Super fun typing game that really emulates the feeling of working a kitchen during rush hour lol. Definitely not a relaxing game, but it's easy to jump in and out of since it's so simple mechanically. There's a little bit of a grind and I kind of wish there was more foods unlocked for 4 and 5 star restaurants, but there's no lack of content and fun value in the game as-is. Highly recommend!

It's a fun unique game, I don't have any issues with the game itself, just had issues with syncing my data and my save got corrupted weirdly. If you like the bones of this game I'd emplore you to check out the sequels as it builds upon these roots to create something super casual and fun! I like how yummy the food looks, the art style keeps improving and I like the autonomy the game gives you with who you date, what's on the menu, etc.

Played this game years ago and decided to come back to it a few weeks ago. It still holds up and it is for sure the best Cook Serve game to start off with. It can get a bit repetitive, but it's different from other cooking games and honestly a step up in the genre. A lot of typing is required if you use keyboard controls, but it adds to the challenge and you might even improve at typing speed a little!

Mechanics are very intuitive and there is a lot of compatibility with different types of controllers.
A very fun game even if it's stressful and kinda hard to play due to the complex controls. I'd say the sequel is much better not only due to the increase and quality of content, but also because of the changes to how the game controls! If you're thinking about buying this game, you should skip to the sequel instead :3

Fast paced food service game that lets you feel what its like to work in a real restaurant thats disguised as a typing game. Its a game that strongly challenges your typing skills while juggling multiple orders to become the owner of the greatest restaurant people have seen. The recipes and gameplay keep you on your toes with each new upgrade pilling on the tasks you have to do per shift while giving you moments of calm before around 20 people ask for food while you're in the middle of cleaning the toilets, responding to phone messages, and occasionally describing facial details of some guy who tried to rob you. Its chaotic in a way that its concepts mesh well together and a great game for typing fans who want a bit of a challenge.

The controls make the game boring
All the mini-games are just pressing buttons. The best strategy is to change the hotkeys to keys that make more sense/are closer together for every single menu item. The sound effects get annoying quickly.

Cook, Serve, Delicious is a fun cooking game that really makes you feel the fast-paced, frantic atmosphere of a kitchen.
The gameplay consists of fulfilling customer orders by pressing the precise combinations of keys for their specific orders. Each menu item has a different combination of keys you need to press to complete the order with many foods having lots of different order variations. These sequences generally become more difficult as your upgrade your food items to to sell for more money. This money can then be reinvested into your restaurant for upgrades which creates a satisfying gameplay loop.
The gameplay is simple to learn but hard to master as you start out with some basic food with simple orders, but to progress you have to complete various catering challenges which can be very challenging often allowing only one or two mistakes. This difficulty can make the game frustrating and stressful, but it makes it even more satisfying when you finally pull it off.
Overall, CSD is a very fun cooking game with easy to learn, difficult to master gameplay which pairs well with the satisfying progression system.

I was already sick of the gameplay loop by the second day, and that's only for the second star. Reaching the fifth star will probably take even longer than that. I couldn't imagine putting so much time into this, it's just a stressful, repetitive grind

A stressful combination of reading comprehension, typing dexterity, memorization, muscle memory, time management and juggling.
Receive orders, press the prompts in the right order, do it fast, but not fast enough to mess up something. Keep the perfect combo going, remember to do the dishes, take out the trash, kill the rats, and pour the beer.
Remember, hiring a cashier, more cooks or someone to clean around is the coward way. A really man cooks 3 pizzas and 3 single serving bowls of soup at once.
It gets very chaotic from the start, and never gets better.
I'd say that this game does the stress part of working on a kitchen perfectly.
I enjoyed it for what it is, but I have a few problems with this game.
First, it DEMANDS perfection. There is no room for error, one mistake and say goodbye to your bonus.
As far as the game goes, 99 perfects and 1 very good is enough to deny you a bonus, and you REALLY need that bonus (which is by far one of the largest rewards in the game) to upgrade your food, to then get more money and more customers.
Second, the game progress is REALLY slow. 8 hours in, I was still a 1 star restaurant.
I mean, I don't want to say its that easy to become famous, but its 8 hours of doing the same dishes over and over and over and over and over again.
Its mind numbing, and you basically go on auto mode.
And thats not to say that some dishes get outright banned once you get famous enough, forcing you to get very complicated dishes with 5+ steps just to keep going.
Yeah, very chaotic. Remember to have a good keyboard, your customer won't take your "my keyboard double clicked and I added two lettuce to your burger, now I can't remove one" excuse for granted.

This game is an absolute classic that brings me right back to my childhood. I had so much fun with it — the beer pouring, the dish prep, the fast-paced chaos — it's genius how something so simple can be so competitive and addicting.

Yes, I don’t have much playtime here — but that’s only because there are sequels! And while I’ll always love this first game for its simplicity and charm, time moves on, and so do UI upgrades and new ideas.

Still a blast. It's the easiest of the trilogy, but even then, it sucks you in, especially in the later levels when things heat up.

They didn’t lose the magic. The devs kept what made the original great, while improving everything around it. Personally, I think the third game is my favorite — though it’s definitely the hardest of the bunch!

You are owner of start up restaurant (or bistro, idk), and you goal is to earn money by cooking various foods. For money, you can buy recipes, cooking hardware, utility technologies, which will help you easily manage day-to-day bussiness.
It's really hard to describe gameplay, so you should better check some videos.
Sometimes it gets to be hard, but it mostly depends on right combination of food you are planning to cook/serve.

An incredibly hectic microgame-based restaurant sim. In Cook, Serve, Delicious! you play as a restaurateur, opening your little cookhouse and hoping to reel in enough customers and cash to upgrade your tiny place into a 5-star world-renowned eatery.
During the day you'll have customers trickle - or eventually pile - in to your restaurant and order food. Each item has an associated microgame, from opening a bottle of wine to putting the right toppings on a pizza, and getting it wrong can upset your clientele, which in turn creates "negative buzz" and detracts people from visiting. A lot of the game comes down to rote memorization of what sequence of buttons needs to be pressed for each order, but the sheer amount of food types and individual recipes within each one means that your mind will be reeling as your restaurant gets busier. It all blends together in a raucous, frantic scramble that is, at its peak, intensely stressful - but in a way that's still extremely fun.
Between rounds you can change your menu for the following day, buy new foods and items for your restaurant, upgrade foods to more complicated but expensive versions, and even take part in specialist challenges, such as competing on the TV show Iron Cook. The game forces you to keep changing up your menu in order to manage your "buzz" so there's an element of needing to master as many different foods as possible, which keeps the game's panic levels high!
At the higher levels of the game CSD is almost frustratingly difficult, but it's also a marvelously rewarding game. Its age is of no relevance, really; the formula is so beautifully simple that it has stayed a game I love coming back to for years now.

I discovered this game in 2025 and honestly wish I had come across it earlier! It’s simple yet surprisingly challenging, and I absolutely loved the experience. If you enjoy time management and memory-based games, this one’s a must-try. Just a heads-up—you’ll definitely need some solid keyboard skills. 😅 I highly recommend it! Can’t wait to finish this one and move on to parts 2 and 3… assuming I don’t burn out by then, haha.

At its best, it is perhaps the greatest achievement of the madcap time management style of game design I've experienced. Once the game gets going, and you are able to hit a flow state of balancing different cooking styles, accessing personal memory shortcuts of which key on the keyboard means which ingredient (which changes from food item to food item), and figuring out when to pick certain tasks which allow you time to survey your options it feels like all of the animal instinctive parts of your brain are firing on all cylinders and can be intensely addictive.
However, (or perhaps fortunately, since it means I did not devolve into a slobbering ape who lives only to push buttons all day) the game does have plenty of shortcomings.
Firstly, it is too long; the periods in-between the Restaurant Stars you earn drag a bit and you are left spinning your wheels at the same level of challenge which little change in process. In the late game, the requirements to play the final challenge levels (The Hungry Festivities) take forever to unlock and use a currency you accrue as the game goes on, but are not told it is important to save them until the very end, which since you are able to use them for character unlocks in a side mode means most players are likely to waste them unnecessarily, additionally artificially lengthening the game.
Another complaint I have it that it is very easy to optimize the fun out of the game. The game is at its addicting best when you are managing foods with completely different styles, but as the game progresses and you want to buy upgrades to make the game more challenging, you naturally want to keep your menu full of the food items which make you the most money, which tends to skew your play to the same few meals over and over again. The game tries a couple of methods to combat this problem: Menu Rot when you have some items for too many days in a row, Randomized Bets that incentivize you to pick specific foods for potential cash gain with a high combo, and specific customers that want food items, such as VIPs and people you try to date; but I found them largely ineffective at attempting fully recapturing the variety of the early the mid game peaks.
All together I would still highly recommend [i]Cook, Serve, Delicious![/i] and am curious to see how the subsequent games aim to get me closer to being a slobbering button ape full-time.

Excellent game that I can't help but come back to from time to time. I played the original fangame (Ore no Ryomi) back when it came out, and it's amazing to have seen that grow into a whole franchise. The first game is still by far my favourite of the three; the recipes are unique and memorable, to point that I don't think I'll every lose the muscle memory for lasagna.

this game is fabulous & i cant believe i had never heard of it. i have played a lot of cooking style games mostly on android & 3ds. this game is just brilliant. usually you have to drag & drop or swipe the screen to chop or stir or serrve etc which can be hit & miss & after not all that long the games get too repetitive. this game even though it can feel a bit hectic, it has more depth to it in that there is a setting, you get emails & there seems to be a lot going on in them. i installed this game not knowing what to expect & in the blink of an eye 3..6 hours had passed & it feels like 5 minutes if that. i love the way you can buy your menu & you have to put a bit of thought into it because every dish has pros & cons so if you serve too much junk food you get more trash to clean out or you have to wash dishes & other stuff which can take up your time away from cooking & serving customers but then you can buy upgrades to counter act such as a dishwasher, i think its just brilliant. i am playing on the steamdeck & it plays fantastic, there are controls for the steamdeck & for all the various game pads xbox, playstation etc... i wish all games did this. there are three cook, serve, delicious games & i bought them today in a sale for less than a fiver & it is easily the best fiver i have spent so far this year. i dont know how different each game is but so far it is unique & immersive, also very addictive, im just taking a coffee break.
13ish years ago I thought I was just bad at this game and it was hard. Now after several years in tech and becoming very skilled with a keyboard (I was mostly a console gamer back then cause broke child cannot afford good PC) I'm slaying. Not sure why I got a sudden urge to play this game and go back to the first in the series buy hey, here I am.
Good simulation of what it is like to run an actual kitchen.
Just plain frustrating, the game makes it nigh impossible to score perfects each day by giving you incredibly lengthy chores that you have to work for a week to save enough money to reduce, or just ignore and fail the chore to be able to serve people in time. Apparently it cranks up the difficulty if you do well with the buzz metric, and one thing I dislike in games is auto-adjusting difficulty.
The other aspects of the game aren't much better - the interface is highly janky and confusing, while the artwork is simply unappealing. That said, even if I skip to the sequels, I'm not a fan of the core gameplay loop, which is fairly mindless and does not require much strategy. I tried to give it a fair chance, but the tedium of having to do 20 days straight of this just to get the first rank is a bit too much.
