Плюсы: 1) Можно выбирать упоротые варианты ответа, и это сработает; 2) Не открыл её, но абсолютно уверен, что должна быть секретная концовка с темнокожим другом главного героя.

Главное достоинство - можно сказать инстаграм-модели, что это ненастоящая работа.

Definitly not playable on the Steam Deck! Crashes, black screen and other issues. Tried multiple times with different settings, disabled in-game Steam Overlay and more, nothing worked. Worse is that you can't skip videos in this game, there is no fast foreward and there is no autosave beetween each video, so when the game crashes you have to start all over again!

Vinny and Maya have such cute smiles. They really grew on me.

As for the story, I think there were some inconsistencies in the dialogue if you paid close attention, especially in certain interactions with other characters. That said, it was my first time playing an FMV and dating sim game, so the experience felt quite refreshing.

Зате ми можемо обрати трьох із пʼяти дівчат з якими можемо піти на перше побачення, а далі гра йде "на вибування", поки ти не запросиш на третє побачення лише одну з них. Попри якусь наївність та місцями пласкі діалоги, від гри віє теплом і добротою. У якийсь момент навіть ловиш себе на думці, ніби справді перебуваєш на онлайн-зустрічі, адже всі відповіді і ситуації ти проганяєш через призму власного сприйняття і субʼєктивної оцінки зовнішності, міміки, голосу тощо.
Тому для першого проходження я рекомендую відповідати так як відчуваєш сам. Бо повторні проходження вже дають тобі "другий шанс", де ти просто намагаєшся не потрапити в пастку та сподобатися дівчині, якій насправді і не хочеш подобатися. У мене так і вийшло: лише з [b]Маєю[/b] все склалося добре, а інші зустрічі навіть не дотягували до другого етапу. Між побаченнями є вставки де твій найкращій друг оцінить твоїх дівчат і розкаже як правильно підкатувати.

Після першого проходження в гру вступає найбільший ворог жанру "Choice matters" - досягнення привʼязані до конкретних рішень. Вони фактично нівелюють вагомість твого особистого вибору. Досягнення в таких іграх - це мій особистий біль.

So fühlt sich also (Online-)Dating an. Von meiner Warte aus sind die Gespräche durchaus authentisch umgesetzt, auch wenn es manchmal zu Situationen kommt, bei denen die nächste Aussage nicht ganz so passt oder der Übergang in die nächste Szene nicht ganz fließend ist. Es steht und fällt natürlich mit dem Hauptcharakter, wenn man zu diesem (und seinem Buddy) keine Verbindung aufbauen kann, ist das Spiel kein gutes Erlebnis mehr.

Ansonsten trifft man auf fünf unterschiedliche Charaktere und muss die passenden Antworten auf deren Fragen finden. Dabei sollte man immer tolerant sein, ansonsten wird es nichts mit einer Beziehung. Auf der Gegenseite sind die Frauen meistens sehr tolerant, was bestimmte Ansichten oder Einstellungen angeht, wenn es bei bestimmten Themen jedoch nicht zu Übereinstimmungen kommt, sinkt dennoch die Beliebtheit. Um alle Frauen final zu daten sind mehrere Durchläufe notwendig, dafür kann man schon gesehene Passagen dann überspringen. Für mich war es jedenfalls eine gelungene Umsetzung.

I hope the dev sees this: thank you for Saffron. Lockdown was so hard. I was completely pained choosing between Grace who fit my natural answers and Saffron who really could use the help. Необычный формат FMV стал отличным экспериментом! Здесь нет единого сюжета, нет путешествия от точки А до точки Б, есть лишь одна грамотно реализованная идея.

Из плюсов можно выделить:

- Колоритные персонажи.
Каждое действующее лицо запоминается и выделяется. У каждого есть свой характер, свой стиль, свои особенности. Все: и девушки, и парни держатся в собственном неповторимом образе. Так же это позволяет ощутить, насколько люди разные, что, в контексте данной истории, имеет огромное значение.

- Интересная задумка.
Вероятно, сама идея механики - онлайн-свиданий, родилась из-за обстоятельств, в которых оказались все - от разработчиков до актёров. Она органично работает и добавляет собственный шарм истории, будь то обсуждение отношений на расстоянии или искренности людей лично и онлайн. Также, здесь выбор строится, в основном, не на действиях, а на разговорах. Это очень помогает расширить возможности собственной эмпатии, даёт много пищи для размышлений и порой даже самый эмоциональный экшн не заставит настолько задуматься, как этот FMV.

- Хорошая работа со звуком.
Учитывая технические особенности производства, можно смело предположить, что одна из самых важных частей - звук, будет среднего качества. Однако, всех персонажей хорошо слышно, а некоторые дефекты органичны, объяснимы и ненапрягающие. Не без нюансов, но о них в минусах.

- Пройденные фрагменты можно пропускать.
Всегда выделяю этот пункт либо в плюсах, либо в минусах. Если сначала пройти цепочку событий "A B D E G", а при повторном прохождении получить цепочку "A C D E F", то фрагменты "D" и "E" можно пропустить до принятия следующего решения. Комфортно проходить истории заново.

- Характеристики имеют смысл.
Вообще впервые встречаю такое в FMV. Это не совсем те характеристики, что были раньше, которые менялись в зависимости от принятия решений. Эти характеристики игрок задаёт сам в самом начале, создавая профиль в приложении. Самое удивительное: фото, вид занятости и интересы спровоцируют разные разговоры, выводы и предрасположения в ходе общения с другими людьми. Пример из самого начала: когда главный герой общается со своим другом, он может сказать, что он устал, работая в отделении, если выбрать работу в сфере медицины при создании профиля. Или же девушка может отреагировать на конкретные фотографии по-разному. Очень приятное и прекрасно подходящее дополнение.

- Сюжет наполнен деталями.
Друг главного героя посоветует ему обращать внимание на детали, речь и задний фон при видеозвонках. Это было, по сути, адресовано и игроку. Звонки наполнены деталями, которые легко упустить из виду и которые можно осмысленно заметить при повторном прохождении. Например, у Шейны всегда есть бокал на заднем плане, о котором она говорит на первой встрече или (спойлер) [spoiler]на первом звонке Пейдж говорит "мы сидим дома"[/spoiler].

Теперь о минусах:

- Есть технические заминки.
Чётче всего это заметно на звонках с Пейдж: звук периодически становится тихим, но позже нормальная громкость возвращается. Также, после первых трёх свиданий, начинают встречаться мелкие погрешности в субтитрах, например: "слушать об это". Легко пропустить, но если заметить хоть раз, то следующие с большей вероятностью попадут в обзор.

Просто факты:

- Есть скрытая реклама.
Если я верно понимаю, друг главного героя в некоторых сценах играет в игру "Maid of Sker" от Wales Interactive, выпущенную за три с половиной месяца до выхода Five Dates.

- Есть отталкивающие персонажи.
Конечно, это определённые образы, которые актёры отлично отыгрывают, однако, не могу не заметить, что им неизбежно придётся потакать при прохождении на 100%. Пусть это и является частью общей идеи, но умолчать об этом не могу.

Как итог, это превосходный продукт, наполненный интересными историями с хорошим юмором и приятным геймплеем. Не стал выделять актёров, так как абсолютно все идеально справились со своей задачей. Этот FMV больше не про онлайн-свидания, а про взаимоотношение людей. Здесь чётко показано насколько люди разные и неоднозначные, насколько непредсказуемы могут быть последствия от необдуманно брошенных фраз и как можно прийти к расположению других людей. Однозначно рекомендую к приобретению и полному прохождению.

To je tak, když je na Steamu vánoční výprodej a člověk má menší splín, že je osamělý a opuštěný ňouma, a tak si při projíždění whishlistu řekne, že by si konečně mohl koupit Five Dates, na které už tam padá prach hodně dlouho. To by jednoho přece mohlo trochu rozptýlit, ne? Při hraní ale narazí na dívku svých snů, která je bohužel jen virtuální. A tak má ten splín, který měl na začátku, na konci ještě větší. Overall, a very fun game, worth the entertainment and enough engagement to keep you interested until the end. I was having lots of fun analyzing each video scenario, the options I would choose, even though you could just cheese and pick whichever stereotypical choice will fit each personality like music with the rave girl and being vegan tolerate with the vegan girl.
A few choices really surprised me like the horror question, really kept me paying attention. Shoutout to the fun choices inbetween. I'm glad there was more than 1 date because sometimes you just get passed so quickly like dang. Overall really fun, hard choice to make but I went with the vegan that seemed to like my jokes and wasn't treating me like an intern interview.

여주들 얼굴이 미인형은 아니지만 이 점이 오히려 더 현실적인것 같기도 하네요.

세세한 대사까지는 직접 선택할 수 없어서 내가 의도한 느낌과 다른 대사가 나오는 경우가 있는데 조금 아쉽긴 하지만 어쩔수 없는 부분이라고 생각합니다.

미인형 여주들을 원하신다면 다른 게임을 추천드리고 그냥 간단하게 장르 자체를 즐기시는 분들은 괜찮게 플레이 가능한 게임인것 같습니다.

went into this completely blind without reading any of the game's page or looking at any images. it was honestly much better than i expected, it had a few cheesy moments but i feel like it added to the immersion. i liked the choices, and i like that there's no save feature so you have to be very certain in your decision before you pick it, which makes it even more fun when its timed. the characters felt super detailed, no path feels empty or incomplete and im 100% gonna try to get all achievements !!

İnteraktif film tarzı oyunları zaten çok seviyorum ve Five Dates bence bu türün adeta atası. Hem anlatım tarzı hem de seçimlerin etkisi o kadar doğal ki oynarken hiç sıkılmadım. Karakterler gerçekçi, diyaloglar akıcı ve her seçim gerçekten önem taşıyor.

Ve Saffron… yani açık konuşayım, oyunu bitirdiğimde kendimi resmen ona aşık buldum <3 Enerjisi, konuşmaları, tarzı… her sahnesi ayrı keyifliydi. Oyun bitse bile aklınızda kalacak türden.

Kısacası interaktif hikâye sevenler için kesinlikle tavsiye ediyorum. Kısa, eğlenceli ve kendini hiç sıkmadan izlettiren bir deneyim.

All 5 women are SO unlikable--I wouldn't date any of them if I had a choice! They are all SO flawed in the worst possible ways: Maya is airheaded and ditzy; Grace is so uptight and full of herself; Saffron is so woo woo and has major uncontrolled health problems; Paige intentionally failed to mention she has a child; and Shaina (the worst one of them all) is so hypocritical and seriously needs to move away from her super controlling parents (Shaina says she's living this poverty life to try to save for a house and yet she doesn't like it when you say Success is an important factor in a partner--she says money isn't important, but that's clearly her trying to make herself feel better about her awful living situation). One thing that really bothered me about Shaina is when her mom called out and said "it's 8 o'clock, you have to go clap"--I literally said "What?!?! Did she say 'clap'? Why in the world would she say that/why would that matter." The clapping thing should be such a non-issue, and yet they made it into this dealbreaker thing where Shaina has to leave a date because she has to go clap.... She sure needs to get her priorities straightened out.

Using the pandemic to develop a game set in the pandemic is ... pragmatic? So, I guess there's that. Other than that, the game offers an easy completion for your collection.

[h2]The Sorta-Kinda-Grinds-My-Gears-Stuff[/h2]

From a technical standpoint, there are some inconveniences. The audio in the menu is way too loud; turning it down makes the game itself too silent. Something that seems to be a recurring issue in titles from Wales Interactive. Also, during gameplay the sound level fluctuated at times, which can be quite annoying.

[h2]The Atrociously-Bad Stuff[/h2]

The rest. The acting is mediocre at best. The dialogues are utter cwinge and don't feel authentic. Hence, the characters are neither relatable nor likable. Vinny keeps repeating himself and awkwardly stalling while you choose what to say next, which makes the interaction redundant and without any substance. They really tried to present a diverse set of characters, but they fail to be intriguing and remain boring af.

For $5, I think this game is worth trying. It's not for everyone. I am not sure if it is for me. But I am a girl.
I want to see a guy version of this where the 'dates' are males and you can see how crazy men can be. LOL

In this game, you play from the point of view of a hetero-guy, Vinny, who is trying online dating for the first time. You are coached by your bestie, who is really funny. Vinny goes on web dates with various women. The women that are portrayed here have a lot of what are probably 'red flags.' Was that intentional?

I am only a few minutes into the game, but I find as a female it is really easy to guess what the female wants to hear. So maybe this game would be more fun if you were a guy and I can see guys using this as training on how to talk to women. I feel like the responses of the women are pretty believable so far and easy to deduce. I am a little confused as to what the objective of the game is?

There is a score meter that shows how well you get a long with your 'date'. I had one of the 'dates' basically be a druggie who ghosted me for a joint. -.- Then, I had another one that felt like she was judging me really harshly & I found myself trying to appease her. LOL

I am hoping the game ends with a moral of the story to just be yourself. The game is entertaining. But again, I would like to see a reverse version. So many of these FMVs are from the point of view of male characters. I think women are a gaming audience too!

Five Dates captures a very specific moment in recent history - the early pandemic lockdown dating scene - and does so with surprising authenticity. As a period piece, it's genuinely interesting to revisit that strange time when video calls became our primary way of connecting romantically.

What works best is how uncomfortably real the awkward video date moments feel. Anyone who lived through pandemic dating will recognize the weird pauses, technical difficulties, and forced intimacy of trying to connect through a screen. The game doesn't shy away from how strange and exhausting that whole experience was.

The writing can be hit-or-miss - some characters feel like millennial stereotypes rather than fully realized people. The pacing occasionally drags, and certain dialogue choices seem arbitrary. But there are genuine moments of chemistry and connection that land well enough.

At full price it's probably too steep for what amounts to an interactive movie, but on sale it's worth experiencing as both entertainment and a document of a weird time we all lived through. Worth one playthrough to see how your instincts play out in this digital dating hellscape.
