fun little roguelike , bit hard and repettitive , but quite addictive.

RNG rage sim. The game refuses to give any of the actual items that are decent and provide a power creep. All you ever get is the common and uncommon perks and skills, which makes the game feel abysmal to play.. super slow grindy zero power fantasy. Enjoy being a weak ass ♥♥♥♥♥ forever. Also what kind of developer make a dungeon crawler with zero pick up range..... seriously im tired of standing on the center of every drop to pick it up. If you like farming vendor trash with no real progression this game is 100% for you.

게임을 많이 해본 건 아니지만 육성에 대한 재미 만큼은 확실한 게임이라고 생각함.
RPG를 좋아해서 여러가지 게임을 해봤는데 특히 갓오브워나 사이버펑크 위처 등 몰입해서 하다보면
어느새 최종컨텐츠에 도달하고 거기서 채워지지 않는 육성에 대한 갈증을 느끼게 됨.
그래서 도달한 결론은 계속 강해질 수 있는 컨텐츠가 필요하다.... 그리고 스스로 동기를 부여해서
강해져야 할 이유를 찾아야한다....
결론은 핵 앤 슬래시....
뭐 아이템이 엄청 다양하고 부여할 수 있는 옵션이 폭넓진 않지만
저 같은 올드게이머에겐 충분한... 그런 느낌입니다... 그래서 재밌게 하고 있고 재밌게 할 예정입니다.
저 같은 분들에게 추천합니다.
Super fun! Reminds me of Gauntlet! I love it!
It's a cool little game, but it doesn't really shine in any of the areas it's competing in. As a roguelite it's pretty weak, compared to the other big names. As an RPG, the options in terms of character builds, spells, etc ... are quite limited. As for the city building, it's just there for meta-progression, so quite limited as well.
It's also missing some QoL improvements and important features (namely trading) for multiplayer.
The music is pleasant, the game plays well, but it kind of ends there. For me, it's the type of game that can be played here and there, one run at a time, but not the type that will make me addicted, and wanting to play until unreasonable hours.
I also think boss fights are not well designed, and frankly a bit unfun. I've only seen 3 different bosses so far, but they all follow the same pattern : Massively overtuned compared to enemies of the same area, using a lot of wide AoE attacks, in an arena with a ton of "floor is lava" tiles that your character can't stand in (or they will take damage/be slowed down/etc ...). This makes the fights unreasonably difficult, especially for classes with smaller HP pools.
Add to that the fact that there is very little room to affect variance in the game, meaning you're highly dependent on raw luck to get good items that will help your run (and let me tell you ; so far that hasn't been the case for me). If at least you could exchange items with your friends back at the camp, that would make things easier, but unfortunately that's not a thing.
But well ... it's still a fun game overall. I guess i just wouldn't recommend it to someone that asks me for a good roguelite, unless they've already played everything else.

Super addicting game, i like it so much. Playing on my steamdeck all the time, when i have a brief moment. The only downside, is that it is not optimized for late-game dungeons and lagging too much. Hope devs will optimize it for steamdeck. Other than that, game is almost perfect! Progression is amazing, skills and dynamics also. The only thing i wish that devs would change, is dungeon generation to be much more random, because locations order feels the same everytime, so current randomness is not enough.
don't pick ranger as your first character
also, as a ranger, you would probably want to have a bow on STR, not DEX, as it has an imba RMB attack (hold left button for auto-attack, spam right button to perform a gattling like attack on top of the main weapon)

It's just a fun roguelike
Fun game. Many different builds and most are end game viable. no real story. linear progression. Overall a solid purchase
I've definitely been having a lot of fun playing this game. I like that all the classes feel unique to play and have their own strategies to take on each area and boss. The gameplay is satisfying, so it doesn't just feel like you're grinding metaprogression, which is a trap I feel like roguelikes get into. I don't know if I'll get into endgame stuff, but I feel like the basic game is quite fun for me.

Very fun multiplayer game.
It has much potential, for now is a bit short. You get to the end game boss fairly fast and from there it's just starting again with higher difficulty. Really like the idea of having a higher level character helping in some ways the other lower ones. For example having a high lvl wizard will give spell power to all other characters, incredibly useful. Or having a Warlock will give them resistances.
Like Diablo 3 but good.
I greatly enjoyed my time with this game.
I feel it improves on class separation and build generation than the first game.
The runs feel rewarding and the first completed run feels extremely satisfying. The bosses provide much more than game 1 in my opinion as well.
I cannot speak on NG+ or further as I have not reached that point, but for the 22 hours I spent in regular runs on several different characters I think the game is a quality spend.

Pros:
1. It works (0 bugs found, it doesnt crash, at least for me)
Cons:
1. Instead of looting few meaningful items that actualy make each run feel different, you loot a billion meaningless tiny items ehich you can't even feel - therefore each run feels the exact same.
2. You clear the same maps every time, very little content. It just takes a long time to clear a full zone, that's why it kinda feeld like there's something to do, but it's very repetitive.

a solid follow up to a perfect title in the original. it feels larger than the first and looks beautiful in comparison, i feel it doesnt have the same longevity the first did but still adds new mechanics. totally worth the buy, its also worth noting i havent played since launch or near launch at least.

Game was amazing at the start, no issues at all. Great game play. Gameplay is still great. I'm not sure if there's a save file issue or something. But what I can tell you is after NG+1 my friend and I playing online coop will have our games lock up. Locking up to the point where we have to force close and restart the game.
Sometimes it will be his game only, sometimes its my game, sometimes its both. I run Fedora, he runs Windows 11. Single player causes no lock ups, but the moment we group together its a matter of time. We are not the only ones reporting this issue as there's been a couple people reporting the same issue on discord.
I think the biggest disappointment is the lack of support from the developer. Both of us have sent in crash logs for the game via email and their discord support channel. All 4 reports have yet to have any response from developers. Not even a "We are looking into it". These were sent 2-3 weeks ago now.
Great game, bad support, game from a coop level is borked and I can't recommend.

Was pleasantly surprised by this game. There is a ton of depth to it and lots of replay-ability. Also it is great with friends or solo.
Excellent fun. I loved Heroes of Hammerwatch 1 and this is a big upgrade in a lot of ways without losing the charm and appeal that the first game had. Highly recommended

While yes, it's technically a rouge-ish, it's on the easier side of the genre. It's shorter than I'd like, but what's here is pretty good. I suppose it could also be described as an incremental in a very roundabout way, another genre I have a fondness for.
Comparing to the previous Heroes of Hammerwatch:
The main meta progression is largely the same, building up your town and buying upgrades within it for your characters using the resources gained during runs. Just like in the previous game, you will want to play all of the characters, as levelling them up gives more meta progression bonuses to other characters. Unlike the previous, resources lost due to taxes on a "failed run" also contribute to meta progression.
What we've lost:
Keys and locked chests/doors (yay). Puzzles (boo). While it makes sense for a rogue ish game in this style to do away with keys, I do wish that puzzle rooms would have stayed. Those were a standout from the original Hammerwatch. Also, it's reasonable to beat the main dungeon without modifying it (yay, ♥♥♥♥ the fountain, if you know you know).
What we've gained:
Every "level" has a unique flavor. Even the ones that are 'the same' have a unique flair to them. One forest level is in the day, another at dusk, another at night. One dungeon level is clean and sterile, the next is bloody and corrupt. Gone are the days of back to back identical tilesets.
Also, you can do a lot more to customize your character now. Not aesthetically (boo), but mechanically (yay). There's diablo style loot, and the weapons you have dictate your first and second abilities. Third and fourth (and first passive) are dictated by the character you have chosen. Fifth (and second passive) are based on a sub class you can choose after progressing to character level 10.
And then there's the buildcrafting IN THE RUN. Draw 3, pick 1. I want the devs to add more options in future updates, but what's here is pretty good. Trinkets return from the previous game, but there's also options for your character abilities.
In short, it looks like the devs learned from their previous games and built what the community wants.
What I want:
More post launch support than what the previous Heroes of Hammerwatch got. That one got a couple DLC's one of which kinda sucked.
Endless Mode: I want it, I don't like having my run cut off right when I finally have my build in 'go mode' just because I've 'won'. Warn me that it's not supported, and give me the option to throw myself into increasingly harder chaotic levels that are a mixmash of everything else in the game. Let me play my build intil it breaks or the game breaks me.
