This game feels like a superintelligent four dimensional creature read the novel "Flatland" and then tried to make a Sokoban clone while being on an LSD trip. If you like very challenging abstract logic puzzles with deceptively simple rules, this is going to be a real treat, and more than worth its price.

[b]Context[/b] English Country Tune is a an abstract 3D obstacle puzzle game with a surreal tone. It looks rough and throws seemingly crazy mechanics at you. But somehow it all just clicks, thanks largely to cleverly designed levels (not surprising, as this is from the creator of [url=https://steamcommunity.com/id/macwh/recommended/353540/]Stephen’s Sausage Roll[/url]).
[b]Writing[/b] There is none, the game is entirely abstract. The most narrative you’ll get is cryptic world names that invite you to hallucinate square things as “whales,” floating orbs as “larvae,” and other shapes as “plants.”
[b]Aesthetics[/b] Although the are visuals minimal and abstract, the has a surreal and sightly tense atmosphere promoted by the jittery visuals and droning ambient soundtrack (even the world hub and level selection feel unhinged).
[b]Gameplay[/b] At its core this is an obstacle pushing game in a 3D grid. A 3D sokoban-style game can already be challenging, but here each world introduces additional mechanics, some of which mind-bending. For instance, you start pushing “larvae” that fall based on the direction of your movement; then you push “whales”, non-falling obstacles with an interactible area that extends infinitely; soon enough you’re using “w”hales to move “larvae”, where the “larvae” fall depending on how you pushed the “whale”.
Honestly, this had all the potential for a frustrating experience, but it ends up being intuitive. I can only explain this with the level design, which is clever without being punishing. In fact, the game actually leans to the “easy” side of the spectrum (once you wrap your head around the mechanics). Levels are bite-sized (and that you can undo indefinitely, including through resets). It also doesn’t get boring, since each world introduces a different mechanic. If I had to point a flaw it would be the the fixed camera that sometimes obscures important parts of the level.
You can fail levels and enter deadlocks, but you can just reset the level without penalty. The game autosaves progress but not the individual puzzle state.
[b]Value[/b] It took me about 10h to beat the ~100 levels spread across ~15 worlds. Worlds and levels unlock as you progress, and although not completely linear, often only a couple are open at a time. You can always revisit previous levels. There are no achievements or extras.

不得不说，在逻辑解谜设计逐渐有了成熟的“指导方针”的现在（有一部分还是作者自己的《SSR》奠的基），再来看这样一部如此“不羁”的作品，高情商的说法是“有种历史的厚重感”，低情商的说法是：“啥呀这是？”，有一种虽然疯癫，但疯得还挺有逻辑的美。但说实在话，如果真的了解[url=https://www.increpare.com/]increpare的作品[/url]，你就会知道他的“癫”早就不是一天两天了，《SSR》可能都属于他最“正常”的作品了，而就算是这款作品，其“偏激”的难度曲线至今也仍在被人讨论。
还有一个和游戏本身无关，但是让我感觉很有趣的点，在于本作的制作人员表，里面的测试玩家名单里有很多现在的我再熟悉不过的名字：Alan Hazelden、Bennett Foddy、Terry Cavanagh、Hempuli......其中有些人在当年（2011年）就已声名鹊起，而有些则只是小有成绩，要在几年之后才更广为人知，但不管怎么说都全是重量级人物。这里我就不列举他们的代表作品了，感兴趣的话可以查一下，相信你查完后一定会认同我“全是重量级”的评价。
最终，我没有100%完成本作的所有谜题，因为我并不是完全喜欢本作中的所有机制，但不管怎么说，这真的是一次挺独特的“时间旅行”。虽然在今天看来，本作真的很奇特和抽象，谜题整体来说也不是都很有意思，但我觉得能把这些抽象机制的组合出成谜题就已经很不错了。如果感兴趣，不妨一试。

This game is one of those games I've had sitting in my library for ages that I probably picked up from some bundle I got for one or two specific games in the past. The name tells you absolutely nothing about the game so I kinda just ignored it forever in favor of other things over the years. But I was bored recently and decided to pick a random game from my library to check out and so I gave this a try. What I ultimately have to say is that this game is awesome. Kinda feels like a variety pack of sokoban games with different mechanics. It never sticks to one idea for too long before throwing you into a new concept, so you generally tend to feel refreshed when it happens. This is a very solid game, though and definitely worth its asking price as long as you're into this kinda thing.
Every once in a while I try this game out when I am in the mood for a relaxing puzzle game, but I always start feeling motion sick after a few minutes. The camera ranges from annoying to nauseating in a way that prevents me from making significant progress despite the puzzles themselves seeming well thought out.
Nice Sokoban 3D puzzles, but the interface is terrible. It won't even marked finished puzzles as finished, you have to guess where you are and what's next.
There are better alternatives.

Hidden gem of a puzzle game that's wormed its way into my head. I just finished Stephen's Sausage Roll, was craving more difficult puzzle games, and saw this as increpare's other game. While at the height of playing SSR, I'd be distracted in my day to day life, rolling sausages around in my head as I talked to people. This game has achieved a similar Tetris effect in that since I started I can't stop rotating shapes and moving rectangles in my head. When I'm stuck on a puzzle I'll play it in my head as I go to sleep and on one occasion have had to get out of bed because the solution came to me.
A very unique puzzler that challenges your 3D spatial awareness. The highlight for me is the two levels where Stephen asks the player to create his own level such that a solution is achievable. But now that he has shown his cards that there is a level editor, we the people demand a user created level feature!
I can't think of anything to say so I didn't say anything.
It's a great game. I had a great time playing it, each puzzle is a satisfying and fun challenge.

A great puzzle game. Not as challenging as I was expecting, but still pretty difficult
I've had this on the back burner for years, as I think I got it with a Humble Bundle for cheap with some other games I wanted more. I'm glad I took the time to finally play this.
The puzzles are challenging, some more so than others. I would consider myself a strong "puzzler", and some of them I got through quickly while others took time, and even in a few instances I had to look up the solution after trying for a while with no idea how to proceed. In any case, if you make a mistake you can either start from the beginning by backing out of the area and restarting it, or you can press the Z key to undo one move at a time if you are on the right track but make a short series of mistakes.
You need good 3D spatial awareness to make it through all puzzles, and there were a few that I skipped because the camera is too restrictive and I found it frustrating. The camera will automatically center on the player and rotate as you rotate your movement piece. There are a small number of puzzles where a different camera would have worked better. In the most complex 3D levels I encountered, a fixed camera that could be moved totally independently of the player piece would have been ideal as the existing camera was constantly changing the viewing axis and rotation with every move or every other move. For a few of the "2D" levels (because the whole level is on a plane), turning off the camera rotation would have been better since it's not helpful. Overall, I only encountered camera frustrations on <5 levels, so not a deal breaker.
This game is graphically simple, but it doesn't need to be more complex, as it is a satisfying challenge of a puzzle game and more detailed graphics may have distracted from what it was trying to accomplish. It provided me >10 hours of game play for a base price of $5, which I think is a steal. Definitely recommend if you want a good puzzle experience.

Гра поділена на 17 світів, кожен з яких має певну мету або унікальну механіку, всі з яких у результаті кульмінують у рівнях Freestyle, які без обмежень використовують усі наявні у грі фічі. Дизайн рівнів у грі виконаний на дуже гарному рівні. Деякі рівні є доволі простими та проходяться за хвилину, а деякі можуть зайняти значно більше часу за рахунок дуже кмітливих рішень. Іноді може здаватися, що деяким поодиноким рівням не вистачає пропрацьованності, деяким — елегантності, але загалом якість дуже і дуже висока.
Як висока і складність гри, оскільки окрім доволі складних механік, вона активно задіює маніпуляцію з 3Д-простором, що може стати складністю для пересічного гравця. Втім, у мене не було рівнів, про які я думав днями, тому я обмежуся словами "складно", а не "на межі неможливого".
Акомпанують чудовому дизайну головоломок абстрактний візуал та чаруюча, а іноді навіть тривожна, музика. У грі навіть є свій прихований лор — хто ж знав, що насправді ми штовхаємо не кульки, а внеземних істот, що пусті куби то інкубатори, та що рівні це космічні кораблі?
Від гри я отримав дуже багато задоволення, значно більше, ніж я взагалі очікував. Але я знав, на що йду — у майбутньому розробник English Country Tune створив інший стовп у жанрі сокобанів — Stephen's Sausage Roll, який я теж паралельно проходжу.
English Country Tune — справжній шедевр у жанрі головоломок, який варто пройти кожному, але обережно — можливо, до неї треба буде підготуватися у інших, більш доброзичливих у плані складності іграх. А може й ні, якщо ви впевнені у собі.

While [B]increpare games[/B] only has three products listed on Steam, the person behind the name, Stephen Lavelle is (in)famous for his creativity and his volume of output. According to Wikipedia, he has released more than 400 games, mostly freeware - and three commercial games; [B]English country tune[/B] is the first of the three.
Apparently, Stephen has heard about the idea of gentle introduction to difficult puzzles, and the first three levels look like a stylish but slightly weird (the protagonist is a flat square) Sokoban-clone. Then maybe he thought "let's not overdo gentle", and level 4 hits you with two of the game's landmark features - the 3D movement and the relative gravity.
Regarding the movement, the game seemingly effortlessly translates the two axes (up/down and left/right) into the three "real" axes - such a solution should have no right to work, but it actually does, and very well. It's possible to get yourself confused and misnavigate, but due to the unlimited undo and the (almost) complete lack of timing needed in the game, it's never an issue.
The relative gravity is... weird. Your first creature (crate in Sokoban), the Larva is not affected by real gravity, but when you push it, it will behave as if it was, and the direction of the gravity is relative to the direction of the push... I mean, who can come up with such an idea? :D As you're in real 3D, this means a Larva that hopelessly falls out of the world when pushed in one direction may move easily to safety when pushed from another. I have to admit, even after finishing the game, I can't say I 100% wrapped my mind around the idea, but the puzzle design implications are just awesome.
Moving forward, the game introduces more creatures and more mechanics, and as you could expect, it's rich in "a-ha" moments - although in [B]English country tune[/B], these are more like "wtf" moments, "holy s**t this is brilliant" moments and "oh my god this guy is insane" moments :D
As much as I love the game for its cool visual design and its (mostly) amazing puzzles, I can't say it's without flaws. While the controls are brilliant and the automatic camera usually does a great job, it sometimes doesn't, and you cannot freely choose your viewpoint - you can yank the camera around, but it always returns to its default position. Also, some of the puzzles feel a bit stale, and there are a few which feel downright silly (I took a particular dislike to the Resonator ones, but ymmv).
However, faults or not, [B]English country tune[/B] is a very ambitious game which is almost fully successful in reaching its rather high targets. The creator is a puzzle making genius, but it's also obvious from the game that he spent a lot of time tuning and refining the puzzles, and most of them present you with fresh and unique challenges. It's a hard game, rather unforgiving at times, you need to dedicate time and attention to it - but when you do, it's one of the most rewarding experience in the already pretty rich indie puzzle scene. Highly recommended.

Coming to this after enjoying (but not completing) Steven's Sausage Roll, I was very happy. The levels here are also hard, but generally speaking I didn't find them as difficult as the ones in SSR. At the very least, I was able to complete all of them here, eventually. Much like SSR, the mechanics are generally fairly straightforward, but thoroughly explored in order to truly test your understanding of the mechanic and logical deduction skills. So this is a great game if you really like having to think things through, figure out how mechanics interact, and generally figure out what's required of you. It's pure expert-level 3D puzzle design.
The puzzle 'Half Sided' will melt your mind.

It's pretty similar to a game inside the arcade hub Fancade from Martin Magni, called This Side Up by LukaszM. I myself made some difficult custom levels for that game! Edit: I only touched the tip of the iceberg: the twisted sokoban is actually just one of many different tile-based 3D puzzle games waiting for you and further for each their are combinations with the other games! Very recommended! All over not too difficult as the unlimited undo button is a big relieve.
Edit2; I take back "not too difficult" and replace it with "gets really difficult and mindboggling". [i]Half-Sided[/i] level set gives you one mechanic and lets you choose everything else in a level editor, how the 3D blocks are placed and where you start. This mode has so many possible options that it gets really hard to find the solution.
A game for masochistic maniac puzzlers. Thankfully I am at least one of those things.
Very interesting puzzle game. Some puzzles/levels will take you 40 seconds and others could take you 3 days. The game would consistently have me cruising through and then I'd stumble upon a world with a puzzle that I instantly understood would destroy me. This reminds me of a geometric logic puzzles you might find in a college class or on youtube, just in the form of a puzzle game, which is a really cool way to present it. Very minimal game but I never felt like I couldn't understand what was going on. Some are REALLY clever- there's some unexpected unique puzzles in here that I've never seen in a puzzle game before. If you aren't a puzzle legend I'd recommend allowing yourself to check a guide if you get stuck for too long though. I'll concede that, due to not having too much free time and not being a logic god, I used some guides for hints/finding the next step when I was totally messed up by the game. I still found it really enjoyable and it helped me step into doing a lot of these very independently. Overall, I liked the presentation, puzzles, and atmosphere, and I think this is a good game for those who like weird games and are partially/completely insane
Despite its age (coming on 13 years !), this game stays very much relevant. The puzzles are challenging, and the game features many mechanics that are revealed as you progress. The simple appearance of the game is nicely counterbalanced with difficult and original puzzles. In short, this game is everything but boring.
Progression in this game is not linear, although there are choke points that can become somewhat frustrating. I found that taking a break and coming back to them was generally all it took to solve them.
Ever since discovering this game by chance, I've been coming back to it regularly, taking on a few levels at a time. At 5€, this is a bargain.

This game is just perfect at what it does. Hard puzzles with varying simple mechanics. The visuals and sound are quite basic, but are good enough to capture the player and keep you focused on the puzzle. Works well on deck too.
After the first world tutorial each new stage is a challenge in itself. The 3D advance whale made my head spin. You need to be patient and methodical as the game is arduous.

I got this for a dollar and it works fine on Steam Deck, and there's nothing wrong wrong in particular but overall it's not something I would recommend. Some of the puzzles are good but a few of the mechanics aren't intuitive enough to be presented without instruction. I was surprised at the level where the solution is to make a swastika though. Also not sure what the game title means since there is no music.

Beat it, decent puzzle game. I kind of wish it spent more time on a few core mechanics than introducing new ones every world or two, though.
My brain bluescreens if I try to play this for more than 30 minutes at a time, but I keep coming back for more.
Some very good puzzles if that's your thing. Gets a little tedious after a short time, but good to kill some time here and there and get your wheels turning.
English Country Tune is a puzzle game inspired by Sokoban, at least initially. Where that name comes from, I have no idea.
The core gameplay consists of moving a square around a grid, with the ability to push objects. During the first levels, you must push objects to the correct locations, similar to Sokoban.
However, the game greatly expands on this core mechanic. Most levels are actually played in a 3D space, which adds more complexity while also requiring spatial awareness. Not only that, but new mechanics get gradually introduced in each world, adding new ways your square can interact with the environment and adding a ton of diversity.
The level design is great and clever, but this isn’t an easy game. It’s quite challenging actually. Despite some basic explanations, some mechanics aren’t easy to figure out and will require some trial and error at first. The first levels of each world are usually easy and are designed to make sure you learn and understand the necessary mechanics before throwing you the real, tough levels.
It has 100+ levels, which is a lot of content. Lacking achievements is a letdown though. I can recommend this on sale if you’re a fan on puzzle games.
This game is tough, and there's no plot or anything like that to motivate you. But these puzzles are tricky and satisfying.
J'ai été agréablement surpris par English Country Tune. C'est un jeu d'énigmes minimaliste où l'on incarne une sorte de plaque qui, lors d'un déplacement dans la direction désirée, se retourne sur elle même, ce qui a pour effet de pouvoir pousser divers éléments, et nous permet aussi de grimper aux murs. Une bonne partie du jeu est basée sur un concept de sokoban-like, mais ce n'est pas tout. Il y a d'autres mécaniques très sympas qui sont bien exploitées, sans partir dans des délires infaisables. C'est le genre de jeu de puzzle où je ressens une satisfaction en trouvant la solution au problème. Je trouve qu'il n'est pas du style de ceux où il faut recommencer 150 fois une énigme jusqu'à ce que ça passe et qu'on a pas vraiment compris la subtilité.
ATTENTION !!! Ce jeu, de part sa physique inhabituelle, et sa caméra déroutante, est susceptible de rebuter de nombreuses personnes. En vrai, la physique n'est pas trop dur à appréhender, qui plus est, le jeu se jouant au tour par tour, on peut revenir en arrière an appuyant sur "Z", donc ça ce gère, en revanche, la caméra se déplace à chacun de nos mouvements de manière inhabituelle, et bien que l'on puisse la contrôler afin d'observer notre environnement sous tous les angles, celle-ci revient à sa position initiale lorsqu'il nous faut nous déplacer, et on peut se retrouver avec des angles bien chelous.
Graphiquement, on va pas se le cacher, même si le jeu nous propose lors du lancement, de le configurer en fantastic, faut pas s'attendre à de la folie. C'est des cubes et des ronds quoi ! Il y a des petits points gris/noirs en fond qui m'ont fait penser à des moucherons. Pour ma part, je n'ai pas trouvé ça désagréable.
Niveau sonore, on a un genre de musique d'ambiance que j'ai trouvée moyenne. Parfois au début de certains niveaux, il y a des sortes de petites intros un peu stylées asiatique selon moi. Les bruitages sont classiques et font le taf.
Pour ce qui est du gameplay, on a un peu de déjà vu, mais comme je l'ai dit, les mécaniques sont bien exploitées, et rapport à cette caméra étrange, il n'est pas toujours intuitif de se diriger dans la direction souhaitée. De manière générale, les niveaux sont progressifs dans leur difficulté, sauf à mon avis dans le chapitre nommé "Half sided", où, dès le premier niveau, on se retrouve avec deux nouveaux concepts et qu'on a pour indice un truc du genre : "Fini le niveau". Merci ! J'y avais pas penser. Pour le coup comme je ne savais pas quel était le but, il paraissait difficile d'en venir à bout, alors je suis allez voir sur le net ce qu'il fallait faire. Pour ceux qui sont intéressés, je vais spoiler le principe de cette énigme : [spoiler] Le but est de créer nous même un niveau en juxtaposant des cubes, à la suite de quoi, il faudra placer le point de départ de notre plaque et compléter le niveau à la manière du chapitre "Culting", sachant que notre plaque ne plantera des "arbres" qu'un mouvement sur deux. Sinon, le jeu n'est pas insurmontable. La difficulté est bien dosée, même si certains puzzles sont vraiment faciles. Remarque, il m'est arrivé plusieurs fois de buter sur des trucs pas très compliqués, mais il fallait y penser.
Le jeu a bien tourné sous Windows 10, et je n'ai pas remarqué de bugs spécialement gênants.
Je recommande English Country Tune à ceux qui cherchent un puzzle game inhabituel. Les casus devraient plutôt passer leur chemin. Si vous parvenez à franchir le cap de cette caméra déroutante, le jeu à de quoi vous offrir de belles heures de réflexion. Bien qu'il n'y ai aucun succès, j'ai tout de même trouvé ce jeu gratifiant. Pour ma part, j'ai tout de suite kiffé, et il m'a très vite donné envie de le continuer jusqu'au bout. Une expérience que je ne regrette pas.

A challenging puzzle game that doesn't really do much else. If you enjoy interesting puzzles that require a lot of spatial awareness with compounding mechanics you will like this. I am not a big puzzle guy, and most of my hours are because I fell asleep while playing. 6.1/10

Only play it if you're a hardcore puzzle fan. This game is weird, difficult to apprehend and has a questionnable camera.
It has its flaws but the puzzles are varied and interesting.
Never gotten this much... "experience" out of a game before, highly recommended.
I agree with the bulk of the reviews already here. The game starts solid, but gets to a point where it introduces new mechanics that don't feel as well explored as they could have been. It also doesn't help that this game requires you to have a really good spacial understanding, but gives you a poor camera that you can't really control.
Also, one of the levels has a swastika in it for some reason??? Seems like a weird choice to me, but maybe I'm over-reacting. My best guess is that the game dev was trying to reclaim the symbol (it has good meanings in Asian cultures), but it's hard to gauge their intentions.

English Country Tune is a 3d Sokoban-style abstract puzzle game. Beat it in 11 hours (I cheated and looked at youtube for a few levels) using a keyboard. Difficulty is very hard.
- Game mechanics are there. They work. You are a square that moves around, pushing blocks with light, rolling balls around, making cube planty-bits grow, and more.
- Directions are explained so loosely they'll become untied every once in a while and leave you to trip up. I got lost far more than once because I was unable to figure out what to do even after being told in the most point blank of ways what to do. After solving the puzzle the directions make sense, but getting there will stump you all over the place.
- Puzzles, themselves, are considerably clever and actually really, really good. Holy cow are they high tier good.
- Graphics and Music remind me of games on the PS1. I was so intrigued I looked it up, thinking this was a port. Nope, originally came out for steam in 2011. But both the graphics and music do a good job.
- Menu is unfortunate. I really liked the way it looked and moved around, and the 'world' orbs are given simple enough titles, but outside of that the levels aren't given any titles or numbers, there's no way to tell what worlds you've completed from worlds you haven't, and organization is lacking.
- The name of the game is also unfortunate and probably why it went under the radar for me for so long. The title has nothing to do with the game, and isn't the most memorable. With the screenshots I originally thought it was a marble-rolling gravity-type tipping game.
- There are no guides for the community forum that helped, but there are walkthrough videos on youtube that help.
** Motion Sickness Warning - Didn't have a problem for most of the game. The levels moved around a central axis and reminded me of holding and moving a Rubix cube around in my hands. That said, a few of the more complex levels combined with weird camera movement/angles can leave you off-kilter or with a headache. Took breaks, didn't have to take ginger.
- There's also no EndGame or Capper. Once you beat all the levels there's 0 fanfare. There are no 'You win!' achievements. You're just left staring at a bunch of colorful orbs. That's it? No more? Oh... well... Okay.
English Country Tune is a genius-level puzzle game that suffers from bad marketing and vagueness. It's sometimes too high-level complex for its own good, leaving the player scratching their head and unsure wtf they're supposed to be doing, while also so genuinely creative that you feel real achievement when you do figure out what to do. The way the levels are organized is lacking. The directions are unfortunately bare bones, and the whole game could've done better if the explanations, alone, had been improved. You go from normal gameplay to seeing an open grid with one block and tools to create your own level. I'm supposed to do What??? .......... You mess around aimlessly and get nowhere. You get frustrated. You check Youtube. Oh. Right. Ok, that makes sense. If you get frustrated easily and want to enjoy a simple puzzle game, this is not the game for you. If you want to really push your brain and analytical skills, this is an awesome game.
Increpare is really good at making minimalistic games and this one is no exception. It's somewhat hard though, you'll wish it had achievements so you could flex after beating it.

It's a really difficult main mechanic to parse and fully comprehend, but the game doesn't force you to know how to approach the main mechanic in every way early on, which is just great design and avoids burning out on the mechanic until the game is already introducing a new (kind of easier or at least simpler) mechanic in conjunction with an existing one and completely change things.
You may dislike that you rarely can continue solving other puzzles if one stumps you. You have the option between 2 worlds, and then 1-2 level options within each world, and new worlds won't unlock until you beat both worlds. So one level may stop all your progress, and there are no hints.
Has an undo and restart button, and you can undo your restarts. Very important features to have for any sokoban (of which this is the most complicated 3D sokoban I've ever seen).
Levels are sometimes monotonous to execute the solution but more often they aren't so I don't mind it too much. A couple levels' only difficulty is in being unable to see the thing you need to solve, which I dislike but at least it's rare.
And I'll emphasize that the puzzles are very good and typically tricky.

This is one of the best puzzle games I've played. I have it in my personal top 10 puzzle games, arguably top 5, just behind Baba Is You, Stephen's Sausage Roll, Snakebird, Fish Fillets 2 (old Sokoban-style game that no one talks about, but despite the relatively simple mechanics, its puzzles I find are even more difficult than the ones in the previous 3 games, and all of them are hardcore puzzle games!) in that order.
Speaking of Stephen's Sausage Roll, English Country Tune is actually an earlier game made by the same developer. While SSR has a clear theme and has grounded mechanics that are visually congruent with it, ECT is more of an abstract game, which means the mechanics don't need to be based on a central theme, thus allowing the developer to be more creative with them, and he certainly delivered! These are some of the wackiest and most ingenious puzzles I've encountered, and they make plenty of use of the third dimension. With that said, I still prefer SSR due to the puzzles being more thematic, while still being noticeably more challenging despite the relatively simple mechanics, but ECT is still a great puzzle game, nonetheless.
This can be considered a Sokoban-style game with many of the levels in 3D. Your character is pretty much a flat, square tile that is able to cling to walls in the form of cubes stuck together in the game, whichever direction they're facing, and you move by flipping yourself about in any of the four orthogonal directions. The manner in which you move is crucial to how you solve the puzzles. There are various mechanics in the game, each mechanic usually introduced in a separate 'world' (basically what a chapter is called in this game), and most of the more advanced levels combine several mechanics together. Since this is a fairly abstract game, the mechanics don't really have anything in common with each other, and they really lead to some mind-bending puzzles!
However, as much as I enjoyed the game, I did have one big issue with it when I first started playing, and that is the ever-changing camera angles, which isn't a surprise given that you're constantly changing planes due to many of the puzzles involving the third dimension. The camera adjusts itself automatically as you move, and it doesn't always do so in a manner that is convenient to you. You can rotate the camera manually by holding the shift-key and pressing the arrow keys, but you are unable to move your character while doing so, since movement is done by the arrow keys as well, and letting go of the shift-key restores the camera to its default state. On top of that, the orientation of your movement controls changes as well as you switch planes, which makes sense due to the ever-changing camera angles, but it doesn't always do it in an intuitive way, though I guess there's no way for it to change in an objectively intuitive manner, since our brains are all wired differently. This change in movement means you're likely to make an unintended move, which means you would be hitting the undo button quite frequently, especially when you first start playing. This is a complaint shared by many players, it seems, though I did get the hang of it towards the end of the game.
Apart from that, there was another issue I found with the game, albeit a more minor one that doesn't have anything to do with gameplay, and that is the level-select UI. The 'world-select' screen is ok, as even though the worlds just appear as different coloured orbs joined together by branches in a network formation, similar to 3D models of molecules, each world has its own name which is displayed whenever a world is highlighted. However, in the level-select screen you see after selecting a world, you see a network of orbs similar to the world-select screen, except that these orbs are transparent, and inside them contains a silhouette of the layout of the given level, which doesn't really help much given how wacky the levels are, and silhouettes barely tell you anything about the level. This might not sound too bad, but the thing is, these levels have no names! They don't even have level numbers, so it's next to impossible to search up a single level online, which is why most walkthroughs available are done in terms of worlds, though some players do give the levels arbitrary numbers as labels. This is a real shame considering how brilliantly the levels are designed, but the level-select UI makes it very hard to tell which level is which, and their lack of names means I can't really just search up a level that I like when I want to read stuff about it or see other players attempt it.
On top of that, there is a couple of levels that are markedly different from the rest in the game, and they don't really tell you much on what you need to do, so I can definitely see some players getting confused there, though the puzzles themselves aren't that hard to solve. This is more of a nitpick, though.
All in all, I give English Country Tune a solid 8 out of 10, and I would have rated it higher if not for the trouble I had with the camera angles, perhaps an 8.5, or even a 9. It took me 15 hours to complete, and that is 15 hours well spent. On top of that, the game is extremely cheap for its quality, so definitely give it a go if you like puzzle games!

Controller configuration doesn't work using an Xbox One controller. It works in game however to a degree. But the mapping is all messed up and the game becomes really hard to play.
The puzzles seemed ok, but the basic idea has been done many times over. Move one thing to a spot giving you limited optons to do so due to either spacial complexity or blocking paths.

근본적으로는 “고정관념”을 깨는게 진짜 어렵다.
고정관념을 깨고 최대한 다양한 Case를 생각해야 하는 게임이다.
또한 스테이지마다 규칙이 매번 다르다.
짧은 퍼즐 게임을 여러개 합쳐놓은 합본같은 느낌.
그런데 규칙마다 난이도의 편차가 큰건 너무 아쉽다.
About 100 excellent 3D/4D puzzles that really make you feel smart when you solve them. However, I think that the levels that require the player to design the puzzles themselves (Half Sided, Lesson) were a bridge too far. Also, nice ambient background music.
A push blocks game like other push blocks game where you better push blocks in the exact proper order or you can no longer win. Has an undo move button which can be pressed multiple times. The 2D levels are at least playable. The 3D levels are awful.
Whilst an interesting concept, the implementation of this game leaves a lot to be desired. At least in the early levels. The controls are cumbersome, and the logic of the "physics" is tenuous at best. There is no sense of satisfaction in having completed a level; rather a head-scratching wondering why it worked the way it did in that instance whereas it seemed to work differently coming at the problem from a different angle.
