дальше будет нормально, но для тех, кто принципиально не читерит, я подробно объясню ОГРОМНУЮ проблему.
У этой игры сломанный баланс на старте.
Обучение не объясняет, как надо готовиться к походу, а запороть прохождение через час игры из-за недостатка валюты — это нормально.
[u]НЕ[/u] запороть совершенно легко, но ты не знаешь, где и как найти первых напарников (а найти их легко). Не знаешь, во что лучше вложиться — в снаряжение (и какое именно), либо оставить на лечение инфекции.

«Ядро игры в лице диаблоида» позволяет постепенно развиваться и формировать билд под ситуацию, преодолевать сложности через повышение знаний и переосмысление тактики. О, нет, это не про эту игру. В ней ты умираешь с каждой минутой, тебе нужно тратить деньги на лечение саморазвивающейся инфекции. Лишняя минута может привести к тому, что ваш сейв будет запорот. И это проблема самого старта игры.
Хотя система способностей, близкая к [b]Fallout[/b], может сильно ослабить персонажа из-за неправильного билда... Который в другом диаблоиде можно было бы сменить и перекачать, но тут нельзя сбрасывать перки, зато можно постоянно получать очки для открытия новых.

В упомянутом [b]Subterrain[/b] инфекция имела две особенности: ты мог неограниченно лечить её из-за возобновляемых ресурсов для крафта таблеток, а герой заражался только в случае ошибки игрока: либо игрок пошёл на риск и съел заражённую еду, либо плохо следил за боем и получил удар от противника, который имеет высокий шанс вызвать заражение, при этом чем слабее удар, тем меньше получаешь заражения, и оно прогрессирует очень медленно, и тем быстрее, чем выше стадия, а таблеток всегда хватает.
[b]I Shall Remain[/b] про другое, но система инфекции здесь тоже имеет свои особенности.

Тем не менее, при ОЧЕНЬ скачущем балансе для новичка это худший способ замотивировать игрока... А НА САМОМ ДЕЛЕ, по заверениям разработчиков, это НАМЕРЕННО СОЗДАННАЯ ИМИ проблема в начале игры. Просто почитайте это обсуждение.

Действительно, далее валюты будет предостаточно (уже на десятом уровне прокачки игра станет плавной для вас), но для многих людей такое начало становится непреодолимым порогом и может попросту запороть сейв для вас.

What is I Shall Remain?

Difficulty: 2/10 - 10/10 - depends on selected difficulty
Length: up to 30 hours to complete the whole campaign, more than at least 100 hours to unlock all achievements
Mode: singleplayer campaign, singleplayer Last Man Standing
Similar games: Fall Out 1&2, Cold Zero, Survivalist, amongst others

What's good about I Shall Remain?

- apocalyptic atmosphere
- infection of the main character that needs to be cured as a dynamic factor
- lots of upgrades to unlock (called "doctrines")
- well designed side quests which will improve certain skills upon completion
- boss monsters with special loot

The negative aspects:

- not that much weapon and item variety
- weapons break and infection level rises fast - which make especially higher difficulty levels pretty tough
- sounds are pretty basic
- unlocking all achievements requires at least 10 full playthroughs

Result (and summary for those who have no time reading):

A well made Action RPG, I Shall Remain provides lots of important ingredients for a motivating game: special loot and boss monsters, many upgrade options and side quests make up for fighting a zombie apocalypse in an atmospheric NYC setting. Being infected yourself, time is an important factor. On the other hand, the game lacks item variety and conditions can be harsh - your weapons do break fast. If you're in for achievements, bring some time - to get the 100% mark, you'll need 10 full playthroughs.

Very unique storyline with excellent Progression system.

게임영상으로 보면 마치 에일리언슈터와 같은 게임으로 오해할 수 있으나 전혀 비슷한 게임이 아닙니다. 파밍과 랩을 하면서 시나리오를 진행하는 게임인거 같은데 일단 20분정도 진행하고 이 게임을 하차하려 합니다

우선 조작방식이 너무 어색합니다. 위에서 주인공을 내려다보는 3인칭방식의 게임이지만 조작방법은 1인칭 게임에서 주로 사용하는 방식으로 되어있어 처음에 게임을 시작할 때 '어 이거 뭐지'하는 생각이 먼저 듭니다. 그리고 허공을 가로지리는듯한 타격감등 모든것이 어색합니다. 이 게임이 얼리엑세스라고 해도 추천하지 않았을것입니다. 비추.

Review: The concept is fine and the pieces are mostly in place but crashes randomly. AI is ineffective, loot and skills balance seems off, game is too easy, assets too recycled and plot too derivative and also hard to follow. Game does not look as good as the promo art on the store page

Behaves like a hack&slash diablo style game with spamfest of clicking combat. You can breakdown loot and repair other loot based on skills. You get perks as you level up and stats are autoattributed. You seem the same kind of zombies and streets over and over. Pathfinding on the A.I. is dumb and with a minimum of attention to ressource management or just by kiting a little bit while meleeing you will breeze through the game which is pretty boring. Combat is not kinetic, not strategic. just click click click. The minimap and quest marker works okay but the town boils down to a bunch of corridors through a bunch of uninteractable buildings with the occasional exception of a building that has doors opened and is full of zombies. I tried the campaign after defeating the tutorial and it was just more of the same with a plot about managing your infection. It is easy to miss plot development as they are text only at the bottom of the screen and you are usually managing the action in the main play area.

I gave this game another go after a couple years of it sitting in my Steam library, and on I think my third or fourth play attempt I finally was able to get into it and enjoy it quite a bit overall, so I'm changing from review to thumbs up from thumbs down. This game is still really frustrating, because it could be so much better with some fixes. Here are some big problems that make the game challenging to get into and like:

-- It's way too hard in the beginning. The devs even posted on the message board saying the initial sewers that come like 20 minutes in are one of the hardest parts of the game. That's crazy to knowingly put one of the hardest areas of the game at the very beginning when players have no idea what they're doing. I'm sure many people abandoned the game at that point. The infection/serum situation also seems hopeless in the early stages of the game before you finally turn a corner and start collecting enough serum to avoid a death spiral where high infection levels make it impossible to fight effectively in order to collect enough serum to lower your infection level. I still strongly think that making the serum you need to keep your infection under control also the game's currency at shops was a bad idea, but it gets manageable once you get a few levels under your belt and you realize you need to be selling almost every weapon you pick up.
-- The lighting situation is just totally broken. It is utterly pitch black at night, and flashlights are almost useless because they hardly light up anything and batteries (which are very rare drops) are used up in like 10 minutes. And you can't just wait until daytime to explore because your infection level is constantly rising, and a high infection levels means you can't fight effectively, so if you don't keep fighting and collecting serum, you quickly get into an unwinnable situation. I ended up often just navigating the maps by looking at the minimap and ignoring the actual game screen, but even that gets very frustrating because there are way too many fences and barriers all over the place that block you that don't show up on the minimap. This game is like 10X more fun when it's daytime and you can see than when it's nighttime and you can't. If they just eliminated the whole day/night cycle the game would instantly be much better.
-- Companion AI doesn't work reliably. I played with a character setup that allowed me to have three other party members besides me. You split experience among the party, so that meant everyone individually was always way under-leveled but together we were very effective. Areas on the map give a recommended level for them, so like Newport says recommended for level 28, but I went into that stage of the game at level 20 with my three companions between around 18-20. The four us together did fine. The problem was that the AI companions would just regularly break and stop fighting. I'd enter a map, and one, two, or sometimes all three of them would just stand around while enemies were right near them and wouldn't fight. So sometimes I'd end up having to do almost everything myself against enemies that were much higher level than me. I could never figure out what caused the AI to stop working, but it seemed like if it happened it wouldn't get fixed until you changed maps or even quit and reloaded the game sometimes.
-- Forget trying to use guns and just spec your character melee or unarmed. You can only hold a limited amount of each type of bullets and bullet drops are uncommon, so I was out of ammo for the gun type I was trying to specialize in more often than not, which was very frustrating. I had a lot more fun when I changed to a melee character with three gun using companions, since companions have unlimited ammo.

With those problems with the game out of the way, if you can get power through them, there's a very good game underneath them struggling to come out. The character and story writing is excellent. Other than superheroes, zombies is the laziest, most unoriginal, overplayed genre there is, but this game actually manages to do something original and entertaining with it, which is extremely rare these days. The gameplay is a lot of fun when it's working right and it's not too dark to actually see what you're doing, and the character development and RPG elements are original and work very well.

Aslında oldukça yarım bırakılmış ve eksikleri çok. Görevler, oynanış ve arayüzdeki karışıklar giderilse acayip güzel bir oyun olacak. Söz konusu eksikleriyle birlikte artık oyun da iyice zorlaşınca ilerlenemez hale geliyor. Ancak yine de birkaç saat idare edecek keyifli bir oynanışı olduğundan ve atmosferi veren harika müziklerinden ötürü olumlu oy almayı hak ediyor.

I got this in a bundle at some point. Maybe I'd be into it if it had launched 10 years ago. This game looked interesting and has good potential but there's a lot of room for improvement. Most notably, the sound design: melee and gunshots have no impact, so it gets old really quick. I gave it a chance by doing the tutorial and starting a campaign but I'm barely getting any enjoyment out of this.

I think I got this game in a bundle but I can't remember lol

Not my cup of tea. Surprisingly so, considering I grew up playing similar games and enjoy most settings involving "zombies". But this game, seems to be missing everything to keep me engaged. The combat is far from satisfying, and I feel like I'm confined to small areas with very little real exploration. Yes, I know, most people will say 1 hour isn't enough to gage the potential of a game like this. And to that, I would disagree. This is a generic isometric "RPG", but does the bare minimum in most aspects. Possibly attributed to a small dev team, or lack of budget but either way. I won't play a game where I feel like I'm forcing myself to continue for a glimmer of "I might like it once something happens". To me, forcing myself to get to the "good" part is always a bad sign. For that reason, I cannot recommend this game.

Al comenzar el juego pense que me iba a encontrar con un juego similar a Survivalist (joya oculta de los juegos de zombies) pero version mas lineal. Nada de eso, un juego demasiado basico y con un sistema de presentacion rudimentario en el modo de combate y los menus.
Los enemigos son simples zombies con alguna variacion en la cantidad de daño que aguantan y que dan. La pantalla es demasiado oscura y la unica forma de ver objetos para recojer es que son pequeñas imagenes del mismo item, desentonando con el escenario. Los lugares para revolver y encontrar items estan muy ocultos, la unica forma de verlos es por un pequeño detellar de puntos flotantes alrededor de ellos.
Para nada recomiendo obterner este juego.

the story is sorta nice there are some bugs while playing but the crashes my biggest issue with, when the game it crashes in full screen in a way that damaging to my pc without warning and not in full screen the game runs a little better but more bugs occur as other windows apear out of screen were i can't move onto the main screen to use i would recommend the game if it wasnt for the crashes

I really wanted to like this game. I like the diablo combat style and what not but unfortunately the graphics are killing it. Not graphics quality, I honestly don't care about that at all. Its just that its so difficult to see anything. The first level is very annoying because its so dark and you are just trying to learn the game. After you learn the game a bit you can play in that near total darkness since some of the zombies glow and I think all of their eyes pretty much glow. Although it is playable like that , I find it sort of confusing as to why the devs made it so dark. Its not really scary, just annoying. I can also tell that the game kind of hurts my eyes after a while, even in the daylight its sort of a glum, greyish pallette.

Its not that it makes it difficult, its just frustrating and not fun at all when you have to strain to see anything. All the small graphical detail appears to be actually pretty good, too bad most of the time you can't see ANY of it because of the darkness. Everything else seems very good...the levels, guns, loot, etc. If they change the lighting, i'll change the review to positive.

And yes I know about the aging effect meter. It doesn't fix the problem, just slightly makes the game less annoying.

update: Playing on windows 7, the game crashes approximately every 15 minutes or so in the middle of a level. This, combined with not being able to really choose when to save the game, lowers the playability by alot. If they had just allowed the player to choose when to save this wouldn't be an issue, but I am constantly losing progress in the middle or near the end of a level. Also, the manner in which the save data is recorded seems questionable. Sometimes after a crash, I'll restart in the middle of the level, but all the loot that I collected during the first half of the level is missing. 2nd half of the game seems very rushed. There are parts of the map that are shown as being off the map yet I can walk in them. Sometimes I can glitch through entire areas and be walking outside of the game map. 2nd half seems to lack balance. Certain weapon types like explosives seem to be unfinished. This type of stuff is what I'm used to for an early access game, not a full release.

If they do a sequel why not make some of it randomly generated. A RNG game with this combat system would be absolutely awesome.

Unfortunately I think I read somewhere it doesn't play well on windows 10 either, so I don't know what system this game is supposed to work properly on?

I wish to congratulate the developers for delivering such a great product! I've just finished it, it was great and satisfying to play and i'd reccomend it to anyone who wants a challenge (play it at hard). For those who are not sure what to think, don't let yourself fooled by the appearence of the game, remember it is an indie game created by a romanian team with very little resources. The depth of this game is beautiful at it's core, believe me, just start to dig the story bits by bits and you will certainly be hooked. And, oh, the story! Such a common subject developed in such a dense and personal level. Just try the game if you want hours of fun and challenges (play it at HARD) !.

I would also want to thank the devs for quickly answering my post on the games forum when i ranted about how hard and unfair it is. It's not like that even if it feels that way in the first hours, just remember to also upgrade your squads stats and you'll be set for the road! It is that kind of game in which you must make the best of it with only the few resources you have, so if you like "This war of mine" or "Darkest Dungeoun" I'm sure you'll appreciate this game also!

It is true that the game has some little issues, but overall they don't really affect the gameplay. Also, another little (big) downside is the ending. I expected some more, I really did, but it was kinda blunt and unexpectedly simple, man!. Anyway, a strong 8.5 from me (not a game criticist, evaluate the game yourself if you think it's worth it)!

As a conclusion, the game is worth your money, fellas ! (hard difficulty, don't forget)

Great game, did a playthrough where I only used fist weapons and I let my AI teammates wield the deadlier weapons, needless to say I was carried and loved every single second of it. 10/10 would let AI carry me again.

Freezes every few seconds, just long enough for me to get hit before I can kill something. I've changed settings, the resolution, and whether it's fullscreen or not, but it still does it.

Getting around during timed events is too difficult because the map makes no sense and you can only see two feet in front of you.

The menus feel really convoluted and the explanations in the beginning don't make them any easier to understand.

Plus the constant pressure of things approaching and attacking you makes it difficult to read the dialogue at the bottom of the screen; not sure what I'm supposed to be focusing on.

Pretty much the only good thing I was able to experience before I just closed the game in annoyance was that I was able to maintain a decent framerate. Except, of course, when it had to climb back up from 30-ish after being at 0 for about 2 seconds.

Well, I'm 3 hours into the game and it looks promising. It's a fun survival game with tons of customization options, a decent enough, albeit not amazing story and somewhat repetitive gameplay.

TL;DR Definitely worth a check if you're into survival games. Otherwise, you will still find it fun, but you may get bored after a while.

Pros:
+The customization options are very diverse and complex (sometimes as far as they become difficult to understand)
+The story is good enough to keep you interested (though the narrative thread is a bit shaky)
+Tries to create a background story for all the monsters, activities etc
+Realistic infection process, fatigue and night/day cycle
+Has several difficulty mods, which make it truly challenging
+Pretty large map, with fast travel available between locations

Cons:
-The fighting may get repetitive after a while; it all depends on how much you like survival games
-The sound is not so diverse

Neutral:
-So far I have not been able to determine how much of a difference your choices can actually make
-The camera could have used some customization options

Overall, I would give it an 8/10.

For most people, some of the games Mechanics, and Graphics are off putting. (even with the graphic option "Aging Filter" fully off, does make it more appealing, and vice versa) Compared to newer ARPG's this games graphics, and combat is outdated. Missions can be confusing to follow, the game gets way to dark, and your flashlight dies fairly quick leaving you with a pitch black screen, usually at the worst time possible, with floods of enemies attacking you. With all the bad said, if you stick with this game, and give it a chance, most will enjoy this game. The leveling, and item mechanics in this game, such as repairing, enhancing, and how resources are used. Does add more appeal to this game. Overall its not that bad of a game. Given a chance you will see how unique this game is to all other ARPG's. Its really a hate it or like it game, personally i would recommend it. But ask no one to blame me if they dont like it lol..

Sadly if you get far in this game you realise how unfinished this game is. I stopped playing due to horrible glitches preventing me from continuing. I did enjoy the game up until that point. To bad this game doesnt utilize Steam Workshop. This game is fun but needs a lot of fixing..

Coole Idee.
Itemdrops fühlen sich sogar nach Zufall an. Habe keinen Level 2x gespielt, um zu prüfen.
Pausenfunktion ganz nett

Leider:
- Schlauchlevel
- einige "One Hit Wonder" Gegner
- wenig Freiheit
- ungünstige Perspektive (man fühlt sich wie ein Jedi mit Augenbinde, wenn man unter Bäumen kämpft)
- beim Fernkampf ist das Zielkreuz 2m vor dem Char (Treffen Glückssache/Bulletspamming)
- Aufnahme von bestimmten Items nur auf Knopfdruck (Muni / gibt keinen Grund sie nicht aufzuheben)

Wer auf Zombies steht, dem empfehle ich mal Project Zomboid(MP) anzuschauen.

Simple ideas for a little gem of its kind.

There are many zombie survival within the market but this one stands out enough to the gameplay and the various things to do.

Survival Mode, for example, is interesting as well as the history itself and are also a nice mix between shooter (with different weapons available) and survival as we are used in other games, it also contains:

- Excellent char leveling system with various perks and abilities.

- Zombie and Monsters of different types including bosses and miniboss with different sizes.

- Main and Side quests with interaction between the various NPCs.

- Create and manage a team.

- Dynamic events with system rewards.

Obviously there are some bugs and imperfections, for example, sometimes animations are trivial and cumbersome, you may encounter problems starting the game (of course there are already solutions to make it all work) and also the lack of a crafting/building system can be a problem ( replaced with different skills like repair and modification of objects ) but in my humble opinion and for the price of the game, it is really worth it if you're looking for a game where kill many zombies without neglecting the survival element.

Recommended.

P.S. In Story Mode, you must also keep an eye on the bar to the virus does not die, you can also set the difficulty of the game and Hardcore mode on/off.

[i]I Shall Remain[/i] is a Post Apocalyptic Action Role-Playing game with survival aspects. Set in an alternate history at the end of the Second World War, when Nazis managed to release a deadly virus over US territory, the game tells the story of two brothers and their intricate relation with the apocalyptic world that emerges in the wake of the disastrous Z0M81 pandemic.

The first thing that I loved in this game is the graphics. They are sharp, there are a lot of details in the map and it really reminds of an old city like London for example. Another amazing aspect worth mentioning is the day and light cycle and the weather changing system that it also affects the mood of the characters. The soundtrack of the game fits the title perfectly and it creates an atmosphere of mystery.

Moreover, the weaponry in this game is really enormous. From melee weapons to grenades and shotguns everything is there and can be found scattered in the game. The total number of weapons is over 30 and each one has 4 different levels. Each weapon can be upgraded and repaired if needed! From time to time also the game offers you the chance to enter vehicles and tanks and defend yourself to larger groups of infected.

The game offers a really enjoyable experience and [u]I totally recommend it[/u] especially if you consider how cheap the game is.

主人公が感染してて、血清が必要。その血清がゲーム内通貨。
血清は使えば使うほど使用量が増えていく。
スキルも豊富で、銃、鈍器、火炎放射器、手りゅう弾、回復、夜を照らすライトなどなど。
仲間にスキルを自由に振れる。パッシブスキルもかなりある。
初めのうちはすごく楽しかったけど、進むにつれだんだんとボロがではじめる。
使い回しのようなコピペマップ、敵ゾンビの種類の少なさ、終盤につれ硬くなるだけのゾンビ。
終盤は血清が、敵ゾンビから多く取れるので、普通のRPGの通貨となんら変わりない。
残念なゲームでした。

I'll admit I've not spent a lot of time with this - for a couple of reasons...

1 - the 'deco' font used for tips is genuinely hard-to-read (esp on larger resolutions)
2 - another font used in dialogues isn't much better (if they'd stuck with 'typewriter' we'd have been fine)
3 - sound effects are terrible-to-non-existent - this makes combat feel weightless and boring
4 - muddy visuals/hard to see what's an enemy/sidekick - things lost in smoke/blood effects etc.
5 - really slow pace (which doesn't help when added to the boring combat)

It's clearly an unbalanced affair - some effort was put into plot and dialogue but I'd argue that's not what people play ARPGs for - they play for boom-click-thunk!?

Given the number of other games which do that (same setting, same zombies etc.) I'm struggling to see why we need one which doesn't give that?

This game is wrought with the talent of the developers. The soundtrack is unbelievable, the writing superb. 3d isometric shooter: combining the nostalgia of a different generation of gaming with the thrill and effects of modern gaming. The atmospherics are incredible! I highly recommend this game.

PS I can't rave enough about the sountrack; dude should be writing scores for big-budget films.

Les premieres minutes de jeu j'ai trouver sa immersif, la bande son etait agreable, et je prenais pas mal de plaisir a explorer ce petit monde. Bon sa c'etait les premieres minutes comme je disait.
Ensuite on se lasse vite, j'ai trouvé le gameplay de plus en plus lent. Le systeme de visée est hasardeux, le systeme de dégats n'en parlons pas.

Les menus et la map sont plus que simpliste, on ne sais pas vraiment ou on va on est constement perdue, sa peut etre considerer comme de la survie, moi j'ai desinstaller au bout de 5 heure de jeu justement pour que mon pc survive.
Je ne recommande pas.

Qual é a minha opinião final sobre I Shall Remain? Não é um mau jogo, mas também não é um bom jogo, se calhar porque eu já estou um bocado farto do estilo e no que diz respeito a matar zombies de um ponto de vista pseudo-isométrico já joguei melhor estes últimos meses. Numa lista de jogos considerável para jogar, este não fica no top 10 de jogos novos, ou antigos com os quais prefiro passar o meu tempo.

Ce jeu est excellent! Les graphismes sont bien, les musiques sont géniales et les textes sont vraiment immersifs :Q Si vous vous débrouillez en anglais et que vous aimez les jeux de survie ... vous pouvez y aller les yeux fermés!

Pour moi, ce jeu est un savant mélange entre Diablo (en ce qui concerne le gameplay général et les loots) et Resident Evil (pour ce qui est de l'histoire principale et les petites histoires que l'ont peut trouver un peu partout ainsi que l'ambiance).

Very fun and addictive game for its meager price-tag.

Pros:

+ Addictive top-down (and usually frantic) combat mechanics.

+ Looting system that always has you drooling in excitement when an orange/purple drops.

+ Explorative game-play with multiple side-quests/areas to venture, usually resulting in a mini-boss.

+ VARIED enemies, and plenty of them. Even the basic walkers have different variations.

+ Slightly repetitive but over-all beautiful sound-track that doesn't intrude too much into the game-sounds.

+ Relatively stable game; I've only had one crash so far and that was spamming the flame-thrower in a sub-way.

Cons:

- Story started to get a bit lack-luster after a while; the usual 'catch up with the plot that's a couple of days in-front.'

- Friendly AI can suck a hard-on sometimes. Mechanics in place to control distance/aggro, but they'll still run off a mile for a single walker, usually ignoring the LMG I gave them to favour a damaged combat knife.

- Visual obstruction; actually consider this as game-mechanic. Lighting is poor at night, but you have flares/torch, though they kind'a suck and it's far better to head to a safe-zone and rest till day-light.
During a zombie-cluster-bum-fun you'll lose yourself among the walkers and your window-licker companions while corpses turn into offensively large clouds of red mist, being in-doors can make this extremely irritating.

Over-all, I highly recommend this game if you're a fan of titles like Diablo and Dungeon Siege (just not DS3...) and if you fancy a try at the respective game-play but with GUNS... And more importantly, a FLAME-THROWER. Dine away.

The game is a steal for the price. It's got the good ol' rpg elements (dungeon sieger) in a post-apocalyptic world with zombies. Lots of customization options for your character, stat-wise, lots of abilities and lots of loot. It's nice to fight zombies in the dark xD.
It's a bit hard at the beginning but but it gets easier as you progress on, as all rpg's do.
Yes, there's some downsides, as with all games, like murky graphics, hard to see at times, too much text (i'm not the reader type) but it's all in a good package.

I'd say definitely give it a try if you're into RPG's or zombie survival games, as it's cheap as chips.

I highly recommend this game. It is a steal for its price and is better than much more expensive games. The ranged combat in this game is satisfying and the skill progression / development systems has allot of deph. The downside is that there are some bugs, none I encountered were game breaking. Thier customer support is awesome and the developers listen to what the players have to say. The worse aspect of the game is the visuals. Its really difficult to see what you are doing sometimes. Trees completely cover up your character and enemies making it impossible to aim. It is also very difficult to see at night but I think that was intended. It makes sense that in a post apocalyptic world with not lights; eveything will be pitch black. But even with a flashlight it is still very difficult to see. You can use flares, to solve the problem but they are very limited. Another problem I had is that you cannot buy ammo or explosives. You can only pick them up from scavaging or enemy kills. This makes character specialization in explosives imposssible and specialization in one gun type difficult. You will need to pick several gun types in order have a steady supply of ammo. Benifits from the type of guns you use are exclusive. If you use a different type the bonuses you bought with your skill points are deactivated. The story is acceptable. I found the music to be very good and fits the mood very well. The whole game, especially in the beginning gives you a hopeless feeling, which is appropriate for a horror themed game.

Игра про нарика… хотя можно поспорить он ведь колет не героин какой-то, а нечто обозванное Сывороткой, но учитывая то, как часто он её колет, с каждым разом увеличивая дозу, он – наркоман со стажем или будет им, если выживет. Ясное дело колется наш герой не просто так, а чтобы не обратиться в жуткого красноглазого инфицированного упыря, но такая ли большая это разница? Где та тонкая грань между лекарственной дозой и… тем не менее, резюмировать суть игры можно словами: ширяйся или станешь зомби. К слову, Сыворотка является и естественной валютой в этом мрачном и неуютном мире слегка выцветших цветов осени, где нам вместе с нашим героем предстоит продираться сквозь орды инфицированного населения и нацистов в поисках спасения. Конечно, это достаточно банальный сюжет, да и дополнительные задания оригинальностью не блещут, но что ещё можно было ожидать от игры подобного жанра?

Хотя обозначить I Shall Remain клоном, к примеру, Diablo это несправедливо и некорректно, тут нет никаких активных навыков, вместо них развесистые деревья пассивных, а также качаемые от действий атрибуты. К слову подобную систему хочется похвалить, радует взаимосвязь первичных параметров, вторичных и доктрин (так тут называют пассивные навыки). Гармонично и после пары часов просто в освоение и понимание, хочешь разблокировать вот эту вкусную доктрину – прокачай первичный параметр, путём применения вторичных до необходимой величины. К тому же в наличии доктрины, работающие исключительно для определённых типов оружия, которое в основном делится на колотушки-шинковалки и огнестрел. Если же огневой мощи не хватает, а рука бойца махать устала – в ход идут гранаты и мины, глоток воды освежает, а энергетик придаст новый заряд бодрости, сбрасывая шкалу усталости.

Жизнь в этой игре – бесконечное движение, погоня за Сывороткой, за опытом, чем-то ещё – неважно. И погоня не прекращается даже ночью в блеклом свете фонарика, который ни капельки не помогает, а вокруг кто-то подвывает и врагов видно в основном только на миникарте. К тому же если в темноте ещё и пострелять из чего-то автоматического да с группой помощников – всё трясётся, дрожит, моргает от каждого выстрела. Страшно – не страшно, но неудобно и раздражает жутко – так что идёшь в город и спишь. А вот в подземельях этот номер уже не прокатывает. Также из минусов стоит отметить слабую графику и дёрганую анимацию, но если немножко поиграть это перестаёшь замечать. И начинаешь замечать абсолютную линейность уровней, да и игры в целом, ибо для персонажа преградой становится даже мусорное ведро, а уж о вездесущих заборах, завалах из машин и вспоминать не хочется. Время от времени игра подкидываются события из разряда убей вон тех толстых мутантов переростков не используя аптечек, а вон того за отведённое время. То есть пытаются не дать заскучать, бросить какой-то вызов… но получается, честно говоря, не слишком успешно. В целом назвать откровенной халтурой игру нельзя, но на шедевр I Shall Remain никак не тянет – так кривоватое нечто про зомби апокалипсис времён второй мировой войны, который надоедает задолго до невзрачной концовки.

Плюсы: развитие персонажа.

Минусы: графика, анимация, камера, тряска при стрельбе.

Примечание: За время прохождения версии 1.0 игра вылетела шесть раз. Четыре раза при переходе из локации в локацию, два раза на ровном месте. Много это или мало судить вам.

Дополнение: разработчик игры в комментариях уточнил, что трясущуюся камеру в игре можно отключить, покопавшись в файлах игры.

If you ever think that you might die from over-excitement, play this game. It'll bring you right back down. This is seriously the most boring Action RPG I've ever played. So let's run this down:

Pros:
+Gloomy, atmospheric environments.
+Large selection of weapons (30+)
+Expansive skill trees
+It's another zombie game.

Cons:
-It's ANOTHER zombie game!
-Horrible framerate issues
-Nauseating motion blur
-Banal, unsatisfying combat
-Artificially slow pace. Your character moves like a snail on horse tranquilizers, and scavenging takes more time than is necessary.
-Shallow survival mechanics
-Crosshair is NOT dynamic, and is at a fixed point in the interface, making mouse control feel unnatural and awkward.
-Flat, boring SFX
-DULL AS F***

Conclusion:
The slow pace combined with the horrible motion blur and dull combat led to the most boring ARPG experience in my life. Don't waste your money.

"I Shall Remain" is a wonderful ARPG that has nifty and fun features which remind me of Dungeon Siege 1 and 2.
TL;DR: I recommend you buy it.

Now, for a slightly in depth review, I'll do the cons first:

CONS:
*The story's more of "tell don't show," character wise, with the protoganist literally saying what he's feeling and thinking about at the moment, but that's a slight complaint.
* Early-game is hard, but that should be manageable once you find a way to get more serum.

PROS:
* The doctrine system and Dungeon Siege like character development. I think more ARPGs should follow this format. Your character progresses by using a weapon. Using a shotgun increases your skill for that, which in turn increases your rifle skill and in turn increases agility. Once you level up, you gain a "doctrine," which are essentially skill trees which help you customize your character even further, as well as research points for further specialities. You can build your character to be a leader with buffed NPCs, or a solo rifle wielding killing-machine. The system is fun because it feels natural...why would I ever put my hard-earned points into small arms when you've been killing enemies with your trusty winchester shotgun?
* New spin on post-apocalyptic games: When you think "post apocalyptic," you think of Fallout, right? Past a future time with robots and computers? Well, this game takes place in the 1940s, sometime after WW2, and things have gone terribly, terribly wrong. Its a cool and novel way of looking at an old trope.
* Serum: You're also infected. Which means you have to kill zombies to gain their zombie blood, from which the serum's derived. BUT the main currency in the game is serum. So there's a tight balance between getting skill points (by selling serum) to keeping some in stock for you to use before you become too infected that you can't fight anymore. It's a tight balance that keeps you on edge.

Bottomline: Game is Fun, pay and play as soon as you get the CashMoney for it.

Juego entretenido y divertido, pero graficos de muy bajo nivel, estoy tiene un pro y un contra, el pro esque puede correrse en equipos mas antiguos sin problema, es bastante sencillo en el sentido que es todo el rato la misma base disparar disparar y disparar, es bastante dificil avanzar sin matar los zombies-mounstruos tarde o temprano tendras que matarlos si o si. Por contra, no cuenta con español, y en un juego con misiones bastante necesario a mi modo de ver, menus bastante flojos, asi como que no cuenta nisiquiera en elpanel para ajustar la sensibilidad del raton. Hay partes muy poco intuitivas y que tampoco explica en ningun manual por ejemplo los "weapon enhancer" a dia de hoy aun no se como se utilizan y tras buscar por youtube veo que nadie sabe como se utilizan. Le recomendaria a un precio de 5-6€, ya que si no sabes bien de ingles te resultara al poco algo aburrido ya que estaras perdido con las misiones, ya que los mapas poco ayudan para señalarte la realizacion de las misiones, ni tienes algo que te guie donde terminar, o empezar cada mision, por lo cual se hace demasiado indispensable saber ingles si o si, para poder disfrutarlo, algo a mi modo de ver bastante malo en el año 2015. Si por ser un pequeño estudio no puedes permitirte traduccion multi-idioma, almenos hacer misione sintuitivas o un mapa que sirva de quia, poder "marcar" misiones desde el panel y desde el mapa ver a donde tienes que ir o que hacer, almenos podrias divertirte sin necesidad del idioma.

A so-so game with GREAT atmosphere and GREAT background music.
Some zombies look like those from Attack on Titan, which is great too.
Camera control is quite obstructed.
All in all a decent game with some fresh elements but wish I can play this game with a controller though.
This game really has potential to become an awesome game if more patches and features get added in the future.

Not sure what witchcraft was performed to gain a "very positive" Steam rating as of this writing. The game is slow, boring, and the visuals are muddy. I've had enemies teleport through walls. Explosions damage enemies behind walls. The visuals often obscure enemies and your player. The sound effects are laughable (even the token red barrels don't explode with any unf, or even real sound effects). At least the soundtrack is kind of good?

Its basically a top down action hack and slash akin to the Diablo/Gauntlet style games, however, the movement is a bit slower not requiring 500 clicks per second with constant item use buttons.

-Instead of swords, bows, and shields... you got WW2 era pistols, flamethrowers and machineguns.

-The serum to cure infection bit was a bit unnecesary as it barely effects gameplay at all but it gives you a feel of time running out urgency without actually straining you.

-The weapon actually are akin to diablo to having levels and bonuses on the weapons themselves which encourages you to constantly switch weapons and the limited ammo means you gotta switch between guns which I find great because you actually gotta manage that as you play.

-The quest system was in style of Diablo but really... I think they are more of a guide so you don't get lost.

-The music is freakin great, spot on incredible adding a sense of depressing atmosphere.

Great game, would reccomend.
