Feels like one of those PS2 retro shooter games, I digged it
Believe it or not this isn't as bad as people claim, now don't get me wrong there a major problems here and ill get to that, but this isn't a 2/10 game.
Starting with the good: the platforming was impressive, the controls (on pc at least) were perfectly fine, detailed animations, it wasn't frustrating to navigate and the camera can be controlled at anytime, so none of this locked camera frustration. Movement felt good and it id argue its done better than uncharted as there is more you can do when it comes to climbing. The puzzles are a nice change of pace, while they are not complex, they were not super easy either and combined with the platforming I found it satisfying. Optimization is surprisingly good for a 2009 game able to run it at 1440p at 144fps with zero bugs or issues. The motorcycle sections were pretty good, as its fun to go fast race along walls and running into enemies. The pre rendered cutscenes have a decent level of quality to them that felt cinematic at times. lmao that's about it.
The bad: Its story doesn't make any sense and the game does a terrible job of explaining anything to you, or why any of this means anything outside of "if he gets this thing then we are done for". I think what happened is Blue Omega worked on the major story cutscenes first and was planning to use the gameplay to fill in the gaps, but that never happened. Due to technical issues during development, internal conflicts in creative differences studio Perspective (assigned by the publisher Codemasters to assist during development), multiple delays, a lot of developer crunch to make a hard deadline by Codemasters who were fed up of the game with multiple delays. All of these combined explain why this story is incomplete like we are missing important context that would make other scenes make sense, because in these cutscenes you can tell there is a seemingly solid story here. But yeah you not know what's going on who we are and why any of this is important. The 3rd person shooting is below average, there is no snap to cover, so no blindfire, guns have no punch to them, barely any recoil, only 5 guns in the entire game, no alternative fire mode or anything like that, no commands for your ai companions, instead of over the shoulder the reticle is above your head even when you zoom in, you can only reload when you're zoomed in, only thing that made it kinda fun is decapitating headshots with a sniper. while there motorcycle and puzzle sections to break up the pace there isn't a lot of them and the game drags a lot at times especially near the end, it gets really boring to shoot the same enemies and then climb platforms into the next area and do it all over and over again. outside of the bosses there is only 3 enemy types and the 3rd enemy type doesn't show up until the last 4th of the game. Bosses in the game is a joke they are no more difficult than normal enemies except the final boss where you do some platforming to drop something on their head. the game is most difficult when they throw a ton of enemies at you in a large area simply because of how many they are and not how tough they are. Its steampunk cowboy theme was the biggest standout to me as there is no other game that has done this to my memory, but sadly they do nothing interesting with it, its just window dressing across levels and even the window dressing isn't that impressive just big cogwheel machines, steam trains, railguns and steampunk motorcycles you have seen a thousand times. Overall despite some solid aspects that was fun for a while, it dragged into boredom with confusing characters and story that felt numb that i had to force myself to finish by the end.
This is a tragic case of a team made of unreal tournament mods (where this idea originally came from) turned into a game development studio to make this into a full game who didn't have the time, skill and manpower to get the job done, as the entire studio shutdown weeks after release. This and Dark Void are interesting case studies where you can see what happens to a product when there is development hell and ongoing internal problems effect the final product in obvious ways from what was intended. I give it a thumbs up because i love weird obscure games like these. But for most people the inflated price for a steam key for this isn't worth it
This is the epitome of trash, they didnt even test this game. Within an hour of playing theres a cutscene where you ride a ropebridge across the level. Then the annoying girl says theres a sniper in the tower so i zoom in 12x to his face, fire, and it hits an invisible wall and leaves a floating bullethole mark in front of his face.. It hit some invisible thing because the geometry in this game is poorly done. And besides that the games just bad and janky and wants you to jump from platform to platform which is so mindless and not memorable at all

Es básicamente un Tomb Raider, con partes de disparos en tercera persona. Las partes plataformeras son bastante buenas, el protagonista tiene muchos movimientos, los mapas son grandes, y muchos de los mapas puedes llegar al mismo punto de un par de maneras diferentes. La cámara hace de las suyas de vez en cuando.
Las partes de tiros son malas, y sólo sirven para molestar mientras intentas alcanzar un punto. Hay varias partes con unas motos futuristas en las que el control es horrible.
La estética steampunk está bien conseguida, aunque la historia es descartable.
Es un juego decente, sería un 7, y si hubieran pulido un poco los controles y las partes de disparos, hubiera podido ser un juego muy bueno. Si vas con la mentalidad de encontrar un Tomb Raider, de menor calidad claro y sin puzzles, con mapas muy grandes en los que tienes que ir hasta un punto haciendo plataformas y parkopur, puedes pasar un buen rato.

К сожалению, геймплей не хватает звёзд с неба. Стрельба ощущается кривой и несправедливой: главный герой стреляет неточно, в то время как враги отличаются чрезмерной меткостью.
Арсенал в игре разнообразный, но при этом разницы между оружием почти нет, а визуально отличить стволы на уровне сложно. Ну разве что снайперка мне в душу запала.
Уровни, в массе своей, большие и вертикальные, с прыжками по стенам и лазанию по канатам, но выглядят они однообразно и плохо запоминаются.
Для разнообразия есть гонки на паровых мотоциклах и езда по стенам. Звучит всё это круто, однако управление транспортом тяжёлое и неотзывчивое, из-за чего эти сегменты быстро утомляют.
В итоге игра была полностью пройдена за 14 часов и со спокойной душой переложена в папочку "Пройдено", но рекомендовать её могу разве что любителям редких и неудачных проектов конца 2000-х.

To be honest, the game isn't even that bad. It's a pretty cool setting and and nice style. Sure, it's old and lacks graphic fidelity but it's still okish to look at. The main problems are the controls and a lack of play testing.
Controls first - this is a platformer. Yes you heard me right, the shooting is more of a side feature. The shooting doesn't feel good, it's basic, the close range weapons are sh!t and the starter pistol is simply the best. The platforming movement is so hit and miss, that you often have to redo a jump so it actually lands. On keyboard it's also very hard to get into the controls since the mapping is very unintuitive. Even looking back to when the game was created, this is unacceptable. Some controls aren't even properly explained (e.g. how to pick up a weapon).
Another big hit for me is pacing. It's always the same in each level; get a cutscene of the area, go in and shoot everyone dead, find a way to progress. So shooting first, then platforming. The game surely wants to do both at the same time, but that makes no sense because then you just die as you're getting shot at while hanging from a ledge, desperately trying to control your character. So you just kill everyone from a distance - because going in close range often ends in you getting insta killed while your close range weapons are basically useless. And no, a sniper rifle won't save you since you have to slowly reload after each shot and ammo for it is sparse. Saving up also won't work since it has a low clip size. Standard pistol it is, everytime, everywhere, no matter the situation. After this action, you'll have a relaxing time to figure out where the ♥♥♥♥ you are supposed to go. Sometimes it's obvious, sometimes you run around for 10 minutes until you randomly make that jump you failed a dozen times before. Not sure if they even playtested.
On movement; the characters look buff and fit as ♥♥♥♥ (jojo style), very cool design. But apparently they have tiny hearts because you can only sprint for a few meters before stamina runs out. But oh man can he jump. Your jump range (if positioned correctly to the object you want to grab) is easily twice as long as you'd think. Especially fun on zip lines because hitting the correct angle is hard and jumping to your death will be common.
Enemies are simple, their hitboxes are big, they have not much intelligence and a handfull of bullets usually stop them easily. Downing automatons is harder, so you'll basically ignore those enemies in favour of doing platforming (they can't properly aim upwards it seems).
Now for the things i really like about the game: Story, character design and racing. Yes, there is racing. From time to time, you'll get a bike and do some wall riding and jumping over cliffs. It's not hard, it's not useful but it's fun and a cool aspect of the game. I love the trike in the beginning. The story is relatively bland, nothing we've not seen before but it's also not oversold. It's there, for things to happen and it doesn't try to be more than that. Now for the character design... it's amazing. I love it. Big buff dudes and hot athletic bad ass girls with big bazonkas carrying steampunk weaponry. What else do we need? Just pure stereotypical strong video game characters. I really miss this era. They look weird at times and you'll laugh at some cut scenes with tiny heads and giant hands, but whatever.
Interestingly, the game becomes better after the first levels. The graphics look better later on, you get used to the gameplay and controls - Act 3-5 (of 6) are actually fun to play!
Oh and there is online co-op. Didn't try it. Wouldn't want anyone else to waste money on it. I doub't it even works properly.
So, the big question is, should you play the game?
Actually, yes. If you're ok with the outdated mechanics and don't expect much, then go for it!

Discarded relic of the times before third person cover shooter gameplay was sorted out the base elements of camera, movement, and combat offered here are at best raw and unrefined.

The characters look cool, has a nice steampunk setting and there was a plot twist that kinda surprised me.
but the gameplay is very boring, i dont understand what the point was with the bikes. They are way too long and have nothing valuable in it.
Mabye if you play in coop it might be something, But there is no replay value and everything seems copy pasted. Go to point A and then climb. and it wouldnt feel repetitive if the level design wasnt literally copy pasted at some points. Atleast you can have fun unlockables where you can replay the game with different characters. The story is you typical tyranical takedown but they made it boring
so its an ok shooter but the rest is meh. Thats about it.

Esta é a segunda vez que jogo este jogo depois de anos. Lógico que para os gráficos de hoje está bem ultrapassados, mas continua sendo um classíco.
Um jogo com bom enredo e hístoria envolvente do começo ao fim, o único ponto fraco que achei neste jogo que não curto muito foi está questão de ficar feito um homem aranha pulando em paredes a todo momento, escalando escadas e cabos, tem horas que cansa. Do demais achei um jogo bem elaborado e as AI mesmo jogando no modo fácil são bem inteligentes e dificeis de se derrotar.
Daria uma nota 9.0 para o jogo.
Pena que acho que ele não deve está mais dísponivel para compra na STEAM.
Damnation is a game that's a hit or miss on some parts of the playthrough. I noticed some bugs, glitches and down right design choices that made no sense in my eyes. For example your character would start swinging trying to jump onto an obstacle and glitch through the textures and the world space. On the motorcycle you would ride the camera angle wouldn't move at all and you were left with an unpleasant riding experience. I don't know why the developers decided to make the driving angle static and not movable at all.
In the game you will be doing lots of combat and puzzles to get you along to the next areas. For some reason again the developers decided not to make a cover system at all and only allow a crouch button. You couldn't stick yourself against a wall at all for cover from enemies or explosions either. A shooting game like this should have had cover implemented but for some reason was an oversight by the dev team or a choice not to have it.
I personally will not play this game again myself not because its bad at all but because it lacked things to keep me interested and wasn't really a memorable gaming experience and felt generic. Another huge thing i noticed was how Damnation felt, looked and in essence tried playing like a Gears of war game. I thought i would like it based off that at first considering i love the Gears of war series but Damnation is a blatant knock off and tried a little to hard to replicate Gears of war.
Right down to the gun loadout specifically the gun loadout you would have 3 guns max. A primary weapon and secondary and a pistol too just like Gears of war. I'm not even joking when i say there was an enemy in Damnation called Prescott who coincidentally shares the same name with a character from Gears of war called Prescott too. It's just too similar for my liking and felt like a subpar game and it could of been better in my eyes or at least got given its own identity.
It's janky game, but it was really cool!

Um jogo bem bacana com uma estética Steampunk.
Esse jogo tem seções de plataforma que até lembram um pouco God of War e Prince of Persia em seus momentos áureos.
Tem uns puzzles interessantes em alguns momentos e um tiroteio que funciona muito bem, padrão qualquer jogo de tiro da sétima geração.
O Ponto alto desse jogo eu diria que é a navegação, ele não te dá indicação de nada e tu sobe, desce, cai, fica perdido zanzando pelo mapa, e por algum milagre vc parece estar sempre no caminho certo!!!
Não faço ideia de como essa bagaça funcionou no fim das contas, mas é uma navegação bizarramente intuitiva, haha
O defeito desse jogo eu diria ser a história, que é bem tosca e não cativa o jogador nem um pouco.
Porém... se você estiver disposto a jogar com o cérebro desligado ele é bem divertido.

Das Spiel ist nicht so schlecht, wie es in vielen Publikationen dargestellt wird. Es ist sicherlich kein grafisches Meisterwerk, aber es ist auch nicht so abgrundtief hässlich, wie oft behauptet wird. Im Vergleich zur ursprünglichen UT2004-Mod ist der Fortschritt beachtlich, auch wenn es mit Titeln von 2009 wie Bioshock oder Halo 3 nicht mithalten kann.
Der Sound ist solide. Die Musik ist unaufdringlich und passt gut zum Western-Thema. Die Synchronisation hingegen ist ein zweischneidiges Schwert: Bruce Willis verleiht dem Spiel zwar prominenten Glanz, aber der Rest der Sprecher ist kaum überzeugend. Die Dialoge wirken klischeehaft, übertrieben und voller Vorurteile – was das Erlebnis eher trübt.
Die Steuerung ist eine Katastrophe. Mit dem Gamepad war das Spiel für mich unspielbar, weshalb ich auf Maus und Tastatur umsteigen musste. Dadurch wurde der Schwierigkeitsgrad spürbar leichter, da ich Gegner endlich treffen konnte. Trotzdem bleiben die Bewegungen der Charaktere unbeholfen. Da viele Bewegungen von präzisen Markern und Winkeln abhängen, kommt es häufig zu absurden Situationen, wie einem unbeabsichtigten Walljump in der Luft oder unpassierbaren Hitboxen an Fenstern.
Das Checkpoint-System macht die Sache nicht besser: Man wird immer wieder an den Anfang eines Abschnitts zurückgesetzt. Besonders frustrierend ist, dass man Cutscenes nicht überspringen kann. Nach einer Stunde des immer gleichen Abschnitts, den ich wegen eines wiederkehrenden Bugs immer wiederholen musste, war klar: Dieses Spiel kann ich niemandem empfehlen – nicht einmal für 5 $ im Sale.
Es ist schade, dass es nicht bei einer Mod geblieben ist. Die vielen kleinen Schwächen wären in diesem Kontext leichter zu verzeihen gewesen.

Damnation est un bon jeu de combats, action, aventure, dans un univers futuriste mélange de Far-west et SteamPunk, le jeu est bien sympatique à jouer et distrayant avec de nombreuses missions à accomplir, des véhicules à utiliser dans certaines missions du jeu, Il a un gameplay dynamique ou dans certaines parties du jeu vous devrez détruire des éléments ou vous déplacer dans certaines parties des lieux ou autre pour avancer dans les missions du jeu en plus des combats, tout cela donne un bon petit jeu AA distrayant à jouer.

As seções de parkour tem os controles 'pesados' e imprecisos. As seções de tiro tem os controles lentos e as armas tem péssima mira. Gameplay nada satisfatório.
As pessoas que gostam do jogo falam de sua história e ambientação. Mas é dificil aproveitar a ambientação quando o gráfico e animações são tão ruins. A história se perde na terrivel dublagem.

В этот раз я воздержусь от подробных описаний сюжета и механик, потому что оно того реально не стоит.
Я помню рекламу игры с тех давних времен, когда у "Эпиков" были другие программы по предоставлению движка начинающим разрабам. Да, неплохо, что разрабам этой игры дали шанс. Вот только потрачен он был впустую.
У меня нет ностальгии по поводу этого проекта, поэтому хороших слов и похвалы тут не будет. Помните старый задорный боевик с Уиллом Смитом "Дикий, дикий Уэст" про стимпанковый Дикий Запад? Вот местный сеттинг - это оно. Только тут сюжет про борьбу со злым капиталистом. И наблюдать за этой историей откровенно неинтересно: пустые персонажи, пустые диалоги, пустое все.
Баланса оружия в игре - которая шутер - нет и близко; пол-игры вы будете стрелять из стартового пистолета, потому что он тупо точный и дамажит хорошо. Только гранатометы полезнее. Уровни вертикальные, но делать на них нечего. Коллектиблы есть, но собирать их неинтересно. Звук в игре отвратный - просто потому, что не отрегулирован нормально. Управление движением героя не самое удобное. Визуал, кроме задумки, не впечатляет примерно ничем, кроме детализации татуировки на заднице одной из напарниц.
Последней каплей стал кривой последний босс, прохождение которого зависит буквально от того, сломаются ли его скрипты на одной из фаз или нет.
Это невзрачная и кривая пустышка, а не игра, которая еще и паршиво состарилась. Не повторяйте моей ошибки и не тратьте на это ни время, ни деньги (даже на распродаже).
Альтернативная история США...как часто она использовалась в играх? Хорошее подспорье для сюжета, которое в наше время уже и не встретишь...Damnation попробовала воспроизвести этот сюжет в интересную историю, но вышло ли...?
Итак, у нас есть злодей, который хочет создать Американскую Империю, а наш главный герой вместе с друзьями готов преподнести ему кулак в лицо, приправленной демократией. Стилистика игры - стимпанк. Опять же, довольно смелый ход, с тем учётом, что даже в то время не каждая студия решалась работать с этим стилем, хотя он безумно притягателен и чертовски хорош. Наша цель - бегать по огромным "многослойным уровням", с довольно неплохими пейзажами, добротным левел-дизайном, уничтожать врагов из разнообразного оружия, решать несложные головоломки, побеждать боссов...ну и , собственно, проходить уровни. Игра прекрасно вам подойдет, если вы отдыхаете после тяжелого дня или хотите передохнуть от крупных проектов. Скажу честно, некоторые моменты в игре вызывали зевоту и скуку, но в большинстве своём игра проходилась бодреньким кабанчиком.
Меня выбесило в игре два момента. 1 - это в пустыне, с огромными пушками, где надо выстрелить в скалу и успеть уехать на победе в сторону. 2 - финальный босс, а вернее, одна из его стадий, где вам надо забраться наверх карты и скинуть на него ящик, находясь почти всегда под плотным огнём противника. Честно, эти два момента заставят вашу жопу полыхать, но как ни грустно, это по большей части единственные яркие впечатления от игры.
Стоит ли играть в Damnation? да, однозначно стоит. Стоит ли браться за неё всерьез и играть залпом? Однозначно нет, вам быстро наскучит. Лучше проходить её потихоньку, в спокойном темпе. Для себя в этой игре я открыл больше положительных качеств и аспектов, нежели отрицательных, поэтому могу её лишь порекомендовать, друзья. А пока вы читаете этот обзор, берите автомат, садитесь на мотоцикл, и вперёд, к тёмной башне, где восседает злодей...вас ждёт достойное приключение.

The terrain is almost the same and there is no map.
Ai are dumb and those who help you are more.
The weapons look great but . Terribly not accurate, weak, slow to reload and almost out of ammo.
The game is more about climbing and jumping or riding a motorcycle than fighting, and the battles are repeated.
You also collect blue tokens that maybe unlock codes for you or you simply find them on the Internet.
The sound is also bad, the clips are different from the game and when you turn it on.
There are no bots and the multiplayer is dead.
Buggy and terribly unbalanced.
Either with a discount, for nostalgia or don't waste your time.

This game tries to be a mix of Gears of War and Prince of Persia but fails in both regards. I really like some of the verticality of the levels and the premise but it isn't enough to save it. It definitely would have been better if it was several hours shorter. Honestly, pass on this.

A fun game, where actual "game" part is working perfectly normally, but all the menus (and potentially subtitles?) in English UI are broken beyond repair. Every text character, curiously except for studio names, is an oversized inverted comma, so any settings change or even game start is a guessing game.

[b]Damnation[/b] - это выцветшая движухо-игра от третьего лица со стрельбой и паркуром, где главной причиной для покупки является причудливое место действия - дизельпанковый дикий запад США.
Проект был создан энтузиастами на основе модификации к UT04.
Большинство профильных писак из изданий типа IGN, GameSpot и "Игромании" просто уничтожили его, увидев в нём поделку на 3 балла из 10. Но так ли это с точки зрения ничего не ждущего игрока-обывателя?
Сюжет крутится вокруг группы сепаратистов, пытающихся положить конец военизированной корпорации, почти подмявшей под себя все штаты армией терминаторов после Гражданской войны.
История в игре длинная, с несколькими поворотами (читаемыми и нет), но больше всего напоминает бред в горячке и сильно удручает дешевизной.
Главный злодей - вялый бородач, большую часть играния сидит на заводе и неосознанно ждёт приближения своего конца.
Жаль, что авторы не срисовали героев и часть шуточек из фильма "Дикий дикий Уэст", а решили выдать всё по-серьёзному.
Возможно, отсюда Джордж Миллер взял Фуриосу - однако не факт!
Но однозначно худший элемент в игре - это бои. Враги полуслепые, пиукалки не чувствуются, тела смешно дрыгают под ногами. Прилипаний к укрытиям нет, тумакораздача не даёт ощутимого эффекта, опасность для игрока представляют уже три попадания. 4 встречи в боссами не пугают, т.к. любой ИИ-болванчик запросто может остановиться на одном месте и ловить башкой маслины.
Напарники никогда не оставляют игрока одного, но пользы от них практически нет из-за эффекта штурмовика и высокой частоты падений наземь.
Интересная, но недоразвитая фишка - вызов индейского нутра. Правда, только с парой умений - подсветить врагов и союзников и поднять телепатией напарника с расстояния.
Чуть лучше обстоят дела с локациями. Да, они громадны и с живописными задниками, но в большинстве своём представляют собой серии халуп разной высоты или внутренностей-наружностей производственных фабрик, немного перемежаясь с канализациями и пещерами. Тусклые цвета местной индустриализации многим могут не понравиться.
Радует только перемещение по ним в духе "Песков времени". Тут, конечно всё попроще, но есть и прыжки с отталкиванием, и шарканье по выступам, и верёвки с перекладинами. Жаль, по тихому так обходить противников почти никогда не удаётся...
Немного разбавляют дрыганье телом поездки на мотоциклах. Однако один раз прокатились - и видели всё, ибо никаких сюрпризов на трассах нет (кроме очевидных обрывов).
"Головоломка" на всю игру одна, да и то легче пятнашек в 10 раз.
С технической стороны претензий к проекту практически нет.
Оптимизация отличная, вылетов не замечено, разве что после удачных спусков очень редко можно попасть в самоубийственную петлю - но тут помогает перезапуск контрольной точки. При восхождениях напарники могут проходить сквозь друг друга - наверняка особенность дизайна.
"Убогая" графика - это сетевые обозреватели Dark Void тогда не видели! Конечно, уровень здесь совсем не Arkham Asylum, но лица и костюмы детализированные, да и объекты вдали полностью трёхмерные.
Игра проходится за 6-8 часов в зависимости от навыка укладки и ясности ума.
Предусмотрен кооперативный режим прохождения кампании - как локальный, так и на почившем GameSpy - и несколько вариации смертельного кокошанья на отдельных картах.
Так что провалом типа Redfall тут не пахнет.
Сюжет игры мог быть сложнее и затейливее, персонажи - харизматичнее, противники - поизворотливее, а управляемый герой мог бы устанавливать больше особых связей с индейскими духами.
Всё же, если Вы цените своё время - то проходите мимо.
А если в своей игровой [strike]импо[/strike] апатии наткнулись и пробежали - то не оплаченные обзорщики Вам судьи!

For being about a cowboy with an arsenal of weapons fighting and climbing your way through a steampunk world this game sure is boring. I wouldn't bother with this unless you are like me and have to try any game you thought looked cool when you were a kid.
I think this game deserves more respect! Yes the shooting mechanics are not that great, characters are a bit cringy but the vibe of this game is decent! It's not great game of course, but it definitely deserve more attention. I liked it.
I like this game! It's a little rough, but it's perfectly serviceable: like a steampunk Gears of War at best.
You've got massive levels to run around which enemies also use parkor to navigate, the old standby weapons of pistol shotgun machinegun and sniper rifle with plentiful ammo,, a simple but entertaining tale of a crazed industrialist and a scrappy group of rebels, nice music, it's a stable game I haven't had crash or get stuck.
It's a lengthy game and it's simple but I'm not a complicated guy.
There's not much to find, the gameplay is pretty similar throughout, you can sometimes get lost.
But I didn't find any major roadblocks to a good time!

O game apresenta bons gráficos porém poderia apresentar texturas mais definidas. O jogo tem muitos bugs na inteligência artificial, muitas vezes os inimigos ficam apenas olhando o jogador atirar neles sem reagir, outra coisa é que o jogador não aperta um botão para se proteger em uma parede ou algum canto, isso deve ser feito de forma manual com o jogador se esgueirando em paredes etc...O jogo permite que o jogador carregue até 3 tipos de armas de uma única vez, entre elas estão escopetas, rifles com mira telescópica, pistolas e metralhadoras.

O roteiro na minha opinião é uma das poucas coisas boas desse jogo, ele se passa em um Estados Unidos aonde a guerra civil norte-americana(1861 – 1865) se estende por várias décadas deixando aquele País ao mesmo tempo devastado, e tendo armas e tecnologia muito mais avançadas do que as que existiam naquela época, ou seja é o estilo Steampunk que mistura vários elementos anacrônicos entre si, com um clima de velho oeste.

Am disappointed. Thought this would be a brainless schlocky mid-2000s cover shooter but it turns out to be about climbing. Will I eventually finish it? Who knows?
It's one of the most average games I can think of its not good it is not bad either there's some really cool driving sections with a steampunk motorcyle and the ending siege isn't that bad either the western & steampunk setting go together really well I enjoyed my time in this game even with the issues it has most of them being design and story choices.
Yeah get it on sale and save it for a weekend it's short and bittersweet
(Note its around 4-6 hours I just fell asleep playing this game twice)

O jogo não possui um enredo muito claro, muitos elementos são confusos e o jogo peca muito ao não ter dado pelo menos uma intro antes de já colocar o jogador no meio de um tiroteio.
Os personagens até tentam ser interessantes, ainda mais com o visual steampunk, porém os diálogos são previsíveis e os conflitos internos são totalmente fora de lugar e algumas vezes são explicados bem após, o que torna toda a história confusa para se entender.
Ah, é um jogo bem pesado (Ocupa uma pedação de espaço do HD em vista do que ele entrega)
Sinceramente eu fui até uma certa parte e me cansei - Eu te recomendo a não cair na armadilha de "Ah mas o jogo tá barato, vou comprar pra passar um tempo" porque você vai passar raiva.
Lógico, podem ter algumas pessoas que acabem gostando, mas no geral dos reviews positivos eu vi mais casos de nostalgia.
A mira é horrível, jogabilidade ruim, vários bugs no jogo, sistema de direção de veículos péssimo e os inimigos as vezes tomam milhares de tiros, mesmo no modo mais fácil, porém não são derrotados.
Ah e se você não curte jogos que demandam muita locomoção e acrobacias para chegar aos lugares, definitivamente não é o jogo para você, porque é toda hora pulando, subindo e escalando todo tipo de coisa.

Es un shooter, el gunplay da pena.
Historia típica y super simple. Personajes sin carisma. 0 Movimientos faciales.
Enemigos repetitivos, jugabilidad repetitiva, presentaciones con calidad 0.
Los mapas están dentro de todo bien diseñados.
Tiene un sistema de parkour muy bueno donde trepas como simio por todos lados.
Raramente tiene una especie de moto y esos momentos son divertidos.
El único momento que vale la pena es en el jefe final.
7 Horas que pudieron ser 3, ya que es muy repetitivo.
Yo te diría que si tenes una pc potato y queres jugar algo mediocre, este es tu juego.
Soy de jugar cosas así mal calificadas y no te voy a mentir, por ahí lo reembolsas al segundo.
4/10, si o si en oferta y lo califico positivo porque tiene algunas cositas que me gustaron.

I can take those mediocre mechanic as it is an old game but what I can't really forgive is its atrocious checkpoints.
Play it only if you have time to kill, if your time is precious play something else.

Damnation falls really short in everything and the first you immediately see as an example are the graphics.
Even for its time graphics are really bad - everything is kinda blurry and steamy. Steamy not as steampunk steamy because these bad graphics have nothing to do with the game's style.
It doesn't matter how big were Codemasters then. Not even their supposedly small budget, as much. There are many other small studios with games even a decade older than this one but with graphics that are way better and moreover - bearable. I don't have a problem with retro/classic games' visuals but quite the opposite. However, these ones here are pretty bad. And the poor visuals are even more noticeable in the cutscenes.
[u]Gameplay:[/u]
[*]The world is big and has a premise of it being appropriately used by the steampunk western style and the story of the game. Sadly, the world is pretty empty and unutilized. There's nothing really to do. There are only two moments in the game that have puzzles and those moments are towards the middle/end of the game.
The occasional times when you ride the steam powered motorbikes is pretty linear and uninteresting, even the cool concept of riding steam powered bikes and the ability to ride the walls can not save this. You ride from one checkpoint to another, passing by an empty terrain with the very occasional enemies appearing at some places shooting you from a distance, as if they were put there to fill up the empty game world.
[*]Combat is pretty clunky. When shooting you have to stand in a pretty clear area because if you stand behind a balcony rail or you are somewhat behind a wall (even if your aim is on the opposite side of that wall or above the balcony rail) it seems like the weapons' ammunition can not hit the enemies because of that. As if both walls and balcony rails have some invisible extensions that stop the bullets.
Weapons are nothing special and the only I kind of enjoyed is the sniper rifle, as the other ones are hit or miss (literally and figuratively), as already explained above.
[*]Your character has a special ''spirit vision'' ability to sense enemies, similar to the eagle vision in Assassin's Creed. But it's not really useful. There isn't anything in the gameplay to combine it with so that it makes sense of it being useful. You can't shoot from cover or kind of surprise kill enemies or even avoid them, to make sense of that ''spirit vision''.
[*]Storywise this is not supposed to be a story rich game so, again, that's fine. It's pretty straight forward, following a group of people trying to catch the bad guy while he is trying to execute his evil plan.
[*]Both enemy AI and allied ones are pretty badly designed.
You start the game with at least one companion, so the game kind of gives you a chance to not feel completely lonely when playing a single player game. But things go pretty south right there. Allies themselves are useless. Enemies can down them pretty easily and that's because they basically stand in the open area, till enemy AI empty their weapons. That's probably because of the same thing I mentioned above - if you are near a wall or a balcony rail you managing to shoot an invisible wall is more accurate than any of the weapons in this game. And probably the allied AI knows that.
Also, the ally AI seems to have some weird body twitch while being shot at. As if they are moving to the rhythm of bullets hitting their bodies. Only thing that's missing is them doing the ''rock on'' hand sign at the same time. Then everything in that weird movement would make more sense.
Enemy AI is pretty bad too. Some times they just sit in one place and let you shoot them to death. Nothing interesting or decent here.
[*]Damnation introduces some nice platforming, combined with cool parkour style of traversing. However, some things like jumping to climb off from one wall to another quite often requires you to repeat the action till it actually works. Positioning to climb a ladder is pretty broken too.
[h1]Conclusion[/h1]
Overall, do not be fooled by the premise of this game. This could have been, if not amazing, maybe a decent steampunk, third person, adventure game, set in an alternate western style America, with cool steampunk motorcycles and weaponry. However, it ended up, what it seems to me, being an ''exotic'' experiment for Codemasters. And I'm not being sarcastic, just my honest opinion.
And it's all there. It's just empty and really poorly done - really bad graphics and bad and clunky gameplay. This is not the worst of the worst but it's a pretty bad game. It's not even a case where I can overlook a flow in some parts of it if the game excels elsewhere, because it doesn't.
There are too many amazing games - old and new, for someone to waste their time and money on this one. I can't recommend it even to those who have extra money to throw away, not even if it's on sale for €1. And for those of you on a budget - don't even bother spending whatever money you've saved on Damnation.
And I wish I could recommend one that comes as near Damnation's main style, (steampunk, third person adventure with a similar setting) but I can't really think of one that comes somewhat close. However, you can't go wrong with any of the Tomb Raider or Bioshock games, as long as their premise is what you are looking for.
Other than than - You've been warned.

Давно хотел пройти и вот добрался я до Damnation.И эта игра боль,в ней нет совершенно никакой фишки что бы доставляло радость от прохождения,разве что финальные титры (их нельзя пропустить)тут тоже боль.В игре отстойная стрельба,тупые противники,плохая графика,странный дизайн уровней.Единственное что можно отметить это интересный сеттинг .В общем и целом,её стоит проходить если у вас очень усталое железо,или из-за ностальгии по 2009 году как у меня.Брать исключительно по скидке.А лучше вообще не брать.Не зря Blue Omega Studio после этой игры закрыли.
Когда-то давно читал про эту игру в журнале "Игромания", и поставили ей тогда (по-моему) 3.5 балла.
Впрочем, самому ознакомится куда интереснее, к тому же за малую цену по скидке.
И да, если серьезно воспринимать продукт - то мало кто будет терпеть геймплей в рамках такого абсурда с сюжетом. Возможно это русский дубляж, возможно из-за того что игра не расчитана на 60+ FPS, возможно и то и другое являются причинами каких-то ускоренных диалогов в 1,5 раза. Сложно объяснить, но для упрощения представьте, что все диалоги персонажей (как в геймплее, так и в кат-сценах) практически без пауз и в немного ускоренном темпе.
Ощущается неопытность разработчиков в жанре - топорная анимация, плохой импакт от стрельбы, тормознутость ИИ и общая затянутость уровней (особенно последнего акта). После половины игры было сложно усидеть больше 40 минут.
Если же Вы, как и я, пришли в игру развлечься, то первые 2-3 часа все эти анимации и поступки ИИ во время боя забавляют. Уровни еще не наскучивают свой длительностью, акробатика остается интересной (она тут, кстати, на манер прошлого поколения игр Tomb Raider, вроде Underworld или Legend), а уж какие пейзажи открываются - этого не передать.
К тому же на каждой локации так и веет гигантизмом, за что разработчикам только плюс в карму. Антураж интересный, и в альтернативной вселенной игра явно стала бы убийцей или соперником серии Gears of War. Но как получилось, так и случилось.

эта игра грубо говоря моего детства хотя мне щас всего 18 лет но как же было приятно найти эту игру с учётом того что я не помнил её названия и просто случайно в браузере наткнулся на картинку с ней и тут понислось мой инвентарь в стиме был не очень богатым но я продал всё и кое как наскрёб эти 250 рублей чтоб её купить и вернуться в эту атмосферу самое кайфовое в этой игре это моцыки и сюжет пускай игра и очень кароткая но незабываемые ощущения она точно вам подарит если вы не делаете акцент на графику ) школоте не понять то что я испытал . в общем советую если вам надаели новые игры и вы хотите чё нибуть старенькое всем удачи и пока
Fiquei interessado pelo jogo por causa da tematica steampunk que eu acho bem interessante. Mas o jogo se mostrou uma decepção. Não tem nada de interessante. Só as partes de parkour que divertem um pouco, mas podia ser melhor. A unica coisa divertida mesmo é explodir os inimigos com bombas. Ainda bem que comprei na promoção.

- Steuerung setzt manchmal aus
- Waffenauswahl nicht breit genug (auch wenn es nicht nötig ist)
Fazit:
Bei Damnation habe ich eigentlich mit einem Trashtitel gerechnet, den ich wieder sofort von meiner Festplatte verbanne, aber dem war nicht so. Es ist ein solider Third-Person-Shooter in einer Steampunkwelt. Hervorzuheben sind hierbei auch die Kletterpassagen, welche durchaus auch knifflig sein können und die Passagen in denen man mit dem Bike fahren kann. Dabei wechseln sich die Passagen zwischen Schießen, Fahren und Klettern in gesunder Weise ab. Leider setzte ab und zu auch mal die Steuerung aus und man landete ganz tief unten (oder war tot).
Die Grafik ist für das Jahr wo das Spiel herauskam relativ Okay, könnte aber auch besser sein. Den Sound fand ich gut, besonders wenn es ordentlich Action gab. Loben möchte ich auch das Leveldesign, welches gut in diese Welt integriert wurde.
Eine große Schwäche dieses Spiels ist jedoch die platte Story. Ja ich weiß das Steampunk gerne mit Magie gepaart wird, aber die Sache mit dem Seher hat überhaupt nicht reingepasst. Da hätte man mehr drauß machen können... Ein weiterer Punkt der mir nicht gefallen hat, war die Waffenauswahl. Man kann nur 3 Waffen mitnehmen. Wenn man eine andere Waffe mitnehmen will muss man sich entscheiden welche man dafür ablegen will. An und für sich ist das in Ordnung, aber ich habe das Spiel durchgespielt ohne diese überhaupt zu tauschen (Nur Scharfschützengewehr, Sturmgewehr und Pistole vom Anfang). Wenn ich getauscht habe, merkte ich sofort das ich mit den Waffen ein schlechteres Ergebnis erziele und tauschte wieder zurück... Trotzdem überraschte mich der Titel etwas und ließ mich das Spiel innerhalb von 8-9 Stunden durchspielen. Empfehlenswert!!!!

Damnation is a decent adventure with some flaws. My biggest gripe is that some weapons feel a bit weak. But I liked the occasional driving, the alternative paths and especially the verticality of a lot of maps. Recommended to adventure players.
well first of all to me it was kinda like a bad shooter mix with tomb raider (which is another bad shooter imo) so i dont like it... i give it 4/10
the map/level design was cool tho and the story is kinda ok i dont care for it much... but its not bad that will give me a headache but its just ok...
the map design is what i aplaud the most i mean like if it has stealth with the parkour mechanics would have been great... but sad its not so no point in that...
and i think it would be cool if it has superpowers like magic or rpg game as well which has classes and all with skills, its kinda meshed up with the feeling or the everything that is designed as it is... just if has it has skills, melee and magics the game would go way better... but it doesnt have too coz the movement mechanic is simple i thought it would be cool if it was spiced abit with some rpg superpowers... so it doesnt have that so another sad thing so there is no point there...
the shooting is bad... so simple until it has no immersion at all... but if it has stealh/melee/assassination and magic/skills it would have made up the lack of bad shooting... and with the pathfinding puzzle arent interesting as well... i got bored and im like in act 4 now it so bad im not gonna play this game again due to the pathfinding stuffs... its a bad mix with the shooter i mean if the dev focus on shooting with less or simple puzzle for pathfinding that would be great, but it doesnt so the shooting is bad and the pathfinding make it much worst... idk why i even want to play the game anymore...
the reason i bought this is because of coop... but the game (shooting & pathfinding) was so bad im not gonna play it even with coop anymore... but the level design and atmosphere is great... i would give 8/10 for the map design... but not the gameplay...
the climbing is chilling and all, it gives me chills when i climb up so high until i got panicked and try to press random buttons to save myselves... luckily i never fail yet thank you for the controls... but climbing in this game is epic... just the puzzle/pathfinding sucks and confusing... and plus i dont play this game for extreme pathfinding puzzle... but for those who enjoys it good for you... i mean the pathfinding puzzle would have been worth it if we are satisfied with the combat right? but the combat is soo lame and its just puzzle and puzzle and puzzle here and there so its boring...
so all n all 4/10 for me... the only thing i applaud is map design... nothing more... tq
Damnation - это шутер с присутствием некоторых элементов из Tomb Raider. Игру освоить не так уж и сложно. Игра мне понравилась не смотря на "разнообразный" геймплей
Плюсы: уровни внушительных размеров; интересный дизайн; возможность погонять на мотоцикле по отвесным стенам.
Минусы: графика не очень привлекательная на момент 2009-ого года; выше упомянутый "разнообразный"гемплей ; слегка туповатые враги.
