I have so many thoughts about this game.

Most of them, almost all of them, are good; for example, the scenery was gorgeous. Regardless of which world I was in, whether it was springtime in one world or hellfire thunderstorms in another, I was constantly looking around and just soaking in the view. I thought I was going to be really turned off by all of the religious visuals, but it's all viewed through the lens of a questionable priest so it's actually pretty rad. The grotesque things were actually really gross, and the brothel level was particularly so (which was perfect). Visually, this game was stunning. Emotionally, it threw some punches, and I'm here for it.

But then there's the story. I'm not going into too much detail to avoid spoilers, but that was not the ending I expected -- and to be honest, I'm not sure what ending I expected. In the cemetery, there were a couple of gravestones that indicated that the story was based on real people and real events. Since we're in Romania and dealing with orphans and the church, I was prepared for Sad Ending About How Horrible People Are. But then it starts to lean into David being...the anti-antiChrist? Like, he's not the proper Christ, nor the Second Coming, but he's also probably(?) not the devil. He's Special, regardless. Okay, so we're going with the Golden Child ending, cool. BUT THEN. Out of nowhere, we get our Good and Bad endings, which have the audacity to question themselves. Like. How should I feel about the last 10 hours I've spent with this game?

I did enjoy this game. I would definitely recommend it, even to people who might be all "ugh, Jesus stuff" like I was at first. But this game reinforces, to me, why I don't enjoy those unreliable-narrator thrillers everybody else seems to be into. Like, obviously don't spoon feed me the context and narrative, but also don't leave me with so many questions that I'm left confused (and maybe also slightly grumpy because harrumph).

Şaka bir yana genel hikaye ve hikaye işleyişini beğendim. Ancak korku oyunu değil hatta gerilim oyunu bile değil bence.
Sadece ortada bir hikaye var ve o hikayeyi bizim bazı şeylerle etkileşime geçerek veya kullanarak hikayeyi ilerletmemiz istenmiş.
Grafik ve atmosfer olarak da çok üst düzey olmasa da iyi olduğunu söyleyebilirim.
Hikaye ise ilginç bir hikaye ve açıkçası sıkıcı değil. Sürükleyici şekilde oyun sizi oynatıyor.
Ortalama da sanırım 4-5 saatte de bitiyor.

İndirimlerde eğer birkaç dolara düşüyorsa alınıp denenebilir ancak bir daha 3 tlye düşmeyecek olması hem ironik hemde üzücü..

Цікава коротенька бродилка, з дуже гарним візуалом та атмосферою. Сюжет присутній, але як на мене трішки скомканий і не розкритий до кінця. Геймплейно це прямий "нащадок" Амнезії, навіть фізика взаємодії з предметами схожа, хоча очеивдно скромніша.
Також приєно для ока, те що події гри проходять в селі десь в Румунії, і це дуже знайомий східно європейський сільський вайб.
Але одразу поперджу на всякий випадок, у грі основа сюжету це смерть дитини і для когось це може викликати не приємні відчуття. Плюс тут досить багато релігї(це основна тема).

Szybka historia z bardzo prostymi zagadkami oraz liniową ścieżką, przez którą jesteśmy prowadzeni. Sam scenariusz jest napisany dość chaotycznie, pojawiają się tu fragmenty historii, które nawet po ukończeniu całości sprawiają wrażenie nieuporządkowanych. Niemniej jednak muszę powiedzieć, że grało mi się całkiem dobrze. W trakcie rozgrywki nie napotkałem ani jednego buga. Muzyka kościelna bardzo dobrze podkręca klimat rozgrywki, co jest istotne, biorąc pod uwagę osadzenie całej gry. Graficznie jest w porządku, nie można się do niczego przyczepić, jeśli weźmiemy pod uwagę rok wydania. Myślę, że warto spróbować, jeśli ktoś lubi krótkie, ala-horrorowe gry logiczne (pełnoprawnym horrorem bym tego nie nazwał, bardziej gra przygodowa z elementami horroru).

I played this game with my wife, we could not stop from playing it in one go. It's a great game, intriguing - leaves you wanting to unravel the mystery of the story. It has fun easter(n) eggs - [spoiler] we've read all the crosses in the cemetery (real life location Cimitirul Vesel) [/spoiler] and were excited to find pieces of Romanian lore and texts in it. Visually it's beautiful, amazing scenery which creates a beautiful atmosphere - both the dark reality and David's wonder land. It has creepy moments -[spoiler] like that possessed doll and Aleksandra popping behind you sneakily during a phone call [/spoiler]. It has good mechanics - we have encountered a few issues, but nothing a reload did not fix, the character and camera movement are fluid and look natural and very cinematic.

I hope they make more games like this, I'd love to know that it reaches more players because it's an underrated gem.

FPP/walking Sim donde seguiremos a un sacerdote de moral cuestionable en un periplo terrorífico que incluye satanismo, herejía, exorcismos, niños muertos, ritos diabólicos y profanación de todo tipo de iconos religiosos.
El juego podría considerarse de terror, pero quizá porque soy “Ateo gracias a Dios” lo encontré mucho mas liviano que otros exponentes del genero. En gran medida quizá se deba a su apartado artístico y visual que es mucho mas colorido y amigable que otros exponentes del genero. No hay pasillos oscuros, algo persiguiéndote, Jumpscares, tensión ni nada por el estilo. Si sos muy religioso podes sentirte perturbado u ofendido por las constantes referencias diabólicas o profanaciones a símbolos religiosos, o si lo ve tu Tía que canta en el coro de la iglesia, o tu abuela que duerme con la estampita de San Benito junto al rosario en la mesita de luz puede llegar a traerte problemas también; de lo contrario, es interesante por su temática, que se sale un poco de la norma tan trillada de sustos baratos, música tétrica y sobresaltos constantes… acá la Teología es el centro y se siente fresco.

This game has a lot of potential that I just don't think it reaches. It's a bit all over the place, but a lot of its visuals and themes are quite compelling. This is coming from someone who loves issues of religion and the imagery that comes with it. It falls short with its bad voice acting and messy story (which I don't hate, I just think it needed a bit more work to make it more cohesive). I'd say try if if you're interested, just don't pay full price. It's gorgeous, don't get me wrong, but I would wait to grab it until it's on sale for a couple of dollars.

Гра точно не для всіх, дуже незвичний, можливо дивний сетінг, ніколи в таке не грала раніше.
Але гра залишила дуже приємне враження, не дивлячись на те що там відбувалось. Цікавий досвід в ролі священника.
Візуально дуже гарна, грається дуже легко, вона не душить годинним пошуком предметів для проходження по сюжету.
Сподобалось що тут дуже багато всього різного, різні локації, будівлі, нічого не повторюється, через що в це грати ще цікавіше. Із незначних мінусів трошки кривий переклад українською, можливо робили "машинно" не корегуючи. Але це не страшно.
Особисто я порекомендувала би цю гру для одного проходження, другий раз не знаю що має статись щоб захотіти повторити цей досвід :)

Overall not a bad little idie game, kind of a walking sim with puzzles. The theme is a psychological religious horror, with elements of sexuality, possetion, abuse suicide and death. There are two basic endings. A goodish one, and the badish one. I went through both and liked them.

Things I liked otherwise: the graphics and music aren't bad. The buildings, props and whatnots looked good. Bearing in mind this looks to be a tiny studio. Plot and story were good as well.

The Meh. The voice acting was not stellar. Someone else here mentioned it was AI. Since this looks to be such a small indie studio, I'll give it a passing grade. Otherwise some of the plot was a bit confusing, and could be tidied up a bit. Particularly the relationshiip between the priest and Alexandra was a bit odd and could use some fleshing out. Also, the British Catholic priest, immersed in a Romanian setting was a bit ... odd. That could have been explained a bit better. So the story comes across as a bit jumbled. Some of the Icon puzzles are not that intuitive either. Graveyard, I'm looking at you.

Overall though, I enjoyed it.

Необычный "симулятор ходьбы", в котором самые сильное напряжение вызывает не карикатурная мистика с реками крови, внутренними органами и говорящими марионетками, а приземлённая сцена похорон, давящая на более глубинное чувство - горе утраты.

Хотя графика в игре довольно простая, у неё есть свой стиль, противопоставляющий убранства западной и восточной европы, а детализация этих убранств, в особенности церковной атрибутики, поражает и вызывает уважение.

I just finished Gray Dawn and i still feel completely immersed in its atmosphere. It's hard to define this game with a single genre. It's a psychological adventure, a spiritual journey, a mental thriller, and a gothic work of art waiting to be discovered.

The first thing that stands out is the art direction: incredibly detailed environments, vivid colors, religious symbolism everywhere, and a decadent beauty that feels reminiscent of Victorian paintings. Every room seems to tell a story, every corner is rich with meaning. It feels like walking through a dream—or a sacred nightmare.

The soundtrack is one of the best i’ve ever heard in an indie game. Liturgical choirs, whispers, distant bells... it all creates a constant sense of tension and wonder. The voice acting for the protagonist is also well done, really conveying his inner torment.

The gameplay alternates between free exploration and fairly intuitive puzzles, which are always well integrated into the narrative. It never feels like you’re solving things just to kill time—every interaction reveals more about the priest’s past or the mysterious disappearance of the boy. Some mechanics tied to spirituality (like visions) add variety and intensity.

The heart of the game is its story. It openly addresses themes of faith, sin, redemption, and the eternal struggle between light and darkness. You dive into the troubled past of a priest accused of murder, surrounded by distorted memories, paranormal experiences, and heavy religious symbolism. I really appreciated the developers courage in handling such delicate themes with respect, but without sugarcoating anything.

The adventure lasts about 3 to 4 hours, depending on how much time you spend exploring. I personally played it in one sitting. There’s some replay value thanks to collectibles (sacred images to find) and a few narrative choices that can affect the ending.

If you're looking for action or complex mechanics, this isn’t the game for you. But if you enjoy narrative-driven, atmospheric, and meaningful games, this is a hidden gem you won’t easily forget.

This game is visually stunning, featuring an immense amount of detail in its environments. The main timeline is set in 1920s England, but players are also transported to Eastern Europe, specifically Romania. Despite the different locations, I find both settings visually appealing.

The religious themes may be too prominent for some players, but as someone unfamiliar with the priesthood, I found it interesting and enlightening regarding what it entails. Overall, I believe this game is quite underrated. If any of these elements pique your interest, I would definitely recommend playing the game.

Gray Dawn is a pretty good horror game. It is essentially a descent into madness that heavily leans into religion as an avenue of coping with the events that transpired, although I suppose that is open for interpretation. The puzzles are all pretty easy, and like most games of a similar genre, exploring the area will progress you through the game. There aren't any jump scares either, its definitely more of a slower psychological type of horror game. The achievements are all pretty easy to get, although some can be missed by progressing to the next area too soon. There are two endings that will require two play throughs to get 100% achievements. This game has been discounted to a dollar before so at that price or around there it is worth a play.

Обыкновенная бродилка с легкими квестами по поиску предметов в религиозном антураже. Никаких скримеров или монстров не будет; из страшного — искажения экрана, такой Layers of Fear на минималках.

Сюжет про мальчика не зацепил совсем. Так и не поняла, какие эмоции должна была бы испытать, по мнению разработчиков, ведь нет смысла сострадать герою, который уверен, что, спасая детские души и отправляя их к Богу, делает отличное дело и в целом считает, что смерть — это не конец: у них там вечный рай со своим чаем и игрушками.

На мой взгляд, все достоинства игры связаны исключительно с отличной графикой: сочные пасторальные пейзажи, приятные, проработанные интерьеры (жутко запали в душу витражи) и хорошая работа с источниками света. Всё это неплохо сработало, чтобы создать мрачную и мистическую атмосферу.

Игра прекрасно удовлетворила мои желания: помахать кадилом, побыть священником на похоронах и сколотить гроб — большего мне уже и не надо. Хороший вариант для одного осеннего вечера.

Es mejor quedarse con las sensaciones, cierto aura de contacto con lo numinoso, los bellos escenarios y las pinceladas algo random de terror soft. Al final te queda algo, no una idea clara pero sí un conjunto de intuiciones vagas, que te hacen sentir que no has perdido del todo el tiempo. Como en tantos walking simulators, que confunden mostrarse sugerentes y misteriosos con enredar la narrativa hasta hacer la historia totalmente incomprensible.

Игра строго противопоказана людям с нестойкой психикой, впечатлительным, верующим.
В игре много трупов покалеченных детей, что может пошатнуть нервы и психику.
Но такому похуисту вроде меня, игра очень понравилась :)
Немного был удивлен как разработчик в этот мир привнес Чужих :)

[i]Gray Dawn[/i] es un juego impresionante; te puede afectar de muchas formas, lo amarás o lo odiarás, pero no te va a dejar indiferente. Eso sí, hay que hacer un par de aclaraciones antes de empezar, para que antes de comprar el juego sepas donde te estás metiendo.

Para comenzar, diré que como juego de terror es bastante flojo casi imperceptible, y que restando un par de escenas especialmente algo inquietantes, el juego destaca como [i]walking simulator[/i], en la presentación de los paisajes, y en la originalidad con la que hace uso de los limitados recursos de los que dispone.

Otra advertencia para navegantes: la principal temática del juego es religiosa, y si ese tema no te es cómodo se te va atragantar enseguida, pues es algo recurrente y predominante en la presentación del mismo, lo cual no significa que no se pueda disfrutar, yo soy atea y lo he disfrutado mucho (aunque en ocasiones pueda ser algo cargante).

Los aspectos más punteros del mismo son el apartado artístico y los escenarios por los que el juego te mueve, que combinan colores llenos de brillo e intensidad con la fantasía y la creatividad de una criatura pequeña, para hacer paisajes de una belleza inaúdita para un equipo tan pequeño ([i]Interactive Stone[/i] son 3 personas).

Por otro lado, el apartado más flojo es a mi juicio la historia, no porque sea mala, sino porque es confusa de narices y puedes haberte pasado el juego pausadamente, fijándote en los detalles, leyendo todo y aún así no entender del todo de que va la guisa, lo cual es una pena porque por todo lo demás lo he disfrutado bastante.

Estos juegos en general, se me suelen hacer cortos y este se me ha hecho largo, pero no en un mal sentido, sino que siento que he viajado por tantos escenarios que me cuesta creer que hayan sido apenas cinco horas. Se nota a la legua que los creadores han puesto mucho mimo a este juego.

En resumidas cuentas, si tienes ganas de un [i]walking simulator[/i] de lo más peculiar, tematizado en torno al cristianismo ortodoxo y encarnando a un cura, atravesando escenarios de libros infantiles y con instantes ocasionales de terror [i]soft[/i], este juego te va a gustar bastante. Aunque si yo fuera tú me esperaría a las rebajas ;P

P.D: Este juega me recuerda ligeramente a los primeros [i]Amnesia[/i], pero con menos terror y más religión.

걷기 시뮬레이션에 좀 더 가까운 공포 분위기의 그레이 던 입니다.
주인공인 아브라함 신부가 실종된 데이비드에게 속죄하는 내용으로
아브라함 스스토의 내면과 환상, 현실을 왔다갔다 하며 게임 스토리가 진행됩니다.

보통 이렇게 왔다갔다를 자주 하게 되면 게임 하는 중에 스토리가 중구난방으로 헷갈리거나
맵에 본인이 어디 있었는지 까먹기 쉬운데 컷 분배도 잘 되어있는 편이고,
아이템도 대놓고 찾기 힘들게 숨겨놓는다던지 하는 문제도 없어서 좋았습니다. (약간 잘 살펴보면 나오는 수준입니다.)
게임을 하면서 평가가 갈릴 수도 있는데 어떤 특정 아이템 하나를 먹고 그걸 삥 돌아가서 다른 맵에 집어넣는다던가 하는 식의 퍼즐 풀이를 좋아하시는 분들은 싫어하실 수 있을 것 같습니다. 대부분 하나의 스토리 부분에서 획득한 아이템은 그 곳에서 전부 소모하는 방식이기 때문에 헷갈리거나 헤매지 않고 이것저것 클릭하다보면 클리어가 됩니다.

공포 분위기보다는 스토리가 좀 더 중요한 게임이어서 그런지 공포 요소보다는 기괴함이 좀 더 많은 편입니다.
깜놀의 분배도 초반에 몇번 있을 뿐이고 무난무난하게 플레이 가능해서 좋았습니다.
추격당하는거 정말 싫어하는 사람이라 이런 공포 게임이라면 환영입니다.. ㅜ

헤메지 않는 다는 전제하에 3시간 내에는 클리어 가능하므로
정교회 색체에 속죄하면서 환각 시달리는 그런 공포 분위기 게임을 좋아하시는 분들께 추천드립니다.

이 게임에서 가장 큰 공포를 느낄 사람들은 모든 벽에 중구난방으로 도배된 각종 성화들 보고
톤 앤 매너 안 맞는다고 고통받을 인테리어 디자이너분들이 아닐까요...

This is a very unusual experience that combines the plot and visuals into a very strong emotional connection for. The gameplay does not leave such strong impressions, but I like this kind of gameplay. And although I did not have a strong core at the end. But the impressions were very strong and the ending only emphasized them. It was very impressive.

I guess it's.. nice? The game is very creative and some of the locations and effects are stunning, but tbh I had no clue what I was doing or why. Even after reaching the ending, I only kinda understood the story. Additionally, I'm not really a fan of all that religious bogus layered on top of everything, but to each their own. I guess Gray Dawn is one of those games that are just "different" compared to the vast majority. Make of that what you will.

Ein Adventure / Walking Sim mit einigen Rätseln.
Wir übernehmen die Rolle eines Priesters der anscheinend, wie es ihm eine dämonische Stimme aus dem Radio vorwirft, einen Jungen ermordet hat.
Oder hat er es nicht?
Die Story bleibt lange Zeit wirr, am Ende gibt es jedoch einen "Aha-Effekt".
Das Spiel hat eine stark präsente religiöse Thematik, was für mich als jemand, der mit Religionen so gar nichts anfangen kann, erst mal etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig ist.
Das Spiel hat einige morbide Szenen, es gibt jedoch keine klassischen Survival Horror Elemente, das Gameplay ist eher auf die Geschichte, dem finden bestimmter Gegenstände und das lösen einiger vom Schwierigkeitsgrad eher geringer Rätsel fokussiert.

Gray Dawn had tons and tons of potential, unfortunately the lack of budget and experience drags the entire thing down.

I really wanted to like Gray Dawn and I really did, at times. Excluding the character models, the game looks great, especially the architecture and the fine details, I mean, just look at the screenshots on this page. Most locations had tons of atmosphere and unique visual elements. The religious angle the story takes was occasionally thought provoking and inspiring. It was clear that whenever the developers were influenced by Romanian history and culture, you were looking at the high points of the experience.

Everything else though... Oof, were things rough. Absolutely abyssmal voice acting, including AI-generated voices thinly hidden behind audio filters. It was so bad, that I unironically think the game would benefit from having text only dialogues. The other option was to have naturalistic voice acting in Romanian, like with a minor character at the end of the game. And that leads to an entirely different problem Grey Dawn has: why is everthing such a nonsense mix of cultures, ideas, religions and places?
The "write what you know" principle exists for a reason. As I said before, whenever the game sinks into Romanian culture, it's clearly peaking. Why then, is the game set in England? Why are you playing as an Englishman, who for some reason seems to be a catholic priest? The Romanian influence exists in the game because of the main characters, a kid, who was born there. How did he even get to England? Why is a Catholic priest preparing an Eastern Orthodox service? Why does the game contain Egyptian gods, Lovecraftian tentacle monsters, possessed puppets and other completly unrelated things that stood out like a sore thumb? Who put a single jumpscare at the very beginning of the game, when the rest of the game is not even trying to be scary and aims for more of a somber tone?

Not everything was jarring, some things were "just" okay. The occasional puzzles were simple, clear and did not overstay their welcome. The music, while fitting, wasn't exactly memorable. The story felt... basic. A man tormented by guilt tries to overcome it by exploring a metaphorical representation of his memories and feelings. Also known as the story of every walking simulator ever. The game clocks at about 3-4 hours long.

I really wish the developers really leaned heavily into their culture and history. It seemed that, whenever they did, something really beautiful appeared on my screen. Instead, by trying to appeal to a broader demographic, or maybe lack of either experience or direction, Gray Dawn felt like another, generic walking simulator. It's worth experiencing, but do not expect anything special. What a shame...

Fleshed out story, decent graphics, full voice acting. Has music. Some neat visuals.

There was only like one jump scare, its mostly just atmosphere.

Only a few typos here and there. Only a few times where the area took me a minute longer due to not knowing what to do. It's super cheap on sale. Recommended.

There are two endings.

Note:: The 'display board' at the beginning of each dream area will have highlighted spots, that tells you how many icons you have to find in that area. I didn't really pay attention to this until later and I missed two icons. Just fyi.

O visual deste jogo é fabuloso! E a história te pega de surpresa. Eu não sei se os criadores deste jogo estão em outro estúdio, mas eles definitivamente deviam fazer mais jogos!

É uma pena que este jogo não tenha uma tradução em português, porque eu acho que os aspectos religiosos da igreja ortodoxa seriam bem similares a alguns dos costumes do catoliscismo brasileiro.

Direkt vorweg: Gray Dawn ist KEIN Horror, auch wenn es in dieser Kategorie gelistet ist. Lasst euch davon nicht verunsichern wenn ihr kein Horror mögt. Gray Dawn ist eher ein Drama. Im positiven, die Story rund um einen labilen Pfarrer ging zum Ende hin echt nahe und das obwohl ich Atheist bin. Optisch hat mich lange kein Spiel mehr so unentschlossen zurückgelassen. Auf der einen Seite ist das Spiel grafisch total veraltet und sieht mies aus, auf der anderen Seite (auf eine weirde Art und Weise) hat es aber recht hübsche Assets und inszeniert sich toll. Die rumänischen Gebäude und die wirklich toll gestalteten, wenn auch religiösen, Gemälde, Symbole, Orte sehen irgendwie fantastisch aus und erinnern an russische und Osteuropäische Kindheitsfilme. Gray Dawn ist dabei durchgehen harmlos und sehr melancholisch. Es gibt keine Gegner, keine Jump-Scares o.ä. einzig die Englische Sprachausgabe ist mies und klingt wie vom Zettel abgelesen. Trotzdem ein tolles, kurzes Spiel. In 3 Stunden ist man durch und das auch mit allen Erfolgen. Wer mal einen verregneten Winter Sonntag hat und nix zutun und sich auf ein kleines, kurzes und ruhiges Drama einlassen will...Wenn einen die etwas altbackene Grafik nix ausmacht, Empfehlung geht raus.
