I originally bought this game to show my friends something cursed, but it turned out to be a really fun game and I finished it all by myself. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a solid VR shooter! The only issue I had was the gun—it wasn't a full model, just half-transparent

The GalGun Series is known for it´s crazy concept. A guardian angel messes up a love spell for you. You now are cursed for one day that every girl in your high school falls in love with you. You have a gun, that shoots pheromones to keep the women happy and get them off you. Since also there is a demon around there is a demon dustbuster you need to use.
That was already hillarious as a rail shooter and now in VR it´s ... i´m not gonna lie. I had extremely much fun. It´s milking otaku clichees but isn´t lewd. I laughed so much escaping from Waifus trying so hard to give me love confessions. It´s a really crazy experience in VR.
Espect 8 Stages and i think around 2 to 3 hours of gameplay.

The game uses a clean and colorful anime art style that fits the series perfectly.
The environments and characters are stylized in a way that really makes it feel like you're standing inside an anime school, surrounded by cute anime girls reacting dramatically to everything you do. The visual presentation is simple, but very effective at delivering the atmosphere the game is going for.
Because of the relatively simple graphics, the game is also extremely lightweight.
I personally played it on an RTX 2060 with 6GB of VRAM, running the game at maximum settings while also using very high SteamVR supersampling, and it still ran flawlessly. Performance is extremely stable, which is always important for a comfortable VR experience.
[h2]Story & Characters[/h2]
It's important to mention that this is not the first game in the Gal*Gun series. The other titles feature actual stories, character interactions, dialogues during gameplay, and a more traditional progression.
In this case, [i]GalGun VR[/i] is more of an experimental VR experience. It was created primarily to test whether the gameplay formula of the series could work well in virtual reality, something that would later be fully implemented in [i]GalGun 2[/i].
Because of that, the game has no real narrative. There are no dialogues, conversations, or story progression. It is purely an arcade-style experience where waves of characters appear and the player reacts to them.
That said, the characters still have plenty of personality through exaggerated reactions, expressions, and animations.
Another important detail is that the game is [b]definitely NSFW[/b] in tone. The entire premise revolves around anime girls falling in love with the player and reacting in exaggerated ways to your pheromone shots. However, despite the suggestive themes and jokes, there is nothing explicit happening between the characters.

The gameplay works very much like classic arcade rail shooters.
You stay in the same spot while enemies move toward you. In this case, instead of monsters or soldiers, it's waves of cute anime girls approaching from every direction. Your job is to aim and shoot before they get too close.
Despite the premise, the game isn't violent at all. Instead of weapons, you're shooting pheromones that overwhelm the girls with love until they faint dramatically.
The game is extremely fun to play. The mechanics are simple, but aiming and shooting in VR is incredibly satisfying. Looking around quickly, reacting to characters appearing from different directions, and landing precise shots creates a very enjoyable gameplay loop.
The stages are all distinct and interesting. Each one has different layouts and enemy patterns, which helps keep the gameplay fresh. Replaying them to improve your score or to unlock achievements never feels boring or tedious, even though you will be repeating them many times.
The game also creates a strong nostalgic feeling by recreating the classic rail shooter formula in VR, and it does so very well.
Each stage has its own ranking system, allowing you to compete against yourself while trying to reach the highest possible rank. You can also compare scores with friends, which adds another incentive to replay stages and improve your performance.

By design, this is a short game.
Most of the replay value comes from replaying stages to improve your rank, chasing better scores, and unlocking everything the game has to offer.
It works well as a quick arcade-style VR experience that you can jump back into for short sessions.

Gal*Gun VR is essentially a smaller experimental experience.
All of its stages, characters, and gameplay mechanics were later included in the sequel, [i]Gal*Gun 2[/i], which features both [b]FLAT[/b] and [b]VR[/b] modes. The sequel also adds several new mechanics, a full story, character dialogues, and many additional characters that don't exist in this game.
However, many achievements were removed in the sequel. This includes achievements related to obtaining S rank on stages and collecting photos of the characters' underwear.
Instead, new achievements were added that mostly revolve around repeating the same stages over and over again dozens and dozens of times. Completing all achievements in [i]Gal*Gun 2[/i] ends up being extremely monotonous, repetitive, and exhausting. It almost made me give up on completing the game a few times.
Meanwhile, in this game, chasing every achievement feels far more satisfying and fun.

I completed 100% of the achievements in this game.
Many of them involve mastering the gameplay and completing all stages with an S rank, which encourages you to replay levels and constantly improve your performance.
However, several achievements also require taking photos of the underwear of every character in the game. This mechanic is played for comedy and fits the absurd tone of the series, but it might be a deal breaker for players who are looking for a more Safe for Work experience.
[h2]Final Thoughts[/h2]
Gal*Gun VR is a simple game, but an extremely fun one.
It is short, but the gameplay loop is satisfying enough. The VR mechanics work surprisingly well, and the nostalgic rail shooter style translates perfectly into virtual reality.
For fans of anime and NSFW, this is definitely a must-play VR experience. Even though it was originally designed as a smaller experimental project.

すぐにクラッシュする問題はぎゃる☆がん2と同様、hostsファイルに追記する方法で回避できたが、Meta Quest 3Sのコントローラが即反応しなくなりプレイできない問題に遭遇。Steam LinkではなくQuest Linkで接続し、SteamVRを起動せずに直接ぎゃる☆がんVRを起動するとちゃんとQuestのコントローラでプレイできた。

Через час понял — это не игра, а симулятор «как почувствовать себя Гарем-кун без бюджета на аниме».
Оптимизация неплохая, но кого это волнует, когда у тебя в упор бежит десяток «вайфу» с признаниями?
Сюжет? Его заменяют… достижения за коллекцию трусиков. 👀
Итог: VR действительно лучше реальности, но вот объяснить друзьям, во что я играю — хуже ада.

I love rail shooters, and found out with VR that I really love rail shooters in VR. So I had to give this game a shot, and it was just as goofy and pervy as the first one I played. If you dont mind that, its a fun rail shooter.

Ещё каждой девочке и учительнице можно позвонить и позвать в класс или к себе домой они говорят вам пару фраз и это приятно.. я купил игру за 120 рублей, это пачка чипсов но не одна пачка чипсов не даст мне любви как эта игра.. я однозначно вернусь в неё. Bought this game a year or so back and it didnt work with my Oculus Rift S. The game would crash within the first minute of playing no matter what I do. Fast forward to today, Ive got a Meta Quest 3 and a newer computer, but the game still crashes after a minute of playtime. This game release in 2017 and the devs still havent fixed it. It would be a good idea to avoid all games these clowns make since they simply dont care.
This game is actually good for a VR game. It is short, but most of the replay value comes from the achievements on steam.

If you want an arcade-like Gal*Gun experience with proper VR controls, get this on sale. Otherwise, get Gal*Gun 2 and be ready to tweak it for a working smooth experience that contains story and much more interactions.
Should mention that this version has pretty long loading times and Oculus native compatability if using an Oculus link (wired or wireless). If you don't want to play through Meta compatibilty - resort to using LibOVRRT from github.

Ich habe festgestellt, dass Gal*Gun nur sowas wie eine EA zu Gal*Gun2 ist. Dort gibt es viel mehr Content und ist über einen VR-DLC auch in VR spielbar.
Genau wie im Original, sind wir ein junger Mann, der mit seinem Smartphone auf die Jagd nach Schlüppibildern ist. Im Entwicklertext steht, dass wir der beliebteste Kerl am Campus sind. Naja, Stalker sehen die Welt wohl anders.

Wir sind mit einem kleinen Staubsauger unserem Telefon und einem durchsichtigen Waffengriff auf dem Schulgelände eines Mädcheninternats (?) unterwegs. Warum wir einen Waffengriff halten, um (Achtung!) Pheromone zu verschießen, will mir nicht so ganz in den Sinn. Da haben die Entwickler wohl keine Idee gehabt, wie so etwas umzusetzen ist.
Nun gut, mit der rechten Hand, dem Pistolengriff, verschießen wir also unser Pheromon. Damit müssen wir die Horden von jungen Mädchen und Frauen aufhalten, die auf uns zurennen. Treffen wir sie, bleiben sie von unserem Gestank betört stehen und geben auf bzw. lösen sich auf.
Mit der anderen Hand benutzen wir den Dämonenstaubsauger, damit saugen wir kleine niedliche Dämonen ein, die auf einigen der Mädchen sitzen. Das ist im Prinzip das ganze Spiel. Achso, mit dem Telefon können wir die Zeit verlangsamen und uns in Position für tolle Unterwäschebilder bringen. Genau.

Neben dem Hauptspiel, können wir alle NPCs, also die Mädchen zu Hause oder im Klassenzimmer besuchen. Interessanter weise wohnen scheinbar alle im selben Zimmer, sogar die Lehrerinnen. Bei den privaten Treffen, steht die Ausgesuchte vor uns und das war es im Prinzip. Wir können zwar mit unserem Gebläse und den Pheromonen etwas rumspielen, aber mehr Interaktionen bietet das Treffen nicht. Kann man gut finden oder auch nicht. Im Gegensatz zum Hauptspiel indem nur Japanisch gesprochen wird, reden die Mädchen hier wenigstens mit englischem Untertitel, so dass wir etwas über sie erfahren können.

I realized that Gal*Gun is like an EA to Gal*Gun2. It has a lot more content and can also be played in VR via VR DLC. Review later.
Just like in the original, we are a young man hunting for hatchling pictures with his smartphone. The developer text says that we are the most popular guy on campus. Well, stalkers probably see the world differently.
We're out and about on the school grounds of a girls' boarding school (?) with a small vacuum cleaner, our phone and a transparent weapon handle. Why we're holding a weapon handle to shoot pheromones (watch out!) is not quite clear to me. The developers must have had no idea how to implement something like this.
Well, with the right hand, the pistol grip, we shoot our pheromone. We have to use it to stop the hordes of young girls and women running towards us. If we hit them, they stop, bewitched by our stench, and give up or disperse.
With the other hand, we use the demon vacuum cleaner to suck in cute little demons that are sitting on some of the girls. That's basically the whole game. Oh, and we can use the phone to slow down time and get into position for great underwear pictures. Exactly.
In addition to the main game, we can visit all the NPCs, i.e. the girls at home or in the classroom. Interestingly, they all seem to live in the same room, even the teachers. At the private meetings, the chosen one stands in front of us and that's basically it. We can play around with our blower and the pheromones, but the meeting doesn't offer any more interaction. You can either like it or not. In contrast to the main game where only Japanese is spoken, the girls here at least speak with English subtitles so that we can learn something about them.
Gal*Gun VR is a fun anime-style wave shooter that can be a little off-putting for European eyes. Anyone familiar with the shooter series in flat is sure to have fun here.

Don't get me wrong, I like the Gal*Gun series, and VR is even more amazing.
However, this is more like a free mode, arcade, sandbox, however, you want to call it. There is NO story, no love, no nothing. It's just a plain and simple shooting game that gets fast and boring and the VR quality is not that good to say it's worth it.
And for anyone saying, but it's Gal*Gun in VR! -> please check the other games on Steam to see why this game is not worth it. No wonder fans did not create a "skin" patch

I am a 45 yo father, probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single father to my Son, who is 14 now. My son got this game from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. So I decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. I loaded into the game, picked my character and world and started playing but I was stuck on what you where supposed to do. I asked my Son for help and he hosted a game for me to join. I loved it as it was the best time I had spent with my Son since my wife had died. This game has ever since brought me and my son closer again and now we actually spend time together outside the house together as well. This game reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brought both me and my Son many happy memories.

lol jk just get gal gun 2 instead. gal gun vr doesn't have a story to it but its still good tho for just an aim trainer with anime girls and achievements. gal gun vr is just more of a prototype of gal gun 2 so get it if you want an actual story and more features!
This game will not run in VR. It kicks me out in about 10 seconds. I have no idea why its doing that. I have played several games from Steam, but this is the only one that will not run.
과연 명불허전, 이게 걸건이었군요. 좋았습니다. 사방에서 달려들어 생각했던 것보다 꽤 정신없었지만 재밌게 즐겼습니다. 다만 스토리가 없이 그저 스테이지 여덟 개뿐이라 플레이시간이 짧은 게 흠이네요. 휴대폰 들고 수그려앉아 위로 치켜들었을 때는 뉴스에 가끔 나오는 사람들은 맨정신으로 어찌 이짓을 했나 묘한 데서 감탄했네요.
Bom, é o meu primeiro contato com um game da série Gal*Gun. Pelo que sei ela se iniciou na era do Xbox 360/PS3 e daí em diante foi lançando títulos posteriores, incluso este, que é exclusivo para PC (e exclusivo para uso de VR), como descrito no título.
É um jogo relativamente simples de entender, você controla um cara que tem uma 2 "armas", uma que funciona como um "aspirador de pó" na mão esquerda e outra que serve para dar "tiros", que fica na mão direita (a ideia aqui é como se você atira-se "flechas de cupido", pelo que dá a entender).
Compreendendo a ambientação, você está em uma escola (o jogo tem 8 fases, todas, com exceção da última, que é em uma caverna, rolam em ambiente escolar) e você está sendo perseguido por várias garotas que parecem ter sido vítimas de cupido e estão indo atrás de você. O seu objetivo é "atirar" nelas e livrá-las de uns mini demônios que ficam presos nelas em muitas das vezes (aqui o importante é atirar nesses mini demônios e logo em seguida sugá-los com a arma da mão esquerda, como segunda opção, pode matar esses mini demônios, mas o melhor é capturá-los, rendem mais pontos).
No geral o jogo é bem kawaii (fofo) e é bem tranquilo de jogar, quase um jogo casual, neste sentido. Até agora tenho 3 horas de gameplay, que diria que é o suficiente para terminar todas as missões e até repetir parte delas (que já fiz, diga-se de passagem). Mencionando sobre seu conteúdo, no geral, é bem "safe", apesar da temática, o máximo que você vai poder ver aqui é algo ecchi, mas bem de leve (acho que alguns outros títulos da série são mais apelativos neste sentido, mas, só vou saber quando jogar rs).
Fora isso, também é possível tirar fotos e dialogar individualmente com as alunas e professoras em um modo a parte (ainda não sei o objetivo ao certo, se é que exista um, neste modo). A jogatina básica dá pra concluir em cerca de 1 hora e meia, mas certamente deve levar horas se for querer adquirir todas as conquistas do jogo. Graficamente o jogo não é nada espetacular, mas tudo tem um visual bem agradável.
Em resumo, seria isso. Recomendo o jogo, valendo ficar atento ao nicho mais específico no qual o game de enquadra, mas vale a pena colocar na lista de desejos junto aos demais da série, o preço promocional é bem interessante (eu mesmo peguei em época de promo rs).

Небольшая короткая игра с множеством нововведений, которые были, впоследствии, перенесены в Gal*Gun 2. Если вы любите необычные игры и у вас есть VR гарнитура, обязательно попробуйте, и насладитесь этим милым рельсовым шутером. Пусть в игре нет сюжета и мало уровней, но опыт в VR всё это более чем окупает, особенно если вы фанат серии.

Exactly what i expected!
う～ん・・・このゲームとは違う、ぎゃるがん2VRが神過ぎてこの少し安いただフェロモンゴーグルで撃つだけのお色気ソフトは全然面白くないです。このソフトがあるせいで半端に飽きてしまい、本家のストーリーがあり主人公として壮大なVR体験のできるぎゃるがん2VRに手を出さないユーザーがいると思うと邪魔なソフトですね。もっともっとこのメーカーが作るVRやりたいのでぜひこのソフトだけじゃなくぎゃるがん2VRやってこのメーカーのVRの真価を見てほしい。

It's fun for almost 2hrs, but I don't think that makes the 30$ price tag.
FPS girl shooter, nothing bad, anime reactions. Not worth the price.

Just got VR recently and I'm noticing something. Playing through Half-Life: Alyx I can get right up in a Heavy Combine Soldier's face with a Shotgun no problem. A love smitten schoolgirl sneaks up behind me with a confession letter and I jump right out of my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Skeleton.
