A fantastic game with unique ideas, vibrant visuals, clean aesthetics and amazing music. It offers a surprising amount of content and it's pretty satisfying to 100% despise missing some QoL features like trackers for missed collectibles. Levels can be quite lenghty when going for full completion though.

Aside from that, the game feels pretty solid though the controls suffer a bit when the game requires any sort of precision with lock-ons, specially in the challenge missions.

Still a fantastic game to play, heavily recommend.

Ver charming and visually inspired game. From the marketing, I always thought this was like some sort of E rated beat-em-up, but it's way more like a Katamari. Instead of being a little guy that rolls things into a ball, you're a big blob of ink and you paint the town. The bones of the game are the satisfying gameplay and the music. The early levels are too easy, but the later levels reach what I would consider the perfect difficulty. It's very fun! If you're a completionist, this is a great game for you.

Truly an underrated Gem, withs it's colorful art style, gameplay, and it's Incredible Composition.
My only gripe would be the controls are really slippery at times and the camera is kinda Wack, but besides that it's an overall fun game.
It also got me super into Jazz when I played this a kid, so this game has a special place in my heart.

De Blob is basically what happens when stress relief and mild rage decide to co parent a video game. Most of the time it’s soothing, like colouring books for grown up and then suddenly one challenge has you seething like a kettle someone forgot to take off the boil. But with enough perseverance (and maybe a muttered swear or two), you get there.

The game itself is easy to play, almost suspiciously easy until the last two levels, where it becomes a scavenger hunt designed by someone who enjoys watching players doubt every life choice. “Do I have everything? Should I go back? Is this the point of no return?” Yes. Always yes.

This is my second time splatting colour around the place, originally on the Wii, and honestly? The colouring is still ridiculously satisfying. Call me childish, but painting a grey city into a rainbow scratches an itch deep in my soul. I’m not even a platformer person, yet here I am, returning like a loyal blob‑based boomerang. That must mean something.

Now, the real villain of this game isn’t the INKT Corporation, it’s the manual colour dumping. At one point I needed 200 colour points for a single quest. Two. Hundred. Why am I doing manual labour for a blob? Where is my auto‑dump button? Who approved this?

I’d say I enjoyed about 90% of the experience
right up until the game made me replay levels like some sort of colourful Groundhog Day.

Verdict: 7/10

Starting with the cons: the controls tend to be yanky. Sometimes you try to jump on a platform and accidentally wall-cling to it. Momentum while jumping is one weird thing. The camera can be unreliable at times. Unclimable surfaces can get you almost stuck or sliding into bad places.
With that out of the way, fan-TASTIC game! I had only played the sequel for the Wii and I can tell it improved many things, but this is one fantastic base for it! If you want to paint the world, stop injustice and feel everything coming to life as you walk around an opressed world, you are in the right place! De Blob combines music and colors like a piece of radical art you can play! Though buckle up, because if you want to TRULY complete a level, you will be sitting for over an hour! There is a lot to do if you care to really save the world, otherwise, you will be missing the essence and the feeling of completion. It is VERY gratifying!

Fruitger Metro on the surface but in reality is food for the soul. The very distant brother of Katamari Damacy. You really won't be able to play this game unless you love yourself enough. As others have said the themes become more relevant over time as corporate minimalism is being pushed, the game really embraces the love of color and particularity. We could really use another game or another message like this today.

I played the game when I was younger and I remembered it fondly. I played this and I was enjoying it so far but the game keeps crashing on the first level. Apparently this is a fairly common issue with this port, which is frustrating. Granted I'm not playing on a laptop that usually runs games but de Blob played fine regardless, it just crashes randomly.

This game reminds me so much of No Straight Roads, but with color instead of music. It looks fun. I wanted it to be fun. But it's just frustrating to play.

The soundtrack and fun visuals can't compensate for how bad it feels to move in this game. Controls are weird and floaty. Blob will stick to walls and the only way off is to wait for him to slowly slide down or jump at a weird angle sending you flying off in a direction you don't want to go. Camera goes wherever it wants. The entirety of gameplay is "hold Lt to target, press A to interact with the thing you're targeting" but you'll lock onto the wrong object frequently.

A lot of the reviews that recommend it are fondly reminiscing about this game on the Wii, maybe it worked better on that console, or maybe we were young kids who didn't know any better. But by modern gaming standards, this is not engaging at best and infuriating at worst.

One of the great games I've played when I was using the Wii. Nice Ost + gameplay and it introduced me to the Wii in general. One really big problem though is that the game is unfortunately UNPLAYABLE on Steam. Got into the game just to freeze when smashing into the first paint canister enemy. I heard other's are also suffering from this issue, but there's not much advice to fix it + I tried ways such as verifying the installation files. Sadly the only other advice for it was just to buy the other ports. Sad to hear

This game has been one of my favorites since childhood. Replaying it somewhere other than the wii was a blast <3 It's so bouncy and uplifting, the INTERACTIVE MUSIC, all in all just a very satisfying game. DO NOT try and play this without a controller; and even then, prepare for the controls to be frustrating on occasion ("I PRESSED THE BUTTON THAT MAKES YOU JUMP, BLOB") but i promise, the fun is worth it.

de Blob ist ein kniffliger Fall zum Bewerten. Einerseits macht es richtig Spass, andererseits gibt es einige grobe Gameplay- und Designmängel, die das Spielerlebnis spürbar trüben.

Vom Grundsatz her ist de Blob ein 3D-Plattformer, allerdings mit einer etwas speziellen Ausgangslage. Man spielt einen Farb-Blob (es gibt wirklich keine bessere Umschreibung für diese Figur), der mithilft, eine Farbrevolution anzuführen. Eine ursprünglich bunte Welt wurde vom bösen Schwarz-Weiss-Regime unterjocht, das alles in Monochrom taucht. Eigentlich eine ziemlich düstere und brutale Geschichte, die irgendwie ein bisschen schräg zum quietschbunten und fröhlichen Gameplay steht. Denn dieses besteht vor allem darin, die Welt wieder in Farbe zu tauchen, indem man Farbe tankt und damit Gebäude und sonstiges in der Welt anhüpft und somit bemalt.

Das macht grundsätzlich einigen Spass, hat aber auch seine Tücken. Die Steuerung ist stellenweise ziemlich zickig und gewisse Abschnitte können dadurch echt frustrierend sein. Vor allem dann, wenn man versucht, einen Level besonders gut abzuschliessen, und irgendwo noch etwas verpasst hat. Dann wird’s supermühsam. Es fehlen einfach gewisse Komfortfunktionen, zum Beispiel ein Radar, der anzeigt, wo noch ein verpasstes Objekt steht. Wichtig ist deshalb: Das Spiel ist ganz sicher nichts für Completionists. Ich bin selber keiner und fand’s stellenweise schon nervig. Wer aber das Bedürfnis hat, jeden Level zu 100 Prozent abzuschliessen, wird sich damit nur selber stressen.

Darum habe ich auch bewusst einige optionale Challenges ausgelassen. Gerade die zeitsensitiven Aufgaben waren manchmal echt mühsam, weil das Spiel kaum die Präzision bietet, die es dafür eigentlich bräuchte. Umgekehrt wird das ganze Gameplay mit der Zeit auch ziemlich repetitiv.

Absolut unentschuldbar ist die fehlende Speicherfunktion innerhalb der Level. Manche Abschnitte sind riesig und entsprechend lang, aber es gibt keine Möglichkeit, zwischendurch zu speichern. Wer das Spiel beenden will, darf wieder ganz von vorn beginnen. Das macht das Einteilen der Spielzeit schwer und die Repetition noch ärgerlicher.

Sehr gelungen dagegen ist der superfunky Soundtrack, der richtig Laune macht. Auch die Grafik ist zwar nicht spektakulär, aber durchwegs stimmig und wunderbar passend zur cartoonigen Welt.

Fazit: de Blob ist eine launige Actionhüpferei, die mit Setting und Gameplay einige richtig gute Ideen hat,d ie aber auch einige Schwächen hat. Und die fehlende Möglichkeit, einen Level zu unterbrechen, ist eine Frechheit. Wer sich aber auf diese Ecken und Kanten einstellt und das Spiel einfach locker durchspielt indem er zügig von A nach B geht ohne das Gefühl, er müsse die Levels perfekt lösen, der kann hier durchaus seinen Spass haben. Mit Abstrichen darum trotz allem: eine Empfehlung.

Falar do game de Blob é muito bom, sabe aqueles joguinhos de aventura que tem tudo o que você procura? Pois então, Esse é o primeiro game da franquia, um game que já antigo e tive a oportunidade de joga-lo novamente depois de muitos anos, de Blob é um game com uma energia muito boa, trilhas sonoras alegres e divertidas, o game é aquela mistura de colorir tudo com enfrentar os inimigos e no final, no fim, fazendo uma analogia, seria como um "Bobbie Goods" digital, onde o jogador enfrenta um inimigo que deixou tudo preto e branco e você tem o dever de trazer as cores e alegrias de volta! Este game é uma boa pedida para relaxar, o game tem o modo campanha e depois outros modos como por exemplo, pintura livre, onde você acessa a fase da campanha, porém sem tempo para finalizar. O game é apenas para um jogador, mas pode ser uma boa para se jogar em familia e com crianças!

Talking about de Blob is really good. You know those adventure games that have everything you're looking for? Well, this is the first game in the franchise, an old game, and I had the opportunity to play it again after many years. De Blob is a game with great energy, cheerful and fun soundtracks. The game is that mix of coloring everything and fighting enemies. In the end, to make an analogy, it would be like a digital "Bobbie Goods," where the player faces an enemy who turned everything black and white, and you have the duty to bring back the colors and joy! This game is a good choice for relaxing. The game has a campaign mode and other modes, such as free painting, where you access the campaign stage, but without time to finish. The game is only for one player, but it can be a good game for families and children!

Text Review:

Pros:
-Beautiful levels that start out pristine, clean and white and becomes a multi-coloured mess with different styles, paint stains and illogically fun and literal architecture (For example a building next to a soccer field with a giant bouncing ball on top) but it was made for the Wii I believe and has aged (Not the best draw distance, masses of ink can look grungy and painted buildings without a style pick-up can look ugly and shiny). The colourful and cartoony style holds up and fights back hard though!
-Good music that spans many genres with funky accents (Lovely easy listening ultimately, upbeat, fun and nothing hard or sinister really but you select the track when you choose the level and it loops until done instead of cycling but honestly it melted into the background enough that I didn't notice the looping THAT much)
-The inkies make minion-esque sounds on occasion (Some slapstick cutscenes included)
-There is so much to collect and paint for completionists and your progress is shown on the canvass of the map. The painting and paint mixing mechanics are novel
-Nice decent movement mechanics but the game doesn't really test you much or expect you too much precision except through locking on and slamming enemies to extend your jump but that is rigid and easy. It can be frustrating when you're paint filled and jump lower or when you jump against a building but don't catch on a ledge and just paint squish (Wall running on this game).

Maybes:
-Not much story and uninspired briefings but the cutscenes can be amuzing
-First and foremost it is a collectathon to be enjoyed by the obsessive among us who will try and paint every bit of the map and it even got a bit much for me... starting a new level, seeing all that I had to collect and paint... again (In all fairness a common issue with 3d platformers that lean more towards being a collectathon). Especially since the objective presentation doesn't tickle you with taunting empty medal indents on the campaign map or scoring sound ques really.

Cons:
-Some unrefinements like aquishing stuck and maybe even some camera issues as is common for 3d platformers (At least when I replayed it recently with keyboard and mouse instead of controller) but nothing major!
-The combat is not great as it uses the lock-on slam and arguably a manual slam would feel better than the rigid, automatic arc but I wouldn't blame someone for calling it simple instead of bad

Love the game. more responsive controls than the Wii version and the dynamic music is amazing and I don't think any games (besides the second one) come close to the wonder said system adds!
I do however have 2 main gripes:
1. Points of no return in the late game that leads to replaying +40 minute levels and still possibly fail.
2. While most of the game plays in 16:9 HD, bonus features are still in a crunchy 4:3 480p which is unfortunate when the cutscenes are upgraded to HD.

I disliked this game because the core gameplay loop of: acquire paint and then distribute said paint to various building/objects; is too boring even for the discounted price. I'll see if my small children like it, but there are many games it has to compete with, and it probably will never be played again.

This was the first ever game I beat on my own when I was six years old. It was a favourite of mine then and remains a favourite of mine to this day. I will say this is not the best port of the game. While the game-play and general design still holds up, this port has a poor rendition of the motion control elements present in this game (building transformation) and the camera sways like a Irish man on St Patrick's day. These two factors make the game impossible to 100% complete as the final challenge level can not be completed within time limits to transform all the buildings, and final boss that I beat as a six year old nearly caused me a game over with dozens of lives due to the fact that the camera was constantly uncontrollably spinning in the entire boss fight worse than it had in the rest of the game. Overall, if you are looking for a charming platformer from the Wii generation or looking for a blast from the past I would recommend it for the cost, just don't expect smooth sailing or a well optimised experience

[b]This is a very VERY solid 3D platformer.[/b]

It's unbelievably creative with it's gameplay, standing out completely from other titles from the same genre with it's central mechanic of being able to paint everything and anything in the levels. While that may sound like something that could get monotonous after a while, this title does a pretty good job at keeping things interesting with the missions you get in the levels, which all perfectly segway into eachother one after the other, keeping things interesting through the whole experience.

The OST is very solid, with some tracks, particularly the Blissful and Euphoric songs, being an absolutely JOY to listen to. The fact every track in this game is also dynamic, with the music changing the main instrument based on the color you currently are painting things with is SO damn creative and absolutely motivates you to keep painting things non stop.

Also, man, this game's got such a FUN artstyle to it, so stylized and good, everything's so vibrant and full of life, it's soooo goooood.

It's not perfect, however, as there are a few things that weren't the best during my run of the game, namely:

- The homing jump attack thingy being very unreliable when there are multiple targets around, with it really liking to target precisely the one thing you DIDN'T want to target, like accidentally hitting enemies that cost you paint to defeat when you really want to conserve it for missions.

- Some of the missions that require you to paint multiple things with various different colors can be quite annoying and tedious to complete, as it's very easy to accidentally bump into things that give you the completely wrong color, forcing you to find some water and the correct colors again, which wastes time, and all of this can happen multiple times in one mission.

- Even with the missions with the flares that show you the way forward, some of the levels feel just a tad bit too long and also difficult to navigate, making backtracking to find things you missed quite annoying.

But, yeah, outside of those things, I found the game to be quite good, and I cannot wait to see what the sequel has to offer!

This game used to bring back so many memories for me I mean when it was my birthday my mom had gotten me an xbox for the first time with some games in it so I put the disc in on this one and I would play for hours I never knew much that was happening but it always brings me joy seeing this just today I bought the bundle and wanna see what I never got to see at the end of this game or the second de blob I now play on PC and have had a long journey.

Fun, child-ish style game with light platforming. You pick up primary colors, and even mixing them to make secondary colors. Then you paint stuff. Have to jump around and touch it to paint it.

Controls are not very tight so that is one complaint, but the game is certainly a casual title so its not that frustrating. Great for kids.

Fue una grata sorpresa ver que esté juego estaba en Steam, lo jugué originalmente en la Wii y he de decir que la nostalgia ha carrileado bastante a yo disfrutar este juego.

de Blob is a game that originally released in 2008 as a Wii exclusive and was later ported to PC and other consoles in 2017. It’s a puzzle-platformer that has you play as a blob who rolls around and is able to absorb paint. Your goal is to defeat Comrade Black and his oppressive I.N.K.T. Corporation which has invaded and banned all color, music, fun, and creativity in Chroma City. Blob works alongside a few allies to restore the color and vibrancy to the city by absorbing paint and recoloring the different areas that were erased by I.N.K.T. and freeing the citizens of Chroma City who are called Raydians.

[h3][Positives][/h3]
- Solid soundtrack. There’s plenty of variety in the music as well.
- Decent gameplay. It’s simple, yet very unique and mostly enjoyable.
- The graphics are solid and game has a nice vibrant and colorful art style.
- Making progress in the levels can be pretty satisfying. The world slowly becomes brighter and the music become more active the more progress you make in an area, which is a nice detail.

[h3][Mixed][/h3]
- Combat is meh. It’s nice to add some difficulty as the game is otherwise very easy, but it’s not really remarkable.
- Mediocre PC port. It’s lacking in settings and the graphical enhancements are bare minimum.
- The $20 price isn’t horrible, but the game is very old and could definitely be a bit cheaper.

[h3][Negatives][/h3]
- The levels being on a timer is an annoying and unnecessary limitation.
- The lack of level checkpoints or saving mid-level is rough. If your game crashes or you quit mid-level, you must restart the entire level. Levels can be over an hour long to fully complete, which makes this issue worse.
- Controls can be extremely janky and frustrating at times. You often have to fight with the camera as well.
- The final two levels having sudden points of no return is annoying as they can lock you out of fully completing the level without having to replay it.
- The compass doesn’t point to every item required for gaining 100% completion of a level, this combined with the timer can make finishing up a level a bit frustrating.
- It’s impossible to 100% any level in one playthrough because of the timer challenges. This basically means you have to beat every level twice for 100%.
- The Wiimote shake has been replaced with a tedious button spam when doing the paint point missions. This is an issue especially in the ‘Sinking Feeling’ challenge mission where you’ll barely have enough time to complete it because of the ported controls.
- Very low draw distance and frequent pop-in. It’s a shame this wasn’t enhanced at all as it’s a glaringly obvious issue.

[h3][Conclusion][/h3]
de Blob is a unique experience that’s unfortunately bogged down by some bad design. The gameplay is decent albeit fairly janky, but the timer is what truly makes the game annoying. Get it on sale or try the sequel if you hate the timer.

Great 3D platformer from the Wii !! I am totally not biased because this is a childhood game !!

It's a cool little game that lasts about 10 hours (30 if you're going for 100%), with a fun, original concept, a great artistic direction, and an absolute banger of a soundtrack.

Main downsides are some precision jumps that can be frustrating to execute, and a camera that's hard to get where you want, but I feel like it was worse on Wii ?

If you're not going for completionist, I think these can be overlooked anyways and you can still have fun ! On a 17 year old game ! Which goes for 5€ on sale ! Very good deal in my opinion !

I saw this game for the first time on nintendo wii.
I had it but never booted it...I believed it was for kids so I didn't really bother.
I saw a "hidden gems" video on youtube and this game was in it.
It definitely is worth a try and I am surprised that more people don't know about this colourful masterpiece.
After finishing the game I was a bit sad that it ended...but then I realised there is BLOB 2 so not all is lost.
Cool concept and great execution , easily one of my favorites.

It's a cool idea and there's definitely fun to be had, but the movement and camera really drag the game down. You move agonizingly slowly, your jumps start out floaty, but then have you plummet short, you constantly stick to things you don't want to stick to, and the camera is a pain to control and frequently gets stuck. It also will not let you look up, the only way to look up is to go into first person mode and agonizingly slowly move the view. There's a few other QOL issues, too. Some collectibles/tasks show up on the compass, but others don't, making 100% stages a huge chore when you've missed a single tree or billboard. All of this could be fixed, but in a game this old, they never will. I wish I could give a middle ground, but if I have to lean in one direction, I'd lean towards not recommending it.

Franchement, de Blob, c’est une pépite sous-cotée. Le concept est simple mais ultra efficace, tu joues une boule de peinture qui doit redonner des couleurs à une ville grise contrôlée par un régime totalitaire. Et c’est hyper satisfaisant à jouer ! Rouler, sauter, éclabousser partout… la physique est super bien foutue, et la liberté d’exploration fait grave plaisir.

Mais le vrai plus du jeu, c’est la musique. Chaque action que tu fais ajoute des sons à l’OST, ce qui rend le tout ultra immersif et vivant. La DA est aussi incroyable, avec un univers unique et une ambiance funky qui met direct de bonne humeur.

Après, il a quand même quelques défauts. Les missions peuvent parfois être un peu répétitives sur la durée, et la caméra est pas toujours ultra précise, ce qui peut être frustrant dans certains passages. Le level design reste bon, mais t’as parfois l’impression de refaire un peu la même chose d’un niveau à l’autre.

Mais honnêtement, malgré ces petits défauts, ça reste un jeu hyper fun et original. Si t’aimes les expériences chill mais stylées, de Blob est un must-play.

It just doesn't hold up like I remember it did when I was a kid.

I played de blob 2 first when I was a kid, and de blob 1 lacks a lot of quality-of-life enhancements I was taking for granted. The way you constantly get stuck to any wall you jump onto makes it super annoying to get around and kills the joy of parkour, you change colour by just touching a paintbot (annoying in tight spaces), the targeting is slow and will always target enemies first even if there is another targetable thing closer to me, getting to 100 paint points is slow because the game has paintbots but no paint pools (so far), the maps are difficult to mentally map out and to get around, and other times they're just "here is a bunch of cluttered buildings in a square", and 60% of the game is just optional challenges/collectibles that are not required to complete the level, which is dissapointing. You can literally just do all mandatory challenges and paint a few buildings, and boom level complete. In de blob 2 there is a linear challenge-by-challenge system, and then optional challenges unlock after you complete the all story challenges, and point you towards certain collectibles, which is a lot more motivating. I miss how in de blob 2 you can choose whether to stick to a wall, the smarter targeting, paint pools, spacier maps, not changing colour by just touching a paintbot accidentally. However, I am also surprised at how similar this is to de blob 2. Similar art style, same characters, same soundfont, and even the music tracks themselves are basic versions of the same tracks in de blob 2, which is really weird and cool (they lack clear motifs though, which was fixed in de blob 2). Overall, I do recommend this, especially if you aren't used to de blob 2, but if you are finding the physics annoying, play de blob 2 instead. I hate all the inconveniences of this version after being used to de blob 2, but I'm gonna force myself to play this because it's more de blob content.

8/10 Short little adventure with charming characters helping to re-painting the town to it's glory days!

I've known about this game since this launched alongside the marketing for the Nintendo Wii. Always was interested in trying this out, though nowadays getting a copy of this game for the Wii isn't commonly easy anymore. Found out they ported it to Steam, so I got it here!

While this game isn't anything to go super crazy about buying immediately, especially since this was designed for the Wii, the game revolves around you bringing back color to a city that's become terrorized by the INKT Patrol by painting the town and restoring buildings to their former glory. This does feel like a game you'd very easily become bored playing, especially since each world seems to be the same common objectives as the last one. With the final one being slightly different.

The only downside with this game falls heavily on controls. I'm not sure if this is because I played off a controller, and not off a Keyboard/Mouse or Wiimote controls, but controlling de Blob throughout the game felt very limited. In better context, you'll find yourself sticking to things more often instead of being able to climb up structures to paint objects on top of buildings. And it gets worse when there are missions where you have to paint particular objects/buildings of a certain color in a short amount of time without messing up. These missions can be skipped, however this becomes the objective later on in the game. Though, the fact this game gives you a lot of lifes, helps eliminate the issue of having to restart the whole world again.

If you're more-so a hardcore player, you'll probably have a better time playing this game. Casual players may struggle with particular puzzles that sometimes have no context as to how to solve them. But, with the game giving players so many lives to collect throughout each level, you'll find yourself not raging as much as other games would.

A good game, but the controls and camera are absolutely ruined. Everything else is great—the concept, the visuals (which still hold up thanks to the stylized art), and even some fresh ideas brought into the new maps.

But there are two major downsides: first, the gigantic maps/levels. I honestly don’t understand why each map needs to take over an hour to complete. I’m the kind of person who likes getting all the achievements, but this just feels like overkill. I’d much prefer more levels that are half the size.

Second, the incredibly frustrating behavior of the damn Blob. It often jumps in the wrong direction, and the camera just spins all over the place when it’s not supposed to. Because of this, I can’t recommend the game.

P.S. Taking a break before coming back to finish it—I need some time to recharge…

This game is just flat out awesome and puts me in such a good mood playing it. The upbeat music, vibrant environments and amazing frutiger metro aesthetics please me so much.

You can say that the mini missions in each of the levels can get a little repetitive, but the levels are so well designed and laid out to where I didn't realize the repetition of the mini missions until reading other's reviews on the game.

Always wanted to play this game as a kid, as 8 remember seeing loads of ads in Nintendo Power for it growing up. So glad I got to play it now and on a pretty good PC port at 4K too.

Bon petit jeu de plate-formes sur fond artistique, satisfaisant, reposant, les musiques sont chouettes (c'est sûrement le meilleurs aspect du jeu), son gros défaut c'est d'être redondant au possible. Absolument tous les niveaux consistent à faire la même chose. Le jeu se renouvelle un peu sur les deux derniers niveaux (sur un total de 10) mais c'est dommage de devoir attendre autant pour voir une évolution dans le gameplay (si l'on ne compte pas l'ajout d'un nouvel ennemi par niveau).

A Wii classic that I never got to play. A flawed masterpiece. I miss the days of 3D mascot platformers. It's a shame they got left behind in 7th gen.. (except with Nintendo)

de Blob performed really well on the SD OLED, giving me over 7h of playtime at 60hz! Worked just fine with almost no issues right outa the box on Proton 9.0-4! Just disable Anti Aliasing and the game will look clear and crisp!

While addictively fun and really easy to complete, it also has its problems, both technically and mechanically..

-------

The port:
-The UI is way too small for this game at any resolution. I don't think it was even this small on the Wii
-Moving Blob and pushing the camera stick around results in very jittery camera movement when over 60fps
-The render distance/LoD is way too short
-The cutscenes and menu backgrounds were very low resolution
-Vsync is built in and can't be disabled
-I also got a solid black screen when skipping a tutorial too fast. I had to force close the game
-There were a few occasions where I tried to target something and I instead just got launcnhed across the map or into orbit lol

Gameplay:
-Navigating the story levels was a hassle on DPAD
-Camera sucks. It messed me up so many times. Very limited vertical range. The first-person camera controls are too slow at highest setting
-The physics are very 'floaty' and sometimes feel VERY stiff. It often made it very difficult to platform
-The wall latching mechanic is neat, but it only ended up getting in the way the overwhelming majority of the time. Getting stuck on corners, flying off them when trying to get off, or getting semi-softlocked onto the corner of a moving object (car, crate) and completely unable to move or get off
-Some buildings are at the 'perfect' height where you jump onto them, but can only latch onto the edge. It's extremely frustrating and dissatisfying
-The cutscenes were always interrupting
-The targeting system was the biggest nuisance. Some targets have priorities over others and it's hecked me up so many times. Heck, just trying to jump on an ink bot, only to fly backwards and hit something else OFF SCREEN
-The targeting controls were really dumb. Instead of holding left trigger and spamming A to slam (like you can in de Blob 2), you had to mash left trigger + A simultaneously, repeatedly. I'm glad they fixed that in de Blob 2

Other than that, best $3.46 I ever spent! I'm going to complete de Blob 2 next!

A game about implementing effective praxis to tear down a fascist state; utilizing the combined powers of art and smooth jazz.

Soundtrack SLAPS but the game controls like ASS, and the painting challenges are annoying as ♥♥♥♥.

Trying to 100% this game is probably graded pretty highly on the "CIA Preferred Methods of Torture" tier-list.

A moins de 2 euros en soldes, rejouer à De Blob ne se refuse pas.

Découvert sur Wii, il m'avait fait bonne impression à l'époque. Seulement je n'étais pas fan du tout des manettes sur cette console... Les wiimotes ont gâché l'expérience.

Là, sur PC, avec une manette Xbox (ou équivalent) c'est beaucoup mieux!

De Blob est un jeu tranquille qui s'adresse à toute la famille. Tout le monde peut prendre plaisir à repeindre de toutes les couleurs la grisaille diffusée par les méchants. Concept original pour un jeu non violent (de temps en temps ça fait du bien...).

Il tourne très bien sur PC et c'est très agréable de le retrouver sur ce support.
Ce portage PC est une très bonne idée! Et puis, vu qu'il est dispo également sur Steam, ça me permettra de découvrir enfin le deuxième opus ^^
