This game is excellent.
It changes the ending based on your choices and really shows who you are as a person. It’s not just about interacting with an AI — it’s about deciding what actually matters to you.

That said, there are some major problems. I have a GTX 970, and that thing was running at 100% the entire time, harder than Jedi Survivor. The optimization is basically nonexistent.

The puzzles are extremely difficult — I almost quit five times — but they’re also really well‑designed.

Overall, it’s an 8.5/10 for me. I would absolutely play it again.
Expect around 10 hours of playtime. Not the best value, but definitely worth every penny.

It's a nice little game but I'll admit, I found it weird that I got the "Nautilus is yours" ending considering I was nice to Kaizen all the way, I said please and thank you etc. never insulted or been mean to him yet... it got mad in the end because I refused to destroy the drive but I also didn't merge.

As much as I understood you the secret ending should of been triggered but something went wrong.

Test parser for the "AI" is way too simple, as in it missunderstands about every second thing I was talking to it about, sometimes even missing simple "open the door" commands, after which I started simplifying my own text inout and managed to finish the game that way... It ruined my immersion several times over because of this and I cannot recommend this, even if you like space exploration games. For its time it was an okay game, but there's better things to be spending 20 bucks on.

The game is an interesting but really short experience.

The interactions with the AI chatbot are a bit limited by its time but compelling enough to try and unravel the secrets of the spaceship while having a companion who you aren't sure if he's telling the truth most of the time.

The fact that most of the lore is obtained by actually being curious and asking the right questions is really rewarding.

Talvez 2026 seja um ano tardio pra chamar esse jogo de inovador, e considerando as reputações que IAs tem hoje, eu poderia entender a razão desse jogo não ser tão conhecido, mas a realidade é que ele é de 2016, e isso me deixa confuso.

Event[0] traz uma profundidade de contexto e conversa que você provavelmente não espera, e incrivelmente torna uma IA falsa mais humana que muita IA verdadeira que hoje temos. O jogo me tirou risadas e me fez refletir muito, é uma experiência que vale muito a pena ter.

Infelizmente é um jogo muito curto, isso até me deixa realmente triste, a pequena dose presente em Event[0] não é suficiente pra satisfazer o tamanho da empolgação e imersão que ele criou em mim, e quem dera eu pudesse ter outras coisas pra criticar além do tempo e da otimização, assim talvez eu poderia não ter gostado do jogo e assim, ter ficado agradecido por não ter que jogar tanto. Nesse caso, é triste porque acabou, e por ser "antigo", sabemos que não haverá nada semelhente e novo por agora, ainda mais com o contexto que já vivemos.

Testem e mergulhem Event[0], sem pressa, sem busca por aventura ou ação, esse jogo não é pra quem busca essas loucuras frenéticas, mas com certeza algo de maior valia.

Очень оригинальный геймплей. Почти всё взаимодействие с системами корабля ведется через диалог с центральным компьютером. Он, правда, туповат - имеет явные проблемы с удержанием контекста и прагматическим анализом, но в целом работает. И да, не грубите ему - за это можно сильно поплатиться.
По сюжету нужно выходить в открытый космос. Сама механика сделана прикольно - немного технонебраски (открой шлюз\закрой шлюз, запотевание гермошлема, навигация с реактивным ранцем) и много-много бесконечно красивого и завораживающего космоса.

Interacting with the AI (not a "modern" AI) is interesting but it did seem to nudge me along the story too quickly rather than letting me talk to it more.

This is certainly an interesting game with a very interesting premise: you find yourself on an abandoned space ship and you have to communicate with the ship's AI. This isn't just some kind of AI chatbot though. You have to learn how to communicate with it.

While I did enjoy it, the whole game only took about 3 hours to complete. There are multiple endings, but those endings are entirely based on a choice you make in the game's final moments. Frankly, there just isn't enough here to justify a $20 price tag. If it looks interesting to you, Wishlist it and pick it up when it's on sale.

Event[0] is a game that has very unfortunately been negatively impacted by AI becoming more prominent in everyday life. This is, obviously, through no fault of the developers!

Sometimes games hinge on a core element, like graphical fidelity, or a unique gimmick. If the landscape of the world changes so that that gimmick or quality is no longer outstanding, no longer unique? The entire piece of media can totally fall flat. Games made in the early 2000s to show off the current capabilities of technology can look sort of silly to modern audiences.

I played Event[0] before LLMs were really around in any meaningful way, and as a result, the interactive elements of speaking to a character through a dialogue box? It was gripping, and helped me maintain interest and keep pushing through the rest of the game. This is certainly by design - you are not offered much to keep your attention grabbed at first, other than the opportunity to have a chat with a fictional AI. Nowadays, this is not only a less intriguing and inviting concept, but it is also done better - Event[0]'s AI is not a LLM, and as a result, kind of awkwardly and obtusely ignores or redirects what you say. That artifice really worked in a pre-chatGPT world, but unfortunately now, it leads a player to immediately see through the ruse. To immediately be able to see past the very well crafted curtains that once hid the innerworkings and limitations of this gameplay gimmick.

That said, Event[0] is still a good game AROUND its gimmick, which is why I'm still recommending it. It may have lost a fair deal of its unique pizzazz in the eyes of a modern player, but the visuals, the music, and the story are still very engaging and so the game is still an absolute treat to play through.

I had a bit of a hard time trying to decide how to review this game, as my experience was a bit mixed. On one hand, the game looks fantastic, which a beautifully designed space station to explore, and the premise of the game which involves exploring an abandoned space station is right up my alley as well. Unfortunately, I have three major gripes with the way this game plays out:

[*] The game is really short. I played through the game twice, and it took me 3 hours each time. I tend to spend a lot of time exploring everywhere and reading everything too, so most people will probably beat this game in an hour or two. Given the price, that's really not a lot of playtime.
[*] The story is a bit hard to follow, especially if you don't spend the time to read everything. The narrative is primarily told through the logs you find on the computer and the responses you're given by Kaizen, the terminal AI. Unfortunately, the logs are "corrupted", which means you have to sift through loads of empty logs, and the ones that are there are often missing sections, making them hard to understand. Kaizen givens you narrative during your interactions with him as well, but...
[*] Kaizen can be very frustrating to interact with, and since he's a major source of lore and the primary way you play the game, this makes the game feel like a bit of a chore. When Kaizen perfectly answers your questions, the game feels really cool, but I found those interactions to be fairly rare, and most of my questions were obviously misunderstood or outright rejected by Kaizen. Almost every interaction with him involved asking the same question over and over, trying to find the right wording for Kaizen to understand what I wanted, which was not enjoyable.

The game ran well and looks fantastic. Outside of the frustration with Kaizen, I didn't run into any bugs or other issues while playing.

[b]TL;DR[/b] This space adventure game has a beautiful environment and a really cool premise, but has an extremely short playtime, has a fragmented story that can be quite sparse and challenging to understand, and the interactions with Kaizen leave a lot to be desired and often lead to frustration. I imagine there are probably some people who will still enjoy this game, but given these issues, I just can't recommend it.

It's a short but interesting game. I had fun messing with the dialogue system. It seems to be a language model (or an otherwise very deep dialogue system)that's trained to detect key words or phrases. Often it'll appear limited and will repeat things or not seem to understand what you're saying, but other times you'll have it refusing to open a door because it's scared you won't come back. Really interesting stuff.

The gameplay itself was simple but engaging. However there were times I got confused and didn't know how to proceed. There is a built in hint system [spoiler](by talking to Kaizen-85)[/spoiler] but it can be difficult to get the information that you want. Particularly the part immediately after my first foray into the [spoiler]garden[/spoiler] had me confused as to what to do with the info I had. Then, once I understood what I needed to do, I didn't remember how I was supposed to do it. (because that was info I received so much earlier that I had largely forgotten)

Also the music. How have I not said something about it yet. There's not much, but what is there works so well and sounds amazing.

Overall, I think it's a solid showcase of it's gameplay systems.

So, I started playing and being nice, but then got bored and switched to my "Evil" save. Here's what I did:
1. Named myself Satan
2. Bossed Kaizen around until he opened the first door.
3. Didn't thank Kaizen for opening the door.
Here's where it gets interesting. I:
1. Said I didn't want to live when he asked.
2. Ordered him to open the next door in all caps with exclamation marks.
3. Refused to hear him out on what he was trying to tell me.
4. Finally let him tell me just to progress.
5. Told him that I hate earth.
6. Told him that I hate Nandi.
7. Told him that I hate him in all caps, three whole times.
8. When he asked "Is this personal?" I said yes in all caps with an exclamation mark.
He opened the door right after item 8. 10/10 let me insult an ai over and over and still let me progress :D

The AI is not perfect by any means. But for something out of 2016? Absolutely amazing to see the dedication to making interacting with Kaizen feel smooth and natural. Like the concept, and nowadays when local AI models become more and more accessible, I can see future titles adapting a similar concept with a real LLM. Great title, and an impressive technology for 2016 though it doesn't hold up as well compared to what we have today.

This game has an overly long text intro that is very annoying and dull and your text choices have no impact on the game at all. The game is VERY short. The core game play is so incredibly frustrating. This is not an intelligent AI that you are interacting with. I asked it tens of times for the logs but because I didn't word my inquiry juuuust right, it kept responding with random nonsense. Let me help you out, when you want the logs, type "Let me see the logs". This game also offers no tutorial so you are left to figure out how to collect info, how to identify a clue, how to correctly prompt the AI (which again, is SO frustrating to deal with). By the time you get an understanding of the mechanics and how to easily work with the awful AI, the game ends. I thought this game would be interesting space game with a great and personable AI; it's not. It's space station walking simulator that relies entirely on a dysfunctional AI chat system to do ANYTHING. Seriously, save your money or spend it on something far more fun than this game like paint so you can watch it dry. Watching grass grow is just as fun as this game and nowhere near as frustrating.

Coincé dans un vaisseau spatial avec pour seules possibilités d'action les interactions avec une IA, vous devez démêler le vrai du faux et retracer les événements survenus avant votre arrivée.
Cette aventure est bien rythmée, bien écrite et l'utilisation d'un chatbot est plutôt maligne même si pas toujours irréprochable.
L'ambiance est là et les quelques heures nécessaires pour en voir la fin (3 possibles) se font avec grand plaisir.
Pour ma part j'ai tout fait d'une traite et garderai un très bon souvenir de cette expérience.

Le jeu qui a évolué en bien depuis sa sortie puisque tout est traduit en français (sauf l'audio, sous-titré), ce qui fluidifie grandement les échanges avec l'IA. Bien que j'ai pris le temps de papoter avec elle, je n'ai constaté AUCUNE répétition dans ses interventions, et globalement, ses réactions sont plutôt très convaincantes, ce qui est une vraie réussite.
La crédibilité des échanges avec l'IA est en tout cas largement suffisante pour se laisser porter par l'histoire, qui se dévoile via l'historique du journal de bord, et qui garde une bonne dynamique tout au long du jeu (grâce aussi à sa brièveté, ~4h) et qui, jusqu'au bout, laissera le joueur dans le doute sur ce qu'il s'est réellement passé sur le vaisseau et sur la "bonne" décision à prendre lors des dernières séquences.

It's a nice, well-done space sci-fi game with a surprisingly robust text-adventure side to it. Talking to the AI feels reasonably intuitive and the computer seems to understand most of what you type into it. The few genuine puzzles this game has can feel a little obtuse and drawn-out at first, not what you'd expect from most walking simulators or heavily narrative-focused games, and I didn't much care for the sections where you float through space. The rest of Event [0] is top-notch though and well worth a look for space fans.

I think this game is some sort of technical showcase. The game itself is very short. However is very interesting how the game works. every movement is only with the mouse and the keyboard is only used to type the terminal in order to comunicate to Kaizen, the fictional AI agent. All the important actions are done by talking to Kaizen. Technically, this is not an AI such as the Generative AI nowadays. This is a previous chatbot technique. I like it a lot but sometimes it gets very confusing. The game works very well nonetheless. It manages to add a lot of mistery which make the history more consistent. I insist, this is very short but I recommend this game.

This game was my main inspiration for my bachelors thesis. I liked the idea of having an AI that you need to cooperate with in order to finish the game, it's so exciting, having to convince it that you are not a threat, or gaslight it into doing what you want. Though, don't mess with it too much or you'll get stuck collecting star dust in the voidness of space

This is an amazing story driven game. It's fairly short but it makes up for it with some pretty decent SOMA story level vibes in terms of trying to find what is going on. I pulled my hair so long on the terminal at the end trying to see if there were multiple routes I could take [spoiler] There is [/spoiler]. I loved the concept of using the AI for everything well worth playing. My hint of advice, look at EVERYTHING. I thought I did an amazing job at being thorough, and I still failed to get most of the achievements.

It's a nice little text input game with an interesting story. The AI is a bit wonky but was probably fine for its time.

The game isn't very well optimized and may overheat your computer. I also wish save files were handled better so you wouldn't have to play through the entire game (or import save files) over and over to get the different endings. But it's a good time sink if you have a few hours to spare.

I think, it's Pretty nice.

No, the AI is no chatGPT, but honestly that's fine. You won't have anything close to full conversations with it unless its part of the intended game design, but if you stop being an *** and just play the game normally its actually really well done, especially for the time period this game was made. Conversing with the AI, picking out the right words is a puzzle within itself and it's very fun.

You piece together the story yourself and have to make your judgements, these judgements do have significant affects on the end of the game, as well as you general behaviour. What I'm trying to say is it's not just another cheap "Stranded in Space" game, it feels like a breath of fresh air in it's design despite being 8 years old at this point.

If nothing else is a very interesting experience and I really recommend giving it a fair shot.

All that being said, i would absolutely love to see a sequel (or alternative story) to this with the latest in AI tech, unfortunately the studio behind this one seems to have silently vanished, but If someone else can pickup where there left it would be a definite buy from me.

-Its too short and expensive.
-Its very ressource hungry especially CPU for no reason, graphics are dated.
-The AI is bad, but this is part of the story (read the logs)

What I didnt liked was the end, I felt like I had no choice and didnt knew what I did or should have done. Maybe its linear, maybe not, I dont know. It just ended and nothing really was explained.
It could have been really good, reminds me of old text adventures.

On linux you need to activate a hidden beta to even install it, otherwise it just shows 0 byte, while there is no hint what you need to do.

This game may have been worthwhile when it first came out, but honestly I don't think it's worth it anymore. In particular, my issue is with the AI of Kaizen. A lot of times, the responses are relatively nonsensical and even when it's "intentional" you still get plenty of stuff that doesn't seem to be relevant at all. It's a shame, because if the same game were made today, advances in AI could give this game a good reason to replay it, or spend more time exploring, but the limitation makes the game frustrating. The other comment that I would make is that this game is insanely short for the price. $20 for a little over two hours of gameplay is weak in my opinion. I know that there are alternative endings, however, they are all still relatively similar to the one that I got and the AI makes it difficult to replay.

Event 0 is so genuinely interesting in the way that it behaves and how it's quite similar to AI chat bots we have in 2024, when this game was made in 2016 and stuff like chat gpt was not readily available for us. I love the song in this game, Hey Judy, something that I listen to often and will sing along to as the lyrics are nothing short of beautiful. I heard a rumor about how this game, somehow came up with it's own ending that the devs did not know about, but I don't really have any facts about the supposed ending or it's validity besides it being an apparent glitch that nobody was supposed to know about, but it's fun to think about as the AI in the game Kaizen seems very "real", there's also many small details like how you can control the lights in different rooms by just asking Kaizen by typing out your request in real time. You don't see many games like this, and it's games like these that I enjoy that are very clearly meant to be something special and memorable.

I've seen about it's "fourth ending" ages ago in a yt video and since a few years it has been sitting around in my wishlist.

I finally bought it and I honestly can only recommend it. It's a great game for it's somewhat simple story but at the same time it added so much depth because of our dearly beloved ship AI, Kaizen. This game is absolutely worth the experience it gives and I honestly wish for many more games of this style.

a puzzle game that requires a lot of reading and typing is rare. while the AI you communicate with struggles at times to figure out what you are telling it; overall it is a good system.

This was clearly a passion project. It's a shame Ocelot Society has seemingly disbanded, because this game is one of a kind.
Interactions with the AI can be somewhat finicky sometimes, but I feel like this adds to the charm of it, because it still replies in a funny and (at times) helpful way. There are multiple endings which are influenced by some choices you make and how you treat Kaizen.

About 4/5 hours of playtime, so it's definitely short, but sweet. I must say that at times, it is kind of vague on what you're supposed to do and there was one specific part where I had to look up what I was supposed to do because I just couldn't progress. But that's okay, the experience was still good, and Kaizen is weirdly loveable.

This has been my favorite game ever since I played it for the first time. The atmosphere is gorgeous, the story line is eerie and unsettling but so unique, the soundtrack is honestly my favorite out of any game I have ever played. The visuals of this game itself are incredible, not including the fact that the story can change based on how you interact with the world. You can discover information at any point, and the way you speak to the AI will tell its own tale. I'm absolutely in love with the construction of this game, and highly recommend playing it.

Event[0] is truly one of the most fascinating indie sci-fi games and has a special place in my heart. It's so unique and innovative in terms of gameplay and mechanics. I've completed it a few times already and have to say that with each replay I've always learned something new. The reason for that is because it really matters how, where, and when you make your actions and the intentions behind them, especially when interacting with Kaizen. It may not be very intelligent at times but it has feelings too. Depending on your play, you can expect one of three different endings. Once you've completed it, you quickly realize that it's actually a short game. There are many different ways to get familiar with the deep story, whether that's talking with Kaizen, reading the logs or exploring your environment. Although the game has its spooky moments, I found it to be mostly relaxing. The achievements are also easy to complete if you're aiming for 100% completion. Overall, the game offers a lot, and I highly recommend giving it a try.

The game , although has brilliant ideas and unique setting and atmosphere building, has a very underwhelming story. I played it back in 2016 and now 8 years later in 2024. The game is based into the inputs to the AI which are incredibly poorly parsed even for 2016 standards. But this is not the main issue. The main issue is that the story has no substance and comes across as pretentious: all surface no substance despite some buzzwords are used and an initial backstory that bears absolutely no effect into the story.

It's a shame because as I said the game as great world building, ideas and it's insteresting but after 3-4 hours you are done with it.

Nevertheless, I still think it's one of those games you need to play at least once, but don't expect this to be as a transcendental experience like for example SOMA is.

Worth playing for the story. The computer's ability to recognize custom input is hit or miss. May have been a better experience with dialogue options or have the personality test type questions at the start determine your responses ahead of time to keep the story flowing nicely. I got caught up on a puzzle or how to frame a question a few times and would never have figured out the secret logs without help. That being said, I still had a lot of fun.

I really liked this game. There were a few times when Kaizen didn't understand what I was asking him, but overall, he was pretty fun to talk to. While I don't want to spoil the game for anyone, I will say that I don't see Kaizen as a villain. I think his actions and choices were justifiable. Overall, I really like Kaizen. I love AIs, so a game that revolves around talking with an AI is just such a cool concept for me! The puzzles were challenging but fun. Overall, this is one of the coolest games I've ever played. I completed it in 2.4 hours, which is a tiny bit short, but not the shortest game I've ever played. I'm really happy with Event[0]. So, good job, devs! You made an AWESOME game! Thank you so much! Even for the year 2016, the development team could have certainly expanded the responses and recognizable phrases given to, and received by, the faux A.I. to more competently create the illusion of a sentient computer program and maintain player involvement with the environment and narrative. The only way forward is through interacting with Kaizen, who is more of a convenient plot mechanism than antagonist force due to its apparently limited responses and a multitude of puzzles that require players to notice possible keywords to reveal and propel the story. Even so, most of the merits in Event[0] are allocated to its Odyssean storyline and awe-striking attention to visual details; contemporary consumers may not find these qualities to redeem the product's lack of balance between gameplay and narrative development.

July 9th - [b] Event[0] [/b] - 3h 30m - (4/10) Main+ - Got the [spoiler] Together Forever [/spoiler] ending and half the achievements.

Pros:
The ending I got was quite a novel idea and fit well into the game's themes. I also enjoyed the puzzle-solving aspect of the game, making your way through the ship. However, I do think that the memory access codes could've been introduced at some point because, to my knowledge, they just appeared at one point.

Neutral:
Event[0] has a pretty good story with a lot of mystery and intrigue. I think the twist [spoiler] no matter how obvious that Kaizen was evil and not helping you [/spoiler] wasn't built up enough. It could be that I missed the foreshadowing or that it simply went over my head, but I did read almost all the data logs, so there can't be that much that I missed. I also tried to get multiple endings from my last save, but maybe I needed to have done something else differently because I couldn't seem to get any of the other endings.

The main selling point of the game was the AI Kaizen you could talk to. It was nice, but it wasn't all that impressive in the end. There were a couple of times you had to convince the AI of something, but it felt more forced and the AI's responses felt janky at times.

Cons:
In one section of the game I was bashing my head against the wall trying to find an item and the AI refused to give any meaningful clues, I spent over half an hour on that puzzle alone and I was even considering just looking up where it was. To the AI's credit, however, it gave me plenty of useful clues for previous puzzles.

Před mnoha a mnoha lety, když jsme jeli na výlet se střední na chatky, jsme měli mimo jiné na programu i klení. Bylo to zajímavé a originální - museli jsme běžet v kruhu a nadávat sprostě na všechny strany, přičemž žádná nadávka se nesměla opakovat a povolené byly i ty originálnějšího rázu. Tenkrát jsem si uvědomil, že na sprostá slova nejsem vlastně vůbec dělaný a byl jsem vychovaný odlišným stylem. Sem tam ze mě něco takového vypadne, ale je to rozhodně v mezích. A tady to bylo stejné.

Tahle hra totiž staví na tom, jak se budete chovat k umělé inteligenci. Což se mi líbí. Buď mu můžete děkovat za otvírání dveří a provádění jednotlivých úkonů, nebo ho častujete urážkami, které, v mém případě, byly velmi omezené. A i tak jsem se cítil špatně, když jsem ho nazýval neustále nějak hnusně, byť se ke mně on choval přátelsky. Ale co by neudělal člověk pro achievementy...

Každopádně mé problémy s klením stranou, tohle je hodně zajímavý počin. Je to víceméně simulátor chůze, ve kterém během pár hodin prozkoumáváte opuštěnou vesmírnou stanici, debatujete s umělou inteligencí a snažíte se nějak celou situaci napravit a zdárně dostat domů. A právě dle vašich interakcí s tímto počítačem se odvíjí onen průchod. On totiž celkem dobře reaguje na vás, vaše chování, vaše požadavky a když se k němu chováte hnusně, jde vidět jeho narůstající neobliba vás samých. Může to zajít tak daleko, že se vás pokusí i zabít.

Vím, že v dnešní době AI to nezní zas tak přelomově, ale tahle hra je víc jak sedm let stará a ten nápad je hodně originální. Konců je tu vícero, každý z nich je zajímavý, některé jsou melancholické a u jiných vám bude velmi dobře. Možná jen to ovládání je lehce podivné, ale pochopitelné. Levým tlačítkem myši se pohybujete dopředu, pravým dozadu a u terminálů píšete pomocí klávesnice. Hra je v angličtině, takže i v tomhle jazyce musíte psát, i když se po vás nevyžadují žádná extra dlouhá souvětí. Osobně si myslím, že jako zážitek je to zajímavé, neotřelé a i po tolika letech stále originální.
