The last game in the series and picks up in a new place. The 4th wall breaking you find in the 2nd Episode is not repeated here though. This is the longest of all the Episodes and is quite well paced. You do run back and forth, but it's mostly in the last set of locactions.

Overall, same British humor and dark jokes.

A throwback to the golden age of point-and-click adventures - back when games didn’t tiptoe around every word for fear of offending someone. You play as Hector, a cynical and unapologetically brutal British police inspector, and your mission is to track down and stop a terrorist. The game consists of three episodes that form a coherent story full of absurd tasks and exaggerated characters. The graphic style is cartoonish but not childish. This is not a game for the youngest players.

Humour is definitely the game’s strongest point (though I understand it might not be to everyone’s taste). Hector doesn’t mince words - dialogues are sharp, unfiltered, and don’t shy away from profanity. Everything fits perfectly with the game’s tone: grotesque, politically incorrect, and dripping with sarcasm. It’s the kind of comedy that might get you a knock on the door from the British police if you quoted it on social media today - and honestly, that is the best endorsement I can give.

Il terzo ed ultimo capitolo che ci poterà dentro a situazioni ancor di più paradossali ed apocalittiche. Forse s'è puntato di più sull'esagerazione e tantissime citazioni sulle vecchie avventure grafiche rispetto agli altri due precedenti capitoli, ma ciò nonostante la trama sa ancora farsi seguire fino alla fine.
Al contrario dei precedenti capitoli che offrivano più libertà al giocatore, in questo episodio finale tutti gli enigmi e la progressione nella storia saranno votati alla linearità nel sconfiggere la nostra nemesi. Non cambia molto la sostanza nel gameplay,
Per concludere questo episodio finale di Hector si limita ad offrire quanto promesso nell'intero arco della saga, nè più, nè meno. Con qualche piccola limatura avrebbe potuto essere sugli stessi livelli del secondo episodio. Resta comunque un piacevole ritorno e conclusione a questa avventura.

EDIT: a quanto pare la pagina dell'episodio 3 è diventata quella della trilogia completa.

The game was obviously done over time, with each subsequent episode new ideas were tried out, and fleshed out. So the quality of the episodes is inconsistent.
This is my review, episode by episode.

Ep 1:
A cute little adventure games.
Okay-ish humor.
Roughly 1.5-2 hours to finish.
An 6/10 adventure game.

On the plus side - I can mention the hinting system, which provides much-needed hints to explain what to do next.
This saves you the trouble of leaving the game to find an online walkthrough.
And has it's own unique charm (the walkthrough is not just presented. Instead you have a progressing series of hints you can follow)

The full game costs $15, but historical low is $1.5 (90% off)
And usually goes on sale for $3.75 (75% off)

Ep 2:
Much better planned/executed adventure game than Episode 1
Much less of the game is scripted, and more are are actions you perform with your character.
Overall feels much longer than part 1.
Has betted/smarter puzzles to solves.
And much better humor & pop culture references.

You also have 2 different characters you can swap between (part of the game).

Overall, much better than Episode 1.

Ep 3:
Similar to Ep 2. Longer. Better. And with more cutscenes.
Episode 3 contains all we've come to expect from previous episodes.
It also contains numerous location changes, which makes it feel that much longer.

On the minus side - In this chapter it's less clear where to go and what needs to be done next, than the previous chapters.

The humour is crude and obscene, but it is not too graphic, and the characters do not swear explicitly. No character experiences a "personality arc" as the narrative progresses, but that is also fine.

There are no manual saves here, and the controls are based around the left mouse button only which is perhaps due to it being also available on mobile platforms. Dialogue is skipped the same way every other action is performed - with the same left mouse button, and that is a bit annoying. There appears to be no way to quickly transition between "rooms" until the protagonist is given a map, so fast travelling is not available from the beginning of every episode.

I ran into a bug in the third episode which prevented a certain event from happening until a certain trigger - it seems the protagonist needed to present an incomplete puzzle solution first to one other character. That solved the issue, but such a requirement was not obvious to me. Fortunately, vague hints are available within the game to nudge the player in the right direction, as well as a complete list of solutions, but I was reluctant to use it - instead I wasted some time thinking I simply overlooked something. The overall game length across all three episodes amounts to around 10 hours.

Telltale, the company that tried to kill the adventure game with their derivative, self-playing, Sophie’s choice-laden, episodic zombie turds, (a formula then applied to other comics IPs,) couldn't write a decent Point n' Click, but they did publish one, developed by a 3rd party.

Decent, not great.
Quality of life is bare minimum, lacking 2011 basics such as hot spots keys, fast walks or manual saves.

The writing is mostly good though.
Its weakness is a reliance on potty humour, a.k.a. prepubescent comedy, throughout a sex, drugs and violence-studded story, i.e., one for adults.
Thus one personality of the schizoid writer elicits 2nd-hand embarrassment, while their alter-ego inspires some laughs via absurd or black humour.

The jerk protagonist is sufferable because he is a villain; playing a brutal, shameless sociopath is rare and can be fun.
Also because he suffers himself most of the predicaments and humiliations in copious comeuppances.
Also thanks to his wordy creativeness for expletives, insults, cynical quips, or the most basic attempts at conversation.
The one thing he is not is bland and boring. Er... the 2 things.

As for the gameplay, the puzzles are good.
On the not-too-easy side, and on the sensical side.
An help feature is integrated into dialogue with a NPC; you can't get spoiled by a misclick.

10+ years later, I remembered mostly the 3rd episode for its gameplay and landscapes.
With the 1st episode next, for the grossness of the introduction, then the fun of some later scenes.
The 2nd episode barely rang any bell, even while playing, but I wouldn't recommend skipping it anyway.

Decent point n' click, though 'decent' might not be the most accurate description. More like... up to snuff.

This is a modest game. All 3 episodes combined aren't too long or particularly elaborate, but they have it where it counts in their puzzles and especially their humor. Hector and his partner Lambert play off each other brilliantly and the game is full of dark comedy where none of the jokes fall flat and wit meets absurdity. Even the hint system is funny to read and is good at putting you on the right path without giving things away unless you ask it to.

If you're in the mood for a good laugh and a fun point and click adventure game, this is a nice one-off adventure to play.

Is this game a masterpiece? Yes, but only if you like the vulgar humor. Some people may find it a bit disgusting, but I'd say it is about the level of Married… with Children. You play a slightly alcoholic, corrupted and perverted police detective, who still does try to do the right thing (most of the time). When a maniac threatens his hometown, you are the one to bring him to justice and save (most of) the town. The game is a classic point and click adventure - collect items and use them at the right place. Since you usually encounter clues on how to solve problems, most puzzles are not really difficult. The most difficult thing is sometimes finding the items. No real pixel-hunting, but you can oversee some things if you race through the locations.

Technically the game works fine, although I had to restart twice in episode 1 because the mouse cursor disappeared. No real problem, since it autosaves in every room. There is also a blocker bug as well, if you do not take an item before leaving one room, it disappears and you have to restart. Since the item is large and clearly visible, it is hard to miss, though. Apart from that, I had no problems until the end. The game is not epic long, but it is not that short either. Took me a few hours to solve the case.

Funny, fully voiced point and click adventure. A masterpiece, but only if you enjoy the crass humor.

Excellent finale of highly entertaining and wonderfully crass “Hector: Badge of Carnage” point’n’click trilogy.

Still in a pursuit of ecologically minded domestic terrorist, Hector REALLY puts everything on the line for the town of Clapper’s Wreake. Well, “pursuit” is more like Hector and his faithful doormat, sorry - sidekick, Lambert, stumbling in all kinds of traps very obviously set up for them by the psychopath, as evidenced by the start of the third episode where both wake up in a septic tank. Not just your average septic tank, but the kind where Hector needs to continuously run on a treadmill to keep them alive. Hector. Run. Run on a treadmill. There are relatively few things he’d find more atrocious than this heinous act, so all of this suddenly becomes deeply personal. Following the footsteps of delusional maniac, however, Hector is about to witness the entire town blissfully unaware of being few hours away from annihilation, happily getting wasted and enjoying questionable carnival rides. It’ll be only up to him and Lambert to stop the madness. There will be competitions, fighting and sauerkraut (Possibly. It’s really hard to say what kind of food “that thing” was.)

The narration continues to be simultaneously witty, entertaining, and full of one-liners right along with vulgar, risqué and unabashedly insensitive, enough to make this more of a “niche” point’n’click. British humor with a dead-pan delivery of smart-aleck comments quite often interspersed with potty, x-rated and brash jokes that will either make you a fan or turn you off. Everyone is getting insulted equally here, so it’s up to you whether the “no walking on eggshells” comedy is your thing. If it is – Hector will most likely occupy a little dark place in your cold, deserted heart. This is a case of quality-written adventure that has a distinctive style and sticks to it throughout entire trilogy making no apologies about it, and it’s not for easily offended.

Inventory puzzles, dialogues and all the interactions with the world will reflect this rather crude and raunchy approach all through the episode. You’ll meet quite a few favorite characters (that’s a joke – who likes them?), and get loads of absurdity-filled dialogues where, quite often, only Hector makes any sense, so the quaint beauty of Clapper’s Wreake won’t be lost on you, don’t worry! There might be a few moments where it can be a bit unclear of what is needed to be done next, but remember – use “Hector’s logic”, aka doing something gross/callous/downright disgusting without a blink of an eye or a second of regret, and you’ll be on the right track. The overall goal of the game is never lost, which isn’t hard considering that THE ENTIRE TOWN AND ITS CITIZENS ABOUT TO BE WIPED OFF THE SURFACE OF THE PLANET WITHIN A FEW HOURS isn’t something that is really easy to forget. For those not used to the, let’s call it… interesting way of doing things Hector employs – there are subtle hints available through asking Lambert about the next move, and in case of a total blank – a built-in hint system that is an excellent example of satire in itself. If you want to keep asking for hints just so you can see another entertaining suggestion while being mildly insulted – there’s no judgement, only understanding.

Just like Hector’s love life – the look of the game is that of an uncomplicated cartoon filled with caricatures and zero nuance. It’s familiar, inviting and enviably well-suited for all the lewdness and violence perpetuated throughout the series. A constant visual reminder that all the sarcastic quips and disturbing situations are comedic in nature and not meant to be taken seriously. Plus, you will also get a glimpse of Hector and Lambert’s buttocks – they are exquisitely drawn and animated… No. No, they are not.

Music, as in the previous two episodes, is pleasantly passable and isn’t a highlight of the game, and the voice-over is wonderful and very “Hector, if that makes sense. It is indie, nothing too grand, but it’s very well-done. All the cheeky comments by glorious Detective Inspector, pleading lamentations of Lambert and various attitudes of NPCs ( such as properly odd countryside farmer, overconfident chief of Police and young gal who’s just trying to make a buck by selling “special” cakes to get her entire family out of jail) are delivered with just a right amount of gusto, generously adding to a comedy core.

By this point, It should be crystal clear that enjoyment from the trilogy will entirely depend on your like/dislike of THIS kind of humor. If all the edgy stuff you’ve read about in the review doesn’t seem like your thing – “Hector: Badge of Carnage” will not be a series for you, as It lives and dies by the provocative narration. If you, however, happened to be a connoisseur of ♥♥♥♥-talking then look no further, as this game delivers not just jokes but a wholesome point’n’click experience all across the board. As a reminder, despite that all three episodes are absolutely worth the regular price, they frequently go on sale for $5 (yes, all of them combined), so It is easy to enjoy this quality adventure without breaking the bank. If you really look at It – this is a bargain to pay for participating in the “who’s the ugliest contest” or trying to outsmart a naughty leprechaun. You always wanted to try those things, right?

Easily the best of the bunch. The writing got better and jokes are even funny now at times, Hector is more relatable, got a proper climax, otherwise it's just more of the same, decent adventure game.

Still, I can't recommend the episodes for a full price, I got them at fairly low price and was quite happy with them (mostly).

Getting right into this, you play as Hector a highly un-liked officer. Due to the ineptitude of the force they call you in to either negotiate a successful hostage situation or die trying. What ends up happening is a mad dash all over the town trying to meet the demands of the terrorist.

The game is not a bad game however it is only a game for a very small niche crowd. The game is heavily laced with vulgar content (not laced but packed). Your main character (as you later on will play as your partner as well) is pretty much hated by everyone with the exception of 4 people. So, each encounter will have its degree of standoff conversations.

In fact, many of the puzzles require you to ask every question sometimes in the correct order to progress the plot or unlock new plot items. Puzzles are pretty straight forward and will not take long to complete. In fact, each chapter can be completed in roughly 4-5 hours if you are good with puzzle games.

The graphics are not state of the art. However, this is not a game that would require it and would probably be a worse game with them. They are comical and well designed. The animations in several locations are not synced and you can definitely see the jumping from one animation to the other (especially when you are in the church). The vocals are in no way synced.

Overall, I would not say this is a bad game but if you are not into games that are vulgar, smut filled, with an obnoxious lead character I would stay away from this game. I own several Telltale games and this is the only one that I have not “recommended”.

A great British toilet comedy point & click game on a buget. Slapstick done right.

The game is on the fence of going into the trash category like Scary Movie and the like. But Hector knows it's limits. It makes a joke out of everything, including of itself. It doesn't take itself seriously enough to become trash. It's a really harsh standup comedy that keeps on giving, even if it has some awkward sidesteps with some questionable jokes. Nothing's perfect.

Pros:
- Brilliant hint system for thick people as me. Very hard to find yourself in a stump. No need for guides or anything like that. The game really respects your time. I say that as someone who plays puzzle and point & click games with walkthroughs all the time;
- Toilet humor, but it knows how to be smart. It's dark, yet without the hardest of swearing words. The insults are carefully thought out British expressions concocted from all over the media;
- Really decent tracks in some locations. Sadly no OST has been released and the game is not very well known.

Cons:
- Only a few voice actors. In the first episode even women are voiced by a male actor, a little annoying but forgiveable;
- Sometimes the humor isn't appropriate, but it's part of the appeal of this genre and it works when it gets to the punchline. Humor is subjective after all. But it might not be for everyone.

Recommended even for people who aren't into solving puzzles. Now after I've finished this game, I'm 1% more sarcastic in life.

An ok P&C adventure. It's pretty stupid, and as usual the solution to some puzzles is just "senseless". But still, this was funny. One drawback for non-native english speakers: this game focuses a lot on dialogues and puns, and the dialogues are usually in a slang, not in correct english. Thus it may be hard to understand what is being said.

Review for all three: Partial recommendation. Sorta meh.. Episode 2 was probably the most entertaining of the three, but overall the writing wasn't great, tried to be a bit too edgy/gross/offensive at times without actually being that funny.

Hector is a crass grump of a cop, so he's not that likable as a protagonist. I got tired of his grumpy "jokes" about (insert noun here). It gets old. I was ready for it to be over before it actually was so I could check it off my list and move on to the next game. I did NOT play all three back to back. Rather, I played other games in between.

I give it a very weak recommendation since there is no neutral choice. It was entertaining at times, had a few genuine laughs here an there (but not enough), and was entertaining enough to kill time and not make me quit before the end which I will do if a game is bad enough, like The Whispering World.

This is the third and final episode of Hector: Badge of Carnage and my favorite since it it has the best plot. Basically, you pick up where the cliffhanger of the second left off and attempt to stop the terrorist before it's too late.

You also get to play as Lambert a bit more than the second episode because only he is able to solve some of the puzzles and talk to certain characters. One of my favorite scenes in the game involves him wandering into the forest and encountering a ridiculous character that only he can see.

Compared to the first two episodes, this one has fewer places to visit, but the main area is rather large and there are many different people to talk to and puzzles to solve. Again, the puzzles aren't terribly difficult, but they're pretty amusing for the most part.

Several characters from the first episode return in this one, so you get to see what happened to them, and usually Hector ends up making their lives worse. It's also the least raunchy episode (well, except for this very large "rocket" that you use) but the humor is still good because it has a lot of the funniest characters.

I also experienced the least amount of bugs with this one, so I was happy with that.

In terms of length, it's a bit longer than the first episode but noticeably shorter than the second, so it was satisfying enough. The buildup to the final confrontation with the terrorist was pretty good, though the ending was a bit blah as it would have been nice to have Hector interact more with the other police officers. I mostly liked this episode because the plot moved along well and you didn't have to meander about as much since you always knew what you needed to do next.

Overall, I'd say that this was a solid conclusion to the trilogy. It's a shame that we won't ever see any new entries in this series because this is one of the more humorous games that carry the Telltale label, and if you like other comedy point-and-click adventure games such as Sam and Max, Day of the Tentacle and Toonstruck then you will probably enjoy this one.

Hilarious and inventive. I caught all three episodes on a stream sale and binged them over a couple of days. No regrets. Extremely entertaining and will leave you wondering what's next for Hector. Heard rumors of a season 2 recently! Hopefully it's true.

Hector: Badge of Carnage - Episode 3: Beyond Reasonable Doom is a game originally developed by Straandlooper and originally published by the now defunct Telltale Games and is now originally 'developed' by LCG Entertainment, Inc. and now published by Athlon Games, Inc.

The game offers some nice graphics, although some ugly glitches here and there, it is pleasant all the same

The game does suffer with some repetitiveness at certain areas of the game but a fun game nonetheless

Hector: Badge of Carnage overall, however, is a fun game to play, yet sometimes repetitive and it does get boring if being played for a long time, but is an okay adventure game to play in short bursts!

The suggested Proton works great on my Linux Mint 18.2
I have really enjoyed the Hector series. The UK language may be odd to some, but after being stationed there I got about 90%, had to look up some references.

Despite the quirks in the engine that exist in all the episodes it is still enjoyable.

This review applies to all 3 episodes of Hector: Badge Of Carnage.
If you like point & click adventures, rude and crude humour and don't care to much about political correctness then this could be a game for you.

The puzzles are logical most of the time but I've found myself twice or thrice missing an object. This is not so much a problem of pixel hunting but more with the unconventional control. With one click you look at an object und with a double click you interact with it. Sometimes Hector just looked at it instead of taking/interacting with it which told me I can't take it and ignored it for a lot of time which brought me trouble with some puzzles. Also there is no hotspot-feature which is fine, because most of the objects are well visible. Two times the gameplay changes to a multi character adventure like The Day Of The Tentacle in which you have to exchange objects with each other and solve problems together wich is awesome. The world and the characters are whacky and strange and fit perfectly in this fictional british town called Clapper's Wreak. The voices on the other hand vary from ok to some 40 yo imitates a young woman through a 1999 headset microphone. Maybe this is humour the wanted and on purpose. The first could be and is some of the time funny but the latter is not ok for a game released in 2010/2011.

Играем за полицейского, который не хочет возникновения теракта. По сюжету предстоит общаться с социальным дном, эгоистичными коллегами и просто людьми, которым на все пофиг. Каждый диалог это изощренный обмен подколками.

Отрицательный отзыв для русских игроков. Hector никому не интересна, про нее никто не знает. Игра в пух и прах разобьет ваше знание английского, т.к. тут много диалектов (в т.ч. ирландский), т.е. среднестатистическому человеку будет тяжело.

Just finished the 3rd episode of Hector. It was such a great game from 1st to 3rd ep! Well balanced in terms of difficulty so that we're not stuck too long on what to do next. Characters and story are fun, I definitly recommend.

One negative point though, is that I experienced some small crashs in game. Thankfully there are autosaves x) !

Una aventura bastante de cachonda. Hector y Lambert son muy top, bueno, todos los personajes del juego lo son, la verdad.
Eso si, en inglés, y con bastantes diálogos.
No es muy complicada, algún puzzle algo rebuscado pero bastante de asequible.
Recomendable completamente, ya podrían haber seguido los de Telltale con aventuras de este tipo, al menos a mi me gustan más que las que acabaron haciendo al final (walking dead, wolf among us...)

Take command of Hector, the obnoxious, foul-mouthed and sleazy police detective, who is somehow still expected to conduct a police investigation against all reason. Hector: Badge of Carnage is a point & click adventure which doesn’t play nice, with an unlikely lead character who’s an anti-hero not seen in adventure games perhaps since Leisure Suit Larry. It’s a fun and funny game, and a very British one, filled with gutter humour and grotesque wittiness. Voice acting is up to par, especially considering it seems to mostly have been done by one guy. A word of caution, though, if sexual innuendo and a pre-occupation with bodily waste make you squeamish, it may not be the ideal game for you.

Avventura grafica non terribile, ma niente di che. Basata molto sulla volgarità, ma che fa sorridere in qualche occasione. Il primo episodio è pessimo, ma gli altri due (specialmente il secondo) almeno sufficienti. Storia nel complesso carina, ma parte audio/tecnica scadente. Gli enigmi sono abbastanza semplici e intuitivi, ma ho apprezzato le parti (specialmente nel 2° episodio) dove si controllano due personaggi facendo scambiare con l'ingegno gli oggetti tra loro per oltrepassare gli enigmi. Non sono uno che ha problemi con l'inglese, ma ho trovato qua e là qualche difficoltà con questo titolo dove viene parlato uno stretto slang british, difficile da capire anche coi sottotitoli. Nel complesso il gioco dura circa 3 ore a episodio, quindi per quello che offre i 20€ del prezzo base sono oltremodo esagerati. Non è totalmente da buttare, ma lo consiglierei solo se gratis o quasi.

I understand crude humour. This game was an attempt to make crude humour as offensive as possible within the bounds of a point and click game without actually crossing the threshold of absolutely inappropriate.

I like dark humour and expected that I would love the game, but all three of these games were utter disappointments. Some of the puzzles were really neat, and some were even fun to solve. Many of them are not. The items are sometimes not easily noticeable, and others have such obscene answers, there is no reason you would expect to figure it out.

If you're looking for some good point and click games, there are so many other ones. Thimbleweed Park, the Monkey Island series, Technobabylon, Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle... Pajama Sam, Putt-Putt, and Freddi Fish.

Honestly, play any other point and click game over this.
