这家制作组做了很多跳马游戏，这是唯一一个能让我一口气打通关的，可见美术和异域风情的重要性。主线就是一群忍者跑去刺杀将军，途经野外（樱花道）、民间市场、将军府——你别说这东方风格的建模还真不错，和西洋象棋结合起来竟然不违和。
正常关卡棋子都是西洋象棋，隐藏关卡棋子都是日本将棋，飞和角分别对应车和象，金将和银将得额外记一下，金将是两个斜后方不能走的国王，银将是左、右、正后方不能走的国王。换句话说：以金将、银将为中心的3×3格子的后两排是互补的，第一排是一样的。
有些关卡不得不牺牲好多同志来保证至少有一人通过，玩得比较肉疼，就为了刺杀一个将军死那么多人，值得吗？我挺好奇每个关卡最少需要牺牲几人，制作组应该标注一下，然后让高手研究把伤亡率降到最低的策略。
这个游戏建议在看收集品的时候切换成日语看一下，结合一下能看懂的几个汉字可以更好地理解文本。像手里剑、军扇铁扇什么的英文版都是直接取日语发音，根本看不懂，但是切换成日文版你就可以直接读汉字。
缺点：画面太黑了，就算这是个潜行游戏，也完全可以把画面做成能让玩家看清楚画面的黑夜。这家制作组好几个游戏都有这种问题，费眼或者伤眼。
隐藏成就彩蛋非常amazing，[spoiler] 完全想不到30关那个灯光乱闪的房间是可以进去的，进入方法不是点击窗户，而是旋转屏幕。[/spoiler]

[b]What is it:[/b] A chess inspired puzzle game, but you don’t really need to know chess to play it. You play as one (or sometimes more) chess knights in a grid-based level. Starting from a safe area where the enemy pieces cannot attack you, you must move to the exit area without being seen. You move as a chess knight moves, jumping in an L pattern, two steps in one direction and one perpendicular. There are enemy pieces as well, and you cannot attack them, but they will attack you if you get in their range. You take turns moving, you move one of your pieces, then the enemy moves one of their pieces. Only one of your pieces needs to reach the exit, so sometimes you have to sacrifice a knight. Not only will that get an enemy piece out of the way, it will actually remove it from the game entirely, since they fight a duel to the death!

It starts easy, with a few levels with no enemies that just teach you about the movement patterns of a knight and the goal of the game, then slowly introduces enemy types, but it gets challenging after the first chapter. Other mechanics include tall grass you can hide in, teleporters, strong enemies which can survive one attack, multi-layered levels, traps with bells that sound the alarm when you move on them, pieces you have to capture, and treasure you must bring back to the starting zone. The puzzles are interesting, sometimes you just have to find the right path avoiding enemies, sometimes you need to decide which pawn to sacrifice and where, or whether the only path forward is to trigger the alarm, even if that brings more enemies into play. And there are hidden levels that you have to find by going on tiles that clearly don’t belong on the path to the solution. It all takes place in fully immersive environments, forests and villages that you actually move through literally, after finishing one level you move to the next house down the street until you reach the end of the village. I liked the puzzles, and I enjoyed hunting for secret levels for a while. In theory, this is a good puzzle game.

Yet, the game is broken in many ways. There is one single undo available, and only if you didn’t die. The enemy patterns are not shown, you have to play a lot to figure out how they move. So the second half of the game is basically replaying the same level over and over until you figure out which piece will move next and where, then plan a route around that. The game is in immersive 3D, you can freely rotate the camera around, and the action takes place at night, so it’s often hard to figure out what the board layout actually is. There is no indication where the secret levels are, and while in the first chapter it was fun to try to reach all the squares in all the levels, the later levels are big and hard enough to solve, I don’t think that many people would enjoy hunting for secrets that much. It crashed many times, and it is quite resource intensive, it barely works on an integrated GPU unless you make the window small. The developers have no intention to keep maintaining this, so be forewarned that the game is buggy and will continue to be buggy.

So, to recap, good idea, decent puzzles, but terrible QoL and buggy. I really want to recommend this game, but I can't in its current state.

[b]How long is it:[/b] 50 levels + 10 harder, hidden levels, 3-6 hours to finish if you use a guide to find the secret levels, must be completed in order.
[b]Level design:[/b] Decent. Good ramp up in difficulty, fairly varied levels, with a few different types of solutions. I didn’t like that many of them rely more on slowly building a path that works while watching and learning the enemy move patterns, rather than a clever solution or a purely logical solve.
[b]Quality:[/b] Unfortunately, bad. Very limited undo. Mouse and controller, no keyboard. A few audio/video settings. No cloud saving, but good achievements. A bit slow on an integrated GPU, but it works. A bit unresponsive to clicks. Beautiful scenery.
[b]Worth the price:[/b] Yes.
[b]Most positive aspect for me:[/b] A good concept with some good puzzles.

整体很不错，但没法一下子看清敌对棋子是什么子，中偏好评
チェスの駒を使って、敵を避けながら盤面の特定の場所に移動できればクリアのパズル。敵ももちろんチェスの駒で、その動きをしてきます。ワープゾーンや敵から攻撃されなくなるゾーンなどのギミックがあります。とある地点に駒を移動させると、隠しステージに行けたりする。
これ、ステージ４９がめちゃくちゃイライラする。難しすぎです。こちらから敵に攻撃できないルールなのに、クイーンのコマに出口をガチガチに守られたらストレスが溜まるに決まっている。
全体的に、バランスがどうもイマイチ。割と後半戦なのに、拍子抜けするほど簡単にクリアできるステージがすごく多い。パズルが練れていない。
I don't like leaving a thumb down, so I'm still gonna support the devs, because it's overall a pretty good game and the price is fair. But I have to admit it's also frustating.
- First, it's the 2nd game I'm playing today that displays Synty's assets.... -__-
- Overall, art/music/sound is really minimal and uninspired with questionable choices (trees blocking the way).
- Sometimes you don't really understand how the AI works, so you try, hoping it's making a way for you, trying to guess what the devs prepared. It's alright, but I was expecting a more strategic approach.
This is a badly made game which i threw money at in a vain attempt to find enjoyment from my Tilt 5.
Kills my CPU. Ran hotter than a fat chick in Phoenix. Want to get a refund, but the game was interesting when I played. Got the bundle, willin to bet all of 'em are like this.
I really like this lil gem. It somehow reminds me of Zapper for Gamecube, a game i liked alot too.. Its relaxing, keeps u entertained and occupied for a long time. I especially love how its chess pieces but puzzle like, true to how the chess pieces would move in chess.
Plus the extra bonus of assassination, who doesnt like some good old fashioned killing to really make u get into this way deeper.
The only down side in this game is that u end up in a realm, where u risk missing out on items for a good long while, 5 or so for me, because just getting to the end area wasnt enough, u actually have to land on the artifact to claim it, not just the end area of that map.The game is missing that information, so its learn by doing, this is good and bad.
Overall i really love this game. Such a nice time waster, u can just walk away from it n come back, no penalties for that either, so its good for those busy days, rushing away n to pc.

Chess Knights: Shinobi is the follow-up to Viking Lands, going by the release dates, which are pretty confusing though - we have Knights Retreat in Aug 2020, CK:VL in Aug 2020, and CK:S in Nov 2020. So most probably the games were developed in parallel, but actually, without the dates, I would guess that KR was first, then CK:S, then CK:VL. The games certainly share the base mechanic, with the two Chess Knights games adding some bells and whistles. And while Viking Lands looks the most advanced from mechanics point of view, Shinobi is the definite winner for atmosphere.
The Knights are silent assassins in this game, moving through the (not perfect) grid of guards to eliminate targets. More than once, Hitman GO came to my mind, but overall, the game is really solid, with one exception: the bonus levels. Those have a somewhat tacked-on feel, with blurry visuals, near-identical pieces that act differently, and entry / exit bugs. As the bonus levels are somewhat difficult to find anyway, it may be better to focus on the core 50 levels, which are definitely entertaining, if not particularly challenging.
Its cute and simple, but the tutorial isnt clear and you cant capture enemy pieces.

Appears to be a game where you use a knight (or some knights) to rescue your brethren from an opposing force. You have to do so by not getting captured by the opposing pieces. Can be very tricky. Interesting.

Oyunda sadece siyah atları yönetiyoruz ve haritalarda L şeklinde ilerleyerek çıkışa varmaya çalışıyoruz. Diğer taşlarsa (fil, kale, vezir vs) samurayları canlandırıyorlar ve yerimizi tespit ettikleri anda taşımızı yiyorlar. Bütün atlarımızı kaybettiğimiz zaman bölüme baştan başlamak zorunda kalıyoruz.
Bütün taşlar satranç kurallarına uygun şekilde hareket ediyor. Tıpkı satrançta olduğu gibi bazen galip gelebilmek için bazı taşlarımızı feda etmemiz gerekebiliyor. Bulmacalar ilk başta kolay başlayıp giderek zorlaşıyor. Toplamda 50 bölüm bulunuyor. Bunların arasında 10 tane de gizli bölüm var.
Oyunun sevmediğim kısmı atımızla diğer taşları yiyememek oldu. Düşman taşları hiçbir şekilde alamıyoruz. Tek yapabildiğimiz kaçmak. Tamam, samurayların zırhı sağlam olur falan da biz de ninjayız sonuçta. En azından piyonları falan alabilseymişiz iyi olurmuş. Bulmacalara da çeşitlilik gelirmiş hem. Bir de bonus bölümlerinde hangi taşın ne olduğunu anlamak biraz zor olabiliyor.
Satrancı seviyorsanız ve kafanızı çalıştırmanı gereken bulmacalardan hoşlanıyorsanız indirim zamanında 2-3 liraya düşen bu yapıma bir şans verebilirsiniz. 6,5/10

Great game on Chess. It's casual (for the most part) except for a few levels where there's an insane difficulty spike. But if you keep fiddling around with the pieces you'll eventually stumble upon the solution. The good news is that the enemy doesn't think too deep (which is what keeps it feeling fun and more like a "game" rather than a real life serious event).
I would definitely recommend this game to everyone who loves puzzles. There's a bit of puzzle elements involved in a very refreshing chess setting.

I did really enjoy it! And as somebody else already said in his/her review: I actually felt kind of sneaky at times :D
There are no instructions at all beyond how chess pieces move. The player is not told what the goal of the game is or how to achieve the goal. Most frustrating of all game does not explain what pieces on the board in relation to the player piece. Some seem to move left to right, other diagonally & there appears to be no clear reason why other than the piece that captured me is supposed to MAYBE be a rook or bishop. I honestly cannot tell. I also found myself sucked into an unwinnable golden room with no instruction at all. Am I supposed to capture the pieces? Are the pieces supposed to capture me? Am I supposed to reach a check point? What IS the check point!? The spaces that LOOK like an end goal reaching all of them does nothing. The complete lack of instruction is infuriating to a point of rage. I need a clear guide as to what pieces are, what they do & where they go along with what the goal of a game is or it is unplayable. There is a short menu that shows hardly distinguishable video of some pieces. Rook moves, up/down, & bishop diagonal but that still does NOT tell me what is a rook in the game, do they capture me, I them or none of the above? Can these pieces "Activate" at 1 square? 2 squares? 3? I have no idea. Literally nothing is ever explained. I know this game has all great reviews but I do not understand how. I find this to be completely unplayable & am honestly mad I spent the money. If anyone can clearly explain how to play this game to me I may change my review if I can. If not do not buy. I repeat Do. Not. Buy.
Really fun game, I like puzzles a lot, I like the concept of chess but not actual chess. Really like how they used chess mechanics on different board layouts. The theme was also really cool avoiding the guards as a ninja with a few bonus mechanics along the way on the board. Also contains some extra secret stages and achievements for bonus challenges.
Really enjoyable and relaxing puzzle game can see myself spending a lot more time with it. Definitely recommended for chess lovers.
For the price this is an absolute steal, gets quite challenging but retains the fun factor with clever level design and different elements.

I loved this game, very challenging! I felt like a real shinobi dodging the other characters (pieces) and trying to reach the goals. Nice illumination and mood in general. I really recommend!!! Congrats to the developers!
CHESS KNIGHTS: VIKING LANDS に引き続いて購入。
前作と比較して、新たに「ワープする床」や、「隠れられる茂み」、「隠しステージ」などが追加され、ずいぶん進化しました。
コマのトリッキーな動きや、自分は相手を攻撃できず、相手の屋敷に気づかれずに忍び込むステルス的な要素など、どう考えてもバイキング（前作）より忍者（今作）のほうが、ゲームのテーマに合っていると思います。
前作とは趣の異なる和風の音楽も非常に素晴らしく、やはり当シリーズは音楽や環境音が素晴らしく良く出来ていると思います。
ただし、桜の木とか日本庭園は良いとして、それ以外は「外人の考えた日本」になってしまっていて、建物や部屋の調度品などは、明確に「中国のどこか」としか言えないようなステージも多く、部屋にでっかい「銅鑼」が置いてあるなど、こういった部分は大変残念です。
ゲーム内容は、ワープゾーンなどを除けばゲーム内容は前作と全く同じで、慣れればすいすい解けますが、慣れるまでがしんどいかも知れません。
数手先までの動き方を読んで、論理的に順序良く考えると解法が見えてくる、その感覚が病みつきになる知的パズルです。
Really great minimalist puzzle game. The recent update tripled the content of an already great game, definitely worth the price here. Knights are my least favorite chess piece, but playing them as a ninja may have changed my view of them.
The difficulty scales wonderfully right up until the last level which is very very hard, but just enough to where you feel accomplished when you beat it. The only negative I have here is you can't pan the camera, only zoom and rotate. Other than that this is a standout of the minimalist puzzle genre.
Edit: The developer has fixed some bugs and given the community a much-needed hint about the secret achievement, so props to him as well!
そこそこやりました。
日本をイメージしたかなり雰囲気がとても良いパズルゲームです。音楽の雰囲気や、マップ、駒、すべてにおいて和を感じます。
基本自分が操る駒はチェスのナイトに当たる駒で、これを敵の駒に取られないようにゴールまで辿り着くというゲームになっています。敵の駒もチェスの駒の動きをしてくるので、チェスの駒の動きを知っている方の方が入りやすいでしょう。
ただしチェスとはほとんど関係ない、ほぼオリジナルのパズルゲームです（やってみればわかります）
難易度はちょっと高め。進むにつれてワープだったり草むらに隠れたりという要素が加わり、味方の駒も増えたりと頭を悩ませる。
自分は少しずつ進めていますが、途中詰んで進めなくなってしまいました。いつかクリアしたいですが、ほんとに難しいです。もしかしたら下手な人にはちょっと厳しい難易度かもしれません。
ただセール価格ならかなり安くなるので間違いなく買いだと思います。
Moves aren't really like chess.
So far, so good! Too short lived at the moment, but it was fun! Most of the levels are not that difficult at the beginning. I'd say, from level 19 onward it started to get actually challenging. I'd love at least one or two stages with levels like that. You've got the scaffolding right, now you just gotta focus on the puzzles.

É um jogo de puzzle baseado no xadrez, onde você deve concluir as fases resgatando unidades capturadas ou apenas chegando a um determinado ponto. Você controla unidades que se movimentam como a peça do cavalo, com movimentos em "L".
Este jogo tem novas mecânicas se comparados ao jogo anterior ("Chess Knights: Viking Lands"), como arbustos para se esconder e plataformas de teleporte, fases apenas de passar pelos inimigos sem perder todas as unidades, sem precisar resgatar outras; cinemáticas e gráficos simples mas muito bem feitos (tá linda a coisa). Pelo preço proposto, vale cada centavo :)
Lembre-se apenas que esse jogo ainda está em acesso antecipado, então ainda faltam fases a serem acrescentadas e bugs a serem corrigidos.
Puzzle based on Horse move in Chess. As there is no tips or how to play tutorial, by playing only you can learn. It's kinda interesting. Totally 4 * 10 levels. Zooming is available but sometimes default view makes difficult to select a box.
At the end of level 22, I got a message to be continued. So under level list, I selected 23rd. Again same message. I tried to select level 24 from the level list. But it is disabled.
Chess Knights Shinobi is another great puzzle game from Minimol Games. The art is very polished, and the game has an amazing soundtrack and sound effects, that helps you to get in the Feudal Japan mood! The puzzles are very well designed and even if you aren't a chess player, you can easily understand how to play. I can't wait for the full release, and for the next game from the series (:
CK: Shinobi is a amazing puzzle game, at each level is a new challenge to pass through. The game graphics is are simple, but it don't strip the experience cuz' the level design is excellent. My favorite part in this game is the sound design, the music are good and interact directly with the thematic of the game. Each movement of enemy pieces and "teleports" has a well-developed sound.
The game is more fun that i expected. Is a new way to play chess.

Design: I love the progression. The mechanics are introduced at a great pace and it quickly evolves to more challenging levels. I can't wait to see what is to come on the following levels!
Art: The art is fantastic. The ambience is really fitting for the theme and it immerses you in that story. It really shows the effort and the desire to go that extra mille on a simple game
Sound: Again, amazing sound design and really polished! The music helps to set the perfect mood for the story.

An incredibly sophisticated game for its genre. We usually see puzzles like this being done with little to no graphics, with stock audio and what not. I just love the quality and the amount of work that was put into it. It really feels like a premium game. Worth every PENNY!

The SHINOBI theme is awesome: soundtrack and sound effects really gives you the theme immersion and peace of mind that the puzzles demands. Got myself looking for shurikens on my pocket :D
The series makes the perfect blending of chess pieces movement with the puzzles presented in such a clever way that makes the game fun for everyone.
My son (4 years old) NEVER EVER asked to join a chess match.. BUT when he saw me playing, he just got hooked: guess he will learn a bit of chess without knowing (LOL) -- maybe another chess fan is on the making.
Like where the game is going and development seems to be at a fair pace. Game was challenging and fun but at time it felt like I had to skip the enemies turns by moving my pieces back and forth to get an opening which felt like I was cheesing it, but maybe that intentional or I just didn't find the actual intended solution.
Would recommend to those who love chess and ninjas.

Cute lil' chess puzzle game.
You control a 'warrior' knight which moves as expected for the piece. The game has some sort of lore and progression to it, you have to move around evading your enemies using interesting tactics like hiding in a bush, and on some you have to kill an enemy as well as moving through the map, as you start in the woods and fight your way to the village.
Scenery is about Edo era Japan with simple and minimalistic landscapes and edifications, but actually well done, you can tell there is effort put into it. Music also fits well the mood and doesn't really get tiring at all.
If you like chess, you might like this. I mean, I don't really play chess but still like me a quick puzzle game that puts the gears to spin so I'm looking forward to it while more levels are added.
Also, as a side note, I tried some things to try to break the game, but so far I found no bugs or anything weird that shouldn't happen. Recommended.
Beautifull, fun and very addicted! One more original and creative game made by Minimol that mixture chess with a historical thematic. In this installment, the novelty is introduction of more elaborated goals and missions inclusive using cinematics. In terms of gameplay, we verify a very well pace evolution in the challenge that is a characteristic of the Chess Knights Games. In summary, it is worth every penny.

I'm loving this Chess Knights series! Once again the developers innovates in its line of chess games, this time taking us to Feudal Japan. The art is amazing and the soundtrack is nice and very relaxing, helping in the immersive aura of the game. Besides, the progression is excelent.

What a fantastic game! I'll certainly spend hours playing! I'd love to teach chess to my kid when he is a little older and I believe a game like this one would certainly grasp his attention (it grasped mine! LOL). Anyway, the game has amazing and colorful graphics, nice sound and it is quite well polished!
DUDE OMG I'M HOOKED! Not even exaggerating! I love the simple controls (clicking only) and the gradual increase of difficulty. I'm at level 23 right now, and got "to be continued". Can't wait to play the rest of the levels. Also, in game music is just MWAH.

Great game but god dang is it difficult not sure if it was the alcohol or the fact my chess I.Q. is 42 but it was a fun little brain boggler killing the Generals was extremely satisfying after trying not to get spanked by some simp rooks/bishops. Not sure how to get all the achievements since I hid in a bush and didn't get the hide in a bush achievement (got faito achievement at later date which has been included in video thanks to user carmylle on steam) but if you need help on any of the levels. my play through with all levels here: https://youtu.be/xhNwdCEFKZo

This game is amazing! It's more fun than I expected! The puzzles are great, the environments are beautiful and the overall experience of the game is quite innovative. I really liked the way you progress through the levels. While you keep solving puzzles, you go through a universe full of adventures. Recommended!

A wonderful art, a sound that immerses you in this world and still leaves you free to face the challenges of puzzles very well prepared in an excellent progression. Once again, MINIMOL's staff excelled in my expectation. I strongly indicate the acquisition.

What a great puzzle game! Certainly takes Chess Knights Series to a new whole level. Beautifully rendered pieces and scenarios, with a great soundtrack help us maintain focused to solve the levels. The hidden treasure features adds an interesting type of "side quests" and is very fun to find them!
I liked it! The soundtrack and sound design are very polished, and the game has very charming graphics. This combinations creates a very relaxing atmosphere. Helps on concentrate myself for the challenges.

This is probably the cutest and most original puzzle game I played in a LONG time! Lovely scenes, lovely characters (the chess pieces!) and incredible audio. The level progression is fast in the beginning but it becomes harder and harder as the Shinobi progresses. Highly recommended.
What a fabulous thing this game, I loved the design, the immersion and everything else in it, and I'm still having a lot of fun for liking chess, but I'm still a novice, I'm feeling like a real Shinobi in chess!

The graphics are nice and the songs are very relaxing, alike the theme of this game a chess puzzle with a theme on a Samurai Warriors is awesome. The puzzle is good too, i recommend.
