This is a good game, the only thing I would ask for is simultaneous turns in multiplayer. Though I am posting this review because the official community discord sadly has bad moderation and this is taking a toll on the game’s community health. A majority of the active multiplayer community has been banned from the official community discord and all discussion of this are being removed from the steam community pages which leaves only one outlet, a negative review. Moderation is a difficult and unpaid activity and I understand that it can strain the most patient people. Still I think something needs to change.
I’ve been a dedicated member of the Conquest of Elysium 5
community for a long time, investing countless hours into the game and its player base. Unfortunately, I can no longer support this title because of the appalling state of its official community spaces.
The developers have pinned and promoted a specific Discord server as the primary hub for players. However, this server is managed with an extreme lack of accountability. I was recently swept up in a massive ban wave one that targeted a significant portion of the competitive multiplayer community despite having nothing to do with any alleged rule-breaking. ( I had been inactive for a few months )
I honestly loved CoE5, but I can’t recommend it anymore. I put a massive amount of time into this game and the community...(look at my hours for this and 4...) just years of being a dedicated member wiped out because of some scorched earth moderation style that the devs seem totally fine with. Until something is done, my review will be negative.
Great game but community discord is ran by toxic moderators, banning anyone opposed to their radical ideologies. This is bad for the game and everyone trying to enjoy it. If you gonna play single player go for it, but if you were looking for a mulitplayer expierence look elsewhere. Im not personally banned but i knew alot of the community was banned by a salty mod for addressing them as, "he". Not knowing of the pronouns that he wanted to be addressed by.

Game has NO tutorial and will have you pressing every button on your keyboard just to figure out how to get combat to start. If it wasn't for that and the loading screen EVERY time you complete a turn which last like... 30 seconds it adds up. Lets say you played for hours on fastest difficulty would had to click top left thousands of times and had wait 30s every single time. Giving Bethesda a challenge for most loading screens in a game ever
My main complaint is the games price. This is an indie game, it rarely gets updates and rarely gets any Balance or QoL updates. Relying on mods to fix things like balance or AI. Which I would be fine if it was priced as such.
15$ seems reasonable with 20$ being the maximum considering Steams cut. Dont buy unless its on sale for that, if you dont desperately want it then wait for its on sale for 5-10$ which happens at least once a year or so from what Ive seen

Never would I have thought a game could make me hate dwarves so much. Extinguish the disgusting little vermin. Bury them in their halls, salt whatever foul soil they sprout from and bring death to their hideous queens. No sacrifice is too great if it means an end to this neverending blight.

I sacrificed 500 innocent people to summon a long lost god of the ocean just to watch as he got set on fire and burnt to death by a couple of fire mages who worked for a crooked politician. Great game, requires a lot of strategy that will be immediately erased if you underestimate some mole people.

I keep losing track of time when i play this game. Genuinely enjoyable to have a full late game doom stack and attempt to summon a demon lord just to lose my main commander and be sent to hell.

I really love how old school strategy this game is but it does have a few gripes.
Positives:
Quite unique classes that have different needs in the lands and unique soldiers and higher units later on. some good challenge against enemies with having to make armies made to break them. many characters have unique mechanics that are not to complex so you can understand how they are used. Magic feels powerful but not overpowered and is hard to gain.
Negatives:
Far to random with range and starts. you often have to make half a dozen restarts just to get an ok seed so you can even play. Starting armies are often quite weak as it only takes a few battles to kill your fist army if not a forced single fight, killing the main commander that is supposed to be your strongest. going to other realms is just not worth it. it takes to much time, kills entire armies quickly, and there is not enough resources gained for such work. Melee commanders are to weak to be front line for most groups. capitals should all have at least 5 gold, 1 iron, and 1 trade in my opinion.
I overall love this game and always recommend it, but i will await for more updates that fix the issues like starts and where resources are.

this game doesnt handhold you all all and just throw you into volcano crater. you gonna need some time to learn the rope and honestly i think you either gonna love it or hate it,no between. all class have really unique feel into it and it feels really REALLY fun when you pop off and make your empire snowball so hard.
my problem with the game is when you hit endgame and you establish your overpowered empire,there is nothing much to do anymore and sometimes its so tedious to find the last few enemy unit and finish the game. i wish one day there gonna be update that make endgame more threatening like how total warhammer have endgame crisis (well there is some endgame shenanigan when you fight demonologist or voice of el but i just wish its more consistent or we have more neutral evennt thats actually make huge impact).
That demonologist is not going to be good for the economy.
Once you work out how to play this game, it becomes very enjoyable. If you're overwhelmed at the start honestly as a new player just stick with you'll get there.
I played as a druid, kept almost dying from doom stacks of demons after a demonologist killed my two other opponents and then opened a portal to hell. I struggle to survive and end up mostly sitting around an ancient forest farming herbs, and then as I get an elder druid, many turns later I get told the demonologist has lost all its commanders and I have won the game somehow.
10/10 would get handed the victory again

For a game with visuals out of the 90's, it has so much depth and an addictive quality that I can't help but enjoy.
Pretty neat TBS. The controls are a bit unintuitive, but i'm getting the hang of it.

This is a 9/10 amazing gem, I love this strategy/adventure game! You are probably like me, you saw one of Reggie's videos and you thought it looked awesome, and now it's on sale. If you like strategy games, this is a great choice. I would describe this as a simple complex game, which I will expand on later. If you read no further and still get the game then before you do anything, when starting a new world you should check the 'Battle Reports' option. This will allow you to view battles more than 1 time.
It has a lot of QoL quirks that are missing in this as opposed to many other titles but it's still worth the time to play it. For example; is there is no quitting to main menu, only desktop. There are some things that I didn't expect but were nice to see, such as something like 50 colors including slight hue variants to choose for yourself and the AI. Most games have 8ish options so having so many is nice to see. The game also doesn't auto save in singleplayer, you have to do that manually so keep that in mind.
This game is simple in that what you will be doing is easy to understand and there isn't as much on surface. In a civ game you would be planning what to build on a tile probably several turns in advance, weighing many options. You would construct tile improvements to build up an economy, do some diplomacy etc... There is basically no building in this game, you take your army you move it to a tile that tile is now yours, you get stuff from that tile that feeds into your economy(Some factions have exceptions). There is also only war, no diplomacy. It's very simple to grasp but complex to understand the finer aspects, specifically the units. You could move on to a tile that looks easy to take, it is empty but as soon as you walk on it you're ambushed because there was a bandit group there that was hiding and you didn't bring a scout. You could take your huge army and fight a small group of enemies only to realize one of them is a wizard with a charm spell and your entire army is now his. The complexity in this game comes from how your faction plays and the unit abilites and how those two interact.
If you are here from Reggie's video then you came for the ridiculousness that can happen in a game, like when he conquered hell. That stuff isn't going to happen all that often, in fact that specific series of events was very unique. He rolled a lot of RNG with his world to make that story possible. But that doesn't mean your games will be boring. There is so much content in this game that even 90 hours later I am still finding new stuff with map gen. There are a ton of combinations for the unique tiles that spawn on the map and the magic items you can get, so many that you are bound to have a game of equally crazy scale as a Reggie video just not every time you play. CoE5 is more than a strategy game, it's also an adventure game. You will have your own wacky adventures that by the grace of RNG came together.
Oh and I forgot to mention the factions! There are 27(I think?) factions and I've still not played 10. There is a huge variety and I've already written to much for a review so suffice it to say; factions are very cool and unique.
I love this game. It is rare for a game to hold my attention for 97 hours and I still want to play it, I can see myself playing this for quite sometime. I loved it so much that as soon as I saw Dominions 6 was on sale, their other game, I bought it immediately. You will lose a lot, often on the first few turns to some random bad luck. But that's okay, it's quick to start a new world and there are mods that can change some of the more doomsday RNG stuff.
I'm impressed by the variety of factions, the unit range and the potential outcomes to runs. I think that's where the CoE series shines most. The lore is decent too; there's often obscurity between in-game experts on what exactly the Dwarves are, whilst the entries for the more-powerful entities are fantastic. Though not pretty, the sheer count of unit models and again, the variety, is spectacular. Though not elaborate, the battles can be fun to watch.
Beyond that, I can't be generous to the design. The UI is tiny and without an introduction to hotkeys, clicking on menu items was annoying. If the game was intuitive to play - i.e. left-click to select a stack, right-click to order around - I wouldn't mind the lack of a tutorial, but that's not how this title operates. It's extremely convoluted and if you want to learn it, better find the developer's own guide or watch one of the few youtube videos to introduce yourself. The sound design is all over the place and it feels like a lot of stuff are stock effects.
It's fun to watch someone who knows this game play it - but it's not for me.
Tickles the Tism
Do you like Turn Based Stratey(TBS)? Do you like unbalanced but playable factions? Do you hate micro controlling your units in battles? Do you like simple graphics? If so this is the game for you.
This is Macro Strategy, with almost no micro. The gameplay is simple, but also pretty darn good. There are a ton of mods for it too.
I would suggest watching some one play a few games of it before trying. This game is best when you can add in your own stories. IE Roleplay whats happening a bit.
This is a simple Indie TBS with plenty of fun, I would consider it one of the better Strategy games I have played, at least on a scale of fun.

-While not realistic it hits on a few things of realism that work for me. Examples. If you are on a boat and you are engaging some one else at sea, Do NOT engage a fire mage as your boat will burn and you will lose your army. PAY attention to the time of year when crossing over ice.. I might have lost an army to that. If you mine into hell some how I hope you are prepared for the apocalypse because you are getting an unending flow of very strong demons. Worthwhile to do out of spite if you are about to lose though.
-Mods are easy to make/get/use but oftentimes very unbalanced.
-Game has a map editor as well as Map Generation.
-It has never been even remotely sluggish. IE AI turns go very fast.
-Every unit type has s description of neat worldbuilding.
-Multiple different modes of play.
-Some "hero/lords" have skills that you can use on the overmap for varied effects.
Cons
-Some times movement really feels like a slog to get from one side of the map to the other.
-Some of it is VERY unbalanced.
-The AI does cheat for resources or units or something. But I can not tell by how much. BUT it is very noticable.
-Some of the previous factions did not make a return which is a shame IMO. How do you make a fantasy game with no elf faction.
-For some reason they locked a few of the Classes from the player, available to be reinstated with mods.
-There are like 20 playable factions, but I wish there were more.

-The world building is a bit odd but in a fun way. Dwarves for example are essentially naked mole rats with a matriarch, beards and eggs. Do I like that? Hell no, But man it is interesting and different.

-Recruitment can be a bit rough
-Some times if you lose your good army, you pretty much lost.
-The UI is acceptable, not bad, but maybe could be improved.

What would otherwise be a brilliant strategy game is deeply marred by the fact that when you hit 'next turn', it strobes at you. And you HAVE to watch that strobe if you want to see enemy movement. Other strategy games are more kind- they simply put a little text and keep the background static, or just show you the map. This game does not. Instead, it assigns every player a color and rapidly switches backgrounds in order to indicate each npc taking its turn. If you were only playing multiplayer with no AI players, this would not be an issue, I assume. Seems like a dangerous oversight. As an epileptic player, I turn to strategy games as one of the few genres in the industry that isn't actively hostile to me and people like me. I realy want to like this game, and I wish this could be modded out or patched, but I don't think it has been.

Created a succubus army, tamed the lords of Inferno, and conquered heaven itself; only for a psychic space worm to teleport into my capital and kill everyone.
Nothing better than wizard battle, and game considers so many magic paths.

Avoiding Water simulator 5 is a hex-based, turn-based strategy game where you play as various "classes" in an attempt to quote "conquer Elysium" *roll credits*. The game is stated as a "rogue-like", and what this really means from a gameplay standpoint is that the maps are procedurally generated and plays a lot like Age of Wonders, if you ever played one of those games. This means you have "heroes"/commander units and go out and fight "independent" forces, getting XP, items, and capturing various locations. The independents sometimes also roam the map. You will find them to be perhaps one of the most enjoyable aspects to this game, due to their variety (since this game technically allows you to go to ten different "realms"), difficulty, and various nuances (for example some independents are more docile while others might just destroy settlements).
As for the main part of the game, you want to build an "army" by capturing income locations and recruiting or "summoning" units with your hero units. I feel, ironically, this is an iffy point. Depending on the difficulty of the AI, sometimes it feels like the AI somehow is able to produce more and better units than you than it would be possible in the given timeframe. And that timeframe can feel very drawn out and slow, despite this being called a "quick" strategy game (just to put it into perspective, most units are 50 gold, with the best ones being 50 gold, 25 iron. A "good" income point, which is rare, only gives I think like 3 gold per turn). Keep in mind these maps can be quite large, so you may find yourself very frustrated if you have been building a great army for dozens of turns, only for it to die and start from square one again.
Then of course there's a "third" income, which is your "class's" (basically your race) special resource. I find this to be more valuable than any other resource, because your hero units use it to A) "level up" and B) use abilities. Problem is that, like with the gold issue, the production of this income is usually scarce and one hero needs like thousands of it to level up himself and produce your best units. Furthermore, this "special resource" is normally required to do almost anything "unique", which includes going to special planes otherwise you'll never see them in a normal game. However, in a normal game you virtually don't have a reason to "explore" because you want to avoid the AI swallowing the map, which is unfortunate as you're basically not going to see much of the content available to you by default.

[*]Let's not ignore the obvious, this game isn't for everyone. It's hard and the production/income issue can throw off a lot of people. Even the AI gets spawn-killed sometimes, which feels like a development oversight at this point. I don't like mentioning mods in reviews, but there are mods that allow you to "build" income sources, or adjust them, or prevent spawn-killing, and they're highly rated for a reason.
[*]The other realms are a beautiful idea. But that's just what they are, an idea. 99% of games you will interact with at most 3 (sometimes only 2 depending on the enemy races). The only reason I can think you'd go to the other realms besides for personal goals would be if you were in a muliplayer game, because the AI for my games didn't use them.
[*]These maps are massive. It can take forever to get one army from one point to the next. I find it unfortunate there's no fast way to move armies if you've already taken the regions.
[*]AI on normal doesn't really take advantage of everything that a class can actually do, which is why I mention maybe this is more meant for multiplayer games.

I witnessed entire armies fall to a horror from the void that lived inside a lone temple in the middle of a bunch of old battlefields, littered with corpses. It swallowed armies of roman era humans, demons, and even a couple angels.
I was playing guild master with my own adventurers guild, spawning small adventurers parties of various kinds. One day, out popped an adventuring group consisting of a wizard, a prospective king, a dwarf, an elf archer, a novice necromancer, and a human warrior. They went straight for the temple where the horror lived.
They won. By abrasax they actually managed to kill the horror that felled entire armies. They lost almost the entire group except the elf archer and a dwarf, and those two have guarded that temple ever since.

This game has the unique faction mechanics of Total Warhammer 3 without the micromanaging and the per-game story potential of Dwarf Fortress. I have only played two full games so far, but I will regale you with their tales.
Game 1 (Kobold King):
A Roman senator kept teleporting legionaries through a mysterious portal in the woods, culminating in the awakening of the Colossus of Rhodes. I was desperately throwing together armies of Kobolds with sticks to hold back the Roman hordes for the whole game. Meanwhile, a meteorite landed in the north, and The King in Yellow seems to have emerged from the crater and killed everyone but myself and the Senator. Eventually, he set his sights on me and started to slither south. However, he hadn't considered the hardening effects prolonged anti-Roman operations would have on the Kobold mind, and upon arrival was promptly shanked to death in the woods. However, on his way, he seems to have wrecked the Roman economy so badly that the Senator simply ran out of money, and a hundred angry Kobolds eventually cornered him in a library and threw rocks at him until he died.
Game 2 (Kobold King):
In the second, the world was in a "fall of an empire" era. Eras change what kinds of and how many cities spawn on the map, as well as the frequency and type of environmental hazards and spawns. In ours, there were almost no major cities in the north where my first hatchery started, and every bush on the continent was a clown car full of brigands. We spent the first third of the game trying to find enough towns to conquer to afford anything but dirt to eat and whatever hobos we could kidnap from the bus stop to field. Half the tiles on the board were occupied with gangs of thieves, and because we couldn't afford to field more armies, every turn, half the towns we owned would be conquered by wild moose. The only two major cities we had found weren't helping either. One was guarded by a dragon, and the other was a tower full of zany wizards. We didn't realize that at first, until an almost 200-strong army of Bolds was melted, withered, poisoned, and burned to death without even making it to the front door. Now, as much as that sucks, we had one edge: Kobolds are cheap. We breed so fast, in fact, that hatcheries and strongholds generate free low-tier units every turn. So as bad as the brigand plague was for us, it was way worse for everyone else. Eventually, we had amassed enough free units to patrol our territory to keep both the marauder and moose population in check. With our angry Skittle game warden stabilizing the boarders, we amassed all the resources we could and assembled an expeditionary force under Chief Rizz the White, who marched south in the hopes of finding enough money for us to stop licking the mold off the walls to survive. Along the way, he plowed through two smaller armies of Gnome necromancers. They belonged to one of the AI factions, but I didn't really think much of it at the time because killing them didn't help our finances. A few turns later, I got jumpscared by the victory screen. Apparently, those two armies had been the last defenders of civilization in the South, and in their absence, all the remaining factions' cities had been taken over by homeless vagrants.
9/10 because Gnomes have rights in this game
CoE5 is super fun. it's not designed to be perfectly balanced or even a good competitive game, it's balanced around "what would be the most fun thing you could do with this concept" and more games should be designed like that. The only game on the market I can think of besides Total War where you can have standing armies of thousands, and definitely the only game on the market where you'll be marching on literal actual hell with that death stack.
Two complaints: 1. Some of the classes desperately need more work and 2. The magical artifacts are nearly useless given there's no way to garuntee any single one and even if you could, most of your generals are back liners and won't be in the actual fight.
Nothing that would stop me from recommending this game at full price, absolutely worth every penny
i like to bang my head to a wall so the wall eventually crack for every try, don't play this game man this game is too random and my AI ally sabotage me all the time and they decide to sit there and not helping me wtf they have like 400 army up their base and some of my mines and settlement they just steal, why?!
Conquest of Elysium 5 is one of if not the GREATEST game ever made. The art style, the gameplay, the mechanics are all superb and incredible. I will be playing MUCH more Conquest Of Elysium 5 because that’s what it deserves.
Game is amazing, community is toxic as all get out. The official community discord hands out bans like candy for playing the game with other people banned from the discord. Roughly 30ish people were banned because one annoying, but prolific player upset an admin.

Я нашел игру после того как реджи сделал пару видео, и она мне пришла по вкусу
1,Минус-ии тупее пробки или делает много не нужных или глупых действий примеры: я видел как 20 отрядов от 100 до 50 воинов кобольдов и армий друида пытались убить вампира с шмотками на бронь и маг сопротивления как, итог они потеряли более половину юнитов до конца раунда... На одном из раундов я на скердж лорде решил дать богословление глубин на шахту (в 3 раза больше дохода от шахты) то бишь столицу гномов. Как итог весь доход от 40 железа приходился на балисты и все алмазы потрачены на поиск шахт и без полезных на зачарованные врата(хотя других игроков или неопределенных сил не было ). Другой пример такой же с кобальдами они тупо тратят все драгоценные камни на установку ловушек даже в самые не нужные дал защиты места то бишь башни и города, при потери шамана не стараются заменить его другим а закупают других юнитов...
2,Из хотелок хотелось бы более понятный мультиплеер, запрет или разрешение или передача квадратов для союзников со снятием ритуальных меток и усилений, больше енд гейма для сенатора и барона с кобальдом (да я знаю маги 3 уровня круты как и драконы но они дохнут как мухи от инфекций и разложения даже древние драконы, и барон может ставить вассалов в мотеле, но что мешает поставить их в крупный город?.. А сенатор... больше тупых сил за деньги? хотя буду честен он итак мега сильный класс, хотя буду честен ревилера силы на диких раундах слабоваты)

COE5 is very fun and deep. the gameplay loop has alot of variation with each of its classes and has a ton of content and replayability.
