2016 was the year of Endless Fables: The Minotaur's Curse and Enigmatis 3: The Shadow of Karkhala. They have two similarities moreover: both are impeccable games released the same year.

The Shadow of Karkhala brought in an absolutely phenomenal introduction to the game, the finest of them all across the trilogy. Animations and cutscenes were spectacular in quality, proving that 2016 was definitely a great era for Artifex Mundi. If we speak about novelty, the loading screen when you enter the game, save, and quit is really unique. I have not seen such in other 2016 AM games. The story has a fascinating twist as you progress towards this end, but I was still absolutely speechless from the get-go. I had a hunch the twist was going to happen, but it still caught me off-guard.

While I rain praises for this game's delivery, I had caught eye with some inconsistencies as well. Puzzles are very basic, very common, and very AM. Nothing is much new about it and I have no other comments about it. The voice acting was delivered not too great, but the whole story and quality of the visuals make up for it. There was also no indicators for collectibles and some are very hard to see. If you're a casual not looking to complete all the achievements, you don't have to worry.

Speaking of a complete achievements run, a 100% one-run is possible for Steam's achievements, but do note that there is a few achievements ingame that Steam does not count. This is particular to the alternate gamemode when playing the HO scenes. If you want to finish the achievements ingame, you may have to do a second run of the main story. If you wish to do a 100% achievements run based on Steam's, then one run will suffice.

This was such a wonderful treat to end the trilogy, and a big respect to this release. Truly spectacular. I am more than impressed ever since I started the game, and even more so when I finished it. It took me about 3 hours for overall gameplay, including the side story.

As I wrap up this long review for this game, I will be placing this game a [u]9/10[/u] rating. All factors attributed to my experience and points I mentioned a few paragraphs back. This game is a sure recommend, but even so, play the entire trilogy first before you play this!

The (non-HO) locations look much better, which is welcome since you will spend most of your time in these games doing anything and everything but actual HO puzzles.

One aspect of the genre's transition toward a more narrative, naturalistic adventure format is that the HO scenes, inasmuch as they still exist, have transformed into something much less fun. Let me explain: HO games of old, even though they had about 25% of the pixels to work with, made every object visually clear and identifiable. They largely relied on juxtaposition to make the scenes interesting. That is to say, they had a lot of objects in unexpected places, but once you found one it was obvious what it was, and surprising that you didn't see it earlier. This is the same principle used by magicians: people think they observe the world as it is, but actually most of our perception is just assumptions about the way things *should* be. When we notice this, it fills us with a kind of awe and whimsy, and that was part of the charm of old hidden object games and books. This gave them a surreal look, that would be (or was) often absurd in the context of a conventional narrative (which the very early games didn't have at all).

But, in more recent games such as this, in the interest of making these scenes blend in with the rest of the game, which HO is now only a minor part of, the scenes are made to look more and more "plausible," and so the tricks they use have to change: I see a lot more ambiguous or partially obscured objects, and objects whose line and color are intentionally muddy. There are far fewer "how did I miss that?" moments and far more "what is that?" moments. Instead of a magic show it ends up feeling more like cleaning your room or organizing a deceased parent's estate.

If I was reading a (graphic) novel, I would expect better writing. If I was playing an adventure game, I'd expect more interesting, challenging, and original puzzles (and better writing). If I was playing a hidden object game, I'd expect to spend most of my time on (better) hidden object puzzles. Because I'm playing a game from this Frankenstein HOPA genre, all these expectations are subverted, and I can somnambulate through the succession of short mediocre encounters before any of them annoys me enough to judge it very harshly, but it is equally hard to say that it is actually any good.

THEY CAN BE TRIGGERED IN BOTH MAIN CHAPTER AND BONUS CHAPTER.

And in case of main chapter, you can easily restart it with a new profile.

But with bonus chapter, you'll have to waste your time and replay the whole main chapter again in order to unlock it. I got stuck in bonus chapter - I needed to go to dark room, but the game thinks I completed everything here and doesn't let me in. Had to watch walkthrough on YouTube. I knew abt another softlocking bug in first game, but it was the only one and it's very easy to avoid for unknowing players. But third game has multiple of them. This is an unforgivable thing.

Artifex Mundi promised to fix these bugs in 2016 but since then they never released a patch. I think they fixed it in Unsolved - a f2p collection of their games with aggressive monetization. This is the only game they're focused now since 2020.

It's a good game, good story telling. I've done a complete playthrough. My only gripe is when you ask for a hint on some of the puzzles (like the photo) it just auto solves it for you. That's not a hint. That's a skip and not what I asked for. But hey! I got to punch that Preacher in the face so that was great!

It's inconsistent in puzzle difficulty, at times because instructions are incomplete or items are not apparent even when you've used a hint on them, but at its best it's well done overall as a wrap up to the trilogy. I will say of all the HOGs I've played, the 'bonus chapter' here is actually pretty compelling.

On sale I found it a good value.

⠀⠀我感觉跟前作相比游玩流程更短了，本作更线性，基本依仗故事剧情推动，不像前作的谜题，在整个场景中游走。不过这样做的好处也就是谜题思路更加清晰、逻辑更说得通，也降低了迷题难度。

Ein sehr spannender Abschluss einer sehr spannenden Trilogie. Das Finale, der Endkampf hätte vielleicht noch mehr Knall gebrauchen können. Da fühlte sich der Endkampf des Vorgänger etwas wuchtiger an. Aber alles in einem ein sehr tolles Wimmelbild-Spiel mit einem Spannenden Plot-Twist gegen Ende.

Mein Ranking:
1 - Enigmatis 2: The Mists of Ravenwood (Brachte die Story richtig in Fahrt)
2 - Enigmatis 3: The Shadow of Karkhala (War ein guter Abschluss einer Trilogie)
3 - Enigmatis 1: The Ghosts of Maple Creek (Fing interessant an, aber brachte die Story noch nicht so richtig in Fahrt)

*Ich empfehle definitiv alle Teile zu spielen (am besten in der richtigen Reihenfolge)!

I'm playing this last installment of the trilogy with my daughter just like the other two. We're enjoying the mystical atmosphere and solving the puzzles together. :)

This has a nice modernized feel to it compared to the older Enigmatis games. Seems like each one has successfully reinvented itself and made the series, as a whole, better.

Not as good as the second game, but this whole series has been great for the HOG genre. Stunning art as expected, with decent puzzles and a good enough story, plus collectible bonus items. Bad voice acting, obviously, but that's a hallmark of HOGs. I don't like that Fang is mute, either. That feels like a very lazy insert to avoid writing dialogue and hiring a voice actor for her. Becky could talk in the second game. Anyway, pretty good game.

A very good game if you are into this kind. Story as well as graphics and sound are good, the hidden object scenes are tricky in a good way and there are no logic puzzle mind blowers that hinder your progress. A lot of hidden collectibles in the scenes reward observant players.

This is, hands down, one of the better/best Hidden Objects Games I have played. The illustrations and the graphics are good (based around the time it was made/released and type of game), the story is (mostly) keeping its red thread from the previous games. The storytelling is compelling, and tugged on the heart strings, even more so than its predecessors.

I highly recommend this game and the whole trilogy for those who enjoy HOGs!

I enjoyed my time better with the second game in the series than Enigmatis 3, but this game is decent. The story starts with an action sequence before flashing back to calmer times. There's been an effort to ground many of the Hidden Object searches more in reality, with searching for fragments and items depicted in art relief, alongside the normal shopping list of random objects. The companion girl is sadly mute and, while story relevant, seems to have less of a distinct personality than the girl in the previous game.

The art is great, the quality of life features are good. I'm honestly more of a fan of the Secret Order and the Grim Legends series also from Artifex Mundi, and I recommend diving into those well before the Enigmatis trilogy. That said, if you want to play modern fantasy noir rather than straight up fantasy, you may enjoy this series.

The optional collectible morphing objects in this were monochrome and wispy, and for some reason I had far more trouble finding them than those in frankly any other Artifex Mundi game I have played to date. Yet again, the Hidden Objects / Matching Cards test arena in the Extras menu is geared only for practice, not for attempting to claim lost achievements.

Ну что сказать, попались мне видосы в тикитоке о том, что: Об этой игре знают только я, разработчики и моя мама. И понеслась душа в рай. Вначале играла в игры от алаваров, теперь вот перешла на стим. Серия прикольная, есть сюжет, интриги почти и не было, все было понятно почти с самого начала. Удивил только Архангел во второй части и все. В целом все три части обошлись в +- 300р, так что не жалко. Лет через 10 перепройду :)

Buena tercera parte de la saga que, aunque me parece algo inferior a la segunda, es entretenida. El argumento hace varios juegos que ya dejó de tener sentido con tanta vuelta, pero al menos lo cierran, lo cual se agradece. La dificultad de los puzzles es muy baja comparada con otros juegos similares. De duración promedio, el capítulo extra sí que es notablemente más largo que otros del estilo. No tiene ninguna dinámica novedosa, pero al menos los logros no son demasiado complicados de obtener.

En definitiva, juego de objetos ocultos entretenidillo. No te va a "volar el cerebro", pero para jugar entre juegos, pues te da.

- While there was still a fair amount of moon logic, most of the game made sense
- [u]TIP:[/u] you can use the HINTS in the overworld to help you remember where to go, it won't interfere with the achievements, as they only apply to puzzles and object finding sections

- It was like this in the other games too, but often as a player you figure out something and try to act on it, but the game wont let you until you interact with the Evidence board so that the character knows

- This entry did have some of the more frustrating hidden objects, there was one hidden item that nearly drove me insane
- The story is the weakest of the 3, with the finale being very anti-climatic
- Audio settings are now split into Voice, Music and SFX, which is good, but some cutscenes still have an issue with balanced audio even if you lower the SFX

Quality chill hidden-object and puzzle game. I've always been satisfied with Artifex Mundi's level of polish in these types of games. Apart from some minor typos and grammatical errors in text, this is another solid and relaxing hidden object / puzzle game with an engaging continuation of the Enigmatis storyline that ties into the previous entries well.
In addition to the higher quality graphics compared to previous entries in the series, it also makes the hidden object puzzles more interesting with more dynamic / interactive objects.

Finalmente consegui jogar esse jogo. Quando mais nova eu jogava repetidas vezes a versão demo dele, por que eu achava que em algum momento, em um passe de mágica eu iria conseguir jogar todo o jogo kkkkk
A ambientação, a história de toda essa saga é simplesmente espetacular, não tenho palavras para descrever o quanto que foi surpreendente jogar ele depois de adulta e gostar dele mesmo assim

三部打包单价八元，这种以寻物为主的传统解谜游戏，建议直接最高专家难度上手，而且千万不要看攻略，否则实在是没有意思。
本作剧情承接前面两部，虽然老套好在尚属完整。谜题类型代代相传，个别线索物体隐藏较深。收藏要素增加到三个，鬼影羽毛虚无缥缈很难集齐。这部的画面音乐是为系列最佳，作为系列的收官之作总体来说还是合格的。

Bueno, con este se termina la trilogía, no me parece mal final, atando muchos cabos y enseñándote el origen de todo, y al final ver a nuestra detective cumplir su misión pues se siente bastante satisfactorio.

Tiene los puzzles visualmente mejor hechos de la saga, difíciles, pues diría que no, pero si son muy entretenidos la verdad.

Echaré de menos esta saga, de las mejores de Artifex, pero sigue sin superar a Abyss.

A nice conclusion to the series. Would I recommend this game? Yes. Do I also recognise that the story feels like a bit of an odd choice compared to Maple Creek and Ravenwood? Also yes. Was I entirely convinced that [spoiler] MC or Rick would end up being Raphael/Raphael's chosen, only to end up being in disbelief (and still is) when they weren't? Yep [/spoiler]. Which necessarily isn't something bad, just felt like a bit of an odd choice with the direction the story went. Regardless, I have thoroughly enjoyed the enigmatis series, and I feel like everything that might have been bothering me (looking at you, 3 different collectibles) is entirely made up by my boy RICK HAMILTON. Might happily suffer through 3 new perfectionist replays of all three games just for my boy. He can have my heart and my wallet.

The final chapter and conclusion to the Enigmatis storyline.

As I mentioned on my 2nd review, just like movies, the storylines start dwindling as they make more of them without the same love or passion as they did the first. That happened here too.

The story felt quite a bit distant from the last game, let alone the one from the first. That gloomy mystery scenario was no longer there and instead it was switched with some very bright, white snowy mountains. The story still has the same end goal which is [spoiler] get to the priest and destroy his evilness [/spoiler] but it feels detached from the gloomy mysterious atmosphere prevalent in the previous two.

Voice over and animations were much better than the previous two, but the game also came out later, so it had the benefits of better technology. It had "mini games" or mini events from time to time [spoiler] like climbing up a mountain [/spoiler] that added a little something to the game play but besides that the puzzles and hidden object scenes were pretty good. Not too hard, not too easy. The point and click elements were also good trying to solve and find items to know where to go or what to do next. [b] Easter egg [/b] Her car keys (I believe they were hers) had a key charm with the Artifex logo.

The one thing that bummed me out about game play was that the objects that are picked up along the way are not [i] as [/i] reusable as they used to be. Very few objects were reusable compared to previous games. It's something small, but that I really enjoyed in previous games.

All in all, I recommend the game and the whole series. It does have a full arc and a conclusion that doesn't leave you wanting. I'd say this is probably one of the best series in Artifex Mundi's library. Oh, and remember to play the bonus chapters!

Entrega final de la trilogia, la historia no esta tan detallada como en los juegos anteriores pero aun asi es un buen final para la historia. Me hubiera gustado algo mas de detalle, se siente algo superficial y con prisa, creo que en los otros dos juegos la ambientacion estaba mas trabajada.

Si tuviera que decir un punto que no me ha gustado nada es el puzzle de objeto oculto a dos pasos, yo lo dejaria en modo original, te hace perder tiempo. Ademas, hay bugs con los logros y no te reconoce el de maestro investigador y algun otro, aunque eso ya lo han comentado en el foro.

Una cosa que me ha encantado es Fang, no spoiler asi que jugad para descubrirlo.

Recomiendo esta trilogia en oferta si te gustan los HOG, en general es una historia muy bien contada y que hace que se te pasen las horas volando!

Pero no todo es tan amargo, sigue siendo ese vino que, en una noche oscura y solitaria, no puedes dejar de beber.

Si algo hay que aplaudirle a este juego es su capacidad de engancharte con una historia que parece sacada de un episodio rechazado de \Los Expedientes Secretos X\. La intensidad con la que intenta mantener al jugador en suspenso es digna de un Óscar a la Persistencia Dramática. Y hablando de drama, las escenas cinemáticas son algo que podría hacer que incluso a tu abuela le den ganas de agarrar el ratón.

Sin embargo, no todo lo que brilla es oro. La jugabilidad puede sentirse como rellenar un formulario burocrático, repetitiva y a veces demasiado predecible. 作为乌鸦三部曲的收官之作，演出和游戏性是系列之最，解密上总体适中，并极大改正了系列部分缺点，没有了初代只能一图图跑的冗长流程，中文也没有了初代的机翻，对比二代增加了第一人称视角的演出和小游戏，增添了沉静感，发扬了系列优点，加强了不少游戏体验
剧情上依然算是差强人意，作为侦探的女主依然面对明显有问题的第三人带着自我降智的debuff，胜在剧本格局，完善了三部曲设定，完结了三部曲的故事，同时游戏角色都各自达成了自己的目的，多赢！

总体上瑕不掩瑜，是非常推荐给解密爱好者的游戏

Last but not least, 3rd part of the enigmatis trilogy, and I'm a big fan (again :D)
I enjoyed the this last part for another 6 hours in total playtime and again I had a lot of fun! You definetly notice the slight difference in gameplay the devs have made over the years. In this part you're able to put things together, which adds even more thinking into the whole game. Overall it's another great, sadly last, part of the enigmatis series. Beautiful art, great sounds and music. I recommend!
