Do I recommend this game? If you are a fan of squad-based combat and enjoy games like Symphony of War, Unicorn Overlord, or Ogre Battle, you'll probably like the overall combat in the game. You form several squads. You can build those squads how ever you want. There's multiple classes. Abilities learned persist across class changes so you can mix and match them, creating variations even with the same end class (you could have a mage that learned druid skills and one who spent life as a cleric first, etc.). There's permadeath so you want to care about every soldier or be prepared to hire someone and have to train/re-train them.

All of that is well and good. The story is pretty solid also, and overall it's a good game.

So why would I consider NOT recommending the game. Well the interface bugs...they just are a consistent threat. You can literally walk off a lot of the maps and be stuck with no recourse but to reload a save (or use the console commands if you know how). It's very frustrating and can cause an unexpected loss of progress.

Using the mouse to control movement on the maps is no better, in fact it's probably worse. So just use the keyboard to move around.

It's really the biggest flaw with the game, and if it was just in certain areas, maybe it wouldn't be so bad, but most of the maps, especially those with ridges, cliffs, or bridges, allow it to happen.

There are other minor interface issues...sometimes the Notes box on the character sheet (a very nice idea, btw) doesn't give you the cursor to type. Exiting the pause menu and reopening it (often) fixes it. The game doesn't save your preference for melee or ranged combat for your squads. You have to keep changing it for ranged squads every time you reload. But these quirks don't mess with the experience in a major way.

Another quibble I have with the game is the inability to buy certain types of equipment. For example, I'm having no luck finding anyone who sells accessories. Some areas don't have druid circles, so if you need to replace (or just want to acquire) wolves, faeries, etc. that you get from Druidry, you're out of luck for stretches at a time. And while I appreciate the permadeath option, losing an individual unit can make it very, very difficult to train up a replacement because they will be woefully underpowered and die quickly.

So, overall, it's a solid game and I'm enjoying my time with it. It is just frustrating to get pulled out of the experience with the movement issues in the game especially. Fortunately, if you need/want the console commands, they are freely given on the game forum on Steam, which is appreciated, even if they weren't helpful solely for dealing with bugs/quirks.

This is one of those cases where I want to separate "Is this recommended/good game?" and "Is this a cash grab?". I feel like some of the reviews conflate the two in a way that isn't fair to the developer or the game.

You can clearly see the vision of Himeko Sutori. A tactical RPG focused on extremely large scale combat... while maintaining the granularity of individually customized characters. Keep in mind... by large scale combat I mean that I've got 40 ACTIVE party members and I'm still in the early game. Each individual has their own stats, skills, equipment and class. On this note, the design is awesome.

I see alot of references to "Tactics Ogre" in the reviews, but I really feel its more of an "ogre battle". You split your forces into smaller groups of soldiers that move and fight together. When armies move into combat range, each soldier will activate its automatic action. (Soldiers might attack. Healers heal, Warlocks buff or AOE attack, etc) So, while individual skills matter... its equally important to combine troops that support one another.

Each individual troop is build through a bit of a deck building system. Each class has a deck of upgrade cards that allow you to boost stats, weapon skills, learn skills, or unlock new classes. Many of these upgrades carry over as you change class... so you end up micromanaging each troops to maximize their effectiveness. It's also worth noting that death is permanent... so losing a troop matters.

But there's more to a game than the design... the implementation matters. Sadly, Himeko Sutori does miss the mark here in two ways... UI and Bugs.

The UI and control scheme is absolutely one of the least user friendly games I've played in years. I find myself struggling to walk through doors or talk to people because I can't find the magic pixel. The scroll bar to move through page of my party members seems broken. With so much going on its hard to tell whether your party member or an enemy dies in combat. The inventory is clunky and the crafting system doesn't tell you how many of an item you need in the crafting menu.

It's a case where there is a lot of systems and a lot of associated UI, but its functional instead of fun. Too many things require dragging, multiple clicks, switching pages, etc. This means that the really cool customization is dulled by tedium of the interface.

But the really thumbs down for me is major bugs. While combat seems to work, I've found myself soft-locked about a dozen times so far while walking around the maps. I've fallen off boards so that I can no longer reach the door. I've fallen on top of trees so that but couldn't get back to the ground. I've accidently double triggered a cutscene that couldn't complete a second time and froze.

The entire system is just extremely unpolished and unstable and I find myself constantly saving for fear of another game-breaking bug.

I really like the vision for this game and I know the dev put in the monumental effort to ship a finished game. The ideas are functional and when the game is running the way you want... its great. I really have enjoyed most of my time so far.

But at the same time, its not something I can really seriously recommend. There's fun if you want to play with systems... but its really, really, reeeeeally rough around the edges.

If I was a multi-millionaire who had the money to create a game studio out of thin air, one of my first projects would be to give this dev enough money to make a sequel to this game. This game is an absolute gem. It is clear the developer is passionate because there's just enough jank and lack of polish overall that makes it clear that this was either mostly solo or maybe 2-3 people tops on a shoestring budget.

When it comes to strategy RPG's, I love games that let you make squads like this. There's not a lot of them out there. If we go retro, we can get ogre battle, soul nomad, but in modern times...Symphony of War: Nephilim Saga is maybe the only one I'm aware of on Steam. Unicorn Overlord, but that's console exclusive? There's just not a lot of them. I loved the Advance War's games as a kid, and this game is a combination of those plus an SPRG like Final Fantasy Tactics.

The game as it is, is like an unpolished gem. The gameplay itself feels amazing. In a world where this game sold well enough to get a well funded team and a sequel? I would be so happy. But as it is, there's just enough jank here that the game just isn't for me. I'm glad I tried it though, and had a blast during my time with it.

Joguinho tático interessante diferente de tudo que tem por ai, vc pode personalizar literalmente um exercito de até 100 unidades e colocar em batalha ao mesmo tempo, só que dividido em 10 lanças, então em batalha na verdade vc controla até 10 unidades.

O jogo infelizmente tem diversas falhas e bugs, principalmente na parte de exploração que chega a ser broxante, faltou capricho por parte dos desenvolvedores. Mas mesmo assim vale a pena jogar devido as batalhas e gameplay, é bem empolgante evoluir seu exercito otimizando as skills e equipamentos, dizimando os inimigos.

Uma dica pra quem vai começar pra não passar raiva no jogo, no inicio foca na maximização de unidades tentando fechar pelo menos umas 8 lanças (pois ao longo do jogo vc vai ganhando unidades pra completar tudo). Embora de pra zerar só com as unidades iniciais, foi oque eu fiz mas tive que fazer um grind pesado.

Really enjoyed the combat and system in general. Can't say much about the story cause I refunded after an hour when I realized the horrible leveling system. As a CONCEPT, being able to choose every single upgrade from a deck of cards, is GREAT, but having to do it for 10...20...30...40...or more characters, EVERY SINGLE BATTLE, is exhausting. If a character MATTERS, like my leaders, yes, let me. They have an AUTO LEVEL per character but it's "click NEXT, click level, click autolevel" PER character...and the buttons are no where near each other and only 1 has a keybind. The leveling is taking longer than the battles!

It's trash, totaly unplayable.

Never saw worse controls. Mouse is working differently. At battle stage it can be barely visible as it slides like on ice while making screen on earthquake. Few seconds to get a headache.
You can't move screen away at world map so it's hard to navigate where the hell are you.
You can't start conversation with mouse.
You need to rotate map all the time to see anything...but you can't do that everywhere for example first town after main base.
At world map your unit will stop at every time change so you need to click A LOT until you get to where you want.
First quest outside main base is defeat bandits and optional slimes. There are no slimes on the map.
As there are no slimes, you can't train your units. As unprepard units and enemies with at least 80% dodge...you will just lose some of them in the first fights and you can't do nothing against it.
I just skyrocketed and stuck in the air in the first town and as you can see i didn't play long.

I like what this game is trying to do with the large-army combat and I can deal with some rough edges and lack of polish as the game didn't cost much and it doesn't have the budget and development staff of a AAA studio. however I am not recommending this game because it crashes too much. It crashed at least ten times on me while I was playing in the last day. It does have auto-save thankfully, but this is not how a game that's already been out for three years should run. It'd be one thing if it seemed like a single crash that could reproduced, tracked down and bug fixed but it crashed in a whole bunch of different ways and I couldn't identify the root cause of any of them.

Less of an adventure than a long nag.
I love the concept of controlling customized squads rather than one character at a time, but...
It plays like an unfinished or early access game. Sadly, it's been out for years and still lacks polish. The modders have helped a little (more class types, etc), but there's still too many bugs, places to get stuck, trouble navigating around (which seems increasingly unnecessary!) and the card system for leveling up is either grind-bait, or an invitation to pointless frustration. Randomization for quest objectives are another cause for frustration.
I have personal gripes about the storyline and poor writing, especially how the script seeks to force you into making decisions that they impose as 'moral', or lose your earliest companion, etc. Plus most of the characters are either completely shallow or outright annoying. It doesn't help that everybody (including each main character) has the same face.
All told, the whole thing feels incredibly soulless.

非常に惜しいゲーム。
ゲーム性はFFタクティクスに似ており、キャラの個性を消した代わりに部隊として運用する形。
そのため、戦闘以外の育成なども面白いが、バグが多すぎるためやる気をそがれる。
なかでも戦闘中に敵の能力を下げる攻撃をする職業があるのだが、それを使うと高確率でフリーズする。
このゲームが無料ならば仕方ないが、お金を取っている以上しっかり対応してもらいたい。

I really enjoyed this game, except for the crash issues. The whole process of leveling across classes to get the skills you want and working toward your chosen end classes for the build really works for grinders like me. It is relatively easy though time consuming to make money, (again grinder) but harder to level unless you use the mods. The biggest problem I had was crashes, so make sure to save often if you get it. Good for casual gamers that just want to pass some time, or technical gamers like me who obsess over the little details of character/army building.

This game has a really good potential and I'm really hoping it reaches it.
Game is a tactical/jrpg style kind of game and I don't know a lot of game that scratches the same itch which is why I'm hoping that this game reaches it's potential.

This game is not a finished product since performance issues, bugs and crashes are a common occurrence.

Gameplay:
The class branching needs some smoothing out. Especially the mage line is very rough and it's a pain in the butt to train that class.

The idea of the game and combat system is unique tho and very interesting. Just make sure you kill enemy range units since there is a perma death in this game and range lances(what the game calls a squad) can focus fire on your lance and your lance can be wiped out or at least have a few deaths. The perma death isn't a problem tho, if you grind few new characters every now and then.

I would love to give this game a thumbs up since the idea of the game is really good but I'm being held down by my experience of the game which is a pain to play. Would definitely change this to thumbs up when the game improves.

I don't really that much time in the game so take my input with a grain of salt, but I really didn't like the feel of the game especially combat wise. The hits don't really register for me when 5 people hit something it feels like I'm looking at two legos bumping into each other. Maybe I just couldn't hear properly but I couldn't really appreciate the music or sound effects.

Even though you can't move the camera around and zoom in and out since when you travel the over world with the camera stuck to your character it feels very wobbly.

if you have ever played ragnarok online before, this game attempts to do that with sprite based characters with the same camera angles but that game executes its camera much better without making you feel sick and that game is like 2 decades old.

Honestly I really wish I appreciated the gameplay a bit more I couldn't really, honestly I've had a much better experience playing Soul Nomad and that game is over a decade old already. I would have honestly stuck through the game if the camera work didn't give me a headache when I was playing it

Wow! Big Underrated Gem alert here!! Absolutely awesome game *especially* the intricate army-building, character class systems and development systems overall! Tons of loot (but not in a Diablo way), some really interesting UNIQUE crafting opportunities (new units in your army, anyone??) and much more. Just a really well done effort by Rockwell Studios here. Definitely give it a go if you're into epic JRPGs with very deep character systems and FUN, tactical combat!

二周目に育成計画考えてゲーム進めているところが一番楽しいかな。

*装備はどこで大体揃うのか
Icy Reachのゲート出たところ

*個人的な分隊編成
-Attacker7:Healer3が最終形。Leadershipが52で10人分隊が組める。
Leadershipが足りないときはMageは頭(10)と近い職のLeadership、Illusionistがリーダーなら指輪(16)、それ以外はLava cave産出の王冠(20)

*自分が使ったビルド
-タンク
Knight-(cleric+paladin)
メインPaladinサブClericまででもいいがKnightがメイン職になるとやはり格が違う
盾とブロックが高い武器を持て…鬼龍のように、knightまで必要なのはでかい赤い悪魔が全体攻撃ブンブンしはじめてから、リーダーはMageのリーダースキルを取るといい

-火力のある前衛
Rogue-(Illusionist+(ranger))
Dodgeを高め耐久性をあげ、Amb二刀流で火力を出し、attack bonusとwith XXとクリ率で火力を盛り、illのリーダースキルが支える、ある意味"最強だ"

-柔らかめの敵分隊を全体的に削って数を減らし楽にする役
Mage-(Rogue or/and Ranger)、サブクラスは一つだけでもいいと思う
Imp混じり編成がひたすら生き延びようとするクソみたいな編成に対するメタ、終盤はデカブツなし敵部隊は斉射で消し飛ぶ

相手のMage系は物理に弱い
Ranger-(Rogue+(なんか))、サブクラスは一つだけでもいいと思う、火力の伸びしろはあんまりない

弓兵や杖もち赤い牛全体遠距離魔法ブンブン丸は魔防が低い

両手にWandを持つとAmbがのるんだよね、すごくない？

Illusionist+なんか、遠距離攻撃部隊のリーダー用
遠距離攻撃分隊に一人いればいい（あまりいらない）、連打してるとゲームが落ちやすいので注意

-妖精さん
かわいい、赤緑とって最終職を白にして一分隊に一人ずつのマスコットにしよう（分隊の穴になるけど）
赤にSwiftnessがあるので移動力が高い分隊がどうしても欲しいときのHealerにもなれはする

最近、こういったやり込み系の多部隊育成ミュレーションが少ないので、この手のジャンル好きの自分としては、かなり楽しめました。
一時期、進行につまづいて（どこに行けば分からなくなり）放置してたけど、最近、エンディングに到達できました。(最大Lvは由美の86)
育成は、割とマイペースで取り組めるので、しっかり育てれば、終盤のデーモンの猛攻にも耐えられます。
なお、エンディング後も、砂漠の町から冒険を続けられる様子。ハリやカラカンダが再度パーティーに追加されるのは御愛敬なのか、タイムリープなのか。そういえば、ジャガーノートを作ってない気がするので、もう少し遊んでもよいかも。

ただ、変な所にはまって動けなくなったり、出口の無い所に落っこちたり、画面が真っ黒になったりとバグが多いので、要所要所でセーブが必須です。
また、建物内で動き辛かったり、ワールドマップが無いので、自分でマップをメモっておかないと次は〇〇に行けと言われると分からなくなる等、マイナス要素も多くあります。
このように欠点も多いけど、全体としては雰囲気も良く面白いゲームでした

Magnifico juego te enamoras con la historia y su musica , en jugabilidad me fascina su manera de combate de escuadrones , una gran función poder cambiar el nombre de los personajes y escribir una breve biografia de ellos , muy divertido es obtener personajes únicos mientras exploras , me encantan los paisajes y como cambia con la hora del día , lastima no tenemos manera de editar los personajes la apariencia por que es muy difícil obtener personajes con la apariencia que buscas por que los compras al azar . I had fun tinkering around with this, but I would only recommend it to someone who very badly wanted to try out a squad based army management game. Let's be abundantly clear: this game lacks any semblance of polish whatsoever. The graphics are rudimentary, the dialogue is primarily atrocious, the UI is inconsistent and buggy, it allows controller support but doesn't properly scale the cursor movement speed, and is generally the sort of mess that one would expect from an amateur designer who hasn't yet learned how to code. Here's the thing, though: character progression is entirely novel, unlocking classes is fun, and it's great to be able to play an army management sim because so few of them are still being made of this sort. It's worth supporting these types of efforts in hopes of this developer honing his skills and building upon what he's put together here.

Yeah, 45 minutes in, and I can already tell that I'll have no desire to play this game any further. Himeko Sutori (really, shouldn't it be "Story?" Look at the Katakana. It's "Story.") is a game that thinks it's a lot smarter than it actually is. All this game makes me want to do is play the King's Bounty games again. This game is nowhere near as good as those games.

For starters, the battle system is so much wasted potential. It's got a familiar squad-based battle system which takes place on hexagonal grids, just like the Katauri King's Bounty games; that's what got me interested in checking this game out. Because the KB games were awesome. Unfortunately, there's very little depth here. You'll find many battles strewn throughout the overworld, but there's one CRUCIAL problem... you have NO way of knowing how powerful any of them are. Thus, you can go from roflstomping a group of bandits, and then one minute later, find yourself in an unwinnable battle in an abandoned mine. Even within battles, you have no way of checking enemy stats, abilities, movement ranges, or anything.

All this means that the game is decidedly very lacking in the "strategy" department. Disappointing for a game that belongs to the "Strategy RPG" genre.

Outside of battles, the game has a penchant for overloading you with pointless chaff. Crafting. Food. Rests. Recipes for druidery. Recipes for weapons. Recipes for... seriously, can you just let me play the GAME here? What little substance the game has is woefully overwhelmed by the incessant amount of time you'll be spending on NOT making any meaningful decisions.

When it comes to character customization and party building, there too I have problems, because again, you're NOT presented with any meaningful decisions. In a good strategy series like King's Bounty or Front Mission, you'll have plenty of opportunities to decide how your characters progress. Not so in Himeko Story, because once again: the game loves to withhold vital information from you. In this case, there's no way of knowing what skills my characters can learn, or what classes they can eventually become. Even tooltips for EXISTING skills are misleading. For instance, my healers have a skill which says it can "heal targets," but it leaves out some rather important information, namely that the healing does NOT work on anyone who is NOT in the same squadron as the healer. Gee, wouldn't that have been nice to know BEFORE I entered a battle and discovered that my squadron of healers was abjectly useless?

From what I've seen in the game so far, the dialogue and story are completely wooden. You start off with several characters who all have indistinguishable personalities, and you're tasked with exploring a world populated with people who have indistinguishable personalities. The plot basically consists of "go from point A to point B to point C, et cetera," and once you reach whichever arbitrary town the game wants you to visit, none of the NPCs say anything noteworthy. You could probably copypaste dialogue from Final Fantasy 1 and come up with a similar result: WELCOME TO CORNERIA! WELCOME TO CORNERIA! WELCOME TO CORNERIA!

This was a waste of money, so I'd rather cut my losses and play something else instead. In past years/months, I may have been more persistent and decided to see things through to the very end. But at this point, I've played too many bad games that I'd rather not waste my time with them any further.

Disappointing, because I was hoping for something which would capture at least SOME of the King's Bounty magic. If you're looking for enjoyable KB clones, I'd recommend the likes of Greenolor Studio's games (Necromancer Returns, Beasts Battle) or the Braveland games.

This is what happens when you have what is potentially a great concept and a team that's working on its first game ever. The execution is an unabashed trainwreck on nearly every level.

So let's start:

1. The open world exploration needs to have an intuitive camera operation and should require as little input from the user as possible (ideally none). Here, you constantly have to manually move the camera, and it's not fully mouse-supported, nor wholly keyboard-driven. It's a hybrid of both.

2. Also, movement is so slow, it's like literally wading through molasses.

3. The dialogue is so stiff, it's practically wrapped in plastic. Tin ear for dialogue = death.

4. The camera during combat is just straight up wonky.

5. The animations during battle are hard to see because of the wonky combat camera.

6. Poor use of dialogue box real estate - especially the font so small, you need a magnifying glass to see it clearly.

7. Use of when to use keyboard and mouse is counterintuitive and inconsistent.

I could go on, but it's clear the devs don't understand even the most fundamental game design principles from an end-user perspective. And rather than stick with the baseline they've developed here (however bad that baseline is), they've veered off into RTS RPG, abandoning the tactical RPG genre completely. I have very little faith that will be implemented well either.

My sense is that the devs really wanted to create the RTS RPG game all along, as their first product tries to be a hybrid of RPG and tactical strategy (and fails at both). They would have literally been better served making an RPGMaker game to at least getting a passing familiarity with the basics of game design. Not only would this have been a natural progression to the game they apparently desired to create, that engine's limitations would have helped prevent many of the mishaps we see here (minus, of course, the wooden, unrealistic dialogue).

[h1]Himeko Sutori – A labor of love[/h1]

[h2][u]Overview[/u][/h2]
[i]Himeko Sutori[/i] is tactical turn-based RPG with an emphasis on army and character management. As the game goes on you can eventually field an army of over 100 characters. During the story and travel your army may clash against others and thus appear on a hex grid where the two armies battle for victory in turn based tactical combat.

In between encounters you can outfit characters with gear or apply their experience to level up for new abilities or even change their class.
The gameplay is intriguing in concept, but how does it hold up in practice? How does the rest of the game fare?

[h2][u]Gameplay – Army Management[/u][/h2]
Gameplay is definitely the game’s strongest point. Though ironically, I feel the turn-based combat aspect of it is the weaker side. I enjoyed the management far more than the battles. Actually, eventually the battles felt like a slog and thus I did not actually finish the game. But I am getting ahead of myself.

Before the initial combat you’re introduced to the main management and strategic layer of the game – organizing the army into squads/units or lances as this game calls them. Each lance can field a maximum of up to 10 characters (2 rows of 5 characters) but is limited by the leader’s leadership stat. Early on, a lance is probably going to be 3-4 characters. Creating lances is pretty fun. There is a front row and back row. Typically, you want healers, support, and ranged in the back while the front should have fighters and tanks. There are no limitations on number of classes to place, however, so if you want you could have a lance made up of only fighters and no healers. Not a great idea though, which I will get into. The game seems to be built in mind with having balanced lances of every attacking unit having healers in the back. Having a ranged-only lance is feasible, however, though I would recommend still having healers. They also rely on having some other lance still be melee to protect them.

Now, for one of the design problems. Lances cannot interact with other allied lances. Thus, healers are severely gimped and are pretty much required to be in every lance. One would think it possible to make a healer-specific lance to aid other armies, but no, they would only be able to heal their own unit, sadly. Healers are also the victim of yet another design problem – experience is achieved through action. If nobody is getting hurt, healers are not going to have much to do. This is especially a problem with a ranged-focused lance which are not going to get hit that often if played correctly.

Speaking of leveling up, this is another area where I think the game is pretty neat. Upon level up, each character is presented three sets of three cards. From each set you can select one card for the character to take. Each card represents a new skill or stat growth. They keep this stat or skill forever, even if they change class. First, I think the card system is pretty neat. While there is some RNG, it’s not that big of a deal to just keep leveling up and grab the desired card next time. Secondly, the class changing system is what really kept me playing. I was pretty hooked in trying to min-max my characters as they travel down a class chain and cross-class. You can have a mage become a knight and vice versa and it’s actually pretty useful because they both benefit from the same “type” (each class is divided into a certain color type) and can use some of the skills they picked up from the previous class. For example, mage learns “magic barrier” to reduce consecutive damage which is still handy for a knight.
Cross classing is neat! I would have liked more of it and for classes to stand out more. Some of the classes just feel like playing similar roles but slightly different animations.

[h2][u]Gameplay – Tactical Combat[/u][/h2]

Now as for the actual combat - it’s alright. Pretty basic hexagon tactical combat. Each encounter is executed using phase-based turns. All player lances go, then all enemy lances go, repeat. Melee lances can only attack an adjacent hex while the ranged have a range that I am still not entirely what it is due to a lack of displayed attack/move range. This lack of information about how far I can move/attack is rather frustrating. There are too many times I moved with the intent to attack only to just sit and stare at the enemy because I didn’t have enough movement to also attack. Then next turn the enemy gets the first strike. Fun.

Not really too much to say. Combat is pretty simple and just involves melee, ranged, or magic (also ranged). There are no active abilities to use. They are all passive and up to the character to use them themselves. All you can do is direct a lance to move/attack and then it is up to the lance itself to resolve the encounter. I’m a fan of the hands-off approach, but it does get a little dull eventually. As I said before – I ultimately did not finish the game. At some point each battle just felt like a chore, dull and a slog to get through. It didn’t help that they kept getting longer as the enemy was fielding more and more units.

It starts out pretty fun, but eventually just wasn’t for me. I do recognize others, especially fans of auto-battlers, may really enjoy this though. Some sort of option to auto-resolve would maybe help so could at least skip the trivial encounters. Now – the world map displays the enemies on the screen. So can just not run into them. But sometimes they do block the only path forward. Plus, skipping all random encounters is a good way to get wrecked by story encounters. Gear and levels definitely make a difference. There are some encounters I thought were a little too rough with enemy archers on a high ground shooting me when I can’t reach them back.

I managed to beat the encounter but it demotivated me and made me realize I didn’t want to keep grinding just to beat the story encounters. It just got a little too grindy for me.

[h2][u]Story[/u][/h2]
As can probably tell from the name of the game – it’s definitely JRPG inspired. The world is a unique one that seems to be influenced by real world cultures following even the ruler titles such as daimyo. In typical JRPG fashion, there is a blend of knights, samurai, magic and guns.

As for the story – three sisters must raise an army for their home country after a disaster displaces them from home. Nothing too special, but enough to gain interest.

[h2][u]Artistic Direction[/u][/h2]
It looks cute and serviceable at first but once you get deeper into the game there becomes an apparent problem. Everyone literally looks the same. It really looks like the same face and head structure is used over and over and the hair and skin color changes on a RNG basis. It’s a little off-putting.

One thing I do like about this system though is that the gear actually changes the appearance of the character portraits and sprites. That’s a definite kudos.

Music was alright. Nothing was too memorable as to make me want to listen outside of playing the game. But the tracks served the mood alright.

I’m also not a fan of the map design. I often struggle to navigate towns and sometimes get lost with where I am supposed to go. UI is cumbersome at times where I feel like it’s actively fighting against what I am trying to do.

[h2][u]Summary[/u][/h2]
I have a lot of criticism for this game and I was not even able to finish it yet I am deciding to give it a recommendation. There are a few reasons for this. One, I recognize the developer studio is small – very small, like a team of three I believe. For their first game, this is pretty neat, especially for such an ambitious project. I can tell they put a lot of love into the game, which alone made it worth playing through and I don’t regret the purchase. I give the criticisms not out of malice, but just as feedback as what could use improved in a future game.

The short version: this could be a great game but right now it feels like the middle development phase of an early access title.

UI needs a lot of work - looks like placeholder graphics, is unintuitive and inconsistent (sometimes you right click, sometimes you need to press esc, sometimes buttons dont do what they did before)

QOL is missing in most places
(want to craft 50 leather? click 50 times - no slider, artificial progress bar during crafting that does nothiung except steal my time)

Troop/Lance management needs some serious polish

level up is nice but a click fest - why do I have to click to get new cards dealt, when there is no way around it? just deal them and save me a 3 clicks (this sums up to hundreds of clicks in a short while since you have tons of characters to manage)

About 1-2 crashes every hour during combat (render error) and outside during shopping - extremely annoying

If you press ESC during "cut scenes" you can get stuck and need to alt+f4 out of the game

WASD movement on the map is atrocious (sorry but it really is)

I have NO idea why the devs would go the real time route (read news post) and not fix up the base game.

I would give this a thumbs sideways with strong potential for thumbs up if things get fixed up some.

I was hoping for something like Battle Brothers but more macro, with platoons and it's not really that. This seems to be more like a story based JRPG type thing. But actually it's not really that either.

Anyway, to summarize what I didn't like...

I thought the UI was clunkier than it should have been. I'd have liked to move around with the mouse. You're moving around with WASD and pressing the space bar a lot.

There's too much 'go here and do this' stuff. A bit like fetch quests, but all you do is talk to people.

The combat really isn't that interesting. You move your platoon next to who you want to attack, they attack, and your opponent gets a counterattack. Unless the AI does some really stupid things and maybe even then, you're not going to beat a superior opponent. There are no terrain influences except that there are some squares you can't move into. It's also permadeath, which I like a lot, but the appraisals that you get of your enemies are not accurate, which does not mix well with permadeath. I was told I was twice as strong as one group of opponents, but when I actually took them on I was clearly not in the same class as them.

The platoon level is an interesting concept, but you don't really care much about any character. I think you give people equipment and they do level up, but it's a long way from 'intimate character development'. I couldn't tell you the names of anyone in my "army".

I don't want to crap on this too much though. It's a niche title. There are people out there who would like this game. There's a sweet spot here for people who like extremely basic turn-based combat games where you don't have to think too much, and who also like JRPGs. But if you're not into that mix then the negatives of this game will outweigh the positives.

以下の点に耐えられず、一時間程プレイして返金リクエストしました。。
・全体的に操作に対する反応が遅い。もっさりしている。
・全画面でプレイすると画面端までポインタが動かない（これは環境依存かも）
・ユニットの編成がしづらい。一回選択状態にして目的の部隊にカーソルを移動させて決定ボタンを押すのですが
　部隊が増えると目的の部隊まで移動するのに物理的な時間がかかるので
　選択状態にしたら自動的にどこの部隊に配置するか選ぶモードに遷移すればよかったと思う
・ユニットの装備変更がしづらい。最強装備ボタンが欲しい・・・。
・ズームアウト幅が短いので戦場を俯瞰視点で見ることが出来ず、
　木とかに邪魔されてユニットがどこに居るのか把握するのにぐるぐるカメラを回転させないといけない。
・解像度が低く上記に書いたような、動作がワンテンポ遅いなどの色々な要素が重なり、見下ろし方のゲームなのに3D酔いする
・日本語訳に違和感（意味は分かるがニュアンスや感情が伝わってこない）
・文字が小さくて読みづらい

一番の問題として全体的に操作性が直感的ではなく、やろうとすることに対して
一手間二手間かかるためストレスが溜まる点と酔いに耐えられませんでした。。
この操作性で、育成や装備の購入をするために町を探索する必要があるのも辛い。パネル選択式とかで良かった
総じて自分には合いませんでした。

So I had been keeping an eye on this game for a little while and picked it up on sale for the Holidays, at almost 3 hours I can say it's not a bad game but needs some polish and quality of life features. I'm still fairly early into the game so take everything I say with a grain of salt.

I like the idea behind the Lances and having groups of characters act as a single unit when it comes to fighting, while it's a bit hands off since you can't directly tell each character in a Lance what to do, the characters class does a good job telling you what they will do in combat. When it comes to characters I wish I could allocate points to what stats I want outside of the card system. I'm still learning how to chose what class is best for what characters I have and all that based off what cards I get by the time I max them out in their starting classes.

I'd like to have the option to buy multiple pieces of equipment at a time, not a major thing since the fitting room is there I just like to buy gear in advance myself.

I wish there was more customization/control over my soldiers for the most part, kinda one of my big things when it comes to games like this really.

I will say I did experience a crash after about 2 hours or so, while fighting some undead in a mine, might be something to look out for there.

Like I said I'm still playing the game and still early on, so I'll update this review if I have any major changes in my opinion, but overall I'm enjoying the experience and I look forward to this game's future since it seems the dev is still updating it.

So here's the thing: I would REALLY love to give this a thumbs up. However, in its current state, it's very difficult to play through. The number of bugs I've encountered is pretty high, and we're talking about crashing during the middle of a battle (forcing you to restart), units not loading on the beginning of the battle, or simply not being able to access the door to the next area. I feel like this game has a LOT of potential, but in its current state, I would recommend holding off, or at least waiting until it is on sale.

tl;dr - Fun game. Save and restart the game OFTEN, or else.

Fun game in general, very reminiscent to Langrisser and Super Robot Wars. You and the enemy take turn in phases, there is no speed or initiative to determine turn order for movement, only during an engagement. There is a decent amount of race/class possibilities and the game encourages to mix it up often.

However, the downside is: the game is hindered with a terrible memory leak that will inevitably cause the game to crash if you have been playing for more than an hour. I highly recommend to save often and restart the game once every hour, or bad things will start to happen.

What kind of bad things?
• The game may crash.
• The UI becomes unresponsive and you are forced to close the game.
• The file gets corrupted and your party data will get scrambled. (i.e. Humans will become wolves, said wolves will have weapons and armors equipped while being able to class change into both human and wolf classes. OR... you get duplicates of existing party members.)

游戏的画面风格让我想起了JRPG中的佳作《八方旅人》，那部作品开设了HD-2D的先河，画面效果也十分精致。而本作也是以2D像素人物加3D周边环境的形式展现出与同类游戏与众不同的风范，只不过相较于《八方旅人》的体量，本作就显得有些粗糙了，尽管像素小人不需要打磨过于精细，但游戏的环境细节确实有些难堪，特别是白天将近亮瞎眼的明暗度，以及拉近镜头那视距几乎贴脸的景深，观感只能说勉强及格，对于一款独立游戏而言，也不能说很差，总之是能看的过去，游戏中的场景还是很多的，包含了森林/村庄/沙漠/洞窟/各类城镇等场景，内容十分充足。

[h1]浅尝辄止的战棋系统[/h1]
本作的主要内容为回合制战棋对敌玩法，与同类游戏不同的是，本作是以多个人物角色组建的战队为单位进行操控，上手操作难度并不高，只需要在地图场景中算好该走的步数，以及利用近战远攻与敌人交战即可，需要深究的地方是在配队方面，由于本作的职业角色种类数量众多，角色之间的职业与用途也不同，因此搭配出一个平衡或理想的战队也需要耗费不少时间。要说美中不足的地方，就是整个战棋系统过于简单，战场随机性较少，操控起来不需要深入研究。

制作组为游戏更新了中文值得称赞，但就我当前玩的版本来说，翻译质量偏差，不少句式都跟没有润色过一样，甚至还有翻译缺失的地方，明明这句对话还是中文，到了下句就变回英文了。

本作的场景镜头是依靠Q/E两个按键来控制左右转向的，但每转一次都要停顿一下，无法流畅自由转向，只能逐渐调整，操作起来很是别扭。

整体而言，作为一款小体量的回合制战棋游戏来说，本作2D+3D相结合的画面形式表现还是较为新颖的，可自由探索的世界场景也提供了相当丰富的内容量，以多人物战队为单位的战棋对敌玩法上手难度不高，即便是战棋新手也能轻松游玩，推荐感兴趣的玩家入手。

This game's awesome. It's a combination of tactical rpg and squad based but you also have to work with each individual and how they all come together as a team, but it's not complicated! The main campaign's plot is pretty darn good too and the graphics work for this type of game. I enjoy the music, if you don't turn it down and crank your music list instead and you're golden. Lots of different types of units though humans are the main ones.

START OFF BY SAYING GAME USES PERMADEATH LIKE FIRE EMBLEM!!!! So this game feels like a combination of final fantasy tactics and The Last Remenant. You have little mini armies or "lances" made up of front and back units (mages/archers back and warriors etc upfront). Its important to make your team a balance of healers and mages (some classes double as both), archers and warrior classes. There is a paladin class that can cover for a healer if you wanted an extra archer or mage. The game takes a lot of strategy, grinding and team management. However, the game is a lot of fun over all. The downside is literally no voice acting AT all and the magic attacks could use better animation, aside from that this game is a lot of fun. 8/10 for any strategy fan out there looking for a good challenge.

for those who like to both play mount and blade and turn based strategy will get a kick out of this just from recruiting alone, with vast array of potental units from fairies to dragons, from skelingtons to wolves. The fact that each recruit has a name makes you value them as comrades and not just nameless soldiers, which makes losing them to pemadeath a painful experiance.

however some improvements could be added to it though, 2 such examples are knowing when some units are classed as story units or main characters such as the 3 sisters you start out with, I learned the hard way that even they are not immune to peradeath and losing one is game over I need to know.

Also everyone is different, each new recruit should have some sort of rarity to them with the legendary ones being tougher, and get better stat boosts than the common ones to make things intresting or even have a prefered class which could boost their exp gain and stats even more
finally we need to add a map the means to get one as it can be so easy to get lost.
just a surgestion or 2 to the developers. Other than that its very good.

I tried to like this game. But I just couldn't fall for it like I did for Ogre Battle. This took the parts of Ogre Battle 64 that I didn't care about or like, tossed in an odd character class system into it.

Are the classes unique? Yes. But each of these unique classes only seem to have one type of attack. For battle, only the people that took part in an attack would get experience so the implication would be to make specialised teams for melee and ranged/magic but nope, doesn't work. Ranged characters are left defenceless and can be picked off by enemy units quickly because their range attack range was within the range of the enemy's movement + attack range.

Also healing? You get a few healing classes but they heal right after an enemy does 1 damage and leaves it open to be hit for more damage after that healing by another enemy attack. Also the healing classes can ONLY heal the unit (or lance as they're called) that they're in. Meaning if your lance is a ranged attacking group and don't take any damage means your healers do not get any experience to grow into mages.

Story...sorry I couldn't get into the game enough to be able to get immersed into the story.

Great game, a lot Final Fantasy Tactics and more so Ogre Battle and Tactics Ogre of old. Combat is done with squads rather then individual heroes. Its not a game where the minor companions are side lined over the main heroes. However, the game is rouge like by default with death being forever.

Only problem is the UI scaling is a little off. Takes some time to find a good combination of Resolution and settings to be readable.

I found a lot of the complaints in the top review don't hold water.

I like the fact that you don't have god-like fine tune control of every attribute that gets upgraded. It adds an element of planning and resourcefulness. Maybe you planned to have a guy be a Warlock, but his cards are all coming up Berserker. If you're smart you will pivot. It makes leveling up have a lot of strategic choice. The colors attributes are particularly strategic since increasing one decreases another.

I'm finding I have way more money than I know what to do with. Sure you can't just outfit your guys with the best equipment available at any given shop. You have to be strategic about your purchasing choices. And plan ahead. Will you have some Tinkers in your future party? Make sure you have Armor for them.

Battles are very strategic. You don't have perfect information. Why is it weird not to know the attributes of your enemy? I think its weird if I know the Willpower of some rando I just met on the battle field. You can tell the configuration of enemy squadrons by looking at their armor and weapons. You'll want to approach Mage units with Lances that won't melt. Rush the archer units, pull back from the Melee units and draw them into situations where you can surround and eliminate. If you play tactically the only battles you might lose people in are the boss battles.

A note on experience. Your characters gain experience when they do stuff. So you have complete control over who levels and how fast. If you put a melee unit to guard a ranged unit, don't be surprised if he never levels up. If the ranged unit is always attacking from far (and not getting attacked), that melee guy is just twiddling his thumbs all battle. If you use your strongest units for all attacks, again, don't be surprised if the newer weaker guys don't level. Use the units you want to go up in levels. You have complete control over how quickly units level.

Overall its a really good game. I have experienced a few UI weirdnesses with the timing of button presses. And the game has crashed a couple times after playing for a long time. But with the autosave feature its never been devastating.

This game is fun but it crashes all the time. I have a crappy computer so it is more likely my computer fault than the game. I started a second game and i got stuck on the pyramid gate where professor wigglesworth did not spawn and i can not advance the story any further. I am getting a new computer so that should fix the issues i am having i hope. As far as this game goes it is everything i want in a tactic RPG lots of characters to lvl up and not too tedious to keep up with everything. I would recommend this game if you love to level up characters and just enjoy watching them battle.

If you really like character building, this is likely to be pretty fun for you, I've been loving it.

One bit of advice to get a bit more immersed in the game, whenever someone joins your party, go in to their character page, and on the right side there is a part where you can write notes, write down who they are, what they were doing when you met them, why they joined you, etc, maybe what type of build you're thinking of using them for. It is kinda neat later in when you've got a good number of people to be able to look back and remember where you got them all.

Definitely feels like a older style jrpg and i appreciate that, bit of a tales of and FF tactics feel and army building.

i would love to see this game take off for the folks.

The Good:
Music is pleasant
Drea thinks the spirits are cute
story starts simple and grows as you play (not to much at a time, but not dead slow)

The Bad:
Lots of reading, but i understand VO work can be challenging
Lances cant react and support each other.
Combat camera is not intuitive, needs to be manually adjusted to see ranged attacks

Fantastic Game!!!

I'm enjoying it a lot so far. For a long time I've been searching for a game with a similar format to Ogre Battle 64. This game does a good job of scratching that itch. I always enjoy games where you have a diverse class system, but aren't limited to a small party size like with classic RPGs, but rather you have a large army of multiple characters that you can organize and strategize with.

I hope the game continues to grow and that folks use the editor mode to make new levels and stories.
