I have to be honest with you, it took me a while to get into this game. In typical Metroidvania fashion, the beginning of the game is slow to start, your character is very under-powered. But as you get some more upgrades, things balance out nicely. I completed the game entirely on my Steam deck without any technical issues. It is a combat-focused Metroidvania with some platforming. The combat was well done, cool kill animations. The platforming is less fun, mainly because your character control is a little stiff. The hand-drawn aesthetic is the best thing about this game - truly awesome! Overall, I would recommend this game if you like the 2-D Metroidvania genre. I also feel like we should support the developer because apparently they had a serious disagreement with the publisher, so they had to take back the game under their own control. Hopefully things get sorted out and they can keep developing games, cant wait to see what they come out with next!

Hoje em dia é raro achar um Metroidvania com personalidade como esse.
A historia decepcionou um pouco, a primeira cutscene eu achei incrível e parecia q o jogo ia ter um desenvolvimento absurdo, mas o "final" é anticlimático e termina bem de qualquer jeito para uma possivel continuação
De resto o jogo é divertido, bonito e tem uma ótima jogabilidade, no tutorial achei que o combate ia ser cheio das 9 hora mas vc aprende rápido e é bem intuitivo.

I got stuck in an arena because I pushed enemy out of bounds of the screen. Tried exiting, and re-entering the game, but accidentally started a new game and wiped my progress.

The character moves like on ice. I felt from the platform and didn't make a jump multiple times. I'd rather prefer more "snappy" movements.

Mi sono interessato a Cookie Cutter vedendo in giro per i social alcuni disegni e animazioni del gioco, sono rimasto molto colpito dallo stile estetico che poi alla fine è stato il motivo principale per cui ho acquistato il gioco.
Cookie Cutter ha tanto stile, un bel mood, delle animazioni fantastiche e un umorismo tagliente e grottesco.

Lato artistico ha davvero molti pregi, quando si parla del gameplay però devo ammettere che l'ho trovato un po' grezzo. Ci sono diverse cose che potrebbero essere migliorate ma nonostante tutto nel complesso mi sono divertito.

Consiglio fortemente questo metroidvania. Ne ho apprezzato la durata, il gameplay, la storia - alla grafica serve una menzione a parte, perché io ho un debole per i videogiochi disegnati a mano e questo gioco è davvero stupendo da questo punto di vista. I movimenti di Cherry sono fluidi e precisi e questo permette di giocare bene e godersi il gioco fino in fondo.

The game is very rough around the edges but it was still a really charming experience. I grew to really like the characters and their world. It seems that there are some DLCs in the work and I'm actually really interested to see how they would expend more on the lore and it's many mysteries. I'll keep an eye on the future of this game.

Me gusto mucho el arte el trasfondo y la historia estuvieron muy bien.
(Aunque siento que quedaron bastantes huecos argumentales)
Hay algunos ploblemas con el mapa te indica algunos objetos que viste y no pudiste agarrar por x razon pero a veces aun habiendolo obtenido se seguia figurando como si no lo hubieses obtenido.
Es muy platinable y no hay logros perdibles.
Por el precio y lo que ofrece si lo recomiendo.

Quite a trip, especially its art style and the technicolor blasts of vomit it spits out. The tough-as-nails combat sections often devolve into button-mashing in tight conditions. To that point, though, it "gets in its own way" with animations and attack effects.

Also, my 36+ hours of gameplay is an OCD-based reflection of treating the battle arenas, boss fights, and trickier platforming sections like ridiculous problems to solve.

This game came in a humble bundle deal a while back. The deal was too good to pass on and contained some great metroidvania titles. This game however was more like the filler material they throw in to make the bundle deal more enticing.

Flash forward a few years, and Cookie Cutter finally got the install after sitting idle in the library for quite a while. I quickly took notice of the stylish cartoon aesthetic and immediately high hopes. But it didn't take long for the heavy handed modern politics to show through in a manner that could be described as anything but subtle and the story immediately became less interesting. On top if that, the voice acting felt lazy and unenthusiastic.

After playing through the first 2 areas I was so incredibly bored by the repetitive button mash combat it was time to take a break. Honestly there was almost no challenge whatsoever outside of janky combat mechanics. The game felt like a newgrounds flash-game from way back. It might have been tolerable if the combat was just a little better. Like if the number of hits to kill an enemy was 4 instead of 34. In less than an hour of gameplay this game went from unplayed to unplayable. Too bad... it looked so promising in the thumbnails.

I’ll get straight to the point: I had fun with Cookie Cutter, and I played it all the way to the end credits in about 11 hours. Still, when everything was said and done, the experience left me only mildly satisfied—and there’s one major flaw you absolutely need to know about if you’re on the fence.

The story simply doesn’t belong entirely to this game.
Yes, you read that right: Cookie Cutter ends on a full-on cliffhanger. As of today, there’s no clear word on when (or even if) a sequel or DLC will arrive. For me, this heavily affected the overall experience and my final impression, because it feels like a narrative that stops halfway through its journey.

That said, aside from this big narrative issue—which personally hurt my enjoyment quite a bit—the game itself is solid. There are some minor technical problems here and there (map bugs, optional doors that won’t open, small inconsistencies), but they’re generally easy to overlook and never truly game-breaking.

Artistically, Cookie Cutter is a joy to look at. The fully hand-drawn art style is not just good—I’d even call it impressive. From a gameplay perspective, its Metroidvania structure is well executed, offering plenty of hidden rooms, alternative paths, collectibles, power-ups, and secret encounters. Exploring the map and uncovering its secrets is genuinely satisfying.

Combat might feel a bit bland to some players, and I can see where that criticism comes from—but I don’t think it’s necessarily a downside here. Enemy patterns start off simple, but as you progress, new enemy types and bosses provide a fair and sometimes demanding challenge. My main issue with the combat system is the parry mechanic: the timing window is so tight that it’s almost useless. Most of the time, dodging is your only reliable way to avoid damage, which makes parrying feel underdeveloped rather than skill-based.

Narratively, the plot itself is quite straightforward—a revenge-driven journey against those who stole your love. However, much of the story is hidden behind optional dialogues. If you skip them, following the narrative can become confusing, which doesn’t help given the already abrupt ending.

In the end, I’d give Cookie Cutter a solid 7++.
Persistent bugs prevent me from pushing it to a 7.5, and the open, unresolved ending makes it impossible for me to score it an 8 or higher. There’s a lot to enjoy here, but also a lingering feeling that this experience is only part of a bigger story we still can’t play.

Игра, в целом, интересная, и сделана, тоже в целом, неплохо. Мне нравится ее сеттинг, история и персонажи. Нравится, даже, клифхенгер в конце, если будет продолжение, а не просто "бесконечное продолжение следует". Не шедевры, но нормально подобранная музыка. Боссов не много, но они, во всяком случае, забавные. Несколько сложных испытаний. Вполне плавное управление.

Я настоятельно рекомендую брать эту игру после того, как к ней выйдет/выйдут дополнения. Игра 2023 года, в ней полно заглушек/закрытых зон под дополнение, и открытая, по сути, концовка. Лучше ждите.

Но Я не могу заставить себя поставить ей высокий бал из-за ряда вещей, которые мне тут не понравились. По честному, из-за этого списка, игра не просто где-то в положительном рейтинге у меня, а балансирует прямо на грани с отрицательным. За неимением среднего, иначе получила бы именно среднее от меня. В общем: (1) Я, не то, что бы мастер парирований, но умею натренироваться использовать этот навык. Я проходил соулс-лайк игры, в том числе, используя это парирование. Однако тут такое ощущение, что оно, то работает - то не работает. В какой-то момент Я плюнул на парирование и стал играть без него. (2) Мясорубка. Я понимаю, что это такой стиль игры, устроить крутую драку и все такое, но что в обычных коридорах, что, тем более, в комнатах испытания - это просто ужас, когда нет возможности понять где ты, что ты делаешь, когда нужно реагировать на атаку врага. Особенно если несколько врагов сливаются в одного. В этом плане, игра ужасна, когда у тебя на экране больше пары врагов и начинается свестопляска. (3) Я не чувствую особой прогрессии персонажа большую часть игры. Ключевые навыки, вроде двойного прыжка, разумеется меняют гейм-плей, но второстепенные, которые меняются ячейками энергии - как будто еле-еле что-то меняют. +25 здоровье? Так это на пару ударов. Чуть больше энергии при ударах врагов? Так это на 1 твой удар. Только к 75% игры, где-то, ты можешь худо-бедно накопить достаточно всего, что бы чувствовать себя более-менее сильным. Но даже так, до самого конца игры, общий урон ударов мизерный. Играет роль ТОЛЬКО максимально ударные навыки. (4) Стиль СЛИШКОМ... стильный. Слишком криво-косо-ломаный. И сильно яркие краски. Я понимаю, что хотелось показать таким стилем, Я бы принял его в других линиях и оттенках, но именно такой выбор мне не очень понравился. (5) Это мелочь, но хотелось бы упомянуть: управление-то плавное, но периодически, когда едешь на платформе вверх-вниз и видишь, что персонаж вибрирует, лучше не прыгать, иначе провалишься с платформы вниз. (6) Ощущение неизбежности удара. А именно, неважно, сколько ударов ты наносишь врагу, он тебя ударит. Чаще всего Я ощущаю это на летающих тварях, когда даже сильные удары наносишь - им пофиг, они тебя бьют. (7) Карта багнутая. Почти на всех локациях остаются предметы, которые ты уже взял. В двух локациях карта показала 2 не взятых предмета, которые Я взял.
(8) Баг в двух местах, где навык подбрасывания себя не перезаряжается так как должен. В места то Я попал, но наличие этого бага с 2023 года! этот факт не отменяет. Капец блин.
(!) Ну и отдельный котел в аду для того, кто придумал это вставку в начале игры, когда появляется лого и какой-то *** орет, а потом "хм, ну ладно". В какой-то момент меня серьезно это подбешивало уже.
(+/-) Это не критика, а просто, жаль, что фаст-тревел редкий, а не на точках сохранения.
...
В общем, как и сказал, игра мне, в целом, понравилась. Я получил от нее удовольствие, неделю, в конце-концов, проходил. Но из-за тех причин, что перечислил выше, не могу поставить ей тот рейтинг, который хотел бы, что бы она получила. 7 из 10.

З.Ы.: Главная героиня - робот лезбиянка, но нет, это не бесяче сделано в этой игре. Потому что уделяется этому внимание, буквально, ничего времени в начале и конце игры. Так что, можете на эту тему забить.

El juego esta bien, se siente bien el movimiento y las animaciones son super detalladas, si buscas algo para jugar casualmente este juego esta bastante bien, te permite ser muy agresivo y la mayoria del tiempo vas bastante fuerte, pero...

Dejando de lado la historia que esta bien tampoco es algo super profundo, tiene muchos problemas de acabado por asi decirlo, lo primero seria los bugs, aunque no son bugs que rompan el juego, si son molestos, como que de repente se vaya el audio o que algunos iconos no aparezcan en el mapa, o no desaparezcan cuando ya los completaste, tambien el combate sufre de vez en cuando, hay ocasiones donde varios enemigos te atacan a la vez y te derriban sin oportunidad de moverte o te hagan one shot solo por que golpearon al mismo tiempo, el parry es muy malo y tiene un retraso que lo hace sentir torpe, y el plataformeo tiene el problema de que las hit box a veces no esta bien puestas y en lugares donde nada mas te acercas a una plataforma con picos te mata de manera inmediata.
Hay tambien mucha diferencias entre los estilos de dibujo de algunos enemigos, personajes y el fondo, aparte de que todo el arte del menu tambien tiene un estilo diferente.

Al final lo recomiendo por que fue bastante accesible el precio y no fue tan mala la experiencia como para no recomendarlo, pero si tomen en cuenta que es un juego que todavia le falta un poco de trabajo.

There is nothing major wrong with game, but this game is in state death by thousand cuts. There is a lot of small problems. From map showing collected chests or done objectives, door not opening or door not staying open. Possible 'player skill' soft lock at final boss (after starting section you can't change skill build or return to upgrade skills/weapons), save points don't refill hp and mp, default selected option when you return to game is new game not continue(so if you don't pay attention you can overide save by misstake), for each map progression barrier you have to change subskill or skill to just do this action which destroy gameplay flow,...

И опять не хватает пальца, застывшего в неопределенности...

Вот вроде бы все хорошо в Cookie Cutter на первый взгляд. Она красивая, неплохо использующая базовые механики всякой метроидвании и не пытается стать новым жуком на минималках. Удобная карта, большие локации, которые не успевают надоесть. Сюжет местами банальный, но даже он не бесит (до какого-то момента, про который чуть дальше). В общем, до последней локации я был если не в восторге, то вполне преисполнен исключительно позитивными эмоциями. А потом… Потом возникли они, эти два отдельных момента.

Момент номер один, геймплейный. Финальная локация – это ♥♥♥♥♥♥. И я не про шипы с ваншотами, которые по своему количеству переплюнули первый Blasphemous. И даже не про то, что именно к этому моменту кто-то из разрабов поиграл в Боши, решив разнообразить опыт игрока сегментами с испытаниями, которые раньше были только опциональными. Основная проблема в том, что эта локация лагает, проседая во время этих испытаний и боев до 5-10 фпс. Шипы, сложные сегменты с платформингом и просадки фпс в метроидвании. Отлично же звучит, правда? И это только в последней локации, остальные работают стабильно.

Момент номер два, сюжетный. Хоть он и касается финала, но тут можно спокойно обойтись без спойлеров по поводу концовки. Ее нет. Точнее, она подводит к глобальному длс с разрешением основного конфликта, с внезапным поворотом и… Этого длс нет. Игра вышла в 2023 году, и я сомневаюсь, что оно когда-то выйдет. Я не буду даже обсуждать то, что скрывать концовку в длс – мягко говоря, блядство. Так они и это длс не сделали, оборвав все на полуслове! Как-то так.

Обычно я бы влепил красный палец, но блин, первые 15 часов мне реально было интересно в этой игре. Она хорошая. Если вы готовы мириться с двумя вышеуказанными моментами, то… Рекомендую? Да, наверное, так. Cookie Cutter, в основном, мне понравилась. Вот только эти два нюанса… Ну вы уже и сами все прочитали.

Se pensate di approcciarvi con leggerezza a questo metroidvania, avete capito male.
E' un titolo impegnativo, con sezioni di platforming di precisione ed una buonissima quantità di nemici che, da 3/4 di gioco, diventano incredibilmente ostici, a tal punto da far sembrare i boss non così tanto superiori.
La storia è semplice, nulla di eclatante, ma in chiusura lascia l'interesse elevato per un possibile (speriamo!) secondo capitolo.
La grafica è pulita, le animazioni sono da fuori di testa. Tantissime e bellissime.
E' un gioco punitivo ed adrenalinico, ma quasi mai scorretto. Ho trovato i nemici volanti esageratamente ostici e non ho mai sentito un reale potenziamento del personaggio o quantomeno, l'unico vero potenziamento me lo sono portato poi fino alla fine. E' stata una bella esperienza e spero che, in un secondo e spero conclusivo titolo, si possano smussare alcuni spigoli e creare un metroidvania ancora più convincente.
Ho riscontrato problemi solo contro i nemici di "melma" che, pur avendoli sconfitti, continuavo a sentirne i passi, per il resto, mai avuto un bug o un'incertezza durante le mie 14 ore.

Alla faccia di chi dice che gli italiani non sanno fare i videogiochi.

this is the first actual review i'm making here on steam with a more serious tone,
and it deserves the best i can do at 4 am, the time i finally did 100%
i remember a few weeks ago i was showing some of my friends the game, and how much i was loving it
truly brings the best parts of some other metroidvania's plus the weapon and all the different abilities you have avaliable, the art style is really catchy for me, so much so that it literally is the biggest reason i got hooked into the game, the art, the voice actors the gory and funny lil adult jokes and references really makes this game stand out for me, PLUS THE MAIN CHARACTER IS LITERALLY ME FR
1000/10 will be dying if the dlcs drop this year (i have no idea how close the game is to be getting dlcs) seeing parts of the game blocked by the dlc patrol denzels fills me up with hopes of one day being able to go past them

everyone involved in the development of this game did such an amazing job for bringing this game to life

还是给个推荐吧，作为一个银河城，确实有不少问题，

打击感比较怪，地图设计中庸，技能存在感弱，BOSS少且套路单调，物品标识地图显示有BUG。

但是美术风格很有特色，画面优秀，处决技非常解压，整体难度偏低，作为银河城入门或放松游玩的角度可以试试。

顺带一说这其实是个LGBT人设拉满的游戏，百合卡车女痛殴变态T最终BOSS，不过并没有宣教什么，而且刻板印象到似乎是自黑，主角被称呼卡车女而且有个用PG重击的处决动作，所以我个人其实没什么反感的，当CULT片了。
最后那处决实在是太痛了，踩的什么啊？(≥﹏ ≤)

UI设计有点逆天，
主界面是粉红背景，然后继续是黄色高亮（只是高亮非默认选中），默认选择是新游戏，
选定框是深色一点的粉红色，然后可以想象，我直接一路点覆盖了个7小时的存档。有点逆天

SD上玩后几章有画面丢失，需要兼容层。

Aparte de que los desarrolladores insultaron a cualquiera que se lo comprara de oferta (cuando la piratería está al alcance de cualquiera que busque unos 20 min) el juego en si no pasa de mediocre.

Las animaciones son lo más destacable, tiene buenas ejecuciones pero quitando eso tenemos un diseño de niveles muy flojo y un sistema de combate exigente a la vez que aburrido, una combinación que mina con tus ganas de completar la historia que tampoco es que destaque demasiado. Y por la parte de la música tampoco se puede decir nada positivo.

gioco estremamente buggato, spesso mi si blocca negli upgrade point lasciandomi senza voglia di contiunare il titolo, oltretutto che non c'è la piena possibilità di cambaire i settings del pad e molto spesso tra le opzioni ci sono delle caselle tanto per esserci quando potevano provare a rendere tutto un pò più dinamico, poi saltare su questo gioco spesso è fastidioso, perché non sempre si triggrera bene la scavalcatura, peccato il titolo sembrava interessante

Оновлення: максимально дивне рішення, не зберігати в окрему комірку гру, перед фінальним босом, через що, неможливо закінчити гру на 100%. Потрібно починати нову гру і проходити ще раз (чого звичайно, я робити не буду).

If it's currently at a decent discount, it's worth a try.

Pros: The art's great, really quite stunning, especially the glory kill animations. Voice acting is good. Difficulty curve feels fairly nice.
Cons: You'll know in the first 10 minutes if Cherry's personality and the general humour of the world is for you and if it isn't, you'll be getting a lot of it. I'm not above a ♥♥♥♥ joke, but there's... a lot of them. Some of the references to other games are particularly offputting. The map doesn't quite fill out properly and sometimes doesn't seem to remove markers for collectibles which can lead to unnecessary backtracking. Combat gets a bit samey at times; you'll see arenas with pretty much the same configuration of guys you've seen before, but now with a stage gimmick added to the room.

As a metroidvania it's fine. You might see it compared to Guacamelee and that's not an entirely inaccurate comparison, it'll scratch that itch a bit.

A good looking game with a strong feminist theme as well as mediocre voice acting, bad controls, poor design decisions, balance issues and a runtime that makes you want to tear your hair out.

First off I love the style of this game through and through. It’s very punk, kinda anime and a lot gross. These are all fantastic, Stonic is a personal favorite character and the brutalize animations are all siiick.

These game however falls apart in a lot of places. You can feel through the entire experience that this is a first for this studio. Enemy balance is crap, basically everything takes a long a$$ button mash to kill. There really isn’t a lot of technical depth. This could be overlooked if it didn’t feel like I’m dying because of poor design rather than skill. An example, when fighting in the fairly frequent arenas, I lose track of the action thanks to a half dozen enemies with the same sprite all stacked on top of each other. You may not know it at the time, but what looks like one attack it’s actually 6 with 6x damage being dealt in the same animation. I also frequently end up stunlocked by a mosh pit of enemies all attacking at the same time essentially turning this into a the-floor-is-lava exorcise.

I’m not a fan of long reviews so I’ll tie it up here. This game looks good, has a decent story and plays like crap. Maybe they’ll get a second swing, I’ll keep an eye out but I don’t recommend this one at full price.

Note to SCJ: I bought this at full price after I saw it listed in an IGN upcoming games video a few years back. I want to be a real fan, some real fans regardless of publisher pricing decisions just can’t afford to buy at full price. Giving you any money means we’re giving you a chance to prove yourself. Try to be a little more punk rock and think of game sales as merch sales. I actually found my band’s shirt at a goodwill, left it on the rack. Maybe someone will Google us after their 2 dollar purchase, maybe they’ll turn up at our next show.

Recommended! With biiig caveats. For me this games tone was a breath of fresh air. I was drawn in by Cookie Cutter's charming illustrations, tons of engaging art, high school sketch book characters. Getting into it I had a good time with it's early David Jaffee influences, retro game nods, and charmingly adolescent vibe gave. The writing wasn't great, the combat also wasn't great, and the traversal also... wasn't great. but there was something about it that kept me going until the end. So, if you're into what you see, I say give it a try. But be forewarned, the zones are needlessly large, the combat can be frustrating-due to a sometimes too-zoomed-out camera, enemies with few interrupts, a poorly implemented parry, and spongey bosses-and a few insta-death spike sections that feel more like an f-you than a fair challenge.

The creator thinks you are a cheap-ass wannabe if you bought the game during a 90% sale the publisher made due to some internal discussion they add apparently. Now I know it's not fair to bring up Silksong, which is masterfully crafted and has so much content, but since the creator has such a cocky attitude and both games literally cost the same I'm gonna make an exception and make a comparison between both games.

The gameplay: Complete ass, controls feel like using a busted controller soaked in acid while having your hands dirty with doritos, they are so uncomfortable and a lot of the time the damage just feels cheap. Meanwhile Silksong feels super clean and satisfactory, there aren't many instances where damage feels cheap, and the game is super packed with content, while this game I don't think even reaches 10 hours of content.

The humor: It's complete garbage, it tries so hard to be edgy and it's simply not funny, constant swearing is not funny, a talking vagina with an annoying voice being your companion FOR THE REST OF THE GAME is not funny. That and just the excess of gore, sex, poop, piss and gross jokes that just come off as trying to be edgy. While Silksong has small funny situations ocassionally to break the tension a bit, but doesn't fill the entire game with some random joke or remark to avoid breaking the vibe of the game.

The plot: I couldn't even care less. While in Silksong I was super interested on what was coming next, there was always a surprise no matter how far you are into the game. While in this game the only things that awaits you is some poop joke or something.

The art style: Just gross, it also looks like it's trying too hard to look edgy and shocking. While Silksong needless to say that the art style is super masterful and original.

Yes, it's not fair to compare both games, one almost won a GOTY and the other was made by a much smaller indie team in a much smaller scale, but that's what you get when you make fun of the fans that bought your own game

In a nutshell: Amazing art, simple mechanics.

pros:
- Beautifully animated
- Great soundtrack
- Great character design and VA
- Nice plot

cons:
- Combat and exploration are too simple
- There's a bug where the map resets when coming back to an area after some time

Beautiful game! I bought it for the visuals and soundtrack, but the story is really nice, and the gameplay is satisfying enough.
I found the combat and level exploration pretty straightfoward in terms of mechanics. The biggest difference between the main weapons was their speed/damage, and I couldn't fully enjoy the heaviest ones. The combat is frenzied, with little strategy. The parrying mechanic is a nice way to deal with most enemies and trigger the execution animations. The grinding for ingredients can be tiresome in some cases.

Resumo: Arte incrível, mecânica simples.

Jogo lindo! Eu comprei pelo visual e trilha sonora, mas tem um enredo bom, e a jogabilidade é ok.
O combate e a exploração são muito diretos em termos de mecânica. A maior diferença entra as armas principais é a velocidade/dano, e eu não consegui desfrutar tanto das armas mais pesadas na minha jogada. O combate é mais frenético, pouco estratégico. A mecânica de aparar é ótima para lidar com a maioria dos inimigos e ativar as animações de execução. O grind para conseguir os ingredientes pode ficar enjoativo dependendo do inimigo.

I've tried to get into this game, but just can't.
You're made to play some weird freak main character that fights random alien enemies.
The combat and movement feel clunky, which is deadly for a Metroidvania.

My advice: Skip this title and play something worthwhile like Blasphemous, Hollow Knight, Ori or Guacamelee.

Cookie Cutter is a perfect metroidvania. It features a wonderful visual style that reminds me of old Cartoon Network shows, a fast, fluid, and incredibly fun combat system, tons of easter eggs, and an engaging story. While playing Cookie Cutter, I felt like I was flowing. The combat is pleasantly smooth, and the game has its own rhythm that you need to tune into before you can just flow along in a dance of blood and guts. I highly recommend it.

I'll most likely give this game another go once I've cooled down a bit, but this was a gut punch.

I enjoyed Cookie Cutter and really want to give it a thumbs up based on all I've seen up till my issue, but due to the way the main menu defaults to "new game" instead of "load game", my save was overridden with a fresh new start, all progress gone with no way to restore.
Devs i know ya'll have a lot on your plate with the "Divorce Plan" in progress but, please either: change the default to load OR add a slow confirmation for new game if you already have an existing save.

Um game Metroidvania divertidíssimo! Fique atento as referências culturais são volumosas e riquíssimas, mas precisa exploração para encontrar.
O jogo traz diversas mecânicas de ataque, combinações de combo fodas e brutalizações incríveis! uma espécie de fatality para cada tipo de inimigo. Possui vários momentos em que a dificuldade e o balanceamento desaparecem mas há outros para compensar.

⦁ Visual descontraído e divertido mesmo com o conteúdo sexual a espreita.
⦁ Personagens bem customizados tanto na linguagem audível quanto no estilo.
⦁ As lutas contra os chefes são desafiantes e trazem desafios até o entendimento do padrão.

The art is fine. Combat is okay, but when there are more than five enemies on the screen, you're just smashing buttons, completely unaware of what's going on. The positives end there.

As a Metroidvania, the game absolutely fails – there are few secrets, and they're all boring and uninteresting to find. One-shot spikes are cringe, although I didn't have any problems with them, but it's an obvious mistake (look at the complaints about Blasphemous 1 and prevent this from happening – it's not that hard).
The plot is written in two lines, the characters are flat and uninteresting – they were probably made by a child with sperm toxicity. Everyone talks and "jokes" about genitals, they're even everywhere in the design and environments – apparently the developers see this as humor or a personal protest, but it's nothing more than pure cringe. The main character constantly mumbles something under his breath like a rebellious teenager—thanks to the Forspoken vibes, it's funny, but it's also cringe.

The biggest problem is that the game has dozens, if not hundreds, of bugs that literally break progress, interfere, softlock locations, and so on. Picked up collectibles don't disappear on the map. A door might only be open on one side of the screen, literally blocking you from entering a room. Shortcuts you open will close back. Secrets you pick up don't count toward your stats. These are just a few of the bugs I encountered, but there's a whole thread in the community with dozens of bug reports that the developers have ignored. The game is almost two years old—not a single bug has been fixed in that time, yet the developers boast about their flawed game on social media and say they're working on DLC. First, get what's already there to a playable state.

It's not the worst game, but it's a waste of time, especially after completing 100%. Even if I bought the game at a discount, I regret that it will go to such developers.

Don't get me wrong, this is a fun game, good mechanics and great for exploring and discovering new areas once you gain the required upgrades, but the dev(s) are garbage. I first picked up this game due to it getting a very negative review from a particular infamous Steam curator (great way to find games)

So the good: The game looks incredible, the animation, the spritework, the modern indie comic punk rock artstyle, the character designs. It's a phenomenal looking game.
The controls are perfect, everything feels snappy and responsive and fast, the combat is fast paced and very fun and brutal.
The story is great. Somehow it manages to tow a perfect line between silly and serious, with a lot of likable characters. I mean come on the game's main guidance comes from your cybernetic talking vagina, complete with clitoris.

The bad: The music. We have this awesome future world with these insanely offensive off the wall punk rock characters with attitudes, but a lot of the music outside of bosses is completely boring atmospheric electronic droning. This needed an extreme soundtrack to fit the vibe of the game but it just doesn't have it.
What keeps a Metroidvania from becoming truly great or not is the map design, and the map here is mostly uninspired and doesn't flow very well in the exploration. It can also be a bit of a chore to backtrack.

I'll continue playing and could've been a positive review but made a quick pause just to state that the dude that put in the spikes levels that insta-kill you, and the enemies that can shoot projectiles through walls and melee thru walls but you can't. That dude probably has two wives and three husbands and still chose his sister.

Most of the recent negative reviews seem to all mention the tantrum the game's dev threw after a fight they had with their publisher that resulted in the game briefly being put at a 90% sale. This seemed to be done by the publisher out of spite, but the dev responded to this by calling anyone who bought the game on mega-sale a 'cheap-a** wannabe' who'd play the game for '15 seconds and thought they have something to say.' This is childish behavior and I figured it was worth mentioning before I recommended the game (which I did buy on sale, by the way.)

With that being said, the game is still quite good. It has a solid setting and design and clearly a lot of heart and care put into it. The characters are interesting and while the main character's voice actor wasn't the strongest it never got in the way of my enjoyment of the game. The combat is fun and fluid, with a Devil May Cry-esqu juggling and plenty of environmental kills and unique enemies to turn into bloody mist. Your moveset grows and evolves at an appropriate pace so that you don't get overwhelmed by the number of tools in your toolkit. It's also nice to play a game with both hyper-violent and hyper-sexual aspects where the main character isn't an hourglass in a bikini. Overall it has quite a bit going for it.

This isn't to say the game is perfect. I ran into a number of bugs, both visual and gameplay related. Small things, like backgrounds that don't quite line up or enemies that clip through walls. Nothing that couldn't be fixed with some QoL updates. Some of the humor also failed to land, but not in a way that was painful or cringe-worthy. The plot is a pretty straightforwards 'save the princess' affair and while it hints at some deeper aspects to the lore it never quite delves into it beyond some basic world building. Perhaps that'll be something they expand upon with the DLC.

Which brings me to my final point, and a big reason why I decided to write a review. Recently, the dev got full ownership of the game and it's IP. The presumption is that the dev will use this newfound freedom to continue working on the game and create the DLC which is heavily hinted to come in a particular area of the game. In general, I support artists gaining creative freedom from publishers that might control their vision. However, the dev's reaction to the sale was worrying, (I never would have played the game if it hadn't been on sale,) so I'll be watching the continued development of Cookie Cutter with both interest and caution.

В целом сносная метроидвания, которую можно попробовать если прочие хиты уже пройдены или надоели стерильные проекты в которых боятся кого-либо обидеть. Но многого ждать не стоит, Cookie Cutter далеко не идеальная игра, и если бы можно было поставить нейтральную оценку, то я бы ее поставил... но раз я ее все-таки прошел полностью и получил от прохождения определенное удовольствие, то пусть будет "палец вверх".

Из плюсов, графический стиль напоминающий мультфильм "Арчи и Сипак", клипы Gorillaz, квесты Daedalic и пр. в том же духе. Выглядит нарочито грубовато и стильно, и к тому же выгодно выделяет игру из толпы. Анимации неплохие, локации детализированы, смотреть на игру приятно, сразу видно, что старались.

Саундтрек не выдающийся, желания добавлять его в плейлист не возникает, но звучит приятно и не надоедает. Кроме того, в игре есть озвучка, тоже весьма неплохая, однозначно плюс.

Есть неплохая карта, на которой показано что и сколько осталось найти, вроде и мелочь, но самом деле не так уж часто встречается в жанре, поэтому выделю в отдельный плюс, это действительно сильно облегчает навигацию и поиск тайников.

Боевая система не лучшая среди метроидваний, но играется достаточно неплохо и динамично, оружия и способностей хватает, а благодаря брутальным добиваниям процесс битья вражеских морд (впрочем, не у всех из них есть морды!) не наскучивает. Важно: игра поощряет принцип "лучшая защита - нападение", как только игрок его принимает играть становится проще, особенно во второй половине игры.

Сюжет... ну, он тут есть. Ничего захватывающего, он служит скорее мотивацией для прохождения, но персонажи занятные получились, некоторые даже с выдумкой. Возможно, кому-то может резануть глаз внешний вид главной героини и тот факт, что она лесбуха (цель игры буквально спасти возлюбленную:D), но учитывая весь творящийся в игре трэш, я бы не отнес ее к повесточным играм. Всюду сиськи-письки, кровь, а спутница героини [spoiler] говорящая ИИ-вагина [/spoiler]. Такие фантазии соевым даже в страшных снах не привидятся.

Ну и бонусом текстовая локализация на русский, местами с ляпами, но приличная.

Теперь о плохом, его к сожалению, достаточно.

Во первых, игре скоро стукнет 2 года, а она все еще забагованная. Критических багов нет (ну, вроде бы), но мелкие все еще остались, например, глючное отображение предметов на карте: даже если открыл сундук или проломил способностью пол, то они все равно будут отображаться нетронутыми, не все и не везде, но это может помешать при зачистке карты на 100%. А под конец игра начала вдруг лагать, и чем больше играешь - тем сильнее лагает. Счетчик fps при этом показывает 60 кадров, с чем связано непонятно, лечиться только перезагрузкой игры, но спустя длительный сеанс опять может начать лагать.

Во вторых, заимствование идей у известных конкурентов это нормально, но смотря какие идеи. Вот авторы Cookie Cutter решили отличиться и зачем-то подсмотрели у Blasphemous ваншотящие шипы, хотя могли бы позаимствовать возможность ставить на карту собственные маркеры, что улучшило бы навигацию по уровням. И ладно бы этого добра было немного, но нет, кто-то в студии всерьез решил, что будет очень весело проходить переусложненные секции с кучей шипов сверху, снизу и по бокам, и не факт что в конце будет ждать достойная награда за мучения. Ну а чтобы стул совсем уж сгорел в игре как на зло сделали совершенно безобразную регистрацию столкновений, стоит только чуууууть чуть неправильно вписаться - ваншот, причем даже по анимациям смерти видно, что регистрация работает криво. Помните испытания Мириам из все того же Бласфеймоса? Тут примерно тот же уровень исполнения, а может даже хуже. Премию Дарвина господину ответственному за это садо-мазо.

В третьих, при проектировании боссов еще кто-то из студии (или это все тот же фанат шипов??) явно возомнил себя Бабадзаки. В первой половине игры боссы щелкаются за пару попыток максимум, но во второй половине ситуация резко меняется, и вот тут-то игрок должен будет прийти к выводу, что осторожничать не выйдет, если хочешь увидеть финальные титры - нападай пока пальцы об кнопки пада не отобьешь. Проблема кроется в том, что сложность достигается в невнятно работающем ИИ, трудно предсказать какую атаку выберет босс, даже начало боя часто по-разному начинается. Особенно показательна финальная битва: мало того, что не всегда очевидна следующая атака, у него нет фаз, он сразу использует весь арсенал, и некоторые его удары могут как отнять немного здоровья, так и почти ваншотнуть. Про кривую регистрацию столкновений не забываем тоже, визуально вроде и уворачиваешься от удара, а игра все равно засчитала урон. Не бой, а лотерея. И вишенка на торте: в игре присутствует импут-лаг, из-за чего кнопки атаки не всегда срабатывают с первого раза, уворачивания и прыжок тоже, последний к тому же глючный и порой засчитывается как прыжок с краю, в таком случае двойной прыжок не сработает. Попробовал решить проблему с отключением вертикальной синхронизации, но fps после этого улетел за 200, игра стала слишком быстрой, но лаг по ощущениям остался. Ах да, в Cookie Cutter всунули модную механику парирования, но она совершенно бесполезная, т.к. тайминги мизерные и противники мотивируют игрока действовать агрессивнее, так что, пользоваться парированием не имеет никакого смысла. Лучше бы добавили кое что другое, о чем ниже.

В четвертых, в Cookie Cutter нет вибрации! Кто-то скажет что это ерунда и даже отключают эту функцию в меню, но именно в данной игре без нее часто вообще не понятно попал ли ты во врага или попали в тебя, а когда на экране куча врагов, эффекты во весь экран и камера отдаляется, то даже не разобрать где находится героиня! Бесполезные парирования есть, вибро нет, ну коммон, 2025 год на дворе, это давно базовая функция в играх, тем более с боевкой в стиле битэмапов, неужели никто в студии не додумался чтобы включить ее в игру?

В пятых, в игре по сути нет концовки, есть только "продолжение следует". После мучений с финальным боссом не получаешь удовлетворения, как к примеру, в Ninja Gaiden, нет, в Cookie Cutter мысль скорее "фух, наконец-то отмучился, можно удалить". В игре есть несколько закрытых дверей, рядом с которыми прямым текстом заявляется, что это для DLC. Игре 2 года, ну какие уже DLC... А учитывая то, что допы как правило получаются сильно хуже основной игры и сколько граблей навалили разработчики в самой Cookie Cutter, не уверен что я буду покупать будущее дополнение. Особенно после того, как загрузив игру я снова оказался прямо перед финальным боссом, в комнате откуда нет выхода. Еще раз проходить через это желания нет никакого, спасибо. Перед тем как идти к боссу обязательно доделайте все оставшиеся дела, прокачайте и установите нужные способности, ведь обратного пути не будет.

При всем при этом я не могу сказать, что Cookie Cutter плохая игра, по большей части мне было интересно ее проходить, а ваншотящие шипы и финальный босс не настолько портят впечатление, чтобы поставить оценку ниже 7/10. Но можно было сделать лучше, игре сильно не хватает полировки и, возможно, опыта у разработчиков. Если и брать, то по скидкам.

Pelas gameplays que eu tinha visto o jogo parecia ser realmente muito bom, sem contar que eu sou muito fã de metroidvania.

Vou negativar esse game pq a evolução de personagem é ridícula de lenta, eu explorei varias partes do mapa e mesmo assim não juntei os itens necessario para evoluir. O level design apesar de ser bem feito, parece que estou sempre nos mesmos lugares pq os mapas são muito parecidos.

o personagem principal mal tem HP e tem um dano ridículo de baixo, sei que é o inicio do jogo e é preciso evoluir o personagem, mas como mencionei antes, para evoluir ele é tão demorado que chega a dar raiva.

Infelizmente esse jogo tem muita coisa pra melhorar, acho incrível que quem fez ele não prestou atenção para esses detalhes.

Os gráficos estão bonitos e gostei dele ter legenda pt-br tbm, mas de resto ele é simplista demais, provavelmente teve um orçamento muito baixo para ser feito.

Got it in a bundle for a few bucks and I'm glad I didn't pay more for it. Overall the gameplay is boring and uninspired. The art in particular is quite repulsive just like the main story revolving around a robot lesbian trying to cope with her foid creator dying. I probably wouldn't waste my time even writing this review to be honest if it wasn't for the dev bad mouthing their customers and banning people on the forum who criticize them. As they say ugly people make ugly art.

El arte está bien, pero el juego es terriblemente repetitivo y falto de carisma, al final lo acabé dejando por la mitad debido al aburrimiento.

Mención aparte el desarrollador mendigando reviews positivas en el foro amenazando de banear al que le contradiga, pues aquí tiene mi review buen hombre, métase su juego woke por donde le quepa. No apoyéis a desarrolladores que desprecian de esta manera a sus clientes.

TL;DR: There are over 40 metroidvanias released in the last decade that are better games, easily available, and some even cheaper than this. Don't waste your money or even more importantly, your time with Cookie Cutter.

I have a low playtime because the game is just simply put: Boring

Gameplay: For me personally, combat can be basic, barebones even, in a metroidvania. I enjoyed Islets which is a solo dev metroidvania with extremely simple combat. The combat in Cookie Cutter is one note, lazy, and an absolute chore. Most encounters with enemies can be resolved by just buttonmashing through without a thought. Unless locked in a room, enemies are so boring to fight that running past them is the more entertaining option.

Many have spoken on it, so I will to: The parry mechanic is the worst in any game I've played this year (2025). It's so poorly implemented and barely works that when introduced the game has a pop up telling you its completely optional. As if they knew the parry was broken and useless, but couldn't be bothered whatsoever to either fix, tweak, or just remove it from the game.

The game is full of ideas like this seemingly. Things the dev/s may have thought sounded fun but when put into practice is lazy and half-baked.

Character designs: I truly gave it a chance because I love punk aesthetic but the main character is just awful. 85% of it due to the terrible haircut. Then there's the talking vagina robot named Regina. Yes, its a vagina....named Regina. This would kill at a middle school in the early 2000s. It just doesn't work here.

Additionally, the game is more concerned with constantly showing you Cherry's panties than it is in fluid movement, entertaining combat, or a serviceable story. We've got panty shots for running and jumping animations, but the parry doesn't even work. That's absolutely ridiculous. I'm not even against fanservice. At least Stellar Blade, Bayonetta, and the likes STILL offer fun gameplay in addition to fanservice. I've even played and beaten multiple Oneechanbaras for christ's sake.

The story: Absolutely nothing special about it at all. And I'm not even asking for a unique story. Just, anything, to make me care about the journey. This game doesn't have it. It's all style, and a crumb of substance.

To top it all off: The main dev desperately needs anyone else to handle all PR and social media. Good for the devs for going independent and keeping the rights, but its baffling, bordering on hilarious, that the main Subcult dev is managing to come out looking like the bigger prick than the previous publishing company which many devs accuse of being scammers.

The dev asked for this review. He considers anyone who gets the game on sale a wannabe. I bought this trash full price, and if I hadn't waited so long to play it while getting through my backlog, its one of the >5 games in my 10+ years of owning this account, that I would have asked Steam for a refund for. I 99% of the time will just take the L on not enjoying a game. Many of them, even if I didn't like, I won't post a review unless its egregiously bad because I don't like hurting indie devs sales.

Well Cookie Cutter is a generic metroidvania that does nothing unique to show or say and dreadful gameplay that is still a chore to play even after a big 2.0 update. In summary, Cookie Cutter is a punk poser and other indie games & devs offer better, authentic, and fun products.

Метроидвания с тегом 18+ обусловленным жестокостью, кровавостью, крепкими выражениями и пошлым подтекстом.

В целом все достаточно на неплохом уровне и сюжет, и анимация, разнообразные запутанные и большие уровни. Очень зрелищные приемы добиваний врагов. Есть улучшение способностей и оружия, постепенное открытие различных навыков как боевых так и для перемещения и исследования уровней.
Вес двухмерной игры в 17 гб несколько удивляет, но уровни тут и правда здоровенные и их не один и не два. Имеются и комнаты испытаний, на прохождение которых придется потратить пару десяток попыток, потому что пол потолок и стены в них смертельно опасны.

Недостатки так же имеются.
Во первых боевка достаточно простая, а противники достаточно однообразны, со временем даже зрелищные добивания наскучивают и уже начинаешь просто избегать сражений.
Во вторых есть мелкие недоработки, вроде подобранных сундуков, которые продолжают отмечаться на карте как не собранные, не открывающиеся решетки и ещё пара мелочей. Но в сущности ничего такого что бы помешало или сильно усложнило прохождение.
Внешность героини тоже на любителя, но видимо таков концепт игры.

大概12.5小时通关。有个槽点，通关之后没有二周目之类的，甚至连存档都没，只能读取最终boss前的存档，本来还想全成就，现在罢了。

17个G的容量，制作组是有在画质细节上下功夫的。

传送点少了点，跑路有点难受，你哪怕加个回城功能呢？

有bug，明明某个宝箱或者特殊地板已经清了，地图上依然显示着。作为一款已经正式发售快两年的游戏，不太应该。
