It's got reasonable humor and it's got a lot of references and stuff to do (though the bulk of it doesn't come until "the end"), but for a JRPG it undercuts itself by the strength of the game being everything except the combat. The combat might be the worst design of literally any JRPG I've ever played other than garbage hard-type romhacks, leading to recurring tedium.

There are a lot of ideas put into the combat, but if you're at all observant, you'll find out that there are almost no actual choices to be made, most of them are objectively wrong and will make the game harder for no exchange. It's also underscored by an aggro mechanic that makes multi target magic difficult to use. There's also too few encounter types, formations, and variations in enemies to break up the combat, leading to that almost all combat is just the same things, over and over, without even really doing attrition math.

If you can put up with tedious, shallow combat, it's probably a recommend, because outside of some dated language use, the humor oscilates between meta and diegetic satire, and there's some interesting minigames and puzzles.

好玩...吗？放好多年了，之前数次启动失败是因为这个开幕实在有点看不懂在干什么，比起更传统更原汁原味的RPG，异世界穿越设定加上一堆乱七八糟的梗跟彩蛋显得很搞耍，但等接受了这个设定之后感觉也不是不能正常食用，因为脱了外皮毫无疑问这就是一个最传统最原汁原味的RPG，该有的东西一点儿都不少。

我最喜欢这个游戏的一点就是那种捉襟见肘的美。有些RPG全程不缺钱所以流程中不断替换下来的装备我都会留一件，这游戏是真有点缺钱，但又不至于把你卡在某个进度让你额外去刷级刷钱，全程都感觉自己捡了很多钱也打了很多钱，但每次进商店又差不多能花完甚至还不够，推着你去下个目标点。战法刺牧四人组，拉仇恨aoe打爆发加状态，每个人都很有用，升级加属性会给技能点，或者应该叫容量槽，容量槽限制激活的技能数量，并不是学会了就都可以用。

隐藏也很多，大部分藏的位置都很有趣。不太好的地方是剧情跟游戏进度有点不协调，主线推到最后一章的时候游戏进度才勉强过半而已，太多地牢各种大型支线等着去做了，不做属性就跟不上，这里的跟不上指的也是支线叠支线，至于主线剧情我也不知道到底有没有真结局，100%进度再进剧情也没看到触发什么新东西。还有第五关藏个分支真的很不友好，打赢剧情杀真就直接就把逃生部分的内容跳了，结果我去查攻略，发现更多人是在问错过剧情杀成就怎么办。

这游戏里很多技能释放时都有固定台词。雪山那一关刚好有个圣诞老人的boss，还带了过去现代未来三头驯鹿。未来驯鹿放技能时会喊一句“20xx年才会发生”，2034、2044，突然它喊了一句2024。
我就先把它打死了。

Jogo excelente! Bateu até um pouco de tristeza quando terminei. Recomendado demais pra quem curte RPG old school, da época do SNES! É possível terminar o jogo em menos de 30h, sem muito grind. Pra platinar leva mais tempo, e um pouco de grind (e também é bem difícil conseguir sem ler um guia pra saber onde estão os anões e os ultimetal). Enfim, recomendadíssimo!

Forced to take on the roles of their characters, they go on a long journey to find their DM, who's gone missing somewhere in the game world. The adventure is filled with jokes and references, ultimately reminiscent of playing D&D with friends. An absolute blast, basically if Knights of Pen and Paper was more like Final Fantasy game. Filled with tons of puns, nods and references to ALL the biggies, D&D, Final Fantasy, etc... [b]Story:[/b] It has a fair amount of self-aware/ironic jokes that made me chuckle on some occasions. It's not exactly memorable, but I had fun with its story.
[b]Gameplay:[/b] It's one of few RPGMaker games that have good combat mechanics and balance. The random encounter is somewhat annoying despite you could fast-forward by holding Left-Ctrl, although it becomes unbearable if you get stuck and have to walk around to look for the solution.
[b]Visual/Audio:[/b] It uses lots of stock/stock-looking assets, but it's being used properly. The audio is just okay, where I have no complaints or praise either.
[b]Other:[/b] This game runs okay on my Linux device. Although I had an issue where BGM isn't being played on some occasions.

I played on the easiest difficulty with only a bit of exploration/side-quest, but I had good time. If you play on higher difficulty or do all optional stuff, I expect your playtime will be much higher than mine.

Hmm, so overall, I guess this game is pretty good. It's not the greatest game ever made or anything, but it's pretty good.

[h1]Positives[/h1]

The game is going for a comedic tone, and, yes, many of the jokes are obvious surface level things that any idiot could come up with ("Whoa, isn't it crazy that this guy's name is Judas and he's obviously going to betray us?"), but it doesn't really feel lazy but feels more like if you have that one friend who's always joking around, and he's hardly ever going to make it as a pro comedian but he makes you a chuckle a couple of times and it's kind of fun, and the game's heart is certainly in the right place here.

Also, the game has a fairly interesting combat system beyond simply "spam attack until the enemy dies", because all characters' actions in combat are put on a timeline and you can see who gets the next couple of chances to attack, meaning you can anticipate if your team gets three attacks in a row or something, or you can see if you need to prepare for an onslaught from the enemy where you won't get a chance to act for a while, or you can try to split up the different enemies' actions by using attacks with the special property to knock the enemy it hits farther backwards on the timeline, or just whatever, and this is [i]just[/i] deep enough to keep the game fairly interesting for the time you're playing it.

Also, I feel like the game does a fairly good job with handling level ups and stuff, and leveling up is nice and necessary to progress in the game and everything but at the same time not SO absolutely critical that if you're one level behind everything just feels utterly impossible all the time, and a very large portion of how strong your characters are has to do with what abilities you know and what equipment you have, and you buy equipment at shops and learn abilities from trainers rather than gaining them when you level up, meaning it's not possible to miss out on these just because you didn't do enough fights, but when you make it to town X, the shop will be right there and you'll be able to buy the things you're supposed to have at this point in the story (unless you have no money, of course, but at least you would be [b]aware[/b] that you don't have the best equipment right now, whereas with levels it's hard to know exactly what level you were supposed to be and if you're underleveled for a certain area or not).

[h1]Negatives[/h1]

I will say, after I beat the game and was going for 100%, one of the guides I read said "Just play the game on easy, bro, hard isn't worth it", and I wish I knew that ahead of time (and I also wish I would have actually LISTENED too, because I know me, and I have to be too much of a macho man all the time and play games on hard or else I feel like a baby, and I KNOW I would have just ignored the advice even if I'd heard it), because seriously, hard is just cheap and pointless and not difficult in any meaningful way. I partially replayed the game on easy because I had to go back to get an achievement I missed and just wanted to get through the things I already did as fast as possible, and the difference between hard and easy is that on hard your entire party gets wiped out before you even get a chance to play half the time, so you have to go and put the speed character at the head of the party AGAIN to give everyone a speed boost so you can actually play the game before you die, while on easy you're actually playing a game that ISN'T just "Die And Put Francis In Charge Simulator".

Also, I feel like the game has trouble balancing fights and intentionally creating a certain level of difficulty, and as an example there's a certain boss in the game, [spoiler]the Flying Spaghetti Monster, which, by the way, confuses me because one of your party members casts spells by praying to the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and this doesn't change in this fight either, so why is the monster helping you destroy itself? But that's not really important,[/spoiler] and for this boss I genuinely feel like the random encounters in the area where you fight it are WAY harder than the boss itself, and those enemies can kill you instantly and force you to switch to Francis as usual, while the boss itself is reasonable and lets you survive long enough to have Mike cast his "heal the whole party" spell and from there you're basically fine as long as you can just keep doing it, and I was honestly super surprised how easy it was compared to other fights I'd done earlier, because my impression was that this was supposed to be the hardest boss in the game, and maybe that's true in terms of raw stats or something, but in terms of actual difficulty in completing it based on how strong your party will be when you actually fight it, in my experience at least, it just wasn't that hard, which was probably at least partly because it was a single enemy rather than multiple enemies, which is directly related to my next point:

The game is [i]really[/i] bad about handling fights with different numbers of opponents. I mentioned your party dying before you can even act, and do you know why that is? Because of the timeline system where different characters act in a different order, and if it happens to be the case that a bunch of enemies all attack in a row (which it typically is because although I don't really know how the timeline system works on a technical level, it REALLY seems to love setting things up so that at the start of the fight all of your characters' actions are bunched together and all of the enemy characters' actions are bunched together rather than mixing the two up), that means you're going to be taking 5 hits back to back with no chance to heal in the middle and so you just die, but for a single enemy since it will typically only get one chance to attack before you get a chance to act (the exception would be if it was WAY faster than you, because how frequently on the timeline a character gets to act depends on their speed stat and a very fast character can act multiple times before a slow one acts once, but 90% of the time the speed difference will not be THAT big), the only way for it to kill you before you can act is if it does 100% of your health in damage in a single hit, but that's so obviously unfair that the developers would never allow it, but 5 characters that do 40% damage each? Eh, that's okay, apparently. But honestly any fight with a single enemy feels laughably easy compared to any fight with multiple enemies almost regardless of how powerful the enemies were actually supposed to be, and a very large number of fights feel like once you've eliminated the first enemy and taken the total number down from, say, 5 to 4, the fight becomes so much exponentially easier after that point that basically it ended when that guy died and the rest was just clean up.

Also there's this weird aggro system in the game that's SUPPOSED to add some kind of depth to it or something, but what it actually boils down to is "Every enemy gangs up on Francis because he's the fastest in the party and therefore simply drew aggro before anyone else even had a chance to act. Francis therefore dies again. Alternatively, every enemy gangs up on Mike because he's the healer and healing is very powerful. Mike therefore dies again. Either way, everybody ignores Johnny no matter how much he spams his attacks that are specifically supposed to draw aggro to protect the weaker characters", and I just feel like the system does not at all work like it's supposed to, is all.

So, yeah, the game has some flaws regarding difficulty and some mechanics and junk, but most of these only matter if you're playing on hard. The core of the game is still good, so just play on easy instead (or maybe normal, but I never tried normal so I have no idea how it is) and everything should be fine.

尽管游戏做的挺有趣日式RPG风味也很足但是几个缺点还是太致命了
1.中文翻译稀烂到处都是错别字 +20 +30的字体完全重叠根本看不了一点不知道游戏有没有校对
2.难度曲线非常不合理群攻技能太少了后期碰上一大堆敌人比BOSS简单太多了而且游戏逃脱里面有一个超级长的8人车轮战我记得打了足足六轮真不知道这种数值怎么打
3.地图太大太空旷虽然很大但是90的区域都是无效区域还有山来阻止探索加上没有标记想探索也是晕头转向的
4.遭遇战的极度不合理虽然游戏带遭遇战是经典设计但是在大地图上出现是否有点? 这东西只能在实际小地图野外探索出现才合理而且除了某些地图就没有多少野怪
5.加点的意义不明为了携带尽可能多的技能点数几乎得到全78 那时候的数值早就碾压没了设计那么多技能有用的没几个
总的来说不是很推荐另外游戏还有个BUG就是切换到步行后无法返回跑步

I can not recommand this game. The story and charakters are okay. It has some fun moments. The game mechanics have some interessting aspects. But in overall this is just a typical RPG Maker game.

You see lots of the same assets you already saw in other games. Like the tiles for towns and the overworld seem very standard to me. The humor is sometimes funny, but most people do not have interessting things to say. Many people say the same things or dont even have dialogue.

What ennoyd me the most and is the main reason for my negative review. Is that characters in this game are asking you all the time to rate this game. And this startet very soon. I dont want to rate a game that I just played for about an hour. If this would have been a one time yoke it would have been fine. But meeting a person every 5 minits that ask you for a review is too much. I dont even wanna talk to most of the people in the game any more. Because I fear to much that they will just ask me again for a review.

The battle mechanic was 4 different stats. What I like about it is that the stats seem to me balanced. I am used to Dext beeing eighter useless or very OP. But in this game it seems to be well handled. It makes your turn order faster but not much. So Dext seems balanced to me. The others also have their advantages. You can choose which stats you wanna raise next. But if you take the same too often it gets expensive. So the progression system seems also balanced. Its not a very complex level system, but it is something new and different from normal RPG maker systems.

Unexpectedly well-made. The most fascinating part is pressing CTRL to auto battle. This really makes the game chillax as what so called in-game.

Pro:

1. elaborated & simple attribute system(Strong, Charm, Grit, Speed). Feel good when level up characters, and you have a little own space to choose what to secondly focus. Why secondly? Because the character's occupation is given at the beginning, not changable. For example, for ingame character Francis, he is a Ninja. Most of his equipment focuses speed and evasion so that you are inevitable to firstly focus Dexterity.

2. elaborated item attributes.
The fact most of the equipment specified to the occupations limits your build. But still you will have some equipments to make you struggled to choose which attributes for characters to secondly focus.
And the game maintains reasonable price and value of potions, equipments between different story chapters. Potions/equipments from shops just enable the survival of daily battles.
Those items from tasks/side-quests/secret places just smooth the battles in current or at best next chapter. They don't destroy the challenge in later chapters. And some battles can consume tons of your potion storage. The developers make most of those items necessary & useful. It is quite a successful game design.

3. simple auto battle mechanism using plain attack, which is useful to make you smoothly pass the first a few chapters, and will be useless once you go to afterward chapters as your enemies get stronger.

4. puzzles & secret places. secret places with high quality equipments/skills, which really gives good feeling when playing.

5. great view. Some of the scenes are really beautiful and amazingly they achieve that by just using original materials from RPG maker.

6. meaningful signs. You get significant hints before boss battles and in-game review promotions, normal hints for secret places.

Con:

World map is poor decorative & No fast move. The world map is quite big, sometimes I walk and feel bored.

No shortcut for complex world map scenes. Especially for the so-called Death Mountain.
The place contains forest, cave, village, and again forest, and all of them contains at lease 4 scenes. When you complete task, kill boss, no shortcut appears. Quite a flaw. The Death Mountain is the only way between two areas. You have to sufferingly pass all of those scenes when you want to go back.

I beat it once on android and It was good enough I bought it on Steam so I could play it through again on my Steam Deck. It's an easy play without having to get invested in some grand narrative or interpersonal relationships with dozens of NPCs. Just a light spirited RPG that makes fun of its self every chance it gets.

Giocai per la prima volta Doom & Destiny quand'era appena uscito, era sul mio cellulare e ci passavo il tempo fra i banchi di scuola. Non ero mai riuscito a finirlo, recuperarlo anni dopo è stato sia un tuffo nel passato, sia una soddisfazione personale.
Il gioco ha un umorismo molto semplice ma mai stucchevole, non esagera e sa bilanciare bene parodia e narrativa.
Sa avere le basi di un buon RPG classico e la giusta dose di citazioni e richiami.
Consigliato agli amanti del genere e a chi vuole un gioco con meccaniche semplici e tante risate.

Rating the game primarily to not end up like the one body who died from not rating the game. Very fun game though with loads of fun easter eggs, fun combat and strategy, and an entertaining world. Not a ton of online resources for the game that I could find so if you want to feel like the good old days before internet guides existed and you have to find things on your own, this is a pretty nice game for that. I love it!

I got this game on sale for I think just a few dollars, and I would even recommend it at $10. This is a light-hearted dungeon crawler-JRPG with a lot of parody/tongue-in-cheek writing, so people that like their main storyline serious and somber this may not be the game for you. The jokes can range from eye-rolling and cringey to actually getting a few chuckles out of me here and there, whether you like the writing or not is pretty irrelevant to the meat and potatoes, which is a pretty standard SNES looking JRPG. You'll have the same 4 characters the whole game, building on their base traits, while also having the option to level them in the way you would like, which gives room for player customization. For people who enjoy a long, challenging grind with tons of secrets and lots of side content to keep you busy, this might be up your alley. It took me about 30 hours to get all the achievements and get 100% in the game, and although it was arduous and difficult at times I still had a very fun time with this little RPG. If you're on the fence pick up on sale, there's a fun game in here even if you don't find the story compelling.

很高兴玩了第二次，第一次玩是在诺基亚lumia上。很怀念。基本上都忘了，又在游玩时发现这些东西一直就在记忆的角落。过早地自由探索+刷怪让等级和进度不符，居然和上次犯了同样的错ww玩第二部一定要按照剧情来享受。

很多秘密彩蛋，很对我胃口。
还有剧情前后npc的台词变化这些我也超爱看。

Hello friends,

Today I would like to review the game DOOM AND DESTINY. This is the original version of the game, as there are different versions of the game. This game is a parody RPG. It makes fun of many other games and pop culture things. The main games play like any other rpg's with side quests, and silly one liners with the parody silliness. There are also many secrets you can find in this game. The characters the main player chooses are already pre-made and made from another game the developers previous made in Italian. The game also has sequels and a remastered edition which improves on all the things in this game. Anyways, here is my PROS and CONS list:

PROS:

- A rpg based on older rpgs.
- Many parody jokes about other games and pop culture.
- The music is not bad and is fun to play to.
- Many secret rooms and areas to find.
- Lots of side quests to complete.
- Controllers works with this game. I used a Zen Pro switch controller. It even used the rumble feature, which i find odd for such a older rpg.
- Works on windows 11 operating system.

CONS:

- The artstyle might not be for everyone as it is likened to that of RPG Maker games.
- The corny jokes also might be not liked by everyone.

Do I recommend this game? To a certain type of person, this game is quite good. The corny and parody jokes can be quite funny. Again, if a player is more concern with graphics, they may want to avoid buying this game. Also, the player may wish to get the remastered edition as it adds more stuff to the game, and this is the original version of the game. If you do like this game, please make sure to check out the rest of the games in the series.

A mildly off-color humored RPG that pokes fun at itself, most TTRPG, ARPG, RPGs and still manages to be entertaining while being semi-technically sound and semi-well balanced. Don't grammar check me, i'm lazy, and writing this quick so I can get back to enjoying yet another playthrough of this game. If you have doubts, grab it on sale, though I feel it's worth more than full price.
