This is an absolutely amazing roguelike.
Core gameplay seems fun and I like the meta-progression by building the academy. But the humor is just.. bruh.. a game not taking itself too seriously is fine in small doses, but here it's way over the top and just feels cringe to the point that it kills my motivation to keep playing.

The actual moment to moment gameplay is one of the smoothest and most eye catching traditional roguelikes I've ever played. The game is one of the few around that is actually funny. Not like hee hee they put some references in funny, but actual new jokes funny in the form of both hilarious writing and visual gags. Can't recommend this one enough to any fan of the genre and also to those who have never played a traditional roguelike before.

さてゲームの内容ですがセール込みワンコインレベルで遊べる内容にしては十分過ぎるものです。
現状日本語化されてない壁はあるものの私も雰囲気で遊びながら適宜気になった時にちょろちょろ翻訳する程度でクリアまで問題有りません。
で、具体的なゲーム内容としては某世代交代していく皇帝RPGよろしくキャラが死にながらパーマネントアップグレードを次のキャラに少しずつ引き継いだりしていくんですけども……実はソフトコアモードがあるので死なないようにもできます。なのでそこまで身構えて高難易度に挑むっていうより何だかよく分からない初見殺しの変なモブや仕掛けやボスで死にながら一通り覚えればいいんじゃないでしょうか。
ゲームステージ的にはランダムダンジョンの攻略をしながらキャラを育てて固定ダンジョンの大ボスを倒す訳ですがそもそもキャラのLvは15で頭打ち、装備品のレアリティも基本的には★5が上位で(6以上もあるにはある）種類的にそんなに多くも複雑でも無く適正Lvのダンジョンで順次キャラと装備が整って段階的な持ち物検査を突破していく感じなのでそこまでがっつりとハクスラを遊ぶ感じでは無いかもですね。レジェンダリやセット装備なんかが出てくるLv10~12以降になると少しワクワク感が高まりますが極端に突出するビルドと育成をするよりは少し成長要素のある「不思議なダンジョン」系くらいのプレイフィールが近いかも。
とはいえ、キー設定すればオート探索もしてくれるし頼れるペット育成もあるしご覧の通り30時間以上しっかり遊んでるけどまだまだ試してないことも色々あるので全然面白いと思います。
惜しむらくはやはり色んな要素がとにかく分かりにくい、説明不足どころか断片すら情報がないものすらある。私が見落としただけという可能性もあるかも知れませんが特にヒントの無い強化要素とか結構あるので何でもとりあえず試してみるっきゃねえ！って状態なのが人を選ぶでしょうなあ。
追記：がっつりプレイしてアイアンマンモードもクリアしました。GG!
追記２：さらにやりこんでアカデミーが廃墟状態のRuinedAcademyモードもクリアしました。やったぜ。

Very fun traditional roguelike. Some roguelikes take themselves very seriously. This game does its best to make it very entertaining too with a whole lot of silliness without detracting from its quality. Here you can have your own battle poultry for example....that is something not even the KFC has.
The game is super super fun but it has an issue of bearly any variation when it comes to dungeons. So fighting and looting dungeons gets boring quick when you have seen the same 4 things over and over

I like this game, it has a lot of interesting things. Some sort of mix between traditional and roguelike games. Tons of content, humor and fun things.
Negative part is clunky control. My last two death of high level characters were mostly due to those. By accident my range shot itself with special ability..quick and clean death. This happens due to some controls delay(in turn based game) that triggered ability is firing next turn.
Second is clunk inventory system, it takes some time to find a potion of healing. And quick access toolbar doesn't help much. 10 slots with ability to scroll them but the scroll button is very small, hotkey is same as some system key. Pretty irritating.
I had an input storing and spamming bug when using a dedicated numpad. I brought this up in the discord and the dev fixed the issue in less than 24 hours. That's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing.
Traditional roguelikes where there's a lot of trash mobs sprinkled with insanely powerful elites gets a bit boring over time. However far I've gotten into Dungeonmans feels like the danger is distributed more evenly which makes exploring and fighting in a dungeon very satisfying.
I also heavily dislike roguelikes where you're accruing a currency used after death to improve base stats, it's nonsense, you're not playing a good roguelike, you're not learning anything and I don't want you near me, get away. Meta progression does exist here but its tied to the development of your academy, it's cool to see it grow overtime as well as the cemetery of your past heros/attempts. If that doesn't sound purist enough for you just pick a difficulty where the academy is destroyed.
If you enjoy games like : Caves of Qud, Tales of Maj'Eyal, Cogmind, Doors of Trithius, Infra Arcana, ect. I believe you'll have a great time with this game, definitely worth the money and time.

That's Dungeonmans in a nutshell.
Imagine ADOM (classic, not that soy multigendered ♥♥♥♥♥ about eating rings and grafting hands).
Remove all clutter from it, from cooking and relative mechanics to NPC's quests.
Et, voila! Perfect dungeon crawler!

What adds extra spice to me is that this game is also very moddable.
I have plans, big plans... but I should beat vanilla game at least once to become familiar enough with its quirks and start implementing good stuff.

Like, I, with my measly 27 hours of playtime, did a revelation to a more seasoned player: you CAN dual-wield boomerangs and it's awesome!
And discoveries like that are on each step.
You can go Grey Gandalf with sword and staff, if you know what you're doing.
You can parry things with your two swords, while pinging enemy casters with a bow, WHILE carrying around some monster, WHILE SIPPING ICED TEA WITH OTHER MONSTER. AT THE SAME TIME!
You can literally drop F Bomb.
And I'm not even remotely close to marvels which endgame promise...
(and once I'll start dipping toes into modding... ooooh, I have so many plans for this game's modding...)

Alongside Tales of Maj Eyal, one of the best games in thee roguelike RPG genre.
The thing that makes this game stand out is that you get to continue after a character dies with a new one, with added bonuses if a prior character reaches a high enough level, but I wont spoiler that mechanic too much.
Kick arse game, responsive developer. Just check out the latest update (Slayer's Summer) for what I'm talking about.

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite roguelikes, it's an easy buy if you can get it on a sale.

Honestly, I'm very impressed. Pretty little roguelike (with a small and tidily done bit of between-character progression, if you want it), accessible enough for a not-very-experienced like myself. Ended up mostly running on the numpad to move (diagonals matter a lot), with the mouse to aim spells/arrows/etc.
Well worth a shot!

Cute and funny little roguelike with modernish UI that isn't an eyesore. The Academy unlock system feels like Hammerwatch... or does Hammerwatch feel like... whatever.
It's a nice roguelike. The animations and sounds are punchy and fun. ToME and ADOM didn't do it for me because of their extremely outdated UI, so this took their place.

A solid roguelike that has gotten a lot of post launch support in the years after its initial launch. The gameplay loop it to build up your base with upgrades over time that give each following run a slight boost, although these are not huge boosts, you will certainly not get strong enough where you can just breeze through enemies, mainly just start off a little stronger than normal. There is an optional iron man mode in which you can try and beat a run without any of the incremental progression. There are also random encounters or items you can find that trigger events, so runs won't always be the same and there are also some hidden secret class skills you can unlock but getting the required prerequisite skills beforehand. All in all it's quite fun, a good starting point for people who want to try out a roguelike game without being thrown in the deep end.
It's a game. It's fun. Get stremf, become dungeonmans, simple as.

I really want to like this game, it has some great ideas, it has potential, if not for two things.
1. I cannot recommend it in good faith in its current state of bugginess. Seeing a "I don't know, you broke Dungeonmans" message is cute once in a blue moon and when it doesn't hurt anything, not when the game decides to delete your hard-won artifact armor. Nor is it funny to have to replay the game because it failed to register the most tedious achievement.
2. The above could be overlooked in an Early Access game, and here I see it's had its 10th anniversary already? It seems something went seriously wrong in the QC process on the way.

This is a fun rogue like that takes your characters through generations of characters who make each run a little easier. Granted you are going to die a lot. That is the name of the game. Play for a little bit work on a build and die. Come back and try a new unlock and unlock some more things.
You can also Pay 2 Lose which I backed to support the Dev team. A fun little tool that makes the game even harder. For those who enjoy modding their games. This title is not afraid to just let you have fun with their game. They respect your time and your abilities to edit TXT files.
Over all I think this is an enjoyable experience that I would recommend to those who like these kinds of games.

I'm not a big roguelike player, but this one was fun. Very beginner friendly with understandible gameplay mechanics and many QOL features to make things go more smoothly. Its sprites are clear, its art adorable and I absolutely love the heroic sounding music! The battle poultry is a great companion, soaking many hits for your ranged character. Or perhaps you want to feed him more ranged abilities to cover from afar. The game is though midway through, but bringing back proofs to your academy at least ensures you can empower your character even more in the next adventure.
All around I got no complaints. Just a good game!

Progression balance doesn't really exist in this game. You'll effortlessly clear 3 dungeons in a row, then round a corner and get insta-bopped by a champion. Oops, there go the past 5 hours!
Permadeath stings particularly bad when dying feels like it's out of your control. Here are some examples:
1) The tower dungeon boss slaps you with 5x5 area hits that can one-shot unarmored builds.
2) The infamous "Triger" can again one-shot many low-armor builds, if in melee range.
3) A champion mummy surprised one run with a curse for 1/4th of max health per turn for 100 turns.
4) Trickster spellcasters can strip away your life-preserving buffs at inopportune moments.
[h3]Cost of Learning[/h3]
All of the above cases are technically avoidable, but require you to make that deadly mistake at least once to learn what to avoid, which can cost you hours of time to recover from. Plus, there are situations where multiple high threats overlap in unavoidable ways, or you simply fail to notice one change among the dozens of enemies/buffs/debuffs on screen.
[h3]Inventory Management[/h3]
Consumable spamming is expected to be your answer to most dangers. Thing is, your inventory is shown as an ever-growing list that takes longer and longer to navigate with time. Even favoriting just the "essentials" easily fills up more than a page, and it becomes very clunky and tedious to repeatedly access. The UI just isn't designed to handle that many items or be easily accessible.
[h3]Repetition, Repetition...[/h3]
On the subject of tedium, the gameplay loop is very small. The only thing you really do is grind, grind, grind, and I find myself getting bored after the 10th dungeon with similar enemies. Only about 5% of players have the achievement for beating the game, and I suspect difficulty isn't the only reason for that.
[h3]Small Irritations[/h3]
There are little things a bit everywhere that hamper the experience. Little things like having to go all the way back to the academy after every dungeon to cache in your relics (before you die and lose them), or the statue in the middle of the path that makes you walk around it instead of just walking up, or enemy animations that take just a little too long before you can take your turn. They're not that big of a deal on their own, but do add up.
[h3]Crashes & Save Corruption[/h3]
I haven't had this as bad as some people, but I did lose an early-stage world to corruption. I could see this being particularly harmful if it happened later in a save file.

One of my favorite games in my favorite genre. The real joy of dungeonmans is that it applies roguelite progression to the traditional roguelike formula. It also features an extremely flexible and open-ended skill system that lets you make powerful chracters, and it has a ton of content. It's old but it's great, and I've silently enjoyed it ever since it came out.
To the dev, congrats on your thousandth review and here's to ten more years of dungeonmanning :)

This game pisses me off. It keeps putting me in my place when I start feeling overconfident and bored and I'm lowkey a little angry at the creator cause that makes it feel like some unspoken war that's been started between us and I'll be damned if I lose.
I don't buy merch, either, but I'd deface some random property with Proof of Stremf stickers, given the chance. Haha.
Just play it. Go be annoyed like I am. It's fun.
Kill monsters, level up, get all the loot, laugh at the jokes, die, learn the game more, rinse/repeat. It isn't easy, but it's fun and rewarding.

Writing a review because the dev deserves it. The game dropped over 10 years ago, and the dev is still doing work on it. Not just dropping little bug fixes, but actively adding to and improving the game. He gives a ♥♥♥♥, and it shows.
For the game itself? It's a more or less a traditional rougelike. If you're new to the genre, there are MANY worse ways to cut your teeth. The game's Dungeonmans Academy mechanic helps dying feel less traumatic, which can go a long way towards keeping newer players engaged.
If you know the genre, you know what you're up against. Note that the game doesn't take itself too seriously, so if you can keep your tongue in your cheek, you'll likely enjoy it. Give it a go. Snag it on sale if you're on the fence; trade one day's latte for hours of entertainment.

Was enjoying the game until I ran into a ridiculous, game breaking bug. Basically, the game crashed, got confused, and thinks I'm in the overworld and in a dungeon at the same time. This causes it to crash constantly, and I can't get out. My save file is ♥♥♥♥♥♥. But no big deal, right? I'll just make another! It's only 9 hours of my life down the drain.
WRONG. Now EVERY save, even fresh ones, crash when I try to load in to the world. I straight up cannot play the game at all. This is totally unacceptable.
