An interesting game, with a few caveats

Let's get the bad out of the way first -- the game will crash, a lot. At least until you put in some launch options that users on the discussion boards have come up with. As far as I read, this is an issue with unreal games compiled before a certain date, and since the studio is no longer around it's not gonna get a recompile. It's a pretty easy fix, but worth knowing about regardless. The game also starts slow, almost painfully so. I don't really have anything against walking sims, but that's what the first hour of the game felt closest to, and it doesn't really feel well suited to the genre of game this is. It builds atmosphere and tension I guess, but I think it's better for a game, especially an indie, to get the hooks of its gameplay into you sooner, even moreso when that's what it's mainly sold on. There are a few other things, like the running not feeling great, enemies that will chain-grab you, etc., but that's starting to get into territory that feels nitpicky, and it's far from the worst offender you could find in any of these.

As for the good, the voice performances were fairly gripping and well written. I was always engaged by them, with an interesting dynamic between the main characters and conversations that hinted at an interesting broader world. Even for a game that's nearly a decade old (Oh god) the environments look great, absolutely nailing the vibe of an opulent megastructure. They can feel a bit samey at times, with the level design not feeling completely natural to find your way through, though I suspect that's exactly how it's supposed to feel. It's not a real space meant to be inhabited, it's some farcical imitation of one. Lastly, the idea of your enemies learning from you is the best implementation I've seen of the idea. If you're paying attention, it's always clear when your actions have triggered learning, and when the enemies will start and stop using the things they've learned from you. Having these clearly defined rules for how the learning works makes it easy to strategize around it, rather than having a black box that learns from you where there's the novelty of something learning from you without necessarily giving the strategic depth that this brings. If you don't want your enemies to run, don't run. If you don't want them to shoot, don't shoot. These are tools you can bring out when you need them, but how clear the consequences are always allows you to make interesting and informed decisions about when and where to let the enemy learn something new.

All in all, I think it's definitely worth playing for its interesting ideas and good presentation, so long as you're willing to forum sleuth a bit to find the necessary launch options.

Самая интересная механика в игре — это система обучения врагов. Всё, что вы делаете при включённом свете (бегаете, стреляете, прыгаете, используете укрытия), копии запоминают и начинают делать то же самое. Поэтому иногда приходится специально играть осторожно, чтобы не дать врагам новые способности. Это делает игру очень напряжённой и заставляет думать над каждым действием.

Отдельно стоит отметить атмосферу: огромные залы, футуристический дворец, отличная музыка и чувство одиночества. Визуальный стиль игры выглядит красиво и необычно даже спустя годы.

Но у игры есть и минусы. Со временем локации могут казаться немного однообразными, а враги — слишком похожими друг на друга. Иногда игра немного затягивается, потому что механика одна и та же на протяжении всей кампании.

I'm sad and baffled at the same time why this game hasn't become a success.
It's a mystery filled sci-fi thriller story-based game, where you constantly wonder what went wrong, why and how is this all happening. Especially the introductory chapter where things start to ramp up, you get to know more and more about the world, and your current predicament, it's really fascinating. I would have loved to see more games in this world this team built.
It also looks gorgeous, not necessarily graphically - though for a game from 2017, I think it looks more than allright - but the design of the Palace and the whole game is breathtakingly beautiful.
Gameplay-wise it is structured around Blackouts which happen at regular intervals. Between these intervals you can do a lot of things, like run, crouch, jump, vault over obstacles, open or close a door, shoot or strangle an enemy, or even play an instrument. But be prepared, because whatever you do, the enemies will be capable of doing that too after the next Blackout. This adaptive enemy design adds so much to this game, that I can forget about stiff animations or rudimentary stealth mechanics altogether.
It's not yout usual stealth game, you have to think twice about what you dare to do to your enemies. Never have I ever had a game where the enemy NPC sneaked up on me from behind and choked me out. Never even heard her coming!
I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Важное но, ставьте локализацию сразу
Потому что тут есть некое повествование, по ходу дела которое будет раскрывать и мотивы и сюжет и вообще что там происходит

Касательно гемплея, ты сам даёшь игре поводы тебя загасить)

Как только встречаешь "противников" игра становится сложнее. Причём в разы.
А где-то под конец, встречаешь противников противников, и тогда начинается жoпa.

Прекл начала, когда только начинаешь впитывать гемплей.
Прошел по водичке, а клоны не могли, всё, теперь и они могут воду перейти.
Перепрыгнул препятствие, и они теперь могут.
Выстрелил в клона, и они теперь тоже это могут(только уже в тебя).
Открыл дверь? Заюзал лифт? Активировал мост? готово.

Думаю суть донёс.

Интересная механика на самом деле, но крайне жадная для выстрелов.
И особенно неприятная что после светового цикла всё обнуляется... Смысле клоны ресаются.
А заряды на выстрел нет. Вот за это сразу жирный минус.

Что за световой цикл? спросишь ты, а всё просто, пока свет включён, всё что ты делаешь, именно действия, лока это запоминает, потом свет выключается, некоторое время тусишь в темноте, это типа промежуток когда можно делать что хочешь, потом экран темнеет а после включается.
Так начинается следующий световой цикл.
И на следующем цикле клоны будут уметь то что делал ты в прошлом цикле.

А так же незабываем что ресаются клоны спокойно. Имеется ввиду, вот хлопнул ты клона. Свет моргнул. И если тебе повезло, то респ этого клона будет прям рядом с тобой. А он уже живой, а заряд на выстрел ты потратил, а у него случайно появилось желание втащить тебе..
И ладно одношотные клоны, там же под конец появятся золотые красавчики, что впитывают по три выстрела.
И они так же не исключение, что после светового цикла и учится будут твоим фичам, и ресаться.
Хотя эти ненормальные, и клонов прикладывают головой об пол и тебя. Короче под конец будет потненько.

Просторные помещения и коридоры, массивные колонны, внушительные двери с красивой анимацией
Локи в целом красивые, мрамор, золото и зелёное что-то(наверное ифрит, хз), но красивое, мне понравилось
Музыка средненькая, думаю можно было и по лучше.

Но опять же, визуал тут просто чумовой, от прилёта на планету, до финальных локаций, всё выглядит красиво.
В общении гг и ИИ корабля на котором она прилетела, можно услышать интересные диалоги(Если поставили локализацию), игруля 2017 года если верить стиму, а там поднимаются темы кратко проходящие по ИИ но думаю там красиво высказались по этой тематике.

Если подвести итоги, то игра не для каждого, она сложна, и кстати касательно сложности, под конец когда будет очень потно и ты через энное время сможешь завершишь игру, она тебе предложит пройти её на ещё большей сложности....
Лично мне хватило этого трая. Больше я не хочу это трогать.

Я давненько скачивал её на торренте, играл. Доходил до 1\3 и сыпался. Потому что сложно уже почти сразу становится.
Второй раз пытался, и опять же дропнул там же.
Но спустя года, таки решил её завершить, потому что было интересно чем всё кончится, и что там по итогу выйдет.

Концовка кста, такая себе, даже разочаровывающее, после всего увиденного и услышанного, ожидал чего-то по эпичнее чем то что получилось

A hidden gem with peak sci-fi themes, gorgeous art direction and stealth-puzzle gameplay that hints at feeling like a quasi-roguelike.

It can become challenging and takes a bit for the gameplay design to really click with you, but once it does, it becomes obvious what you were doing right or wrong in your last "run" (blackouts which are part of the story) can be adjusted by carefully choosing when to perform an action or choosing not to.

Even with its challenging gameplay, this is absolutely recommended to any sci-fi enthusiast. Just expect to become frustrated in a few spots with how the game adjusts to counter your play style. Take a moment, step away for a bit, then come back to try a different approach or path. The brain-tingling journey is worth it.

I really liked what was here, but if ECHO had a little more time in the oven I think it could have been a legit masterpiece. As it stands though this game's audio and art direction are outstanding and immerse you in this extravagant but horrifying planet. There's not a ton of visual variety between locations but each level's layout is so distinct that most of them still stand out in my memory.

This game has such an amazing core gameplay concept that I'm shocked I haven't seen another developer steal it. The palace operates on 1-2 minute cycles, where any actions you take in the time between blackouts will be learned by enemies and used by them on the next cycle. If you have to sprint away and fire your gun to survive, then expect all the enemies to be running around popping off random shots on the next cycle. You really have to choose your actions carefully because it's almost always something you've done that will get you killed. It also does a great job of turning everything on its head in the last chapter which I'm always a fan of. That said, the actual combat and character animations definitely could have used some refining to bring them up to the standard of everything else.

My personal biggest problem with this game is that London (the AI who you talk to over radio) is such a ♥♥♥♥. He's nothing but hostile toward you the whole time and whenever he started talking I just wanted him to shut. UP.

Вот жаль, искренне жаль что больше от этих людей не будет, потому что эта игра хороша. Не идеальна, так как она на протяжении большей части игры повторяет игровые ситуации, и вносит разнообразие только в конце при появлении новых врагов.
Но так играть было интересно, концепт интересен, сюжет просто присутсвтует
В общем такое приключение часов на 6 вполне себе работает

For a game almost 10 years old this holds up surprisingly well in 2026. About 6-8 hours for a first playthrough seems right - i started it and put 4 or 5 hours in years ago and then restarted hency my 13 hours.If you want to go for full unlocks i imagine there's 30 or so hours of gameplay here but i also think it would get VERY stale at that point.

I think that's why this game has remained something of an underground title. The gameplay loop IS interesting and different from anything I've ever played but it gets very repetitive and the players lack of any real agency over the "reset" cycle really hurts. I understand form an in-world perspective En doesn't have all the information to know how to trigger one or what the cycle it, and i also understand that it's supposed to be a bit random, but especially late game, where you hit a reset sometimes every 30 seconds, it gets old fast and feels like a game you can't ever really predict in a way that makes achievemnt and unlock hunting fun for me. I think a solid, damaging, melee attack would have made a big difference too, even if it required say a knockdown first or something.

That said, the design is amazing, the graphics are solid, the controls are tight and for a game the predominately takes place in huge, well lit, gilded halls it remains creepy - though not jump-scare-y - until the very end. Not a single bug or crash except for initial loading which was due to unreal engine 4 pre-requs not being installed corrects - there's posts about this - but no other glitches, bugs or crashes in a normal playthrough.

Solid 8 out of 10 game for me if you catch it at a solid price, for the hours there are here.

The adaptive enemy mechanic is great, e.g. if you shoot, the enemy learns how to shoot. The art direction is also really nice aside from the main character.

But as a game it just sucks. It's too difficult, every level looks the same, and the constant black screen every few seconds (when the power goes out) ruins any immersion. Enemies can spawn directly in-front or behind you, and don't have the same restrictions as the player. It's not fun when enemies have infinite ammo and stamina, when I'm forced to conserve ammo and can barely sprint.

Also the voice acting is atrocious. I understand it's an actress from Game of Thrones, but that doesn't make her a good voice actor. She's too quiet, and mutters half the words. Even with subtitles I'm having a hard time understanding her.

Több, mint 7 év és az azon belüli végtelen mennyiségű szünet után, de kínkeservesen eljutottam a legvégéig.

A játék történetének egyedisége, a látványos pályadesign, a nyomasztó hangeffektek és természetesen a zene is hozzátett a rettentően magával ragadó, de egyben igen klausztrofób hangulat összképéhez.
Minimális fegyverhasználat, rengeteg stealth és az azzal kapcsolatos taktikázás, illetve TÖMÉNY MONOTONITÁS: főként ezek jellemzik leginkább ezt a különleges sci-fi játékot, az Echo-t.

Utóbbi részlete - a monotonitás - ugyan alkalmanként kikészített és konkrétan ez volt a fő katalizátora a játék megannyi pihentetésének is a részemről, de végül örülök, hogy csak sikerült kijátszani és hogy az út végére tudtam érni.
A főszereplők, En és London egy érdekes párost alkotnak; a helyszín, a bolygó pedig egyszerre tud nyomasztó és gyönyörű is lenni.
Tény, monoton a game, ami talán az egyetlen ténylegesen felróható "hiba" is benne, viszont a mechanika és a történet végett - sajnos - monotonnak is kellett lennie...
...szóval kifejezetten nem tudok emiatt haragudni az Echo-ra.

Ha egy egyedi, single player, story-based sci-fit keresel, úgy egy egyszeri végigjátszásra mindenképp ajánlom, viszont ha nem vagy erős az olyan játékokban, ahol rá vagy kényszerülve a lopakodásra, úgy néha még a közepes nehézség is megizzaszthat.

u.i: Sajnálom, hogy ez végül a készítőknek nem csak az első, de egyben az utolsó játéka is lett.

High Concept Sci-Fi, Glorious Voice Actors, Graphics that honestly here in 2026 more than hold up... this is a 9... NINE! year old game.... A novel take on Stealth Action with some fun mechanics your enemies learn from your moves when the lights are on... when the lights are off they don't learn your moves. The story is compelling and honestly I'd love a Sci-Fi Miniseries based on this piece of fiction. It really is fantastic!

That said if you don't have patience and don't like stealth action puzzle games this. will be a 0/10 for you... it's great but you have to be the right audience.

The game is as easy or as hard as you want to make it. Anything you do while the lights are on, the NPCs will be able to do after the next blackout. You run? They run. You parkour? They parkour. You shoot? Congratulations, they learn how to shoot for the next round. On the other hand, you can cause the NPCs to mimic actions that would be beneficial to you. I like how dynamic the game is, so it gets a thumbs up from me.

ECHO is a unique stealth game from some of the previous makers of hitman. The game takes place in the grand Palace, a planet-sized structure with endless corridors and rooms with decorations and wall reliefs fit for only the richest of people in the galaxy. The graphic, design and atmosphere of this game is breathtaking, and you can really feel the grandness of the Palace. And although the Palace seems uninhabited at first, you quickly realize that it will make copies of you. Copies, or echoes, that wants you dead. Every so often, the Palace will reset itself and go dark. After that, the echoes will have learned your previous actions that you took before the reset. You have to outsmart and navigate through the Palace using this knowledge, making for a familiar but also unique stealth gameplay.

The game follows En and the AI "London". Two different individuals with strong personalites, their characters brought to life with great voice acting. The story and lore of this game unfolds from their conversations and we as the player get to piece together the backstories of En and London throughout the game. While abit short, the mystery around the story makes it intresting. The game also have alot of religious and philosophical refrences, which allows for the player to reflect on the game in their own way.

Lastly the music and sound in the game is excellent and haunting. The tracks are peaceful but gives this feeling that something is not always right. This combined with a great HUD system that feels like a part of En's suit really immerse you into the world.

Overall a good game with a unique twist to the stealth genre.

Il y a des œuvres vidéoludiques qui restent en tête, durant même des périodes où on y joue pas car son pouvoir attractif agit encore, Echo fait clairement parti de cette catégorie là pour moi, c'est même un OVNI en étant la première et dernière création d'un studio prometteur, Ultra Ultra, qui a insufflé à son jeu une volonté d'être différent, rafraîchissant, des influences bien digérées en ne se contentant pas de simplement les reproduire, tout en ayant des belles qualités techniques, plastiques et artistiques qui sont encore du plus bel effet 8 ans après sa sortie.

Au sein d'une mégastructure sous la forme d'un immense palais spatial, notre héroïne En, accompagnée par sa nouvelle IA, est guidée par l'espoir de faire revivre un être cher et elle se retrouve confrontée à une structure qui l'observe et la met à l'épreuve face à elle-même, tout en s'adaptant à nos faits et gestes en se rebootant à l'aide de black-outs.
Le titre joue habilement avec ce gimmick dans son game-design et sa jouabilité avec des passages où on doit se demander quelle est la meilleure façon de progresser et survivre dans ce dédale, choisir entre une approche furtive ou bien plus frontale ne sera pas sans conséquences, mais jamais de façon définitive, le système de boucles étant binaire, on peut autant s'adapter au lieu qu'il s'adapte à nous.

Avec son principe malin, bien pensé et exécuté, son ambiance et sa direction artistique saisissantes, les belles musiques qui participent totalement à l'atmosphère, son histoire et un lore intrigants qui donnent envie d'en savoir plus, tout en se payant au passage le luxe d'avoir une VF intégrale et d'excellente facture, c'est une expérience marquante qui a trouvé en moi un grand écho.

Yeah I like this game, story is good, dialogue although difficult to follow good when it needs to be. I wont get into the ending but the themes here are very adult and to get the most out of it you require a mature mind and university level reading skills to interpret. Gameplay is fantastic, I really like innovative puzzle games like this, Catherine and Portal come to mind, it is well thought out and will seriously challenge you to the conclusion, I would even claim that this is one of the best action stealth combat puzzle games ever made, and if not (I am certain there are plenty others) it is atleast very close to others in a similar league so for these reasons I recommend this game even at full price!

ECHO is a great game that avoids almost all of the pitfalls that occur in stealth games.

The primary gameplay loop is avoiding enemies that will mimic whatever the player does. This means you can go in guns blazing, but when the game registers this the enemies will also start shooting back. The health system isn't a set HP bar, but a "take 2 hits in too quick succession and you die" giving this option more risk. These changes can also help to hamper the player in other ways such as allowing the enemies to interact with doors that could otherwise be used as choke points, or letting them vault ledges making a quick escape more difficult. The real challenge is balancing the usage of evasion techniques against their escape counterparts. Finally, the enemies continuously respawn, which means there's no real benefit to abusing the AI and methodically clearing the whole map to make it safe. Danger persists no matter what you do.

The one downside is that the game shoots itself in the foot in the last few levels by introducing a new enemy type that more or less breaks the gameplay loop over its knee and tosses it in a dumpster. Up until this point the game is great and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good stealth game.

С первых минут игра захватывает своим сеттингом. Мы играем за девушку Эн, которая прибывает в таинственный Дворец — планетарных масштабов сооружение, сочетающее эстетику холодного sci-fi и роскошь Версаля. ✨ Визуальный ряд просто сногсшибательный: бесконечные золотые залы, мрамор, стерильная чистота и гнетущая атмосфера одиночества. Сюжет и химия между героиней и ИИ корабля (Лондоном) прописаны великолепно. Диалоги живые, озвучка (Роуз Лесли!) на высоте. Ты действительно хочешь узнать тайну этого места, и именно нарратив заставляет двигаться вперед, даже когда геймплей начинает откровенно душить. 📖

[h2]🤖 Гениальная идея против игрока[/h2]
На бумаге концепция звучит на 10 из 10. Дворец создает ваши копии (Эхо), которые учатся у вас. Вы стреляете? В следующем цикле они будут стрелять. Вы бегаете? Они побегут. Вы крадетесь? Они станут незаметными. 🧠 Это должно было превратить игру в тактические шахматы с самим собой, где каждое действие имеет последствие. Но на практике эта логика превращается в капкан. Чтобы выжить, игра [b]вынуждает[/b] вас делать... ничего. Самая эффективная тактика — это унылый стелс, медленная ходьба и ожидание. Самая большая проблема игры — это ощущение, что вас намеренно замедляют. Даже на низком уровне сложности враги почему-то обладают физическим превосходством. В спокойном шаге Эхо двигаются быстрее, чем протагонистка, что напрочь ломает ощущение честности. 🏃‍♂️💨 Ты чувствуешь себя неповоротливым водолазом в скафандре, пока враги порхают вокруг. Это не хардкор, это раздражающий дисбаланс.

Геймплей ощущается искусственно растянутым. Огромные уровни, по которым нужно долго и нудно идти, собирая ключи/сферы, чтобы просто открыть дверь. 🗝️ Циклы смены света и тьмы (блэкауты), которые поначалу пугают, со временем превращаются в рутину: «спрятался — подождал — пробежал». И так раз за разом. Удовольствие от прохождения сменяется усталостью. Кажется, что разработчики боялись, что игра закончится слишком быстро, и решили разбавить сюжет долгими секциями однообразного геймплея. ⏳😩

Cannot recommend this game highly enough! Honestly an A tier game imo, 9/10 it would be a full 10/10 if the gameplay was a little smoother and if you could change the crouch button to something other than the left stick, it's mostly a stealth puzzle/strategy game with a little bit of action, you have a gun and can shoot enemies that are copies of you but that alerts them to your position so its best to sneak and take them down silently if possible, either knock em down if they're facing you or choke em out from behind, and if you're spotted you can run and hide which would be made easier if the left stick wasn't the crouch button cause I keep on crouching when I want to run, other than that the gameplay is good and the levels are large and intricate and complex like a maze and it can be quite difficult just finding the right way to go to reach your objective which makes it even more rewarding when you do, the game is set in some kind of labyrinthine alien mega structure which is rendered gorgeously, the levels just keep getting more and more beautiful as you progress, the characters, story and lore are rich and deep, the dialogue is well written and the voice acting is great, to sum it all up it's like the stealth mechanics of Metal Gear Solid combined with strategic puzzle solving set in a dark future with some rather Lovecraftian themes and a very sleek and stylistic aesthetic reminiscent of Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. Apparently this game flopped and was the only one released by studio Ultra Ultra, its a shame cause I genuinely love this game its one of the best games I've ever played and I would have loved to see what they did next!

1) It starts with an hour of walking. Literally just walking. I couldn't recommend a game that takes an hour just to get to the game.
2) The story is nonsensical. I feel like I'm playing a sequel and missed the first installment
3) It gave me an achievement for walking down an infinite corridor for 'a while' because I didn't know you were meant to turn off. So it had me wasting time walking down a corridor with no end and then gave me an achievement for it. Stupid. Achievements are meant to be given for when the player has achieved something, not for getting lost.
4) Even when you do eventually get to do something other than just walk, it only gives you a couple of shots with your gun, so you have to run away and whatever. I hate that. If you like feeling weak and vulnerable in the face of hordes of enemies though; sure, knock yourself out.
5) I had performance issues with the frame rate continually dropping

Каждое твое действие влияет на клонов они перенимают бег стрельбу и даже манеру прятаться. Циклы с отключением света дают окно чтобы сделать то чему не хочется их учить и это рождает классное напряжение и планирование.
Атмосфера сильная. Огромные залы из мрамора и золота аккуратный саунддизайн и отличная озвучка создают редкое чувство одиночества и величия. Управление удобное стелс читаемый а редкие стычки ощущаются весомо.
Под конец игра становится весьма душной, когда убирают клонов с адаптацией и игра превращается в тупо шутер со стелсом, но вся остальная игра выглядит интересно.

Знакомство с данной игрой начинается нетривиально, ибо первый час из пяти, за которые она проходится, предстоит просто ходить и внимательно слушать диалоги между главной героиней и искусственным интеллектом её корабля, и сразу хочется отметить игру актёров - они играют на протяжении всей игры достаточно хорошо, им хочется верить и интересно следить за их взаимоотношениями, успеваешь даже проникнуться ими в какой-то мере, но увы, это одна из сильнейших сторон игры наравне с визуалом, которым по большей части игра и говорит.

Этот первый час не успевает наскучить или вынудить закрыть игру - то, что предстоит здесь увидеть, действительно захватывает и удерживает внимание. Дизайн локаций очень сильный, все эти пустые бесконечные абстрактные роскошные коридоры и залы имеют свойство завораживающее, и поэтому первый час воспринимается вполне нормально как знакомство с предысторией и структурой мира, в который мы попали на следующие несколько часов. Еще из внешних составляющих: саунд-дизайн, он справляется с задачей вызвать определенную тревогу или обозначить игровые моменты.

[h3] Окей, а что по самому геймплею, как игра играется? [/h3]
Это одна из тех игр, в которой самая высокая сложность открывается лишь после первого прохождения игры, и это нерадостный момент, зачем так делают сущности разработчиков - ума не приложу.. так что да, приходится довольствоваться лишь не самой высокой сложностью, а вот захочется ли играть второй раз? - это уже вопрос со звёздочкой.

По сути кор-механика врагов заключается в том, что они мол запоминают ваши действия и становятся сложнее, если вы спринтуете - они начинают спринтовать, если вы стреляете - они начинают стрелять, если вы что-то не делаете - они тоже перестают это делать, момент изменения в парадигме врагов происходит циклами, но есть один момент.

Очень неприятно сделан переход от темного к светлому циклу, если от света к тьме всё происходит плавно, то от тьмы к свету происходит какая-то перезагрузка и несколько секунд темного экрана, что ощущается достаточно странно и выбивающимся, учитывая, что это будет на протяжении всей игры.

Игровое ядро разделяется на две возможных составляющих, обе из которых выполнены, я бы сказал, не то что полноценно:

[*] Стелс - он здесь одновременно есть, и нет, можно скрываться от вражеских отродий и пройти мимо них, но они слишком балванческие, вас не заметят и если вы будете просто бежать без спринта за ними, спокойно подбегать лёгкой хваткой к их спине - они не обернутся, продолжать ходить по назначенному маршруту, узнал далеко не сразу, но есть возможность их тихо устранять путём зажатия клавиши пихания, но это не отменяет того, что они абсолютно глухие! но если они вас заметят - то уже никак не отстанут, вам придётся их расталкивать до наступления следующего дня, пока они о вас не забудут или перейти к следующей составляющей.
[*] Экшен - у нас в арсенале единственный ствол, который заряжается максимум до 4-5 зарядов, выстрелы проходят сквозь противников, но выбрать только пуш-режим условный и исходить только в стрелябильный геймплей едва ли получится, хоть от части и возможно, да - механика стрельбы есть, но ничем непримечательная и вряд ли вы вообще будете ей пользоваться, учитывая, что вы скорее всего не захотите, чтобы враги этому обучились и стали использовать против вас.. а если не злоупотреблять этим и тем же спринтом, враги и не станут восприниматься как серьёзная угроза вашей жизни.

Еще одно НО - одНОобназие, вам раза три за игру придётся тупо бегать по локациям, набитым ботами, собирая чекпоинты, и с каждым разом всё больше, или бегать из одного конца помещения в за ключами, чтобы открыть дверь в следующий уровень, и так тоже несколько раз за игру - это конкретно надоедает, и в принципе здесь нет какой-либо другой активности, которая зацепила бы, по факту одно линейное прохождение от точки А к точке Б на протяжении всей игры, и это нехорошо. И кстати, хоть это и сюжетно обосновано, но в игре по факту одна моделька врага, и она повторяет нашу собственную, лишь ближе к концу появится кое-что еще..

[h3] И подводя итог: [/h3]
Создаётся такое чувство, будто игра больше про визуал, атмосферу, историю, а не геймплейную составляющую, хотя не скажу, что прошел её не без удовольствия, ей явно не хватает более крепкого стержня, будто бы она пытается усидеть на всех стульях. Видно, что разрабы вдохновлялись той же "Космической Одиссеей" Стенли Кубрика, и вероятно другими произведениями, у них удалось сделать красивую картинку (помимо главной героини) и создать от неё нужные впечатления, но что касается наполнения - всё неоднозначно.

Раз очень большое значение здесь имеет история, что могу о ней сказать, сильно не зацепило, достаточно изъезженная история про семейную тиранию и спасителя извне, с закономерным финалом, который, если честно, не тронул. Игра - не провал, в неё спокойно можно поиграть разок, но как я сказал в начале, вряд-ли вам захочется её перепроходить.

This game is acquired taste. First hour was basically walking sim and I almost quit because it was that boring. then game properly began and it was interesting game mechanics. Because enemies copy your style it makes you think what are you doing. Game does look beautiful and sound design is decent as well. But overall I found game to be too slow and story is at best alright. Its basically a bit more hardcore walking sim with some puzzle elements.

The graphics are good, the voice-acting is fine, but the stealth action leaves miles to be desired. There's no take cover, there's no killing the enemies because they just periodically resurrect themselves, it takes far too long to get to being able to sprint, the running is too slow, you're forced into autowalk in narrow catwalk things where most games of this genre allow you to run if you want to, the non-protagonist's attitude is annoying on a massive level (despite the excellent voice-acting, imo), and all of this would be tolerable if not for the 'enemies resurrect' bit.

It's a sci-fi spin on Resident Evil replacing zombies with low-quality clones that just keep coming back to life because there's, what, some arbitrary unstated limitation on how many you can kill before it resets? Glad I paid under $10.00 for this game.

This game is incredibly repetitive and extremely slow paced. The first chapter of the game sets up a really good introduction, and really got me going. However, the narration is a bit.. robotic I feel, scripted almost. The AI is really annoying that constantly talks down to the main character you play, almost as nagging as Navi in LoZ. Into the second chapter things start to ramp up, and you end up having to play the entire rest of the game with extreme patience and stealth, but it's incredibly challenging and isn't rewarding at all. Even on easy, the game is incredibly difficult and taxing. It's not fun at all once you hit the third chapter.

This game has some really cool attributes towards environment, and could have something really good going for it. However, the gameplay just kills it. It's not fun at all, and I regret buying it.

Un jeu d'infiltration brillant.

Vous arrivez sur une planète qui se trouve complètement artificielle, et qui tout en même temps est le sujet d'un mythe : elle abriterait un palais infini dans lequel, en son centre, vous pourriez trouver un moyen de ressusciter feu votre mentor. Cependant, vous aurez remarqué que le palais se défend en créant des "échos" de vous-même (woo c'est le titre) ; des versions de vous-même qui, après chaque coupure de courant - c'est-à-dire à chaque fois que le palais se met à jour - copient vos mouvements.

L'atmosphère du jeu est incroyable. Le fait que le palais évolue en fonction de vos actions, qu'il ressemble à la fois à un bâtiment et une entité presque vivante, la présence des clones et le thème musical... Le jeu a une identité propre. De façon très minimaliste, il arrive à dire et à faire beaucoup de choses.

Le jeu est une succession de niveaux parfois entrecoupés par des phases de lore dans lesquelles l'IA qui vous accompagne commente de manière cynique toutes vos actions... J'avoue j'ai grossi le trait, le lore est assez complexe... mais je dois admettre que malgré toute la bonne volonté que j'y ai mise, je n'ai pas tout compris. À mon grand désarroi d'ailleurs car ces scènes sont entièrement doublées en français (et très bien doublées même !). L'histoire entre Eve (la protagoniste), l'IA et votre mentor s'étale beaucoup -- mais je crois que cette histoire n'est qu'un prétexte pour questionner vos actions et leurs conséquences.

Par exemple, si vous volez un orbe pour tuer un écho avec, lors de la prochaine boucle, ils seront capable de le faire aussi ou bien de briser les orbes pour que vous ne puissiez pas les utiliser. J'ai lu d'autres commentaires qui disaient "il y a un nombre de tir limité sur l'arme c'est débile" ; c'est un jeu d'infiltration, c'est à vous d'être plus malin ! Planifiez une route, essayez de la suivre et sinon improvisez. Les niveaux consistent à aller d'un ascenseur à un autre et, souvent, il faut allumer cet ascenseur en découvrant des flammes bleues : tout ce qu'il se passe entre vous et la sortie ne tien qu'à vous et vos talents de caméléon.

J'ai adorer, je recommande.

The first 2-3 hours are great. Then for some reason the game designers decide to make enemies swarm you, with no way to hide or escape and with no reason or rhyme. Very weird self destruction of a potentially good game. Very weird decision.

To be more exact: Enemies attack you directly after their short "search phase". You can run away and wait for them to reset from the power surge, which respawns all the enemies you knocked out before, but also leaves all the other enemies at the same place. At one point, in the hall full of water, there are so many enemies that every resemblance of stealth is thrown out the window, leaving you frantically running in circles.
I don't get it. What is this supposed to be? I feel scammed now.

I somehow made it to chapter 4, i don't really know how, but i changed the review from negative to positive. While i understand how it is supposed to be played more than before, i am still not quite sure if the devs know what a fun game is. This feels more like a sophisticated experiment rather than a game. It is definitely interesting.

Another edit: Sadly it is just not a fun, smooth or engaging game. The next level is just a doubling down on the obnoxious gameplay, just for the sake of being annoying.

If I could wave a magic wand and bring any one company back from the grave, it would be Ultra Ultra for creating ECHO. ECHO is brilliant, lovingly-crafted, unique, ambitious, and memorable, and it's a tragedy that Ultra Ultra didn't find the success they needed with it to continue making games.

The most common criticisms of ECHO I've seen are that it gets tedious or that it feels unfinished, and indeed I think these critiques stem from a legitimate common source which is that the game needed like 10% more to it. It feels like the developers were on a bit too tight of a deadline or that the money was a bit too tight, and slightly more development would've made it masterpiece. But in fact, they get pretty darn close to a masterpiece, and even acknowledging its shortcomings (which were few and not as severe as its reviews might suggest) the game is both impressive and extremely fun.

What do I like about ECHO?

The gameplay and central "gimmick", while simple, is surprisingly deep and consistently, satisfyingly challenging. Every cycle is not only an action/stealth game, but a value proposition game - can you get away with using your less powerful abilities so that the cycles remain easy, or do you risk running or shooting your gun for an immediate benefit, knowing it'll make your next cycle harder? That gameplay loop is tense and meaningful throughout the game, and my only wish is that it had been further expanded upon with more abilities (but even as-is it's pretty great).

Even beyond the gameplay, there's so much polish on the game that it's extremely immersive. The sound design is understated, clean, and subtle. The palace is simple yet breathtakingly opulent, its tiny variations giving very different characters to the different zones. En's suit has only a few functions, but it all meshes together so seamlessly it doesn't feel like you're a video game character with a HUD, it feels like YOU have an incredibly advanced cybernetic suit and its an extension of yourself. I keep returning to ECHO because when I play, I feel immersed in its world.

Finally, I just want to note how brilliant the story is. Despite how insanely sci-fi it is, despite how it's only comprised of two speaking characters, it's believable and engaging, perfectly paced, and you can't help but root for En and London. En and London, by the way, are not only perfectly and believably written, but are voice acted phenomenally. I feel like I know them as well as some of my favorite movie or book characters, and I would play ANY game if these two were in it.

All in all, ECHO is a flawed gem. It is not a perfect game, but the fact that this has a "Mostly Positive" on Steam doesn't reflect how truly special it is. If you're tired of AAA slop and want a game that will make you sit up and pay attention, I suggest giving ECHO a try — if you give it a little leeway, it might become something you return to over and over like I do!

Frustrating difficulty. Bad level design.
The frustration comes from the fact that levels are made so you can't solve them with good stategy. You just have to try 30 times and keep dying until you just get lucky once and somehow get thru.

Changing difficulty setting from normal to easy does not change anything.

Do not get fooled by some missinformation. This is NOT an action game. Shooting the one bullet you usually have for your gun is always instantly punished by a swarm of attracted enemies, insta-death and harder difficulty on your next try.

Echo is a real hidden gem with one of the coolest and most unique gameplay mechanics ever. In this game, you are the enemy opponents remember all your moves. If you run, they learn to run. If you shoot, they’ll shoot too. It’s such a fun mechanic because you always have to think twice about what moves are worth making, or the enemies will just copy you. But the game has other strengths too, like the amazing art design and the engaging story, so I’d definitely recommend it. It’s just really a shame that we’ll probably never get a sequel or see other games from the studio since it got shut down.

Un petit jeu indé qui met en scène deux personnages qui tentent de percer les mystères d'un palais perdu dans l'espace et le temps. J'ai grandement apprécié le jeu, les décors sont vastes, angoissants et donnent l'impression d'être perdu ou prisonnier et la DA science-fiction/mystère est super. J'ai adoré la progression et la découverte, l'histoire est bien exécutée, les personnages sont bien développés et les doublages aussi bien anglais que français sont captivants.

J'apprécie cette mécanique de gameplay qu'on n'a pas l'habitude de voir, [b]les ennemis apprennent de nos mouvements et de nos actions[/b] ce qui rend le jeu de plus en plus difficile. Par contre, la jouabilité globale peut-être très rude et peut déplaire aux premiers abords, c'est un jeu qui demande beaucoup de patience. La durée de vie est assez courte mais elle suffit puisque le gameplay arrive à ses limites (quand on termine le jeu 3 fois par exemple).

I really tried to enjoy this game, I really did. It clearly has some creativity to it, and I can appreciate a smaller game using its budget wisely with the repeating assets and all, but the story and gameplay are both utter chores to suffer through. I played offline on a Steam Deck for about 5 hours [the time shown next to my review is probably incorrect] and I just kept waiting for it to get better. I had a moment when I realized "oh, so this is the whole game now?" and that's where I stopped.

Far too much of the game is "hold control stick forward and walk slowly while characters share vague exposition." When it's time for gameplay at all, it is very dull and very uninspired stealth segments. You don't use tools meaningfully or interact with the world. It's more like rolling dice and hope you're lucky enough to run between enemies and get to the next stage as quickly as possible. The repeating nature of the levels and design recycling doesn't have to be a bad thing, but it is completely at odds with stealth gameplay. For example: It's not clear what cover you can hide behind or what doors you can use. Far too often you'll find yourself in wide open spaces where stealth isn't possible at all. Ammo is very limited, and the more you use your gun the more the enemies use theirs. The more you sprint, the more the enemies will sprint toward you with no chance of evasion. The game forces you to use "stealth" in brightly-lit, wide-open spaces. It just doesn't work.

With that said, I appreciate what this game was trying to do. Some of the basic mechanics and ideas are interesting. If you enjoy difficult games which require replaying the same levels over and over, you might enjoy this a lot more than I did. It's not without merit, and might be worth a try on sale.

Powtarzalność wpisana w rozgrywkę po prostu nudzi już od samego początku. Nie ma tu innowacji, o której tak niegdyś rozpisywały się niektóre media. To, że AI potrafi skopiować ruchy gracza nie oznacza od razu, że to jakieś nowatorskie podejście do tematu. Otoczka graficzna w klimatach science-fiction, fabularnie nie imponuje przy starcie (nie zachęca do dalszego obcowania z grą) i w ogóle jakieś toto nijakie... Gra nie trafiła w mój gust, stąd negatywna opinia - po nieco ponad godzinie gry zdążyłem się już nią znudzić.

This is worth buying purely for the architecture and atmosphere. It feels like you're exploring the last few scenes of Kuberick's 2001: A Space Odyssey combined with the manga Blame. It doesn't overstay its welcome, which is a good thing as the game-play can become repetitive towards the end. I liked how the story doesn't explain itself in great detail and allows for a degree of interpretation. I wish there was more quiet time to explore the palace and become lost in its infinite awe, as opposed to constantly evading the ever present threat of the "Echoes". This is almost an example of high-art when it comes to video games, but some of the generic tropes prevents it from being so. This is still an amazing game and definitely worth your time.

Je sais, je sais. C'est un jeu extrêmement modeste développé avec trois bout de ficelle et du scotch. Mais même en prenant en compte le micro budget et la poignée de développeur derrière, c'est assez médiocre, et ça me fait presque de la peine tant le concept (dans l'idée hein) est bon.

Les mécanique sont prometteuses puisqu'on est censé se battre contre soit même, dès que l'on fait quelque chose, l'IA du jeu va le copier pour nous contrer... mais en seulement quelques minutes on atteint déjà ses limites. Pourquoi ? Car on s'aperçoit que Echo est complétement cassé, pas du tout équilibré, et 90% des possibilités et mouvement à notre dispositions sont parfaitement inutiles puisque si vous avez le malheur de faire autre chose que trottiner mollement dans les couloirs, le jeu vous explose le cul. Si vous avez le sacrilège de sprinter ou d'utiliser votre flingue, c'est fini pour vous les niveaux deviennent injouables et on vous punis pour avoir voulu tenter autre chose que la marche, du coup on continue à ne faire que ça pendant des heures, et ci et là on pousse nos clones qui veulent nous faire des calins, dans des décors répétitif et lassant aussi vite que le gameplay.

Dommage, une proposition forte et intelligente, mais une execution raté de A à Z. Et ce n'est pas l'univers ou l'histoire qui vont porter le projet puisque eux aussi sont anecdotique et peu développés.

This game sure starts with a lot of forced walking, but it gets better. Realizing when to avoid teaching your copies ninja moves and when to go nuts running and shooting everything is a really nice feeling.

And I can't argue against the art deco aesthetic either. The game really sells the unfathomable decadence of the original owners of the complex.

This game needs to be so much more popular than it is. It's very fun and unique and manages to establish an atmosphere incredibly well. The voice acting and dialogue are phenomenal and I desperately need more of the lore. The gameplay gets swapped up just when it starts to get old and overall it's a fantastic 10 hour jaunt well worth playing.

Good game. Something in-between a stealth and action game. The "echo learning" mechanic created an interesting twist on how to tackle each level. I ran into a few situations where I had to "run and gun". Which made the next reboot a bit more challenging.

The levels are beautiful and combine with the sound design to create quite the atmosphere. I found the story to be a bit lacking. Part of that is probably due to the way the narrative plays out between En and London. That combined with the game length which is a hair on the short side. I really wanted one more level.

Overall, a good game and one of those hidden gems.

Я дуже довго відкладав проходження цього інді шедевру але таки пройшов його. Якщо коротко то гра неоднозначна і доля її і сумна і весела одночасно як і сама гра.

Якщо коротко то це симулятор ходьби з елементами стелсу. Геймплей тут по суті унікальний завдяки механіці циклів. Сюжет тут подається через діалоги головної героїні із штучним інтелектом корабля. Якщо ви любите наукову фантастику і не боїтесь недосказаності то вам однозначно варто спробувати.

Але є і незручні моменти. Всі плюси гри є в той же час і мінусами. Прикольні локації добавляють атмосфери і філософії загальному задуму але вони встигнуть надоїсти, унікальний гемплей є доволі напряжним і трішки душнить, історія і діалоги дуже цікаві але не дають можливості дізнатись все що хотілось би, а в кінці нас чекає не до кінця зрозуміла кінцівка (покрайній мірі для мене).

Ще варто сказати про непросту долю "Ехо". По суті зробили її вихідці з студії яка робила Хітмена але коли гра так собі продалась студія закрилась і вони повернулись назад.

Резюмую. Ехо не всім зайде але це унікальний і цікавий продукт який не залишить байдужим і який навіть в 2025 році виглядає шикарно. Якщо ж ви вагаєтесь чи навпаки пройшли і хочете більш поглиблено зрозуміти що відбувалось прикріпляю посилання на єдиний толковий матеріал по грі.

ECHO is a fantastic game. The primary mechanic, while not being too difficult, is interesting and different, leaving you pre-planning how you're going to use it as you explore the world.

The art and sound design is absolutely beautiful. There is such a wonderful atmosphere in so much of the game. The devs did a great job with making the environment feel compelling and dire.

It's a damn shame that we'll never get a sequel.

J'ai vraiment beaucoup aimé ce jeu. J'ai été complètement déconcerté au début et je l'ai trouvé injouable. Mais il faut juste avoir pris le temps d'écouter et de saisir comment l'environnement se comporte. Une fois cela acquis, les choses deviennent plus naturelles.
