This game runs perfectly fine in Windows 11 with a pretty big catch. This game was built around 2011, a year Windows 7, and 8 still were the go to operating systems. When put on steam, Disney did not do any upgrades at all, so you must launch it using windows compatibility under properties on the game files. Not hard to do, and after testing this works perfectly fine. Launch using Windows 7 compatibility mode and you should not have any issues. Yes this means you are emulating hardware, but this is an older game now.

TLDR: If you're looking for a fun and chill game to play with kids, this is NOT it.

This is not the kind of game you can enjoy in coop, especially with a child. The game is overall OK when played alone, despite the dated graphics, simplistic level design and primitive combat. But when there is at least one other player, it turns into a tiresome mayhem that just makes you want to quit. And here's why:

1. There is friendly fire among players, and since your attacks have a large swinging motion or even a 360 degrees area of effect, you have to strategically place yourself in a way that wouldn't hurt your partner, which is a complicated notion for a child. But even when you’re careful, quite often you're forced to fight enemies on a small platform, where there is not much room to avoid hitting each other. As a result, half the time you end up killing each other, which is not much fun.

2. The enemies hit pretty hard for a game with such an obvious visual appeal to a younger audience. Even the little minions can spawn with a tier 4 weapon that practically one-shots you. And then there are the mini-bosses, which are quite tanky, pack a punch, and don’t offer a clear strategy to defeat them. You might eventually notice that the levels have bombs you can pick up and throw, but they don’t home to enemies, so you’re likely to miss most of your shots, and since they don’t deal much damage anyway, you might be better off sticking to your double jump AOE attacks.

3. The camera can be frustrating even in solo mode, as it always has a fixed angle, making some items or even your character obscured by the level’s geometry. But in coop, it zooms out trying to capture all playable characters in one frame, making it harder to navigate the levels and easier to confuse which character is which. Sometimes, a path leads towards the screen, so you have to walk it blindly, risking to suddenly fall off a platform’s edge that you have no way to see beforehand. Platforming is a totally miserable experience on its own, as the game’s graphics make it hard to gauge the depth of the character’s or platform’s position (i.e. how far they are from the screen), leading to many deaths due to missed jumps.

4. As if to add insult to injury, the game also punishes you for dying by making you lose some of that hard earned gold. Based on my observations, the penalty might be a percentage of your score (perhaps 10%), and at higher scores (around 1000) it can be a hefty sum, which is infuriating. Sometimes it’s just deducted from your score without giving you the chance to reclaim it. But even when it is dropped on the spot where you died, it despawns rather quickly. And since your death and respawning animations take too much time, most of the time you end up watching it all despawn before your eyes without being able to prevent that from happening. A truly remarkable experience, especially for younger gamers.

5. Lastly, in solo mode there are powerups scattered around the levels that you can strategically use to deal with big groups of enemies or mini-bosses. But in coop, for some reason, the powerups stop being stationary items that you can pick up, and instead randomly spawn and start following the players and activate upon contact. To “spice things up”, half the time they are swapped with debuffs that make you slow and more vulnerable to enemies, or downright kill you and/or take a portion of your gold. The cherry on top is that this happens totally at random, and often in the most inopportune moments. So, you might have to fight a mini-boss and a dozen of minions while simultaneously running away from a debuff that is chasing you, and then once you’ve defeated everyone, a powerup spawns when it is completely useless.

6. During all that chaos you have to somehow still pay attention to the task that you need to complete in order to progress. The text appears on the screen for a few seconds, and you cannot review it in the pause menu.

7. Last but not least, as seems to be standard with Disney games, the controls cannot be remapped, and the default controls for PC were likely programmed by someone who never played any game on PC and/or hates PC players. How else would you explain assigning direction controls to arrow keys, while having Space for jumping, C for attacking, and V for interacting? Totally unacceptable and deserving a negative review for this reason alone. Luckily, if you’re still inclined to try this game with a keyboard, you can create a simple script in an app called AutoHotkey and run it after launching the game. Mine looks like this:

d::Right
Numpad5::c
Numpad1::v

It might help you with the controls, but it won’t help with all the other issues that ruined my enjoyment of this game.

Conclusion: While this game is visually appealing to younger players, it’s far too hard, chaotic and overall frustrating to be enjoyed by them. And while the difficulty seems to be geared towards more seasoned players, I don’t think most of them would find the game’s design all that engaging. This is truly a mismatch between visuals and gameplay, which almost seems like false advertisement.

As someone who played this game religiously on the Wii as a young kid, and who just 100%'ed this version, its a pretty good and underrated game. I love the OST to death, the art design is gorgeous, and the level designs are fun and thought-through. The biggest issue this game faces are the fodder that you fight throughout the game, as they can swarm and taunt you to the point of mild frustration. I put off finishing the game just because of how annoyed I got at the constant waves I would have to fight through to complete levels, and especially to get high ranks on said levels. Regardless, I still had fun with this game.

'Disney Universe' is one of those games that takes me back to my younger days, when I had fewer worries. But like many nostalgia-inducing games that I foolishly decide to revisit, I ended up deeply disappointed. And not because of the game itself, which is still fun, but because of the terrible state it’s in.

Just like other childhood games I’ve found on Steam, I ventured to replay it on the platform to relive those great moments. But all I found was a game in a deplorable state, where even getting it to start feels like an adventure. And sure, I’d had some issues with other Disney games on Steam before, but this one was just too much. Incompatibility with the operating system, audio problems, resolution issues, constant crashes, bugs, and glitches, an absolute nightmare just to play the game. In the end, after tweaking some game files, I managed to make it playable, but visual bugs would still pop up at times, making the experience unbearable.

In the end, I did finish the game. Still, the experience was so frustrating that I’ve decided not to recommend it. Just like I did with Toy Story 3, I strongly suggest emulating the game instead to enjoy a better experience, with a complete and free product. Honestly, it saddens me that companies treat their own works this poorly.

This game was my childhood for years, I used to come home from school every day and load this up on my Xbox 360. Decided to try and run it on my PC. But beware, PC Players! Completely unplayable on Windows 11, far too laggy and has made my PC crash constantly.

This game is in dire need of bug fixes, but as it seems the developers have given up on more fixes, sadly this one's gonna have to be refunded, which is a damn shame.

Ein sehr Schöner Anfang den hier man versucht hat, grad wenn man bedenkt das es das erste Portal Spiel war auf einer Konsole wo man noch Figuren kaufen musste im Geschäft um hier die Bestimmten Charaktere Frei zu bekommen zu können.

Hier hat man zu Gleich alle Figuren zwar vorhanden muss sie aber Freispielen und einige müssen im Spiel freigeschaltet werden um diese auch Spielen zu können für die man bestimmte Gegenstände haben muss oder in bestimmten Missionen Gegenstände Farmen muss. Es macht Spaß auf für große nicht nur für kleine den hier ist genug Witz vorhanden das jeder es Spielen kann.

I used to play this game on the Wii when I was a kid, and honestly, I didn’t think it would still hit the same now, but here I am in 2025, having an absolute blast with it all over again, i found it randomly on Steam, saw it had all the DLC included, and bought it instantly, no regrets at all, disney Universe is still such a fun little gem. It’s not perfect, let’s be real. The gameplay is simple, even a bit clunky at times, but it’s that kind of game that just focuses on being pure fun. You run around in worlds based on Disney and Pixar movies, smack enemies, throw stuff, unlock costumes, it’s chaotic in the best way, honestly, it brought back the same feeling I had playing it on the Wii, just laughing with friends and messing around. The costumes are still my favorite part. Tons of them, each with their own abilities, and you can upgrade them as you go, playing as Stitch in a Tron style suit while fighting robot pirates in Agrabah ? Yeah. That’s the kind of nonsense I love. Played local co op with a friend and it was a total throwback, the levels are varied (Monsters, Inc. and Pirates of the Caribbean are standouts), the music still holds up, and the whole thing just has this nostalgic charm that’s hard to explain if you didn’t grow up with it, the PC version runs fine, you might have to tweak some settings to get proper fullscreen or better resolution, and I highly recommend playing with a controller, but once that’s sorted, it’s smooth. And the fact that it includes all the DLC is awesome, more costumes, more content, more fun.
It’s not a game for everyone. But if you want something lighthearted, something to chill with, something that brings back that old-school couch co-op magic, this is 100% worth it !!

Am crezut ca e un joc mai fain, dar e destul de slabut si simplu...
Gameplay-ul e asemanator cu seria LEGO fiindca tot cam aceleasi lucruri trebuie sa faci sa treci mai departe (doar ca asta e mult mai rau) si are doar cateva butoane de utilizat, sarit, atack, unul cu care prinzi lucruri + sageti. Nici nu te lasa sa schimbi butoanele, sa le pui ♥♥♥ vrei tu, dar nu ai nici o obtiune pentru asa ceva... La inceput am colectionat aproape tot de pe harta, dar dupa ce am vazut cat de mediocru e, am mers pe repede inainte doar sa il termin cat mai repede.
Grafica ce ar fii punctul foarte al acestui joc, e destul de faina si colorata.
Nici ca poveste nu e nimic special...
Poate ca e mult mai interesant in Co-Op, maybe, dar nu in Single Player...

I know this game is quite old now & they probably wont bother too much about updating and making it better etc.
But I Would love if this game had an update where you could at least un-cap the frames and maybe even just make the graphics a tad bit better.

this game was my childhood and even playing now again it is still so much fun!

Por algum motivo ele trava até crashar de vez e fechar o game, parece que quando se conecta um controle via USB há um bug e tem mais relatos nas avaliações.

O Disney Universe é bem divertido mas quando ele não está travando.

Juego de mi infancia. Es la simpleza de Disney llevada a un juego. Es genial tanto si vas solo o con amigos, para todas las edades.
El juego trata de un parque de diversiones ambientado en Disney que fué corrompido, teniendo que ir tu, recorriendo todo el parque luchando contra robots y rescatando gente que quedó atrapada en esos mundos.
Una pena que el DLC de Phineas y Ferb se haya quedado en Xbox, ya que podrian añadir muchos mundos mas de otras IP de la compañia.
Teóricamente ya arreglaron los crasheos que otras personas tenían con éstos juegos antiguos, pero si aun asi te pasa, hay bastantes guias en como solucionar todo eso (o si nada te funciona, recuerda que puedes pedir un reembolso).

Game would not work for me, I tried all kinds of different things and it just wasn't optimized enough for PC play, such a shame because it would have been wonderful to stream a retro game!

Um jogo infantil mas que me trás muita nostalgia jogar hoje em dia. As fases são bem diversas, tem uma lista muito grande de personagens diferentes, tem muitas mecânicas, você relembra cenas específicas dos filmes clássicos, é muito divertido e gostosinho de jogar. O único ponto negativo é que poderia ser um pouco melhor o sistema de vida, que não te dá muita precisão e o hitbox é um pouco estranho, mas é um ótimo jogo pra jogar no tédio e passar o tempo, principalmente se for jogar com alguém.
