Seeing as how unique this looked, and fun the gameplay I found online seemed (to state nothing of the sale), I grabbed this without hesitation on the same day as Antichamber. Much like that game, this one left a void in my being on doing everything within that only time covered, without filling.

It's a very short, but difficult puzzle-platformer played like an FPS. The game can be completed in less than an hour, but my initial run took almost 4 hours.

It's got decent re-playability. There's multiple paths in the main story mode that you may be willing to explore once you beat the game for the first time. Places you couldn't access in the beginning are now doable. Not because it was impossible before, but because you've come so far as a player, mastering all the tools you've been given so far. Even if you don't care about the exploration in the game, there's still a drive to best your previous time across the story mode. You don't always know if where you're at in the map is where the developers intended for you to go or not, and that's great. This reminds me of Mario 64 Speedruns, where players intentionally find new ways to play the game, way beyond what the designers could account for.

This game really is about the reward, not so much the journey. The journey could be frustrating at times, but the payoff of getting to the top, and then going through and playing it again when you've become super quick and coordinated: you truly feel a sense of progression and satisfaction after it. Then it becomes easier to appreciate just how mind-bending some parts of the game are. Being a shorter game, I feel the experience of a big payoff is more accessible. I don't think this game will ever grow beyond this single title and I can't justify spending the non-discounted price of $10. But there's definitely a place for this game and it happened to ring well for me.

If you resonate with this review, definitely give this game a shot. I've heard this game could've been snagged for $2.50. If you can get it for that price, you're guaranteed to have a good time

Kind of a floaty platformer. Has obvious speed run stuff going on but they also have just a good number of little things to simply find and rewards taking your time to look around for, which I appreciate. I'm more of an explorer than a speed runner and just really enjoy looking around.

游戏难度曲线过于夸张
一共分为5个章节，前两个章节的通关用时在20分钟内
从第三关开始游戏的难度跨越会非常之大，加之游戏的弱引导对于一些路痴和手残玩家来说可以用灾难来形容
而且游戏的射击部分也可以用一塌糊涂来形容，对于一个即时弹道的游戏给一个瞄准真的有用吗？
好在游戏对于解密和跑酷的融合可以用恰到好处来形容，冲刺和跳跃以及腾空遨游在天空的那份爽感可能是其他游戏都无法做到的

무언가 다른 게임들과는 확연히 다른 느낌의 점프가 처음에는 불편했지만 플레이 할 수록 익숙해졌다

게임을 진행하다보면 두갈래 길이나 세갈래 길들이 나타나는 데, 어떤 경로를 따라 가던 결국 꼭대기에 다다랄 수 있으나 진엔딩을 보기 위해서는 모든 경로를 들려야 한다

중후반 부터 나오는 보라색 중력장은 정말 공중 곡예를 하도록 만드는데 매 시도마다 더 못하게 되는 듯한 기분을 마음껏 느낄 수 있도록 해준다

모든 적들과 스위치들이 원을 맞춰야만 비활성화 / 활성화 되기 때문에 에임이 안좋은 나에게는 상당히 고역이였으나 미래적인 디자인에 매료되어 계속 플레이했었다

플랫포밍 게임을 즐기는 사람이라면 그다지 어렵다고 생각되지 않을지 모르겠으나 개인적으로는 재미있게 플레이 한 게임이었다

玩上几关，感觉我就是个做飞行员航天员的料

攀爬漂浮在空中的通天巨塔，在超大尺度，充满各种机关的地图中进行空间体验，画面精美，非常有趣的（极限运动？）游戏。

虽然只玩到第二大关，但是已经感受到鬼畜的难度了~~下面看到有把它和传送门比较的评论。仅就难度而言，这个远大于传送门。游戏中起跳后滞空时间很长，而且可以在空中控制自己移动的方向，而传送门在空中按下方向键对运动方向影响不大。所以当面对一些需要连续动作才能通过的关卡，传送门里只要关注手里的枪朝哪打洞就行，而这个游戏就必须兼顾各个方面，起跳时机，方向控制，射击需要激活或是关闭的机关，射击来捣乱的敌人。。。

游戏有五大关卡，每关中通过收集隐藏物品来解锁小的独立关卡，隐藏物品在常规路线上看不到或是摸不着的地方，所以可能需要反复探索。游戏中每隔一段距离会有检查点，抵达检查点就可以返回去作死找其他路线和物品了。因为是“爬”的游戏，你甚至可以纵身跳回这关开始的位置。开发者好像在社区中提到短时间里不会有地图编辑器，所以已目前有的关卡数目，10刀值不值就仁者见仁了，反正现在打折只要4刀。或许以后会有DLC增加关卡数目。

游戏很棒，至少很对我的胃口，至于后面关卡的难度会不会让我放弃，变成喜加一还不得而知。。。但是缺少重力感，少了一点身处云端摇摇欲坠的感觉。

DeadCore est un platformer atypique et prenant, avec une proposition pertinente et une pure tronche en terme de DA.
Au level design agréable, bien rythmé et pratiquement jamais frustrant, s'ajoute un bon sentiment de progression ainsi qu'une forte rejouabilité. Utiliser l'arme est plaisant, ça répond bien. Bref, y jouer est un pur plaisir. J'aurais aimé une gestion des ennemis légèrement différente, dans le sens où esquiver le laser des sentinelles est un peu bancal, mais franchement c'est okay.

L'OST est géniale, ça faisait des années que j'écoutais la gigantesque piste "The Ascension", qui en elle-même est déjà ultra mémorable ; mais mise dans le contexte du gameplay et de son niveau final, on atteint un taux de badasserie assez criminel ! Il se passe quelque chose de fort quand on joue à DeadCore, et c'est globalement tout ce que j'attendais du jeu : pari rempli !

J'ai pu noter quelques minimes soucis de hitbox, la vue FPS donnant régulièrement l'impression qu'on aurait dû passer un obstacle sans encombre (satanés murs lasers !). La caméra qui fait des 180° sur deux axes en même temps est parfois bien déstabilisante. Deux-trois bugs de clipping et de collision, mais rien de particulièrement problématique. Je n'ai pas eu l'envie de 100% l'histoire et les niveaux speedrun, mais ils valent le coup si le jeu vous a plu !

Класний тривимірний платформер. Проходиться за 4-5 год(якщо не ставити за мету вийти на "істинну кінцівку", що вимагає повторного проходження гри з декотрими нюансами).
В цілому гра не є дуже складною, але декотрі моменти можуть викликати справжню злість.

DeadCore is a good, challenging platformer. You can either take it slow or try a speed run and in this game I almost enjoyed doing speed runs. Personally, I don't like to be under time pressure in platformers, but the levels in DeadCore are well built.
They are not empty levels either. There is lore, collectibles, enemies and mechanics that are added during the game.
I just didn't like the look as much as I used to. Either you ignore the point or it doesn't bother you.
The price seems reasonable to me as you get enough playtime out of it and otherwise you can wait for a sale.

It is not a game for me. BUT

The game seems well designed with platforms that often has multiple approaches to it with various collectibles to seek, of which most will be scattered in a place you might not have gone for normally.

You can play again to speedrun it faster than before.

It is not a game for me and I shouldn't have purchased it but it doesn't change that it is a good game for what it is. And I won't downvote it for the game not appealing to my personal taste, that is on me to purchase it. Buy it if you like this kind of gameplay

DeadCore is a platforming game that has a lot of potential.

The gameplay is first person speedrun platforming, similar to Neon White, which undoubtedly iterated on the ideas DeadCore had. Unlike that similar game though, DeadCore is brought down by lackluster level design, and bad enemy design. The courses in platformers are meant to first and foremost be puzzles about how to get from the start to the end of the course, but DeadCore has an over-reliance on "pixel perfect" movement to clear the course at all. The enemies are very annoying (mosquitoes appear to be called that for a reason), and take way too short of a time to regenerate after being shot. These aspects bring down the game by making it intensely frustrating, despite it otherwise having really good movement and sense of momentum.

Overall, despite not being recommendable, the game is still worth playing if you are interested in said potential. The downsides for me might be upsides for you! I wish the devs luck on whatever games they make next, and am excited to see what becomes of their potential.

Прошёл основную "историю" за 2:26:xx.
Играл в эту игру много лет назад, когда она была ещё в альфа или на очень ранней стадии. Помню как очень бесился во время прохождения, когда не получалось пройти некоторые этапы))) Так её и не прошёл, обидевшись на неё (свой лоускилл) и удалив. Но вот, я решил зайти в неё снова.
Тогда мне игра казалась гораздо сложнее, но и сейчас она не прям-таки казуальная. Есть некоторые бесячие этапы и механика с гравитацией - полный п...ц, камера крутится совсем непонятно. В целом геймплей не слишком напряжный
За всю игру я собрал лишь одно улучшение, больше нигде их не находил, а их с несколько десятков со всех уровней..
Вроде как в игре есть сюжет, какие-то Логи можно собирать, но так как я нашёл их лишь штук 5 из десятков, я также забил на это.

This game is sick and is highly recommended. BUT.

Any level that has the little flying dudes goes from super challenging, mind warping, quick-reflex demanding fun to "Teehee, what if we have little dudes blasting at you while you balance plates on your head?"

The platforming challenges are soooo cool. Every section with those little dudes made me want to rip my hair out.

After having beaten it, still feel it was a sick title; ammunition restriction and enemies do markedly bring the experience down, but not enough for it to make all the cool puzzles and platforming not worth playing.

This work lags even in 250 FPS.
I guess physics engine run on 50 ticks per second because stutter is only observable when player moves in space (WASD and jumps). When the you is standing still, and just look around it feel like decent 250 fps.

I dont want to play this game because it fels so glitchy.

The game doesn't offer a interesting premise or story so you might want to play it only if you are just looking for a challenge, some pretty polished gameplay mechanics, and an interesting aproach to level design.

[*]For some reason the game wouldn't close and I had to force it with ALT+F4.
[*]The game gives you the story/lore through "logs" that you have to find across the different levels and that require you to explore since some are not always right in your way as you try to complete the levels. I personally don't like this way of giving lore since it's the main way the game does it appart from 2 cutscenes.
[*]There's no way to reset the progress ingame, you have to delete the save file in the game folder.
[*]The "propulsion" mechanic requires too much precision to get a complete boosted jump correctly, might be good to have the "window" for it a little bit bgger to make it more smooth for the players.

I'm not really that into this kind of videogames but this one it's quite good and felt really welcoming if you plan on beating it at your own pace without caring that much about setting records or being the fastest of the fastest. I you like this kind of a little bit more challenging platforming games you'll like it even at it's full price, if that's not the case you might want to wait for a sale and get it for around 5€.

Очень атмосферный 3d платформер с прекрасным управлением. В целом, полное прохождение игры (true ending) требует не столько скилла, сколько знания расположения секретов. Однако, ее можно, и я считаю, для начинающих даже нужно, проходить, не заботясь о времени и секретах и собирая их по желанию. И, чем эта игра хороша, что такой подход в ней возможен и даже поощряется. Вы можете идти медленной дорогой, а можете найти секрет и пойти быстрой (но тяжелой) или не пойти. Здесь частые чекпоинты и быстрый рестарт, а само прохождение уровней поощряет быстрый пробег. В итоге, когда вы останавливаетесь на сложном участке, и в итоге он у вас получается, вам не просто удается его пройти, вам удается его пройти [i]быстро[/i]. И так каждый этап. В итоге, несмотря на число попыток, игра ощущается fast-paced, вас поглощает момент. Но есть в ней и моменты рефлексии, стоя на краю ничего, окруженный пустым небом и далекими облаками, идущий выше с неизвестной целью, просто потому что это единственный путь - в этом смысле это еще и довольно медитативный experience. Однозначно рекомендую - на мой взгляд лучший 3d паркур как для новичков, так и для любителей жанра.

A solid first person platformer with decent movement and fun platforming.

The platforming steadily increases in difficulty at a reasonable pace, and new mechanics are slowly introduced and then combined as you climb through the levels. I appreciated that most of the levels had multiple routes to take, and slightly related I am very glad there were no invisible walls to be found anywhere, and all the objects in the game had full predictable collision i.e. anything you can reach you can stand on and there's no janky terrain designed to keep you from climbing/standing on it.

Basically no story to speak of(there's lore notes to collect, but that's it)but you aren't playing this for the story; nobody plays mario games for the story either though so whatever.

Overall would definitely recommend if you like first person platformers.

不过这游戏不用汉化也能玩，其实就是平台跳跃+射击游戏。
平台跳跃苦手，一失足而成千古恨啊！

If you just want to be mad at stupid level design 90% of the time - this game is for you. The movement is fluent and very well made, but some of the "puzzles" require you to orient yourself for directions, obstacles and enemies while upside down flying midair. Oh and there's a lazer wall that will kill you if you don't react in a splitsecond so leave some of your attention for that as well. Basically in some levels you have .1 second to figure out gravity change, obstacle and direction of next platform at the same time. If you fail you either fall and die or some lazer wall kills you or one of the stupid cubes pushes you away.
This could've been a fun game. An it was for a while. But at some point it's just 99% annoyance and 1% enjoying the puzzles. And I'm a guy who loves puzzle games....

This game is good for those who like to mess around in a sort of sandbox, with many darksouls esk trials (Can only know how to do something right by dying) and those who like to compete in speed-run time trials. There seems to be lore scattered around for those interested in the lore. I would usually be one of them but i failed to retain any interest because i find the genres they aimed to hit all in this one title too naturally opposed to gel, it was like the game was trying to get me to relax whilst placing me in a burning room.

They delivered on the "exploration" part of the game if you count exploration as the different paths you can take that will try to kill you in different ways, but to actually explore the different pathways would mean to replay the game over and over.

This isn't my game, it hurt my soul towards the end and i am glad to put it to rest. Bare in mind their interpretation of exploration, forget immersion, the rest of the title holds up to be true.

I would give this a neutral review if i could, but as this entire piece is my opinion, and it's not my type of game, so the thumb goes towards the floor.

Game starts really nicely. Interesting mechanics though I felt the movement was pretty rigid. Air control left me frustrated.

The difficulty ramp-up is pretty intense, at least enough for me to not bother with finishing. If the movement felt more controllable I most likely would've stuck with this one. In general, it could definitely do with a smoother ramp-up, even if the overall difficulty is the same.

Ca faisait déjà longtemps que ce jeu me faisait de l’œil, j’en avais déjà vu des vidéos notamment de Benzaie qui m’avaient bien plu à l’époque, et depuis que je l’avais acquis, je n’avais encore jamais osé le lancer, pensant qu’il serait trop difficile peut être, et que je ragerai dessus. Qu’elle n’est pas ma surprise de voir qu’après un run de 3h37, j’ai fini le jeu sans trop me casser les dents dessus. J’ai certes passé certains passages après plus d’une dizaine d’essais, mais jamais beaucoup plus, et le jeu ne m’a jamais vraiment frustré. Je me suis plutôt senti doué dessus, ce qui n’est pas souvent le cas sur les jeux, et je m’en suis senti assez fier. Passé mon expérience, je me retourne vers DeadCore avec un sentiment d’expérience agréable. Le gameplay est précis, et la rapidité des actions, agréable à prendre en main. La touche de réapparition rapide permet d’enchainer les tentatives sans temps mort, le tout rythmé par une musique électro bien sympa pour le coup (je me suis prêté à écouter toutes les musiques que j’avais débloqué dans le jeu). Bon d’ailleurs, je n’en ai pas trouvé beaucoup car je me suis contenté de faire le jeu en ligne droite, et je ne me suis pas mis à fouiller partout pour trouver logs et musiques, mais j’en ai quand même ramassé quelques uns sur mon passage. Un petit point un peu faible peut être, c’est parfois l’aspect « réflexion » qui fait que on ne sait pas trop où aller. Quand ça arrive quand on est posé, aucun soucis, mais si c’est après 45secondes de déplacements dangereux, et qu’on meurt 3-4 fois juste parce qu’on n’a pas vu par où aller ensuite, je trouve que ça casse le rythme et donc que le lvl design n’est pas toujours des plus parlants. En tout cas, bonne expérience, je vais juste me tenter le premier niveau en speedrun, et passer à autre chose.

Deadcore is interesting and a decent attempt at a 3D platforming/puzzle game. Some parts of it are flawed, but I would say the overall experience is worth it.

DeadCore hasn't aged very well.
I picked this game up in 2015 and enjoyed it well enough to come back to it through 2016, but lost interest for reasons I don't remember. Coming back to it in 2024 for achievement completion, having already beaten the campaign at least twice, I realized why while starting to grind out the speedrun developer times.

The core game design is good, it's very satisfying to execute and leads the player to learn new mechanics as they go without throwing them in the deep end. Visual style is a little gaudy to me now - I love some good maximalism but the gritty textures and lighting really make my eyes glaze over when most of the game consists of heavily greebled floating cubes and shapes placed against a dense sky full of special effects and laser grids. The purple gravity fields are especially bad, the vibrant color making it hard to pick out upcoming obstacles and determine the path forward. It's still pretty out of the ordinary, though, and worth taking inspiration from.

The issue comes with the consistency of the physics and mechanics. When trying to push completion times in harder areas I quickly remembered that this game is coated in a metaphorical inch-thick layer of [b]jank[/b]. Boosters will [i]sometimes[/i] eat your double jump with no explanation. Dashing into boosters [i]sometimes[/i] makes them give you way less height than intended. The blast rocket jump [i]sometimes[/i] gives you way more height than the pitiful bump it normally does. It's not just my timing - brute forcing some of the backer levels I noticed this happen too many times for it to be pure skill issue. A lot of the level design is very cycle-based, and cycles do not jump back on death, so [i]sometimes[/i] you have to change your entire strategy just for starting a section at the wrong time. The collision for floors is simultaneously very picky and very lenient combined with the modelling of geometry; [i]sometimes[/i] you can jump off a wonky piece of geometry or push yourself up a missed ledge, but [i]sometimes[/i] you slip off what should be a solid flat platform and get stuck in the over-designed structuring beneath it.

On top of that, the enemy and obstacle design is irritating as hell. Enemies move erratically and their stun timer isn't reset when shooting them again. Most enemies bump you way off course in unpredictable ways, but often are placed in groups that discourage you from neutralizing them. The red laser zones which do kill you (making you go back to the last checkpoint) are placed in fun and challenging layouts, but the player hitbox is larger than you'd expect, making it feel disjointed in an unfair way.

I don't believe [url=https://www.indiedb.com/company/5-bits-games]5 Bits Games[/url] has made any other games to this day unfortunately - it's likely they dissolved after porting DC to consoles or got absorbed by Bandai Namco. It's a shame, because this game was their first major project dating back to 2012, crowd-funded and maintained for a good while, clearly an honest studio with potential.

DeadCore is worth picking up on sale these days primarily for its main campaign. I wouldn't recommend playing it past that - the secrets are nice and there's some replay value in optional paths, but trying to 100% it takes all the fun out.

Found this one through Steam. Neat spacious 3D platformer. Environment/feel reminds me of Tron.

Took me 8 hrs to finish story mode, in the middle of my expected range of 4-12. One difficulty setting, but it's challenging. There are a handful of levels, each of which took me a little over an hour. There are multiple checkpoint platforms per level for saving progress. When I came across a new puzzle, my methodology was "plan, practice, perform, perfect." Sometimes things happened so fast there wasn't time to plan or practice. But there was always time for "perfect": I got really good at the parts right after each new checkpoint. Other times I found a simpler way so that there was a final step of "prune," which is probably more common in the speed-run mode.

Minimal controls. WASD + space for movement, mouse for look and shoot. E is dash and R respawns from the last checkpoint.

Similar games are [i]A Story About My Uncle[/i] and [i]Magrunner: Dark Pulse[/i] due to the platforming mechanics and spacious levels. The engine felt like UT2004 (especially double-jumping), but they may not be related.

Like [i]Portal[/i], the player has a gun to control the environment, but this one flips switches and stuns enemies. Enemies are Troopers who use pulses to push you and Mosquitoes who slow you down and sap your powers. The Teen rating feels high to me, but these things and also how the character can disintegrate into a fountain of red pixels on death might be where it comes from.

The gun re-energizes at checkpoints. Gun has 30 energy, which can be spent one at a time with shots or in short bursts when you get the Blast ability. And that 30 energy is all you get until the next checkpoint! The Dash ability has a cooldown as well, but I could usually get in two back-to-back.

Learning the game can be tricky. I didn't see any formal instructions or tutorials. So I used experimentation. (Not sure I ever got the Boost ability fully figured out.)

There are several "easter egg" collectible types hidden throughout the massive levels. Story comes through one type called Logs. I discovered only a few, so I didn't get the whole backstory.

There are also collectible Music Tracks for speed-running, where you can arrange your own playlists. Excellent soundtrack, with light percussion that still has a beat and ethereal electronic sci-fi sounds. I've heard music like it called Goa. (Actually, several different genres may be represented.) Sound effects are pleasant electronic whirs and chirrups.

And collectible Powerups for the abilities you acquire from playing story mode. (Once, I found a powerup before I had found its ability!) I would like to replay to collect them all, as well as finish the achievements (at about 50% now) and to try to master speed-running.

Gravity inverters felt glitchy at times, but I think that had more to do with me catching them by an edge instead of square-on, at a weird angle, and getting turned around. So I really only came across one minor bug, which didn't affect gameplay: On my machine, the main menu's exit button removed the menu's options but didn't quit the game!

There's a nice end cinematic on finishing story mode. Not sure what happens to the pesky Troopers and Mosquitoes, though. (I'll probably find out when I replay and collect all the Logs!)

A fun FPS platformer. The level design isn't quite top notch and can be frustrating at times but the mechanics are interesting and it's satisfying to finally clear some of the more well designed parts. If Neon White was up your alley, this might be too. Get it on a sale if you're interested.

Neon White would be a high bar to reach, but this game struggles to be anything interesting. The vast emptiness makes it very hard to judge location for anything. The jumps are super shallow, requiring a ton of them just to handle some simple stairs. The red walls are very hard to judge against your hitbox because it's unclear where the rest of you is from your POV leading to many random deaths including some red walls that blindside you entirely. It might be that the game controls better when you have the full toolset, but I'm not willing to keep going through the uninspired levels to reach them all. The dash was already a major letdown. Secrets are similarly haphazardly placed, which takes out a lot of the joy of finding them, especially when the level prevents backtracking.

Честно говоря слабо понял. Раннер от первого лица с пушкой и пространственными головоломками.
Сюжет слабый и заточен на перепрохождение ВСЕХ уровней.
Прошел один раз, запарился на некоторых секциях, было сложно, но ничего нереального и мозговыносящего.
