Husk feels like a game that should be £3.00 tops on a good day and regularly on sale for 50p... It's very unremarkable and rough around the edges but started out well enough to hold my attention till the end. It's more of a walking simulator than anything else and most notably, I'd say it's not one bit scary but instead rather dull I guess. There's a very dodgy (or even broken) stealth mechanic in place where enemies can detect and attack you through walls; combat blows too so there was some trial and error. It was overall quite mid but I can't complain too much as I only paid 99p for the game. That's the main reason I'm choosing to Recommend it. It's my good deed for the day. But had I paid full whack (nearly £15!) I would be raging and questioning my life choices even more than I already do.

Honestly, this is one of those times i wish i could mark as mid.
there was honestly not nearly enough feedback on when you counted as 'detected' and how much health or stamina you had, and the boss fights were just sluggish and boring. then theres the invincibility frames that the enemies get that isn't clear so if you aren't expecting it you waste all your ammo. and finally, the later sections just feel like they drag on for no good reason

p.s. the story [spoiler] was generic coma + generational domestic abuse [/spoiler] just didn't really grip me

A játék egyszerű szedd össze ami a továbbhaladáshoz kell és olvasgasd a felszedhető cetliket amikből körvonalazodik a történet. ~ 3.5-4 órás a játék. Mini pc-vel játszottam amiben egy 660M-es amd van és ezzel is szépen játszható volt
A story miatt egyszer érdemes végigjátszani ,nem nehéz ,nem bonyolult és nem is hosszú

The good:

The bad:
Mouse interaction system is bad. The game seems to have badly coded mouse sensitive detection system or something. I literally had to move the mouse from one edge of the screen to the other, many times, to do the drag actions. I almost failed entirelly to continue at the start of this game, because it was hard for me to move a object aside to open the path to continue. Don't know about gamepad controls but mouse support is very bad.
Bad bugs, when I got the first weapon, a melee pipe, the message saying to take it, never went away and the player character just kept swinging the pipe from time to time automatically, as if I was pressing the attack button, when I was not, stopped playing right there...
With such bad bugs, I cannot recomend this game.

The opening scene of Husk is extremely well put together. You are travelling on a train to Shivercliff with your family when they suddenly disappear. As you walk through the train in search for them you encounter no other people. But you see suitcases, books, uneaten food - all signs that people were on this train. It is fantastic visual storytelling that sets the scene for the rest of the game.

In the final carriage things get even weirder. All the seats have been turned to face away from you, something that shouldn't be possible. It's as if there is some invisible force saying you're not welcome. Then, before you can contemplate this for too long, the train crashes.

After the train crash, the suspense only builds. You are lost in the wild, alone. Fog swells around you. You slowly walk toward the town and find it as empty as the train you started on. Then you start to notice things moving in the shadows. You aren't alone. You are being hunted.

Finally you come across one of the creatures that is stalking you. And immediately all tension is gone. The creature looks horrifying enough, but it is ruined by animation that feels like it came from a high school project. It doesn't feel like you are getting hurt, and fighting back has no weight behind the blows. In fact, I was actually surprised when I died because I didn't even realise we were fighting.

After that all tension and potential for horror was lost. I figured out the best way to avoid enemies was to "stun and run" - a quick blow with your weapon to stun them before fleeing to safety. You don't need to flee that far, a point drilled into you by the change in music. It's trying to give you the feeling of being hunted. Instead it just feels like you need to run 100 meters once in a while.

The game starts slow, which is perfectly fine to set up the atmosphere. But then it stays slow. You can walk for 30 minutes before you come across anything interesting. The "puzzles" aren't very involved: find a key, press a button, or explore a small maze until you can keep moving forward.

To top off the boring enemies and simple puzzles, the main character isn't well written. He seems to forget about his family immediately, instead shouting "oh ♥♥♥♥!" every few minutes. This often comes as a surprise, since you as a player don't always notice what he is "oh ♥♥♥♥"-ing about. As you progress he delivers some monologues about his past, which seem very out of place. I'm sure these are getting to some kind of point, but unfortunately I couldn't make it that far.

The last level I played was a cave level. It was extremely dark, and a long and involved maze. At one point you come across some water that is being electrocuted. To progress, you need to shut off the power. So I backtracked, trying to follow the cables on the floor to the power source. Then the cables get very tangled and I got lost trying to find the way. After exploring for what felt like an hour, I still couldn't find the button to press to disable the electricity.

I was bored, unterrified, and unengaged and I couldn't see the game getting any better. I do try and finish every game I play, but after this level I couldn't keep going. So I gave up.

The game is also littered with a some strange bugs that make it feel unfinished. Every time you examine or pick up an item, your light goes out and you have to turn it on again. If you save after unlocking a door, the door will relock after you load. Small details like that, and as I've said before, details matter.

In the end, I can't say for sure that this is a bad game all the way through. What I can say is that, while it initially hooked me, flaws in the game design, storytelling, and niggling bugs ended up pushing me to move on to another game.

It's a shame, because it does feel like there could be a good game here. It really shows how not applying that last bit of polish can ultimately set a game up for failure.

I love first person horror games but this one cannot be recommended. I encountered bugs and the game screams unfinished and untested. Why is the default 62 FPS cap for UE4 in place? Why is there no way to change mouse sensitivity in the menu?

Spent some 30 minutes in the game and found absolutely no reason to continue. The beginning of the game was very boring and frustrating because the game wants you to do a lot of exploring and punishes you for doing that (stamina limits).

Man startet in einem verlassenen Zug. Es geht nur in eine Richtung. Keine Menschenseele ist in dem Zug, alles ist verlassen.
Auf meinem Weg durch den Zug finde ich eine Schachtel Zigaretten, Erdnußbutter, Rätselheft, ein Jojo?! Nichts davon ist von Belang.
Dann eine verschlossene Tür, der Schlüssel liegt am Ende des Ganges. Ich hebe in auf und öffne die verschlossene Klappe.
Das erste Rätsel: Ein Sicherungkasten! Ein halbes dutzend Sicherungen ist raus. Ich muss Sie wieder aktivieren.
Bei falscher Reihenfolge startet das Rätsel von vorn. Ich aktiviere 3. Das Rätsel ist gelöst! Andere Sicherungen?
Braucht man nicht. Immerhin kann ich mit aktivierten Sicherungen die mechanische Schiebetür jetzt öffnen.
Ich irre durch weitere belanglose Waggons, bis der Zug auf einmal bremsen muss. Der Zug entgleist (oder sowas).
Ich erwache aus der Bewusstlosigkeit. Polizei, Rettungswagen sind vor Ort. Niemand ist zu sehen. Plötzlich fällt mir ein: Meine Frau und Kinder!
Wo sind sie? Ich rufe nach Ihnen. Niemand antwortet - es ist ja auch niemand da!

Das Ganze wirkt halbherzig inn Unity zusammen gewürfelt. Schlüssel zu Türen sind an unsinnigen Stellen versteckt, der Fundort mittels PostIt an der Tür ersichtlich - hä? Was soll sowas? ich laufe noch ein wenig durch Schlauchlevel, sehe durch Fenster irgendwelche Gestalten. Dann hab ich genug un beende das Spiel. Husk has crashed. - Fatal error. Gut erkannt.

The game has great atmosphere and level design with some creepy monsters, but really needs some polishing. The thing that took most suspense away is that when you successfully escape an enemy, the chase music abruptly ends which is kinda awkward. And the ending was disappointing.
Nonetheless, a nice adventure and I liked shooting those freaky monsters. 7/10

Потом втянулся и на одном дыхании прошёл до конца.
Много разных эмоций. В какой-то момент игра злила и душила.
Общение с монстрами сильно напоминает вторую пенумбру.
Каждый раз, когда кажется, что вот уже финишь - игра какие-то совершенно новые просторы открывает.
Но в общем, после прохождения - очень положительные впечатления.
Во общем, я доволен.
По хорошей скидке - однозначно стоит брать.

Тот случай, когда можно закрыть глаза на слабое качество и насладиться инди с хорошей историей. Нельзя не заметить, чем вдохновлялся автор и, возможно, именно поэтому игра нашла у меня отклик. Я не обращала внимания на значительные недочеты, потому что сюжет действительно увлекает.

Получив письмо от отца, Мэттью отправляется с семьей в Шиверклифф, чтобы проститься. С самого детства их отношения не заладились, но отец настоятельно просил приехать - хотел перед смертью простить себя за то, каким плохим был отцом.

По пути происходит железнодорожная авария, после которой Мэттью приходит в себя в пустом городе. Кроме него и жутких монстров - никого.

Дальнейшее повествование постепенно раскрывает детали происходящего, обнажая метафоричность истории. Мир выступает клеткой разума, в которой главный герой себя запер. Изучая знакомые с детства локации, он собирает болезненные воспоминания и движется к искуплению и прощению, проходя через борьбу с осознанием и виной.

Темы семейного насилия, алкогольной зависимости и страха тянутся за вами до самого конца, все глубже погружая в судьбу героя - человека, который собственными руками ковал свою жизнь, не замечая, как сам стал отражением того, кого яростно ненавидел.

Проходя свой личный ад, Мэттью узнает правду: все, что он видит - отражение его поступков в разные периоды жизни. Монстры с которыми он сражался - порождения собственного сознания, символы его внутреннего состояния. Встретившись с самим собой, он может принять решение: остаться здесь, вновь и вновь переживая боль или разорвать круг и обрести покой.

Теперь о слабых сторонах. Со стелсом ситуация огорчает. Я так и не смогла до конца понять принцип его работы, но кажется, что у каждого противника есть зона обнаружения и стоит попасть в нее, мгновенно срабатывает триггер.

Избежать срабатывания можно лишь ползая лицом в стену по особой траектории и со странными таймингами. Малейшее отклонение и все сначала. К тому же часто приходится ползти в упор мимо уродцев, так что скрыться невозможно.

С погонями тоже не все гладко. Если побежать не по задуманному игрой маршруту, враг может убить вас через стену, даже находясь далеко.

* Левелдизайн. Скучновато, но терпимо. В основном коридорное исследование, которое из-за продолжительности может утомить.

* Головоломки. Простые и не затянутые. Они не стремятся искусственно растянуть геймплей.

* Атмосфера. Пожалуй, одна из лучших сторон игры. Видно, что создавалась с оглядкой на SH и AW. Отлично передает чувство одиночества и загнанности.

* Тех. часть. Проблем не было, игра шла стабильно, ничего не мешало комфортному прохождению.

* Не поняла для чего в игре есть стамина

Интересная история человека из деструктивной семьи, которая породила чудовище, разрушившее собственную жизнь. Подано хорошо. Геймплейно скучновато, но за счет чередования с погонями и стелсом не раздражает. Gameplay: There is no way to manually heal or see how much health you have, so healing items are worthless

The worst thing is, [b]the plot of the game is not that bad.[/b] That hurts me the most in leaving the negative review, but sorry not sorry, this title deserved it. It's still a mystery for me, why developer decided to make an unpolished game instead of writing a book. [b]Gameplay in nutshell looks like:[/b]
• you're visiting abandoned hotel and loud sound of crushing soda can tries to jumpscare you;
• you're walking in the middle of side street and loud sound of crushing soda can tries to jumpscare you;
• you're digging a grave somewhere in the park and loud sound of crushing soda can tries to jumpscare you;
• zombie-a-like thingy is chasing you and guess what… yes, of course that you'll crush a lot of cans while running away.
Why? Why did you ruin it just like that? On top of that, [b]it's bugged in few places and restart might be required.[/b] At this point I can't really recommend it. The only good thing is that it's cheap.

"Husk – The Horror Game That Forgot to Be Scary"

You know that feeling when you expect a creepy horror experience… but instead you just end up wandering around wondering if you left the stove on? Yeah, that’s Husk.

The game tries really hard to be Silent Hill’s long-lost cousin, but it’s more like that cousin who says they’re into horror but can’t watch a horror movie without turning the lights on. The story sounds deep at first — missing people, strange town, mysterious atmosphere — but after a while, you’re just running around thinking, “Am I supposed to be scared right now?”

The graphics are okay for its time, but the animations… well, let’s just say the monsters move like they’re late for a yoga class. Combat? Imagine slapping enemies with a wet noodle. That’s the level of intensity here.

There are some good moments — a couple of tense areas, the town looks decent, and the sound design tries its best — but it feels like the game wants to be scary without ever really committing to it.

Final Verdict:
If you want a slow-paced walk through a spooky-ish town with a few jump scares, go for it. If you’re looking for something that’ll make you check under your bed at night… maybe not this one.

Rating: 8/10 – More “Mild Chills” than “Full Horror.”

Husk is a walking simulator-esque (I mean, there is combat in it, sorta?) story following a man who survived a train crash on his quest to find his daughter and wife through the seemingly abandoned town of Shivercliff. It gives strong vibes of Silent Hill and maybe the original Resident Evils.

I’ve debated for a bit on what to really say about this game, and I think my thoughts on it are very conflicted. I think the developers wanted to make a good game, and I enjoy some of the mechanics they went with and plot decisions, but overall the game is very rough and hard to enjoy.

Starting with my personal favorite part, Shivercliff. I loved the town and general vibe of the game. There was a certain beauty to the abandonment and isolation it gives off, and exploring around it and into its surrounding areas was what kept me going during certain segments (that awful cave, for example). I think it did a great job of creating an eeriness that persisted even when the creatures themselves weren’t particularly exciting.

For the story, I felt it was serviceable, though I don’t think it necessarily brought anything new to the table. I enjoyed Matts exposition of the town he grew up in, and I liked how some of the horror stories he grew up hearing became real in the events of the game. One device I really liked, though it gives the reveal away too quickly, were the phones. I absolutely loved them being sprinkled around and their implication.

The gameplay of Husk felt bad. There's no other way for me to really say it. Most of the game is a walking simulator where you explore Shivercliff and collect bits of lore, and while that can be nice, 5 hours of it drags on too much. Combat in this game consists of occasionally shooting with a clunky revolver that doesn’t feel satisfying to use nor fun to really engage with, but the alternative to this is the “stealth” mechanic. The creatures are so damned inconsistent on what they can and cannot see, and frankly even when they see you, just running behind a door completely stops them. The “boss” fights of the game have no tension and impact, and frankly feel like they were shoved into a random part because they forgot to utilize them earlier. Finally, there is a segment in the later game that is absolutely infuriating. You need to sneak past (normally killable) monsters that are suddenly invincible, incredibly fast, and kill you within seconds if they get you. What you actually need to do is find the right path to sneak around them, which again, is so incredibly inconsistent that it can make you feel like you’re doing the wrong thing over and over.

In conclusion, I appreciate what the developers were trying to do with Husk, and at its core you can see the structure of a good game plagued by poor mechanics and a lackluster story. You may enjoy it more than I did, but I would really struggle to say the asking price of $20USD is worthwhile.

Ich hatte das Spiel schon lange in meiner Bibliothek - keine Ahnung woher, obs das mal gratis gab oder ob ich es für nen Euro gekauft habe, keine Ahnung. So oder so kann ich das Spiel leider nicht empfehlen. Von (ich glaube es sind) sechs Kapiteln fängt das Spiel ab dem dritten an langweilig zu werden, aufgrund billiger Versuche einem Angst einzujagen. Ständig fliegt irgendwo eine Kiste vom Regal oder Steine von einer Klippe. Es gibt...wenn ich mich nicht verguckt habe...genau zwei Gegnertypen im gesamten Spiel, dazu noch ein Boss. Alle etwas behäbig, manchmal kann man ihnen ausweichen, manchmal muss man sie erschießen. Muni ist rar aber wenn man nicht planlos in der Gegend rumballert, easy machbar.
Einmal bin ich nach einem gescripteten Sturz in eine Mauer geglitched und musste das Spiel neu laden - zum Glück nur zehn Sekunden vorher.
Gegen Ende kamen mal drei Gegner gleichzeitig auf mich zu, woraufhin ich viermal gestorben bin um dann zu merken, dass man an den Gegnern nicht vorbei kommt und ich nur einen halben Raum weiter hätte sterben müssen, um die weiterführende cutscene auszulösen... Wieso ging das nicht in dem ersten Raum?
Ich bin ab dem Krankenhaus eigentlich die meiste zeit gesprintet um das Spiel schnell hinter mich zu bringen, da ich dann doch den Ehrgeiz hatte, das Ende zu erfahren. Das ganze hat mich knapp vier Stunden gekostet, die ich im Nachhinein lieber mit nem anderen Game, Film oder ner Serie verbracht hätte.

Hier kurzer spoiler für alle, die die Story wissen, sich aber das Spiel sparen wollen:
[spoiler] Unser Charakter ist mit seiner Tochter und seiner Frau mit dem Zug unterwegs um den im Sterben liegenden Großvater zu besuchen, der, obwohl er - wie er selber in seinem Brief erkennt - nie ein richtiger Vater für uns war. (Wir erfahren später, dass er eigentlich einen Spender gesucht und unsere Gutmütigkeit ausnutzen wollte.) Der Zug entgleist, wir (das erfahren wir ganz am Ende des Spiels, obwohl man recht früh selbst drauf kommt) liegen im Koma und durchleben eine Horror-Traumreise. Wir erfahren, dass unser Großvater alkoholabhängig ist und uns und unsere Mutter regelmäßig mit seinem Gürtel verprügelt hat. Im weiteren Verlauf des Spiels erfahren wir, dass auch wir Alkoholprobleme haben und unsere Frau ein paar mal auf derartige Weise misshandelt haben. Eigentlich wollte unsere Frau - nachdem wir eine lange Zeit nicht aus dem Koma aufgewacht sind - die lebenserhaltenden Maschinen abschalten, doch da wachen wir plötzlich auf und sind dankbar noch am Leben zu sein. Unsere Frau und Tochter sind auf der einen Seite mad, dass wir nicht abgekratzt sind, auf der anderen Seite irgendwie auch froh, da man einen Menschen nicht einfach so hassen, bzw. nicht mehr lieben kann. Wie die Zukunft der family aussehen wird, steht in den Sternen, denn da endet das Spiel. [/spoiler]

If this is horror, the scariest part is the price tag...

Husk is a first-person horror game that opens with promise and quickly starts falling apart. You wake up after a train crash in your creepy hometown. Your wife and daughter are missing, but instead of urgency or fear, the protagonist mostly complains about his estranged father while aimlessly exploring a town that offers little reason to care.

The setup hints at emotional weight, but the execution felt flat. In the hour I played, I saw no character development, no urgency, and no attempt to make me care about the missing family. The main character’s lack of concern actively broke immersion.

Enemy encounters were underwhelming. You don’t fight them. You awkwardly avoid them using a limited sprint mechanic. The chase music stops the second you’re safe, instantly killing any tension. Monster AI was weak enough in my session that encounters felt more like background noise than danger.

That said, I did experience a few solid moments of atmosphere. Interacting with objects, like rewinding a cassette or inserting batteries, felt tactile and immersive. The sound design stood out as the strongest part of what I played.

But despite some good touches, Husk didn’t give me any reason to keep going. Even though the full game only takes four to five hours, I didn’t feel hooked by the gameplay, story, or world. I expected something more refined.

Final Score: 4.3 / 10
Based on my time with it, Husk feels more like a prototype than a finished product. I saw enough.

If I could leave a mixed recommendation, I would do that.
The game started off nice, with a pretty decent atmosphere.
As time went by, it had it's ups and downs. I believe that, the execution was poor overall, that's my aftertaste.
I had this weird bug where I couldn't pick up my weapon after a certain point and just like that, I couldn't progress the game.
I wanted to see the ending through a video though, so that was something.
Overall, mixed feelings with this one. If it's on a discount, maybe you could give this a shot.
Absolutely not on a full price.

This is one of those I wanted to like and recommend, but I just can't, especially at the laughable price of 20 USD. This is a walking simulator and I do mean walking. I hope you love it because you're going to do a lot of it and almost none of it should have been in the game. Going anywhere takes forever, there are entire levels that serve no purpose in the game that don't move the narrative forward and hardly have any enemies and there's a sequence in a hospital that actually made me laugh out loud. Without spoiling anything important, you enter a hospital, then you go all the way around to your right to a computer that you need a keycard for. You go back to the enterance and go the opposite way down a corridor to find the keycard. Now you have to walk all the way back to the computer to validate it, and no I'm not kidding, then all the way back again to where you found the keycard to continue through the hospital. I won't even start on the caves level which pointless goes on for so long that even when I found the exit sign, no joke, it still took about 3-5 minutes of wearing out my W key to get to the actual exit and absolutely nothing happened in between. There's technically combat, but it's awful in a variety of ways. There are few enemies, they're easy to kill, many can just be completely bypassed, and the gun is pointless. They'll take the gun away when they want, they tell you to keep stock of your bullets but they give more than you'll ever need even spawning them randomly in boss fights. Then there's the flashlight. It only lights up about 2 feet in front of you making it essentially useless. Don't come for the story either. You've seen this story a thousand times in media and gaming and you've seen it done better. There just really isn't anything to praise here. It's four hours, give or take, and if the levels were better designed and the needless areas cut, it would be maybe one or two tops. That and it's selling at a third of the cost of a full game. I'm so glad at least I got this on sale. It's padded just enough so you'll move past the refund time like I did. Save your money for library of superior, and probably cheaper, horror games out there. This is a hard skip.

The game starts building tension in a very good way but all of that gets thrown out the window as soon as you encounter the monsters. Poorly animated enemies that catch up to you and hit you even when you're at full sprint. Chase music starts when they spot you and cuts out abruptly without fading away which is very jarring.

Game relies on crouching to hide from the enemies but doesn't include a toggle crouch option for some reason. Some interactions require you to slide your mouse around but you have to make huge movements to do this. Rotating objects you inspect is similarly agonizingly slow.

The town itself looks great and the voice acting is passable, if a bit overly dramatic. Gameplay simply isn't engaging enough for me to continue and the enemy design was so generic and boring that all the tension was gone as soon as I saw them.

Un juego de terror psicológico donde el miedo y la tragedia acechan en cada esquina. Se aprecia mucho que han cuidado muy bien los detalles, aunque cuenta con algunos pequeños fallos carentes de importancia. Se agradece que esté traducido pudiendo entender mejor su historia y sus secretos.

La historia se centra en Matthew Palmer, el cual nació y creció en Shivercliff hasta que pudo mudarse y comenzar una nueva vida en otro lugar. Se casó con la chica que conoció cuando era un niño y tuvieron una hija juntos. Pudiendo tener una vida lejos de todo lo que alguna vez conocieron. Hasta que un día realizaron un viaje en tren a Shivercliff. ¿El motivo? El padre del protagonista está cercano a la muerte y envió una carta a su hijo para pedirle que lo visite. Que quiere verle por última vez antes de morir y también quiere ver tanto a su nuera como a su nieta. Reconociendo haber sido una muy mala persona y dejando ver levemente como que ha cambiado con el paso del tiempo. El tren está cerca de llegar a su destino y la mujer acompaña a la hija al baño mientras el marido espera.

El tiempo pasa y ve que no regresan todavía, por lo que decide ir a buscarlas. Pero misteriosamente... ¡Han desaparecido! Y no solo ellas... ¡También todos los pasajeros y empleados del tren! Aunque los vagones siguen moviéndose rumbo a su destino... ¡El interior está totalmente desierto! Y durante su búsqueda... ¡El tren descarrila sin previo aviso! Afortunadamente a salido ileso, pero sigue sin haber nadie. ¡Incluso aunque se aprecia que ha llegado al lugar tanto un coche patrulla como una ambulancia! Sabe que está muy cerca de Shivercliff. Así que decide ir caminando para intentar pedir ayuda y poder encontrar a sus dos familiares desaparecidos. Adentrándose en el lugar que conoció en su infancia y al cual nunca quiso regresar. Pero solo para encontrar... ¡Lo que nunca pensó que encontraría! ¿Dónde está todo el mundo? Y... ¿Qué son esas sombras que se mueven en la oscuridad? Nada parece tener sentido. ¿O quizás sí? Una carrera por la supervivencia y el deseo de saber la verdad han comenzado... Y el protagonista no parece ser consciente de ello.

A nivel personal... Considero que hay algunos detalles que necesitarían ser corregidos. Como la velocidad de maniobra de determinados NPC y algunos movimientos que se ven demasiado ortopédicos y no muy realistas. Pero a parte de eso... Es una aventura llena de acción y terror por igual. Y la historia es dramática y engancha fácilmente. ¡Recomiendo su compra notoriamente!

Psychologiczny horror z ciekawym klimatem. Troszkę taki symulator chodzenia po różnych lokacjach, czasem trochę walki która nie jest najlepsza niestety. Gra jest mało dynamiczna, bardzo dużo chodzenia i zwiedzania co po dłuższym czasie jest dosyć męczące. Mimo to nie odczułem nudy bo każda inna lokacja dawała dużo do myślenia i ciekawiła swoją budową. Gierka robi się o wiele ciekawsza pod sam koniec gry, ale i tak nie żałuję że zagrałem w ten tytuł.

This game's environment and levels are actually pretty decent its like an Alan Wake type world somewhat.
One issue with the game is that the stealth seems to be a broken in one of the earlier levels and very much so in the hospital and the stun is not effective as it should be. Firing of the gun mechanics are a pain and sometimes you cant shoot at all.

Positives are that the game allows for widescreen gaming, FOV adjustment and all the bindings work (except it doesn't save invert mouse). The FPS is locked at 62 fps but enabling Image Scaling in the nvidia control panel seems to help with that acting sort of like DLSS making it more smooth.

Picked up the game for about $1 so not bad.

Husk is an atmospheric and enjoyable horror game. I've always had a somewhat weird fantasy of waking up one day and being the only person on the planet... Husk is basically that with some monsters and bosses. The game is mostly linear, but the environments look good, detailed and believable. There are a few puzzles and areas where you need to figure out what to do. The combat felt pretty flat to me, but there were some good scares and eerie moments in this game. Also a few bugs that I encountered (including a door that led out of the warehouse and dropped me out of the map). I got this game on sale for 96 cents (yes $0.96) so definitely feel like I got great value for my money. If you're interested in playing Husk I'd recommend trying to find it on sale. If you enjoy horror games and good atmosphere and understand that Husk is a game built by a small team, you should enjoy yourself. Recommended.

Tja puh was soll ich sagen. Silent Hill auf Wish bestellt. Eigentlich würde ich gern nach dem hier erlebten am liebsten einen "neutralen" Daumen geben. Es nerven echt viele Dinge im Spiel. Das Spiel hat eine ereignislose Welt, die zwar nach Grusel aussieht aber eigentlich nur aus "nichts" besteht. Man trottet durch schlauchige Level und begegnet hier und da humanoiden Monstern. Die sind aber so bedrohlich wie ein ausgekauter Kaugummi. Die sind auch die größte Schwäche von Husk, den die Gegner Ki ist so dermaßen dämlich das es wehtut. Das Spiel hat auch einige Bugs, so funktioniert die Schleichen-Funktion nicht. Also selbst wenn man schleicht, buggen die Gegner trotzdem rum und entdecken einen. Zum anderen haut die Hitbox nicht hin, gerade am Ende gibt es ein Krankenhaus Level wo es Gegner gibt die einen durch Wände hindurch treffen oder treffen obwohl man klar und ersichtlich 20 Meter weit wegsteht.

Ansonsten ist die Story ganz ok. Ist halt Genre-Standard. Ein recht hartes Thema wie häusliche Gewalt wurde hier reingepackt, aber nur am Ende wirklich thematisiert. So bleibt Husk nur sehr sehr mittelmäßige Kost. Es wirkt technisch auch sehr veraltet. Dennoch merkt man das dass Spiel irgendwie versucht aus dem was es ist, etwas gutes zu machen. Zuletzt hat es sich schon ziemlich langweilig gezogen und ich bin nur noch gesprintet. Achja...auch das ist ein Thema...Keuch-Simulator kam mir oft in den Sinn. 5 Meter sprinten und der Protagonist keucht als hat er einen Asthmaanfall.

Ich empfehle es trotzdem, weil evtl. Leute die sonst nicht Horror erprobt sind, hier vielleicht einen "seichten" Einstieg ins Genre bekommen können.

The game is very buggy.I had to restart a chapter just because I fell through the ceiling and kept dying. If you want to relax after a hard day at work, this is not the game for you. Sabe quando um jogo de terror é obviamente pretensioso e acaba ficando tedioso por isso em pouco tempo? Pra mim Husk é assim, mas já vou avisando que não sou muito fã do gênero, porém quando o jogo têm conteúdo interessante ou algo único eu acabo me envolvendo a ponto de terminar o jogo.
No caso de Husk o jogo me colou sozinho em uma cidade escuro, uma cidade grande mas que eu sempre podia seguir por um só caminho linear, todo o resto estava inexplicavelmente trancado, de vez em quando uma figura aparecia ao longe pra dar um susto (interessante, até que aconteceu muitas vezes), acabei desistindo do jogo antes de terminar o segundo capitulo e se você não for realmente fã desse tipo de jogo, provavelmente vai fazer o mesmo.

You know when a horror game is obviously pretentious and ends up getting boring because of it in a short time? For me, Husk is like that, but I'll warn you that I'm not a big fan of the genre, but when the game has interesting content or something unique I end up getting involved to the point of finishing the game. In the case of Husk, the game stuck me alone in a dark city, a big city but I could always follow only one linear path, everything else was inexplicably locked, every now and then a figure would appear in the distance to scare me (interesting, it happened a lot). I ended up giving up on the game before finishing the second chapter and if you're not really a fan of this type of game, you'll probably do the same.

Увы но половина особенностей игры которые расписали разработчики -враньё .Сюжет угадывается уже на 1/3 игры,да по началу какая никакая атмосфера одиночества есть,что ты один в городе и все куда то пропали,но вот как раз это и палит развязку игры как по мне.Игра вдохновлена такими произведениями, как Silent Hill и Alan Wake,ну скажу так тут есть вайбы этих игр ,но не более.Разнообразные монстры и сражения с боссами- где ?! Монстров 2 вида и почти не отличаются друг от друга,есть один босс и то битва с ним это так драка двух алкашей в коммуналке ,происходит в слоумо ,где мы бегаем по округе подбираем патроны и хэдшотим его.Классическая игра в стиле Survival Horror- враньё,по сути перед нами симулятор ходьбы с редкими стычками с монстрами,которых можно обойти в меру тупого аи .Музыка приятная,но не более.
Пусть вас не сбивают с толку написанные особенности игры ,перед нами симулятор ходьбы,где изредка мы можем пострелять в монстров или обойти их,никакого Survival Horror А тут нет в помине. Да история может и хорошая,но если вы заядлый киноман,то уже пару раз подобный сюжет видели.Если и брать то по большой скидке.Оценка больше нейтральная ,но поставлю палец вверх,так как проект всё же больше увлёк чем нет.

мусор. плохо почти всё. главная проблема - невероятная духота. геймплей почти отсутствует. дропнул на середине игры, желания узнавать, что там дальше - нет. если бы купил в стиме, вернул бы деньги, а так - доллар жалко.

I went into it without knowing anything about it, as I was going through random games and playing them.
Can be janky, but better than most modern AAA games being held with gum and shipped out.

Bueno, chicos, agarren sus palomitas y prepárense para la montaña rusa de sentimientos y frustraciones que ofrece \Husk\. Este juego promete ser un viaje de terror y misterio inspirado en clásicos como \Silent Hill\, pero se queda parado en la estación antes de arrancar. No tan terrorífico ni tan misterioso, \Husk\ es como recibir un calcetín en Navidad: bueno, está, pero no era lo que esperabas.

Lo primero que hay que destacar es la ambientación. Esta pequeña ciudad americana de Shivercliff definitivamente tiene sus encantos, con ese toque de pueblo olvidado que podría haber sido sacado de una novela de Stephen King. Y no podemos olvidar aquellos destellos donde la historia tiene el potencial de enganchar, solo si no estuvieras peleando constantemente con los controles.

Oh, querido, ¿por dónde empezamos? Primero, la jugabilidad. Es como intentar patinar en mantequilla, simplemente resbaladizo y frustrante. Y la IA... bueno, digamos que a veces parece que los enemigos están más perdidos que uno en el juego. Gráficamente, no es que nos caigamos de espaldas. Es pasable, pero en un mundo donde los gamers son cada vez más exigentes, \Husk\ no destacará en ninguna colección.

"Husk" is a horror game that fails to deliver scares, with lackluster storytelling and repetitive gameplay and boring music.
Its like a constant stabbing in the back, the more you play the worst it gets.
Very disappoint game and ending even more.

I've enjoyed the audio design and the music quite a bit. The story is pretty decent and what you would expect from a walking mystery game. The game feels dated but doesn't hold the game back entirely. Even with sprinting, the game's pace is a bit slower than I would normally like. However, I did like making it to the end of the game. I'd like to see a remake in Unreal Engine 5 with a lot more quality of life options, including how fast you move, as well as a fleshed out story.
The story beats can be pretty sparse, and some of them you can miss entirely. The narrative behind the game seems like it's the smaller idea whereas the maps and atmosphere are the main focus to the game, which does well in its setting and mood with the music and some of the sound choices.
I'd say the game is worth a playthrough, but on sale. Especially, since the soundtrack comes free with the game.

It would be unfair to give this a thumbs down. For the most part it was an interesting game. I am really into walking sims and this wasn't a bad one, despite almost rage quitting a couple of times and about to uninstall the game. I hate when devs use some cheap approaches to try and lengthen the gameplay like ridiculous mazes or looping levels. The 1st BS segment was this cave which was like a maze, in total darkness, it just serves to hinder progress and becomes a chore, not fun at all. Also, by the end of the game when you reach the hospital, it drags you way too much with repetitive tasks and corridors/rooms which all look the same, it's like you are looping the level constantly, that was a chore, almost gave up there, just wanted to reach the damned end and be done with it, not having fun anymore. The atmosphere of the game is great, and the story is decent enough.

[*]可惜没有中文。（We need Chinese!）。也没有汉化补丁，凭借着还未完全忘记的4级英语底子，大致看懂了些许剧情。应该是说主角家暴和酗酒，但最后其妻女希望主角能够改变。但中间的转折点确实没注意到，主角最后为什么躺在医院，怎么进入表里世界，为什么其妻女会相信他能改变。还有表里世界的关卡，其他关卡都大概知道原因，唯有工厂是为什么？毕竟表里世界一般是其内心的噩梦。可惜英语太差了，未能知晓原因。如果有知道的，还望告知一二。
[*]最后一章在非常熟悉的免费建模房子里找纸条，真的太出戏了。这个桥段，再加上这免费的房子建模，我能想到太多的小体量独立恐怖游戏了。

Spooky atmosphere of an abandoned city along with bugs and poor optimization.
The plot is not bad for an indie horror game, but sometimes is boring (hello to caves and hospital).
Reminds me a little bit of Alan Wake and Silent Hill.
Only for fans of the genre.

Perso, j'ai mis 6 heures pour le fini mais c'était en stream donc ça joue sur le temps passé.

Husk est dans l'ensemble bon, dans ses effets comme dans son histoire. On avance dans l'inconnu et on découvre petit à petit l'histoire qui devient de plus en plus sombre à mesure qu'on avance. on reconnais bien l'inspiration Silent Hill pour le coup.
Petit bémol, néanmoins je n'ai jamais réussi à passer discrètement de manière certaine, et les monstre de la fin peuvent cracher à trajets certains mur ce qui peut être frustrant. Les contrôles sont également étranges par moment et il y a des lenteurs dans le réçit à cause de certains déplacement dans la ville qui sont long.
Mais sinon pour le prix, il est correct

Petit plus pour la localisation du son qui au départ m'a fait croire que j'était poursuivis, alors que c'était le bruit de mes pats que j'entendais à gauche ou à droite en fonction du sens vers lequel je me dirigeait xDDD

A pretty bad game. Combat is horrible. Stealth is horrible. No inventory system. There's medkits, no clue how to use them still. No jumping. A few bugs where I had to restart from last save. Mostly boring gameplay and not much of a story. I made it to the hospital. Not sure if I will keep playing this.

Borderline unplayable due to really bad optimization.

The setting that kills all performance is the shadow quality - anything above low tanks the FPS and I mean, like, really kills it. From 60 to sub 20. Other settings either have no effect on FPS or have a negligible effect of 1-2 FPS.

And there is stuttering on asset load.

Do not spend money on this.

You like Silent Hill or Alan Wake? Play those games instead.

This game is a walking simulator "horror" game filled with predictable cliches and where nothing really happens, the plot feels predictable from the very first cutscene in the prologue, stealth doesn't work, you can easily stun and outrun enemies, the moment the game gives you more tools to use they get taken away from you two rooms after.

The only decent thing is the environment which looks convincing enough.

Paying to play this game would be like paying to go on a really slow rollercoaster ride with a completely flat track that feels like it lasts more than it should.

it's a decent survival horror title(survival horror as in 90's survival horror, not literally eating drinking an sleeping, old school run and hide , survive the monster kinda survival horror). would say this game is more for the patient gamers then those used to resident evil classic an silent hill.
combat is pretty straightforward if you played 90's, horror games. pretty much find clues an solve puzzles. definitely a game that could have used a defense mechanic like a shove or a knife used once to push an enemy away. seems kinda unforgiving to be one shot by an enemy normally for those just starting out in the game.

Prečo pri tejto hre som mal pocit, že ju nedotiahli do konca? Hru hodnotím ako priemer
Plusy:
-niektoré lokácie
(cintorín, maják, vstup do jaskyne , za stroskotanou loďou je slušný bug , kde sa zaseknete, takže radšej tam nechodiť)
-sem tam moment prekvapenia
-dejová linka
Mínusy:
-pocit prázdnoty, doslova vaty v niektorých lokáciach
-príšery (ako neboli úplne zle spravené), ale dalo sa s ňou vyhrať , i AI nepriateľov slabá
-hudobný motív prakticky žiaden (pritom je to dôležitý aspekt, každej dobrej horovej hry.
-cena hry (drahá na obsah)
Zhrnutie: Ako jednohubka na jednu jesennú noc, prečo nie, ale žiadnu slávu neočakávajte.Doporučím hru, ale s odretými ušami.
