Well...shame on me, because this is the best 3/10 game I have played in a very long time. Its even better than most 7-9/10 games these days.

I mean, Neon has it all: Online, couch co op, replayable, EZ2Learn Hard2Master, an awesome OST, tough yet multiple and engaging difficulties, new game plus, sick combos, decent graphics, style, good sound design, and hundreds more things that I probably forgot to list.

Double Dragon Neon has a little something for everyone.

Un desastre la dificultad para jugar de a uno, para quienes les gusta el desafío de pasar la final con una sola vida es imposible, es como que el algoritmo te obliga a morir si o si aunque sea una vez, aunque esquives todo en cierto momento los enemigos se vuelven invulnerables y aunque esquives te pegan??? En fin, al principio se pone bueno pero a medida que avanzas sigue siendo más de lo mismo, Street of Rage 4 lo supera por mucho, pensé que este iba a ser mejor pero la verdad deja mucho que desear ya que uno en normal espera aprender a utilizar las habilidades y pulirlas, pero este juego te castiga cada error, obviamente de a 2 es otra cosa y ya se pasa de fácil, pero de a uno es muy dificil no morir porque se encabronan mal.

You know what? I got more than I expected. Having to stun to throw was weird but not unwelcomed, highs and lows and dodging felt alright. I got a kick out of the goofyness, 90s cartoon vib. Bimmy, lol. I member I member. But yeah, It has a unique texture and not offensive challenge.

If you are looking for DD as serious as you thought it was as a kid and want the same thing, you might be disappointed. But if you want something a bit weird with some neat mechanics and co-op stuff, and want it to be as goofy as you would see it as an adult, then eat up butter cup.

Maybe it's a Windows problem? I couldn't say. But I've tried guides and patches and nothing really works. Until they patch this game again (which I have my doubts), I can't rec this game

De los juegos más potables de esta saga tan prolífica, pero con tan poca cosa buena, ya sé que es muy mítica y recordada por mucha gente, yo también le tengo un cariño especial, pero si analizamos los juegos, hay poco donde rascar.

Metiéndonos en harina, el control es bueno y las colisiones también, da buena sensación, pero creo que el botón de correr, no digo quitarlo, pero si dar la opción de también poder correr haciendo doble toque. Gráficamente a mí me gusta, sin ser una pasada, pero entiendo que tiene un estilo muy peculiar y que hay quien no le gusta, pero bueno, para gustos... La música es espectacular y los sonidos muy buenos.

El juego implementa un muy interesante progreso, además aprovechando algo retro como las cintas de casete, que van apareciendo de forma aleatoria como premio y también se pueden comprar en tiendas, además de mejorar la cantidad máxima a poder tener, eso se compra con diamantes, que los dan los jefes finales. Cada cinta contiene un poder o un golpe especial, tenemos diez de cada, que podremos elegir de forma estratégica, o según como se adapte a cada uno, o según la que te dan en cada momento y todavía no tienes las que te gustan.

El cooperativo está muy bien, dando cierta variedad y estrategias, ya que puedes interactuar con el compañero haciendo ciertos gestos para tener mejoras, cambios e incluso repartir la energía.

Las partes negativas, los jefes duran demasiado, sobre todo alguno en concreto, se hacen tediosos y tienen demasiada armadura, por lo que la pelea se siente injusta e incómoda. No tiene un modo arcade en el que las vidas se mantienen hasta el final, cada fase empiezas con 2 vidas, da igual que la anterior terminaras con una o diez vidas, además hay tiendas donde puedes comprar vidas y valen de poco, ya que gastas el dinero y si no te las quitan en esa fase, las pierdes para la siguiente.

[h2]Very cheap but VERY fun beat-em-up![/h2]

Okay so, Double Dragon. That's one [i]hell[/i] of a storied franchise, given the rough history it had since its beginning, and its refusal to innovate combined with just handing out the IP to literally anyone who paid the license making it an absolute mess to look back on now with no proper continuity.
Then Technos died a horrible death and had its IPs bought up by ArcSys who now hogs the rights to it alongside River City/Kunio-Kun.

Not long BEFORE that buyout though, there was this attempt to revive the franchise in 2012. Handed out to WayForward (banger studio by the way, they have a super consistent track record for stuff like this), and given what seems to be a budget of three venezuelan bolivars and half a box of gummy worms.

...Yeah okay I'm gonna address the ugly 3D elephant in the room before anything else. This game is very CHEAP-feeling. You can just look at it and it almost looks like one of those weird Simple Series games from back on PS2. The 2D drawn backgrounds are relatively decent-looking, but then all the characters are these weird 3D models overlaid on top with kinda-janky animation. It doesn't look very pretty, you can tell they didn't have much budget to work with.

Don't let that deter you though, the graphics might be not great but EVERYTHING ELSE is [i]great[/i].

The [b]gameplay[/b] is (surprisingly) a pretty solid evolution on the base formula! I'll sum it up real quick so you get a general idea.
So you have the standard beat-em-up bases. You have a sort-of-3D play area where you can move horizontally and vertically, then you can attack and jump.

You have two types of attacks: Punches (which just keep going infinitely like in the oldest beat-em-up franchises like Golden Axe) and kicks (which are an actual regular 3-hit combo that ends in a spinkick with very useful i-frames).
Hitting enemies enough (depends on the type of enemy) or with specific types of attacks (the spinkick is great for this) will stun enemies with a very visible freeze effect and audio cue to let you know.
And once an enemy is stunned, you can either punch them, which will turn into an uppercut launcher that lets you juggle them, or grab them (you can only grab stunned enemies and certain small flying enemies) to fling them behind you, hitting every other enemy that's in the way.

There's a sprint button, which has a small animation startup, but makes you move a LOT faster horizontally (and also has two attacks you can do out of it, a slide kick and a shoulder tackle which is good for staggering and stunning).

You also have a "crouch" button that essentially acts as your dodge/parry. You're invincible for a brief moment when you crouch, and you can chain that into one of two attacks (a sweep kick or a rising knee launcher), or you can roll out of it. Timing a crouch/dodge right as an attack is about to hit you gives you [b]"gleam"[/b], which is a temporary buff that doubles your attack for a short duration. So you're REALLY encouraged to learn enemy attacks and engage with them by way of dodging so you can destroy them even harder when it's your turn to combo them.

All of this combines REALLY well, especially since once you've launched an enemy you can keep hitting them in the air, juggle them, and even wall-bounce them if the screen is locked to a specific arena to keep your combo going.
For instance, you could dodge an enemy's attack, roll behind them, now buffed with gleam, then do a couple punches from the back and chain that into a spinkick (you can combine punches and kicks) that stuns the enemy, then launch them with an uppercut, cancel that into a crouch, launch them again in the air with your rising knee, bounce them against the wall, then do a full kick combo on them as they fall back towards you.

Add on top of all of this the [i]mixtape[/i] system.
Being the 80s love letter that it is, the main characters basically power themselves up by equipping and listening to mixtapes.
There's two types: Passive mixtapes and "Sosetsitsu" (special attack) mixtapes, and there's ten of each type. The passive ones affect your stats, and depending on which one you equip can have additional effects (like extending your gleam buffs or having health steal on your attacks).
The Sosetsitsu tapes let you use the special button (yeah, another mechanic) to burn up some of your recharging energy meter and use whatever move you've equipped. They range from projectiles, to risky-but-strong melee attacks, to invincible [i]"get off me"[/i]-type moves, to healing utility for co-op. There's a lot of options!

That said, you do have to level up mixtapes by grabbing duplicates dropped by defeated enemies, or buying those duplicates from the in-game shops with the money you collect. There's also a tapesmith that uses a second currency dropped by bosses to raise the max level of whatever tapes you pick, you can level them up even more. It's a bit of a weird system and you'll probably need to level those things for replays on higher difficulties, but if you don't mind a tiny little bit of grinding (or only plan on playing normal mode) it's fine. It adds a neat layer of customization to the already pretty good gameplay, and many of the Sosetsitsu moves are pretty good for comboing on top of the rest of your arsenal.

Also one thing I CAN't not mention. The [b]music[/b].
It's INSANELY good dude, I really can't put into words how good this game's music is. The whole thing's composed by WayForward audio god Jake Kaufman, following a bunch of 80s styles, and pretty much all of it is super catchy. Both the vocal and non-vocal tracks (cause yes, there's vocals). The second stage's pop track and the final stage's kung-fu-movie-ass brassy tune are probably my favorites in the whole game. ALL OF IT is worth a listen though.

And the other thing I should mention. The game's [b]humor/writing/tone[/b].
So, I've mentioned a couple times that the game's one gigantic 80s homage. Down to its Neon title.
And the, uh, [i]questionably ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-y[/i] trailer you probably already saw in this same store page.

It's dumb, stupid, cheesy, and voice acted awkwardly in the BEST possible way. The whole thing is written like some 80s cartoon and is full of [i]insane and stupid[/i] setpieces like [spoiler]the two dumbass protagonists just "holding their breath" during the space level and being fine that way, the bad guys flying a helicopter upside down to hit you with the blades, the girlfriend you rescue sending you after the bad guy with [i]literally the power of love[/i], or THE ENTIRE ENDING SEQUENCE BEING THIS REALLY STUPID BUT REALLY CATCHY MUSICAL WHERE THE BAD GUY GIVES YOU THE BEAT-THE-GAME ACHIEVEMENT AND SINGS ABOUT IT WITH PERFECT TIMING AS HE'S EXPLODING, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥[/spoiler].

It's humorous, but not in, like, a Marvel/millenial/self-deprecating unbearable modern style if you're worried about that. It's just wholeheartedly, unabashedly, earnestly stupid the whole way through. And I loved every second of it, almost my entire time with this game I spent rocking the stupidest grin on my face. Your mileage may vary if you wanted something more serious, though.

[b]In summary?[/b] I ADORE this game. It's absolutely worth a shot, especially if you do it co-op which makes it even more fun (and changes some of the dialogue to match the two characters in fun ways).
It's dirt-cheap (matching its low budget) and it's super duper fun, with surprisingly deep and solid gameplay and EXTREMELY good music. Hell, I'd say it's worth a shot even just for the music alone, but the game itself is a really fun time too.

Примерно в 1998 году со стартом шестого поколения консолей (PS2, GameCube, Dreamcast и Xbox) игровая индустрия постепенно начала делать сдвиг в сторону технически сложных, комплексных игр с упором на сюжет, так и закончилась золотая эпоха игр пришедших прямиком с аркадных автоматов. Одной из таких игр была оригинальная Double Dragon, вроде как впервые появившаяся на одной из таких аркадных машин, но основную популярность она получила на актуальной тогда Sega Mega Drive/Genesis и уже устаревшей Nintendo NES. У меня же достаточно рано в детстве появился пусть и слабый, но все же пк, так что консоли и все игры с них прошли мимо меня. Ну и в том году я узнал, что оказывается в 2014 вышел перезапуск/ремейк под названием Double Dragon: Neon, ну и прохождение напросилось само собой.
Как и предок со старых консолей это достаточно зрелищный и бодрый beat ’em up с возможностью проходить игру в соло или в кооперативе за одним устройством или по сети. Персонаж под управлением игрока может бить руками и ногами, прыгать, делать перекаты и использовать активные навыки, так же присутствует примитивная прокачка пассивных и активных умений посредством сбора аудиокассет, которые рандомно выпадают с противников. Так же есть возможность поднимать разнообразное оружие ближнего боя или использовать предметы окружения по типу всяких бочек для нанесения урона неприятелям. Противники весьма разнообразны и некоторые требуют специального подхода, просто бегать и бездумно затыкивать врагов непросто даже на минимальной сложности. В конце каждого второго уровня встречается босс, могу отметить что схватки с каждым из них непохожи друг на друга, единственный из них что мне не понравился это босс - танк из за обилия платформинга, ну не переношу я эту игровую механику. В кооперативе у персонажей под управление игроков слегка урезаются жизни, но играть при этом как по мне все равно намного проще из-за рассредоточения противников.
Про сюжет много сказать не получится, так как игры подобного жанра как правило не делают на него упор, не стала исключением и Double Dragon: Neon.
Игрок управляет парнем по имени Билли и в самом начале игры бандиты крадут его девушку Мериан, ну и естественно главный герой должен ее спасти, попутно ломая лица всем кто встанет у него на пути. Если играть в кооперативе, то второй игрок управляет его братом - Джимми, который отличается только цветом волос и одежды. Достаточно колоритным с точки зрения внешнего вида получился главный злодей Скаллмагеддон, здоровенный скелет в азиатской одежде, разговаривающий гнусаво-писклявым голосом.
Оптимизация у игры отличная, но если честно то и тормозить то тут нечему, это же 2D, каких либо багов я не встретил. Художественный стиль у игры очень яркий и ламповый, напоминающий американские мультфильмы из 80-х и 90-х, все 10 уровней игры имеют свой визуал, где то это залитые неоновым светом трущобы, где то сельская местность, а где то научная лаборатория и тд и тп. Игра имеет великолепный саундтрек, дающий миллион очков к атмосфере, все треки, будь то поп, рок или электронная музыка выполнены в очень ярком стиле 80-х. Могу отметить небольшую продолжительность игры, на полное прохождение уйдет около трех часов, если перепроходить второй раз то выйдет еще быстрее, так как прокачка персонажа ускорит процесс, но как по мне это точно не является минусом. Если Вы любите жанр beat ’em up или просто хотите что непродолжительное и не перегруженное механиками, ну или ищете игру для коопа, то Double Dragon: Neon может стать той самой игрой, что подарит много приятных впечатлений.

Fun beat 'em up with a few extras you don't usually see in that genre. First, the characters are 3d rendered instead of the usual 2d pixel art of the Double Dragon series. I found it refreshing and I also liked the exagerated animations. I appreciated the colors of the clothes and skins constantly changing giving extra variety to the enemies. The 2d backgrounds are more of a mixed bag with some possibly not liking the sci-fi trappings. I did. There are mix tape collectibles that drop and those serve to upgrade 10 special attacks and 10 stances, as well as your stats. You can select one of each. Each one has a great little jingle, an highlight. The upgrades improve your character, give a lot of variety and increase replayability.

The game controls very well with both analog stick and d-pad. A dodge button that doubles damage after success is a nice addition, but you don't really need it to win. In general, it feels responsive and good when you fight. The soundtrack is very good and it even has great 80s-sounding pop tracks with a talented female singer . There's online coop, instead of the usual local coop mode. It worked very well except for the last boss where it was lagging. Finally, there's a subtle, campy humor throughout, especially noticeable with the main villain. That end credit sequence was unexpected and hilarious.

... It's a turd... I've played a lot of DD games in my time. This game is by far the worst I've struggled to play through. The moves suck, The movement suck. The boss are unfair. I would've like this game more if it had a block instead of a duck. The duck is so cumbersome that your timing to use it will often make you take the hit more then dodge the attacks.

You'd think if you do a knee jump attack you could chain it into a combo. Nooo, they take the hit then cheap hit you back. Half your move list will result in you hitting the enemy and the enemy hitting you right back. Add that up and you'll be dead before the stage ends.

Oh one more thing that DAMN ANNOYING. Throwing sucks. You can't grab the enemy until you fully stun them. So don't waste your time pressing the grab button because it's useless until you stun someone. Also you can't choose which way to throw them like in other DD games. You can only throw them over your shoulder in the opposite direction from which you grabbed them. So there's no way to knock down enemies that group up, unless they are in that direction which is rare sometimes.

А когда играешь на максимальной сложности, то испытываешь то чувство, когда от злости хочешь разбить джойстик, игра тебя прямо насилует, и заставляет подчиняться и заучивать поттерны врагов. Это та самая игра, когда разработчики ещё не придумали как перенести 2D игру в 3D. Они хотели сделать плавные анимации, но из-за этого страдает весь геймплей. Пока персонаж размахнётся, пока отставит ногу назад перед пробежкой, пока он встанет... Всё хоть и пластилиново, но выглядит симпатично, однако это мешает динамике и ощущается довольно "бревенчато". Да финальный босс лёгкий, только раздражает именно тем, что тебе постоянно приходится бороться со своим персонажем, чтобы подойти к боссу.
Это та самая игра, которая из-за руссификатора может вылететь. Та игра, у которой не работает оверлей Steam. Та игра, у которой вступительная мелодия орёт, не смотря на настройку громкости.

А так, игра вполне может понравиться фанатам Double Dragon. Здесь используется арт из прошлых игр, те же узнаваемые персонажи, те же самые мелодии в новых аранжировках. Уровни отсылаются к классическим играм, конвейеры, шипастые прессы, платформинг, двери высасывающие всех наружу. Такие же кринжовые диалоги. Такие же главные герои, двигающиеся как калеки.
Между тем, есть и интересные нововведения. Босс вертолёт прикольный. Оригинальная прокачка путём подбора тонн случайно выпадающих аудио-кассет.

Моя оценка 6 караоке на финальных титрах из 10.
Так то на вечерок, но за счёт прокачки подразумевает перепрохождения.

I am really mixed on this game. The game is worth 3.00$ to 5.00$ at most.

GOOD: They style of this game is fun and funny at times. Most of the combat feels technical and fun. All the enemies, aside from the flying ones which are rare, feel fair. The basic enemies all require strategy to beat. The boss AI are where this game really shines, even on harder difficulties. 2 player is amazing experience. As of 2025, this game runs great... I guess there was controversy at launch that this game does not run well... it is fixed. The level design is beautiful.

BAD: Even though this game dais remote play... your friend must own a copy of this game. I would only suggest playing this game COOP for fun.

It is fun enough at higher difficulty levels the combat is fun, but the leveling system feels like mobile game... it is painfully bad! You have to level up too many different stats and each of your spells. Really bad currency system, It is not the money but the ore you have to collect that only falls from bosses, but their are not enough bosses in this game.

There are only 10 levels and they all feel short too short with NO alternative paths or enough secrets for fun replayability.

Double Dragon Neon is a bold, self-aware revival of one of the most iconic beat ’em up franchises, developed by WayForward with the PC version handled by Abstraction Games and published by Midnight City and Majesco Entertainment. Rather than attempting to modernize the series through realism or gritty tone, the game embraces excess, color, and humor, wrapping classic side-scrolling brawler mechanics in a hyper-stylized vision of 1980s pop culture. The result is a game that functions simultaneously as a parody, a tribute, and a genuine attempt to refresh an old-school genre for a contemporary audience.

The narrative setup intentionally mirrors the simplicity of the original arcade games. Billy and Jimmy Lee once again set out to rescue Marian after she is kidnapped, this time by the flamboyantly absurd villain Skullmageddon and his army of themed henchmen. Storytelling is minimal and largely delivered through exaggerated cutscenes and over-the-top dialogue that revels in clichés rather than avoiding them. I haven't played Arcsys's take on this game yet, but this was the best one in the series at the time of release, which is like praising a turd for having the nicest shade of brown. All of the problems that you find in 90s beat em ups are still here, such as terrible, inconsistent collision detection and enemies with lots of invincibility frames. All of the modern additions to this game do not offset the lack of technical/design competence. I found it to be frustrating and not fun (played primarily on a PS3).

My favorite beat em up game. While not as complex as some of the other Double Dragon games it makes up for it with the style system and defensive mechanics. It also has better hit stun than the other DD games and the music is all bangers, no joke. I listen to Mango Tango - Neon Jungle all of the time as well as the Bomb Toss Mixtape track which someone has actually made a full version of on YouTube haha. Runs good on PC and the multiplayer still works so as a port it’s fine as well. Most of my hours for this game are on Switch.

Classic but flawed game. Fantastic music, silly 80's parody humor, and good combat, albeit clunky combat. Unfortunately, it's only 10 stages, has scuffed 3D models (even though the 2D illustrations are beautiful) and the upgrade system for mix tapes is grindy; there's still fun to be had and especially so in co-op.

10 years ago today I purchased this game.

Yet I still can't get this game to launch.

I've tried running it in compatibility mode, modifying the Engine.ini file and disabling all antivirus software, but the game still refuses to start. It briefly appears in the taskbar for a few seconds before vanishing, with no window opening.

I feel bad to give the game a negative rating just because of technical issues, but a quick check of the community forums shows I'm far from alone - many players are struggling to launch the game. It's understandable that older games might have compatibility problems on newer systems, but devs should maintain their game or at least provide practical fixes, rather than leaving players to guess and troubleshoot endlessly.

Como juego creo que es divertido y lo recomiendo, pero como beat 'em up no:

-Es muy lento, correr sólo sirve para avanzar porque entre que le das al botón y el personaje se pone a correr puedes ponerte a preparar la cena de mañana.
-Los enemigos parece que tienen vida infinita, cuando te atacan con un arma tienen armadura por lo que no puedes atontarlos en ese momento y te llevas un golpe que normalmente quita muchísima vida, pero tú tienes un botón para esquivar ataques de los enemigos, un esquive que no es inmediato y no cancela el combo por lo que, para esquivar ataques con armas de los enemigos y ataques de los jefes (cosa esencial para vencerles), vas a tener que no pegarles o usar un ataque especial que te da inmunidad y consume la barra de especial, barra que se rellena con el tiempo y se rellena muy despacio. Eso sí, esquivables esos ataques son, sólo tienes que tener suerte y que, cuando te vayan a pegar, pulses el botón de esquivar justo cuando has acabado la animación de ataque para poder esquivar.
-Abobo es el peor enemigo del juego porque tiene un ataque que le da armadura que hace mientras le estás pegando, por lo que te va a pegar sí o sí, a no se ser que esquives en el momento justo y hacia donde tienes que esquivar, cosa que menciono en el punto anterior.
-Tiene muchos momentos donde el juego deja de tener profundidad y el movimiento es en dos dimensiones, teniendo en cuenta que no puedes golpear a varios enemigos en fila hacia adelante de ninguna manera, estás en desventaja, en desventaja injusta. Algunos de esos momentos son muy guays porque como ves a los personajes de color negro entero y te ponen objetos delante que no te dejan ver bien a los enemigos, es variado y la variedad es buena... sí, claro, la variedad es buena cuando es divertida, esto no es divertido.

También he tenido una situación muy divertida donde un enemigo podía pegarme desde una línea horizontal distinta a la mía, pero yo a él no.

Por todo lo demás... la música está genial y los gráficos tienen su gracia. Cuando te pasas el juego te abren la galería de arte conceptual, muy, muy chula, dejando ver, además de los conceptos de los personajes y su evolución, varias builds del juego empezando en octubre de 2011, bastante bien eso. Al final de la galería te ponen un código que es inútil, porque "desbloquea" una función, una función que puedes activar en el menú de opciones desde el principio del juego, a alguien se le ha olvidado desactivar ciertas cosillas, eh.

The game doesn't feel related to Double Dragon, it's more like an imitation that for some strange reason wanted to make the main characters like Bill and Ted. The animation is irritating, the fighting is lumbering and unsatisfying. The level design is dull, and, in the end, I simply stopped playing. Side scrolling beat'em'ups have been my favourite games genre since playing Double Dragon and Final Fight in the arcades in the 80's/90's. This game will NOT bring back the nostalgia for those days!

Quirky in a distinctly Xbox Live Arcade fashion. Whilst combat can get a little samey, there's a lot of stage variety with a great soundtrack. City Streets 2 in particular. Funny one liners, a Skeletor impersonator and some wouldn't get away with it these days design choices.

Some tips: Turn damage display on in the settings so you know what actually hurts. Learn to roll. You can go back to most of the breakables with health items inside later. Upgrade one skill and one stance then stick with them. I agree, a beat 'em up doesn't need a perks system but it was the style at the time.

Not as good as Gaiden, but I was surprised by how much I wound up enjoying it. When I first picked it up, I was turned off completely. The combat is fairly slow, and I couldn't get the timing right on the moves available to me. But then I tried a couple more times and eventually fell into the swing of things. There's a lot more to the combat than there first seems to be, with lots of opportunity at any given moment.

The thing is that this pace lets the game challenge the player by making them think. You can't sprint right away; instead, you have to have a small lead up, which feels awful at first, but it makes sprinting a more conscious decision than it might be in other games of this type. That applies to most of the moves. There's a right time and a wrong time to use everything, and mastery over it feels pretty good. This is also one of the only games in the series with a dodge button as far as I know. A well timed dodge will power you up, letting you deal two times damage for a few seconds. It's all pretty solid stuff, even if it isn't my favorite combat engine.

The extra wrinkle the game throws in is mix tapes. You can pick up cassette tapes that are either related to your stats or to the special move you can perform. You have one of each type equipped and it can be fun to experiment with each move and stat combo to see what works for you. I disliked the grinding element though. You need to use items only obtainable from boss fights to upgrade the limit on how much you can carry; invest enough into a skill and you will be borderline unstoppable. But I never got more than four at a time, and you eventually need double digit amount of the item to upgrade a cassette. The developers expected me to be more interested in replaying the game than I am, so this is a mixed bag.

So is the presentation. At a glance, the environments look bad, but honestly, I thought they all looked great in motion. The game typically sticks with a motif for a couple of levels, which is nice even if the areas you go to are ridiculous (you're in space by level three, for instance). The character models look kind of bad, though. They all animate fine, but I really wish they developers had found a way to use the excellent 2D visual style seen in the concept art. Thankfully the sound is great; equipping different cassettes lets you listen to a short song on loop, all of which are fun, and the music that plays during levels is excellent, too. The credits song is ridiculous in a way the game's campy, somewhat obnoxious tone is going for.

This is a pretty solid game. Not my favorite beat em up, but still really fun and better than it seems at first.

WayForward has come a LONG way since this game. One of the worst things a beat em' up can be is painfully slow, and thats what this is. Do not invest in this game, even if you are a huge fan of the series. A much better game exsists called Double Dragon Gaiden Rise of the Dragons which I wish they would sink more time into than try to do what they did with this game once again with what Double Dragon Revive is looking and shaping up to be.

The aesthetic appeal is about all you get on this one. I am glad to see what WayForward has done to improve in the years since, but I would stand on the hill and argue that Double Dragon 4 even has this one beat. Go buy and play Rise of the Dragons and let this one gather as much dust as it can as just a simple stepping stone on the path to the heights of River City Girls and beyond.

动作不如2代和3代流畅，女性敌人较多，部分较强。

-Different environments.
-You can dodge attacks by rolling. If you time it right, you can do double damage, so it adds some depth .

The bad
-Graphical design is not good. Also, 2.5 characters in a sidescrolling game doesn't help.
-Hitboxes are weird,sometimes you expect your punches to hit...and they don't.
-There's an upgrade mechanic that seems good in theory, but there's ingame shops only in some levels and some of the upgrades are just useless.
-You can only play with one character.
-There are no extra modes

For Starters YES The game does still work, you need to go to wherever you've installed Double Dragon (Double Dragon Neon\bin) find the game icon in that folder and right click Properties. At Compatibility force it to run on Windows XP Service Pack 3.

I forgot how Crazy Fun this game is! The Whole Soundtrack is SICK! My favorite has to be Space Dojo and Lab 2, Even the Mixtapes are sick! I also love how this plays a little like Fighting games with combo attacks and getting huge damage boost when evading incoming attacks! Beating Skullmageddon on Double Dragon difficulty was no joke SUPER easy (And I couldn't believe it because I was getting my butt handed to me the whole game) while evading and gaining buffs because of it! Too bad no one plays it anymore, it is old after all but, man coming back to this was so much fun. I LOVE the funny voice acting and you can tell they all had fun.

比較詬病的地方，初始的方向鍵在鍵盤上的四個箭頭按鈕，需要玩家自行去更改成自己習慣的（例如wasd），修改方式，是在按鈕調整那邊，按Tab切頁，一開始真找不到，這邊寫給大家避坑。

其他很多熱鍵都有特殊的功能，其中換血（分血），一些特殊攻擊，都有不同按鈕。

除了4個方向，本作還有了蹲下的設定，可以閃避和使出一些攻擊方式。

Rescueing the spirit of the first Double Dragon games (particulary NES versions) this is one of the best games of the franchise. As a NES Double Dragon II and Super Double Dragon fan I feel grab attacks and parry block movements were left and could be added to Neon to make the gameplay more agile. This game is hard for one player but obviously playing as the whole Lee Brothers team is one of the best experience I ever had. Maybe the playable characters are a little slow and the control feels a little heavy and clumsy. Anyway, DDNeon is at least a 8.5 to 9/10 game, which be loved by Beat Em Up fans.

This game is CAMPY AF, but a good kind of campy.

The art style is questionable it's not for everyone.
Control is pretty good, and only a few small sections have that "Double Dragon 2" platformer section [which we all know doesn't work well in a beat'em up].

Neat upgrade system.
I can see it not being a fan favorite, but for what it's worth, it's a good first play. More fun if you got two bros at the command.

Only thing that was somewhat annoying is lives don't stack, but grind for cash and you can get lives on most of the stages and the game provides extra lives along the way ...for the most part of each level.

Music is S+ Tier - if you LOVE the 80's you will LOVE the music in this game.

Overall 7.5/8 out of 10 game.

A fun brawler that has minor RPG elements in that you collect 'tapes' to increase your stats and skills. It is recommended to grind the first couple levels to get yourself powered up some before advancing, else you'll have a hard time. It will not run on newer Windows operating systems without setting XP SP3 compatibility mode on the executable. It works perfectly fine on Linux.

It is a classic revamped in a fun way. It brings fun aspects from older double dragon titles while also introducing new mechanics and fun special moves. I feel that it aged fairly well for being a fun co-op beat 'em up game. The music is great, the action is fun, the humor is done well especially with the main villain. The only aspect I can criticize is that the game has the upgradable mixtapes and it is impossible to play the harder difficulties without beating the game on lower difficulties. I would just want to play a game with my friend on a harder difficulty without feeling the need to grind. I enjoy the game a lot and I would go out of my way to collect the mixtapes and do the upgrades to allow other friends to use what they want at an effective potential, but I doubt others would enjoy all the collecting. Overall, I love the gameplay and the combat is fun along with the lightheartedness of it all and the whole Rad 80s vibes it gives.

以前は普通に遊べていたのですが…。
調べると他の人も起動できない修正してくれという書き込みがあったので早く直すか原因を教えてほしいところです。

Billy et Jimmy Lee sont de retour dans une nouvelle aventure hommage au fondateur des beat’em up. Une fois de plus, la belle Marian a été enlevée par un gang de voyous. Les deux frères experts en arts martiaux devront poursuivre leurs ennemis dans les rues, à travers les campagnes, au plus profond de sanctuaires hantés, et jusque dans l’espace.

La formule classique reste la même, mais les graphismes ont été modernisés, tout en gardant une touche rétro très bande dessinée des années 80. Du néon partout, des musiques très typées de l’époque alternent avec les thèmes les plus connus des fidèles de la saga Double Dragon. Les autres clins d’œil aux épisodes précédents sont nombreux (retour des ennemis les plus emblématiques comme Abobo, Williams et Linda, personnages sur la carte semblables aux sprites de DD2, apparition de Bimmy et Jammy), et le dernier affrontement dantesque suivi du générique de fin ne pourront pas vous laisser indifférent !

Un bel hommage, un chouette jeu à finir seul ou à partager en toute confiance.

Game is about as fun as a hemorrhoid. Gameplay is slow and sloppy, weird enemy hitboxes, unavoidable attacks. Crashed about 5-6 times during the playthrough also. Are there worse beat'em ups? Absolutely. This is a solid 3/10... I couldn't wait for it to be over.

Is It Like The Old Double Dragon Games? No. But Do You Really Want To Play An Old Clunky Beat'em Up Where You Are Limited By Your Character's Skill Set?

Neon Is One Of The Best Beat'em Up Ever Made In My Opinion. Played It Multiple Times Through The Years And It Never Gets Boring.
The Gleam / Shine Dodge System Is Perfect For A Skill Based Approach.
The Mixtapes Are Great Addition To Make It Different.
The Only Complaint I May Have Is That The Training Wheels Mixtape Is Too Good.
I Do Not Feel An Incentive To Really Switch To Other.

If You Want To Experience How Good A Beat'em Up Can Be, Buy This One And Enjoy! :)

The gameplay - the action - is so slow that this seems like it was made for the elderly. Except I was 9 when I played the original on my Sega Master System - and it was more exciting than this.

Looks great, music is awesome, beautiful art but the gameplay doesn't make sense to me.

Having problems making it run? Find SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/doubledragon/bin/doubledragon, then right click on doubledragon and chose compatibilitymodus xp3. Now it works!

Uma típica paródia dos anos 80/90 com um toque de modernidade.
O jogo não falha em entregar uma pancadaria de qualidade e melhora sistematicamente os elementos clássicos da franquia.
As hitboxes são bem fáceis de entender ao contrário de alguns títulos clássicos da franquia, tem mecânicas de especial pra várias ocasiões, sistema de esquiva, entre outros elementos que tornaram a gameplay bastante divertida e bem desafiadora. Especialmente o último chefe, aquele esqueleto apelão dos inferno te tira uma barra de vida inteira em um combo só.
QUE DESGRAÇA!!! Adorei ele...
Dito isso excelente trabalho pra WayForward e pra Abstraction Games. TÁ APROVADO!!!
