I think this finally proved to me that I really prefer first person FMV games. This is fun, and surprisingly funny. Poe and Munro are established by now and enjoyable to watch, but the gameplay elements are too minor for me honestly. The lack of a first person protagonist really hurts immersion.

Full-Motion-Videospiele sollten einem grundsätzlich erstmal liegen als Machart. Wenn einem diese Hürde erstmal gelungen ist, stellt sich einem in "Dark Nights with Poe & Munro" nicht mehr viel entgegen.
Das Spiel ist denkbar einfach gestrickt. Poe und Munro führen durch eine Radiosendung und im Rahmen dessen sind Entscheidungen zu treffen. Die sechs Episoden des Spiels funktionieren dabei alle auch für sich alleine, aber es ist dennoch empfohlen, sie besser in chronologischer Reihenfolge zu spielen. Was die Steuerung betrifft, so ist einer jeden Person selbst überlassen, darüber zu entscheiden, wie viel Geschick im Bedienen einer Maus sie sich selbst zuschreibt. Mehr wird einem schließlich nicht abverlangt in der Steuerung.
Der Titel des Spiels lässt einen dabei schon vermuten, dass das Spiel im Bereich Horror zu verorten ist. Der Bezug auf Edgar Allan Poe ist schließlich unübersehbar, wenn eine der Personen den gleichen Nachnamen trägt. Trotz des Bezugs zum Horrorgenre ist das Spiel eher handzahm. Wirklich blutig und gewaltsam wird es nicht, auch wenn in den einzelnen Episoden bestimmte genretypische Elemente aufgegriffen werden. Besonders düster ist das Spiel dabei genauso wenig. Dazu passt, dass fortwährend Humor eingestreut wird, der in Timing und Form für das Spiel gut funktioniert, aber auch nie grässlich albern wird. Wie die meisten Full-Motion-Videospiele ist "Dark Nights with Poe & Munro" ästhetisch eher einem B-Movie zuzuordnen als einer Hochglanzproduktion, doch das ist wahrscheinlich allen bekannt, die ein Herz für diese Machart von Spielen haben.
So ist "Dark Nights with Poe & Munro" ein kurzweilig unterhaltsames Spiel, mit dem sich gut ein langer Nachmittag zubringen lässt.

One of the most baffling game experiences I've ever had. I recommend it not because it's a good game but because it's fun to theorize about the decisions that went into each step of this.

Update: after playing Episode 3 and being stuck in what I can only describe as yap purgatory I can't recommend playing this even as a goof.

I love these FMV series that are all in the same universe as Dr. Dekker. This one is pretty fun from beginning to end and the two leads have good chemistry and are generally fun to watch. Other acting in it is hit and miss but it's not a big deal unless you desperately need oscar performance in your FMVs.

The third installment in D'Avekki Studios FMV games. This one being a spinoff game of the previous installment The Shapeshifting Detective. We follow the odd happenings of our favourite August radio hosts Poe & Monroe. Who in this episodic adventure stumble upon most peculiar situations while trying to run their local radio show. The chemistry and interactions between these two is the main focus of the game.
The gameplay is a mix of quicktime events and option choosing. There are six episodes in total that go by very fast, which makes one yearn for more. I do hope for a sequel!
Highly recommended for a quick fun and enjoyable mystery experience.

Can't really recommend it. Not the worst thing I've played but very frustrating.

No real link between the 6 short episodes (except for our two heroes of course) and each one was way too short to tell the
story it had to tell, leaving us wanting for more.

During a sale? Sure why not. At its full price? A big nope.

[h1]Это ну слишком нудно. Играть 30 минут, из которых 5 минут смотреть "А в следующей серии вы увидите..." и 5 минут бесконечные Титры, ти-т-ры, ТИТРЫ перед каждым эпизодом что не скипнуть. [/h1]

Не так плохо, как быть могло, но и не так хорошо, как хотелось бы, можно сказать что средненько, если сравнивать D'Avekki с Wales.

Резкие переходы из нарезок, иногда растраивают, вот Манро или По говорит с серьёзным лицом, и кадр резко меняется и его поведение полностью меняется, а ведь не принималось никакое решение, и т.е. они не позаботились снимать что-то чуть дольше одного дубля, и это не крутая актёрская игра, а очередной быстрый кадр.
Кстати... локация очень сильно напоминает площадку I Saw Black Clouds, в одном сюжете, надеюсь я ошибаюсь и они не снимали там же, где и I Saw Black Clouds.

Далее, у них фишка конечно проспойлерить в эпизоде что будет в следующем "Смотрите в следующей серии", как бы но к чему в начале каждой серии смотреть одни и те же субтитры которые идут минут 5. На 6 серий, которые сами по себе минут на 15-20, это слишком уж много, и их не возможно скипнуть.

Но мне правда хотелось рекомендовать эту игру, но некоторые эпизоды настолько уныло затянуты, что нет... напомнило «Блиц скорость без границ, ленивцы ZVEROPOLIS» уже вымотали максимально и просто жду когда же завершится этот диалог, а мне накидывают ещё и ещё, об одном и том же, об одной и той же истории, но с разных сторон, тоже яйцо только в профиль, спасибо что убивали с каждым новым диалогом в 4 эпизоде мой интерес к этой игре.
При этом очень не хочется нудить, но... с каких пор на радио люди сидят без наушников практически всегда.

Снято неплохо, актёры так же играют не переигрывая, режесёр-постановщик не лажает, но сюжет... он настолько иногда бредовый, или... театральный скажем, не реалистичный, а больше драматично-комедийный.

Меня хватило на 4-ре эпизода, обычно с интересом доигрываю такие игры, хотя бы из любопытства или сравнить с другими, но чем дальше, тем тупее...

Oi, lemme tell ya 'bout this Dark Nights with Poe and Munro game, right? Absolute rubbish, innit! It's one of them FMV games about two radio DJs in some weird little town, but bloody 'ell, what a disappointment! The stories are proper disjointed - six little episodes that ain't connected and just end without resolvin' nuffin'! Each one's only like 20-30 minutes long, so you're done with the whole thing in about two and a half hours, which is a right ripoff for what you're payin'! The worst part is them choices you gotta make - they don't tell ya what you're even pickin'! It's just some random pictures on the screen, and you're s'posed to click one without knowin' what'll 'appen! Like, do I pick Poe or Munro? No bleedin' clue what either of 'em's gonna do! The actin's just about alright - seen worse on them dodgy SyFy shows - but the chemistry between the main characters ain't enough to save this mess. Agree wiff most people who played it say it's confusin', borin', and the dialogue's cringey as anythin'. Even if you get it on sale, save your dosh and watch a proper movie instead!

This was one of the better FMV games on Steam. I really loved the Twilight Zone style episodes.

My only issue is that the choices are few and far between. If it wasn't so entertaining, I would be more frustrated with the lack of interactivity.

I wanted to like this game.

I've played Contradiction, Who Pressed Mute on Uncle Marcus, and several other would-be similar titles in the past, so I had high hopes going in.

I was expecting a fun FMV experience.

That is not what I got.

I'll corroborate what others have said first:
I've seen numerous reviews stating that many choices either don't matter at all or have little impact, and I agree. The game will play itself and select specific options for you if you don't make a decision yourself. This often doesn't mean a new third option where you don't make a choice, but just turns into the game auto-choosing one option or the other. Why even have a time limit on those choices if this is the case?

The actors do their best with the script they have. I do not blame them specifically for this particular criticism, as I don't know how many creative decisions they themselves made for their roles.
That said, most of the characters are completely unlikable.
I don't know if this was intentional, but it makes the game tedious very quickly.
This is the most true of the titular characters. It's okay and sometimes even more compelling to follow/be in the head of someone who isn't a good person or doesn't always have the best intentions.
However, it quickly becomes exhausting when they either lack compelling motivation to behave that way or have no redeeming qualities. For Poe and Munro, it's both.
This is a game about two insufferable people making terrible decisions.
That might sound fun. I didn't think so.

Was there anything I liked? Getting to hear Justin McElroy voice a villain (props for having that range, Juice).

[spoiler]Poe and Munro are affair partners, which doesn't paint them in a favorable light from the first episode onward. Their relationship and banter aren't charming. Poe is cheating on his wife with Munro, and Munro is aware of and therefore complicit in this. Poe tells Munro his wife knows he's having an affair, but that she doesn't know with whom.
How could she not know? The two flirt almost constantly on and off the air. Munro is his only coworker. Is Poe lying? If this ever comes to a head or concludes in any meaningful way, I'm not sure. More than that, I don't care. The characters weren't sympathetic or compelling enough for me to continue beyond halfway through episode four.[/spoiler]

Munro is presumptuous and willfully ignorant. Poe is self-important and leering. As a result, their banter comes across not as witty and playful, but as two people who already shouldn't be together, having no chemistry and being constantly at odds with each other. Their relationship is confusing at best, and at worst, disturbing, given some of the possible actions and the surrounding context.

There are many ways this could have been done differently; one approach I frequently see.
In narratives where the main characters are deeply flawed people, there are often foils: Comparatively normal side characters who will comment on how abnormal the main characters' behavior is, how unlikable they are, and call into question the efficacy of their ill-conceived plots and actions.
That makes for a better story. It's more compelling because it doesn't make the audience feel like they're supposed to be rooting for these unlikable people (unless under exceptional circumstances).
It doesn't make the audience feel like they're going crazy.

Side characters, or even one individual who pointed out Poe and Munro's absurdity, would have done wonders.
As far as I played, that doesn't happen. If it does, it takes too long. As far as I could tell, the side characters either didn't have enough screen time to make much of an impact or were insufferable, too.

Poe and Munro are terrible both together and separately.

A perfect example is a scene in the third episode where [spoiler]Munro presumes a stranger she just met wants her to strip and is immediately seduced and on board. When the stranger tries to clarify that she wants Munro to strip sheets off of a bed, Munro still presumes she wants her to strip on the bed, and lounges there before even further clarification.
I'm not sure how else the scene can unfold, as I felt incredibly awkward as it was.
Afterward, Poe asks how things went, and Munro describes the woman as "dominant; I liked her." Again, I'm not sure if the scene was meant to be funny, sexy, or charming, but it came off as exhausting.

Poe pretends that the handwritten death threats in episode one aren't a serious issue, and it's even more exhausting.
Make it make sense: These are pieces of paper slipped under an interior door at the studio that cannot lock. The studio has been receiving them for at least two weeks. He doesn't think Munro should be informed about them because he assumes they're from his wife, who he says knows he's having an affair, but not with whom. HUH??

Motivations swap whenever it's convenient to the narrative, but consistent character arcs are largely nonexistent.
In episode one, Munro wants to call the police after a creepy caller threatens her and Poe, and Poe reveals the studio has (as stated) been getting death threats via handwritten notes slipped under the door to their recording studio. Poe doesn't want her to call.

In episode three, a teenager goes missing, and shortly after, the same creepy caller, whom we thought had died in episode one, calls in again to inform Poe and Munro that they must act quickly. Straight after, yet another creepy caller informs them she has the teenager trapped somewhere and will probably kill him. Poe wants to call the police. Munro wants to play detective and figure it out as a duo. While I wouldn't put it past these two to try something this ill-conceived, it's weird to see their motivations swap with no real reason given besides 'the police are incompetent'. While I agree, especially since there are at least two ways the duo can get away with potential murder in episode one, why the sudden change?[/spoiler]

The episodes I played were just long enough to be frustrating, but not long enough to answer any questions that could have led somewhere interesting.

My most significant criticism by far: This game needs a content warning.
When you have actors portray what appears to be the lead-up to [spoiler]violent SA[/spoiler], this game needs a content warning.
It's not the only reason, but it's the biggest one for me. Additionally, there are graphic narrative descriptions of [spoiler]death and gore, as well as other very heavy topics.[/spoiler]
I am well aware this game has horror elements, and I went in expecting horror.
However, especially due to the format in which it's presented and the fact that horror is the chosen genre, it falls to the developers to provide these warnings.
I am not suggesting games should not tackle heavy topics or content. Some of my favorite games handle these topics incredibly well. This makes the way they're included here even worse.

TLDR: When cheesy acting takes a hard turn into serious situations and topics the writing isn't equipped to handle well, it's not only narrative whiplash, it puts many people off the game in its entirety.
Your choices as a player are mostly irrelevant.
The characters are unlikable and frustrating.
The story is so hard to follow that it's often nonsensical, and the episodes are only loosely correlated.

I was overly generous and tried to give the game a chance even after I wanted to quit.
Although I didn't run into anything as egregious as episode two, it wasn't worth it.

Some people say Dark Nights with Poe and Munro is so bad it's good. I disagree.
I expected better from this studio. I wish I'd refunded it when I still had the chance.

挺没意思的小故事合集，剧情很薄弱并不抓人，有的时候还很莫名其妙。且因为每个故事都是独立的，所以你无论怎么选都不会对主角的人生有任何影响。而且选项特别不清楚，经常是给你几个意义不明的物体，比如脖子和手，或者两个主角，让你二选一，可是大多数情况下你都不知道角色会怎么行动，或者这个物体跟故事有什么关联，所以基本上你就是在瞎选，那做这个选项的意义何在。举个例子，[spoiler] 在第三集里，去学校调查线索的时候，你可以选唱红脸（女主）还是唱白脸（男主），然后我就选了唱白脸，结果就是男主问有没有线索，对方说没有，然后男主就信了，这个场景就结束了。这是什么垃圾选项？不是，唱白脸就这，我还以为你要威慑对方呢，结果就是让我白跑一趟？[/spoiler] 像这样没头没脑的选项，在游戏里比比皆是。

演员的演技我感觉一般，有的时候我觉得很做作，尤其是两个主角调情的时候，还有女主角试图装作无辜的时候，明明普通说话就好了，感觉动作特别没必要的夸张和刻意。摄影的质量一般，能看见明明是同一个场景但是光线颜色不太一样。而且有些地方缺少转场，把本就稀碎的剧情搞得更加不连贯。音轨也不行，明明同一个场景但是能很明显听出来不是一起录的，还有的时候会喷麦，这部分就不能重新录一下吗。

同时，两个主人公也很不讨喜，我要是知道这个游戏里唯一贯穿的剧情就是他们俩是婚外恋的话我就不会买了。很烦，你根本不知道为啥他们俩偷情，为啥说着爱对方但是男主就是不跟自己太太离婚，最后他俩感情纠结来纠结去也没有结果，并不会因为你做什么他们就分手，或者在一起，搞得我看得很烦躁。还有就是既然他们俩天天在广播里打情骂俏，且这还是这个镇子上唯一的广播，男主太太怎么还没发现他出轨。他俩可是不止一回说漏嘴了。有人可能能接受，但是我是接受不了看两个出轨的人搁着里唧唧我我，怪恶心的。因为讨厌他们我每次看到女主装可爱，夹着嗓子的时候就想吐，看到男主装深情的时候也想吐，不是你这么爱她你去离婚啊，神经病。还有无论我做什么选择这两人就是不分手，即使我选择 [spoiler] 让女主独自逃跑，不叫醒一氧化碳中毒的男主，害得他差点没命，[/spoiler]下一章他们俩还是在那里调情。

2/10 不推荐买，有很多其他的fmv游戏可以玩，没必要玩这个各方面都不行的作品，尤其是剧情。

Pubblicato nel 2020, "Poe and Munro" è la terza fatica dei coniugi Linda e Tim Cowles, fondatori del D'Avekki Studios e grandi appassionati di FMV, misteri ed esoterismo.
Esso rappresenta una sorta di terzo capitolo di un ciclo iniziato con "The infectious madness of Dr Dekker" del 2017 e proseguito con "The shapeshifting detective" del 2018, e condivide con i predecessori l'utilizzo del full motion video, l'ambientazione nella fantomatica località di August e l'alone di mistero che aleggia durante il racconto dei sei episodi che compongono il gioco.
I protagonisti, Ellis Munro e John "Poe" Pope, hanno fatto il loro esordio in "The Shapeshifting Detective" nella parte di due conduttori radiofonici guadagnandosi poi il ruolo primario nel suo "spin-off", "Dark nights" appunto; tra una trasmissione radiofonica e l'altra i due personaggi si ritroveranno protagonisti di sei "racconti del mistero" della durata di circa mezz'ora, e sarà compito del giocatore effettuare le scelte che influiranno sulla trama e sul finale di ciascun episodio.
Rispetto a "Dr Dekker" e "The Shapeshifting Detective" la componente ludica (intesa come "enigmi da risolvere") è totalmente assente, cosa che potrebbe far storcere il naso a chi non avesse già dimestichezza con i film interattivi; in questo ci vedo una pecca nel gioco, venendo a mancare un vero e proprio "scopo" se non quello di vedere il finale di ciascun episodio (ed eventualmente collezionare i vari achievement previsti).
Come in tutti i film interattivi, le scelte condizionano lo sviluppo della storia e il finale; quindi per la visione di tutti i finali (e la conquista di tutti gli achievement) sono richieste più run.
Come già detto, ciascun episodio dura circa mezz'ora, ma una volta completato sarà possibile rigiocarlo skippando le scene già viste (cosa che porta la durata di una seconda run a una manciata di minuti per episodio).
Pro e contro: i PRO sono tutti quelli già noti a chi conosce i predecessori, ossia la recitazione degli attori (sempre ottima) e l'alone di misterio che indubbiamente incuriosisce una volta entrati nel vivo delle storie.
Non mancano gli agganci e le citazioni dei giochi precedenti (un intero capitolo è "ambientato" sullo stesso divano di pelle dove sedevano i pazienti del Dr Dekker), oltre che alcune facce note e apprezzate come quella della bellisssssima Aislin De'Ath, "attrice feticcio" dei coniugi Cowles.
Per quanto riguarda i CONTRO, citerei l'assenza di veri e propri enigmi e la limitata interazione richiesta al giocatore.
Oltre a questo si nota anche la mancanza di un registro chiaro nelle storie, che restano sempre in bilico tra il thriller, la commedia e il grottesco, senza però affondare mai realmente in nessuno di essi; troppo poco inquietante per dare qualche brivido allo spettatore/giocatore (a differenza di Dekker, che su quel fronte è per me magistrale), non abbastanza ironico per suscitare vero divertimento.
Insomma un "mix di generi" che può piacere oppure no (se qualcuno cerca avventure che abbiano un'atmosfera lynchiana... io mi sento di suggerire un po' tutta la produzione D'Avekki).
In sintesi, su una scala da 0 a 10 "Dark nights with Poe and Munro" si piazza per me sul 6.5, e lo consiglierei prettamente a chi ha giocato i due predecessori, mentre per gli altri potrebbe risultare abbastanza superfluo (anche se la breve durata, circa 3-4 ore, lo rende comunque un buon passatempo per gli appassionati di FMV).

Siempre me han gustado los juegos de toma de decisiones. En este juego veo carencias con el tema trasfondo, porque te meten en medio de diferentes misterios pero nunca sabrás el trasfondo de toda la trama. Por otro lado, la toma de decisiones a veces no se entiende que es lo que estas eligiendo y como va a repercutir en el futuro. Por lo que has de cargar partida y volver a empezar el mismo misterio y corregir la decisión. En general me ha gustado, pero falta cuidar esos detalles.

This is very much a character driven game. In order to enjoy it, you need to enjoy the two main characters. It helps greatly that those two actors do an amazing job in their roles and have excellent chemistry. It made the game very enjoyable. From a UI perspective, I really appreciate that it lets you check you stats before restarting a chapter and that it allows you to skip scenes after you complete an episode for the first time. The latter may seem basic, but there are other FMV games like Late Shift that have no skip option, even on subsequent playthroughs.

My biggest complaint, and it seems to be one that many share, is that there's no overall plot. Instead the game is split into multiple small TV episodes so your decisions only matter within that episode and don't carry forward to the rest of the game. This structure is part of why it's so important that you like the two main characters, because their relationship is the only thread tying the game together.

Overall, this is definitely one of the best FMV games of this type that I've played. Full price is a bit steep, but if you like FMV games and can get it on sale go for it!

I do like some of the FMV games set in this world and games featuring these actors (I enjoyed The Shapeshifting Detective, for instance), but this one was a slog for me. I can't believe it was only three hours of gameplay--it felt like SO much longer. Between all the overacting, the generally unlikeable characters, and the disconnected, episodic nature of the narrative, it just didn't feel like a satisfying arc to play through all six of these parts. The story opened a lot of interesting doors, but it never really managed to close any of them. Worth it if you love this genre of choices matter FMV game, but certainly not the finest example of its kind.

I struggled to really like this game. It has some interesting storytelling and decent acting. For the price, you get a good amount of content containing six chapters with alternate endings. Sadly, it felt a little off at times, like the story was hard to believe or the scene didn't captivate me. After two chapters, I can tell its fairly well made, just not as well executed. However, FMV fans will likely enjoy it.

This is FMV done right, it manage to balance the weirdness, the humor, the spooky mood and the narrative in a pretty compelling way. They are clearly going for a mood of an interactive supernatrual TV-show, and they get things right most of the time. While it can be a little obscure in how different choices will change the narrativve, sometimes entire scenes change with a minor choice and there are quite a few different outcomes and the episodes are not that long (and you can skip scenes after finishing all episodes), so you can replay them quickly jump to a branching path and try something else to see how things turn out differently.

I wouldn't mind more episodes of this.

Objectively speaking, this game is not good. I loved it.

The lead love interests ([i]Klemens Koehring[/i], [i]Leah Cunard[/i]) have no chemistry, the pacing is quite awful, plot points are often unexplained or unresolved - but the whole thing is the quintessential experience of campy fun.

Each episode varies wildly in content and quality, so I thought it better to break down each one individually.

[b][u]Episode One:[/u][/b] A stalker is sliding incredibly subtle threatening messages such as "I'M GOING TO KILL YOU" in block capitals under the door. Poe kills a man and this never has any consequences. [u]4/10[/u]

Not too bad if you don't take the logic nor the plot holes too seriously and enjoy horror/supernatural stories. Besides, I have a feeling that whenever a writer cannot explain a question or continue the story, they pass the buck to the government for unspeakable tests or to aliens.

Poe and Munro holds a unpopular late-night ghost stories/oneiromancy radio channel wishing to make some money, but gradually they find weird things started happening around them starting with threatening message and letter, then a killer at large announcing murderer through their broadcasting, leaving leads for missing teenagers and for some reason local police is not doing proper investigations. Things start to get out of control when supernatural events happen. Both Poe and Munro start to do time jumps and arrive at an unknown library with a weird lady. The story decided to go on with no further explanation, at the end it is some government crazy test making people vanish like a Portkey in Harry Potter, or some devil taking human souls.

I can't say I understand the story well, but I do enjoy some ideas, the highlight goes to Poe asking the library curator about that Portkey thing given to him yet the library curator insists that he has never seen Poe before, never given him anything and he was the only curator. leaving both of them astonished. I still get goosebumps.

This game has a bunch of choices that lead to different cutscenes but the same ending - which is no ending at all, at the end they just hop into a car and drive away, leaving most questions unexplained.

5/10. Might for horror story lovers.

Dr Dekker was one of my favorite games: it was inventive, engrossing, the text parser made it fun, and every playthrough had a different killer.

Dark Nights has none of this. The FMV looks like it was all shot in someone's house, reminding me of all those cheap films on RLM's Best of the Worst. I mean, Dekker also probably was, but that made sense, because they decided the whole game should take place in the therapist room.

In Dark Nights, we get 6 disconnected stories, none of which is particularly compelling. About the only through-line is that Poe and Munro are affair partners, which I did think was interesting. Other than that, we get a half-hearted slasher film, a couple X-Files reject plots, a Dekker callback, and one fantasy episode.

The gameplay is ... inessential. Sometimes a dot shows up on screen. Press it or not, you cannot fail. It's rarely clear what these dots will even do, and sometimes they are jiggling on the screen, making clicking them difficult.

Basic things like screen scaling don't even work. The screen resolution can't be changed. The video was often choppy and had tearing (even with v-sync).

During one episode, we go back to Dekker's office and get a cool, macabre plot involving murder, adultery, and mind-reading. This was delightful, but only really highlights how weak the rest of the game plot is. The creators struck gold with Dekker. I wish they'd go back to that mine.

Не люблю я, а может не понимаю саму сущность т.н. английского юмора. Именно комедии я ожидала от этого фильма, всё-таки действие там происходит гротескное и пародийное, в стиме присутствуют тэги «чёрная комедия», «чёрный юмор» — я их обожаю — но что-то пошло не так и не получилось.

Кроме того, геймплей сделан ужасно, и да, мы говорим всего лишь про FMV, ну как можно было облажаться с геймплеем в FMV? В качестве выборов у нас не фразы или действия, а точки на экране, указывающие на персонажа или предмет, и то, что происходит, когда вы выбираете одну из них, абсолютно непредсказуемо! После каждого выбора возникает реакция «да блин, я не это хотела сделать». Ощущаешь себя совершенно не вовлечённым в процесс игры, как будто вы в качестве игрока и не нужны вовсе, игра сама как-нибудь себя пройдёт. Это очень раздражает.

Актёрская игра хорошая, но одна она не вытягивает остальное.

Poe & Munro sont des personnages qui sont tirés du FMV "The Shapeshifting Detective".
En toute franchise, j'ai détesté ce FMV en particulier.

Mais ici, avec des personnages qui apparaissent comme secondaire dans ce premier FMV, on peut un peu creuser leur personnalité, et franchement, j'ai beaucoup apprécié. Le jeu d'acteur est plutôt bon (mention spéciale à Poe je trouve).

On est sous la forme d'une mini-série avec des épisodes semi-indépendants (même si certains éléments font référence à un précédent épisode), avec des histoires toujours différentes.

Attention, certaines histoires sont un peu difficile à entendre si notre imagination fonctionne bien (épisode 4...). Les épisodes sont globalement accessibles et courts (entre 10 et 25 min par épisode).

Bref, j'ai bien apprécié ce FMV dont je n'attendais rien vu que Shapeshifting était pour moi un ratage monumental...

As an FMV game, the gameplay is pretty light, mostly limited to choosing actions from a short list of options. Assuming you are happy with that, the questions become more about writing, performance, and technical details. These are quite good! I enjoyed the little mini-dramas; the stories were interesting and the acting (mostly) compelling. It does a good job of making everything feel smooth and connected, at least on a first playthrough. Overall, I had fun.

The game comprises 6 very short stories involving 2 characters from the bigger and better game: The Shapeshifting Detective.

It's essentially a watch-along B grade series of short stories with likeable characters that is pretty well produced. A little bit in the vein of 'Black Mirror' or 'Tales from the crypt' meets 'The Fog', but much shorter and B-grade.

There isn't much 'game' in it. It's mostly a very light 'choose your own adventure', though even that may be too complimentary.

When making a choice, you have a short time limit and your options are usually to pick 1 of 2 images to click on. Often I didn't know what choosing an image would do, so I didn't even know what choice I was making.

While it's not great at film or being a game, I did enjoy going through it while multitasking. It's a narrow recommendation, and I definetly recommend playing The Shapeshifting Detective first.

If you like B movies this is a D movie.
The controls make no sense. For example in one interactive scene the players choice determines which object the character touches, in another it indicates which character you side with, in another literally means nothing (having chosen both options), in another it's a sad quick-time-event surprise, and in another it's a button masher.
Considering how many time we are forced to see D'Avekki's name playing this sad excuse for a game, I think D'Avekki deserves a reality check. This is the lowest.

Oyun maalesef tam anlamıyla bir hayal kırıklığı. Bu tarz oyunları sevdiğim için denemek istedim fakat oynadığımda ne kadar büyük bir hata yaptığımın farkına vardım. Özellikle geliştirmesi diğer oyunlara göre bu kadar kolay olan bir oyunun özellikle senaryosunun/hikayesinin ön plana çıkmasını beklerdim. Ne yazık ki onu da başaramamışlar. Resmen bizim de bir oyunumuz olsun, içinde biz olalım mantığıyla yapılmış bir oyun diyebilirim.

Bir kadın bir erkek radyo yayıncısının her bölümde başlarından geçen hikayeleri izliyor ve diyaloglar arasından seçim yapıyorsunuz. Seçtiğiniz seçeneklerin/ikonların ne olduğu belli bile değil. Bir ikon koymuşlar ama bunu seçince ne olacak hiçbir fikriniz yok. Oyun boyunca seçtiğiniz seçenekler hep bu yönde. Yapmak istemediğiniz şeyleri seçiyor olmanız çok muhtemel. Üstelik size sunulan seçimler de çok anlamsız ve saçma. Seçimlerin sonuca ne kadar etki ettiğini ise tahmin edemiyorum. Ben birden fazla sonu görerek bitirdim ama bunlar da pek farklı sonlar değillerdi.

Kesinlikle kaybedilen zamana değmez. Tavsiye etmiyorum. Bu kadar yazı yazmam bile lütuf olsun kendilerine. Yapımda emeği geçen aktörlerin oyunculuklarında başarılar dilerim, ama oyun dışı oyunculuklarında. Bu oyuna vereceğiniz parayla gidin dışarıda karnınızı doyurun, ne bileyim lahmacun falan yiyip ayran için daha mutlu olursunuz.

I wish there was a middle option. I don't know if I recommend this game, exactly, but I don't want to turn anybody off it either. Definitely play The Infectious Madness of Dr. Dekker and The Shapeshifting Detective first. If you come out of those invested in this world, Dark Nights with Poe and Munro will be worth it. Here's what I'll say about it:

This game is a little different Dekker or Shapeshifting Detective. Rather than unravel a central mystery, you're playing several small, disconnected episodes. While the episodic structure is a neat way to explore August and bring in elements from Dekker and Shapeshifting Detective, it doesn't pull you in as deeply as the games with a clear overarching mystery. However, there are some through lines running across episodes, and those build intrigue. I haven't finished the game yet, so I don't know if there's payoff, but it's enough to get me invested in the characters and setting.

The Good:
Poe and Munro. They're oddly compelling. I don't ship them, but I'm obsessed with their radio chemistry. I love their voices. Their weird small town radio station makes me believe in August and its small town weirdness. I didn't have strong feelings about their show in my first play of The Shapeshifting Detective, but I look forward to revisiting the game with a fresh lens.
Dark Nights with Poe and Munro is at its strongest when it leans into mystery solving and the supernatural, as in Episodes One and Three. I'm quite invested in the Episode One antagonist. There's also a Dekker callback, which is excellent fun (despite a weak framing device).

The Bad:
Mechanically, this is the weakest D'Avekki Studios game I've played so far. It's rarely clear what you're choosing between, which makes meaningful decisions difficult. I'm trying to build out rules based on the results I get from my choices, but it feels inconsistent and leaves me unsure what my role as a player is.
And if the game is at its strongest when it leans into mystery solving and supernatural, it's at its weakest when it veers into the outright surreal. I did not enjoy Episode Two. The ambiguity of the mechanics plus the ambiguity of the story made it just... confusing. And because I didn't understand my choices or the stakes, some of the negative consequences were quite upsetting.

Overall:
I like it enough that I'll replay it to see what different choices get me. If you're into this series, it's worth a play for the characters alone. This game makes me wish there was an active fandom for D'Avekki Studios games.
That said, it's by far the weakest game of the series.

Though I wasn't sure what I was choosing by clicking on one of the offered options, it was a fun little gem with the convenience of visiting each chapter to finish your achievements more easily. Once you can skip dialogue, it's a good time to re-visit and try alternate choices, or work on achievements.

The acting is not perfect, not even close sometimes. I think they put lip stick on everyone. lol
I was a bit creep(ed) out on seeing a child as a demon. The stories didn't relate very well, yet there were some interceptions.

I found myself wanting more. It was a unique and interesting experience. I got into the stories, which isn't usually easy for me. It's a bit dark. It was a lot like being in an interactive movie. I did not turn on timed, not a fan, but the convenience was nice.

I hope they add some chapters to this. I tried another of theirs, the detective one, but I still keep thinking of this one. This one was a bit captivating and left an impression on me, perhaps due to my taste in story/movie types? Whatever led me to really appreciate this one, I hope that I feel it again with the next one. It was an interesting journey :)

Not many men were in the game. Mostly women. Video quality was really good. I could see the characters quite well. It was well edited, imho.

Dark Nights with Poe and Munro is a choose your own adventure game where you play as Poe and Munro who are radio hosts who face the supernatural in six TV like episodes where your choices drive the story and create the outcome
Graphics- Real life
Soundtrack- Okay
Audience- Teenagers and Adults
Difficulty- Not too hard just making choices
Story- Good story
Game time- Decent about 3hrs broken up into 6 stories
Price- Its not too expensive, but usually on sale

Wasn't sure what to make of this when it first started, but the acting was pretty good. The 2 main characters played their parts very well. The dialogue was very cheesy, but they made it funny and kept me very entertained.
The 6 story's are fairly short, but I liked them and there are alot of choices to be made. It took me about 2.5 hours to beat the game.
After you finish, you can select each episode to replay and try to get the other achievements which took me a little over an hour to do.
This is mostly a watch and click to make choices game (though there are a couple of spots where you must make quick decisions) but like I said earlier, I did like this game. Would recommend waiting for it to go on sale as it is fairly short. Will looking to play other games made by them.

I've loved D'Avekki games in the past, but Dark Nights shows some marked improvements. 3 hrs of game
Pros:
Pacing and Editing improvements
Episodic content (but with a number of episodes per game) is a great move
Writing was punchier/sassier
Statistics were fun
Cons:
Felt shorter than previous games
Decisions didn't branch much, but were sometimes hard to follow

Perso j'ai détesté, ce n'ai pas une histoire complète mais des petits épisode de 20 minutes, on ce fait chier, les acteurs omg c'est un FMV je sais, mais ils jouent mal en sur-jeu constant et a la longue c'est chiant, je regrette de pas pouvoir me faire rembourser car j'ai acheté le jeu y a trop longtemps.
Vraiment dommage car c'est le même studio que The shapeshifting que j'avais beaucoup apprécié.

I really enjoyed this game. Now, I will preface this review by saying that this game is definitely not for everyone. It is an interactive movie of sorts and a lot of people, I am sure, won't be entertained. As for me? I really enjoyed the atmosphere of each episode, it reminded me a lot of the X-Files, in a way. The characters were engaging and the acting was, in my opinion, well above average. There are a couple of really tricky parts in the game that require some quick thinking, but overall the game wasn't too incredibly difficult. I would definitely like to see Poe and Munro again!

Dark Nights with Poe and Munro is a collection of six FMV episodes featuring the titular Poe and Munro, radio hosts who keep getting into spoopy situations. While the game has high production quality, it is hard to take this game seriously due to its many flaws - most of them being script-based.

I really think more people needed to look over Dark Nights' script before making this game. The story feels incoherent - the six episodes feel standalone, but some are loosely and not well connected - an episode happens, and what happens in the next one is independent of the last episode. Due to this, all the mysterious stuff that happens is never explained. Ambiguity is fine, but it doesn't feel well done in execution. Aside from the story, the tone is pretty all over the place - Dark Nights doesn't know what it wants to be and bounces from silly to spooky to serious to romantic to horny, resulting in a rather fever dream atmosphere.

Additionally, Dark Nights has a few other issues. Any time a character does a violent action, it's always incredibly poorly done, and it feels more goofy than serious. Choices the player make, like the story, are very ambiguous, and don't often know what the option you're picking means. Lastly, the opening credits and next-time-on segments for each episode are overplayed and ruin the pace.

Overall, I cannot recommend Dark Nights with Poe and Munro due to its flawed story and, at times, poor presentation.

There are objects or people that you can click on and this "choice" is how decisions are made in the game. Unfortunately you do not know what the choices even represent. You can often assume, but you are never for sure. Is it fun to be given choices without context in a choose your own adventure game? For me, the answer is no.

the game was somewhat fun but i dont think i can reccomend it
its a episodic FMV and im only gonna finish it for the achievements at this point.
Parts were poorly written, and i enjoyed other parts
It's too on and off imo and some episodes are drastically shorter than others, although that may be dependent on my choices
(i spent 2 hours on the first 3 episodes, and then a little over an hour on the last 3)

Hard to say I even enjoyed this for a little bit, maybe this game type just isn't for me. The dialogue is very cringe and the story lacks any engaging elements. I 100%-ed this just to cross it off my list, but it was tough to get through.

The devs seemed like they put a lot of work into this but I just couldn't get on board with it, 2/10
