Creeper World 2: Redemption

The perspective is a bit odd being on the side as compared to top down for the first game. But overall a fun time.
It started rather boring and repetitive and after 12 missions still stays that way. It's quite easy puzzle game so far. All buildings are unlocked so there is no improvement in sight.
The premise of this game is excellent. Push back the Creepers with your weapons; meanwhile Energy is everything - without it nothing will get built in time. It's like Tower Defense with a timer on it. And I LOVE TD games.
Here's the problem:
Once you get to level 13, it's no longer any fun AT ALL. I've played for 26 hours, and literally 20 of them were spent on this level, which I've played 35+ times, and even with YouTube I am unable to crack it.
It's looking like "Developer Nerd Rage". (Dude is like... "I will make this so that there is only ONE solution!")
At this stage, it's all about fast-twitch response. Basically an arcade video game (Donkey Kong, Ms. Pac-Man, etc), where the difficulty grows exponentially, and you have to put in hours and hours to get good at it. It's no longer a TD game. It's Frustration-squared.
If that's okay with you - playing the same level for days with no success, and you like challenges like that, this is 100% for you.
The price is right, but for me, the gameplay isn't.
Cheers!

Interesting twist from the first game.
Game is fun. Level 13 is stupid.
This is an odd one, while not a complete departure, I tend to thing Creeper world one and three have a more concise vision. Some of the mechanics here feel cobbled, less refined than they were originally, however even with the switch from top down to 2d this Rts doesn't fail to engage, It has a simple story, the creeper is back, but I would be lying if I didn't say I was at least a bit intrigued as I moved forward through the main campaign. This game introduces plenty of fascinating new things, and I think for that it should be praised, 8/10
its a fun tower defence that'll drive you crazy at times
A unique version of Creeper world that is different from all the others yet still quite familiar. Was a gun game to 100%. Personally I felt the bonus levels were notably easier than the first creeper world. But I also know that the next game, Creeper world 3, will fix that in spades.
I got all the creeper worlds in a bundle pack so this was well worth the fun. Plus, even after you beat it you can take on randomly generated levels too for infinite play value if you really like it.
Fun little game, no tedious prolonging
Solid throwback game. Great if you love turtling. I prefer #1 over this, but this one does add more depth and strategy I feel.
This is my zen game I come back to, even after 10 years, when I want to kill time and chill after work.
They changed a lot of things from the original game and it's still a great experience!
I got through the Campaign and I think a couple of the missions are annoying, but it it good overall. I did all the Bonus Missions and I think they were all fun. If you like Creeper World 1, you'll love this. If you like rts and tower defense this is a fun take on it, not many games like the Creeper World series.
Pretty bold sequel that fully changes the perspective of the game while keeping a lot of core concepts intact. Compared to the first game the later missions can be very challenging, although you can still have a "chill" time of it once you stabilize against the main threats in many maps. My one gripe is that some missions seemed to require a very specific solution to solve, while the game is at its best when you have some room to experiment with options.
Cryo-Approved
A short, well put together RTS that never ceases to excite, or in certain levels, annoy.
Honestly, this is a really good game. There are a few small elements which quite annoy me, notably the instant loss condition if creeper contacts a lifepod (if you get to a certain one where mining ground is hazardous, I said hi!), but it's been overall quite good and there's a lot of variance in how the levels play.
Been playing this game for years. 100% recommended
Variation on the mechanic, but still the same creeper.
Big fan of the vertical gameplay
It's ok, but I would argue it's the weakest of the first 3 Creeper World games.
Creeper World [1] and Creeper World 3 both have a relatively basic top-down view. Creeper World 2 has a vertical orientation, where you start in the 'air' and dig under the ground. It changes up the gameplay significantly, but I don't like it as much as the original or its sequel. It's still a solid, well-developed game, worth its price, but I would recommend Creeper World 1 or Creeper World 3 before Creeper World 2.
Good adaptation into a side-scroller perspective. Dealing with Creep density is a fun challenge. Makes sense why it went back to being top down for 3 and 4 but this was a fun experiment :3 like a 7.5/10 idk
Fun strategy game with a kinda interesting story. It was nice to see them pic up where they left off in the last one here.
The game is okay fun, but very different from the first one for the worse. I still enjoyed the campaign and new mechanics. I wish moving units wasn't so clunky. I'm glad to see the third game went back to the format of the first game.
I 100% finished the first game before moving on to this one. I must say, immediately I prefer the gameplay of this over the original. The og was quite fun to play for most of the story, but by the time I started doing the extra missions, it started to get kinda tedious and repetitive.
However, this game has not had that effect. I'm nearly done with doing all the achievements, and every mission still feels quite fun and fresh. Each mission is more of a puzzle to solve, and you cannot always just brute force your way to victory. Though I will say, some missions in the story felt a little bit unfair, especially with some random ♥♥♥♥♥ the game just threw at you, which you'd have no way to prepare for unless you looked up a guide beforehand. All the game tells you is basically 'Be careful', but doesn't bother telling you that unless you prepare your defenses in a very specific way, you're just screwed.
That being said, I did enjoy this game way more than the first one. The sidescrolling view works pretty well, and the new tools are quite fun. Unlike with the first game, this one I could see myself returning to eventually, just to do some of the fan-created content or other of the bonus non-achievement content!
8/10. Good fun for the price.
Nice game!
Not that bad. Long playtime is cuz i take my time with levels sometimes. Recommend using saves a lot.
From the bonus missions, only assault really puzzled me at first, but just start producing anticreeper asap and dont forget shields, its not that bad.
Didn't enjoy this one as much as the first game but still a very fun and oddly satisfying tower defense.
yes
:D
easily the most slept on game in the series
I got into the series with Creeper World 3 and 4. Here in 2025, Creeper World 2 still stands up great, and the side view is a nice change of pace from the others.
What's Happening ?
Server shutdown?
So long, and thanks for all the fish!
Was fun ride!

This was the first of the Creeper World games I played back on the browser many years ago when it was called Academy Edition or something similar. Still very fun and I'm glad to have finally finished it.
Interesting twist to Creeper World formula
Compared to CW1, interactions feel more 'up close and personal', gameplay is more lively, with less waiting around to clear large amounts of Creeper, and there are plenty of interesting weapons/game mechanics - ability to destroy terrain alone adds a lot of potential strategies!
bueno
Really liking this one. You would think that devs are a bit too experimental for sake of it, turning the original top-down view strategy to side-view one right at the first sequel. But it seems to be just a natural progression of game design. Because in the first game devs didn't quite know what to do with the idea. While in the second game it became more like a cool puzzlish management game because now you have much less space to build infinite resources on. And gravity + new friendly liquid give you tower defence style automatic advancement option.
Story mode is just right in length, more or less, getting brutal tricky at the end.
Overall pacing is still rather dragging, but I respect them. Cool music.
But tsk, the sound volume is WILD in this one. All over the place. Will abuse your ears, with some explosions set too loud. AAA!
Doesn't quite go all the way with features core 'engine' has built-in but mhm.
!
My first ever creeper world game, still holds up surprisingly well!
the precursor to the best game ever made
I like the new mechanic better than the first game
very junky satisfying game
sound volume is so broken :<<<
Played TONS on flash game websites as a kid and still love it now
好玩
A bit inferior from the first game but still a blast.
Fun sequel that adds a different way to play. Plenty of random maps to play.
Was recommended to me and I got to say, I enjoyed it a lot. While I don't know the exact title of this gameplay style, I just found myself drawn in and sinking hours and hours into playing the game, pausing, looking around and then planning my next move. It's loads of fun and super enjoyable.
Old but Gold.
GREAT CREATORS. ALL KINDS OF TWISTED TURNS GALORE..WORTH THE COST...
liquid
I love the Creeper World games and enjoyed most of the second installment, except for the time based trial-and-error levels.
They just aren't fun, just frustrating, and I haven't finished the game completely because of one of those.
Back to Creeper World 4, the boss.
This installment into the Creeper World series brings a literal change in perspective. The original top-down tower defense switches to a side-view.
The general gist of fighting off an endlessly oncoming liquid remains the same, however in this adventure, you will be digging through a narrow segment of the game world in order to get to the root of the threat.
The change is certainly interesting and refreshes the gameplay quite a bit. Mainly in the sense where it's difficult to tell by sight how much Creeper is located in an area. A single square can hold massive amounts of Creeper. Once you unleash them, well... Best hope you're prepared because that one square might devour you!
Not everyone might like this type of gameplay but as the second installment, it's certainly a test to see something different from the creator and it's definitely great to see that a small developer explores options. The third installment falls back to the first game and improves upon it. But I do think this game is a breath of fresh air.
2
At first I avoided this one in the Creeper World Franchise. I was introduced at 3, played 1 for the nostalgia, and love 4. This one just felt too different. I am so glad I finally sat down and played through this one. Uniquely different, the 2D aspect of the game provides a challenge I had not seen before, and when the final Victory! popped up when I completed the game I was surprised to find myself sad it was finished. While it is not at the top of my list when ranking the Creeper World games, I would still recommended it to those looking to experience gameplay in a different way.
For a flash game imported onto the Steam store page for $5, Creeper World 2: Anniversary Edition is not horrendous. Still, it is mediocre to the point where you would much rather play one of the most recent titles in the series rather than a SWF artifact. In terms of gameplay, each level has the player slowly build up their resources with a few bonuses here and there to create the illusion of diverse level design. After a few hours, whatever charm that this video game withers completely, and the only incentive to continue playing is to get all the achievements or have the right to say you beat this title in the Creeper World. In other words, you would have to suffer from some sort of mania.
I love the Creeper World games.
Creeper World 2 is fantastic little puzzle and real-time-with-pause strategy game. It's fairly simple and easy to pick up, but will require some persistence and head scratching to progress. The game doesn't tell you everything you need to do, such as arming certain units, and so some of the finer gameplay details are hidden for you to delight in discovering.
A real gem!
It's Creeper World. IYKYK
Perfect game for dull perfectionists.
This is far and away the worst creeper world game. The first one I can concede some finicky-ness because of age, but it's top down perspective made it bearable. This one's style is beyond atrocious, I was mostly playing it through for the sick creeper world lore but it's become intolerable. Mission 19 was the breaking point for me. It's a long slog that also requires you to be fast. I could get all the bunkers except the last one because 15 mil density and those drones who are legit invincible make it just obnoxious to crack.
I enjoyed it at first but halfway through the missions it AWFUL. I emphatically do not recommend this game. It has been a waste of my time.
flood the creeper with odd white viscous liquid
...
Having barely touched the web version of this as a kid, I was pleasantly surprised to find the gameplay of this installment is a fun twist on what the first game had to offer. It keeps things progressing in the usual Creeper World style, but with far more emphasis on micro-managing units and resources, leading to some very challenging, yet fun, stages in the later story missions. A good bit of content, especially for the cheap price, and an installment to the series that holds up well to this day.
It's a little different than Creeper World 1, 3, and 4, in that it is a side view instead of a top down view. I liked the variation, recommended if you like the Creeper World series.
Hidden gem. From the initial screenshots, it doesn't look like much but this is a puzzle game that puts you against the "Creep" and it's set of tools to take you down. The game is always putting you at a stalemate with the enemy and you have to work out the fastest/safest way to destroy all Creep on the map.
The premise is the same as the previous game, but instead is remixed and presented in that classic DigDug 2D view.
My only complaint with the game was the final level spoiled my experience.
You will get to the end and fight "The Nexus" and if you don't Google how to beat it, you probably won't work out how to do it. Aim 1 lasers at it as these are costly to run, and keep throwing Conversion bombs at it. You'll see the health tick down slowly, its a slow process but will get you the win. Be cautious of the constant spawning enemies, they'll happily use your Rift to get up to the top and win the game
Similar to Creeper World 1, High tempo electronic combat music... building and stopping the creep from underground. I guess I have to like it.
Graphics: Similar tileset and design to Creeper World 1. You can parse this game if you can parse Creeper World 1, but if you have any color problems telling blue/grey/white apart you are going to struggle with creep vs anti-creep.
Gameplay: Imagine taking the concepts of Creeper World 1, making it subterranean and instead of having the area around your ship gather energy it provides the light that powers the buildings around it. Upgrades have been changed from something you collect on the map to a resource you can divert energy to create (or find.) YOU CAN TURN OFF THE AIR RAID SIREN... THANK THE HEAVENS SOMEONE WAS SMART! Final mission has a jump scare, I hate you for having this stupid forced explosion.
Story: You play a commander who has a dispute with the alliance about the truth being given to a panel. The admiral keeps you busy sending you to planets while they fend off invading forces at home. You have to jump around the galaxy (without a map because tiled story missions are in and a galaxy map is out :( ) and save the universe. Yeah its about as bland as the first, but you get pictures of the characters.
I will give props, THE MUSIC IS GOOD. When did the development team go clubbing, because the DJ was rad and a serious inspiration to overstay a few of the levels.
The worst part about this is there are several "Race to the rescue" missions that have a timer but because of the light system you may not know unless you catch where the emitters are and where the cracked dirt is.
Games this good make you realize how bad steam's review system is, because people will negatively review the game just to make sure it's got negative reviews. But, you can't really make them prove that they mean their recommendation. So there's no way to fix that.
But seriously, perfect game. 1 and 3 are better in my opinion, but this one is still essentially flawless!
.
I really like this version of the attrition based anti creeper gameplay.
CW2 is probably my second favorite game in the Creeper World series (just behind 3).
The change in perspective gives the game a more puzzle game vibe and the level designs also tend to lean more in that direction.
Highly recommended.
Great game! I quite enjoyed how well this game scratched my time management, resource management, ant tactical thinking simultaneously. My biggest complaint is that there isn't another one I can buy. A great innovation on the standard creeper world series. 100% would recommend!
this is a weird, experimental entry between the janky CW1 and the polished CW3. the difficulty curve makes a little more sense, but just barely. i like the side-scroller view instead of the top-down perspective in the other games and it really helps differentiate the two flash-based CW games. please let me use dark beam in more levels
I prefer the missions that were available on Kongregate. I wish I could play those missions on this version. But it's still my favorite of the Creeper World games.
After over a decade of attempting to beat this game, hitting extreme difficulty spike walls, and quitting for years at a time, I finally beat the game 100%! It's not as initially enjoyable as the first game, but it's honestly pretty excellent once you get the hang of it. The final five bonus levels in particular are a blast to play! If you're looking for a hardcore difficulty tower defense / territory conquer game, this is the game for you.
This is effectively the Zelda 2 of the series for a ton of reasons. Creeper World 1 is top down perspective, has a gentle difficulty slope, and feels fair to play, just like Zelda 1. It's a zen difficult game where even the trickiest levels can feel calming to slowly conquer. Creeper World 2 on the other hand is a side view perspective, has multiple Extreme difficulty spikes, and can feel very unfair until you figure out the exact approach to take to beat the level after multiple attempts. It also adds a bunch of new building types, enemy types, anti-creeper, and gravity. Yes, it's literally raining creeper, and it's raining hard. Now to 100% Creeper World 3 (another top down title, so it's this series' Zelda 3: A Link to the Past) and 4 (a 3D version) before IXE (another side view game like CW2, but way better based on the previews) comes out...
Game is very good (not as good as CW1, but still good).
There is a bit of trial and error involved in later levels, but not a lot (my advice, save often in case you make a mistake, and don't be afraid to experiment and just see what happens).
The one sore spot in this entire game: Level 13 (Horror). This is one of THE MOST EXCRUCIATING levels in any game I have every played. Even after seeing tutorials on YouTube on how to beat it, it still took me 1-2 hours to beat it. I had 5-6 saves for this level, at various points, and I kept coming back to at least 1-2 prior checkpoints. Otherwise this would have taken me even longer. Most levels after this one are child's play by comparison.
Is good
You put the creeper on the skin or you get the nullifier again!
The missions were awesome until the last couple. After a while trial and error of loading and saving gets incredibly tiresome. I've spent the last hour trying to build a single building, and honestly I have absolutely no idea how to do anything at this point.
Levels are challenging but once you get used to them you can try to beat them in different ways. There are a ton of great player-made levels available to download. A great upgrade from CW 1 (although 1 and 3 are also great).
Though Caligula Simulator 2 is a sharp turn from the first one, it still captures the bottled lightning of the first title.
Good retro tactical game, in the later stages you have to hang in and survive and use your resources in different ways before you can think about how to achieve the mission - which is a good variation on tower defence. e.g. didn't use shields until Day 18 - and can't see how the stage is possible without them to hold off that creeper space invader.
Different but good
Very different from the top down action of the first game but still fun and challenging like the first one.
Has a good progression of difficulty.
The graphics are very simplistic, but this is not a AAA game. You can still get a good amount of gameplay out of it if you like these types of games.
Will only appeal to a certain niche of gamers, but it is a good game for those people.
cool
I enjoyed this game, but prefer the top-down views of CW 1&3. Overall a good game with some challenging levels.
Like Zelda 2, Creeper World 2 went with a sideways view. Its not bad, but it changes up the puzzle aspect of a tower defense. The later missions do become unfair and a lot of resets are required. Or scum saving. I would say I had the most difficulty in this game than any of the others (that have been released so far). Some of of the maps did feel unfair and required pixel perfect and millisecond timing. Mild Spoiler:
One that I really liked was creeper spawning on top of you, and then you realize you must hide the ship into one of the caverns
I would say this one is an interesting challenge.
Thumb up
I greatly enjoy these games and the 2d style of CW2 is a fun twist to the formula.
I started my defense against the creeper in Creeper World 4, it was so good that I had to go play the originals just to see how much of a difference there was.
This being the second one, I was surprised by a few things. As far as I can tell so far, 4 was a remake of 1, and IXE soon to be release is a continuation of 4/remake of 2. Now the totally different gameplay style caught me off guard in this one, but I was quickly left wondering "is it supposed to be this easy?". I burned through the first 10 levels in an hour, whereas the other games took a few days to get through that many levels. Now I'm not gonna spoil anything if, like me, this is your first experiance, But be warned, the difficultly spikes hard soon after,,,
kinda fun if you wanna play all the creeper world games, the first one is better though
Yep, Creeper World formula doesn't get old. After beating 1 and 3, 2 seemed odd since side view, but nah, still plays great
Recommended if you like TD turtle crawl with some hectic timed missions
It's good.
A nice take on Creeper World with a completely different game mechanic. You still shoot the Creeper, but in a 2D side-scroller style underground. There are some really challenging missions.
Great game!
