This game is pure gold...ive been playing SimRacing games most of my gaming life, and i coming back to this one all of the times. Bougt this one when it came out on CD and played houndred of hours (still have it but cannot run it), so i bougt it again here on Steam. If youre a fan of an era when racing was manly sport and cars were absoulte gems (handling, sound, looks, no electronic assist garbage)...dont hesitate to get it, worth every damn penny...

An all time classic! This is not a 'slicks and aero' type of game, but is great for those that enjoy the various driving styles and challenges of 60/70s racing cars from US muscle to Mini's. Huge variety of expansion options and upgrades, mods and tracks too. A vibrant online racing community/support.

The underrated GTL driving sim is old but strangely, the older it gets - the more sense it makes.
Based on a dedicated race sim engine called ISI, GTL is pure with fun physics and zero unnecessary BS of today's racing sims. Surprisingly, this ancient sim engine reminds me of the behavior of a real car, a lot. GTL is from the golden age of racing sims that started with Sports Car GT and ended with DiRT Rally 2.0 with the likes of GTR2, RBR, AC, RR, BeamNG and various fun Coddie F1 games in-between. IMHO the genre started to go downhill since 2020, losing the right direction. It bogged too much into gatekeeping, snobbery, noise and cashgrab - while forgetting about the core: providing great pure driving experience from the very start. As such, GTL is not as detailed as some of later titles like AC - but it works fine and it can completely give the feel of ancient GT racing.
As if you start from Steam it may mess it up, it is best to set GTLConfig.exe (setup) and GTL.exe (game start) to Windows 7 or XP SE3 compatibility mode, set them to run as admin and start the files directly via desktop links or file manager. The setup file may reset resolution/FPS randomly and you may have to save a couple of times before it gets stable parameters that start the game normally. Well, old cars are grumpy when starting. But after you get it work you can get a non-enshittified, pure, accessible driving experience. No less, no more.
Oh, and it runs on a potato just fine. These had to function on low-spec machines back in the days. Also has nice communicative FFB. Don't be surprised if in this 2005 game's AI drivers are several times more intelligent than real life dumbfcuks on iRacing servers or present day racing sim AIs ramming you mindlessly. Here they react to you and the others, make realistic mistakes and after getting to the speed (learning the tracks and getting used to the physics) you can race wheel-to-wheel with them with no problem. Well, unless you are an online bumper car idiot.

i can play this gt legends in linux mint via proton GE 10 , remember to create TG2001.DYN file to unlock all the car and track in Gt Legends folders. Cheers and drive safely ;)

Based on the stunning ISI engine (rFactor 1, GTR1 & 2, Automobilista 1,...) it's a must have if you really love simulation at its peak.
Remember: it's not polished graphics (AMS2, ACC,...) but what you get as an experience that brings you to full adrenaline.

pretty freakin awesome, but 2 tips of advice:
I: use compatibility mode with win. xp sp3. i dont actually remember why i did this but all i know is that it helps make the magic work so yeah
II: type the following string (or whatever works for you):
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GT Legends\GTL.exe" %command%
into the launch options page for the game. this allows it to keep track of playtime. otherwise, you end up with 3 hours of counted playtime, despite playing for at least 70+ hours.

Лучший автосимулятор гоночных машин 60-70х. Спустя 19 лет аналогов этой игре нет, если вообще когда нибудь будет. Я в нее играл лет 10 назад последний раз и сейчас возможности поиграть увы не имеется, поскольку руля уже давно нет, а он тут обязателен. Это, пожалуй, главный минус, хотя и надо учитывать, что это симулятор, а не аркадная хрень по типу need for speed, the crew и прочих леталок-стрелялок, коих наплодилось очень много за последние годы. Однако, вспомнив, приятное времяпровождение за этой игрой много лет назад, считаю просто грехом не поставить ей положительный отзыв.

GT Legends is an ancient game from 2005. It's a whopping 19 years old at the time of this review. The game hasn't been modernised or updated to run smoothly on modern gaming PCs. Despite this lack of modernisation, it carries a pretty high price tag for such an ancient game. This seems to have been put on Steam as a nostalgia gouge, or just a cash grab to try profit from broken abandonware.
A once-great simulationist track racing game, it's now obsolete and broken, superseded by games like Assetto Corsa and Project CARS.
The game never really caught on with the millions of gamers on Steam, with a very low peak player count close to launch, and then just a handful of players launching this game every couple of days. This is undoubtedly caused by factors such as those raised in this review. It's always helpful with buying decisions to consider how popular and successful the product is, and unfortunately while this did accumulate a few participation trophy reviews, overall, people just aren't using it.
Unethically, the developers have left this on the Steam store in an unplayable and broken state. It's the responsibility of the developer to maintain their product, ensure it runs on all modern PCs, or if they determine there's defects and the game doesn't work, they should remove it from sale instead of misleadingly trying to scam gamers into buying knowingly defective products.
This is harmful to Steam and to gamers, not just because it's a direct and intentional attempt to scam people, but because it takes a share of the marketing space and visibility away from other games. It's polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuine games and for genuine indie developers who put months or years into making proper games find an audience.
So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam?
The developer is deliberately and unethically trying to scam gamers into paying them the cash grab price of $8 USD for a game they know is broken. Don't give it to them.
Always enjoyed vintage racing, the model types, the sounds. Maybe a little dated now but still a good time.
Not user-friendly interface and control is such that it is easier to drive a car in life than here. But maybe you just have to get used to it, but I was repulsed by it.
Antigamente tinham mais circuitos. Limitaram muito o jogo na Steam.
Heel knappe GT racer met erg coole classics zoals de Mustang GT en de Shelby Cobra, de AC Cobra, GT40, Cortina, Falcon, Mercedes, BMW, Mini, Fiat Abarth enz.... Schademodel is ok voor dien tijd. Graphics zijn over het algemeen zeker niet slecht. Maar het geluid is erg goed.
Wel jammer dat je naar de steam guides moet gaan zodat de speelduur wordt getoond in Steam.
Screenshots en Steam Overlay werkt helaas niet bij mij.
Legendary sim with legendary retro vehicles. I doubt you'll find most of included cars in modern sim titles. If you dont own this game than grab it because its a steal for the price especially on sale and you never know how much it will be on steam store.

Since I couldn't play Assetto Corsa on my potato laptop, I decided to buy this game when it's on sale. And boy oh boy, this game is really good. The physics are great, the handling is great, car collection is pretty decent (I wasn't expecting this game has to be on the same level as Gran Turismo or Forza) and despite being a racing sim, this game is friendly for the beginners too. Sure this game is pretty much outdated if you compare this to the other sim like Assetto Corse, Automobilista, etc. But for the price of potato chips, this game is a must get.

Its SimBin at its best. Great historic racing sims. But remember it is an old sim and the graphics and FFB reflect this. Still worth checking out imo especially when you can pick it up for a couple of quid in a Steam sale.

Jogo de corrida raiz, bem dificil controlar o carro, bem próximo do q seria controlar um carro antigo. jogo top. Infelizmente sem muito suporte para controles, multiplayer ou atualizaçoes.

Jogo já demasiado datado, mas que continua divertido! No entanto para a altura em que saiu não havia nada parecido em termos de carros de competição clássicos.
Sinceramente, em 2022 e com uma máquina que o permita não recomendo este título, porque existem opções mais modernas e graficamente muito mais evoluídas, que além doutras categorias contêm opções de competições com automóveis clássicos. No entanto para quem quer um título focado estritamente nos GT's e turismos de antigamente ou que tenha um PC com especificações mais baixas, ainda recomendo vivamente 😉
Un juego... no no, otra vez. UN SIMULADOR, que no le pide nada a los juegos actuales (es que éste si es sim, no como los F1 o WRC, esos son arcades), para ser del 2005 es muy bueno, la IA en dificultad Semi Pro es desafiante (para mi) en donde pocos simuladores llegan a tener una IA competente y decente, no tendrá la calidad visual ni la cantidad de coches como para competir con un Projet Cars, pero si le da batalla.
Vi que hace no mucho corrigieron algunos bugs, no se cuales pero si puedo notar que ahora ya me reconoce cuantas horas lo he jugado, antes del 2022 eso no era posible, así que no se cuanto tiempo lo jugué, y no registraba nada, y también noté que la información del relojito LCD ahora si muestra la información correctamente, porque antes se quedaba bugeado.
Es un verdadero placer jugar esta joyita, aun tengo la caja con el manual y los CD's originales de cuando lo compre hace muchos ayeres, y en el 2017 lo volví a comprar aquí en Steam, por que aun sin descuento vale cada centavo, y es que a precio completo está regalado, si te gustan los coches y las carreras este juego de la old school no puede faltar en tu colección. y pues los niños consoleros no sabrán apreciar esta obra maestra.

- Too much same car models with different liveries, making most of the car lineup are just reskins
- Save file glitch. When you made a progress and then transfers it to other computer to continue, you're going to have problems. Your race stats about which races you've won are still there, but you lost all money and cars you earned (basically, 0 credits and you only had Mini Cooper and Lotus Cortina)
No joke, I bought this game several years ago when I was in the 6th grade at some sort of book fair deal at my school. Most of the video games they had were educational or puzzle games, but they had GT Legends for some reason. I seen it and immediately knew I had to have it.
This game is fricken awesome. A nice variety of classic race cars and tracks. The AI and physics still hold up well to this day. This game can be a little tricky to get running on modern hardware, though.
10/10 -would buy video games at school again.

Graficamente se quedo muuuuuy atras, pero los autos representados en el valen mucho la pena, una epoca fantastica del automovilismo, muy divertido!!
Eski bir oyun, kendi zamanının şartlarına göre yapılmış. Bence yine de zayıf kalmışlar, simülasyon dahi olsa bu araçlar zayıf kalıyor fren, motor gücü ve yol tutuşu konusunda. Oyunun çıktığı dönemde araçlar gerçekte öyle olabilir, ama bugün bu araçlar ilkel kalıyor. Oyunun vereceği keyfi kırpıyor. Araçlar biraz daha iyileştirilmiş olmalıydı.
Araçların yol tutuşu çok zayıf, yağmurlu havada araba kullanmak gibi. Fren güçleri zayıf, güvenip te virajlara sıkı ve kısa bir frenlemeyle girilemiyor. Motor gücü çok düşük, çabuk boğuluyor. Ama motor sesleri çok güzel, iyi yapılmış.

Too bad I discovered this game so late.
As a real trackday driver and motorsport fan, I think that GT Legends is still one of the best sims out there, pairing with many modern racing sims in many aspects.
Starting from its career mode, which is an example of variety and could serve as a good example of how to introduce a "career mode" in racing sims (even when most race simmers are not used or just don't like to play campaigns), I enjoyed every single race in this mode. You'll start driving a little Mini Cooper in small tracks with only few laps to complete, and you'll progess up to the most powerful cars at Spa or Monza. Great championship feelings and you can event try to win the official GT classic -real life- titles.
Talking about cars, it has one of best carlists that I have seen in any racing game, truly showing its title "Legends". Yes, all of them are true Legends, the Lotus Cortina, Alfa GTA, Ford GT40, Porsche 911 RSR, Shelby Cobra, Ford Mustang,... I absolutely love every car in this game, and if you like cars and motorsport history, you will do aswell. You only need to disable all possible HUD, go with the cockpit view and the result is pure great fun on every track.
On the tracklist side, apart from the classic and obligate inclusions (Spa, Nürburgring, Monza, Imola...) it has some fresh tracks like Anderstorp, Mondello, Zolder and all their short versions which is great for racing with the less powerful cars.
These two points (vanilla version car and tracklist) are only the beginning, so if you look at the community mods there is absolutely everything you can ask for, from classic M3's to the magnificient Nordschelife. It really means something that this 15 years old game still receives content from time to time from the community.
Also there are a ton of mods that you can download from racedepartment or altbierbude.de (best GTL community) that improves the sounds, visuals of cars/tracks, UI, and more.
Let's move to the setup and configuration possibilities, which is something crucial in any racing game/sim. You'll feel at home from the very first moment you go into the config menus. From the possibility to use the TrackIR (something I really loved for a title of its age), to the easy way to map every single button and axis from any controller. I have to say I ended up using my old laptop with and Xbox One Controller attached to play this game (as a mobile device/portable console) and it's absolutely amazing to run a sim this way. It feels more or less like a Forza Motorsport game (as example) without assists, from what I can experience.
About these in-track feelings, as said it rivalizes with any modern sim, from the grip of the tyres on the track, to the weight, balance, the type of car,... everything results in a pretty realistic and fun experience. It's really easy to get comfortable with the driving in a few laps and start to set a competitive pace.
Add the magnificent "classic" UI - with legendary colours on it-, great menus music, full day-night cycle, bargain price when on sale, and you'll have an awesome racing game that can keep you hooked to the screen for many hours.
As drawbacks, I have to point out that the visuals are really outdated nowadays, even when maxed out at 1440p and with high quality tracks and visual mods applied. That's pretty useful to run the game in ancient PCs, but if you want to run GT Legends in your top tier gaming rig, it really shows its age and it's not that great for viewing the replays, take screenshots, or this kind of stuff. Also, unfortunately the AI is challenging on qualyfing and race pace but they are not good on defend or attack manouvers, and sometimes is pretty bad in certain points or corners so you can easily take profit of their mistakes and it becomes easy to win even on max difficulty setting.
But if you can forget about this and focus on the track sensations, it is still totally recommendable.

Yo ver guias que no corrige errores en el simulador GT Legends y yo uso actualmente netbook
con bateria pero no es necesario eliminar y editar los archivos originales segun el gestor
automatico steam valve y ellos no son responsables por errores del simulador.

el simulador. El soporte steam valve no se responsabilisa por ediciones agregar archivos, pero si es
posible agregar circuitos pero jugar con los autos originales.

This is by far my favorite sim racing title of all time.
It has amazing physics, great amount of cool cars and tracks and challenging AI. You can run a career mode here, the so called Cup Challenge" which helps you unlock the cars and the tracks, if you want to walkthrough the game. But if you just want to have fun withouth unlocking anything there are few steps you must do to unlock the whole content, just ask Google how to do it.
So far the game has hundreds of car and track mods and if we put all of this pluses together - this is the reason why GT Legends is still alive, 16 years after it's release.
If you want to play online with many people just search for Altbierbude and SimRacing org uk.
Definetely the game has a lot to offer even today and it's totally worth buying it.

A nice blast from the past. Although don't be fooled by the number of cars you can own. There's only a handful of makes and models but with multiple liveries, so they're still the same cars. There's also only something like 6 or 8 tracks in total but they all run multiple configurations. If you're familiar with the GT series well then you know what to expect. For those that don't there's a nice career mode that unlocks new cars as well as earning money from championships to buy new cars. You can race career mode (or any mode for that matter) through 6 difficulty levels ranging from "ridiculously easy" to "you better know what you're doing" (not the actual names). Although to be honest, novice, rookie, amateur are ridiculously easy and semi-pro is pretty easy too. It's the last two levels where the real challenge is.
The graphics and physics are clearly dated although the graphics still hold up somewhat. but for less than $10 this game is worth it. It's still a fun racing game, just realize that it's NOT an attempt at an actual racing sim.

Played around with the game for a couple of hours. Despite being 15 years old, it plays well and looks pretty nice. Glad I found this one.

Works great on an xbox one controller with windows10. Add some Reshade to it to spice it up if you don't like the default visuals and it still looks great and run on a toaster by today's standards. GT Legend simulates pretty well despite it's age without being too intimidating. The menus are simple and intuitive and these vintage cars are a joy to drive.
A few days after writing this, I tried launching the game with my Steam Link, a screen pops up saying it installed something (without conscent) and a rebooting is required. I've never been able to boot up after this, not even using the safe mode from an USB loader after hours of frustration.

Grossartiges Spiel. Leider hat dieser Titel damals meiner Meinung nach nie die Aufmerksamkeit bekommen die er verdient hätte. Klar GT Legends ist schon nen paar Tage alt und kann grafisch vielleicht nicht mehr mit heutigen Games mithalten allerdings sieht es trotz dem Alter immer noch sehr gut aus. Zahlreiche schön detaillierte Fahrzeuge mitsamt schicker Innenansicht laden wirklich dazu ein Bestzeiten zu fahren. Fahrverhalten ist durchaus glaubhaft. Wer auf Rennsimulationen steht sollte dem Game wirklich eine Chance geben......
Dies ist zwar eine altes Spiel, doch von der Fahrphysik usw können sich einige andere Spiele Hersteller eine scheibe abschneiden. Es werden heutzutage Spiele auf dem Markt gebracht die nicht mal annähernd einer SIM nahe kommen aber als SIM betitelt werden. GT - Legends ist und bleibt ein Top Game (SIM) auch heute.
