So, it does NOT run properly on any Windows 11 install. HOWEVER, for a game from 2012 that isn't a surprise. Dogfight 1942 is just as good a title today as it was when it first came out. It's not competing with games like Ace Combat or Warthunder, but it's an amazing title. If you enjoy WW2 planes and arcade style shooters, you'll really enjoy this game. The fact that it's one of the few Local Co-Op titles in the genre makes it an even better game.

This very quickly rose to the top of my favorite WW2 flying games due to it's superb aircraft handling and pacing, what other game lets you play The Battle Of Britain, Barbarossa, Midway, Tobruk, El Alamein, Kursk, Iwo Jima, and Berlin all in one? It even had other standouts like shooting down V1 Buzz Bombs in a Gloster Meteor, the assassination of Admiral Yamamoto, as well as the last stand of the Battleship Yamato! It's weird that you can't run it in fullscreen and have to use the launcher to set it to windowed mode, but besides that this is a titan in it's niche. I might be persuaded to think the reason there hasn't been a decent attempt at an arcadey WW2 flying game since 2012 is that this is the pinnacle that cannot be surpassed.
Game is outdated and does not support win 11 (you have to play in windowed) it's still a fun game with unique controlls but only buy it on sale.

Launch options and uncheck "Full Screen." Will only run on win11 in windowed mode. Mouse and KB controls are pretty squirrely. Controller is fun. Only get if on major sale.

Does not launch. Tried adjusting the settings in the pre-launch option and was able to get it to launch in windowed mode but I am unable to interact with anything with a keyboard or a controller.

Great arcade game, a fun easy end of the day dogfight with a WW2 context. Reminds me of the old C64 games which were super entertaining and addictive without be overly complicatied.
i got it when it was on sale its a good game used to play it on the ps3. also when u download the game their is a setting page u cant play the game on full screen it wont open so u have to change it besides that its a fun game

Não sou nenhum entusiasta de jogos de avião, nem sou amante de tais veículos. Dogfight 1942 é o primeiro jogo de avião que eu jogo na minha vida (batalha de avião no BF1 conta? kkkk). Este aqui, acredito que seja mais voltado para um público que busca uma experiência simples e não um desses simuladores extremamente complicados. As missões são variadas: temos escoltas, interceptações, bombardeios e constantes batalhas aéreas contra pilotos inimigos.
É complicado analisar um jogo de um gênero que eu nunca tinha experimentado antes, mas Dogfight 1942 é bem simples e bem divertido. A IA dos inimigos deixa a desejar e a campanha é curta. Os gráficos e efeitos sonoros são meio datados, porém a trilha sonora é boa.
O preço de R$ 32,99 está salgado, levando em consideração toda a simplicidade do jogo e o fato de que ele vende duas DLCs de história separadamente, cada uma custando R$ 10,49. Em promoção, Dogfight 1942 fica por menos de 5 reais — aí sim vale a pena, principalmente caso esteja buscando um game de avião com mecânicas acessíveis para quem não é entusiasta do gênero.

실행 하는데 이슈가 되었던 사항들과 나름대로의 해결책 적어봅니다.
1. 게임 실행 안됨 : 설치된 폴더에서 실행파일(Dogfight1942.exe)을 찾아 Windows 7 이나 Windows XP 호환모드에 체크하고 창모드로 실행.
2. 영어가 아닌 다른 언어로 표시됨 : 'Dogfight 1942 options' 실행 후 영어가 아닌 다른 나라 언어로 저장했다가 다시 영어로 변경 후 저장.
귀찮으신 분들은 설치된 폴더에서 'Config.xml'을 메모장으로 열어 아래와 같이 수정 후 저장하셔도 될 것 같습니다.

Very fun arcade style WW2 airplane combat game! The Sniper Elite style kill cam is also an excellent touch! I played with an Xbox controller and it worked quite well. Dogfight 1942 really shines during the naval missions.Not to many Airplane games include them and those that do don't usually do dive bombings or torpedo runs or rocket attacks and of those very few games that have all of those things, I can't think of any that actual do those things WELL except this game. Over it's a great game with good graphics, sounds, voice acting and story. And it's a must buy for any fan of the genre. Both of the dlc packs are great too. But, I'd say to wait for a sale as the game is only about 5 hours.

I like the Game but annoying is, that they don´t have a Joystick Support for a DOGFIGHT Game!
Even annoying is if you play with Xbox 360 contoller you cant do coustom configure.
I used the App "JoytoKey" to configure the joystick, because I´ve read that here in Forum (thanks for that), and that works pretty well.
So if you want to play this with a Flystick thats a little bit work, but after that you will have a lot of fun.

Performance Note: Recently revisited it on my Steam Deck OLED (installed on microSD). With some settings tweaks and Proton compatibility, it runs smoothly and looks great on the handheld screen. Didn't quite finish the campaign again yet, but it's been a blast revisiting these skies portably.
Verdict: Highly recommended for fans of arcade flight games seeking fun, explosive action with a historical coat of paint. Great solo, even better with a friend locally, and now confirmed playable on Steam Deck OLED.

lo malo, no se puede iniciar en pantalla completa, es necesario tener un mado por que con teclado es horrible, bajones muy feo de FPS apesar de que es un juego de hace ya un buen tiempo.
it works with some tweaking, switch off fullscreen and it works, the controls are JANKY sometimes its a challenge to control the plane
They don't make games like this any more, and that's sad. This is a fun, simple, arcade dogfighting game, and with remote play co-op, it's a ton of fun to play with a friend.
Plays great on the Steam Deck.
Runs in less than 1fps and always starts on wrong monitor regardless of any settings of the game or system....

Pas de gaité de coeur, mais je dois coller un pouce rouge à Dogfight 1942.
Graphismes et sons à la fois sympa et vintage, killcams de qualité, dialogues old school en mode plaisir coupable (Les US contre les "j a p s" ou "damned jappos"), mise en scène énergique et action immédiate : on sent le bon trip. On va même pouvoir customizer nos avions, et jouer en coop !
Hélas, peut-être dû à son âge, il ne se lance qu'en fenêtré et refuse de passer ensuite en plein écran avec le bons vieux raccourci (ALT+ENTRÉE). A la souris et au clavier, c'est injouable, quelle que soit la sensibilité ou le mode (arcade/simulation) choisi. Vomitif puissant, il vous poussera à chercher une autre solution :
Pas le joystick (il n'en veut pas...)
En branchant la manette, ça devient nettement plus agréable, mais atterrir est un calvaire, sans point de contrôle avant : c'est à dire que vous allez retenir votre souffle, doser au millimètre vitesse et inclinaison, KABOUM c'est le crash, et on recommence la misison, ou au moins la moitié. Ré essayer d'atterrir, CRASH etc. Ça peut durer longtemps.
Vous pourriez dire que je suis nulle, mais le problème est connu.
C'est donc à regret que je pose un pouce rouge en épitaphe sur sa pierre tombale : K.I.A (Killed In Action).
Mais on sentait de très bonnes vibrations derrière, étouffées sous les soucis techniques.
Ce n'est pas un mauvais jeu, il possède des qualités certaines, mais de là à le recommander, non.
Par contre, il mériterait un remaster !

結論：ゲーム自体はほぼNovote寄りだが、致命的なバグが修正されていないのでDownvote。
カジュアルフライトシミュ、というかシューター。
難易度Normalでバニラ本編クリアまで3時間超、うち1時間ぐらいは特定ステージでスタックしていたので実質2～3時間程度のボリュームか。
敵機はどこを撃てば弾が当たるかの大まかなマーカーが表示されるし、爆弾や魚雷も落下ルートが見えるため、割と素直に遊んでいればかなり楽。
敵からのダメージも極めて低く、攻撃を受けてゲームオーバーになることは(難易度Normalでは)ないと思う。
どちらかというと地形などに衝突したり、護衛対象を守れなくて、という方が圧倒的に多い。
歯応えが欲しい場合、各ステージに設定されたチャレンジ要素を埋めたり、☆5クリアを目指すのが良いだろう。
チェックポイントの配置にはやや難があるものの、1ステージはそれほど長くないこともあり、そういったスコアアタック的な遊び方も出来る。
他のレビューでも指摘されていると思うが、致命的なバグがあり、
①Englishで起動してもイタリア語になる→一度他の言語を選択して起動し、再度Englishを選択すれば直る
②地上の木が見えない→PCの時計を2012年より前に戻すと見えるようになる(ゲーム起動中にやると表示がおかしくなるが、クリアは可)
②が致命的になるミッションが1箇所あり、フォーラムの記事を読むまで解決不可だったので、ここが致命的なマイナス。
事前にPCの時計を調整した状態で遊ぶことを強く推奨するが、他のアプリケーション等に影響が出ないとは限らないので注意が必要かと。
「このステージ(時代)でこの機体？」みたいなのがあったり、ジオラマより密集している艦隊ばかりだったり、最後に[spoiler]ミズーリと大和が撃ち合ってたり[/spoiler]と、色々突っ込みたいところがなくはないものの、そういう細かい考証を求めてやるタイプのゲームではないのは明らかなのでそこは良いだろう。[strike]まぁ異聞帯みたいなもん[/strike]
安価で手に入れて週末にサッと遊ぶ分には良いだろう。その際には上記2つのバグへの対応をした上でプレイすることをオススメする。

It's a fun, short game. Out of the three Combat Wings franchise games on Steam this one has the most variety in missions, although the plane handling can sometimes feel too loose.

Deze game functioneert niet meer in windows 11.. Starte in eerste instantie wel op maar werkt op dit moment niet meer. Weet niet hoe deze game opgestart moet worden. Game wordt duidelijk niet meer ondersteund en de comunity pagina is dood. Beter niet kopen.

Fun and quick game. In my opinion it's a must play if you enjoy arcade type games. Considering It came out in 2012 I'd say the graphics aren't that bad. Of course they are not otherworldy, but I think it brings more charm to the game.
It took me just about 11 hours to get 100% achievements on it and I don't regret spending my time doing so.
Get it on a sale tho. I think 10$ is a bit too much.
Don't waste your money on a dogfight game that would only work with keyboard and mouse....
For an old game its alright, okay the co-op doesn't work which is only one achievement; but play is great, it's not buggy & its fun. Worth a punt on sale with the dlc.
Set the game controls to xbox controller and this worked great on steam deck.

This is a game about the underground dog fighting scene in 1942. I haven't played it much because I love animals-mostly just the cute ones that do tricks. The rest can go screw. But shout out to the ones that taste good.

This game is more fun than ACE COMBAT ASSAULT HORIZON. in game system is good but there are some minor bugs. The story may be slightly distorted. It is not much different from World War 2.

This game is hard to recommend as a standout title, but if it’s sitting in your backlog, it’s worth giving a shot. The gameplay is simple and something you can rush through without much commitment. It seems to work perfectly on steam deck now. But make sure to setup xbox 360 controls in the initial setup menue and arcade controls in the in-game menue. It's very hard to control in simulation mode as everything is TOO responsive. If you ever played this game on playstation, arcade controls will be very familiar to you.
The acting is cheesy but the game is incredibly fun. It plays a lot like ace combat. They really nailed it with the machine gun controls in this game. It's a simple, no frills action game that goes back and fourth between the USA and Britain. The expansions include the British Africa campaign and the USSR campaigns. The USSR campaign is the most enjoyable imo and probably has the best acting as well.

Played the entire game in a little under 3 hours with remote sharing in use and we loved it. Wish it was a bit longer but stll an overall great dogfighting game and there arent many out there.

To gra z 2012 roku i pięknie nadal się w to gra. To to takie wyjście CITY Interactive z gier kioskowych na bardziej ambitny poziom.
Bardzo dobry soundtrack, bardzo dobre modele samolotów. Można nawet polatać PZL Łosiem w DLC Afryka. Taki singlowy War Thunder i to sprzed ery War Thundera, do tego made in Poland.
Rozgrywka na split screenie także jest bardzo udana. Można z dzieckiem polatać albo wspólne misje, albo rywalizować.
Jedynie osoba, która zaprojektowała sterowanie myszą w trybie symulacyjnym powinna zapier..alać na galerze, bo już dawno nie spotkałem tak irytującego i mało rersponsywnego modelu sterowania i tak niemożliwego to zapanowania. W trybie arcade sterowanie myszą jest już bardzo przyjemne.

游戏画面不错，但是镜头摄像机设计有问题，在飞机左右摆动的时候，或者准星移动的时候，飞机后置的摄像机会随着准星移动而延迟摆动，这个问题会造成非常严重的晕动症，要不就是即时的移动，保持视点集中，要不就不要移动摄像机，但是这种延迟移动明显是摄影机镜头设计的缺陷，这是不符合人体工程学的，玩家无法坚持有玩下去，会产生头晕等不适感
游戏设置中也无法关闭这个跟随摄影机的延迟摆动，对于这么好的画面，这么多自定义游玩模式的游戏来说真是遗憾

PS3ソフトの「コンバットウイングス」そのもので内容も大差ないが、こちらは何故か日本語訳が未実装と言う軽微な欠陥がある。
ついでに同梱されていたソ連ミッションと英国（アフリカ戦線）ミッションがDLCで別売りに。
操作が非常に大雑把でアーケードゲームに近く軽い感じでプレイできる。
自分は連合国（特に米軍）派なので思いっきり楽しめたが、登場人物が平気で「当時の蔑称・差別用語」を言い放って来るので、その辺に敏感な人は要注意。
Picked this game up for <$2. I think for that price it is probably worth it. Just keep in mind this is a very generic dog fighting arcade game. Don't expect anything special.

Sea árcade o simulador de vuelo, debería poder controlarse con joystick, solo teclado ratón. A un bajando la sensibilidad al cero del juego, se mueve como una barquita en medio del océano, y la información del vuelo solo te la velocidad, ni la altura. Todo tiene su público pero este no soy yo.
It's a very fun shooter. I had it on PS3 back in the day and had completely forgotten about it. Playing it now it's still very fun.
