Secuela del primer Corpse Party. He de admitir que, cuando terminé al 100% las 2 versiones del primer juego, tenía curiosidad por cómo iba a cambiar la fórmula, ya que este juego es una visual novel con momentos de exploración como en Ace Attorney y al final resulta ser una bastante buena. Ya que a pesar de ser una secuela se toma el tiempo de contar historias de otros personajes del universo de Corpse Party, algunas son largas, otras mas cortas pero todas aportan mas profundidad a los personajes, por ejemplo el capítulo 4 de lejos mi favorito al entregar una faceta nueva de cierto personaje. En cuanto al gameplay, no es nada complejo, es leer y de vez en cuando explorar; eso sí, la exploración la encontré mucho más cómoda en comparación con la del primer juego, en el cual había muchos momentos de "¿dónde rayos estoy?". Lo mismo ocurre con los coleccionables, ya que por lo menos no los sentí tan pesados de conseguir, a diferencia de la primera entrega, al haberse simplificado la exploración. Al final, esta es una entrega bastante recomendable si te gustó la historia del primer juego, pero a su vez recomiendo sacar todos los finales del primer juego, ya que algunas de las historias presentadas en esta entrega usan de base esos finales alternos. Espero que hayan disfrutado mi muro de texto.

10/10 for Corpse Party fans!! It not only acts a sequel, but is a sequel for some of the different optional endings in the first game. It gives additional information on other schools and characters that we didn't get too much of in the first game!! I will always rep Book of Shadows as the perfect sequel to Blood Covered. The original Corpse Party was an absolute banger that can't be topped, but Book of Shadows came along and almost proved that wrong by delivering the most compelling (and frustratingly-hopeless) follow-up in the franchise.

The story is interesting, following the events of the "Time Loop Alternate Ending" from the first game; Satoshi & friends find themselves back in Heavenly Host, forced to once again navigate the horrors of the school while trying to save those who could not make it out the first time around. It's an interesting concept, and to keep things from getting stale, it even throws in some "flashback chapters" that show what the characters were doing prior to getting transported to the school.

The characters are the same as last time. If you liked them in the original, you'll like them here. Characters like Ms. Yui & Kizami's classmates get fleshed out a little more too, so you'll learn more about the characters you follow. Some characters get entire chapters dedicated to them, so by the time you're through, you'll feel like you've known each other all your lives.

This is Corpse Party we're talking about, so you already know the soundtrack is full of bangers. The main theme, the insert-songs (sung by Ayumi Shinozaki's VA), and Kizami's theme are songs I go back and listen to repeatedly using the in-game music player, and the other songs are all great too.

The achievement grind (because I know you're reading this, Nebblz) is a lot of fun. You basically have to 100% the game (get all the endings, collect all the nametags, listen to all the music, unlock all the VA interviews). All stuff you were already going to do anyway. And unlike most achievement grinds, this one actually made me love the game more.

Overall? Corpse Party: Book of Shadows is an incredible experience, and a must-play for fans of the original game (and its many remakes). This gets a certified Nori Stamp of Approval.

The second installment in the series, Book of Shadows once again takes you back to Heavenly Host, but this time with a different approach. Unlike the first game, Book of Shadows reverts to a more traditional Visual Novel approach and honestly, I think it's BETTER than the first game.

Given that many players picking this up are likely to have played the first game, this means less time needed to be spent on the setting and lore, with more time spent on the characters. Book of Shadows does exactly that, and both introduces and fleshes out many minor characters in the series, with a whole heap of different scenarios. The game also includes much more CG, and includes all CG from the first game if you have it in your library which is a huge plus.

Why do I think it's better than the first game? I suppose to me, the visual novel style of story telling is just more suitable to Corpse Party than a top down pixel style the first game opted for. Seeing things from the character's perspective has personally always improved immersion in any horror setting, the same way I'd argue a first person horror game will on average, be scarier than a third person title. I think this is where Book of Shadows simply works better and more effectively for the series (Corpse Party Birthday Bash 2U also follows the same style).

As always, the voice acting is excellent and the scenarios and endings creative. The menu navigation is also superior, along with all the extra content. You can also skip dialogue quickly and save at any point to try for different endings. If you were a fan of the first game but still on the fence, I highly recommend this game as at minimum, equal to the first game. I know I certainly enjoyed it more!

ik my playtime is low but i played this before on a different machine... wanted to review it here tho.

this game is a visual novel... mind blown. but it has a lot of dialogue nearly too much. let m explain..

theres overworld sequences where u walk arround the map and solve puzzles then theres the text sequences where u read dialogue and make lie threatening choices. the thing is this can go on forever i remember i had a moment where a ghost had asked me to return an item to it.. so i did, after this i was plunged into the basement and had multiple options on where to hide... i spent like 30 minutes to an hour going through all he different options and it turns out helping the ghost will always kill u...

this was my biggest issue in the game, choices tend to be binary like if option 1 leads to death theres no way out after picking it meaning that if u dont know what choicelead u to a death u could be stuck tryna find a solution forever.

that being said... most times deaths are either instant or occur shortly after the choice that triggers it, u will never have to reload more than like 10 minutes of progress unless u save the game weirdly then thats on u.

the game otherwise is good.. i guess.

the story focuses on the main gang from the first game as well as some newbies from other schools, i liked the chapters that fleshed out the old characters like mayu but i felt that at times the story dragged or had strange pacing.

it becomes clear how linear the game is by like chapter 3, nothing u do will really be impactful until the end which is fine i didnt expect a choose ur own adventure game.

my issue with the story is its essentially a giant retcon of the first game... basically the set up is the same but people die differently from the original and have different variations of screen time.

this game is canon but almost feels like a "what if?" plot, like what if character A didnt go into that room so therefore they dont die.

game is super gory....

5/5 would die again... also this game is pretty long... unless u binge it ig

＜昔買ってレビューを書いていなかった作品。通常のレビューより簡素＞

コープスパーティシリーズは好きなのだが、この遊びにくさはどうにかならないのだろうか。

本作は前作と異なり、RPGタイプではなく行き先を指定して隣り合った場所へ移動することになるのだが、移動のテンポがあまりにも悪い。

個人的にはゲームを楽しむどころではない遊びにくさで先の話が気になるより、遊びにくさの方が気になってやめてしまった作品だ。

こういう中途半端なゲーム性はいらないからこんなゲームデザインにするくらいなら最初からテキストADVにしてほしかった。

Great anthology of what-ifs, first 5 chapters seems well-structured while the rest gets a little bit lazier and short. Chapter 8 pays for it since it's the prologue for the 3rd installment: Blood Drive. Can't wait to play it next.

I’m quite disappointed with this second game after finishing the first one. This installment feels more like a visual novel with only minimal interactive elements; just a bit of searching or clicking on the map to progress the story, and nothing more. The new feature feels unnecessary; it would have been better as a full visual novel rather than incorporating a half-baked mechanic that ends up frustrating.

The first game was far superior. Even though unlocking all endings and collecting every name tag could be tedious at times, and the limited save slots were a minor annoyance, it remains a masterpiece in my eyes. I’m tempted to drop this game and move straight to Blood Drive, but I feel compelled to finish it for the sake of the story.

Весьма разочаровала эта часть. Хоть и является просто сборником экстра глав будто вырезанных из основной игры.

Сразу стоит сказать, что пропуская эту часть вы не потеряете ничего, ибо сюжета как такового нет, единственное что плюс минус раскрыло персонажа, ПРЕДЫСТОРИЮ, это третья глава с училкой Юи. Все остальные же...по факту являются просто трёхтонным описанием гуро сцен :)

Геймплейно это преимущественно новелла, с чем то похожим на передвижение по школе.

Все главы, как и было сказано, это просто беготня из комнаты в комнату, совершенно бесполезная и не имеющая смысла, ну прогресс буквально не ощущается, не ощущается будто ты продвигаешься. И заканчивается это всё долгой и в подробностях расписанной гуро сценой с аххх***ительным ълять артом.
И в следующей главе уже просто скучно продвигаться дальше, ибо всё заканчивается одинаково, не будет не продвижения, будет лишь смерть, кому то может и нравится ълять такое, но в плане игры это конечно так себе...

Пройдя до конца...я понимаю только то что затронул какую-то пропитанную рьёна фансервисом игру, привет демонофобии.

И казалось бы, потенциал есть, АЛЬТЕРНАТИВНАЯ ИСТОРИЯ, можно было хотя бы немного её РАЗВИТЬ, но нет, опять же, всё упирается только в мясо. Я конечно не говорю что все должны были спастись и мирной пойти пить кофе в старбаксе, но и захуууу****чить всех персов...Как будто бы не этого ожидаешь от Альтернативной истории, да и потом, в этой самой альтернативной истории не то что кто то спасся, тут напротив померли те, кто выжил в первой-то части)

Короче, если вы гуро-дрочер, это для вас, самое то. Но для тех кому интересен корпс пати, скипайте, ничего не потеряете, сюжета здесь как такового и нет)

If you wanted a lot of more interesting lore, then the game sadly doesn't deliver some of the times with that, especially with the prequel chapters. The game had an idea with kinda being a bit of everything and failed to fit them all in neatly

My biggest gripe is the very last chapter because the game is point and click and the very last chapter is easily the most interesting the mechanic has been throughout the entire game time

The voice acting is once again very good, especially with the wrong ends. The biggest issue I had with this game is A LOT of the wrong ends all either are way too short. The original one marinated in the horror and dread the other characters suffered through at those moments and their gutteral screams as they come to terms with their own or others demise at the hands of the horrors within the school

My personal favorite chapter is chapter 5 as we get to see a lot more of the characters we rarely see in the original game. My least favorite is easily chapter 4, as the original game explains all the stuff that happens there and to top it all off, the interesting stuff with those characters either already happened or it happens later in the game, on top of you already knowing the characters' fates going in

That's the biggest complaint I have (excluding all the bugs scattered throughout the game). The game kinda sets you up that it might be a battle to change fate, but they immediately throw that out after the first couple chapters, and while other chapters were good, like Chapter 3, they do literally nothing for the story and add meaningless context for the most part

The game has bugs, like lots of them, but the most annoying for me is the final achievement where you have to unlock everything in the game. I have every single item, every achievement, every item, every song, etc. and yet it still says 99.46%. 27 hours down the drain when I could've easily just played the next game in the series

To end on a good note at least, seeing a lot of the other characters get moments when they had little in the first game is nice! Especially chapter 7, since I know most people nowadays do not play the original corpse party and instead play the 2021 version, making it a lot more of a surprise for them, even though it is almost nothing new aside from getting special stuff because I was bored of the same exact story from the original game. Chapter 8 is definitely the most interesting the point and click was by a mile and it kinda sucks its at the end that the game shows what it could have been

In the end, if you just wanna play a horror game, I recommend you go and play something else, but if are absolutely dying to learn more about the characters before playing Blood Drive, then this might be worth playing through, but definitely not a completion. For most, I definitely do not recommend

Edit: I forgot to mention [spoiler] you have to get all the endings in book of shadows to get the final chapter or you have to complete the original corpse party by getting all of its endings (not the 2021 version, the older one on steam) [spoiler]

This game was boring for me, its basically a novel rpg type of game and honestly not my thing for a game like corpse party. Everything about it felt like it dragged on and on. If you like Corpse Party and are a die hard fan I'd say this game might be for you but for me, it just felt like a huge middle finger and just dragged so much it got to the point where I only played for an hour uninstalled the game and asked for a refund. I see where they 're trying to go with it but it just feel hard and flat nothing is really new that they added or at least to me. I don't really like the POV shot maybe if I didn't need to pay for it then it be whatever but for like 8 bucks nya I wouldn't really waste your money on this game.

Also the characters voices are really annoying to me in this.

Compared to the other games in the series, this one is very 'meh' and honestly just too fanservicey at times. I get that this is a series you have to accept a little bit of that with, but some of these sections just got kind of boring. If your a fan of the series and want to just flesh out some of the characters you didn't get to know too well then it's a nice little pass time game though.

The first person perspective, paired with the visual novel forma, works surprisingly well with horrors.

I will recommend it, but I have a lot of criticisms regarding the style and especially the subtitles. The style of the game, although interesting in relation to the new gameplay and story of the game, I feel that it could be more dynamic and interesting in this aspect. Regarding the subtitles, why didn't they add other languages? This is terrible because the English used is archaic and is often difficult to understand due to the context generated. If you can analyze these things, I would be very grateful because reading all the context before Corpse Party in a slow and boring way makes you lose interest. But, even with these criticisms, I also want to praise the new style of the game because it attracts a group that is also interested, and more context and history of the characters was super cool! I thank the creators for creating this style, but I ask that you add subtitles, please!

Highly underrated game. The chapters being associated with alternate timelines, past events, and giving filler for what happens during the first game can be weird and the exploration is a little tedious, but the visuals of each location and the addition of the Darkening gauge was brilliant. It adds to the thriller and Darkening makes it feel you're watching the character gradually lose their sanity in real time, especially with the first chapter. Top tier thriller.

Deleznable, debido a un problema con la mecánica del guardado rápido del juego te desaparece el cuadro de texto al cargar cualquiera de estos mismos guardados rápidos, y al tratarse este juego prácticamente de una novela interactiva lo hace del todo injugable. It's not the greatest but I had my fun with it due to reading the manga and playing the game back on PSP- so you could say I'm a fan of the Corpse Party genre.

My best advice: Go through chapters blind and once you get tired of being lost or not being able to figure something out (it can happen sometimes, I know it too well), def. check out the guides page only for a chapter to chapter basis, then do all the collection stuffs before moving on just so you don't have to back track.

[u][h1]REVIEW:[/h1][/u] Ain't no party like a Corpse Party. Our friends are back, all of them! Plus more! And now there are 1000 (More) Ways to Die: Corpse Party Edition!! Thank you, Sachiko-san.

Despite having a few story flaws, I loved this game. I loved seeing more of the characters and it did a hell of a good job. Even more so than the first game did in exploring character plots.

I immediately dove into this game after my review of Corpse Party (2021). The reason to play this game?: if you enjoyed Corpse Party (2021). If so, I'm sure you'll love it too.

[u][h1]RUNDOWN:[/h1][/u]
[u][h3] STORY[/h3][/u] The story elaborates much more on character backstories and introduces a lot of new characters. The plot is very similar, but it's told in different perspectives/alternate universes (even though it's canon?). It relates to an alternate True End in the first game, where Satoshi and his friends keep looping.

But the looping isn't really explained towards the end. I'd even go so far as to say it was forgotten. It felt a bit pointless. That, and Chapter 7, which unfortunately felt rushed. I really wanted to explore more of Kizami's "friends" reacting to his psychopathic nature for a longer time.

The horror is great and still disgusting as ever! There were a couple of times I'd even look over my shoulders, scared, after playing! But yes, much like the first game, there were fair amounts unnecessary bits in the story. Some of it was downright gross and not in a good way (Yuka's wet panties?! WTF...)

The ending SHOCKED me and sets up a great plot-twist for a sequel (Blood Drive).

[u][h3] GAMEPLAY[/h3][/u] Being a visual novel, I almost feel bad for scoring the gameplay - but there's point-and-click too. The exploration is not nearly as fun as the first game, mainly because there are LOTS of samey-feel halls. It features slight puzzle elements and you can make choices to affect the Chapter endings.

[u][h3] VISUALS[/h3][/u] The more I got into the series, the more I loved the character art. They're identical to the first game. The backgrounds are good enough, except for the overused-samey school hallways.

[u][h3] DIFFICULTY[/h3][/u] Just save a lot. I barely used Google for this game, unlike the absurd amount of times I did on the first one (which is a plus!). The real difficulty is to not get disgusted at some depictions of death.

[u][h3] MUSIC & SFX[/h3][/u] This music is better than Corpse Party (2021). A perfect example is the new "Wrong End" theme - a melancholic tune that resonates with the feeling of inevitable failure, but also accepting that you did all you could. Some audio loops are still messed up. The SFX are *still* basic, but fine.

[u][h3] VOICE ACTING[/h3][/u] So, originally, I felt the same as the first game - it's great, average and cringy. Sachiko's voice was as creepy as ever, though. Morishige's voice actor really went all out during this game too. Sayaka? ... Just no..

So, really? Almost everyone did fantastic and the game is almost FULLY voiced. Why didn't I score this higher, then, you ask? It took me a while, but I appreciate Japanese voice acting. Not being able to understand Japanese is tough. But, I ended up having a newfound respect for the VAs.

The only two reasons I didn't rate the VA a 9/10:
1) It took me until the final few chapters to appreciate the language barrier.
2) There are absurd amounts of cringy *MOANS* and *GAAAHs* and *ORAAUGHs* and *GROANS* - just like the first game. It's not the voice casts fault; it's the writer's fault; but I still had to listen to (or skip through) some of it.

Without all the crying and screaming, I'd probably give it an 8/10.

[u][h3] GRIND[/h3][/u] Redoing stories in order to find all endings is the only grind. Luckily, you can skip text fast and you have 64 save slots (THANK YOU FOR ADDING THIS MANY SAVE SLOTS!).

[u][h3] EXTRAS & SIDE QUESTS[/h3][/u] There's artwork from the game, "Gallery of Spirits". I've already seen the artwork while playing, so.. eh? The "Cursed Phonograph" which contains all the soundtracks from the game. An "EVP Machine", which is rather pointless, but it doesn't affect my scoring. And yay. More Student IDs to collect. I still collected as many as I could, though (OCD thing).

But the real GOAT, and the reason I appreciated these Japanese voice actors even more? It's the "Soulful Testimonies". Whether you're like me and don't care for Japanese voice acting, or you love Japanese voice acting, PLEASE - listen to these after playing the game. They're funny!

[u][h3] BUGS[/h3][/u] Some annoying bugs. Starting up the game, having 3 monitors and 1 TV hooked up really screwed with getting the game to even show up. I spent 2 hours trying to fix it and once I did, I had to manually click A a LOT to change the res/FPS. And this happened multiple times.

Weird FPS drops (on a visual novel?) that caused lag when pressing A on the next text, on Chapter 7. I fixed it by closing out the game, but everything was acting slow. Overall, it's not buggy, but if you have 2+ monitors, good luck :)!

Если не играли и не смотрели первую часть, то смысла начинать с этой части нет.

Тут нет целостной истории, все показывают обрывками, скачем от одной группы школьников к другой, от одних персонажей к другим, целостности нет совсем. Игра кончается, и задаешься вопросом - "и что?".

Первые две главы выглядят как продолжение первой части, с неким сломом 4-ой стены, когда Ты в первой части знаешь что будет дальше, и ГГ знает что будет дальше, а в этой части Ты и ГГ делаете так чтобы это не повторилось, я думал что замута будет в этом, и это показалось интересным. Но после третьей главы сюжет превращается в сюжет из аниме - нарезка нарезок школьников. Последняя глава отсылается уже к третьей части - Blood Drive.

Что точно в игре отлично - это звук, он просто шикарный. Хорошо звучат персонажи, хорошо звучит жестокость, очень нравится фишка с тем что звук объемный, порой когда тебе "что-то" шепчет прямо в правое ухо, доставляет дискомфорт и играет на атмосферу. Атмосфера жуткая и гнетущая. Мяса в меру. но не то чтобы прям много.

Если знакомы с первой частью - то вы и так поиграете. А те кто не знакомы, скорее не советую, так как ответы ни на один вопрос вы не получите, чисто поиграть в хоррор навеллу с высоким уровнем жестокости.

Ich bin wirklich begeistert von diesem Spiel und kann es nur weiter empfehlen.

Die Geschichte hat mich besonders fasziniert. Sie erzählt eine andere Version der ursprünglichen Story, fühlt sich aber trotzdem wie eine echte Fortsetzung an. Es ist beeindruckend, wie gut das Spiel eine neue Erzählung schafft, die vertraut, aber auch erfrischend anders ist. Die Handlung ist von Anfang an spannend und bleibt bis zum Schluss packend.

Auch das Gameplay hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Es erinnert stark an klassische Point-and-Click-Horrorspiele aus den frühen 2000er, die für viele von uns nostalgisch sind. Die Rätsel sind nicht wirklich fordernd und nicht frustrierend. Der Spielfluss ist sehr flüssig, sodass man gut in die düstere Atmosphäre eintauchen kann. Die Kombination aus spannender Story und bewährtem Gameplay macht das Spiel wirklich besonders.

Der Kunststil ist ebenfalls beeindruckend. Er ist sehr detailliert und unterstützt die bedrückende Stimmung des Spiels perfekt. Jede Szene ist atmosphärisch gestaltet und lässt die unheimliche Welt lebendig wirken.

Wer gerne 100 % in einem Spiel erreicht, wird hier auch zufrieden sein. Die Aufgaben und Sammelobjekte sind gut zu schaffen, ohne zu schwierig zu werden, was das Spiel angenehm macht, ohne an Herausforderung zu verlieren.

Insgesamt ist dieses Spiel großartig. Es verbindet nostalgische Elemente mit modernen Ideen, bietet eine fesselnde Story und ein unterhaltsames Gameplay. Ich würde es auf jeden Fall noch einmal spielen und empfehle es jedem, der gut erzählte Geschichten und atmosphärische Spiele mag.

The incredible soundtrack and Japanese voice acting take this from being a mid game to a great one. The story is all over the place but has it's great moments and although some have complained about the gameplay... have you played the original corpse party? That game is a nightmare gameplay-wise, this game I feel is a lot better gameplay wise and makes the school much easier to navigate. Also a nice length, I beat all chapters in about 10 hours. Must play if you enjoyed the original Corpse Party, do not play this unless you have played that game first or you will be really confused for a while. (I recommend 2021 remake)

[h1] Corpse Party 2021 vs Corpse Party: Book of Shadows[/h1]

1. Corpse Party: Book of Shadows is both the sequel and also the prequel to Corpse Party 2021. Book of Shadows will cover events happening before and after the Kisaragi Academy gang entered and escaped Heavenly Host in Corpse Party 2021. However, unlike most people's expectations of Book of Shadows being mainly a sequel, literally 12.5% of the game is a sequel. Just one chapter out of all that's in Book of Shadows is the sequel to Corpse Party 2021 you're looking for. Most of the game/chapters, in Book of Shadows, focuses on alternate endings to how Corpse Party 2021 ended. Many of such chapters in Book of Shadows are like extended versions or continuations to some of the bad endings in Corpse Party 2021. And they really help you understand the mindset of some characters more. The rest of the chapters are prequels, which I believe were two.

2. Corpse Party 2021 had a linear story - meaning, the chapters continued in order. In Book of Shadows, there is no order. The chapters in Book of Shadows are all disconnected from each other, and are all their own story from different timelines.

3. The biggest difference between the two is all about gameplay. In Corpse Party 2021, we took control of characters in a map from a third person, birds eye view, in a somewhat pixelated world. It was a RPG Maker Engine styled game. Well, in Book of Shadows, all of that completely changes. In Book of Shadows, our map is entirely made out of art the developers created that fit the whole screen and we take control of our characters in first person and sometimes encounter cutscenes and events in third person. However, unlike Corpse Party 2021 where we felt like we were moving a doll in a dollhouse, in Book of Shadows, you'll actually feel like you're wondering inside of Heavenly Host at the level (height) of the characters. And I think this element makes Book of Shadows way more scarier to experience. Unlike Corpse Party 2021 where you moved your character using the arrow keys or WASD, in Book of Shadows, you have to move your character by clicking on locations on your map. Also, unlike Corpse Party 2021 where you grabbed items by pressing your 'Enter' key, in Book of Shadows you have you to move your cursor and click in order to interact with an item - this is why others describe this game as a "clicker game".

4. The abundance of art in Book of Shadows exceeds Corpse Party 2021 by miles. That's all I'm saying about art.

5. There are new extras in Book of Shadows that we didn't come across in Corpse Party 2021. I won't spoil them, but I loved listening to one of them!

6. Unlike Corpse Party 2021 where there were like 25 extra chapters, in Book of Shadows, there is only 1 extra chapter.

7. Unlike Corpse Party 2021, in Book of Shadows getting darkened is now a thing, it's a new mechanic. You experience how darkening works and get a better understanding of how exactly it works, or what triggers it exactly. There is a darkening meter you have to watch out for. It can't reach 100% or bad stuff will happen!

[h1] My Thoughts On Corpse Party: Book of Shadows [/h1]

Just like how Heavenly Host hosts some thoughts of victims throughout the school, I have noted down my own thoughts while exploring Heavenly Host! XD

1. So first and foremost, [i]very[/i] painful cutscene to witness when you first boot up the game and don't head on to the main menu yet. It definitely has to be seen before the sequel chapter. I felt bad for Shinozaki.

2. Starting with the first chapter in Book of Shadows, chapter Seal, I just [i]know[/i] that it is based on the [spoiler]"Loop/Looped" bad ending from Corpse Party 2021 where Satoshi enters and reenters Heavenly Host forever and ever![/spoiler] Very interesting way (chapter) to handle that ending from Corpse Party 2021!

3. I didn't note the chapter down but I think it was Demise(?), I just [i]know[/i] that it is based on the [spoiler] bad ending in Corpse Party 2021 where Kishinuma doesn't check on Shinozaki when she gets possessed for the first time (or second time). [/spoiler] Once again, very interesting way (chapter) to handle that ending from Corpse Party 2021!

4. It was quite fulfilling to learn more about [spoiler]Naho and Yui Sensei[/spoiler] before the events of Corpse Party 2021. Their chapters were really well written prequels and helped me connect with those two more better. They were background stories that I needed!

5. After playing Corpse Party 2021, I felt displeased about how Morshige was handled. When I wrote my review for it, I mentioned that: it felt like he had too little screen time, that we didn't really understand how his personality turned 180 degrees and why he had to be left behind in Heavenly Host. I was left to assume that he changed because of [spoiler] seeing Mayu's splattered corpse on the wall on his phone in Corpse Party 2021. [/spoiler] But I couldn't help but wonder...was it really the case? Did that event alone completely change Morshige? And well, Chapter 5 of this game answers the personality change question. In Chapter 5 of Book Shadows, you can clearly see that Morshige was initially mentally fine/stable once he entered Heavenly Host but slowly succumbed to the darkening and became the twisted corpse phone photo loving maniac we saw in Corpse Party 2021. I got to be honest guys, it was really painful [spoiler] seeing Morshige succumb to the darkness in Chapter 5. He tried so hard to find Mayu, he tried so hard to fight his psychopath intrusive thoughts and focus on continuing to find Mayu but he just couldn't control himself. His twisted intrusive thoughts won and took over himself. [/spoiler] It was just so upsetting to witness that and made me sympathize with Morshige more. This made me realize that Morshige isn't really like Kizami. However, this explanation has to be taken with a grain of salt because....it isn't canon. At the end we learned Chapter 5 is just an alternate ending to Corpse Party 2021...this is the one thing that ruins this chapter, but, I guess it wouldn't be wrong to make the assumption that Morshige experienced a similar experience (darkness succumbing fight within himself) in the main story of Corpse Party 2021. So, I really appreciated this chapter, it helped me better understand Morshige and his thought processes as a character.

6. I just [i]know[/i] that Chapter 6 is based on the [spoiler] bad ending from Corpse Party 2021 where Kizami catches Yuka during the second wing chase in Chapter 5![/spoiler] Once again, very interesting way (chapter) to handle that ending from Corpse Party 2021! I loved something about it though, which is that we saw that [spoiler] part of Kizami is actually human and why Kizami is...Kizami! [/spoiler] The chapter really provided much needed background story to Kizami!

7. I just [i]know[/i] that Tooth (Chapter 7) is based on the [spoiler] Tooth extra chapter from the old Corpse Party. [/spoiler] Very amazing remaster!

8. Lastly, Chapter 8 [spoiler] the long awaited sequel to Corpse Party 2021, [/spoiler] focused on something interesting which was ambiguity to the deaths of those we lost in Corpse Party 2021 [spoiler] (why was everything about our dead friends erased from history while stuff from Naho, Yoshie and Sachiko stayed?} [/spoiler] I was so excited to play it, I was so awake during it from start to the end and I absolutely loved it. The end had my mouth open in shock.

퀵 세이브 쓰면 안된다는 리뷰를 보고 어떤지만 봐봤는데 캐릭터 cg일러, 목소리, 메세지 로그가 안뜹니다.
챕터 플탐도 99시간으로 뜨고 메뉴화면으로 나와봤더니 갑자기 도전과제 5개가 한번에 해금됬네요(아예 스토리 극초반이어서 해금될 도전과제가 없는 상황이었습니다) 버그 패치 방법같은거는 안보였습니다 퀵세이브 쓰지마십쇼..........겜은 재밌습니다

si bien algunos capítulos son mayormente irrelevantes, medio aburridos y con una conclusión demasiado abierta a teorías, puedo decir con certeza que la mayoría son bastante interesantes y divertidos de jugar y explorar, me gusta como este juego profundiza tanto en lo ya visto como en lo jamas visto antes y nos proporciona una historia mucho mas completa que complementa a la perfección el primer juego y de paso al final le da continuación que por cierto TREMENDAS REVELACIONES CABRONSISIMAS Y FINAL MAS IMPACTANTE LMAO NO ME LOS PODRE SACAR DE LA CABEZA JAMAS.
9/10 otro juego bastante bueno aunque demasiado dependiente del primero en mi sincera opinión pero bueno es una secuela / precuela / mediacuela / universo alterno de este mismo así que ta bien.

A good game that gives a great POV into characters like Morishige and Byakudan however I wish others like Seiko and Musashigawa had a chapter or two dedicated to them outside of being part of other characters chapters. Overall a good game! I would suggest this for sure but only if you like visual novel / point and click gameplay.

The writing and gameplay quality are both drastically reduced from Blood Covered. A fanatical obsession with iterating on the characters and events depicted satisfactorily in Blood Covered lead to difficult to stomach, repetitive, and thoroughly redundant scenarios. This problem is further compounded by the game's obtuse and anti-player mechanics and delivery. If you must play this game, do not bother playing without a guide in the hope of preserving a faithful first experience, or you will suffer far more than the victims depicted in the game. The one redeeming feature of this otherwise blighted game is the character of Sachiko, who retains all the charisma and fascination that gave her such a magnificent command of every one of the limited scenes in which she appeared in Blood Covered.

Book of Shadows is solid when views as a Gaiden to Corpse Party (2021). It's a collection of VN style point and click stories that take place in different points of the Corpse Party timeline.

Most of the chapters are stand-alone, providing either alternate universe tales or expanding backstory for characters. It's only the final chapter that connects to the larger story (for better or for worse, depending on your views on Corpse Party: Blood Drive), but it's nice to give characters the ability to show personality and new sides of themselves in this collection of tales.

My only critiques are that some of these do have some pacing issues - and the direction can be aimless if you aren't paying attention and good at puzzle solving (and even then, you may be scratching your head at a few points). This is not enough to turn all players off, but if you're doing a completion run - it might be trickier without a guide.

Highlights include more fleshed out elements of side characters from the first game, a great soundtrack and sound direction - and (depending on your view of characterisation) some pretty interesting stories for some of them.

While you wouldn't get anything from this if you haven't played the original game, as it's tied heavily into the established canon and doesn't bother explaining those concepts again - if you liked the original, it's worth checking out at least once.

That said, it goes on sale a few times a year - I'd suggest waiting til then to grab it. It's full price is a little high for the content you get. Snag it on sale though, and you should be at least pleasantly entertained by the Heavenly Host cast for a few hours.

BoS is a must-play for any Corpse Party fan, and I'll continue to stand by that.

Sure, the gameplay itself sucks, I think most would agree - While I'm not a fan of point-and-click the problem here is the cluttery UI and long loads each time you do as much as go to the next room. The exploration for a very exploration oriented game series surely leaves a lot to wish for.

Still the plot ([spoiler] Excluding Blood Drive preview. I've personal grudge towards it LOL [/spoiler]) is the best aspect of BoS. It gives all its attention to those unfortunate 4 who got neglected in Blood Covered with addition of Byakudan HS cast having some more time to shine too.

If you're hoping for the characters to have more oil in their heads, you're about to get dissapointed. You could be in the middle of the most heart-warming moment with all friends reunited before someone throws in "Bathroom break!" and gets brutally obbligerated in next 5 minutes. ([spoiler] Mayu and Nana, you know I'm talking 'bout you. [/spoiler]) Still, excluding a few of them, it IS surprisingly better compared to Blood Covered. Shangri La chapter will definitely be a breath of fresh air - for once you'll be getting worked up for reasons other than utter stupidity of fictional characters.

[spoiler] However, I've a feeling I'd enjoy the game more if right after Naomi and Seiko's chapter I wouldn't get my hopes crushed by the apparent fact that it's impossible to survive Heavenly Host for someone, who had already died here once. The plot point of the original characters dying in more grusome fashion than their original deaths... isn't the most appealing either. This sort of hopeless belief being given at the start of the game could work if they actually bothered for a proper ending, not even a mildly happy/neutral one - downright depressing one would be great too, ATP anything as long there would be one. Not getting a close-up of what ended up being Morishige, Satoshi and Ayumi/Yoshiki's exact fate really put me off at the end. [/spoiler]

Another drawback would be that the plot continues from a very... dissapointing ending. Not a hater nor a fan of timeloop endings in games, but those to actually work need a build-up and proper plot for it. CPBC does NOT make it work. Playing through the ending in the original game just gives off the vibe that someone just randomly threw in the idea of a timeloop wrong end during the last hours of script writing. Especially Satoshi's reaction pisses me off LOL [spoiler] BoS also left me dissapointed after learning that not only is there no "Told you so!" from Satoshi, but he's not even here for a lick of action in Heavenly Host. [/spoiler]

Again, the strongest point for the BoS is the focus it grants its characters. If you're a fan of Blood Covered's victims you'll absolutely enjoy their respective chapters. My all favourite is definitely Morishige's, but I greatly enjoyed Mayu and Yuka's too! (Especially thanks to the smaller cameos of side characters)

It's pretty decent if you're a fan of the series, but I feel like it has a lot of potential that gets lost pretty early on.
It also feels like it's just trying to one-up the original in terms of gross crap, which I think takes away a decent bit from the plot because it's not as well as the first one. All that aside, I think it's worth playing if you've played the first one.

this one has almost the same storyline as the first game but has extra details and lore in between, a few differences so ur not too bored obviously, and, without spoiling, plays with the idea revealed at the end of the first game's chapter 5 wrong end 6 which i love [spoiler](the groundhog day ending - satoshi is aware)[/spoiler]. there is a lot more reading than the first game though, and i will say i don't love the point and click element, but i will do anything for those extra bits of sweet sweet lore. it's kind of needed to play blood covered too (which is a ♥♥♥♥ game btw but if ur a completionist and like the series i mean ur gunna play it anyway arent u)
