It is a fun arcade-racing game! Cars you don't usually see in racing games, different and wild locations, crazy driving physics. You WILL have fun with it, which is the main objective! Our gaming industry needs this kind of games back.

The best way to describe this game is "aggressively average". It doesn't do (almost) anything bad, but it's also never great. The entire great is just nice. Pretty good. It works. Recommended only when it's on discount for 2€ (which seems to happen several times a year).
The one thing it does badly is some physics. Get ready to use the rewind button as your car will go flying over the tiniest bump on the road. Or sometimes come to a full halt as you lightly touch something on the side of the road. Also, I think once half of the AI cars just fell through the ground? And once at the beginning of the rice they stood still, blinking, but started driving after a few seconds. Also, your headlights are the weakest you'll ever witness in a racing game. You can't see anything ahead of you at night. The game also has an okay variety of locations, but it feels like you'll be driving the same like grass and beach maps for majority of the time.
It took me 6,5 hours to get through the career mode and that's about all I could stomach of this game. Really started to overstay its welcome. If you've already exhausted all the big names, like Forza Horizon, in this genre and are looking at the less known cheap low budget games, I would honestly recommend [b]V-Rally 4[/b] over this any day. But if you've already played that one, you can get a few hours of entertainment out of this too. But only on steep discount. Unlocking 100% achievements is very easy, altho it will require extra hours of grinding which I will absolutely not be bothered to do.
gravel is a fine racing game, its a fun game for drifting and arcade racing fun but they reuse tracks a lot even at the end of the game the final boss is a reused track so thats kinda sad but if you can get it on sale its worth it

Gravel looks & plays both better & worse than racing games released 15 years before it. The art direction varies drastically across the game, with some environments looking quite stunning and others looking like asset flips. The car controls can be both very rigid and very loose depending on vehicle, leading to some unpredictability, and the general feel of the game feels very "rinse and repeat". The whole concept of you essentially playing a part in TV coverage of racing events is a cool idea at first, but voice lines very quickly become exhausting and you find yourself turning off the dialogue altogether.
However, underneath the jank, there is some fun to be had here (especially if you catch the game on sale). It runs on a wide range of hardware, has reasonably fun multiplayer if you have a group of friends to play with and has a rather eclectic selection of cars in its roster that you are not going to see in other games. It is hard to recommend it for the career, with events being generally repetitive and boring after the first few with little real incentive to carry on playing, but there's enough here at a low price point in the glaring evidence that this game was made on a tight budget that it feels wrong to not recommend it if you're looking for another racing game for your library

Gravel ist nicht das, was ich auf einem Hi-End Rechner sehen möchte! Veraltete Grafik, erwaschene Texturen, gepaart mit schlappem Motoren Sound. 25% des Games gibt es als Appetithappen, die restlichen 75 gibt es per teurer DLC Abzocke. Stolze Preise für ein 15 Jahre altes Game, das bestenfalls einer Switch gerecht werden würde und für einen aktuellen PC eine Beleidigung ist.
OK, hat man die anfängliche Reise zu Switch Grafik überwunden, macht das Spiel echt Laune. Grafik alleine ist nicht alles. Ja, die Sprüche vom Kommentator wiederholen sich ständig,die Mucke Auswahl ist sehr dürftig und die Map im Rennen zeigt gerade mal 5 Meter vor dem Wagen! Zwar ist vieles von D*rt 4/5 gekl...t, aber im späteren Rennverlauf gibt es durchaus Innovationen, die man so noch nicht kennt.
Leider verabschiedet sich Gravel nach ca.2,5 Stunden beim laden bestimmter Strecken mit einem Fatal Error ! auf den Desktop, sodaß ich die Meisterschaft nicht abschliessen kann. 20 Teuronen für ein 15 Jahre altes Game, das nach 2 1/2 Std. die Grätsche macht, damit man keine Rückerstattung mehr beantragen kann, ist eigentlich nicht das was ich erwartet habe! So kaufe ich mit Sicherheit keine weiteren DLC´s! Schade um den guten Ansatz,- aber 20 € für die Tonne...
A completely ok arcade racing game, one of those games that's good to just put your feet up and play with a controller when you're tired without needing to think too much or deal with any deep, meaningful gameplay.
The career is just one race after another with a fair amount of repetition involved, the driving feels okay, the cars feel weighty and responsive etc. I think the AI use a catch-up mechanic to keep up, because I found I was blowing past them after the first couple of corners, but then they'd stick with me right until the end of the race, as if they gain a speed boost when they need to catch up kind of thing.
Some of the tracks are decent, others not so much, and the commentary tries to make it all sound very exciting, using words like EXTREME and BREATHTAKING every time you start a new race, when in reality your breathe will not be taken, nor will you see anything particularly extreme.
Reminded me a bit of Forza Horizon without the open world element. Completely fine for a few quid.
Ein schön sauber programmiertes Arkade-Rennspiel mit guter Kantenglättung, guter Sichtweite ohne nervige aufploppende Baumtexturen wie in manch anderen Renn-Spielen. Von der Performance, vergleichbar mit Flatout Ultimate Carnage. Wer nicht unbedingt abfliegende Autoteile oder sonstige Trümmerteile umherfliegen sehen muss und den Fokus mehr auf normale Rennen legt, für denjenigen kann ich diese Spiel sehr empfehlen.
Leaving a positive review not so much because Gravel is a great game, but more so because I want to see more games like this come out.
That is to say, following the same ethos.
Having played some of the Milestone WRC games and Sebastien Loeb Rally EVO, and not really ever liking them, I had few hopes for this.
Despite them, imo, having lackluster controls that never felt intuitive, Gravel, swinging towards the entirely arcade-y side of racing games, becomes both easier to grasp, and more fun to start toying around with. I end up wanting to try taking a turn faster, finding ways to come close to mastering each vehicle.
And mentioning them briefly, a REALLY unusual car selection, containing pickup trucks, SUVs, some weirder classics, and so on. Plus, Toyotas, if you missed them elsewhere, including a rally version of the GT86, which I also liked in EVO.
However, what the game gains in ease of access, it loses in depth.
Tracks are very wide and dead simple, controls have little nuance, and it all loses steam very quickly as a result. Almost exactly like the game I'd most compare this to, Sega Rally REVO. Again, imo, the game needed something extra in terms of design to truly make me stick with it, be it modes, features, etc.
Overall, I'm fine with the 3-4 hrs I've spent playing it, and I think I'll return to finish the game, albeit dispassionately. Still, it was very refreshing to see something that doesn't follow the Forza Horizon template to a T for an arcade racer, and tries to offer something unique.
I'd rate it a 5.5/10, maybe.
Here's to hoping Screamer becomes truly special.

Не понравилось: глупая физика входа в поворот, нереалистичные трассы, мертвый онлайн, наличие онлайн-достижений, необходимость гриндить последнюю ачивку из-за мертвого онлайна, подпрыгивание и переворачивание машин на мельчайших кочках, примитивная архитектура карьеры.
It is non-openworld off road car racing game. The graphics are decent for the price, the effect when cars run through the coastal waters and water is splashed on both sides is disappointing. Rest of the graphics are nice specially the wild tracks (Namibia and Alaska). There is a limited varierty of cars. Race types are Smash Up, Time Attack, Lap races. Lap races in Stadium are my least favourite. Races in the wild let the car to reach top speed and is aptly named Wild Rush. The Rewind feature prevents frustrations caused by last moment errors which causes loss of podium finish. Game is short and simple so there is moderate grinding.

Its 2026 and I came to tell you guys the controller bindings are fully customizable.
I dont like to use triggers to gas and brake in arcade games, so i've remapped to buttons without issues.
This game ia very fun, nice to drive in controller, has lots of licensed vehicles and a good metal soundtrack.

The level of detail when it comes to car tuning is sim level.
Handling is great for a simcade.
Absolutely an amazing game for the car guys, at the same level as Dirt 2, Dirt 3 and Grid games.
Here's what your experience is going to be:
- You start the first race
- You try to accelerate and your car doesn't move
- A prompt appears on screen that says "Press A to accelerate"
- You realize the game is mapped to those ridiculous controls that racing sims like to pretend people enjoy using
- You open the menu to change the controls to WASD, because you're a human being who enjoys having fun
- You don't see an option to remap controls
- You realize there is no option to remap controls
- You close the game and go write a pissy review about how you can't remap controls
I honestly can't recommend that you buy this in this state. Splitting steering and acceleration between hands feels horrible to me and isn't fun, but that's usually not an issue because I've genuinely never played a game that doesn't let you remap the controls. I'm sort of mystified why it isn't included as an option here. The game seems cool, it looks nice, but I'm not gonna play it if I'm not gonna enjoy it.
Very fun in VR with UEVR. Some of the sounds are not great - there is like one sound for when the car is damaged and it's not good. I hate the stadium races, episode 9 the 3rd race is particularly obnoxious. I can't see any way to get in front without bashing people, and even then it still seems impossible. I refuse to take it off the hardest opponent setting. Really dislike the mode where you have to hit the green arrows, they change colour too late. In one place you can jump over them which makes it fail - many times they are hidden by the brow of a hill. It should be easier to see them in VR as well, so I imagine it's even worse flat screen.

I personally feel this is the closest thing i can get to the old motorstorm games by Evolution Studios, while it doesnt have that over the top feel or dynamic tracks, it makes up for in grunt and grittiness. Brings back good memories

O jogo até cerca de 50% é interessante, divertido, seguindo bem a pegada arcade. Porém, depois de um tempo as pistas passam a ficar repetitivas, mapas e afins. Os modos de corridas ficam repetitivos, sem muita novidade ou sensação de progresso. Não é um game ruim, longe disso, mas se esta pensando em adquirí-lo tenha isso em mente.
No geral, da para passar um tempo jogando legal, mas chega num ponto que enjoa.
Recomendo-o pegar em alguma promoção, para ser aquele game para passar tempo.

After all these years it's still awesome! A fantastic vehicle list, great tracks, fun vehicle handling, good replays, what more can you want? DiRT 5 is not bad(in competition with) but Gravel is better than DiRT 5 in some respects. The only thing that would made this even better is more opponent options as well as a custom paint or livery shop, or configuring your competition any way you like! Get it on sale as soon as you can!
Here's hoping for Gravel 2 in the future with mixed class racing!

Dobra włoska gra od Milestone.
Model jazdy jest świetny kompromisem między arcade a symulacją z większym naciskiem na fun z gry.
Trasy są dobrze zrobione ,brakuje jedynie trybu rajdów.
Dźwięki aut są na przyzwoitym poziomie z zastrzeżenie że są za cicho nagrane ,tryb kariery jest ciekawy i fajnie się go przechodziło.
Grafika jest na dobrym poziomie najlepiej wygląda w nocy albo na trasach zimowych.
W porównaniu do Dirta 5 Gravel jest o wiele lepszy w wielu aspektach.
Moja ocena to 8/10.

Fun little arcade racer, at time of writing it's 90% off and it's more than worth it at that price.
I personally think the graphics are good and had no performance issues even at 4K, but I'm playing on modern hardware so maybe it was a bit much back in the day? Either way I think it looks nice still.
Could do with a bit more content and some more music tracks, but again for the price on sale don't think you can go wrong.
Ce jeu, c'est de la bombe. Je n'en ai jamais entendu parler et je l'ai découvert il y a peu par hasard, j'ai hésité et je ne regrette pas mon achat. Je précise que j'y ai joué au pad dans le canapé en difficulté max et surtout, un petit tour dans les options pour réduire à 0 la voix du commentateur... vous me remercierez plus tard.
Si vous cherchez des sensations, portées disparues depuis le milieu des années 90, placez vous en vue capot et soudez l'accélérateur au plancher !
Gravel fait partie de ses jeux où vous allez devoir tracer dans des environnements, qui vont du bien au complètement fou, et sur des revêtements qui ne sont pas fait pour. Anticiper et maîtriser les dérives de votre voiture pour passer en vitesse sont essentiels et gratifiants. Je comprends les évaluations qui comparent ce jeu à Sega Rally. J'y retrouve effectivement cette apparente facilité mais qui vous demandera de maîtriser les trajectoires et la physique de votre véhicule pour tracer.
Oubliez les critiques négatives des Jean-Michel Simulation qui sont perdus sans leur volant, qui trouvent l'IA trop dure (c'est la meilleure...) ... de toute façon, je citerai ma partenaire "simuler, c'est mentir".
Milestone, si vous passez par ici, le monde manque de jeu comme Gravel.
Par contre, la prochaine fois, virez moi ces réglages de voitures absolument inutiles et faites moi un mode contre la montre digne de ce nom. Par exemple, avec des temps intermédiaires, ma position au leaderboard en fin de course et surtout, ne me faites pas revenir au menu principal lorsque je clique sur "continuer" à la fin d'une course.
Pour le reste, vous avez compris, c'est du plaisir à l'état pur.
PS : il m'est arrivé une fois que la manette déconnecte. Suite à cela et pour une raison que j'ignore, elle n'était plus reconnue par le jeu. Un passage par jstest-gtk sous linux (essayez joy.cpl sous windows) et c'était réglé.

Je suis très déçu par le jeu GRAVEL sorti en 2018 sur PC et je pense qu'il n'a pas sa place dans votre catalogue.
Le jeu n'est tout simplement pas jouable avec le volant ce qui est très regrettable pour un jeu de course...
A titre de comparaison le jeu taxi2 sorti dans le début des années 2000 proposait des graphismes plus agréables, une meilleure jouabilité et de nombreux clins d'oeil au film ce qui le rendait bien plus immersif.
C'est dommage de constater que les années passent, mais que certains jeux ne s'améliorent pas avec le temps.

Gelungener Titel. Eine richtige Simulation darf man hier nicht erwarten, es spielt sich arcadelastig. Was ich für meinen Teil aber klar bevorzuge. Die Grafik ist für ein Spiel von 2018 ganz ordentlich, allerdings hatte ich das Gefühl das manche Landschaften etwas verwaschener waren. Besonders die Schneestrecken sahen sehr gut aus. Die Rennen spielen sich kurzweilig und unterhalten gut. Die deutsche Synchro ist ebenfalls gelungen, leider wiederholen sich die Sprüche viel zu häufig. Für die Kampagne habe ich mir knapp 7 Stunden zeit gelassen, diese hätte gerne etwas länger gehen dürfen/sollen.
Alles in allem hatte ich Spaß mit Gravel und kann diesen Titel Rennspielfans gerne empfehlen, welche für ein paar nette Stunden wieder mal die Reifen qualmen lassen möchten.

A hidden gem for sure. Doesn’t have the best graphics but it’s still ok. The physics aren’t the best but it’s an arcade racer and what really matters is that it’s fun to play. I’m enjoying it, actually liking it more than FH5, but FH5 is meh compared to 1-4 imo

Gravel jest to gra wyścigowa w której to ścigamy się licencjonowanymi rajdówkami. Gra nie ma zbyt wiele do zaoferowania poza tymi licencjami grafika jak na rok 2018 jest słaba lub nawet bardzo słaba, momentami niekiedy przypomina wczesne lata ery ps3 i x360. Długość gry też nie jest przesadnie duża ~10h.

This game doesn't work. I launched it several times, it just plays some unskippable logo videos and then crashes miserably. So far it's the only game in my library doing that. I should have known better being it a Milestone product, got it at a massive discount so I took my chances but it was a long shot. As of today it's broken, don't waste your money

Plays great on the steamdeck Only issue I had was i had to close the game and reopen it after installing it to get the controls to work properly besides that I was almost call this verified/ playable I say verified because you dont have to switch and protons or settings to get it to run .. like i said I had to restart the game to get the control to work because it was reading like keyboard and mouse.

I played about less than a hr to test out on steamdeck I'll be coming back Updating more later but the game plays great anyone on the steamdeck looking for info on how it plays
up i bought the dlcs and it would not let me add the dlc to the game i uninstalled the game re installed it and still nothing i check ed properties to see dlc area not showing also the game kept telling me to install files i already had but it wasn't registering in the game so i give up glad i didnt continue to try its a ok game but with out the dlc not woth it to keep idk if its because i bought them separately on different days
I can't tell which was worse, the robotic, lifeless AI or the ridiculous physics. Graphics was OK, UI and controls were not.

I had a bit of a rough start with this one because of many minor but very obvious bugs and some design decisions that I can only describe as an acquired taste. Fortunately, I quickly got over it, because the driving part was just that well done!
Between arcade and sim, Gravel is closer to arcade, but there's enough depth to keep one entertained. Each car handles differently. The variety of elevation and terrain types on each stage affect the cars differently. The physics and the driving experience are believable without being overwhelming or becoming boring. Visual feedback is also really good - I could instantly see the car struggling in some sections and speeding up like mad in others. The feeling of speed was satisfying too. Cars handled well and did what I expected them to do. That's even after turning off assists, which made cars more responsive and drifting much easier.
Honestly, my only complaint about the game is that 2 of the achievements require you to play online. While it's commendable that multiplayer still works 7 years after release, it's hard to find a buddy to play with. If you're an achievement hunter, keep that in mind.
At the time of writing, Gravel runs well in Kubuntu 24.04 with Proton Experimental (Dec.2025), and the DLC is recognised as long as you run the Windows version in Proton. Going through the game with a keyboard was smooth! I did a few races with a controller as well and had no issues.
I didn't do a longer playthrough without Steam, but Gravel also appears to be DRM-free (runs without Steam after installation), which I very much appreciate! Unfortunately, none of the DLC works in this case, but there's still plenty to enjoy in the base game.
In any case, I could recklessly drive all my favourite rally cars (and more!) in unusual and beautiful locations, and it was a ton of fun! Yay!
Habs im Sale für 2 Euro gekauft, wer damals Sega Rally mochte, greift zu. Läuft auch auf dem steam deck zwischen 40 und 60 FPS, je nach Einstellungen . Für mich wäre auch 20 Euro OK dafür gewesen.
Un Gran juego de coches que me ha sorprendido y mucho, esta muy recomendable y mas ahora que esta a 2 euros.

Gravel est un SEGA rally like, un petit jeu d'arcade dans un univers réaliste qui se termine en 10h en moyen.
Pour 1.99 euros il mérite un avis positif même si le jeu n'est vraiment bon nulle part il n'en est pas mauvais pour autant

Quasi aucun bug, techniquement le jeu est propre mais quelques freezes d'une demi seconde se fond sentir sur certaines courses
Licences des marques, toujours un plaisir de retrouver la Stratos, la Lancia ou la Delta quand on est fan de SEGA rally

Direction artistique très random rien de bien exceptionnel
Moteur physique élément existant c'est déjà ça, quelques éléments volent au passage des véhicules, qui d'ailleurs peuvent faire des tonneaux, c'est assisté sur les saut mais pas lors des collisions.
L'Attention porté au détail, très moyen ça reste assez sommaire, on voit bien quelques animaux passer au loin pour le coup c'est très réaliste il se passe pas grand chose lors des courses ^^
Le son des voitures est correcte mais le bruit de l'eau quand notre véhicule passe dedans est ridicule, il m'a même fait sourire
Le gameplay n'est ni bon ni mauvais, peut être un peu trop arcade car on manque de sensation.
le Système de progression est très simpliste, on gagne des étoiles pour débloquer des nouvelles course, c'est très linéaire.
Système de dégâts présents, même s'il reste assez léger il a au moins le mérite d'exister.
Points Négatif :
Graphisme, plutôt moyen pour un jeu de 2018 a aucun moment on arrive à le trouver beau (1440p ultra 120fps)
Honteux : Microtransaction intégrés dans la barre de progression, j'aime pas ce forcing à l'achat.
Il n'y'a décidément aucun jeu de chez milestone qui trouvera grâce à mes yeux. Ils sont tous ou mal dosés, ou lourds, ou abusé au niveau de l'IA ou un mélange de tout ça... Le fun ? ou ça ?!
Gravel is what happens when a racing game mistakes quantity for quality. There are too many cars, too many dull tracks, and somehow not a single compelling reason to master any of them. The AI is lifeless, the handling is serviceable but forgettable, and the whole thing feels like a racing game on autopilot — technically present, emotionally absent. If you're coming from the school of Sega Rally, where every corner was a lesson and every lap was a chance to get better, this will feel like detention. Gravel isn’t bad — it’s just bland, and that might be worse.

The tracks look amazing (being built in Unreal Engine, Gravel looks great even for today's standards), it features a huge selection of cars across a large variety of classes and eras, has nice arcady controls, etc etc. The soundtrack rocks, too. The only thing it doesn't do well is locking a large portion of the content behind a paywall of DLCs. Apart from that it's just plain awesome. You can race on ice, see northern lights, race on runways with aircraft around, jump dunes, see shipwrecks, race on beautiful beaches, blast through ice caves, compete in stadiums, race on official race tracks, in quarries and so much more. There are multiple game modes, from standard races, over multiplayer, time attack, weekly challenges and so on. It really offers a lot to keep you interested and coming back for a quick race every now and then. I especially like the classic cars like the Lancia Stratos and love blasting around with it. You can choose the time of day and weather conditions for each track once you've unlocked them, which is a nice plus. All in all this game is just so much fun if you don't expect a hyper-realistic sim and take it for what it is. I love it and would happily recommend it to anyone.

Quick review after I picked this up on sale yesterday. It was pretty solid racing to start. Tweaked the car and I'm unstoppable! Definitely a lot of fun.
Nice arcade off road racing game, I wish the cars would stick better to the ground or have more 'realistic' weight, as now small (random) bump/kerb can send you barrel roll crazy.
It is 2€ (or with dlc under 5€) on sale usually so worth it to pick for some arcade racing with older rally cars like ie. lancia, escort, impreza.

Very underrated, fun and grounded arcade racer that's easy to pick up and play, though I'll admit it does feel a bit mediocre at times and there's not enough options for custom races (Eliminator and Smash Up are exclusive to the career mode, and lap counter is very limited). Мне нравилась та атмосфера, которую я не встречал больше ни в одной игре гонок по внедорожью, но хотелось улучшенной графики, физики, больше трасс и машин. И вот я нашел максимально близкую игру к тому что было тогда.

+ Геймплей. Это гонки, по сути о чем тут говорить, машинки делают брр-бип, вжжж-виииу и тд. Приятно ли играть? Да. Поэтому могу сказать что геймплей не плохой.
+ Атмосфера. Как я уже сказал тут знакомое ощущение из той игры, которое я долго искал, эта игра лучше во многих аспектах, единственное что все же тут не та атмосфера, но об этом позже.

+ Дизайн. Я так полагаю создатели данной игры пытались передать многое из прошлого, отсюда и такие окраски автомобилей. Множество потрясающих раллийных наклеек из 90х, 80х и других годов. Конечно не со всеми правообладателями удалось договориться, либо нет возможности внести в эту игру ту или иную компанию.
+ Локации. Очень много красивых трасс, Unreal тут справляется великолепно. Особенно если учесть дополнительные локации из DLC, тут есть и снежные локации так и пустынные, от леса до пляжа. Просто отличное разнообразие.
+ Скриншоты. Тут есть встроенный фоторежим, это отлично, но тут странное доступное расстояние от автомобиля, далеко отвести камеру невозможно. Из-за этого нельзя сделать красивую панораму.
+ Автомобили. Очень разнообразны, стадионные авто, раллийные и тд, DLC добавляет военную технику и багги.

Alongside Milestone's complete bs of a gate mode that has the same issue of their past works (like WRC 3) where even if you hit the correct barrier, you still will get the slowdown from an incorrect one because they are so sticked together that most times it's inevitable to not hit them, which is not helped at all by the poor attempt of a handling model

This game is basically an answer to the DiRT series by Codemasters, but in a cheap carbon copy to it. Despite this, I still enjoy this game, however I only recommend it when it's on big sale.

It achieves all this, but in somewhat worse ways than those games did. I found the voiceover annoying and disabled it early on, so I can't comment too much on the last point, but the rest is covered below.
[h2]Progression[/h2]
I got 100% within a day. Rewards are tied to difficulty and assists, so I played on the hardest difficulty with no assists. However, even max rewards didn't net enough [strike]skill points[/strike] [i]show points[/i] to unlock everything by the end of the campaign. I assume the devs expected people to get the rest through multiplayer, but nobody plays online. Grinding one of the shortest events for half an hour was enough to get the remaining points.
[h2]Gameplay[/h2]
Without assists, the handling isn't all that bad. A bit unresponsive at times, maybe, but otherwise passable. Damage never seemed to have any effect during my playthrough. The AI occasionally presented a challenge but was otherwise very generic, and bosses did nothing to stand out. Unlimited rewinds and a lack of penalties made things easier still.
The real hard parts were when the developer messed up and caused unintended difficulty spikes, e.g., smash-up (gatecrasher ripoff) events being poorly laid out, and certain time attack targets being so hard that only a handful of people have beaten them, per the leaderboards. To add to this problem, not all cars are equal in this game and you'll need to use the meta cars to beat some events on the highest difficulty.
I mentioned at the start that the gameplay is like Dirt 2. By that, I mean this game mimics its event types, vehicle classes, and locations like a broken mirror. The environment artists did a good job making each location look unique, at least, and some more unique DLC content got added later, but the core gameplay is very much based on Dirt 2.
[h2]Story[/h2]
The campaign sees you go up against five bosses for the crown: Ray Krieger, the Grip King; Nate Denver, the Spee... oh, sorry, wrong game.
Gravel's story consists of five middle-aged men looking at you angrily. I don't know what the player did to deserve the looks. Rumor has it the little balls on top of their matching baseball caps touched and they forgot to say no hømo, and now they'll stay mad forever.
[h2]Bugs[/h2]
Yes, there were bugs. No game crashes, luckily, but both player and AI vehicles often interact weirdly with track geometry and with other vehicles. Expect cars to flip over and go flying pretty frequently. There are also time attacks where the race finishes, the game says you came 1st, and then the standings come up and you're not in 1st. The game has rare stutters too, probably an Unreal Engine thing.
I'm putting night events in this section too because they're so dark. Headlights do practically nothing. I doubt I'd have been able to finish these events if not for the unlimited rewinds.
Lastly, HDR was on by default. Wouldn't have been a big deal except there's no in-game toggle for it; it has to be disabled in the config file. I'm not certain the night events' darkness isn't related to this, either.
[h2]Conclusion[/h2]
It might be a knockoff of other games, but you can still get a few days of fun out of it if you can get over the bugs. I got the deluxe version for $4.80. For that price, I'd say it's worth it. Some of the DLC cars are meta cars, so I wouldn't get the base game if you can help it.
Luego de dedicarle varias horas y leer múltiples reseñas, añado mi opinión. Desde luego encontré una similitud con el lanzamiento de Project Cars (Slightly Mad Studios), por aquel 2015. La gente furiosa porque era un "simulador de derrape" en vez de carreras, me incluyo. Sin embargo, con el tiempo aprendí un poco sobre configuraciones en autos y otras en la dificultad que provee el juego. La clave esta en este apartado, modificando esos parámetros podes lograr que el auto derrape o no, el teclado no es un gatillo de mando que tiene una curva que podría simular un pedal en un auto, es un botón. Con esta salvedad prosigo con la reseña.
No es mal juego, tampoco una joya, quien lo adquiera no espere algo innovador o fenomenal. Es algo mas del montón pero creo que tiene su cariño por parte del estudio y en oferta es recomendable para unas horas (no es un Flat Out 3, a eso me refiero). Para darse una idea, parte de los escenarios planteados es como Baja: Edge of Control, incluso la dinámica, pero mucho mas elaborados y bellos. Desde luego, Rally y Rally Cross en casi todos los capítulos, enfrentamientos personales con otros competidores veteranos y contrareloj.
Los aspectos mas débiles del juego son la variedad de autos y como se comportan en la pista (mas que nada este punto), y la IA de los oponentes. Es llamativo, he notado que dependiendo del auto que elijas (no se si es azar o no pero me paso varias veces), los oponentes adoptan determinado comportamiento, mas agresivo o ser muy novatos.
Las pistas están bien diseñadas como a su vez el entorno. Desde Alaska hasta San Luis, Argentina.
Como dato, aquellos que jueguen con teclado, configuren al máximo las asistencias o ayudas de conducción ya que en carreras como Rally Cross (ni hablar con Indy Car), sufrirán no tener una curva de aceleración o frenado. Patinaran o se bloquearan las ruedas. ¿Se puede jugar sin ninguna asistencia con teclado? Si, solo en una carrera tuve que usarlas porque luego de muchos intentos me vi obligado a hacerlo. Es dificil de dominar, lo único.
