Как будто кто-то взял настольную D&D, старую добрую магию, перемешал с карточной игрой и добавил графику, похожую на старый флеш-мультик про рыцарей и драконов, и это всё работает так странно, что я не понял - это гениально или я просто старый.
Суть простая: у тебя есть персонажи (воин, маг, эльф), и вместо того чтобы просто тыкать на врага, ты вытягиваешь карты из колоды, и если тебе выпала карта «меч», ты бьешь мечом, а если выпала карта «сдохни, я без доспехов» - ну, извини, повезло в следующий раз.
Игра затягивает именно этой тактической лотереей, когда ты сидишь, планируешь ход, а потом тебе прилетает какая-то хрень из-за плохой карты, и твой паладин, который должен был разнести орка, вместо этого просто стоит и чешет репу, потому что рука сложилась как в дурацком пасьянсе.
В общем, Card Hunter - это такой симбиоз для тех, кто любит и карты, и пошаговые RPG, но если вы, как я, надеялись на серьёзную тактику, готовьтесь к тому, что удача здесь решает чуть ли не больше, чем стратегия, а я пока пойду перебирать колоду и молиться, чтобы мне не выпало три карты «бег трусцой» в решающий момент.

This game is awesome. I am coming back to my steam account after about 10 years for this game specifically. I love table top, D&D, Dungeon Crawl Classics, all sorts of boards games and this captured that awe and wonder of many a nights behind or in front of a DM screen growing up.

Super recomendado! CoOp divertido e o Single Player não fica atrás não! O jogo permite criar diferentes composições de grupo! Não precisa seguir o típico dos rpgs. Todas as possibilidades são viáveis! E ambientar as aventuras como se fosse sessões de RPG de Mesa é sensacional, apesar de eu achar exagerado o Gary as vezes :D

decent game. reasonably fun to play, especially for being free, and I really enjoyed the little bits of lore around the guy running the game that gets dropped in between dungeons. He's a cringey edgelord, but I love it lol
I remember this game from back when it was on Kongregate and I have beaten all the vanilla maps solo. I was even able to import my Kong save here.
I played now 72 hours in total on a new save with friends through all the f2p levels, we even purchased some p2p levels and we also got the BFF achievement.
- The early game is kind of nice, getting different equipment parts, figuring out strategies as a team.
- The midgame gets kind of stagnant and tough, but you still have many different missions to choose from if you get stuck on one.
- The endgame gets tedious as many of your blue orbs turn into yellow orbs (you stop getting new ones).
You are about to finish all the missions at around level 18.
- The postgame (the expansion levels, ESPECIALLY Castle Mitternacht, and no, I will NOT write about it here, as I don't want to write over 20 pages of a negative review what is wrong with the lvl 21+ levels) gets sadistic and demotivating.
I've never seen a more shameless and obvious hand reading in a game. For example, I didn't have a single time where I could successfully charge attack in a straight line, if I position myself and I have a charge attack, the enemy will always 100% preemptively move out of the way. If you do the same but don't have a charge attack, it won't. Or, you have a 13 damage card and the main monster, out of 8, happens to move right next to you, your mage will force discard all of it's cards, but one, and it WILL have a Lucky Charm which will 100% block that attack anyway. We even had many times where I jokingly ask "What's the chance it will have..." and I immediately get interrupted with a stern reply "100%, no question about it", as we had to learn the hard way, that there is no "Chance", if you have planned something, it will FAIL.
Yes, everything is pretty much predetermined from the beginning, if you think you might get lucky to draw a card you need, it wont happen. And it's not just the "luck of the draw" of a card, more often than not, on stages with a main enemy and other ones, as a warrior with 3 weapons (chance to draw a damage card around 30% and you draw 2 cards per turn), you can end up not drawing an attack card 3 consecutive turns in a row. Or, you have three armor cards that need 4+, so basically 50/50 chance per armor and you fail it 3 times, that's 12,5% chance of happening, and then the next attack you get that 12,5% fail chance again, that's cumulatively 1,5% chance of missing 6 coinflips in a row and this doesn't happen just once.
The "new" crafting system that didn't exist back then seems useless, I think I crafted 1 single item in the whole playthrough to see how it works and another to improve my set. The random loot also doesn't help, I had a friend get many legendary sellables, with 1000+ gold, I don't think I ever reached more than 300 gold, that's the Gacha for you.
The game offers you to store/load multiple loadouts, however, you can only do this before you enter a dungeon. If you enter a dungeon, beat the 1st level with crushing damage, loose on the 2nd because of multiple slimes that are immune to crushing and your mage didn't bring armor removal? You go to store/load and it will be EMPTY, what is the purpose of this feature, except artificially increasing the "playtime", as every single person needs to manually change to a different loadout, either I need to change from crushing, or the mage needs to cahnge to armor removal, which might take up to 10+ minutes to wait for everyone if the priest also decides to change the loadout.
But what if the game is made tediously impossible to beat, because it's a f2p game and they want your $$$? I don't see it, as this is a Gacha game, a good item is not guaranteed. I took part in at least 2 celebration events, where you can open the best, most expensive RL $$$ chests for free and out of probably 21 pulls, I got 1 item that I started using. And if you say, well, the game is mainly made for single player, well, then they should remove the multiplayer.
All in all, not much has changed/improved since the leadership from "Blue Manchu" went over to "The Knights of Unity". Feel free to try it, play around, beat the base vanilla campaign, maybe even use expansion cards, know when to quit and know what to expect how the game will snag away your victory, else you'll get very frustrated with it very fast. It's mostly my opinnion and I don't know if my other 2 friends will write a review or comment, but our frustration was very mutual on the Voice Channel and we're moving on to a different game.

An excellent game, but it’s rather hard to farm legendary rewards and PVP has died long since. It’s also hard to balance the movement and the damage cards, but it’s good to give the player balance between healer/buffer, mage, and warrior. The dwarf, elf and human also seem well balanced. There’s a sneaky tactic of adding handicaps, which are free to draw, to thin out the deck and purposefully take damage in order to have stronger consistency.
Basic Builds: piercing (ignores armor - werewolf has been a meta), slashing, bludgeoning, laser, fire (strongest aoe), ice (can slow enemies), thunder, terrain mage, silver (counters werewolf), healbot/buffer, Handicap (can be converted to buffs - somewhat niche)
I like player suggested unique roguelike challenges where you can only earn gear from levels starting from very beginning.

Card Hunter — это, пожалуй, лучшая по настроению цифровая имитация настольных посиделок, которую можно найти. Первые часы вызывают чистый восторг: шелест карт, стук кубиков, забавные перепалки вашего напарника со снобом-ДМом и очаровательная эстетика картонных фигурок. Это работает безотказно, погружая в атмосферу уютного вечера с друзьями, даже когда играешь в одиночку. Кроме того, игра запускается на любом калькуляторе — изначально, когда-то давно, она вообще была браузерной.
Однако по мере прохождения основной кампании восторг сменяется лёгким раздражением от фундаментальных механик. В отличие от многих современных тактик, где рандом пытаются сделать управляемым, здесь кубик и порядок прихода карт могут решить исход боя вне зависимости от вашей подготовки. Когда враг трижды подряд выбрасывает критический урон, а ваш персонаж пропускает ход, потому что ему пришли только карты движения, это не вызывает желания учиться на ошибках — только усталость и ощущение потраченного времени.
Сюжет, при всей своей милоте, остаётся на уровне пародийного скетча. Кампания, в которую вы играете внутри игры, практически бессвязна и представляет собой довольно обычное фэнтези меча и магии. Что касается внешнего сюжета о самих игроках... Попытки выиграть билеты на конвент — это забавно, но здесь нет драмы или размаха, которые заставили бы сопереживать людям за столом.
Но, возможно, самым обидным барьером становится экономика. Я не имею ничего против F2P, бесплатная кампания тут достаточно большая и увлекает часов на 30. Но отсутствие региональных цен превращает дополнительные приключения и клубную подписку в неоправданно дорогое удовольствие. Видеть в каждом сундуке заблокированный слот с гарантированным редким предметом, который доступен только членам клуба, психологически неприятно и напоминает о том, что в мультиплеере будет, скажем так, тяжеловато. Это создаёт чёткое разделение на тех, кто платит в долларах, и всех остальных, заставляя чувствовать себя игроком второго сорта. Вы не захотите покупать полное издание Card Hunter по цене Baldur's Gate 3. К слову о регионах — русской локализации нет, и без знания английского нормально играть вы не сможете.
В общем-то игра заслуживает хорошей оценки. Это стильная, умная и затягивающая вещь, которая дарит отличные эмоции даже без доната. Но до статуса шедевра ей не хватает тактической гибкости, глубины повествования и более адекватного отношения к кошельку игрока за пределами США и Европы.

Card Hunter is perhaps the most atmospheric digital recreation of a tabletop game night you can find. The first few hours are pure magic: the rustle of cards, the clatter of dice, the witty banter between your partner and the snobbish DM, and that charming cardboard-standee aesthetic. It works perfectly, capturing the cozy vibe of a night in with friends, even when you’re playing solo. Plus, the game runs on a literal toaster — hardly surprising, given its roots as a browser-based title.
However, as you dig deeper into the main campaign, that initial delight often gives way to frustration with the core mechanics. Unlike many modern tactical games that try to mitigate RNG, Card Hunter lets the dice and the luck of the draw dictate the outcome, regardless of your strategy. When an enemy lands three crits in a row while your character is forced to skip a turn because you only drew movement cards, it doesn't feel like a learning moment. It just feels exhausting.
The story, while cute, never really evolves past a parody sketch. The in-game campaign you’re playing is a disjointed, standard sword-and-sorcery affair. As for the meta-narrative about the players themselves — trying to win tickets to a convention is a fun premise, but it lacks the drama or stakes needed to make you truly care about the people at the table.
But the most frustrating barrier is the game’s economy. I have nothing against the F2P model; the free campaign is quite meaty and can easily hook you for 30 hours. However, the pricing for additional adventures and the Club Membership can feel disproportionately expensive in some regions. Seeing a locked "guaranteed rare" slot in every single loot chest — available only to subscribers — is psychologically draining. It’s a constant reminder that you’re playing at a disadvantage, especially in multiplayer. You’ll find it hard to justify buying the "Complete Edition" when it's priced similarly to a modern AAA blockbuster like Baldur’s Gate 3.
Ultimately, Card Hunter deserves a solid recommendation. It’s a stylish, smart, and addictive experience that offers plenty of fun even without spending a dime. But it falls just short of being a masterpiece due to its rigid RNG, shallow narrative, and a monetization model that feels a bit too aggressive for the average player outside of the Western world.

You learn the system and after playing for an hour the game tells you it is paid to win. Best not to get involved.

It's not a bad game by any means, just not a great game. I can tell it's going to be very grindy to get good gear, and I don't love the game mechanics (the card-building aspect). It needs more polish to be worthy of a recommendation.
Pros : It is free, good time waster.
Cons : Limited free dungeons (around 30 - 35 hours playtime) , pay to play for 1 time access to every single other stage above certain level. No fun replayability aspect or challenge in old dungeons you have defeated.
It's like a 35 hours game that you can play, but don't get too attached to it because after this point the game becomes pay to play. Every dungeon is locked and you need to pay to access it once (not even unlocked permanently). You can go back to old dungeons any time but there is no replayability since the challenge rating stays the same and you have already beat it before. Unless you like changing weapons / armor, but this gets old fast.
Personally I don't recommend because I don't support such ways to make people pay for content. Either put a price on the full game or don't. They had the audacity to make people believe it's totally free and then add a pricetag to each dungeon, once people are invested.
It's a no from me.
Best strategy game since MTG
Amazing underrated game, it's giving old school tabletop DnD vibes with a unique card system attatched to attainable gear, there is a very friendly multiplayer experience too that works in tandem with the campaign in an unexpectedly balanced feeling way. The story of the campaign is actually quite thoughtful despite seeming simple on the surface and is worth playing this game for free alone, you can spend money on pizza (I suspect this is what it turns into for the dev's lol) which is this game premium currency but you can also just get a bundle or a multiplayer set after your first free set which I reccomend grabbing early as you can use the gear in campaign plus use it to win prizes. All in all a fun experience easily worth a little bit of your time, I'm halfway through the story and can't wait to see how it ends lol.
This game has a cool feature where each piece of equipment you get for your character represents a set of three or six cards, and they all go in your deck. That leads to all kinds of interesting tradeoffs where you might get two decent cards and a puny one, or one killer card backed by a mediocre one and an actual curse/drawback. There's tons of cards, so there's tons of equipment, and lots and lots of ways to make the party practically limitlessly tunable.
I'm working on my fifth playthrough of the campaign, and thought it time to leave a good note.

One of the best games I've played. Been playing this game since 2016 and I still play it on and off.
The game is basically a turn based isometric strategy game that uses deckbuilding to decide what your moves are - you have three characters you control against different groups of enemies each level. You can choose a warrior, priest or wizard, and then one of three races: dwarf, human or elf. Dwarves have the most health but least movement, elves the least health but most movement, humans are in the middle.
The gist of the game is you equip your character with items that make their decks. A full deck is around 30 or so cards, and each items adds between 3-6 cards depending on the item. Weapons add mainly attacks, armour adds armour cards, boots add movement cards, etc. (with some notable crossover - some boots give attacks or armour for example). There are hundreds if not thousands of different items which means you can create a lot of different builds.
The fun of this game is collecting the items - especially the legendaries which are both very rare and very powerful. You get more items for your characters after every level, and can do harder challenges for levels you've done to earn better chests for better loot.
Where a lot of people dislike this game is the fact you can just buy chests for real money and collect all the items that way (if you spend enough money). Not only that, but there are a lot of missions locked behind paid DLC or that you just have to pay for with the paid currency of 'pizza slices'. These extra missions usually reward you with a guaranteed epic item too, so they're generally a much easier way to get better loot.
However if you don't buy anything there's still a lot of content here in just the base game missions and then doing the quests. There are plenty of legendaries just in the base game and trust me, it will take you an aeon to try and collect them all (I've played for 350 hours and I don't even have a third of them yet). And if you enjoy the base game, the DLC are all pretty good (Attack of the Artifacts is the best one in my opinion).
Recommended for anyone who likes collecting loot and turn based strategy. A lot of content for a free to play game.

Quite a fun game with some neat mechanics and some harsh challenges / difficulty from time to time. It really helped carry me through some sleepless nights when it was just me and a crying baby. The RNG is a bit harsh and the push for microtransactions is a bit annoying and does take away from the solid foundations unfortunately, but there's still a good time to be had here solo or in coop.

Ahora, pelear por pelear con un sistema tan básico, me aburrió después de haber jugado 2 horas. No estoy seguro cual es la razón por la que no me engancho nunca con jugarlo un poco mas, pero capaz es porque sus mecánicas no son muy interesantes y aparte no cuenta con ningún aspecto narrativo.
Me da un poco de cosa que se inspira en los juegos de rol, pero que en realidad solo tiene las batallas y los dragones.

This game is similar to both D&D and MTG, and I really enjoy being able to play solo. It's great for a casual, relaxing break from other games.
It's a pretty fun card collector meets dungeon crawler game. Excellent way to pass time if you mostly fit in shorter playing sessions. It does get a bit repetitive, though.
Once you get the hang of it, it gets pretty addictive.
RNGesus and microtransations with levels designed to be frustrating to force players into said microtransactions. I played it long ago and thought it was fun and would be worth trying again. Nope. Annoying waste of time.

Este juego me ha transportado a mi niñez cuando jugabas a D&D con tus amigos, pues este juego es cómo jugarlo pero en una versión mas simplificada pero bien conseguida.
Además es bonito y despierta mucha nostalgia.
Cuando mi presupuesto para juegos era de $0, esta era una de las mejores opciones disponibles. Muy recomendable para quienes no tienen tiempo para D&D o no tienen amigos con quienes jugar. O ambas cosas, en mi caso.

I no longer reccommend this game. Went Free to Play to try and cash grab some new players after failing to continue maintaining and updating the original game. Suddenly we have this free to play disaster. It was a decent tabletop experience with clever growth. Today it is wholly without merit. RIP you will be missed.
I would pay 10 Euros for it but its free to pay! Half of the game is behind DLC it has microtransactions and a subscription.

Unique en son genre, intuitif, tactique, parfois un peu frustrant mais rien de méchant.
La mécanique est super, surtout en multi, genre a faire entre potes absolument. On passe pas mal de temps a build son perso a son style en combinant les équipements pour faire des synergie ou des combo, c'est vraiment agréable.

Pas de paywall, de pay to win, de dlc inutile, du free content de haute voltige. Les dialogues sont cool et les aventures donnent vraiment envie, l'esthétique est lécher on se croirai a une table de DND première dans les années 80 et sa c'est cool.
Vous pouvez payer des part de pizzas pour acheter du cosmétique et des coffres gratuit mais c'est largement ok et ca aide les devs qui peuvent améliorer le jeux.

Originally it was paid game and it was fun, now it is "free" pay-to-win and full of microtransactions.
Fine and addictive game, especially for the classic ODD feel :)
Game progression is way to slow and demanding.
On one hand, it's free. Technically.
On the other, it's infested with microtransactions and you can really tell.
Mechanically the game is pretty good. I'm about halfway through the campaign right now, and it's a neat mix of cards and tabletop RPGs. But you can really tell the game is pushing you to buy its premium currency by keeping you right on the edge of failing.
It's asking for $52 for all the content, plus it pushes a monthly subscription for quest rewards the game holds hostage, and it wants you to buy loot boxes on top of that.
This game could have been up there with Slay the Spire. Instead, the devs went fishing for Whales and wrecked a perfectly good game with their greed. Your time and money are better spent elsewhere.

10/10 overall. 8/10 now that the playerbase is too small for a lot of the more community-oriented functions.
The deck building mechanic is very unique and original. Even though there are only 3 classes and 3 races, there are dozens of deck ideas and thousands of ways to implement each one with a comparable level of viability in competitive play.
I would definitely recommend this.
Also, I played for years and years since 2014 and only got Steam relatively recently. So 1380 hours is a lot less than the actual amount.

"Card Hunter" is one of thousands of nasty mobile apps infesting the "free" section of Steam, but it's not really free.
You'll have a hard time finding "Card Hunter" on the app stores it was made for, and the reason for that is the original game was abandoned, so some dodgy devs resurrected it, and retained all the nasty toxic cash shop P2W mechanics. Sure, this looks like a super lame ripoff of Talisman, but here, the victory conditions are 100% determined by how much money you spend in the toxic cash shop. You'll also find content and progress is paygated through that same cash shop... and, worse, the developers violated their obligations under Steam by not disclosing this fact on the store page. Well, we shouldn't expect ethics from toxic mobile devs, should we? No.
This was published on iOS and Google Play as "Loot & Legends", which is why it's hard to find... the developers seem to have taken steps to obscure the origins of this toxic mobile app.
There's only a superficial game here. The game visuals and the game itself are incredibly shallow... think of them as the too-bright, colourful, thin plastic cabinet dress theme on a poker machine at the casino. That's basically what this is. So really, the mobile app "game" is just a veneer, a thin skin wrapped around a nasty, predatory mobile app cash shop.
Putting that toxic mobile app monetisation aside... this is a mobile app. I didn't spend thousands on a gaming PC so I could pretend it's an iPhone, and I don't think you did either... this kind of mobile app has no place in your Steam library.
This game is ancient, it's over 10 years old... it's heavily dated and isn't going to give you a remotely contemporary gaming experience... another reason for gamers to be hesitant about adding this to their libraries.
Now on to pricing and value for gamers.
Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it?
Nope. This isn't worth downloading. I didn't pay money, but I still feel ripped off.
It is actually a surprisingly fun game, especially when played with friends. Good job devs.

Back when my budget for games was $0.00, this was one of the better options available. Highly recommend for those who either don't have the time for DND or don't have friends to play DND with. Or both in my case.

唯一無二のゲームではありますが日本語がないため、積んだ時に考えるのが大変です。
オンライン協力もできますが日本人人口がいないため周りの人を誘うか自分を誘ってください（血涙）
進める上のアドバイスと注意点は
・各ダンジョンコスト制限があります。低コストの高レアアイテムも売らずに残すことをお勧めします。
・打撃無効などの特性のモンスターもいます。低レアリティでも使える装備はたくさんあるので種類をそろえましょう。
・人間、エルフ、ドワーフの違いは移動力と体力です。おすすめはドワーフ戦士やエルフ魔術師ですがここは好みでも問題ないです。
・ゴールドはガチャガチャが回せるので楽しいですがためてショップの高レアリティのものを買うのもおすすめします。
・課金要素はいくつかありますが報酬が二倍になるアンロックですが何日間有効とかなのでこのゲームをやり続ける意思がなければまとめ買いはしないほうがいいです。
・日本語wikiはありましたが更新はないです。自分はする気力がないので頑張れ・・・
・対戦報酬はそこそこうまいですが始めた手だと装備がないのでガチャで高レベル装備を手に入れることをお勧めします。
と言った形ですがやっぱ話し合いていると何十倍も面白いと思うのでぜひ誘って！！！！！
Great theme - gameplay is diverse and captures Tabletop RPG's wonderfully. The gear/card system is refreshingly interesting. My hours played doesn't come anywhere near my actual total, as I played it free on browser LONG before it was ever ported to Steam.
Must have for tactical turn-based fans.

Awesome game, the tabletop sim of its time. i've played this game multiple times with my friends and different groups and had a blast! good background story of the gooner DM crushing 5 large pizza's to see the hot delivery girl too. i like how the multiplayer system works where unless you have no friends, you can play with 2 mates and act as if its actual DND where you play as one character. 8/10, just wish it was longer

Want to play co-op in this and only co-op in this? First, it'll probably take you at least an hour to clear the tutorial. Now you have access to co-op. But now comes the main issue.
Do you have more than 3 people? Tough luck, get lost.
Do you have only 2 people? Get another, or you're never gonna have enough health to reasonably clear it.
Don't want another? Tough luck, get lost.
The balance of the co-op for 2 people just doesn't work, as for whatever reason they decided on a system where each person controls one and only one character, contrary to the team of 3 in single player. Why, though? Just have one of the players control 2 characters, then. Like the host. I'm not about to add a third wheel while playing with my boyfriend, and would sooner quit than grab some pug that likely doesn't even exist due to lacking player count.
Some of you might say "have one of you be overleveled some for an edge". I tried that. Not only does every dungeon have a level cap, they're going to lower your level to match, gear balls and all. So you have to take off any good gear that is beyond that particular level's means, gutting any real edge you would have gotten from any source save for the daily/weekly deal and lootboxes, as you can get lucky and get gear with a high level, as level has no bearing on if it can be slapped on, only if it's too ballsy (literally, you have gear ball caps) and you don't have the balls to wear a particular pair of shoes.
Worse still, I've not noticed anything resembling gear sets to promote swapping gear in a game where you and enemies alike can get immunity to one or more elements. At times 5+! Have a warrior with blunt damage? Better be ready to swap a half dozen items before battle if you want him to damage oozes. And then good luck remembering what you had equipped prior.
Co-op just feels like an after thought, and that just doesn't work in a game as hard as this one.
I loved it, but the combat seems very complicated for not a lot of depth. The UI was a little difficult to follow too, but the concept is really good! I bet something like it is a really successful mobile game

Is it pay to win?
Maybe in the pvp. But I beat this game without paying a dime back when it was on Kongregate. I had a lot of fun with and it's not easy.

I love how whimsical and fun this game is. It is accessible and easy to learn but remains challenging.
